Jonas: One more thing, can we please talk about Manuel Neuer again… How good is this human, still? Sometimes I don’t understand. He saved a ball in the first half, 35 or 40 meters away from his goal. No goalkeeper IN THE WORLD would get the idea to go for this ball, to go out of the box.

Mats: And he does this in every game. In every game he saves 1 or 2 balls that go behind the defense, brutal saves. His way of thinking like a defender is extraordinary.

Jonas: And it’s so normal? He drives me insane. He’s like ‘Yup, sure, I’ll do it, I’m here. I’ll solve this with technique, left or right foot. Fine, I won’t pass the ball because it’s a little dangerous…’ and afterwards he looks calm.

Mats: I love that you mention that because if he could, he would pass the ball to defense – which wasn’t possible in that situation – but normally, he would. His head isn’t in panic mode, he doesn’t want to get rid of the ball, he wants to pass it on. That moment was insane because otherwise it’s a 98% goal chance. Those are small things that aren’t discussed afterwards because it wasn’t a goal chance but it was close. It’s never mentioned, it’s not in any statistics.
