Atom: I've always wanted to play a wild magic sorcerer, honestly, it's been on my bucket list since I first started playing 5e but I just haven't gotten around to it. My main problem is that I have a hard time roleplaying unique characters-- no matter what personality they start out with in my head I always end up roleplaying them the same. Unfortunately, I've been struggling with coming up with a sorcerer character that wouldn't very easily fall into the exact same "kind of naive stupid friendly boy" style roleplay (which both me and my tablemates are kind of tired of honestly haha). Atom here is definitely exactly that, so they're definitely not the sorcerer I'm looking for. Ah well, maybe someday.
As a tiefling Atom has tentacle-like suckers on their tail and probably the entertainer (gladiator variant) background, as callbacks to their squidsona origins!
Dain (/danny): As a human/pony he was a paleontologist named Danny Andrews, so I had fun adapting that to a more fantasy setting. Except that he looks like a lion, oops... His hair's definitely in a big ponytail in the back, but I couldn't figure out how to incorporate that here haha.
I opted for ranger over fighter because of the survival aspects for sure, and because of the more natural themes. If he were a beastmaster I'd hope to get him a pteranodon companion or something, but more likely he'd be a hunter I think. STR-ranger (Pretty sure those are viable?) with a warpick, maybe dueling fighting style? Two-weapon would be fun, too, I like the idea of duel-wielding warpicks haha. Probably the outlander background since it's what fits best of the top of my head thematically, though I think hermit is the one with the discovery feature (? iirc) which would fit his character better... Dunno. Might be overthinking this. Who knows.
Anyway, dwarf definitely fits him great; he's a prideful history-buff rock-lover. I feel like dwarves would be great paleontologists.
Shaun: Not sure if she'd go for way of the open hand or way of the four elements... On one hand open hand is (a) mechanically way better and (b) fits her magical-girl weapon (magic brass knuckles). On the other, four elements fits her personality well and fits with being a genasi. I was also considering her being a fire genasi, but the attributes didn't fit well enough (mechanically or flavor-wise) orz.
I'm really curious about monks, honestly. I've never tried playing one, though I was in a party with one a while ago. She was a runaway princess, I think, though her story arc never got fully resolved or revealed to the rest of the party.
And I really love genasi. I want to play one at some point, they're just So Damn Cool and +2 con (iirc?) is great no matter what kind of character you're playing.
I'm not 100% sure if I'd give her the urchin background or the acolyte background (aka the monastery she ran away from), or even like the outlander background; urchin would fit with her PMMM backstory and give her a cute pet rat, which I love, acolyte would fit with her D&D backstory and seems like a pretty Standard Monk Background iirc, but outlander would give her athletics and survival and is overall better imo. Maybe she ran away from the monastery into some mountains or something, or maybe the monastary was far from civilization; either of those could pretty easily give her the outlander background. Ehh who knows, it's not like I'm actually gonna play as her anyway.

👀 klahowya, i saw your tags on the ocqotd about your ocs' scars, and you said Immy has one on her stomach from a spell that burst with emotion...would you be willing to share the context/story behind that? 🥺 I love your content!

i actually changed this a little bit from its original story! so here's the newer backstory:
immy has ADHD and she is often overwhelmed by strong feelings. she never felt like she had to mask it, but a year after her brother went missing, she wanted to be less of an emotional toll on her family. so she began bottling things up (which she isn't used to) and one day, she just felt extremely overwhelmed because the clan was moving again and she lost control of a spell she was using to light a lantern.
she ended up burning an aravel sail and though most of the clan told her it was all right, she felt guilty and was ashamed at herself for that entire incident. and the scar was a reminder too.
(though it has a happy ending!!! her brother is found during inquisition. the clan at the exalted plains saved him from some slavers and had been staying with them)

Spicy: Dominance - Submission (just a funny little extra taste for those who prefer it 😉 )
This will be for my WIP currently called Guitar Hearts. There will be a total of five (5) characters!
Asher Schreave
Sweet: Confidence - always sure of himself and his actions. Thinks he has the greatest intuition in the world.
Salty: Emotion - does and feels everything with passion. Let’s his emotions take over his being.
Harry Griffin
Sweet: Peace - often keeps the piece between his band mates and helps solve fights or any indecisiveness between the group.
Salty: Cynicism - believes that people more often than not only think about themselves, has major trust issues.
Alex Cooper
Sweet: Intellegence - is very smart, can do extensive math/algebra problems in his head with no falter in accuracy.
Salty: Guilt - feels like everything is his fault once something small goes wrong.
Nash Parker
Sweet: Reason - a great listener. Good at observing the smallest change in emotion and guide others to emotional stability.
Salty: Emotion - not great at showing his emotions and talking about them to others. Very hidden from others.
Rosaleen Fae
Sweet: Love - would do anything for her friends. Even if it means going to this band’s concert that neither of them have heard of because they won free tickets.
Salty: Fear - when she feels fear, her entire body shuts down. Her mind races to understand the task at hand and will do whatever she is told, but she will act as a robot until it clicks the amount of danger she and her friends are in and she will fight to get them out alive even if that means she dies.

Semi/Infrequent Hiatus Note
Hey all!
I’ve been running OCqotD for almost two years now and it’s become the blog I run with the most followers, even amassing enough to do a giveaway earlier this year (which was super fun, and if we hit another milestone, I’ll definitely organize another one!) and I want to thank everyone for the support.
I’m very sorry for the drops in posts every now and again, to explain why, I had a job contract which ended a few months ago, and since then I’ve been super stressed looking for a job. I’ve also been working on a webcomic, as well as helping out on others’ webcomic projects as well, so between job searching and trying to write, I’ve mostly just been really stressed and struggling to focus on stuff.
I still haven’t found a job, and I’ll be queueing up as many new posts as I can, but please forgive me if the queue runs out and there’s a drop for a few days in content (feel free to shoot me an ask on here telling me...!!)
I’ll also be reblogging my commission and patreon / etc. post on here once or twice but I will not be spamming! Please blacklist the tag “takotopromote” which I will tag all non-OCQotD/updates under.
Thank you for your supports throughout the last two years and I hope to be back on track soon!!
