hey y'all I'm BAAAAACK

Here's the final version of total drama December

Start: 12/01

End: 2024/01/01

You can start drawing during November, like that you will not need to worry about drawing during Certain Days in December. (Opcional, if you want to draw during December then it's your choice, I don't control your life, BUT I WANT TO) (I am joking)

Also, if you didn't posted a certain drawing in a certain drawing day, don't worry. You can post it in some other day, just don't take too long

Rules:

1. No NSFW.

2. No gore in Drawing Days that don't have the:

[You can Ignore the rule 1 in here, If you want] warning

3. No harassing other participants

4. No using AI (you can use AI to trace it if you want, just if the result is completely different than the original)

5. No tracing (but you can use bases, AI art, but you FKING CANT trace other person's drawings, or stealing some random persons drawing)

In some drawing Days it will have a warning saying if some rule can opcionaly ignored if you want. Rules number 1, 3, 4, 5 NEED to be used in all drawings, the unic one that can be opcionaly ignored is Rule 2, the rest need to be respected and used in all drawings. If you ignore them, er... GET BLOCKED BISH.

Okay, The explanation of what is to draw in The Drawing Days:

Drawing Days: It's the day where you will post the drawing with the thematic of that day.

. Day 1: Ho Holy Chris

[You can Ignore the rule 1 in here, If you want]

Basically Santa Claus Chris, you can draw him doing whatever tou want (if it's not NSFW)

. Day 2: Favorite characterS from each season

You can use 2 Characters per season if you want (in Ridonculous Race can be 1 or 2 teams of you want) (total dramarama not included)

Also, if You didn't watched certain season you can just put a " EU NAO SEI!!" (I don't know in portuguese)

. Day 3: LEAST FAVORITE FROM EACH SEASON

You can use 2 Characters per season Ridonculous Race can have 2 teams and total dramarama not included

. Day 4: Favorite Ships and least favorite ships

It can only be 1 ship per season, the Ship can be fanon or canon. Pro ships NOT ALLOWED!

. Day 5: Free spirit

[You can Ignore the rule 1 in here, If you want]

you can draw whatever you want, an scenerio, a character, a ship art, a comic or idk an au art if you want

. Day 6: Do the evolution

It looks epic but it's not. So, this is what you would do/change in a certain total drama season (it can only be one season) also, when I say CHANGE I don't mean by putting your Headcanons on it, it's literally change certain things in the season, who would be eliminated in that day, who would win, which ship you would make be canon, who would you make be more loved, ya know this things

(It can be a text and a drawing at the same time if you want)

. Day 7: Album/Music reference

Kinda auto explicativo, né? Ok, it's a music reference. You choose the character, you chose the music in the post, you chose the album to make reference to and you chose the references

(Also, you can use the colors of the chosen album as the colors of your drawing if you want)

. Day 8: canon vs headcanon

The canon one needs to be canon as possible to the original and the other one can have your Headcanons, the character can be who you want. If you want to, you can put what stayed and what changed on your art or you can put in the description (in other words: you need to make a comparison with the canon character with your Headcanons)

. Day 9: Swap in

Two characters being swaped, Both have the personality of the other one. the clothes, the design and etc.

. Day 10: favorite TDWT song

Just do a drawing of you favorite TDWT song, that's it

. Day 11: most Deserved Elimination

The character that most Deserved the elimination

. Day 12: least favorite Elimination

That one elimination that you looked directly into the screen and said: nah, this CANT be happening, THAT one elimination that made you go MENTAL. Yeah you get it

. Day 13: meme redraw

It can be any meme of you choice (even the aletyler one, JUST DONT MAKE IT TOO MUCH SUGGESTIVE YOU CREEP)

Or it can be a Meme base

. Day 14: self insert

You in certain total drama scene. For example: next to your favorite character.

Or you can do an original piece with an original scene if you want, but you need to try have the same artstyle that in total drama (you can try your best)

. Day 15: fake Screenshot

You drawing in the TD artstyle, where it shows a Scene that supposed to be real, BUT ITS NOT!! You can use an fake Screenshot that already exist but you can draw a original one

A character that in your opinion, deserved Better. The character is your choice

A character that you changed opinions with

todoroki shoto x idol!fem!oc

synopsis: katsuki getting serious, trip to korea and his concerns.

word count: 3.2k

warnings: none.

note: oc is at least 2-3 years older than shoto, however i do not mention it hehe. hope u like it.

Todoroki trained alone, he would do it in complete silence until he started wearing those headphones that Jiro recommended to him some time ago. He liked music, his only problem was that speakers often burned down or completely frezzee. Having the headset was so much better.

Being the quiet man he is, he often just puts on any playlist with the most girly song. However, he did like to listen to some songs on repeat. The songs from that girl group that he someday came across were his favorites. And she was the member he liked the most.

He remembers the first time he saw her. It was a video of one showcase of her gruoup; mesmerizing light blue eyes and a pair of short white fangs showing with her smile, gracefull dance and stable vocals during her time on camera. The perfomance ended with her in the center, white ribbons around her body making the scene even more ethereal, an irreproachable ending fairy. Shoto was left speachless.

He had turned into a pro hero, making his debut at the ninth place of hero ranking, not so long he was obligated to attend a variety show as a special guest in order to increase his acceptance, he was glad some of his former school classmates were attending the show.

"So, guys, do you have some ideal type or celebrity crush?"

"Nymphia," he said directly.

Red Riot, Deku, Charge bolt and Dynamight agreed she was pretty, just like everyone would. Next day, the internet was full with news and forums commenting about the variety show and the revelation of the hero. Fans shipped the hero and the idol, some even gave Shoto merch during patrol or any sort of encounter with him.

When the hero ranking came out he had turned into thrird place and just a year later, after the shipp hype went off, he keeped that place.

Now, he patrolled every so often, reserving some of his time to investigate underground criminals. Doing his patrols was nothing out of the ordinary, people saluting him, others asking for an autograph and every so often some high schooler would give him some photocard of Nymphia. He gratefully took it and when he arrived at his house he put it on a designated album for his repeats. Since he already had every photocard and every version avaliable...

There was some problem when he heard someone screaming 'thief!' from the café down the street, It was his surprise when he arrived at the place and saw the already known couple of white ribbons all over the thief.

"Please give it back, I have some important things in it" Soft voice speaking.

"Uh... y-yeah, sure" the thief handed the bag and the person with the ribbons offered him a coffee. "Not really, I think I should go..."

"Sorry, sir..."

"Shoto!"

"I think you should come with me to the police station" The hero said. The owner of the ribbon quirk put down their sunglasses.

"He already gave me my bag and I don't want to press charges, I'm sure he learned he should not steal from people," Smile with short fangs "Let me invite you a milkshake and cheesecake".

"A-Ah sure..."

And now he was on the second floor of the café, chocolate milkshake and oreo cheesecake for him, and strawberry milkshake and cheesecake for her. Somehow scared of the woman in front of him.

"This place is nice, really private," she said, taking down the sunglasses and bucket hat, then taking off the jacket. "Thank you for not taking us to the police, this is my free day and I decided to explore cafés while my friends are shopping..."

Shoto was enchanted. Enchanted by those light blue eyes and ribbons on the hair, sweet and harmonious voice on his ears as he drank from his milkshake and eated his cheesecake.

He actually wondered how she was able to speak that much...

"Are you Shoto?" she asked. He nodded. "Is your agency nearby?" Another nod from Shoto. "I knew you weren't much of a talker but I expected you to be more active."

"Uh, just impressed," she tilted her head. "Didn't expect this."

"I supose eating with your celebrity crush ain't an everyday activity," the woman jokes and Todoroki's cheeks blushed "you cute"

"Thank you”

She giggles. "What do you do for fun?"

"Well I..."

Light blue eyes fixed on the heterochromatic ones as the owner talked. The pro hero is indeed handsome. She had already seen pics and videos of him in battle and outside battle. Nymphia wondered how many scars decorated his entire body, the vestiges of them still on his young face.

"Got something friday night?"

That day is her performance, he thought.

"Not really."

"Great. Have this, hero Shoto," she handed a couple of tickets, one for the perfomance and the other for the meet and greet event only for owners of the fanclub membership.

The woman put on the hat and sunglasses, standed on her feet under Shoto's gaze.

"I'll see you there."

A couple of days after and Friday has arrived as fast as a lighting.

"I'll be out till night," Shoto says to his sister.

"Have a date?" His father asks "Because I can set you up with so..."

"No need, father." He declines and bows before heading out to the agency.

Fuyumi and Enji shared a look.

"He's having a date."

And yes. Probably the only one really clueless about that was Shoto.

After having one of the best places for enjoying the performance two people came to him and asked to join them backstage. They claimed Miss Nymphia asked them to do it. So naturally he accompained them. He was left in a small room with a TV and snacks. The members of the staff told him to wait and they will take him to the meet and greet when there were few people. Shoto hung out there for a bit, even chatted a bit with Fuyumi who asked how his date was going.

Shoto arrived at the line when there were already 4 people. He could see Nymphia smiling and signing some albums and of course recieving gifts. The hero had a paper bag from some store where Natsuo had bought him some shoes, there he got the gift for the girls and some things he wanted signed.

"You came," Nymphia said, recieving the album from Shoto's hands "Only one? I thought you were a huge fan."

"It would be rude if I didn't show up and the rest didn't fit on a regular bag," the woman giggled, he is really honest and transparent "here, I got you this."

Shoto handed the keychain with two crochet charms, the head of a cat and a rabbit. The woman smiled and looked at it.

"It's really pretty! I'll put it in my bag," she said, handing back the album and standing "Well, the event is already over... Do you have a driver's license?"

Few moments later and Shoto was driving a black rental car, Nymphia sat beside him. The hero is talking about some minor villains and she is talking about work. They stopped to eat some ice cream and walk in some calm park, still she had to wear a cap and glasses.

"Uhm, those aren't sunglasses," Shoto said walking beside her.

"Yeah, my eyes are kinda sensitive, since my pupil is white I see more bright colors and my eyes get tired really easily," she explained "Even if it's dark I use glasses because of farols and car lights."

"That's not public information," Shoto added, knowing his bias and crush database didn't contain any of it.

"Uhm, yes, I wear custom contacts on red carpets and things that actually don't need much emotion," she continues, licking her cherry ice cream, "You turn, tell me something no one else knows."

Shoto thought for a moment. He usually told things to Fuyumi or Yaomomo, Deku, Kirishima and sometimes even Bakugo. He really was with a blank mind, until he remembered.

"Nymphia and I have spoken before," the girl tilted her head, letting him know she was totally unaware "To-do-ro-ki, Tokki."

"Like rabbit in korean? OMG Are you really Tokki?" Shoto nodded and she oppened her mouth in a surprised smile, "Tokki is so kind, I mean, you're so kind, you always ask me how I'm doing and told me to eat well."

The half and half nodded while eating his ice cream. He felt warm on his cheeks as the woman thanked him for his attention.

"Oh, so the keychain, it's you! Tokki!" She realized and Shoto felt something wrapping his arm and he looked down, it was Nymphia's ribbons "Sorry! When I'm really happy they just wrapp around something."

Of course, she omited the fact that her ribbons wrapped around the object or person that generated that happiness.

"But if we have chatted there that means you're paying the most expensive membership!" Shoto nodded, again blushing. He was actually lucky that she was shorter than him, that way she probably couldn't notice. "And that means you already got the ticket for the show and the meet and greet."

"Yeah, your tickets were still better than mine. I got to be seated during the line and had an awesome place for the show," he remarked "Why did you give them to me?"

"I was gonna send them to your agency and that day we meet, and I always have some spare tickets," she explained and Shoto nodded, again wondering about what were the odds of both running into each other "Give me your phone."

Shoto handed it without any question, she tipped something and then gave it back with a contact card.

"Min Jinhee, who's she?" he asked, reading his phone.

"It's me, Shoto!" She said, “Just call me Jinhee.”

Night went just fine. Chatting about anything and sharing memories.

"Should we have lunch tomorrow?" She asked.

"Sure."

"Can I go to your agency?"

"If you want to."

"It's a date then," Jinhee smiled widely while looking at the street.

Currently Shoto was driving her to the hotel where the staff and group members were staying. After having a light dinner of street food and ice cream both had thought that was time to call it a day.

"See you tomorrow," she said as both took off the seabelt "what you doing?"

"It isn't my car."

"Go home and tomorrow you'll give it to me, don't worry, Shoto," The woman went down the car and gave him a last look "Bye~."

The pro hero waited for her to be completely inside the building and then started driving back to his house. He thought about her eyes, it sure was uncomfortable having lights all over her face at the end of a performance. He thought about the ribbons, how they actually worked and what they could do.

Shoto left the car outside his house, since it wans't actually built for keeping a car. He left the car keys in the same place his siblings and father left their house keys.

"You bought a car?!" Fuyumi exclaimed as she passed by and noticed the keys.

"Shoto bought a car?" Natsuo asked from the kitchen.

"SHOTO!" His father yelled from his room.

He gave quick explanations about the car as his family sat on the tatami getting ready for an interrogation.

"How was the date?"

"It wasn't a date."

"Then what did you do?"

"We had food and ice cream."

"It was a date."

"What's her quirk?"

"Don't think I should tell you that."

"Then who are her parents? Are they heroes?"

"Don't know, she's a foreigner."

"What's her name?"

"It's Ji... Nymphia."

"The idol?" Shoto nodded. Fuyumi, Natsuo and Enji looked at each other and laughed, "You cannot be dating her, Shoto."

"But I am, tomorrow we're having lunch. If you excuse me, I have work tomorrow."

Shoto headed to his room, took off his casual clothes and took a quick shower. After drying his hair, he laid on the futon, the night replaying on his head as he looked at the ceiling. Her laugh when he made a joke, god how he loved that laugh, her way of telling his things, how she would get closer to him. Shoto wondered, was it fan love? Or genuine love? And well, he wouldn't call it love, after all they had just known each other.

So, he just fell asleep. Waiting for tomorrow.

Next day he did as it was normal for him. Only thing different was that he had to drive the car and left it at the parking slot of the agency street. The sidekicks wondered about the car just when he entered the agency. The hero did his normal activities, patrol in the mornings and do some paperwork till lunch. It was already past the time he usually had his lunch but he had a date. It would be rude if he just ate before Jinhee arrived.

"Sir, there is a woman saying she's having lunch with you," The sidekick entered the office and made the announcement. Shoto nodded.

"Let her enter."

Few moments later the sweet voice of the idol greeted him with happiness. He stands up and gives a little tour of the office for the curious blue eyes he loves so much.

"It was my father's before his retirement."

"Really? Your father is Endeavor, right?" Shoto nodded, "Well, Shoto, I brought the food."

"I thought you'll want to go to a restaurant," Jinhee gestured with her head, taking out the disposable containers with food and leaving them where Shoto indicated.

"I like private places."

"Well, then we should eat," Shoto took a seat in front of the woman "Thanks for th..."

"SHOTO!"

"Father?"

"I told him to not do that"

"Fuyumi?"

"We brought food!" His father anounced walking towards the table.

"Excuse me for a second," he standed and Jinhee laughed a bit, "What are you doing here?" Shoto asked his sister.

"Well, father wanted to come to see her and I thought we could have a nice lunch together, Natsuo couldn't make it so it's just us," Fuyumi explained, handing Shoto bags with plastic containers "Don't be mad."

"I guess it's okay, and dad?" The younger one looked for him, his father seated beside Jinhee, both chatting like a pair of old friends.

Fuyumi giggles as both siblings walk towards Jinhee and Enji.

"So, what's your quirk?"

"Dad, c-come sit with me," Fuyumi said, impressed by the beautifull idol in front of her. Enji changed places.

Now, Shoto sat beside Jinhee and Enji next to Fuyumi.

"Jinhee, this is my sister Fuyumi and my father," Shoto introduced.

"Y-You really are Nymphia," The white haired woman remarked.

"It's a pleasure getting to know Shoto's family, I'm Min Jinhee," She introduced herself, "Answering Enji's question, my quirk is called Ribbon Harmony. I can create and control ribbons that emit calming waves and when wrapped around someone help me understand their feelings."

"Your ribbons are super pretty! Shoto and I always watch your performances and they are awesome!"

"Oh, thank you, Fuyumi."

The next couple of hours all of them enjoyed food and a good chat. Until the idol recivied a message.

"You'll have to excuse me today, Enji, Fuyumi. My manager has already arrived."

"Oh, you really have to go?" Enji asked.

"We flew back tomorrow and we have a live interview at night," she explained.

"We'll be watching! Bye," Fuyumi said and Enji said goodbye too.

"I'll go with you," Shoto standed and walked with Jinhee out the office, "My family came by surprise, I'm really sorry if you felt uncomfortable."

"It's okay, Shoto. They're really cool," She smiled and looked at him with those bright light blue eyes.

"Jinhee... You said this was a date, are we dating?"

"I don't feel good asking you to date me because of my work and distance. I think it would be selfish.”

Shoto already knew what he wanted. He knew how he felt. Just one night was enough for him to fall head over heels for her. Jinhee was so much more than a pretty face. She was caring, sweet and thoughtfull, and so much more that Shoto still needed to know.

"I want to know you better, if you let me," Jinhee smiled and nodded.

"Godbye, Shoto," Jinhee stood on her toes, barely reaching Shoto's cheek, where she landed a soft kiss, "Don't forget to write me!"

"And now we're going to see what the girls have been doing during her stance here," the man said, "They went shopping and exploring caffés!"

"What did I miss?" Shoto asked, returning to the living room.

"The MC followed your girlfriend," Natsuo said, pointing at Nymphia reacting to the pics.

"We're not a couple," Shoto remarked.

"Yet."

"And Nymphia even meet the prohero, Shoto, maybe a date?"

"Shit, they really followed her!" Natsuo exclaimed.

Pics of Shoto and Jinhee eating ice cream and chatting started showing up on screen. The wide smile of the woman on the screen now is a subtle smile while listening to her friend's whispers.

"So, Nymphia, are you dating Shoto? We know you're his type."

"No, we're not dating. We just met," she explained.

The faces of the four other girls being a blank expression, looking at the sides of the set, clearly uncomfortable.

"We'll come back after commercials, stay with us!" The other MC announced and the program changed to publicitary space.

Shoto's phone rang. The family locked their eyes on him.

"It's Jinhee."

"Go, go answer my daughter in law," Enji said and Shoto excused him from the room.

"Dad!"

"Shoto, hi," she greated, "I'm so sorry, I didn't knew."

"Don't worry, how are you?"

"I'm really upset, I should have known."

"Don't say that, if someone should have known it should be me. I'm the prohero..."

After that Jinhee didn't come back to the program.

"What happened after that mama?" the pink haired boys asked. "Well, your dad went to the airport before I left and my agency had to release a statement. After a few years we married and now we have you both and your sister," Jinhee said, touching the nose of both boys and the baby on her lap.

"Boys!" the voice of Enji sounded across the rooms. It was the exact same scream he calls Shoto even to this day.

"It's grandpapa!"

They boys runned to the man outside the room as Jinhee holds the baby and walks to reunite with her father in law and her husband.

"Hi, honey," Shoto says, leaving a kiss on her lips and holding the little baby, "hi there, baby."

Jinhee returns to the bedroom, enters the bathroom in order to prepare a bath for Shoto, who came back from hero duty. Just a few minutes later, the man embraces her from behind, slowly falling into his knees.

She smiles, a hand running over his face as his head rests on her lap.

"Sometimes I feel guilty for you staying at home," Shoto says, "I know you chose this, but I can't help this."

"I can always launch an album, Milfs are a hot topic, ya know?" Jinhee jokes and Shoto laughs a bit.

"I shall get you pregnant again," he whispers, head now in between her breasts.

"The kids?" she asks, Shoto kissing her neck.

"With grandpapa."

"Then I guess we can play a bit..."

the character everyone gets wrong

I would love it if writers and fans stopped treating Sebastian Shaw as a sexist strawman. I think the most ridiculous recent example was Shaw arguing against Curse’s resurrection in X-Men Green, and Kitty accusing him of having problems with powerful women he can’t control, and name-dropping Jean “Fire and life incarnate” like that’s supposed to intimidate Sebastian. Give me a break, are we really girlbossing Curse? I think Sebastian opposes Curse’s resurrection because she went a killing spree that makes her a liability to Krakoa.

It's also…..interesting to me that Sebastian is treated like the epitome of rich white male privilege. I mean, I get it, he is rich and white and male, and he acts like he spends all his free time swimming in the money bin, but he also grew up in poverty. There are plenty of rich characters born into wealth who don’t get this treatment.

I’m assuming this means just fandom related, not real world issues. But if I can veer away from X-Men fandom for a second, I really, really hate the way English-speaking manga fans have picked up the word fujoshi and turned it into “those awful women who fetishize MLM” The original meaning of fujoshi, or “rotten women,” was misogynistic and homophobic male manga fans insulting any woman who was a big fan of anime/manga, and especially women who shipped M/M. Japanese female fans embraced and reclaimed the term as a kind of badge of honor. And now English-speaking, mostly Western fans on Tumblr have snatched up the term, which they don’t fully understand, as a way to differentiate themselves, the “good” M/M fans, from those awful fujoshi, the “bad” M/M fans. I honestly think it’s racist to use the word that way. You don’t get to enjoy Japanese BL/yaoi manga (or ship characters from manga) and also steal a word from Japanese fandom and use it incorrectly to bash on other fans. If you want to talk about female fans fetishizing gay men, that’s a conversation we can have without taking a word out of context from another culture. Personally, I think the main thing that really matters is how people treat actual, real life LGBTQ people.

4. what was the last straw that made you finally block that annoying person?

Aside from those friendly pornbots, the main people I block are random strangers that I see having shitty opinions on threads reblogged by people I follow (the people I follow are generally reblogging a refutation of the shitty opinion). So anyone posting, say, anti-trans stuff gets a block immediately.

I’ve never blocked a mutual or someone that I previously followed, it would take a lot to get me to do that. There was one blog that I had bookmarked and frequently read back before I had a tumblr account, because they mostly posted about a character I like. Their posting got gradually more and more red-pilled – they started posting Jordan Peterson videos, then it was pro-Trump stuff. I don’t know what the hell happened, they had seemed like an intelligent and empathetic person. I never officially followed them on tumblr, but last time I checked their blog, they were whining about SJW. Blocked.

I think it all comes down to the individual fans. Any ship can be annoying if it gets large enough that it sort of dominates fandom, but I still don’t mind if the fans are well-behaved. Ship wars in general annoy me – ship and let ship, as far as I’m concerned. I probably get more annoyed with people who make a big deal about hating a particular ship. I don’t mean just disliking it, or making a few posts venting about the ship or fans being annoying, I totally understand that. I mean constantly posting about how much they hate the ship, like it’s their own personal crusade.

That Pyro and Avalanche have not kissed yet.

12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them

Morph from TAS. Look, here’s this upbeat and cheerful mutant (who is also kind of annoying, admittedly), who is “killed” while trying to protect their friend, and then goes through absolute hell being manipulated and tortured and turned against their own team and having to confront their own dark side because they did terrible things, that’s an interesting character right there. And Exiles Morph shows that TAS Morph has a ton of untapped potential in their powers. Not to mention, we know so little about the character and their background, you can project whatever fanon you want onto them. (Slaps roof) This bad boy can fit so many headcanons into them!

While I’m at it, I’ll also give a shout-out to Spyke from Evolution, a cute and likable kid with very cool powers, who also goes through an interesting arc with his powers visibly mutating his body, and he goes underground to live with the Morlocks and becomes their protector (which is nice, given that the X-Men mostly ignore the Morlocks). And unlike Morph, Spyke was actually a main cast member on the show. No offense to X-23, but how is it she got imported into the comics as a major character, despite only appearing in two episodes, and Spyke never really did? (I know the answer – it’s because she’s a Wolverine.)

13. worst blorboficiation

Leah Williams completely re-writing Blob’s personality. Don’t get me wrong, I like a more thoughtful, sensitive Blob, I like chill bartender Blob living his best life on Krakoa, I don’t like a personality change that barely resembles the old character. I like Blob’s big and loud personality, even when he was often an obnoxious jerk, and I think there are ways to write him more sympathetically without completely losing that.

To be honest a lot of Leah Williams writing is just…..a little too Tumblr for me? (Outside of other issues) Like I totally love and appreciate the jokes and memes people make on here, but I can’t stand Jubilee using the phrase “juicy dumper” to describe having a nice ass. Not because Jubilee can’t talk about sex or her body, or be vulgar, she’s a grown adult mother. Just that “juicy dumper” sounds so fucking stupid, even for Jubilee, who is a slang queen. It’s speech that works online, but people shouldn’t actually say it.

14. that one thing you see in fics all the time

If we’re talking about things that annoy me, the obvious influence of TV or movie versions of characters when people are supposedly writing the comics version. Or people tagging all possible adaptations, even though those have wildly different versions of the characters. I don’t mind people being creative and adapting various versions of the characters, I do mind people claiming they’re writing the comics character, and it’s obviously the movie/cartoon version. Or going into a fic not knowing at all which versions of the character I’m going to get. That’s probably my most petty, gate-keeping fandom opinion.

15, that one thing you see in fanart all the time

I really don’t have a problem with most fanart. I do get tired of Madelyne Pryor fanart being all evil-sexy-boobs-out Goblin Queen, but in fairness, that’s how the comics have been depicting her for years. And unless you tag it as Maddy, or put her in her flight suit or Anodyne costume, it’s hard to know it’s her otherwise.

16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)

The Wolverine/Jean/Scott “love triangle,” I’m so tired of it, but Wolverine writers will never let the whole Jean thing go. I think fandom is actually pretty divided on it at this point, but there are plenty of people that still seem to love it, or want some kind of poly thing between them. (I don’t have an issue with a poly relationship in comics, I just have an issue with Jean/Wolverine.) I hate it because it feels forced, because Wolverine has had many partners and it seems like writers just want him to be the cool guy who gets all the women, and because they want some of the conflict between Wolverine and Scott to revolve around Jean, even though it’s already an obvious conflict between team leader and Guy Who Hates Authority. I have never read any kind of attraction on Jean’s part that has convinced me, it just feels like Wolverine either pining for or chasing after a woman who is not interested, and who is already with someone else. I’d much rather see Wolverine/Storm, or Wolverine/Storm/Nightcrawler if people want a poly ship. That’s actually a romance growing naturally out of friendship and mutual respect, not “The cool rebel guy likes The Girl, and therefore he should have her.”

Shinobi Shaw. He’s a hot bad boy with a history of being abused, he’s the son of a prominent villain, he’s bisexual and has an amazing fashion sense (when he’s not in Marauders). He’s a poor little meow meow. He has all the qualities that should make Tumblr latch onto him, but for some reason people haven’t. Maybe because he hasn’t had much to do in the Krakoa era outside of Marauders, and he didn’t really get to do much in Marauders, either.

I’ve been trying to read some of the original X-Men issues, like the stuff from way back in the 60’s, and wow is it a slog. I’m honestly mostly bored with the original five, I like Jean and Bobby, but I think the book gets way more interesting when the Giant Size X-Men show up.

Big comics events, editors please stop making writers interrupt their stories every few months for the latest “event.”

But the recent specific thing is Mr. Sinister. He’s a fun and entertaining character, but he or one of his clones have played SUCH a big role in the Krakoa books, and we just had an entire event about him taking over, and it seems like his story still isn’t over, I’m honestly just tired of him. I’m glad classic Sinister went into the Pit, but there are still three clones running around to fill the void, and they’re not that interesting either. I don’t want Sinister to leave the books entirely, I just want him and his variants to GO AWAY for a little while.

Also, why has no one put Pyro and Fabian Cortez together as a musical duo when they both can canonically play instruments. (Or at last, Fabian says he can…..)

I can’t think of any ship I actively dislike that I’ve been convinced to like. But I have been introduced to ships that I hadn’t thought about before, like Maximus/Namor, or Gambit/Quicksilver, or Unus/Blob. I was already into Sam/Bucky, but fans have got me liking it even more.

Things aren’t so bad on Tumblr, but on other social media like Reddit, any time a character in super-hero comics is LGBTQ. It doesn’t matter if it’s a pre-established character coming out, or a completely new character, all the assholes come crawling out of the woodwork to explain why they totally don’t have a problem with gay characters, they just don’t like the way this particular one is written. Every time. There is no winning with these fans. If it’s an established character coming out, then we get “Just make a new character, don’t change an established one!” Even though comics are full of other types of character retcons. Even though creators were restricted in depicting gay characters for decades (and to some extent probably still are), and a lot of meant-to-be-queer characters got straightwashed. Even if it’s a minor recurring character whose sexuality was never previously established. If it’s a completely new character, then they are an example of comics going “woke” and caring more about agendas than storytelling. If the character’s sexuality is not a major part of their storyline, then they’re a token, if it is a major part of their storyline, then the character’s whole personality is about being gay. There is no “right way” to write LGBTQ characters for these fans, because they really just don’t want gay characters in their super-hero comics.

This also applies to just about anytime a character is something other than a straight white dude or a conventionally hot woman. “I just want good storytelling, not forced diversity!” people say about Kamala Khan, a popular and well-written character who has carried her own book with a great supporting cast for years.

Anything negative about the inclusive nature of A03. Use the damn tags, or else go construct your morally pure fandom archive somewhere else.

just a little one ! i am very new to dc + marvel comics and find myself often overwhelmed with the amount of issues there are to read. i’ve got the spirit, but i may or may not know the basics about your muse when it comes to comic based portrayals. i apologize in advance, but it’s nothing a little plotting can’t fix, so if i pop into your ims with stupid questions about your muse, this is why. but as always, if you’re still down to clown, i am very much too !

i'll be frank : i write pretty sporadically, and this goes for ic and ooc interactions. i can get overwhelmed juggling responsibilities often, and socializing is one of the first things to go. i un / fortunately work 40 hour work weeks, and only get every other weekend off, so my schedule makes consistent activity difficult on top of my focus. if i can successfully plot something with you, i find my muse is sooo much more involved, but i'm contradictorily bad at it due to the reasons above ; it's truly hit or miss, and i understand if that becomes frustrating for any of my partners. sometimes i’ll be able to get out a couple drafts a week, others merely once, or not at all. if i haven’t replied or answered something in a while, please know it’s nothing personal, i’m just taking my time until i feel good about what i can put down. writing is a hobby i enjoy, but if you're looking for a blog with any sort of regularity, this isn't the one for you. i have other rp blogs i try to run as well, therefore i might be very slow on this one at times. i can be quite the flaky rp partner, so i apologize in advance for that and completely understand if my antics [ or lack thereof ] result in an unfollow. if i go longer than two months without activity, i'll try to make a hiatus notice.

because of the previously stated, i’m also highly selective with who i rp with. i want to not to bite off more than i can chew, and for the sake of pacing myself, my activity will be reserved for mutuals only. if my thread count gets too high for my liking, it's not uncommon that i drop threads, but i will absolutely try and let you know if that happens. duplicates are always welcome <;3 [ let me know if you need me to tag same - muse posts and i’ll be happy to ! ] i regularly go on softblocking sprees to keep my follower count semi - low, but do feel free to re - follow if you feel like the stars merely misaligned for our first bout of mutual following and i'd be very down to give it another shot. on that note, it'll take me a week+ to follow back sometimes, as i like to read through not only rules, but dossiers and verse pages, especially for ocs, so it can take a hot minute.

the basics ; don’t be an asshole, any transphobia, biphobia, homophobia, racism, whitewashing, pro - shipping, incest, etc, will be blocked on sight. no godmodding, please cut your threads, continue asks in new posts, etc, and no stealing of any personal concepts of mine. loose inspiration is fine, but if i see repeated similarities, i may or may not approach you about it. formatting - wise, here is an example of my prose style. i primarily use big ol’ text and static or no icons, beta editor + xkit rewritten, but feel free to format however you like and i’ll try to match you somewhat. since my concussion, however, i will no longer be threading with super small text or anything heavily formatted, as this can strain my eyes and make headaches worse, even with my glasses.

i’m all about exploring meaningful dynamics, whether they be platonic, familial, antagonistic, pre - established, etc, so feel free to shoot me a message if you’d like to plot something out between our muses ! while the mun of this blog is 18+, smut just really isn’t my thing ; referenced ‘ offscreen ’ as it were is fine, as are nfsfw headcanons and such, maybe fade to black / time skips, but for the most part, you won’t find any roleplayed smut on this blog. this of course is muse dependent and does not apply to any underage muses. romance is fine to some degree, but again, if they are a child, anything beyond lighthearted and innocent experiences are off limits, no exceptions. if i see you’ve aged up a minor character for shipping purposes, it will result in an instant unfollow. if at some point i flesh out adult verses for them, these shipping rules will not change. on that note as well, i do prefer to rp with muns who are also 18+. i don’t see your age somewhere in your rules or pinned, it will affect my willingness to follow.

"Sorry! I can't afford to get caught!" you laughed, dodging a blast that was directed towards you from the Pro Hero who was known as Ground Zero.

You weren't sure how long you were playing this cat and mouse game with the Pro Hero nor could you count how many times you had slipped from his grasp and escaped. It was thanks to that one stunt you pulled a few months ago, stealing weapons that were being shipped for the military. It was a feat that you had pulled off all alone and the reason why you had a huge bounty on you. Since then, you were doing your best avoiding the Pro Heroes and police force. As a villain, you worked alone, doing whatever you pleased. And as you were doing your usual thing―which wasn't something good to begin with―you met the Pro Hero Ground Zero. He was a hero who's rising through the ranks with an explosive force, no pun intended.

It's been such a long time since he started chasing after you and every time you see him, you can't help but tease him. You were born with an odd quirk, one that gave you a form of a demon. There was a pair of horns growing atop your head, sharp teeth, and a tail. Your quirk was what you often call 'Succubus', you're able to emit a pheromone that causes people to fall victim to lust which can be used to paralyze victims. In addition, you get energy from the body fluids of the opposite sex. If you're filled with energy, you'll be able to perform feats that normal people are unable to do. Having things like sharp senses, fast regeneration, and super strength.

That aside, you were currently on the run, leaping from one building to another with your abilities. Ground Zero was hot on your trail, maneuvering in the air using his quirk to propel himself. The first time you met him, he had a very intimidating aura and he was yelling 'Die!' the entire time he used his quirk. He had great control over his quirk and natural abilities when it comes to combat. You used your pheromones when you meet a dead end and normally rely on your inhuman strength. And he was one of the few heroes that always managed to corner you.

"Fuck!" he cursed as you slipped underneath his arms and sent him flying into an old abandoned building.

But you always managed to slip and escape.

"You're trying so hard, Ground Zero-san. Are you sure that you're not falling for me?" you hummed, your tail flicking behind you playfully.

Bakugou was on his knees while you stood a few meters away from him. The abandoned building was covered with a sheet which prevented light from leaking in. But now there was a gaping hole from where Bakugou had crashed into, there was light and wind coming in. Your hair swayed from side to side as you slowly stepped towards him. You crouched down in front of him, placing a hand on his head and giggling softly.

"Hello? Are you still alive?" you placed your hand beside your mouth, a mischievous smile on your face. He grunted, getting up from his position and raising his right hand. Before he could even send a blast your way, you leaped out of the way.

He was quick. Using the smoke from the first blast to hide and give him the opportunity to plan his next move. As soon as the smoke cleared, he lunged forward with the help of an explosion. He seemed a bit more serious this time, his expression oddly calm. You dodged his attacks, just barely. It as was if he ignored everything else and just focused on catching you. A blast emitted from his palm that covered your entire visage and that was the deciding factor. He grabbed you by the wrist and threw you over his shoulder. Your back hit the ground and your lungs were robbed from air for a few seconds. He had you pinned down beneath him. You squirmed a bit, trying to wiggle out from his grasp.

"I hate your pretty face and your everything. What makes you think I'm falling for you?" he spat back at you. Despite being the one at disadvantage, you manage to laugh.

That's not entirely true. One, you're a villain and one that he had been chasing for a long time. No matter what stunt he pulled, you were always stronger than him. Two, he doesn't like your personality. You're cocky but at least your actions back up your words. And lastly, you're not supposed to look sexy but fuck! He'd be an idiot if he said that you weren't! You're always wearing a black-red off-shoulder shirt where the sleeves reach your wrists. skirt and those thigh highs that always distracted him, dear lord.

"Perhaps you had forgotten what my quirk is." you smiled innocently. Bakugou instantly let you go upon realization but it was too late. His sparks died and his knees buckled. It wasn't that obvious yet but you could see him slowly falling victim to your quirk.

“Was it too intense? Sorry! But you're so cute when you're quiet like this." you giggled, kneeling down to his level, poking at his cheek which elicited a groan from him.

"Shut up.....piece of shit....." he mumbled.

"Now, now, don't say that. I'll make you feel better. What do you say? A pretty good offer right?" you lifted his chin with your index finger. Despite being a villain, you had intentions of killing him, a Pro Hero who was just doing his job. Bakugou didn't say anything, afraid that his voice would betray him. His body was sensitive and every single touch drove him insane. When you begin to pull down his pants, his mouth fall open in shock but no words formed. They were at the tip of his tongue but he couldn't say anything.

An embarrassed flush decorated his scowling face as he glanced down at you who was preoccupied with getting his pants off. His cock sprang free in front you, fully erect and bigger than you had expected. You bent down and licked a strip from the base, you moved slowly to the tip where you swirled your tongue. "Fuck, you feel so fucking good. It feels so fucking good." he chanted, bucking his hips upwards and pushing his dick further into your mouth until it hit the back of your throat. Hi, what are your thoughts on Strickler/Barbara? How would Claire get the Decimar Blade to break it's hold on Gunmar's army? Also, due to a string of days where my mum and dad get mad at me, I feel emotionally worn out and stressed. It's nothing too serious, and I love my family but I'm tired of always keeping my head down and letting them walk all over me, I'm 20, and this shit needs to stop. I'm not asking that you play psychiatrist, but do you have any advice or encouragement for me?

Stricklake:

I ship it, partially because I was first introduced to the show via some pro-Stricklake content and so it became a key aspect of my understanding of how the show worked before I’d even seen a single episode, and partially because I find the character dynamics really interesting.

(That first point, learning the ship before the show, also influenced me regarding Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The first episode I saw in it’s entirety was Something Blue, where Buffy and Spike are magically compelled to get engaged for most of the episode. Seeing that with no knowledge that the characters actually hated each other at the time, and then discovering later episodes where Spike was in love/obsessed with Buffy, meant I accepted them eventually getting together as a given.

That episode also left me under the impression that Buffy was a comedy series in a horror-style setting, so … that was a learning curve.

Interestingly, the same concept of ship-before-show had the opposite effect in my watching of Voltron: Legendary Defender.

I had seen so much Lance/Keith shipping content before I got around to watching the show that I began under the impression they were an established couple. Therefore, it was really confusing when the first episodes had Lance viewing Keith as his rival and Keith barely noticing Lance’s existence.

I never was able to see their supposed chemistry in canon sources, only in fic and fan art. Of course, I also quit watching after Season Six - I was starting to lose interest in the show by then and decided to stop while I was still having fun.)

In Season One of Trollhunters, there’s a lot of dramatic irony in Strickler and Barbara’s interactions, because the audience knows he’s a Changeling and can catch the double-speak, which makes their scenes interesting to watch. (Except for some people, whose past experience being manipulated meant those scenes were triggering instead and drove them away from the show. Shipping is very subjective that way.)

Barbara is obviously drawn to Walter. Literally moments after she meets him, she asks Jim whether he knows if his teacher is single. Walter, I don’t think, ever intended specifically to flirt with Barbara - the charm and charisma is just a Changeling thing, “yes, human, you should like me, you should trust me,” - and initially him dating her was taking an opportunity to put the Trollhunter in a vulnerable position. Developing actual feelings for Barbara caught him off-guard.

Barbara had a lot more agency and took more initiative in their relationship in the first season, both in starting their relationship (“Coffee? Dinner? Appendix removal?”) and in ending it. (“Don’t talk to me. You’re the one thing I’m looking forward to forgetting.”)

Yeah, while we’re on this subject: from my perspective, they broke up at the end of Season One, and whatever’s going on as of Season Three is a new relationship.

When they meet again in the third season, Barbara’s mostly reactionary, and Walter stumbles a lot because the writers seemed to be treating him like he was already finished his redemption arc by the time they met again in Parental Guidance, rather than still midway through it.

I’ve written before, I believe, that their Season Three dynamic would be much improved by the following two things:

1) If Walter actually apologized at some point; and

2) If Barbara had contacted him after getting her memories back in Parental Guidance, rather than him showing up at her house uninvited after the events of Bad Coffee. This would give him the chance to confess and apologize for his past misdeeds while confirming the truth of her recovered memories.

He could then either back her up when she contacts Nana and the Nuñezes, or convince her to approach the Trollhunter team first, which would give the kids a safe human adult to go to about troll stuff. Forcing the reveals had potential to go a lot worse than it did.

Having Barbara and Walter’s next contact be on her terms would have also balanced out their power dynamic a little. It’s always been skewed in his favour because he has more information than she does. Having him demonstrate basic respect for her boundaries, by not approaching her after the last thing she said to him was basically that she never wanted to see him again, would be more palatable as well as making her more proactive in their Season Three interactions.

So in my opinion, canon portrayal of this ship started strong but ended clumsily, which is where fanfiction comes in.

Trollhunter Claire and the Decimaar Blade:

I had assumed, or rather guessed, that the Eclipse Armour would let the Trollhunter steal and use the Decimaar Blade, which seems to be magically tied to Gunmar similarly to how Daylight is tied to the Trollhunter. (See: Gunmar conjuring his sword; Daylight vanishing when Draal tried to wield it.)

The spinoff novels Welcome to the Darklands and Age of the Amulet state that the Decimaar Blade used to belong to Orlagk the Oppressor, who was the Gumm-Gumm Warlord before Gunmar killed him and took his position. Therefore, we can conclude the sword is tied to the position of Gumm-Gumm ruler, and that rulership of the Gumm-Gumms is passed down by right of conquest.

I figured Gunmar would be killed by his own sword and the Trollhunter would get full control of the Decimaar Blade automatically. (I guess the Trollhunter could’ve still gotten the sword even with Gunmar killed by Eclipse if the writers had gone for this option.)

I don’t know how controlling the Decimaar Blade would work, but I assume it’s at least semi-intuitive.

It might be a burst where the Trollhunter frees every mind-controlled troll all at once, or Claire might have to go through all the Gumm-Gumms freeing their minds one-by-one and … dealing with any that weren’t actually mind-controlled.

Regarding family stuff:

That sounds like it sucks a lot and I’m sorry you’re going through it.

I don’t know how reasonable or unreasonable your parents and other family members are, so I don’t know how well it would go over if you were to say, “The way you’re treating me is exhausting and stressful and I need you to stop [doing specific thing that’s distressing me] and try [less hurtful/more constructive thing] instead.”

I also don’t know your job prospects or state of health or financial situation (because those are all facets of personal information you should not be sharing with a stranger on the internet), and so I do not feel able to offer the reassurance “You won’t have to live with them forever,” because for all I know moving out is not a feasible option for you.

However, if that does sound like something you can say to your parents and moving out is in your hypothetical eventual future, those are probably the best reassurances I can offer that are actually relevant, as opposed to abstract comfort like “so long as there is Internet, you can look at pictures of baby penguins whenever you have a connection.”

Is it better than working for someone else? Pros and cons? How much did you need to start up? I’ll try to answer this with facts and reasonableness instead of flapping my arms and screaming “It’s really haaaaaaard! Run before you get yourself into this!” :D

The way I got started is really shitty. Don’t start like me. My family and I decided to open a business with a tattoo artist. It was with the understanding he would help us learn the tattoo industry and that he would manage the tattoo artists while we ran the retail side of things. He ended up screwing us out of $80,000 and running away across the country only three months after we opened. Going into business with another person is extremely risky, and I wouldn’t do it again.

Startup costs are very high. You need to assume you won’t be “in the black” (making more than you’re spending) for the first five years your business is running.

I lucked out on this one because I was in the black within six months – only because I hired tattoo artists who rented rooms from me, so even during slow times I could get anywhere from $2500-$6000 from them a month. Other businesses don’t have that.

In the black doesn’t mean you’ve made back everything you put out initially. It just means on a month-to-month basis you’re bringing in more than you’re putting out.

You need a business license, your store’s name needs to be registered (and can’t be the same as any other business), there are permits, and lots of other things revolving around getting the space you need. All of those things I just mentioned cost money. The registration for the name alone is anywhere between $250 and $450. You’ll need to pay a business real estate agent to broker the deal, and he’ll take a percentage for his commission.

Most building owners will offer six months free rent if you sign a 5-year lease (I’m not sure about what they do for shorter leases), and then they’ll give you tenant improvement money. Tenant improvement money is what you use to make the space your own. Don’t consider it income because you WILL spend it on construction. Every year the rent will go up unless you have it specified as fixed in your lease contract. Most leases will NOT include this clause and your rent WILL increase.

Once in the space, you’ll be paying for utilities (which are more expensive than a home or apartment), rent, taxes, insurance (on the building itself, the items in your store, and for the people in your store), and any improvements you want to make beyond the initial tenant improvement.

My rent and utilities here are about $4500 a month, and that doesn’t include the cost of my products, taxes, insurance, or improvements. That’s JUST my running costs. Taxes vary greatly from one state to another, and insurance rates can be extremely high, especially if you have employees. My guys are considered renters/independent contractors in my store, so I don’t have to cover them beyond accident insurance.

Then you have to fill your store with something. We spent about $60,000 initially on products, and after the tattoo artist left us, we found out that all the product he had us get was shit (he thought he knew a lot, but he didn’t even though he’d been in the business for 20 years), so we ended up selling it for cost or below just to get it out of the store. Oh, and the $80,000 he took from us didn’t include the $60,000 in shitty products.

Right now I have about $100,000 of product in my store. It has taken me years to get to this point, and I still don’t even carry everything I’d like to carry.

Owning your own business means you’re working 24/7. You’re on call and it’s on your mind all the time. You don’t get to clock out and walk away carefree at the end of the day. You don’t get insurance (which is super hard to get when you’re self-employed and it’s out-of-pocket), and if anything goes wrong there’s a good chance you’ll have to pay for it out of your own pocket, no matter how much insurance you have on the building and your products.

You’ll need some type of cash register/inventory system. There are cheaper ways of doing this if you only have a few products, but I’m currently switching from an older version (which cost me $5000 initially) to a new system that is going to cost $540 a month plus startup fees and training that costs $1000. I have over 2000 different products in my store, so a small system isn’t an option for me. Someone who sells 5-50 items can get away with just a plain cash register and a merchant services account.

If you want to take credit cards, the merchant services will need to hook you up with this. The fees are anywhere from 1.9% to 3.9% plus a monthly subscription and also something like $0.10 per transaction. If you don’t go through a reputable company, you’ll be liable for any fake credit cards you run. I’d suggest renting your cash register/inventory system because then they have to keep you up to date with new tech and if something breaks down they have to replace it for you. Otherwise you have to pay out of pocket for everything and you’ll have down time while you wait for it to come in.

If your business doesn’t need a physical store somewhere, you’ll be cutting out a lot of the hassle and cost I’ve listed above. However, you have difficulties because suppliers won’t take you seriously and you run into legal problems selling things out of your home.

If you want to have an online presence too, you’ll need web hosting, registering your domain, and someone to build and maintain the site. I do all my own building and maintaining, and I still spend about $200-$300 a year on hosting and registrations.

If you want to dip your toe in this whole thing without renting yet, I’d suggest selling on Amazon or Esty first. They’ll charge you fees, but they’re not that bad, and if you promote and advertise yourself, you’ll begin to see what working for yourself is like.

I never get a day off. This work is REALLY hard. I have to deal with my guys all the time, and if I decide one day to hire a cashier or someone for the front desk, I’ll have to deal with watching them too.

People are awful and will screw you over any chance they get. A security system with cameras is a must, and you have to keep your ears open, eavesdropping on your employees every chance you get to make sure they’re not stealing or skimming. My security system was $500 for the cameras and DVR, plus the costs of a monthly service.

You might think it’s hard working for somebody else, but once you work for yourself, you realize why employers have to act the way they do. It’s sad, but true. Nobody is going to work as hard as you do for yourself. Everyone will try to take advantage of you. You might think people like you and are honest, but they’ll sell you out so quickly it’ll make your head spin, and it’s better to be a boss known as a tightwad or kinda bitchy than it is to get walked all over. If you don’t keep on top of them, employees won’t even treat your customers well, and you’ll lose a lot of business.

Employees have no idea how much they cost an employer beyond their hourly wages.

You also need to worry about your business banking accounts and credit cards. Buying product for your store from multiple places exposes your card, and in the last three months I’ve had to get a new credit card 4 times due to it being compromised (I wasn’t liable for the fraudulent purchases). I use PayPal or direct deposit as much as I can, yet it still happens very often.

Oh, and you also have to get “in” with distributors. My family and I call everyone we want to buy products from and keep pestering them until they let us sell their products. It took us almost 3 years to convince one of the ink companies to let us sell their product. Another place 6 months. Another one a year and a half.

In the meantime I sold their products at cost just so people would realize I had those products and come to my shop instead of someone else’s. The ink company I waited 3 years for? I bought their ink for $10.35 a bottle (shipping included) from another company, then sold it for $10.50 for 3 years. Now I’m able to buy it directly from the company for $5 a bottle, and my profit margin is totally awesome, and I was able to lower my price to $8.75, which means the customers will come here instead of my competitors! It was worth it to keep pestering the company :)

All in all, I’m extremely proud of what I’ve built. I don’t have to answer to anyone, and my hard work pays off. If you’re looking to work less than you are now, then running your own business is not what you’re looking for.If you’re a very hard worker, smart, and willing to deal with the shit you’ll get from everyone, then maybe this is what you want to do. If you’re a take-charge person who chafes under management because you are faster, do more, and work harder than everyone around you, this might be for you.

Don’t assume you need confidence to run your own business. I found this out very quickly. I wasn’t a very confident person, and I surprised myself and my family when the store opened because I just became this very confident person. I learned the industry quickly and I was good at it, which made me feel confident. Now the guys at the shop don’t even believe me when I say I’m quiet, shy, and not confident.

My family has owned their own businesses for a long time – my dad nearly 55 years, my mom never has worked for anyone else, my uncle for 25 years, etc. They all have been through the ups and downs. I’m new to owning my own business. I worked in the medical field from the age of 12 to 31, so it was a crash course in business. My family helped me a lot with the business, and we still all help each other. If I could go back to what I was doing before and get paid the same as I did before they outsourced their work, I’d do it, because it’s so much less stress. However, I’m very proud of what I‘ve built :)
