childhood of enneagram types
📍Enneagram 8 : the challenger . ☆ . • ☆ . ° .• °:. *₊ ° . ☆
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
an E8 kid probably grew up in a dangerous environment or a violent household. Or even if they grew up in a normal household , very early in life they understood that the world is an unfair, unsafe place so meek, weak people don't make it; the thing that matters the most is survival. As a kid they might have felt like it's not okay to feel pain, be weak & vulnerable. It's likely they were betrayed by an adult figure and came to believe that people can't be relied on. They were adventurous kids & frequently got into trouble , when they were punished for it( sometimes unfairly) the kids defended themselves, they fought back, they felt like if no one defends them then they themselves will. This E8 kid was the black sheep or scapegoat child of their family. Just like E1 kids they were forced to grow up quickly. The more rejection they faced as kids the more they hardened their hearts. The innocence of a kid was lost very early. Mostly it's the betrayal, unfairness & rejection they experienced in childhood. The child knew the world is cruel , in order to survive you have the protect your feelings, be bold & assertive. It's likely they lacked protection, even they were a small child they liked to see themselves as big & powerful to defend themselves against it. Growing up the E8 child might felt like one day they will avenge the unfairness they were experiencing.

479 Tri-type description
479s typically tone down their hyper-emotionality and suffering when around others. They don't want to be difficult, and they don't want to be drama queens. They find such a self-image embarrassing, and they are certain the future holds great promise and potential, so aren't they a little pathetic for focusing on their tragedy? They may self-dramatize and bring attention to themselves at times, but it's typically followed by a down-playing of the tragedy and a reframing of the situation- "All in all, it was probably worth it, and not really a big deal, anyway..."
479s view themselves as special, clever, elite, talented, and regrettably, ordinary. Attracted to the new, the known, and the emotionally intense, they can feel a bit of the will-o'-the-wisp, never quite knowing where their fancy will take them- will the day be mundane or exhilarating? Dramatic or comforting?
Intellectually and emotionally curious, yet liking balance, 479s tend not to push things 'too far'. They may play it safe in a lot of ways, getting their stimuli and emotional depth via books, film, music and other artistic media versus through gritty life experience or putting themselves on the line (although they likely swing through levels of mania or hyper-excitability and depression or listlessness). 479s are somewhat risk averse- the four may dive into dangerous waters but the seven wants to keep things pleasurable and light while the nine would really rather take it easy, so the 479 ends up swimming back to shore, reads a good book in a hammock and then falls asleep, all the while wondering when something big will happen in their life, when they will finally reach their full magnitude.
The 479s' tendency to take the easier road can quite likely lead to a regretful place where they find themselves mired with difficult questions: "Why do I fall so easily? When will I get my drive, determination and self-discipline? What will it take for me to stay committed to one thing, no matter how difficult it is? When is my life going to be how I expected it to be?" These questions (and the failings they acknowledge) may lead to depression and a loss of self-esteem, but that doesn't mean thinking about them and recognizing their flaws is going to get them anywhere. The only way 479s will truly have lives which please them is through sucking it up and getting down to business. This doesn't mean a life of drudgery, but rather acknowledging what matters to them and making it manifest- honestly expressing their emotional range vs sugar-coating it; recognizing that potential doesn't equate ability and experience (and then making a point of acquiring that experience and ability); and not getting tired and apathetic when life throws challenges their way.
With accomplishments and self-fulfillment, 479s can't help but recognize that they possess great worth. They are innovative and creative in an inspired and life-affirming way. They see beauty in all things and beings and recognize the necessity of both pleasure and pain. They are wholly aware that they are entirely unique yet simultaneously connected to every living being, and they are joyful to be living their life, with all its messiness, struggles, and simple pleasures.
Core Fours will have a harder edge and go deeper. They will be more emotionally expressive and darker than the 974 or 749.
Core Sevens will be lighter and more energetic. They will be more upbeat, fun, and enthusiastic/excitable than the 974 or 479.
Core Nines will be more gentle and accommodating. They will be more easy-going, relaxed, and have more of a healing presence than the 479 or 749.

Remember to always check basic needs/passions/desires when in doubt between two enneatypes! Enneagram is not as much as outward behavior as it is about your internal feelings. Checking integration/disintegration patters can also be useful.
Hope this helps someone! :)

An in depth analysis of an idol's enneagram. Based on my opinion and observations. Not an expert. May change later.
Tumblr media
Core (main type): 2
Triads: Heart/Image/Shame, Positivity, Compliant, Rejection
Basic motive: To be loved
Basic fear: Being unworthy of love
Wooyoung has always desired love and admiration from others. He has lots of love and care in his heart and not afraid to express his affections for others. 2s want love and want to give love, so many of them are drawn to people.
He highly values relationships, especially since he used to feel lonely when he was younger. Since then, he seems motivated to create connections with others - Wooyoung simply wants love and to give love, just like an ennea 2.
Wooyoung seems especially touched when fans tell him the deep impact his and the group's work have on them - how he and ATEEZ help change a fan's life for the better. A 2 wants to be able to help others, to make a positive impact on people and the world. Wooyoung has made it his goal to be the light in other's life. It is the reason why he chose a candle to represent himself in "Fill in the Blanks" episode. (If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it. It is the best proof of his core 2)
Some things from the ep that stood out to me about his ennea 2 core:
"The very first thing that comes to mind when I think of Wooyoung is 'The heart that thinks of those who are precious to him before himself so I think he suits the forget-me-not flower, which means 'true love'." - Seonghwa
"One time when a fan said they know how to give love but don't know how to receive it, Wooyoung replied and said he would teach them both ways. It felt like being embraced by a warm blanket." - Anonymous ATINY
"You, who shines a light on my dark life. Positive, cheerful Wooyoung has completely changed my life." - Anonymous ATINY
"I want to become someone who is needed by someone." - Wooyoung
Wing: 2w3
Wings act as a complement to the core.
With a 3 wing, it adds a need for achievement and success. Wooyoung is definitely goal oriented, accomplishments make him feel worthy of love and praise. He wants to be the best at what he does, which is why he tries so hard to improve in his passions. It's why he tries so hard to improve in his performance and wanting to be the best at his cooking - he has a whole series dedicated to cooking where he pushes himself to learn different techniques for cooking and cutting. He also expanded his menu to be able to cook more different types of food.
As both 2 and 3 are from the same triad, Wooyoung is very image oriented. The best example is one of his recent lives where he was talking about "needing" to lose weight in order to better conform to the ideal idol image. Having a 3 wing gives him a bit of perfectionism, along with very high expectations. He wants to fulfill these expectations in order to gain the love he wants. Although Wooyoung is already quite amazing as is, being a 2w3 may make him feel he still has to look and be a certain way in order to be loved and successful. One of the major things an image/heart type struggles with is never feeling good enough.
Subtype: sx/so
Subtypes show our drive in life.
Sx (sexual/one-on-one): intensity, deep connection
So (social): Group connections, community
Sx 2: Sx 2s want to get to know a person deeply, to know their life story and their soul. This seems to fit Wooyoung best since he said he wants to know the real version of people. He doesn't judge right away - he wants to genuinely take his time to truly understand someone. He wants to be wanted by others.
So 2: Being his 2nd dominant subtype, Wooyoung still values group connections. He's outgoing and friendly and puts effort into creating a nice environment. He wants to do things for others - has said he enjoys cooking and feeding others. Especially when they react positively, it gives him a sense of accomplishment and motivation to get better in order to keep people happy.
Tritype: 278
Tritype is formed up one's dominant type from each center of intelligence (heart, head, gut)
- Head center type: 7 -
Head center focuses on dealing with fear and anxiety.
I think Wooyoung deals with such issues in a 7 way - he's silly and goofy, obviously a fun and overall positive guy, as most 7s are. Even Hongjoong said Wooyoung is good at creating a comfortable atmosphere - they probably would not be as close if it weren't for Wooyoung's ability to make things fun. Whenever things were tense or awkward, Wooyoung would go out of his way to relieve such tension.
- Gut center type: 8 -
Gut center is about reaction, control, and anger.
8's are the most comfortable and open about their anger - they do not repress and are not ashamed. Wooyoung seems to have no difficulty in expressing his disappointments and anger with people. He's quite straightforward and blunt, a bit unfiltered at times. He's also fiercely protective over those he cares about, e.g saying he would bite whoever hurt Seonghwa when some "fans" were being rude to him. He also did a biting motion with his arms as a way to call out the person who had plagiarized their Say My Name dance move. An 8 would definitely be bold enough to do such a thing.
- Stems -
How types connect
2-7: Positivity, playful, fun, charming
7-8: Assertive, can be impulsive, do what they want
2-8: Rejection, take control, protective

Disintegrating Through Your Fixes: A Theory on Tritypes - An Enneagram Essay
Updated version here.
The theory is simple: Humans, when stressed enough, will disintegrate through their fixes in addition to disintegrating through their core type.
The event that led to this theory was a post I made a month or two ago in which I described a time in which I was so incredibly stressed that I disintegrated. However, another poster noted that this seemed much more like the disintegration of a 3 as opposed to a 5; and they were right. As such, I researched as much as I could on the differences between the 3 and 5 and consulted others proficient in enneagram. Through my research and their wisdom, I discovered that I have been in a prolonged disintegration to the 7 and never realized it, as that has become my “normal” - but that’s a story for another day. However, despite the evidence of me being a 5 clearly laid out, I couldn’t just brush off the fact that I had disintegrated to a 3. Thus, after more research, my theory came to life.
As far as tritype logic goes, nobody is fully within one center of intelligence; this is why the tritype theory exists. The tritype has one type for each center of intelligence, which describes how we deal with each respective center’s emotion. For example, you’ll also see in the Harmonic triads that each group has its own respective way of dealing with failure and disappointment. When one coping mechanism isn’t working, the mind moves to the next coping mechanism. If you are a 214, for instance, you would first go to Positive Outlook. If that doesn’t work, you would then add on Competency, and if that doesn’t work, add on Reactive.
Thus, it seems that if you are so incredibly stressed that you’ve already  disintegrated through your core type (possibly for an extended period of time?), then you will move to your first fix and also disintegrate through that in hopes of handling or alleviating the stress. This seems to explain a lot of other conundrums, as I have seen acquaintances of mine whose type both they and I were entirely confident in seem to disintegrate to a type that didn’t align with theirs. These acquaintances were undeniably type X, but for them to disintegrate to type B when type Y disintegrates to type B baffled me. As I look back, though, I realize each acquaintance had type Y as their first fix (to be clear, type Y is simply a placeholder and means different types for different acquaintances).
Although I have never seen anyone disintegrate through their second fix, it would theoretically be possible. They would most likely have to be under a crippling amount of stress for a very extended period of time.
----
As I come to understand disintegrating through your fix better, I will update this theory. However, due to the nature of the conditions needed to observe this theory in action, it might take more time than I would prefer. I can’t, of course, only observe one person; I must observe multiple people to solidify an hypotheses, and the acquaintances mentioned above are thankfully out of such stress and disintegration.
As always, comments, observations, and questions are welcome.

It always is fascinating to hear what others' perspectives are on various typing systems. I have tendency to get stuck or just have a very black and black "it's this or wrong" mentally, so I love it when I get hit over the head with hammer basically, be it directly/intentionally or not.
