Vitimir: Why is Terra crying on the floor?
Darius: She took one of those 'Which Coven Head are you?' quizzes.
Vitimir: And?

Darius: She got Lilith.

Eber, after getting into one of Terra’s cabinets not realizing there was more than alcohol in there and that some of those liquids shouldn’t mix, knocked some bottles over igniting the liquids, and caught on fire. Terra came in, put him out, gave him some rose-whisky for his nerves and he promptly fell asleep on her.
Now being used as a pillow by a warm and fluffy Eberwolf, she fell asleep too. He woke up and thought her face half buried in her armpit was hilarious.
So he snapped a picture and shared it. Because that how Eber do!

I like having a chill/shenanigans au because it’s where the fun vibes go.
There are chatrooms for the various Covens and Coven Heads while those in the same age group/year have their own chatroom.
Then you have instances where Steve once started a snowball fight on the Knee to boast morale.
The Coven Heads talk about random bs and get nothing done while the sane ones just rolls their eyes in “why are we here?” kind of way.
Two people closest with Lilith tried to get her palisman to swear, but the jokes on them they can already swear because Lilith keeps swearing in her head. Unknowingly saying “fuck” every time.
Steve writes his reports in a glitter pen because he wants to have fun. Much to Lilith’s annoyance. He dots his eyes with hearts and leaves emoticons at the end. :)
Darius comes in complaining about what either Snapdragon did or what stupid design Alador made. Other times it the latest news/gossip.
Lilith’s office door has seen better days. It’s either Darius and Eber strutting in to talk; Steve casual walking in to show a meme that she doesn’t get; or it’s Kikimora to bother her. Lilith just wants to work in peace.
The Elder Coven Heads have conversations on what to get on the pizza and Osran wants anchovies like the boss he is. Everyone else calls him a monster for such a suggestion.
Osran writes in cryptic text that no one asides from Terra, Hettie, Vitimir and a few of his older students.
Hooty attempts to write to Lilith every week because he wants to make sure she’s ok.
Steve accidentally meeting Lilith’s Palisman as they fly through the air. He thought they were the most adorable thing.
Then offset it with angst/realistic au.
Like Lilith being hesitant to consider Steve or Darius a friend after she ruined the last close bond in her life.
Steve having moments of guilt where he thinks he failed his fellow Coven Scouts and wonders if he’s on the wrong team.
Darius thinking he’s fine and happy as he finally prove the bitch Odalia wrong, but he doesn’t. Like his mother always said, “Do it for yourself, not for others. If you do it for others, then you will always feel empty.”
Just thinking about how all the adults try to feel the need to prove themselves or justify themselves because that’s what society’s taught them ever since Belos came to power.
The sad thought of in between the Previous Golden Guard and Hunter, Belos would have moment where he’d take his anger out on Lilith because he equally enrages him.
The small worry of the Clawthorne Palismans during Agony of a Witch as Lilith’s Palisman wonder if they’re going to far.
Just the way my brain seesaws.

Pls tell me someone else thought this too
ok I'm just curious about this but did y'all also think the coven heads had their own 'coven centers' or something? I assumed every coven had their own main building somewhere on the Isles and that we'd get to see it.
But no I guess all the coven heads just live at the castle? I suppose this would be better for Belos to monitor them, but I kinda wish each coven had their own building where they can get together, I think it'd be cool.

au where the day of unity isn't until decades later and luz never comes to the boiling isles. willow somehow still gets transferred to the plant track and gets really good at her craft. amity never learns that bullying is bad, actually and they never reconciled in school.
and years later, blight industries is the most affluent company on the isles. odalia continues to be allergic to letting amity, who is her only child at this point to not run away from home the moment they turned 18 and cut all contact, associate with witches of "lower social standing."
so eventually when odalia tells amity that she's going to find her a nice respectable spouse amity just rolls her eyes and goes with it. maybe its some other heir to a big company. maybe it's a captain from the emperor's coven. maybe it's even the golden guard, if hunter managed to survive that long.
and then eventually she finds out that her mother has been trying to get her a date with PLANT COVEN HEAD WILLOW PARK
you've seen the countless amity x hunter miserable arranged marriage aus get ready for the amillow friends to enemies to arranged marriage to friends again to lovers 50k slowburn

Dark Emperor’s Coven Headcanons:
A/N: This was supposed to be a part in a different post, but this wouldn’t go away and it will be more detailed.
Trigger Warning for implied and mentioning of suicide, death, medical torture and torture. If you are uncomfortable, I suggest skipping over this. Please proceed with caution.
_________________________________
It is strictly against the rules to go to the Healing Coven for medical care after punishments or failures.
If a Scout is required to go, they better hope Coven Head Cutburn be there. For if she is, chances are it will be a long procedure.
Cutburn has the blessing of the Emperor to make the process an excruciating as possible, though she is not allowed to kill them. Like a second punishment of weakness.
Scouts attempt to learn first aid or Healing Magic to heal their injuries. It becomes a quick and necessary thing to learn.
Usually a few elderly members are experienced in Healing Magic to do the necessary work. The Scouts try not to go often as to not raise Belos’ suspicion.
Lilith understands and usually turns the other way while they solve the issue. Other times she would sigh and give a quick lesson to younger recruits. Some instincts are hard to give up.
There are some generous healer who offer leftover medical packs that they usually stock up.
Squadrons usually have three packs each. One initial one while the two are spares from long ago. They don’t have time to get more.
Some more rational members understand that they are less of a powerful Coven and more of a police military army for the Emperor.
The hardest job of the Coven Head in the Emperor’s Coven is to deal with reports.
Over the years, filling out casualty reports became daunting task. The Previous Golden Guard was utterly shocked by the logging of recruits lower than those who entered training.
“…Uncle, the young recruits are dead. They should be cataloged and their families be notified so they make the appropriate burials.” He said, as he held out the latest report from the training excursion to the Knee.
“No.” Belos replied, as his gaze fixated on the latest tapestry.
“No…?” He asked quietly.
“No, nephew, we won’t catalog the reports or notify their families.” He stated.
“Don’t…Don’t we have duty to the citizens of the Isles to tell them?”
“If we tell their families, we will lose the work we put into this system to begin with. That is simply a risk we cannot take.”
He bowed his head. “I see…my apologies.”
“Those who weren’t strong enough, do not deserve to be remembered. To succeed, one must do everything.”
“Of course, Uncle.”
From that point forward it became mandatory rule to not care if there were any casualties during training on the Knee. Though it only grew worse from there.
By the time Lilith became Coven Head, she was already familiar with how the Coven operated, though as like most of her members, she tried to put it out of her mind.
When it came to reviewing training reports, Steve had insisted that she ask for the casualty reports. That it was the right thing to do and to notify the families.
Though she had asked training sergeants to give their reports, she did not feel comfortable over stepping rules of notifying families of the young deceased recruits. It wasn’t in her jurisdiction at first, but agreed to have a quiet burial for those that died.
Though writing letters of condolences was necessary for those who died in the field. She would spend whatever spare time between reports writing letters of condolences to the Scouts families. At time Steve would enter office as she wrote and he would calmly sit with her filling out letters. He had friends in the Plant Coven and would later attach flowers to the letters. This was never told to the Emperor as he said he was too preoccupied.
Though mission and training deaths weren’t the only death within the Coven. There were…the unspoken deaths… Ones that were added to a separate pile on her desk.
As spoken in this post, Coven Heads Snapdragon and Cutburn felt as though they had…liberties when it came to Coven Scouts. Coven Scouts quickly learned to never trust any of the other Coven Heads outside of their own. They noticed how they viewed them as expendable.
In order to prevent younger Scout from accidentally being swept up by Snapdragon, Cutburn or any other Coven Head, the older Scouts and Scout Captains would come along to make sure missions went more smoothly. If anything were any failures or mistakes, they would take responsibility for it.
It became a somewhat mandatory with the previous Golden Guard but even more so when by the time Lilith appointed. Other Coven Heads are required to put in a request forum and a Squadron would be appointed accordingly.
Though there were times when a poor young Scout or two were snatched up by the more aggressive Coven Heads.
Some Scout figured out Cutburn and Snapdragon were having competitions on how they’ve killed. It made them nervous while Lilith and Steve were furious.
Though on rare occasions, elder Scouts and Captain manage to away the Coven Heads to leave them be, but at times can be futile.
Coven Head Lilith has made attempts to remind them that if they require, she will organize a Squadron to assist them as seen in this post. Though, it usually ends with them looking down at her.
The senior members don’t respect her well enough as Snapdragon believes she wasn’t meant to be chosen unlike her sister who she knows has skills, but was disappointed again when she failed to duel. Like back in the Coven Witches vs Wild Witches.
It also makes it difficult when Coven Scouts don’t return from missions under them or mistakenly went to the Healing Coven when Cutburn was there.
Which is why it is a part of the third pile…the unspoken pile. In which deaths weren’t reported as it would cause unwanted attention. Such as a Coven Scout killed by either one of the sadistic Coven Heads. They weren’t allowed to arrest them as to not disturb the public. Much to the higher ups frustrations.
The other part of the pile consists of reported deaths by fellow Coven Scouts, but the cause of death could not be disclosed either.
Being in the Emperor’s Coven was both a high honor and respected position on the Boiling Isle’s, and one of great stress.
Should those feel as though they don’t measure up with the high expectations, they begin to feel doubtful and stressed as they try to meet those expectations.
Then there are those who are desensitized to the violence and death, as they slowly realize what they wanted wasn’t all it was meant to be. They feel hollow and empty as they don’t bother to do what is expected of them. They don’t bother leaving as they would be marked for death anyways.
Those who can’t or no longer can handle being in the Emperor’s Coven, don’t care anymore. There isn’t a point to it asides from death or failure. They don’t deserve to fit if they are unfit to live by the societal laws.
Steve is told about or finds the unfortunate discovery of a Coven Scout. It happens in either the barracks, the shower rooms, or unfortunately outside somewhere.
The next thing you know, Lilith has her office door flung open.
Bang!
Lilith glanced up sharply, grasping her pencil tightly as she gazed at Steve. He stood there, hands curled tight into fists with his head bowed slightly, as he tried to appear steady. Though it was fruitless as she noticed his shoulders shake slightly.
“Where?” She asked, as she set her pen down.
He didn’t respond, as he tightened his fist further. There was drops of water on the floor by his feet. He was crying.
She sighs. “Take me to the area, Steve.”
“…I should have made sure he was ok…” he whispered, breathing softly. “He said he was when he returned, but…but I should have checked on him after…I should have—”
“And he would have still denied it anyways.” She interrupted, as she stood.
“But they can talk if they want help.” He argues, meeting her gaze.
“Yet you still know why they feel as though they can’t.”
He blinks before returning his gaze to the floor.
“We can’t change what happened, but we can make sure his body is safely moved and can give him a proper resting place.” She reassured, as she walked over.
He side stepped quietly, not bothering to glance up as he saw her shoes in his peripheral. He knew she had a point and yet he couldn’t help but still feel upset. That Scouts and Captains still worry to be open with each other or amongst others. That they doomed to carry weight on the their souls until death.
“His family won’t be there…” he muttered. “They won’t know what actual happened to him and we’re not allowed to say. How is that fair?”
He didn’t hear a response but he felt her presence next to him, waiting.
“How is it fair to the children who work so hard to prove that they’re best and should be a part of our Coven, if they’re going to die after their first year? How is it fair when some of our own die by a different Coven Head’s hand on a mission or worse? How is it fair when we lack the facilities to help deal with the problems we face if we’re just expendable?” He ranted, brow furrowed fury as he glared at the floor.
“You know you can’t talk about it like that, Steve.” She said. “It will be viewed as—”
“Treason?” He finished, glaring at her with tears in his eyes. “Are we just meant to stone soldiers for him? That it won’t matter if we die on the field or behind close doors while our families can bury us and wish us condolences? Or the ones who will never be missed because they thought it was their last chance to be seen?”
There was silence as they stood there with the faint lights of the candles. He wanted to believe he was on the right team, that they would be remembered—that he would be remembered…that it was all worth it.
Lilith gently clasped his shoulder. “He won’t be forgotten by us because we will always be here. Even after they are gone.”
He blinks before chuckling softly. “…We always are, aren’t we?”
“Sadly, yes…”
Silence echoed once more between them.
“Now,” she said, straightening her posture. “Show me where he is, Steve.”
So they went.
It’s not a very known outside the palace walls or the barracks of what happens to Coven Scouts and Coven Scout Captains.
Some Scout Captains inform their squadrons of the recent lost of one of their own and they go into quiet mourning.
When it’s a Scout Captain, they usually gather along with Lilith and Steve to mourn quietly before returning to business as usual. Other times there isn’t a group gathering, and so they host quiet vigils. No outside the Emperor’s Coven knows.
The only time another outside their Coven knew was the Abomination Head.
After a few years or so, Darius would walk into Lilith’s office to talk and relax as she worked much to her slight annoyance, but never kicked him out.
After a while he noticed the different stacks around her desk. He also noticed her writing letters at times.
“Who are you writing to?”
“Hmm?” She asked, glancing up from the letter.
“The letters. Who are they for?” Darius asked from the couch. “Who’ve been writing them since I got here.”
“Oh, they are for family members.” She answered casually, as she went back to writing. “A Scout was killed in action, so I write condolence letters to the family of their loss.”
“Oh…Do you do that for all of them?” He asked, arching an eyebrow.
“Yes, it is important to give condolences to the family and praise them for their bravery.” She explains.
“I never knew that.”
She hums, as she writes. He glanced at the other desk next to her, stacked with more papers as well as one was more taller than the other. This office was smaller than his own and clearly lacked windows for any natural light to enter, but then again, Lilith may have found that to be a benefit where others may have found it suffocating.
“What’s that pile for?” He asked.
She blinked, as she glanced at her other desk full of reports. She slumped back in her chair, frowning at the pile.
“The…other reports…” she answered slowly, gazing at Darius. “Ones that I am not allowed to disclose with you or anyone else outside of the Coven.”
He frowned. “And their families?”
“That’s on a need to know basis. Those reports are confidential as it to protect the Coven and anyone else who may be involved.”
“…Coven Heads, then?”
“I am not under liberty to say.” The response was automatic.
“How many other things are you not under obligation to say?” He pressed.
She remained quiet as she went back to writing.
“Is this why they don’t like me or Eber?” He questioned, as he sat up. “Have they been—?”
“Yes.” She interrupted, as she remained focused. “…Yes a couple of Coven Heads have been…hurting them.”
She set her pen down, crossing her arms as she glared at Darius.
“Promise me, it won’t get out of this room, Darius.” She stated firmly.
“I promise,” he said softly, holding his gaze at her. “Just as I promise with your “team building” exercises. I won’t tell anyone and Eber probably already knows.”
She sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. “…Cutburn and Snapdragon refuse to obey proper protocol when it comes to Scouts.”
“Of course it’s them. Those two have no self control.” he grumbled.
“Cutburn tries, but we only rarely get a Scout who mistakenly walks to the infirmary. Those that don’t…”
He nods in understanding by the indication. Also understood why it couldn’t be openly disclosed as it would cause a mess in order to replace them.
“Is that everything that they did?” He asked.
Lilith shook her head. “Some are more…private…”
He frowned. “The Emperor kills his Scouts? I wouldn’t be surprised.”
“Yes, but…” she intertwined her fingers, padding one thumb over the other. “…There are things aren’t meant to be released…”
“Like?”
“…To be in this Coven is very…competitive…He only accepts the very best and failure is prohibited.” She frowned in worry. “Sometimes some Scouts can’t handle the stress…Other times they feel as though they aren’t good enough to remain here…While worst of times, they don’t see the point.”
The silence hung between them like an anchor.
Lilith looked back at her stack in sadness and worry. ‘It’s not like it mattered, Belos doesn’t know their names much less care if their bodies are found in places where no one is.’
“Does he know?” Darius asked, breaking the silence.
“What do you think?” She asked in return.
He sighed, glancing at the pile, a knot twisting in his stomach, a familiar knot he felt when he never heard from his mentor all those years ago.
“He sweeps it like he sweeps all problems under the rug in order to maintain his goal.” She states.
“What can I do?” He asked, standing.
“Darius, no, you can’t tell—”
They can’t afford trouble.
She can’t afford trouble.
“What can I do to help them?” He repeated.
She blinks at him, as her shoulders slumped as she registered the question. ‘He wants to help…’
Because of their experience with the other Coven Heads, the Scouts and Scout Captains were hesitant about Coven Heads Deamonne and Huntsman. More so with Huntsman, as the Scout Captain were terrified of the previous Beast Keeping Coven Head.
Eber understood there was distrust and weariness amongst the Seniors of the Emperor’s Coven, and so they took it slow and mostly remained by Darius’ side.
Darius took the younger Scouts on missions with him and took them on relaxing watched. They slowly eased up with him and felt somewhat relaxed.
Eberwolf told a set of Scouts plus a Scout Captain to join their Coven in sleeping pile while they were looking for a threatened creature. They were very surprised and relieved. They were worried about their “training exercises” would be taken away.
Darius also took the liberty of reminding Snapdragon to fill out the request forms like everyone.

SCOM Micro Writing Notes: Terra-ble
Good morning and happy DAY OF UNITY -- One Year Since TOH ended! How's everyone feeling?
I am planning of watching @not-so-average-fangirl 's stream with the cast during my lunch breaks... but I'm dropping a few notes from last chapter while I am at it.
Terra was a little more difficult to write than I had expected at first.
I don't know if its because she's one of the (evil) Coven Heads that we spend the most time with and so much about her has been sort of "given".
But when she "showed up in court", she just started playing the "Fragile Old Lady" card and it made sense.
I also enjoyed working with the idea that Hunter and Willow, having been married for quite a while now, probably share a few brain cells -- and they are going to need to use their buff brains to handle parenthood, but FIRST they can show their chops by tricking Terra into showing her cards.
I was pretty happy with the way the last chapter came out -- but the ending was the one thing I was waiting to drop.
Tumblr media
“AND? MIZZ PARK?” Terra mocked, “You forgot the most IMPORTANT aspect of THAT little blend. Hmmmm? ALL of those plants and herbs must be grown in freshly tilled soil that has been magically enriched by a compost that includes –”
The hair and fingernails of a grimwalker.
So we know that most of the Coven Heads were circling Hunter like vultures waiting for a piece of him -- literally.
Much like the tabloids circled him as a child and now looking to monetize his trauma.
So the question is -- what exactly DID Terra do that was considered "unique independent cruelty" beyond what she could have claimed she did under Belos' influence and manipulation?"
Terra's trial wraps in the next chapter -- then the hearings take a break for a bit of a field trip -- where Hunter and Willow will need to spend a night or so apart.

Ok but like, an AU where the hexsquad stays in the Boiling Isles and the Covenheads recover quickly, then go through the portal and into the human realm to escape the collector.
(For the sake of the AU to work, Eda was the one clever enough to remember her curse and she cut off her arm herself, then the Covenheads recovery was quicker and try to find a way to escape by going to higher ground. Terra and Adrian see the Portal and make a run for it and the others follow suit. Raine follows to say that they don't want to leave Eda and the others but Darius drags them with him to get to safety. Terra and Mason get greedy and knock the Hexsquad away from the portal. Luz and the others try to catch up but it's too late as the portal closes and ends.)
Think about it. It'll be played seriously as they try to find a way back. Of course, there'd also be some humor too about them being stuck in a different world.
Raine and Darius would share the single braincell trying to hold everyone together. Raine is the one who suggests that they lay low while trying to find a way back.
Then Raine gets the idea that they need to not only hide their ears, but also need to blend in with regular human clothes. (So naturally, they have to resort to stealing clothes ATLA style.)
They'll also have to do some small accommodations for Vitimir's legs, Hettie's horns (if they're horns it could be a headpiece we don't know) Terra's hair, Osran's extra hands, and Adrian has to just hide his tail with an illusion.
They also pass off Eberwolf as a type of feral wolf they keep as a pet.
They keep shelter at the portal house and Mason is the one to repair it up a bit to make it more livable. (Albeit, with Terra's floral but deadly touches as decoration/security)
Of course they don't get along, but they do their best to put it aside in order to find a way home and stop Belos. (Terra and the Covenheads that were previously loyal to Belos now just want to get some revenge for being manipulated the entire time.)
In terms of food, they resort to stealing food from markets via illusions and sneaking around since they have no idea how human currency works.
About the Rebus, Mason finds it while remodeling the interior one day, coincidentally around Halloween-time. (since it's Halloween they don't need to hide their ears and one tail, people will think it's a costume.)
They try to decipher the rebus but to no avail, so they have to resort to asking someone and of course they run into Masha and they help.
Darius notices the golden guard symbol again and Raine notices the statues of the Whittebane Brothers where one looks like Belos.
For a small break they decide to sit down and watch Masha's retelling of the "Brothers Whittebane". During the ride, Darius notices the bird that looks an awful lot like Hunter’s palisman.
It isn't until after that one by one they piece together that Belos came from the Human realm and was one of the brothers on the statue. (They don't know what happened to the other brother though.)
Then Darius notices something in the woods and goes after it. The others follow and see Belos possessed Darius and they fight him and manage to get him out of his body.
The try to fight him again to defeat him but it doesn't work. Darius is severely hurt so she stays back to heal him. (This time, while they're fighting Adrian manages to look inside Belos’s mind via a similar spell that doesn't need an amplifier.)
Belos manages to escape through the portal, and with Darius healed within time, they quickly go in through the portal.
I really liked this sudden idea I just had to share.
Also yes Darius is the equivalent to Hunter here because of his connection to the previous golden guard.
And Adrian is the equivalent to Gus in this scenario (in his own twisted way) because he has the magic to look into a person’s memories. (Then it'll come up as he pieces it together that Belos killed his brother and made him into a grimwalker.)
Then Darius has to face the fact that Hunter is a grimwalker as well as the previous Golden Guard.
What can I say except that I live for parallels?
I may do a part 2 of this for how the rest goes, who knows.
