This is my most recent poem and the first I will be sharing on here! Let me know how you like it! TW: MENTIONS OF SUBSTANCES AND PAIN.
You only smile like that when you’re drunk
Emptying those bottles as they emptied your soul
Your genuine smile faded, their words really took their toll
Getting tipsier and tipsier until you try new things
One new thing leads to new alcohol the second leads to drugs
But what life is worth living when substances are your only love?
See I was warned about drugs, alcohol and money
Yet never about love which I find rather funny
See love has gave me the reddest of eyes
And my pillow as my saint as it listens to my cries
I’d wonder how they continued to stand tall and as they broke my heart once again I felt myself fall.
Into this pit, questioning my self worth
Love is an addictive drug and for that I hate this place we call Earth
Society is fucked and nobody will listen
These teenagers are dying and these adults claim that they can “fix them”
But the fixing they do is sending their children away so why must these children fight for their reason to stay?
They say we’re too young to get our heart broken, shattered and torn
As the elders aren’t willing to embrace the roses with the thorns
As you lay down those sharp edges, I shall lay out my hands
As your thorns are your beauty and my hands are willing to bleed.
Love can kill.
