I love how I will wake up from a nightmare and then not be able to move much from the bed that day. Really adds a level of helplessness and panic in this 'struggle for survival' type life.

Charles is so close to you that you can breathe him in. His warm breath gently brushes your face, you feel the pressure of his big hands on your back and the thought that friends shouldn't look at each other like that makes your heart beat faster.
Because Charles is looking at you just like that. As if you weren't friends, as if the connection between you was more intimate than a friendship could ever be. As if he's willing to cross the invisible line that separates his lips from yours.
Your hands, resting against his hard chest, feel the strong heartbeat beneath and your fingers lightly claw into the fabric of the thick sweater as a sign for him to please be bold.
Take this step with me, it's supposed to say. Take this step and come to me.
And Charles even seems to understand. His gaze flickers from your eyes to your mouth, and you're so close you can almost feel his tongue against your mouth as he licks his lips.
And then his hands disappear from your back as he takes a big step backward. Your touch slips from his chest, his scent disappears from your nose, and a distance is created between you that you can not only physically see, but also emotionally feel.
When you look up into his face - a little confused - his features are harder than they were just seconds ago.
"Let's go," he says coldly, tucking his hands, which a moment ago had you pressed against him, into the pockets of his sweater. "I need some sleep before I leave tomorrow, and like you said, we also need to grab a bite to eat and head back home." He turns away from you, takes the few steps to the door, and leaves the store without looking at you again.
Puzzled and admittedly repulsed, you look after the man.
He had been so close to you just a moment ago - and all of a sudden there is an uncrossable ocean between you. What has happened that he is now withdrawing like this? Did you do something wrong? Forced yourself on him? Crossed a line?
No, after all, he sought your closeness first, pulled you closer to him, and whispered all those affectionate words to you that fogged your head and made little butterflies flutter around in your stomach.
But maybe that's exactly the mistake. Maybe you've completely misread the situation. Maybe he behaves similarly with his other friends. While you can't imagine how he would pull Pierre into such an embrace, every friendship is different, after all.
And lastly, you don't know how Charles behaves with his female friends either. The thought of him hugging other girls like that, too, and whispering such flirtations in their ears, makes your stomach tighten involuntarily. A nasty feeling that you didn't even feel when Raphael was flirting with other girls in front of you back then.
You suppress the nausea rising in you and follow Charles, who is waiting for you in front of the store, typing on his cell phone. You lock the door behind you and toss the key into the mailbox, which hangs hidden by ivy vines on the wall of the house next to it. Without looking at your roommate, you start moving. "Well, let's go."
The icy Nice night wind blows in your face and ruffles your hair as you walk back to the car, but Charles doesn't seem to mind in the least. "What do you want to eat?" he asks nonchalantly, still staring at his phone. He seems so far away, as if the moment just now didn't even happen.
You shrug, unsure how to handle the situation. "I don't care. You go ahead and pick something."
"We don't have a lot of options at this point," he counters as your car enters your field of vision. "It's really late and a lot of restaurants have already closed." He continues typing away on his phone as he unlocks the Renault. "According to Google, I think there's a bistro nearby where the sandwiches are supposed to be good. Would you be okay with that?"
"Like I said, I don't care," you reply to him, getting into the car.
"What kind of sandwich do you want?" he asks after plopping down in the driver's seat. "I guess they have one with lettuce, chicken, and avocado." He raises an eyebrow. "I think I'll order that." He tucks his phone away and starts the car before letting it roll out of the parking lot.
"I'll settle for a plain ham and cheese sandwich," you say, looking out the window.
The fact that Charles is pretending you didn't almost kiss just now unsettles you so much that you can barely look at him. And the fact that you wanted to kiss him - actually wanted to kiss him - almost makes you disappear into your seat in shame.
Because, as it seems, he doesn't want to. He draws the line between friendship and something more much more clearly than you do. And he doesn't seem to shift it to suit him. To him, you're his friend, his roommate, a means to an end until he can move into his other apartment.
You are his friend. Friend. Friend. Friend.
"Here we are," Charles breaks through your train of thought. He's already parked the car and points to the bistro on the street corner in front of you. A young man is tidying up the few chairs that are in front of the building and wiping down the tables with a rag. "I'll just get us something to eat. Do you need anything else?"
You look over at him with raised eyebrows. "I don't think we can get anything to eat there anymore."
"Why not?"
Confused, you look at him and point to the young man. "Because he's closing up store?"
Charles shrugs. "Just let me try it. It'll work," he smiles, and when you don't reply, he gets out. He jogs the few feet to the bistro and greets the man with a handshake, then points to the place. A little confused, but very pleased, the employee escorts your roommate into the building.
How could you be so stupid? How could you think Charles would want something more from you than friendship? After all, it's Charles - funny, caring, and so handsome that it partially takes your breath away and he sneaks into your dreams. Why would someone like Charles - someone who could really have any woman on the planet - want more from you when you couldn't even keep someone like Raphael?
You've known each other for three fucking days. What makes you think he could even feel anything else for you after such a short time? How delusional do you have to be to even have a thought like that?
You're on the verge of jumping out of the car and walking home.
How are you supposed to look him in the face now? Charles is not stupid, he would immediately notice that something is wrong. And you can't lie to him either, because he would see right through you. You don't want to face your feelings either, because that would mean that you have feelings for him that go beyond your friendship - and you are not ready for that pain.
When Charles steps out of the bistro onto the street with two bags in his hand, you feel sick. Your appetite is abruptly gone, and just the thought of eating something makes you scrunch up your nose. How are you going to be able to eat anything after what happened?
Pull yourself together, you tell yourself. That's not a solution either.
The only reasonable solution is obvious. The line that you've been pushing back and forth more than frequently over the past few days must stand nailed between you from now on. And it must be drawn up so that you can't cross it as you please. You have to protect yourself, protect your heart - especially after the thing with Raphael - and that's the only way without banning Charles from your life.
Because that's the last thing you want. And you'll do anything to stop that from happening.
"Here," Charles says as he rejoins you, handing you a bag. "I wasn't sure which ham you liked, so I just picked the one that looked the best." He places his own bag on the center console before steering the old Renault onto Nice's streets.
Silence settles between you as you drive home. While Charles takes a bite of his sandwich in the meantime, you pick apart the bread with your fingers.
To build this wall that is supposed to protect your heart, you need distance, which is definitely not possible in your small apartment. And the fact that you share a bed doesn't make matters any better, of course. For sure, it would be smarter if you reinstate your old deal - one of you sleeps in the bed, the other on the couch.
But how are you supposed to set that up after you just agreed on the new arrangement at noon today? Snubbing Charles would be too obvious. He'd notice something was wrong, and he'd definitely be able to conclude that it had something to do with your almost-kiss.
The fact that he will be out of the country for the next few days could be an advantage. The physical distance and the fact that you won't be spending every single second of the day together could build the wall between you up brick by brick. After that, you could claim that you are used to sleeping alone again - humans are creatures of habit, after all. And by then you will have shared the bed only twice.
That shouldn't really be so obvious - right?
"Don't you like it?" asks Charles as you cross the border to Monaco. His gaze lingers briefly on your sandwich, which by now looks a bit messy.
" Um, yes I do," you answer quietly and bite off a piece of it. Under other circumstances, the sandwich would actually taste delicious, but now it seems to have no taste at all. You chew on it a bit before choking down the dry lump of bread. "Thanks for getting us something to eat."
Your roommate smiles at you. "I'm sure my nutritionist would scold me if he saw me eating an entire sandwich in the middle of the night." He looks at the rest of his meal. "Even though it has lettuce and avocado on it." He tucks the last corner of his sandwich between his teeth, then grins at you with his mouth open.
You roll your eyes. "You're disgusting."
His grin widens even more. "You love me," he teases you with his mouth full before swallowing.
You don't even think to respond.
The rest of the ride is quiet, and even when you arrive home, you remain silent. The silence is not uncomfortable, but the tension between you is still palpable. As you stand side by side in the bathroom brushing your teeth, you avoid Charles' gaze in the mirror, which you can clearly feel on you.
The silence, however, gives you the opportunity to prepare yourself for what is about to come. It will be the last time you share a bed with Charles - which sounds like something you've been doing for years. The fact that your friendship feels like this doesn't make it any easier.
If Charles comes home from Italy and you tell him you prefer the couch, he will surely feel put out. And rejecting your closest friend in such a way may not feel right, but keeping you safe is a priority. One thing you had to learn from Raphael.
When you enter the bedroom in sleeping clothes, Charles is already in bed. He's lying on his side, facing the center, and apparently the man doesn't own pajamas, because his bare chest glows warmly in the light of the bedside lamp. He scrolls around on his phone, his upper arm resting on his side so that his biceps look even beefier.
"I set an alarm, hope that's okay with you," he says as you lie down on your side of the bed and slip under the covers. "I have to get out on time, and then we can have a proper goodbye."
You plug your phone into the charger and then place it next to your pillow. "It's all good. We'll be fine." You pull your blanket up to your chin and snuggle in deep, trying to block out the fact that Charles is lying shirtless next to you.
The brunette sets his phone aside, then flicks off the bedside lamp. As the room is in darkness, it feels like he's lying skin to skin next to you. You can feel his closeness, his warmth, and you would love to build a wall of pillows between you to bring the imaginary boundary into the physical world.
You turn onto your back and stare at the ceiling, hearing Charles move under his covers as well, and hold your breath as you feel him rest his hand on your bedding. It's like he's reaching out for your hand.
"I was with my ex yesterday," he says quietly, as if he doesn't dare say it out loud.
You try to suppress the tugging in your chest. You have no right to feel this way when at the same time you wish there were countless pillows between you. You have no right to it when you're trying to protect your heart. You have no right to feel this way about your friend.
"With Annika?" Your voice mirrors his, quiet, calm, hesitant.
You hear his pillow ruffle. He nods. "She's the reason you and I share the apartment. She's living in my first apartment right now. Well, I'm still letting her live there."
You purse your lips. "Your buddy from yesterday - he said he heard about you two and that he was sorry." You fight the urge to reach for his hand and intertwine your fingers with his. Him revealing himself to you is something you didn't expect.
"Yeah, that was Nico." He takes a deep breath. "Annika cheated on me."
Confused, you turn in his direction, even though you can't see him. "And then you still let her live there?"
He turns as well, facing you. "I wasn't a good boyfriend during the years we were a couple. My job was always my priority, I couldn't give her what she needed. She tried - really tried - but I never really got into it and -" He rubs his palm over his forehead.
"- and then she cheated on you." You feel like wrapping him in your arms. "Are you letting her stay in the apartment because you feel guilty?"
"I - I don't know - maybe -" His breath catches and you can clearly hear him struggling with himself. "Maybe if I had paid more attention to her, this wouldn't have happened. If I had taken more time to be with her. If -"
"Stop," you interrupt him harshly, "We're not going to continue this spiral of thought. There's no point going through the ifs, ands, and buts because you can't change it now. You can't change the fact that she cheated on you, and you can't turn back time to make it better. The only thing you can do is do better next time."
The thought of Charles eventually having a new girlfriend and making a real effort with her makes you feel sick. You don't like it, this fucking jealousy that's spreading through you, creeping through your veins like battery acid and leaving a sickening taste in your mouth.
You try to mask it, even as tears spring to your eyes. "I don't know how exhausting your job in the car industry is, but maybe you can find someone who can walk the road with you. Who can travel with you when your job requires it. Who will stay by your side and support you when things get tough and stressful." Your voice trembles, and you hope Charles can't hear it.
"Do you think there's someone like that for me? Who's willing to give up that much for me?" he asks, scooting a little closer to you.
The voice in your head almost screams at you - "me, me, me" - but of course you can't repeat that out loud, so you nod.
In fact, you'd be willing to give up everything for him, even though it's not much, of course. You have no job, no responsibilities except for the apartment, whose rent you don't have to pay, and you'd give anything to explore the world.
But Charles is your roommate, your friend. You want someone for him who can make him happy. Even if it's not you.
"Of course," you answer quietly, swallowing the lump in your throat. "I believe that there is a person out there for everyone. A soulmate to share everything with. Someone who's there for you and with whom you don't have to pretend to be somebody else."
"Hmm." You feel Charles' breath on your face. Only then do you realize how close he is to you. "So there's someone for you, too. Someone who will make time for you, won't let you down, and will take care of you. And most importantly, someone who doesn't fuck other women."
You have to smile. "The latter would be enough for me. But even that seems impossible. After all, look at us. We've both been cheated on."
Charles shrugs. "But if that hadn't happened, we wouldn't be living together now. We wouldn't even know each other, we wouldn't be friends." He exhales. "The fact that we both got cheated on really sucks, of course - but we found each other through it. And I wouldn't trade that for anything in this world."
Something tugs at your heart. You place another brick on the imaginary wall between you.
"I don't want to go to Italy."
"I'm afraid you don't have a choice."
Charles exhales a breath. "You said you were just going to sit here and wait for me to come home." He sounds concerned.
"I was kidding," you try to lighten the situation. "I'm going to work, of course." The lie tastes bitter on your tongue. "And I still have Kika and Pierre." You pause. "And Lando."
You can feel your friend stiffen beside you at the mention of the Brit. "I thought you're happy with the tiramisu you had here on site?" His voice sounds colder and more bitter than it did a few seconds ago.
"I am." You turn away from him, onto your back, to put distance between you. "But there are other desserts to try, aren't there? Or sandwiches. Pasta. Or something else. I've got to get these few days over somehow."
Unlike you, Charles notes that the meals you listed are all things you've already eaten together. That you would want to possibly top those few memories you have with him with Lando leaves a sickening taste in his mouth.
"Well, if you have to work and you're meeting with Kika and Pierre and we're facetiming in between, you might not have that much time to try other dessert. Or sandwiches. Pasta. Or something else," he repeats your words.
"We'll see. If there really is someone suitable out there for me, I'm definitely not going to find him on our couch." When Charles doesn't answer, you declare the conversation to be over. You close your eyes, snuggle deeper into your blanket, and try to block out the fact that the person you want - the one who might be right for you - is lying shirtless next to you.
You already have, Charles answers you in his mind, taking a deep breath. Your scent still clings to his bedclothes from noon today, his skin tingling as he breathes it in. Me. Me. Me.

If requests are still open, could you please do Soft!Dark!Daddy!CEO!Carol forcing herself on Secretary!Reader? Bonus points if she's trying to convince Reader to become her sugar baby.
warnings: smut, coercion, imbalanced power dynamics, daddy kink, strap on usage
sorry this took four centuries
"We both know you want me, just take the offer. I promise it's much better than working at a desk all day."
The fabric covered bulge pressing against your ass was too much on its own. It was overstimulating when combined with the fact you were forcefully bent over a desk by your boss of all people. Carol had always been a little inappropriate towards you, but you never thought it'd get that bad.
"Ms. Danvers, you have to stop! You have a meeting in-" Your attempt to push Carol away only earned a harsh slap on your backside. A low moan escaped from your lips before you could catch it. "I'm not interested in your proposition! Now let me go!" Every time you pushed Carol simply pushed back twice as hard.
"All they do is try to squeeze my pockets dry, but you're always there to make sure that doesn't happen. Don't you think you deserve a reward for keeping this company safe?" Carol pulled away just long enough to spin you around so your back was against the desk. Her hands groped at your ass before stripping your lower half. "Just let this happen, okay? Being my baby is so much better than worrying about those shit heads."
Another moan escaped your lips as Carol swirled the tip of her strap-on around your clit. "M-Ms. Danvers, this is really inappropriate! I can't- I can't just quit my job because you want to date me!" You tried pushing Carol off of you only to have your forcefully pinned to the side. Before you could even complain, your boss had buried herself deep inside your walls. "Ah- no! Stop that, please!"
Carol held both of your wrists with one hand and used the other one to stroke your face. "Shush, it's okay baby. You don't have to quit if you don't want to. That just means we'll have to keep it a secret." She whispered into your ear as she began rutting into you. A smile spread across her face as your moan started to get louder. "That's it, just let daddy make you feel good."
The title should've made you uncomfortable. It should've disgusted you how your boss had forced herself on to you and then took control of your body like it was nothing. But it didn't. The wetness leaking from your cunt and onto Carol's pants was proof enough. "Fine, fine! You win, just ah- we can't be late to this meeting!" You attempted to squirm away only for Carol to pull you back down flush against her hips.
"Awe, you're such a hard worker, but daddy would much rather spend time with you today. Why don't you clear my schedule for me, hm?" Carol reached into her back pocket and handed you her phone. "Go ahead, do your job since you want to work so bad." She watched as you hopelessly fumbled with her cellphone to make calls.
You took a deep breath and held the phone close to your ear, hoping the caller wouldn't hear the vulgar sounds coming from your pussy. "Uhm, hello. This is Ms. Danvers' secretary speaking. I was calling to tell you that-" You nearly screamed when Carol started playing with your clit. "That she unfortunately has to cancel today's meeting due to…uh, personal matters. Would it be fine if we rescheduled at the same time tomorrow? I- we could arrange a hotel room for you if necessary!" The call felt like it went on forever. Usually you were so quick with your responses.
"You're doing such a good job for daddy. We can buy you something really cute once I'm done with you for the day." She stroked your cheek like you were some sort of pet. "You want a reward, don't you?" She affectionately squeezed your cheeks.
You nodded, unsure of what else to do. You didn't want to watered down to some human fleshlight, but Carol was much too strong for you to fight. All you could do was obey. "I- daddy, I think I'm gonna cum!" Your declaration lit a fire in Carol. Her thrusts became tougher. If you weren't on the brink of the best orgasm of your life, you would've been worried about breaking the desk. "Fuck, fuck, I'm cumming! Sorry-" A wave of arousal shot through your body and right out onto Carol's pants.
"Fuck, baby. Are you always this messy or are you just happy to have a new daddy?" Her thrusts got slower until she was sure your orgasm was over. She slid out and sat down in her chair. "Ah ah ah, let daddy see you." She spread your legs apart and marveled at the mess between them. "You're such a pretty thing." She whispered before dipping her finger into your cunt.

job interview advice pls!
Research the company before hand via their website. Try to mirror the language they use publicly. If they have a section about company culture, talk up company culture. If they have their mission statement on their website, try to appear to align with their values. You don't want this to feel too rehearsed or fake, so don't practice too much and don't try to memorize things off their website. Just read it up and get a sense of their vibe and the words they like to use, and keep it in the back of your mind. If it flows with the conversation, you could casually mention you saw something on the website you had a question about, thus proving you did your research (which is good!)
Have questions at the ready, and don't have zero questions. In fact have a lot of questions. Have questions about the job and company (and benefits!!!!!), but also have questions about career growth and the next step process. I always ask "how many other candidates are you considering?" because this will give you a sense of where you stand. For example, they might tell you "we have several more we're interviewing this week" or they might say "we've interviewed about five and will be discussing our decision tomorrow." Or they might be so vague you can assume they're not going to consider you past this point. Other great questions are "What are the next steps" and "How soon will you be making the decision" so that you aren't walking out unsure of when, how, or if you'll hear from them again. Be your own best advocate. Another thing to ask is questions about the company from the interviewer's perspective - "How long have you worked here? What's your career path looked like?" People love talking about themselves and this also demonstrates you're looking to fit into the whole infrastructure, not just trying to land a job.
Try to treat it like a conversation. It can be intimidating if you're just starting out, but if you try to come off as a pleasing yes man so excited to answer the questions they come up with, that's not going to be very memorable. Also if while answering a question, you volley back a question at them, you have now done a little exchange of power where you are now in control of the conversation a bit, because they will answer and then you get to say the next thing. Once they're talking about something, instead of being in the position where you have to come up with interesting things to talk about on the fly and hope they're relevant, they might remind you of something worthwhile to talk about. Is it more comfortable being asked "What sort of difficult choices have you had to make" or having a conversation with a person who might say "I remember when I was first starting out such and such thing happened" which might genuinely remind you of a relatable experience you had totally forgotten about. See the interviewer as a resource of knowledge, not just gatekeeper to what you want.
You have to seem like a fun and nice person, and you should be honest. "I'm a little nervous, I'm really excited about this opportunity" is not cringy, it's relatable and an ice breaker, and you've turned your negative "I'm nervous" into a positive "I'm eager." Things like "I'm looking for something that has flexible hours" might cost you an offer at a job you'd be miserable at, which can be frustrating at first but good in the long run. You obviously want to be selectively honest and present things in a professional way, but people don't want to work with wet blankets and ego maniacs. Cracking a joke, laughing, talking up hobbies, these are good things. Finding some common ground with the interviewer is fun too, because sometimes you knock them off track and you guys are just shooting the shit, and then they recommend you because they just remember liking you.
Treat the interview like a reasonable and good process, even if you hate it. Yeah, you're on the back foot. Yeah, it can feel inane sometimes. If you go into an interview with a sour attitude about how it should work differently, it doesn't matter how good of an actor you are, it'll come across. You won't be prepared to treat it like it's worth the time for both of you. The interviewer is there to find someone capable, worth the effort, with some potential, so treat it like talking to you is worth it when they probably have 100 other things they need to get back to. You're there to show you can do the job, you're fun to work with, and you want to fit into the company culture and infrastructure, so treat it like you're marketing yourself. You have to sell yourself not as the best person for the job, but the best person for the company, and you're happy to talk about it for the sake of the interviewer giving you a portion of their day!

3.112 Cutting ties
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Love Day came upon us again, and it was so nice to have someone to celebrate with. Someone to celebrate, period. Sophia and I rarely did things traditionally, and I continued that trend by asking her out on a breakfast date. I suggested Vivianna's because it was the first place that came to mind, and I really liked their food. But Sophia was in goofball mode and said I wanted to see my girlfriend. I didn't like her saying that, but I loved seeing her in high spirits in those days, so I let it ride. When we got there, the host seated us at the same table from last time, and that sent her even more.
"It's a sign, Luca! If she's our server again, it's means you were meant to be."
I shook my head at her.
"You are way too high on life right now."
Tumblr media
She gasped, still giggling at her silly joke.
"Luca! She's here! I think she's coming this way!"
I was still shaking my head when Yasmine walked up.
"Happy Love Day," she said drily. "Y'all don't have restaurants in Oasis Springs?"
"Of course we do," Sophia said before I had a chance to even think of a response. "But we love this one."
"Hmph. You must really love this food. I wouldn't unfriend someone and still show up at their job. Are you ready to order?"
Tumblr media
Sophia looked at me in surprise but also trying to hide more giggles.
"Uhh...yeah, we're ready," I said, unsure if I should even respond to the first part.
When I finally looked at her, I saw her face matched her dry tone. Generally, she wasn't the cheeriest sim, but something was off. Granted, I was probably the last sim she wanted to see, but she should have been over that. Something else had to be going on, and I asked if she was okay.
"What do you care? I can't do this right now. I'll send someone else."
Tumblr media
She hurried away into the kitchen, leaving us utterly confused.
"What in the world was that?" Sophia asked. "And you unfriended her?"
"Yeah! She's been sending me mean messages ever since-"
"You broke up?"
"Would you stop with that?? She wasn't my girlfriend!"
I couldn't understand why she found this situation so amusing. It annoyed me, but her laughter was so contagious. I couldn't help but laugh, too.
Tumblr media
"Did she look different to you?" I asked.
"Sure did. I think she's pregnant."
"Pregnant? Yasmine? No way."
"She's definitely pregnant, babe."
"How do you know? She's not showing."
"Women know these things!"
"Hmph. Some sims don't need to be parents," I said under my breath. At least I thought I did.
"Luca!"
"What? It's true. She doesn't want kids right now. And she's mean...self-absorbed... Can you imagine her raising children?"
"I mean...I don't disagree, but... It's still not a nice thing to say. Maybe taking care of someone else will be good for her."
Nice or not, I meant every word. It was hard not to get upset about it. Sims all around us kept popping up pregnant unexpectedly while Sophia and I woohoo'd each other's brains out to no avail. WE want a baby! Why won't it happen for us? It wasn't fair. But I didn't want to ruin our date with my petty, jealous thoughts. That rant would have to remain in my head.
"Anyway... You excited about moving tomorrow?"
"You know it! I can hardly believe it."
"Yeah, seriously. I've been thinking about that house for so long... I have to keep reminding myself this is real life."
Tumblr media
My Social Bunny chime went off, so I checked to see who sent me a message.
"Oh...it's Maira."
"Why do you say it like that?"
"Like what?"
"Like you're surprised your friend is messaging you."
"I'm not surprised. It's just...I don't know. Every time I hear from her, I feel bad."
"How come?"
"Because I'm such a bad friend to her."
Sophia's lip quivered.
"I highly doubt that."
"It's true though! I never call her. She's always the one reaching out. Even back in the day it was like that. When I was open to dating her-well, she says we did date, but whatever. I got mixed signals, so I kinda stopped putting energy into our friendship. Then I met Yasmine-"
"While you were talking to me," she said sarcastically.
Tumblr media
Like a light switch flicking on, I understood why she continued to joke about me and Yasmine. She still felt some kind of way about realizing she wasn't the only one I was talking to, and this was her brand of petty behavior. I shook my head because I knew she would never let that go, and the jokes were a permanent part of our marriage.
"Yes, I was talking to you. I met Yasmine and Chi Chi-"
"I thought you didn't date her."
"I didn't. She came to my classes a lot and invited me to her house a few times."
She eyed me suspiciously, but I continued my story.
"Dating, having female friends, and all of that was new to me. I didn't know how to say no to her. I couldn't say no to her; you know how she is. And I was talking to you on top of dealing with my own issues... It was a crazy time, and I didn't know how to handle it all, so I ended up neglecting Maira. I feel bad because it wasn't like that in the beginning."
Tumblr media
"You didn't have any distractions then."
"Yeah...that's true."
"Do you think it's time to let her go? Everyone's not meant to be in your life forever."
"I know. That might be part of the issue. I want to be a good friend while being respectful to you, but I honestly don't know how she fits into my life anymore. But severing the relationship? I don't think I want to do that. At least not yet."
"Okay." She turned back to her food and took a few bites before a very obvious idea let up her face. "Since we're moving now, we should do a combo celebration! We can turn my birthday party into a housewarming party! Invite her to that."
"Oooh good thinking! You know I married you for your brains."
"Ah ha! The truth comes out."

"boyfriend....for hire?"
The short red head in front of you nodded. she leaned in close, resting her chin on her hand as she smirked. "Yep. that right there will solve all your problems."
you looked up from the paper clearly unamused by your friends' antics. "What are you talking about Vex?"
Her eyes narrowed, but her grin never wavered. "Well, you were just bitching about your upcoming family dinner, and how your parents keep trying to set you up....You know some will even sleep with you after times up."
You gasped before glaring at her "Vex"
she leaned back, putting her hands up in defense. "I'm just saying~ I mean, what could it hurt?"
You looked back down at the paper, still unsure. "It feels... wrong."
Vex shrugged before crossing her arms over her torso. "Give it some thought. you got a week before the dinner. just uh... let me know how it goes?"
.
You sighed, looking down at the same paper from a few days ago. You had been debating if you should or not. You understood your parents were worried, but you weren't ready to hear it again. With shaky hands, you reach for your cellphone and slowly type in the number. With a deep breath, your pressed call quickly brings the phone to your ear.
It rang a few times before a female automated voice came through. "Thank you for calling callin' for love~. Please wait for representatives to help you." Soothing jazz began to play through the speaker, only making you more anxious. You just wanted to get it over with waiting and make you overthink.
God, what if this was a mistake? what if they turned out to be a murder? what if they - "Thank you for calling callin'" for love, my name is Jasper. How can i help you?" you paused for a minute. someone was there. "Hello?"
"h-hello?"
"Hello! how can I help you...?"
"y/n, and um, I'm looking to hire a boyfriend f-for a family dinner?" God, you hated this so much! it felt so embarrassing!
"Sounds great, y/n!" You could hear the typing of her keyboard ad she spoke. "Now, in order to find the man perfect for the job, do you mind if I ask you a couple of questions?"
you nodded, forgetting she couldn't see you before responding "yes"
"Great!"
.
the questions took a good couple of minutes with her cracking a few jokes, making loosen up a bit. "Well, good news, darling. we have the perfect match for you! Give me a minute to transfer you to him."
"What his name?"
"His name is Joesph, and he is an actor."
you gasped "an actor? Why is he doing this job?"
Jasper giggled. "Why not ask him yourself?" Before you could respond, the jazz from before came back on making you slightly nervous again.
.
Joseph's feet rested on his coffee table as he scrolled through social media. He thought it was funny how his children's show captured more than children's attention. Scrolling through the latest fanart became his new favorite hobby.
An alarm siren rang through the speakers of his phone at the caller contact of his side job shown on his phone. Sighing, he picked up the call, his head falling back on the cushion. "Joesph speaking."
"Hey Joe! it's Jasper I got a job for you if your intrested."
He hummed, mulling it over. Having the extra money wouldn't be so bad, and it would be nice to go out. "Okay, Jasper. fill me in."
.
The jazz music continued to play as your anxiety grew. what if she was having more trouble than she let on. oh God, this was a bad idea! maybe you sho-.
"Hello? y/n?"
you paused again, not ready for whoever was on the other line. it certainly not Jasper anymore the voice deep and a males. "h-hello?" Your voice was quiet, and meek I'm return making you cringe slightly.
You heard an airy chuckle before he continued. "It's nice to meet you, y/n. I'm Joseph. now I'm assuming you're calling this line for specific reasons?"
"y-yes. I have a family dinner coming up....I really dont want to hear it from them..." You rubbed the back of your neck, glad you weren't making eye contact with the guy.
"I hear ya doll. My coworkers are the same way. So what day is this family get together?"
"Um, this saturday?"
You hear some rustling followed by papers being flipped before he settled down. "That's perfect, actually. I'm off that day so we can arrive together to make it more believeable."
oh God, this is really happening! you were gonna introduce a total stranger to your family just to get them off your back. "c-can we meet the day before? I'll pay for it if I need to!"
He hummed in thought "mmm how does dinner sound then? We have a day of filming that Friday, but I can meet you for dinner?"
Once again, you nodded before giving a verbal response. "That sounds fine. Um, do you know that mom and pops Cafe on first?"
"Cara's Cafe?"
"Yes! how does that sound."
he chuckled again, putting down whatever paper he was holding. "Sounds great, doll. Here, let me give you my number so we can keep in contact."
.
It was a good thing you took his number when you did. Due to come technical issues, filming took longer than he thought, so he texted you to let you know.
So now you sit at the booth staring out the window, trying to calm your nerves. it wasn't a real date. Yet you were still meeting a stranger like it was. "I should've had Vex ghost our date."
As soon as sighed the bell above the door rang. Looking up and away from the window, your eyes meet with the one most beautiful brown eyes. The mam attached to them wasn't hard to look at either. If you didn't believe he was an actor before, you certainly did now.
He talked with the waitress before making his way to your table. "y/n?" You go to stand up, but he stopped you simply holding his hand out for you to shake, smiling down at you. "It's fine, really. It's nice to finally meet you."
You take his hand, giving him a nervous smile. "y-you too, Joesph."
"Joe is fine, doll." He sat down across from you, the smile never leaving his face.
"Are you sure?"
"Well, seeing as we have to pretend we didn't just meet each other recently, I would say so." He shrugs
"Okay... Joe," it felt weird saying his name in such a friendly manner despite just knowing him, but at the same time, it felt....nice?
"So I'm assuming you wanted to early to get to know me better." You nodded,"Smart. Then let's get started, doll."
.
The "date" went pretty well, you felt. You leaned the basics of his life and even got to hear what him and his costars. He seemed somewhat laid back, which put you at ease. You might even have to thank Vex later for the suggestion.
A knock bounced off the walls of your quiet living room as you placed the finishing touches on your outfit. "coming!" You called gathering your phone and keys.
When you opened the door, you had to stop gasping. He dressed really nicely. it wasn't a suit and tie, but damn did he look good.
He eyes you up and down, giving a low whistle. "Damn, you clean up nicely, doll." He held out his elbow for you to take. "Are you ready?"
You shut and lock the door behind you before wrapping your arm around his own. "You know I could say the same thing about you."
He chuckled, watching your movements. "What can I say? I wanted to leave an impression."
The two of you were making your way to your car when you scoffed. "On my parents? why? you will only see them once."
"Who says I wanted to impress them?"
When the two of you got close, you unlocked your car. However, before you could open the door to the driver's seat, Joesph beat you to it, opening the door for you. You turned to him face slightly red with a raised eyebrow. "Man, you really want to be hired again, huh?"
He smirked and simply shrugged. when you got into the car, he shut the door before making his way to the other side and climbing into the car. "Show me your music taste doll."
.
Joseph would be lying if he said it wasn't awkward at first. He was surrounded by strangers, but he played the role of boyfriend pretty well. Their father even seemed to take a liking to him, even asking for his help with the grill, and even bring him a cold one whe. got one.
The can opened with a pop followed sizzling from the carbonation before he took a long swig of the drink. "So how did you and my kid meet?"
Joesph had just opened his can when he looked up at your father. "Online dating. They just...stood out to me."
Your dad looked him up and down as if trying to determine if he was telling the truth. "Did you find out what the something was yet?"
"No, but I plan sticking around to find out and after."
Your dad smiled, patting him on the back. "Good man, Joe. Now come on! these burgers aren't gonna flip themselves!"
.
You watched from afar as Joesph interacted with your family. He was certainly putting his acting skills to use as he happily talked with your father and uncle. Not only did he get along with adults, but the kids seemed to love him as well. always showing him the things they color or make in minecraft. God, how has he not settled down by now?
"You made a good choice hun." You jumped slightly as your mom stood beside you, watching the crowd with you. "Heck even your dad likes him, and that's feat of its own."
You hummed, taking a drink of the drink in your hand. "Yeah. It kinda surprising, honestly."
Your mom chuckled. "Me too, but he must see something in him. It must be your sign."
You scoffed, rolling your eyes if only she really knew. "Come on, mom, let's finish these sides before dads finished."
She watched you uncertain for a few seconds before nodding. "You're right. You know how your father doesn't like to eat cold burgers."
.
As the night came to a close, you couldn't help but feel anxiety. Due to your families curiosity, you didn't get to spend much time with Joe. At first, you didn't mind, but the more he interacted with your family or they said something sweet about him, you couldn't help but feel your heartache.
At first, you didn't understand why, but the more you thought about it, the more you couldn't deny that he was perfect. He got along with your family, polite to you, and even seemed to care as he would constantly check in with you through the evening. It felt almost cruel.
You knew from the start that this was all fake. You knew after tonight that you may never see him again. Yet your heart yearned for more. For something you felt you couldn't have.
"Is everything okay dear?"
You nodded "yeah sorry mom, ....just tired. Work and all."
You could feel her eyes on you before turning back to crowd "Your just like your father in that aspect. Lean on Joe a bit more. let him lighten your load."
You sighed "I think it's time for us to go mom. I still have work in the morning.
she nods in understanding, opening her arms to you. You wrapped your arms around her in a warm hug. "I understand, and please, you guys, come see us soon."
"We will, mom."
.
The car ride home felt weird. You both sat quietly as the soft sounds of the music you were playing flowed through the speakers. You wanted to say something anything really, but you didn't know what.
Joseph seemed to be thinking the same thing since he was the first to speak up. "You have a nice family doll... So friendly and loving."
You smiled, your eyes still trained on the road ahead. "Thank you...We try."
he hummed in response as the music began to fill the gap again. "You know this went so well it makes me feel like I should meet your family next." As soon as the words left your mouth, you felt yourself cringe.
Joesph was silent before letting out an unamused huff. "I would rather you not." You opened your mouth to apologize for making the comment, but Joesph continued before you could."They are awful. I would rather you meet my coworkers."
You closed your mouth, unsure how to take that comment. As you pulled into your driveway, putting the car in park, you sat there for a minute. You thought Joesph would have gotten out of the car as soon as it was parked with an awkward goodbye, but he didn't.
Instead, he stayed in the car with you, his eyes trained on you. "I....had a really good time, Joe. Maybe I can find another excuse to hire you again."
"Hmmm, counter offer. What if instead we go on an actual date? No company involved. Just us." You turned to him surprised only to be met with a slightly nervous look on Joseph's face. "I had a good time too, and I know a good thing when I see it. If you're down for it, I want to keep this good thing going."
You watched him for a couple minutes waiting for the got you moment, but it never happened. He looked at you earnestly yet nervously, waiting for your response. "Okay, let's try it."

Could you write something based on ambers intial reaction to see roy being flustered for the first time? or hcs on it
Imagine she doesnt expect it because roy usually puts on this cool and brave face :)
Of course! ^_^
(sorry if it's so late I was pretty busy with school)
(also it's Christmas based because I just miss Christmas and because I found such a cute Royber picture on Pinterest it's a shame not to use it)
"ARE YOU BLUSHING?"
Tumblr media
It was just a regular Christmas Eve at Broomstown.
A holiday awaited all year by many.
How could anyone not love Christmas?
I mean, you don't have to go to work or go to school, you can drink hot chocolate, wear cute hats and gloves, build snowmen, have snowball fights, and, most importantly,
You would get lots of presents from Santa! (Or from your closest friends, if you're not a child anymore.)
And yet, even on this day, the newly funded "rescue team" of the town couldn't relax.
"You guys, we really need your help. The current vehicle that was in charge of setting up the Christmas tree is sick! And guess what that means..."
"Let me guess: it means that we gotta do it ourselves... Yeah, can't wait."
"Well, it is our job after all. We can't be mad..."
"Our job? You mean setting up Christmas trees?" Helly asked, sarcastically.
"I mean making sure we help the town in any way that we can, including setting up Christmas trees if needed, Helly."
"We better get to work fast, then! The tree is huge, and Christmas is already tomorrow!"
"Right! Instead of complaining, we should focus all our strength on working!
"You're both so motivated it makes me feel even more unsure about this..."
"Well, it wouldn't hurt you to learn a thing or two from them, don't you think?" Poli teased with a small chuckle.
"Hey! Stop teasing me! I said I was unsure, not that I wasn't going to do it at all!"
"Quiet, you two!" Jin exclaimed, interrupting their little banter.
Then, with an annoyed sigh, she turned her attention to Roy and Amber, and said:
"I do appreciate the enthusiasm, you guys, but setting up the tree isn't all! We also need help placing all the gifts of EVERY citizen down there, and so we really need a Santa Claus that would kindly do that. Well, Two Santas, given how many gifts there actually are..."
"Oh! Well, that's not really a problem is it? We'll just divide in two groups! Two of us set up the tree, and the other two go pick up all the presents!"
"Seems like a plan."
"Ahem, two groups of two? What about me?"
"Right, well, what we meant to say was one group of two and one of three, of course, hahaha...!" Roy awkwardly laughed, trying to keep Jin from getting angry exploding like always.
Jin crossed her arms, but felt satisfied after she was included in the activity.
Without pressing on the issue even further, she said:
"Anyways, let's just make these groups and get straight to work. Me, Poli and Helly will be in charge of the Christmas tree, since Helly can fly, Poli's the strongest one in our team and I'll watch over them to make sure they're doing everything right. Amber and Roy will go pick up the gifts from the Post Office and bring them to us. Is that okay?"
Everyone agreed,
"it's settled then. Oh, and, Roy, Amber, grab these hats!" Jin said, as she grabbed two Christmas hats from her bag and threw them at the two.
"Are you sure we need to wear these? How is this necessary?"
"It's the rules, you're Santa, you gotta wear the hat! Or do you want me to get the white beard for you as well?" Jin teased with a smirk, getting a giggle from Amber.
"Haha, no, no... I was just asking. The hats are pretty cute, anyways. Right, Roy?"
Roy looked at Amber and smiled warmly at her, nodding his head
"Yes, they're pretty warm and comfortable."
"Glad to hear that, you two. Now, off you go!"
Roy and Amber quickly drove away, leaving the headquarters and heading together towards the Post Office to retrieve all of the presents.
"Jin, you know I'm not the strongest of the group, it's definitely Roy... So why did you-"
"So Roy could go alone with Amber, duh!"
"Wait, so that's... That's like... Oh... Oh! You mean it's like a secret Christmas date?!"
"Took you long enough!"
"Wait... So are the hats also-"
"Yeah, I lied. They aren't necessary, I just wanted to see them with cute matching hats."
"But when I lie then suddenly it's not okay, huh..."
"Hey! In my defense they're so cute together yet SO oblivious it makes me mad! I just want them to realize their feelings and kiss already!"
"yeah, they should really confess to each other, but it also isn't good to rush them. It needs to happen naturally, we just gotta give those lovebirds some time."
"Let's see how this date goes then! Hopefully they won't just stutter and awkwardly talk over each other like last time!"
___________________________
"Oh dear..."
"I didn't expect there to be so many!" Roy exclaimed, as he and Amber looked at all the piles of presents scattered across the office.
"Well, let's start. The sooner we begin the sooner we finish."
Roy nodded, and together the started to grab the presents 5 at a time and putting them on a cart that they would have to bring to the others.
"Amber, how are you going to spend the Christmas holidays?"
The ambulance smiled slightly, without taking her eyes off her work.
"Well, I don't really know... I was thinking of just spending it quietly at home, with some friends and family. You know, the usual." She answered.
"Oh, I see. Well, my family couldn't make it to Broomstown this year, so I guess I'll have plenty of free time on my tyres..."
"oh, I'm sorry to hear that... Why couldn't they come?"
"Well, they were just too busy. I mean, both of my parents work, and they have my little brother to take care of, so they just couldn't make it here for Christmas."
Amber stayed silent for a bit.
"it must be tough being so far away from your family, I couldn't imagine that."
Roy laughed.
"Well, it isn't as awful as you may think. Yes, I miss them sometimes, but I'm doing just fine here! Haha..."
Amber frowned, but didn't say anything as she placed some more presents on the cart.
She could see right through him.
"You know, you don't have to pretend like you're always okay. At least, you don't have to do that around me, Roy."
Roy stopped in his tracks, caught completely red-handed.
"W-what? I'm not pretending, I really am just fine! Look-"
"Roy."
Her voice turned stern for a moment, but with a soft undertone. She wasn't having any of that, and Roy could tell. He knew her well, and as it turned out, she knew him as well, perhaps even more than he knew her.
"I-I..."
"It's okay if you don't want to talk right now, but I just..."
She stopped, as she turned her gaze from the work to her best friend, now facing him directly.
"I just worry about you, okay?"
As she said that, Amber approached Roy and gently held both of his hands, that were already cold from the chilly winter weather.
As he felt her fingers brush against his palm, he felt a shiver run down his spine, and he felt his cheeks turning a warm, flushed red color.
He blushed.
"Amber, you... you really do..?"
"Of course I do! Does it look like I don't? You're my best friend, I care about you a lot, you know?"
Roy stayed silent for a few minutes, still processing what he just heard.
She cares about him. She knows he isn't fine,
Because she cares.
She was so close to him he felt like he was about to explode.
"I-I'm... Y-you, I mean, thank you... You're the best girlfr-... Er.. I mean friend I ever had Haha.. ha... ha."
Amber looked at him with warmth, until her gentle expression turned into a smug smirk.
"Aww, are you flustered?"
Roy almost jumped, letting go of Amber and slapping them immediately on his cheeks to try and cover it up.
He really was loosing his cool, something that rarely ever happened to him before.
"I..."
Roy sighed, knowing that he couldn't change the subject Anyways.
"How could you tell right away? Am I really such an awful liar...?"
"Not at all, you are a pretty good liar, I must admit." Amber praised him and patted his shoulder, as she spoke "But so am I. Liars know liars, you could say."
Roy blinked twice in surprise.
Amber, the nicest, most kindest most beautiful soul in the whole world, was a good liar?
"You? A... liar?"
"Yeah, I knew you'd be surprised. I don't like lying, that's why I rarely do it, but that doesn't mean that I don't know how to, once in a while."
"Wow, I... I never knew that about you."
"Well, now you do! You're the first person I told this to, actually."
"really?"
"mhm, really."
Silence. Roy was still shaken up from earlier. He felt ashamed of being so vulnerable in front of amber, he felt weak and useless.
"I'm... I'm really sorry that you had to see me like... this." Roy shyly said, in embarrassment.
"But Isn't that a good thing?"
"Huh...?"
"You showed me the real you. Not some fearless and heroic firefighter, but the real you, so I did it in return. Now we're even. That makes us even closer than before, isn't that amazing?"
"I... I guess It is..." Roy's answers were short, and a bit repetitive, because he was so nervous he couldn't even come up with a proper answer.
Amber smiled warmly, and then she looked at Roy's head.
Without saying anything, she came closer, and without asking she adjusted the Christmas hat that was about to fall.
"And besides, I like this side of you. It's genuine, and cute." She whispered softly, as she looked directly into Roy's eyes.
Roy blushed even harder now, and Amber obviously noticed, since she let out another soft giggle.
But this time, Roy didn't cover it up.
He was flustered, but not embarrassed.
Because he could trust Amber just as much as he could trust his family, or Poli.
She was his best friend, or, maybe even something more...
Amber was so beautiful, he couldn't even think straight.
After adjusting the hat, she stepped away from Roy to give him some space, as she went back to work.
"...Oh, Amber! About my family..."
"hmm?"
"Could I... maybe, tell you about them another time?"
"Of course, whenever you want to. I'm always willing to listen."
She smiled again, and this time, the first thing Roy thought was that she was more beautiful than all of the stars behind her.
"Now let's finish with this tiresome job, Santa! The others must be freezing while they're waiting for us!"
"Haha, I'm coming, I'm coming!"

Fic Name: Superhero
Pairing: Jennifer Jareau x Reader
Words: 661
Warnings: literally zero fluff, just 100% pure angst and sadness.
One shot or Multiple Chapter: One Shot
Content: JJ has to go away for work unsure of how long for, JJ and Y/N try to make it work.
A/N: I think this might just be the saddest thing I have ever written!
————————————————————————
You stood there in the hallway of JJ's home office as you watched her take her 9th phone call of the week "Again" you rolled your eyes playfully.
"It's only my 9th one of the week" she laughed.
"My love it's Tuesday" you laughed as you walked up to her
"Come here" she pointed to her lap for me to sitting.
"I miss you, I never see you anymore" you finally admitted, playing with the string of her shorts.
You looked in her direction as she muted the call "Baby can you look at me please, how long have you felt like this" she grabbed your hands.
"A couple of weeks" you shrugged.
"Weeks? oh honey I'm sorry" she smiled softly as she noticed the tears in your eyes, hugging you closer and kissing your head.
"Can you just stay home forever and ever" you grinned, knowing it was something she could never resist"
"You know I can't resist that smile honey" your smile grew wider, but you know I have to work this case" she played with her hair.
Dating someone who worked in the BAU was tough, they were always away on cases and when they came back they always had paperwork, you couldn't be mad at your girlfriend though, you knew she was trying just as hard as you to get this relationship to work.
"When do you leave" you smiled.
"Tomorrow sweet girl" she wiped the tears which you didn't even realize were there"
"Okay" you smiled getting off her lap "Come back to bed when you're done okay"
"I won't be long" she nodded and smiled which you returned.
"Hey JJ?" you questioned again "Can I sleep in your FBI jumper?"
"Yes of course you can, but can I ask why you love that jumper?" she smiled.
"It's yours and it smells like you" You shrugged.
"Come here" she jumped out of her seat and hugged you and kissed your face all over.
"I love you" you smiled
"I love you too"
"Now go and do your job you Superhero" your eyes darted back and forth between your girlfriend and her paperwork she smiled at you as you watched her sit sat back down.
A couple of hours later she walked into the room that you share and saw you sleeping, you looked so peaceful and she didn't want to disturb you so she changed from her joggers into her pyjamas and slipped into bed with you, she hugged you from behind and played with your hair a little bit, JJ knew that your sleep pattern differentiated and she wasn't entirely which one she was getting, but as you turned around to face JJ hugging your face into her neck that's when she noticed your red blotchy face, she wasn't sure whether she wanted to wake you but she also didn't know when you would be sleeping in the same bed as her next so she decided to wake you up.
"Y/N, honey, do you think you could wake up for me" she slightly shook your shoulders.
"hmm" you answered half asleep.
"Honey it's me, it's Jennifer! Can you wake up for me please"
"Hi Jennifer" you smiled sleepily.
"Hi Y/N" she ran her slightly cold fingers up and down your arms until you were somewhat awake "Do you want to tell me why you were crying?" JJ asked in a whisper loud enough for the both of you to hear.
"No" you said getting embarrassed.
"Y/N you know what the bereau therapist said"
"He said no holding it in"
"And that includes you too honey"
"Please talk to me" she repeated after 2 minutes of silence.
"I just miss you" you admitted
"I'm right here sweetheart"
"JJ I know but sometimes it doesn't feel like you are" you said crying turning around hugging her waist impossibly closer.
"I promise when I'm back I'll take some time off to spend with you"
You smiled "You will?"
"Of course I will, I'll do anything for you"

How would archery training with venti go?
I'm unsure if he would love it as he can spend more time with yoh or hate it because you are above using weapons
-Rapid
Definitely a bit split, but he'd probably fall farther on the 'time with creator = good' than the other
Of course, if he's doing his job correctly, you should never have to use the skills he teaches you, but far be it from him to dictate how you wish to spend your time, especially if you're willing choosing to spend it with him
I think he'd fluctuate between not wanting to underestimate your natural archery ability, since you're the creator and all and it would simply be an insult to assume negatively about anything you do, but also not want to embarrass you by over assuming what base skills you have, so he just jumps between the two by over explaining some things and then under explaining others
Would complement you excessively either way, and it wouldn't just be for pity reasons he'd actually wholeheartedly mean it
Now he's insistent on you taking adequate breaks, wielding a bow with little experience can put a strain on muscles you might not be use to using, and if you pull something he's gonna get more than an earful from Zhongli (not to mention feel really bad), so Venti will physically pull you away to sit with him if he has to, every thirty minutes at least
I imagine he'd be very active with his hands during the practices too, using them to reposition your shoulders, subtly correct your stance, help with your aim, without even realizing how hands on he's being until you point it out
Then you get to see him blush as it dawns on him just how close he is, bodies practically pressed up against each other as he was trying to straighten your arm, he wouldn't immediately jump away though, wanting nothing more than to savor the movement and the feeling of you so close
Alright archery lessons are over, it's time for you to give him attention because now he just wants you in his arms, you can resume tomorrow if you really want to
And if you're just too sore then he's more than happy keeping you in bed all day, maybe with the exception of a hot bath, free with an incredibly doting archon who wants nothing more than to make you happy

Destined With You Final Thoughts
THE GOOD
Rowoon - Every new role I see him in (Extraordinary You and Tomorrow), I feel like he's grown leaps and bounds as an actor. Here he got to be literally be EVERYTHING. He was an arrogant emotionless jerk, a lovesick puppy who says the cutest most ridiculously things, a serious no-nonsense professional who's great at his job, a man struggling with his feelings and choices, a devoted protective lover, gutted and sobbing over life or death circumstances, respectful patient attentive boyfriend, an impulsive and passionate lover. I know we say ALL THE EMOTIONS sometimes but he literally when through them all.
Jo Bo Ah - Hongjo was a hard character for me because she was so passive and let everyone walk all over her again and again. Her saving grace is she always stood up to Shinyu and eventually learned to stand up to those around her. I could easily be annoyed with this character if it was played by a less competent actress.
Ha Joon - I enjoyed his turn as a suave lawyer who's actually a total dork in his personal life so much so that I started watching his new 50-episode family drama, Live Your Own Life, where he's finally the male lead with his own romance. Jaekyung came as Hongjo's sage guide when she needed him and happily exited when she was settled. Honestly, not a bad arc for a SML.
Shinyu's mom, Shinyu's lawyer friend, Hongjo's Landlady, Uram and his grandfather, and Shinyu's assistant - These characters were alot of fun and added to the depth of the story. I wish we had actually gotten more development from them which would have filled out this story a bit better.
Symbolism & Magic - This show is rife with well thought out symbolism. Love all the flower/plant stuff around Hongjo (Bloom) and Shinyu (Groot) equating to a blossoming and thriving relationship. The magic is actually pretty well explained and is there if you're interested in it.
THE BAD
Dropping the Magic Halfway Through - I am EXTREMELY disappointed in a show billed as a FANTASY ROMANCE that went to painstaking care to introduce the spells and curses to be like oops! don't care if the spells worked or not but we kinda care if the big curse is real cause we want to keep Shinyu in perpetual danger. Like I have ZERO respect that the FANTASTY aspect was dropped (and no the reincarnation plotline doesn't count). I feel hoodwinked and things make even less sense now. It's basically a JJ Abrams Mystery Box level of non-sensical bulls*t which is one of the main reasons I stopped watching most Western shows. It also leaves MASSIVE holes about how and why the Gardener and Nayeon started working together as well how did they learn about and come to believe the curses would even work. It was just she's a backstabbing two-faced bully and he's an insane murderer but zilch on their motivations. I really wanted a mini-montage of the black magic curses that were so well foreshadowed. I'm unsure if this was a writing call or directing call because in Korea the directors have final edit rights, not the writers. What got left on the cutting room floor?
Hongjo's coworkers - Why were they so terrible and unfunny the entire time? They were also irrelevant to the plot. The only good thing was her boss stopping the others from bullying Hongjo. It wasted time that could have been given to the side characters l liked (see above).
Noble Idiocracy & Repetitive Danger - I'm not sure which is worse that they repeatedly put themselves in danger time after time (even when bad things kept happening to them) or they broke up or stayed apart for the other person's 'benefit'. *face palm* If it was a great story, I can forgive some of this but...
The Pacing/Editing - If they had done a big reveal of the magic and other stuff at the end that really brought things to a climax, I would be like yeah it was slow at points but look at the payoff! Instead, I'm looking back at this going, if this is the story you wanted to tell, it could use a serious overhaul in HOW it was told. Even though there was stuff I liked about this drama, I wasn't that emotionally invested.
VERDICT
I would only recommend watching this to see Rowoon act his heart out and be in a ridiculously cute and sexy romance. That's it.
I'm sad because I really loved deep diving into this show. It could have been so much more like Goblin, Doom At Your Service, or Alchemy of Souls.

Maybe a story where the reader helps clean and patch up Gavin after a rough bar fight.
Gavin Ellis X F!reader
Fic type: fluff
Warnings: mention of physical altercation, blood, alcohol
Summary: Your boyfriend, Gavin, comes home drunk out of his mind and it's your job to patch him up.
A/N hello! sorry it took me so long to get around to this, but i hope you enjoy it! if anyone wants the m!reader version just let me know! also, sorry if the formatting is weird, i'm posting this from my laptop lmao
Tumblr media
Midnight. Gavin had gone out for drinks with Ray a few hours ago, and he still wasn’t home. Initially, y/n hadn’t been worried, she knew Gavin wouldn’t risk going anywhere too sleazy with Ray, not after the last time he had roped Ray into that world. Unbelievably, even being used as a drug mule by Gavin wasn’t enough to make Ray give up on him. They needed eachother in certain ways, Ray kept Gavin grounded and sensible, and Gavin made sure Ray actually had fun – y/n was more than grateful that her asshole boyfriend had at least one responsible and kind friend. However, as the minutes ticked on by, she felt herself growing anxious. What if Gav had left Ray to go see some of his old “work associates”? what if he’d gotten himself arrested? Oh god, what if he was dead in a ditch somewhere? What if- *CLUNK * - the front door opened.
“y/n? are you up?” she heard a familiar voice call softly from the hall. It was Ray, with a nearly comatose Gavin slung over his shoulder like a bindle.
“Christ! How much did the silly prick drink?” y/n gasped.
“Enough to get in a punch up with a guy twice his size” Ray answered, his voice shy, but light hearted, as though he was unsure if he was allowed to laugh.
“Just dump him on the sofa, Ray, I’ll take him up to bed after I clean that blood off his face”
Ray obliged.
“You’re a saint for putting up with him,” y/n chuckled, reaching into her purse, “here, get yourself a cab home, your mum must be worried sick by now”
“Agh… what the…” Gavin winced as he came back around
“Shhh, don’t be a baby” y/n teased, dabbing a cut on his lip with an alcohol pad.
“When did I get hom- OW! Can you cut that out?!”
“about ten minutes ago, Ray carried you here”
Gavin’s tired eyes filled with dread.
“did he tell you about…”
“the fistfight? Yeah, it might’ve come up” y/n said, raising her eyebrows and shooting him a pissed off look.
Gavin knew he fucked up, he’d promised y/n he’d stay on the straight and narrow, he knew how much it upset her when he got into fights. He was on thin ice with the law as it was, he should have been keeping his head down and his nose clean- easy as pie in theory, but when some cunt at the bar shouts “Oi Gav, yer new bird dresses like a slag” it gets particularly difficult.
“Babe, it’s not what you think, this dickhead was saying all sorts of horrible shit about you, I was like… defending your honour” Gavin stumbled over his words, desperately trying to explain himself.
Y/n’s expression softened.
“You’re an idiot, Gav. I don’t need you to beat people up for me. That guy probably didn’t even know who I was, more than likely he just wanted to get a rise out of you” She sighed as she applied some ointment – more gently this time – onto a scrape on his cheek.
“C’mon, don’t I get any credit at all for trying to stick up for you? Look at how busted up my lip is!” Gavin whined slightly, a cheeky grin forming on his face.
Y/n attempted to stay serious, but she couldn’t help herself from smiling.
“If I kiss it better will you pack it in?”
“Maybe”
She leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss onto Gavin’s still slightly bloody lips.
“better?”
“much better” Gavin grinned, his eyes droopy and a big dopey smile plastered on his face.
“c’mon you big softie, let’s get you some rest. You’ve got a lovely headache to look forward to tomorrow” Y/N teased, taking Gavin’s hand and kissing his cheek lovingly. God he was an idiot, but a cute idiot.

WIP WEDNESDAY GAME
Yes, I know it's Tuesday, but right now I have time and I need someone to come kick my ass and make me write, and I'm off tomorrow, so it'll be WIP Wednesday, eventually. So, let's try this. Feel free to send me an ask.
It’s WIP Wednesday, time for a little accountability, sharing your work, and getting a kick in the pants.
Here’s how it works:
In a reblog of this post (so people can find you in the notes) or new thread (w/ rules attached) if you want to play on your own, post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names.
Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We’re posting progress here. If you haven’t made any, go make some and come back to play!
After you’ve posted, people can send you an ask with one of your file names. You must then write 3 sentences in that file. If the filename is one you can’t share from (for example, an event or gift fic), write 3 sentences on it anyway, and then 3 more on another to share.
That’s it! You can invite others to join in, or just post. I’ll be searching the reblogs to find people to send asks to!
If you’re reading this, you’re invited!
If you see someone posting a WIP Wednesday Game snippet, send them an ask! Make them write.
file names:
Given & Denied
Beside You (JayDick Sci-Fi Bodyguard AU)
The Silence (SladeDickJay Mafia Dom/Sub AU)
Hiding in the Shadows (Part 3 in the Become Universe)
Under Pressure (JayKyle taking place after Gotham War events)
Snippet from Beside You
“I screwed it up last time,” Jason pointed out. “Why bring me back?”
“I expect you’ve learned from your mistakes,” Bruce said, and then softer, as if unsure how Jason would take the words. “And you didn’t screw it up. Your job was to keep Dick alive, and you did.”
“No. My job was to keep him safe.”
“You did the best you could, under the circumstances.”
“Which wasn’t good enough.” Jason leaned back in his chair, biting back a curse when pain crackled through him like lightning. “And I’m not half as good now as I was then, thanks to -“ he made a sharp gesture at the right side of his body.
Bruce clasped his hands together, posture rigid. “I don’t believe that,” he said, and then barreled on before Jason could argue. “But even so, you working at a disadvantage is still better than anyone else in the business. I need you on this, Jason. Dick needs you.”
Jason’s jaw clenched and he jerked his head away, staring out the wall of windows and across the city beyond. “You’re a fucking bastard, you know that?”
“I do,” Bruce said. “So, can I take that as agreement?”

You walked through the smooth sand watching the waves crash when you looked around seeing nobody you took off your dress getting into the water to your chest
After swimming for a while you wanted to get out but felt ripples when you heard a deep close voice say getting out already
You turned around punching him hard he knocked into the water when you quickly ran out of the water running home never looking back
Next Morning
You got a call from gang orca's agency when you said oh no

You were about to break down when Gang orca said Tatakai you ok you said no you're voice breaking when he said what's wrong you held your breath stopping tears saying I can't get my thighs in the pants
Gang orca sighed saying can I see not in a weird way I promise you opened the door when he looked at your head down and the tears running along your face he wiped them saying can I have the pants you took off the pants hanging them when he said for now you can wear your jeans
You walked out to gang orca's office hearing him yell I don't care I want the damn pants in a wider size
You flinched when he slammed the phone you sat down in the fancy black chair when you said sir
He looked up saying yes you looked down saying I'm sorry I started trouble already he got up saying no you're fine my assistant is an idiot my old one was better you nodded looking up

You did some of the work since it was easy till you heard two people talking I heard orca only hired her just to fuck and look at
You wanted to cry everyone said these things when you were near they knew what they were talking about and you were a doll
You had your final straw when someone said Orca has been protective of the new girl bet you they're fucking
You waited till you went to Orca's office in tears you closed the door seeing he was working you yelled at him saying you don't actually want me here do you
He stood up saying you better lower that tone little girl you sniffed saying do you know what everybody is saying about me and you they don't even care I'm sitting right there he looked at his windows when you looked seeing he could see everybody you gasped when he said who said what I'll fire them you wiped your tears saying no I'm sorry but I don't have a shield around me I'm sensitive so I quit

You sat at home laying in bed thinking of orca he was a big man protecting and maybe sweet even but those people were toxic
You were about to get ready for bed when there was a knock you looked seeing Orca you opened the door when he looked down at your baggy shirt and shorts when you said come in
You and orca were on the sofa when he said I really did miss you today you hummed saying what about everyone else was there a party he sighed nodding when you said I didn't belong there

He let go saying I'm sorry but I just want you so bad please you're driving me crazy you got off saying maybe you should go
Orca got up I should but can you just tell me you don't feel anything for me please you sighed saying I can't he looked up seeing you looking at the ground he held your hands saying then let me at least show you how much I love you
Orca picked you up laying you on the couch he took off your shorts till you stopped him saying wait no I didn't shave he kissed your thigh whispering I don't care
He looped his fingers around your shorts when you said I smell down there I try fixing it but it doesn't work he inhaled saying I'm a whale I love fish and anything ocean related he pulled off your shorts not listening to you when he dove in eating you out while you squirmed and yelled out
Orca reached up grabbing your hand when you said I can't take anymore please stop Orca please you squirmed one last time till Orca got up laying next to you when you felt his silky hand go up your body you whined saying Orca he curved around your boobs when he pinched your nipples you moaned arching your back
He let go saying I'll be right back you grabbed him saying where are you going I'm sorry I'll be better he rubbed your sensitive clit saying I'm done with you yet darling
Orca washed his mouth coming back seeing you crying he laid next to you saying hey hey it's ok I'm back you looked at him when he noticed your arm moving around he moved the blanket off your knees that were up seeing you thrusting your fingers in your hole he saw you crying from being overwhelmed but you couldn't get your finishing spot
He put in two finger when you cried out saying to big please Orca stop Orca put one finger when you said wait you passed it please go back
Orca dragged his finger back when you said right there please you moved around Orca held you down saying you're gonna make me lose the spot you looked at him saying I'm sorry just please make me cum one more time
Orca rubbed into your spot when you arched your back saying please stop I can't take it it's to much please Orca held you don't and kept going when you started grabbing the couch when you said I think I'm gonna cum

i'm going to fucking hate this after i wake up but it's DONE
pt 1 of that "babysitting with your totally platonic roommate, Simon" prompt i posted a month ago.
ghost/f!reader, sfw, no warnings . . . yet
“Hey,”
Your voice is soft, unsure, as you hug the corner of the kitchen doorway, hardly visible. You need to talk to your roommate, Simon. You need to talk to him, but you don’t want to. Actually, you’re dreading it. Have been for the past three hours while you impatiently waited in your room listening for him to finally slink out into the kitchen for food. Now that your here, standing with bare feet on the cold linoleum floor as you shiver in your sleep shorts and sweatshirt, you just want to get this over with.
Unfortunately, he’s sucked into his phone, leaning his tall, wide frame against the counter while he waits for something to heat in the microwave. It’s quiet in the dark kitchen. No sound or light besides the lazy hum and warm yellow glow of the microwave. Despite that, you don’t think he’s heard you. He didn’t even move when you popped your head in. You quirk a frown. Usually he’s so alert. You step reluctantly away from the door jam and into his view. His head darts up immediately, just like it usually does, to meet your eyes before you can even speak.
“Sorry to bother you,” you say meekly, breaking eye contact, shifting your own phone back and forth awkwardly in your hands.
He shrugs back at you. His phone disappears into the pocket of his hoodie.
“No bother. I’ll be out in a minute-”
The microwave beeping behind him cuts his sentence short. He turns his massive back to you, ending your conversation before it can even begin. He set his steaming cup on the counter with a dull thunk and began to root around in the cabinet for a teabag. He’s left the door to the microwave open, using it for light. It reminds you of the neighborhood raccoons that only dig through the trashcans left under the streetlights.
You step fully into the kitchen, still worrying your phone in your hands.
“I need to talk to you,” you say, nerves wavering your voice.
Simon doesn’t give any indication that he heard you. He’s still sifting through the cabinet, hunting for some tea that you probably shoved to the back while he was last away. It had felt like he was gone for ages this time, and it is your apartment too. Why not organize things into a more convenient place for both of you?
“Yeah,” he answers blandly.
It's distant and disconnected, like he’s not even listening. You almost wish he had continued ignoring you. He steps back, letting the cabinet door fall loudly back into place as he struggles to grab the last bag out of the box; his large fingers working against him.
“‘bout what.”
He tosses the empty cardboard box into the trash in front of you. You let out a nervous breath as you eye it: English Breakfast. Caffeinated tea so late at night? You wonder how long he plans to stay up. The last time you remember him drinking tea this late you fell asleep to him typing long into the night on that secret little laptop of his. If you really think about it, that night was the last time he came back. You push the thought away. It’s only a frivolous distraction anyway. You have more important things to get to while you have him in front of you. You mentally add his tea to your grocery list for tomorrow.
How do you even begin with this conversation? You worry your lip as you stand before him, the plan you’d come up with in the safety of your room scattered like dust in the wind. The truth was, you hated interacting with him like this. You’d lived with him for the better part of a year, and he was a solid roommate. Sure, he was strange. He’s a mysterious, intimidating, wall of a man, who’s never shown you his face and drops in and out of existence with hand-waved excuses of “his job”. He’s a red flag factory, and you’re enough of an adult to admit that. But he had taken you in when you were in a desperate desperate spot, so as long as he had some sort of job and paid his half of the rent, could you really complain? You’d promised him you wouldn’t bother him by prying into his life or work, and he seemed to be silently content doing the same for you.
What really bothered you was how he could go from almost friendly toward you, to awkward and cold and you had no clue what caused it. Of course, you tended to blame yourself. Perhaps you were too open and friendly that one evening when you’d shared the couch watching that football match, because afterwards he tended to evacuate the living room as soon as you came in the room. Maybe he thought you were too forward when you’d last gone grocery shopping together. You had been rather chatty the whole walk there, and you’d stuck to his side inadvertently the entire time shopping as well. You’d talked about buying things for a couple of large meals for the both of you, you even offered to split the bill. Yes, you thought, that was definitely overstepping an unwritten roommate boundary.
When you look back up at Simon, he’s waiting for you. He’s relaxed back against the counter: one hand stuffed into the pocket of his hoodie, the other holding his steeping tea. Even by the dim light of the microwave, you can tell his dark eyes are tired.
You breathe out a silent sigh. His big dark eyes. His stupidly large hands. You can almost imagine what his nose looks like as the soft cotton knit of his balaclava clings to his face, or how his chest is shaped under his bulky shirts and hoodies. It sends a desperate zing straight through you that reminds you how desperate and lonely you really are. You can imagine all you want, but his eyes and hands are all the flesh he’ll ever let you see.
“I can say no if you want,” you blurt out, blush pinching at your cheeks.
His eyes slide across yours, darting into the opposite corner of the kitchen, then to the tea in his hands. Something like disappointment settles sickly in your stomach. It brings a bitter, bile taste to your mouth that dashes away your sugar-sweet daydreams in an instant. You know what he feels when he looks at you: that you’re so pathetic. His pathetic, mousy, clingy, roommate.
“No to what?” he asks, shifting his hips so he’s facing you.
“My cousin,” you start, trying to relax, to force a smile, anything to break the awkward vibe coalescing in the void between you. “She, ah, she and her husband have this trip-thing, a work trip. It’s really far away, and she thinks they can handle their boys, she has two boys, twins actually, on the trip and everything, but she just had a baby and she’s way too young and with the boys it would just be too much and-”
“Take a breath,” he said with his usual sarcastic way, fidgeting his mug in his hands.
You do. Standing there trembling, struggling to breathe normally, as he blows a lazy plume of steam off the top of his mug. He’s doing everything short of taking a sip. You wonder if this would be the moment he would pull up his mask and finally reveal a bit of his face to you.
“Better?” he asks, tipping his head forward, willing your eyes to meet again.
You nod.
“Yeah. Sorry for rambling,” you say scrubbing your free hand through your hair. You’re ready to turn on your heel and run back to your room, disaster of a conversation completed.
“How old?” he asks, staring at you over the rim of his cup.
You stop your backpedaling. Oh. You hadn’t expected this.
“Ah, about nine months,” you answer quickly. You shimmy a half-step back into the kitchen.
Your cousin is one of your closest friends, so you’d seen just about every step of her baby’s development from even before she announced she was pregnant. Most of it had been through text and social media, unfortunately. While you’d have loved to be there in person, the past year had been busy for you and hectic for her. If only your old apartment building hadn’t been suddenly condemned, spurring an unplanned move, you would have been able to have your friend over to your own space rather than meet up elsewhere.
“So like . . . walking age?” He awkwardly hazards a guess with a rare hand gesture.
“Close,” you answer with a soft smile. “She’s a really good crawler and is working on standing.”
You had about a thousand videos saved from her mother that you wish you felt confident enough to close the distance to show him.
“What about food?” He questioned.
“She’s still on bottles and baby food,” you answer confidently. You choose not to share the hilarious story about how your cousin had found her baby wedged under the couch, trying to grab old pieces of cereal that one of the boys had spilled. If anything, she would have a robust immune system.
He slowly nods, looking back into his cooling tea leaving you hanging in the silence.
“How long’s the trip?” he said not looking up.
You swallow roughly. Here it is. The last hurdle.
“A week,” you squeak, phone clutched in both hands to your chest. Your heart is thumping in your chest while you wait for his reply.
His eyes dart back and forth around the dark, dull kitchen. It’s like he’s trying to look anywhere and everywhere but at you. His fingers drum nervously once on his mug, then he huffs a sigh. You swear you stop breathing when he starts to speak.
“I’d like to meet her. Mum and the baby. Gotta see if they mind this-“ he said with a backwards tip of his head, indicating his mask, “before I commit.”
You nod eagerly at his words, practically vibrating with euphoria. You try and fail to keep yourself from smiling too hard
“I’ll . . . I’ll set something up!” you rush out as you unlock your phone. Your heart is pounding as you type a message to your cousin. “This week work for you?” you ask looking over your phone.
He nods again, not meeting your eyes.
“Got work to do so ah-” he says pushing himself away from the counter.
In a stride, he’s standing right in front of you, waiting for you to move. Looking up at him at his full height this close makes you dizzy.
“Oh yeah! Sorry!” you say backing out of the doorway, message almost complete.
You’re only a few steps away when you turn back to him. You’re fortunate to catch him before he could get to his room. He’s opening his door when you call to him.
“Simon?” you ask cautiously.
He stops, hand gripping the doorknob. A silent beat drops between you before he turns his dark, hard stare on you. You swallow nervously. You usually don’t use his name if you don’t have to.
“What,” he asks sternly.
“Ah, thanks?” you say pressing yourself to your own door, minimizing yourself, wishing your could evaporate through it, turn into mist, anything really.
He nods and walks through his door, shutting it behind him. Conversation over. Moments like that make you glad you don’t know what he does for a living.
You blow out another shaky breath before you open your own door. You sit down on your bed as you read over the quick message you’d typed before sending it. You flop back against your mattress and throw your phone to the side, all the stress you’d been carrying working it's way out now that you were alone in your own space. You close your eyes and zone out, drifting away to the soft sound of typing from the other side of the wall.

I have officially walked across the stage.
I'm scared for the future
- 🦊 anon
First of all, congratulations Foxy!! 🎉🥳🥳
Finishing school and getting that diploma is a HUGE accomplishment, and you did it while scared and unsure of things. You're braver and stronger than you think to have stuck with it even though the prospect of what came after scared you so much.
I am so, so very proud of you.
Second, the future can be scary. The world in general seems to have no shortage of bad going on, and it sometimes feels like there's no point in even trying when there's so much greed and selfishness and hate. And, more specifically for your situation, when your parents seem to think that not having some iron clad plan for the rest of your life is something to be ashamed of.
It's not.
Take a moment to breathe. Focus on the now. You've gotten your diploma. Celebrate that accomplishment, as not everyone has gotten where you are. Seriously, be proud of yourself for where you are! You deserve some happiness for that!
As for what comes after? Take it one day at a time. Sit down with your boyfriend (if you haven't already) and really talk about what your hopes are, what your dreams are, and what worries and scares you. Be honest. With him and with yourself. Sometimes just giving voice to our fears helps us see them in a way that makes them not so scary. Or they can help those who love us understand us better.
Once you've verbalized what you're feeling, then maybe you can sit down with your parents and have a real, honest-to-goodness adult conversation about your future. Maybe they'll listen, maybe they won't. But your life is yours, and you need to do what makes you most comfortable and happy.
As I said in a previous response, sometimes people get stuck in their own history when it comes to expectations for others. Maybe your parents had a steady job with a good income and got married and a house and a kid at suchandsuch age, but the world is vastly different now than it was just 20 years ago. The economy is so, so different. Job hunting is much harder. Everything is so much harder now. And it's very possible they just won't see or admit that.
I don't have all the answers for you. I don't have an easy response to what you should do if your parents continue holding this need for a 'plan' over your head. It sucks, I know. I'm sorry.
Be gentle with yourself. Break things down into more manageable timeframes--what do you want to do in an hour? Tomorrow? Next week? Every journey starts with a single step, as the proverb goes. Focus on the next few steps, instead of staring at the horizon, worrying about how you'll get there in XX amount of time.
You'll get there. And even if you don't get to a specific point, maybe you'll find a detour along the way you'll enjoy more.
There is more to life than checking off a list of Things To Accomplish To Be A Success.
I don't have any specific over-arching goal I want to accomplish in my life. There's no big Thing that will make my life have meaning or purpose. I don't consider myself terribly special, or smart, or talented by any means. I'm just me, and I'll never be anything more than that.
I simply want to leave the world a little better than I found it. Maybe make someone's day a little brighter, if I can. Either by offering help and support, being the ear they need when they're having a hard day, or making people smile with a joke or silly stories about a cartoon echidna.
And maybe that means when I die my obituary won't be full of impressive achievements and acknowledgements and titles and successes. Maybe the only people who'll really miss me are my family.
But maybe I'm okay with that.
Because living your life following the expectations of others isn't living. Even if those others are your parents, or significant other, or friends, or whomever. If you're making decisions based on what other people think or expect you to, you're making the wrong ones.
Live for YOU, Foxy. Find your path. I believe in you, and I know you can do it.💗🧡💛💚💙💜

Isle Connections Ch5 Similar Situations
(Warnings: Toxic family and relationships mentioned in this chapter. Reader also gets pushed down and has a twisted ankle.
This will also expand over a course of some time. I'm going off the info provided by Avery's league cards added below:
Avery comes from a long-standing family of psychics. Each of has been from the same bloodline as Avery, and thus, Avery has been destined to bear the burden of Gym Leader since even before he was born. Ever since he was a child, Avery could freely move things with his mind but lacked other skills, such as teleportation or telepathy . This has caused the rest of his family to label him as a disappointment. Avery has a great deal of respect for Slowpoke, as they go about their business at their own pace, no matter what others say.
Avery has always been very proud and would levitate any opponent who dared defeat him. This behavior caused his status as a Gym Trainer to be revoked. During this time of despair and desperation, his Slowpoke found a flyer for the Master Dojo, leading to Avery's current circumstances. Avery caused friction with many of the other students initially, but the kindness of Honey and Mustard slowly helped him to mellow out and become more friendly. Recently he has been training hard with his now-evolved Slowbro to prove himself better than a certain new student at the dojo.)
Tumblr media
You had thought long and hard about what Ms. Honey had said to you. Eventually Gloria and Hop arrived back while you were thinking and you were concerned when you saw how dirtied up and tired they were.
"What happened to you guys?! You look like you rolled down a dirt hill!"
"Well we found a giant vespiquin nest and accidentally fell inside it's den bit don't worry! We're alright!," Hop held up his hands seeing your shocked face and held up a plastic see through bag full of pink honeycomb and globs of sticky honey. "And we found the max honey! I'm gonna split it with Glory and take some back to Sonia with the max mushrooms too! I'm sure she'd love to study it!"
"C'mon! Let's go show Master Mustard!"
In the end they ended up dragging them with you inside and up to Mustard who look pleasantly surprised that they had succeeded in their little quest.
"Welcome back my wondering wooloo," he greeted you all with a smile. "Oh. And what is that sweet scent I detect wafting through the air around you?"
"Ha! That'd be the max honey! We got our hands on a nice haul of it!," Hop said proudly showing off the bag.
Mustard smiled wider. "Really? Already?"
"You out me and Gloria on the case. There's nothing we can't do when together!" Gloria nodded proudly making Mustard chuckle.
"Haha! You did a mighty fine job finding it with only a hint from me. Nicely done both of you!"
"You didn't forget what that certain something was for a second did you?"
"Who? Little old me?" He chuckled making both Hop and Gloria look at him deadpanned before he waved them both off. "But enough of me. You two did well so Gloria can have a break from training for the rest of the day. Get some dinner and clean yourselves up. There'll be plenty of more training tomorrow."
He left then going through the doors back into his own home. You supposed you could've just asked him where Avery was then but...you were still unsure about what to do about this at all. You'd have to think more about this more before you decided what to do next-
"I'm gonna take that leap in my training."
You were snapped out of your thoughts by Gloria's voice as Hop looked at her. "What, Mate?"
She inhaled before steeling her gaze. "He said when ah was ready with Kubfu ta see him about the next step in mah trainin'! She held a fist. "I've been training for months now n' I know we're ready! First thing tomorrow, M' gonna take that leap!"
Hop immediately smiled at her. "Alright, Glory! With all the work you've done you'll do amazing!"
"You'll be great," you agreed, "....I'll be taking my own leap tomorrow too."
Both looked at you. "Whatcha mean Y/n?"
"Don't worry about it. It's just something I need to take care of."
That night you all cleaned up and slept. Or as best you could. You felt very anxious and nervous about everything that'll happen tomorrow but you thought long and hard and decided to take Honey's advice. You were going to talk to Avery. It'd be best for everyone involved if you apologized to him and smoothed everything out. So tomorrow you'd ask Mustard where you could find him. Early the next morning you woke up bright and early and caught up to Gloria and Hop on their way towards Mustard's  office but not before you insisted on them getting something to eat so they wouldn't be hungry later today. Mustard was already ready for her watching everyone else training.
"Ah. Good morning, Gloria!," he greeted with his usual bright smile. "Are you ready for today's training? I think I have a student that'll go extra hard on you today!"
Gloria shook her head with a determined face. "Not today." He hummed curious. "Ye said ta come to you when I thought kubfu n' I was ready ta take on the next step o' my trainin'! We'll I'm ready now and I'm here to make that leap!"
He hummed again carefully looking over her then at kubfu. "Well it seems you both have grown more confident! But are you sure you're ready for this? There's no shame if you'd like to train up a little more first."
Gloria shook her no. "Nay! I know we're ready! Please lemme try."
Again he smiled and carefully looked them over for a moment... before smiling wider. "Very well. I daresay I think you're both ready!" Gloria lit up happily as he nodded his head towards the door. "Follow me you two."
"Wait." He paused to look at you. You hesitated before stuttering out. "I-I wanted to ask you something important-"
"I'm afraid that will have to wait after I get Gloria on her way but follow me and I'll get right to you. Come along." He smiled knowingly. "I think I can help you along the way as well."
He turned away and continued walking out of the dojo. You three looked at one another.. before Gloria started following him and you two started walking after her. You three all followed Mustard outside of the dojo and followed him towards the Forest of Focus. You all followed him through the woods slowly step after step until you all came out into a clearing. A similar clearing to the one you found Avery in. Again the anxiety bubbled up as you silently just followed him until he stepped halfway in the middle of the clearing and turned back to Gloria smiling looking around a little bit before nodding and speaking.
"Phew. Guess this is as a good spot as any," he spoke looking at Gloria. "Now then. If you want to get stronger there are special training grounds just for kubfu. Prepare yourselves for the Towers of Two Fists! The blue tower is the Tower of Water!" He pointed towards the left. "Located that way. And the red tower is the Tower of Darkness." He then pointed to the right. "Located that way. Chose wisely since you'll only be able to climb one of the towers. Kubfus fighting style will change depending on the tower you chose and the types it'll get will change as well. This will be the next step in your training."
Gloria blinked wide eyed before looking to the left and then slowly looked to the right. "I can only choose one huh? What's so special 'bout the towers?"
"Each tower's five stories tall and each floor has a tough opponent waiting for you. I chose eight of my toughest senior students for this so it'll challenge you for sure. Im really looking forward to seeing you two make it to the top of one of those towers. It's going to be exciting. So...which one will it be?"
Gloria fell silent looking blank for a moment again looking both ways carefully for a long time silently. Calculating and thinking hard about this. After a long moment she finally spoke. "Well...Mr brother's already trainin' ta be the next water type gym leader." She looked towards the right before pointing with a firm look. "So ah pick the Tower of Darkness!"
Mustard nodded. "Wonderful choice. I look forward to seeing you there!"
"I'm coming too," Hop piped up. "I can't wait to see her in action." He paused as Mustard shook his head.
"No. This is something Gloria must do herself. She can't have any help from anyone else or else she fails."
"Oh...Can I at least go with her then?"
Mustard hummed... before nodding. "You may be allowed to accompany her to the tower but you're not allowed inside. Alright?"
Hop nodded sighing. "Yeah. I guess that's fair." He still smiled before turning to Gloria. "I bet I can still beat her to the tower though."
"Oh you're on!"
Hop laughed before shooting off running away from you all towards the right with Gloria smiling and quickly running after him with Kubfu close behind at her legs. You watched them laughing and run off through the clearing and into the woods until you couldn't hear or see them anymore. You were glad they were happy at least. Gloria would do great. You believed I'm her.
"Now." You jumped whirling back to the old smiling back. "You wanted to ask me something?"
You blinked before shaking your head. "Uh..Y-Yeah." you cleared your throat and looked away to avoid eye contact which made him raise an eyebrow. "I-..Um-...I-I was wondering if you could tell m-me where Avery is. I-....I need to talk to him about something important."
There was silence as he just looked at you silently knowingly. Before smiling wider. "Nope! I have no idea where he is!"
"What?!"
"Little old me forgot sadly." Your face dropped- "But I do know he likes to take his rapidash on walks through the berry grove allegedly. You might want to try your luck there. Whoops! I just remembered that I have somewhere to be!" He just casually stepped aside and started walking off in a random direction. "Good luck with your own mission. Im looking forward to seeing your own progress."
You shook your head and turned..but paused when you realized he was already gone. There wasn't a trace of him anywhere. For a little old man he sure moved fast. Your head silently looked back to the left. ...The berry grove huh? You knew where that was. Slowly you started walking that way Silver walking behind you as you made your way back through the Forest of Focus. The greenery making the forest beautiful but you didn't focus on that. Only pushing through to where your destination was...And you knew you were in the right place as the trees started getting smaller and smaller and their branches were full of berries. You stopped in the middle of the grove looking around..but there wasn't any sign of Avery much to your disappointment. Where could that guy be?! Mr. Mustard said he'd be here. Silver didn't pay any attention too busy distracted by the plump berries hanging on the trees before looking over and seeing the smallest tree. His appetite enticed him to walk over towards it and the plump ripe pecha berries handing from its lowest branches. He kicked his lips looking back at the branches and stared at them from the base of the tree contemplating on how to get them. That's when a hand shot out of the bush next to him and snatched him up!! Silver's loud startled cry made you jump and whirl around wide eyed before you froze.
"SILVER!!"
"I FINALLY GOT ONE!!," A man in a dojo uniform shouted proudly holding up Silver by the jacket he wore. "A CAUGHT A SHINY!!"
Silver kicked out and struggled in the man's drip chirping in both anger and panic looking at you for help. "SILVER!" The man jolted as you yelled making him look at you wide eyed. "THAT'S MY DRIZZLIE!! PUT HIM DOWN!"
The man blinked. "Your drizzlie?" His eyes narrowed. "How do I know you're telling the truth and not just trying to take my shiny from me?"
"Why the heck would a wild shiny wear a jacket?!" The man blinked...and just dumbly looked back to the small jacket Silver always wore. "Look! Silver is mine so just put him down!"
He didn't. "Tell you what. How about we trade for it?"
"Silver is a HE not an it! And no way!! I'm not going to just trade him off to a random stranger!"You stomped up to him. "Now give him back!"
"No way!" He held Silver higher as the drizzlie continued kicking and struggling. He scowled at you. "I've been looking for a shiny since I got here and I'm not giving up the first one I see! Just get another one!"
"NO!! GIVE HIM BACK!!" You lunged at him but he was bigger and taller than you, able to push you back easily with another arm as Silver cried out from his hand. "GIVE ME BACK MY POKEMON!!"
"GET OFF ME!" A hand shoved you hard pushing you back and making you trip to land on your side in the grass.
As soon as you hit the dirt a blue aura surrounded the man. He gave a noise of confusion before he yelped out as he was suddenly levitated into the air. He floated high above you before given a hard shake. Silver dropped from his hand with a loud noise and landed on the ground next to you. Immediately you grabbed him and bear hugged the Pokemon to your chest staring up confused at the floating man. What the heck was-
"How rude." You both looked over. "Now that's no way for a man to treat a lady. Hadn't your parents taught you any manners?"
Your eyes widened. "AVERY!"
Said blonde man stood there one glowing hand held up levitating the man a frown on his face. Behind him was a rapidash looking annoyed too. "Now do us both a favor and leave my sight."
With a snap the man was dropped harshly with a thud. Panicked, the other man immediately stood up and ran from the scowling psychic. You sat up onto your knees slowly watching as he left .. before sighing and pulling Silver closer to you.
"Are you alright?"
You looked up at Avery staring at you with an unreadable expression. Blinking you nodded. "Uh. Yeah. I'm ok."
He nodded. "That's all that matters. Good day to you." He turned to walk away.
"HEY!! WAIT!!" You shot up to your feet quickly and lunged at him to latch onto his elbow which startled him into jumping and blinking at your face. "Don't go! I've been looking for you everywhere!"
Avery stared stunned at you jaw dropped and sputtering looking between you and where you held his arm. "I-...Y-You what?!"
"I came to apologize!," you blurted out before he could do anything else, and he was again shocked into silence. "I was a huge jerk and I shouldn't have shoved you or yelled at you or called you names! That was absolutely wrong of me and I'm really sorry for everything!" There was still stunned silence as Avery continued to stare at you before you sighed and released his arm letting your arm drop back to hold Silver better. "I don't expect you to accept my apology because honestly you don't have to but I just wanted to say sorry."
Avery still stared at you for a long, long... LONG silent moment as you figured nervously under his gaze. Eventually he slowly sighed before nodding. "Very well then. Miss Y/n, I accept your apology." Your face perked up as Avery pressed a hand to his own chest. "But let me give my own apologies to you for that unruly and brutish sight you had caught me in. I am . utterly ashamed of my past behaviors and..You were absolutely right." His eyes glanced to the side. "That was completely wrong of me. When the Master found out what I did..Well let's just saw my punishment was extended for two more months and I had to apologize to everyone."
Your eyes widened. You.. Weren't expecting Avery to be so calm or take this so well. "It's..Ok. But still..I went too far when I brought your gym leader status into it. I uh..Kinda heard what happened."
He huffed giving a small sad smile. "Yes. Well it's not exactly a secret about what I've done. I have no one to blame but myself for my behavior but I am striving to do better! Don't think I've given up on gaining my gym leader status back in order yet!" He finally smiled brightly making you feel relieved. "But.. Um. Exact h-how much did you hear about me?"
"Oh. Just that you kinda got in trouble with the league and you came here to train." You hesitated for a moment. "Um...Also that your family..is a bunch of jerks too."
He looked surprised for a split second before again smiling sadly. "Jerks..Well that's certainly one way to describe them I would use much harder names that I wouldn't repeat in front of a lady."
You blinked surprised. "That bad huh?"
"Oh, you don't know the half of it my dear lady." He crossed his arms with a sigh, looking off somewhere. "My family...is very hard for me to get along with. We don't exactly see eye to eye on a lot of subjects. Most of them are..very cruel in fact."
Your face softened as you looked back to him. "Yeah. I know how that feels. My parents are really terrible people too." Surprised he glanced back at your saddened look. "My mom is really... REALLY hard on me."
His brows rose higher after that still in a bit of shock and curiosity now. "Hard on you? ...What had she done?"
"Ooh Hoho! Where do I even start?" You strained an unhappy smile and gestured at nothing. "She was always difficult to deal with but it wasn't always on such a bad level. She...never did a whole lot but things weren't bad until my parents divorced when I was around eleven or twelve. That's when things were hard." You didn't see the way Avery's eyes widened behind those glasses but didn't comment as you angrily ranted. "It's hard to explain. But it's like as soon as he left a switch flipped. Everything was wrong. Anything fun was wrong. Anything liked was wrong." ..You shrugged. "But then again thing's weren't easy once Dad left. Everything was more expensive now. M-Mom had to work a w-whole lot to support us. But she took it way too far! Everything was 'too expensive' now." You made air qoutes with your hands. "She had me start working right away to help pay bills."
"When you were just eleven or twelve!?"
You nodded. "Looots of babysitting and walking dogs- Uh..pokemon and mowing lawns and tutoring and shoveling driveways to help pay the bills. And that was in between the chores and constant studying she'd had me do! And Dad was no help considering he just ghosted us after that! UGH!!" Your hands were thrown up in the air as you wished you could punch a pillow. Making Silver squeal out in your grip. "..Sorry, Sil. It was like I was in a box! I'm so glad I finally left. We uh...Don't talk to each other anymore. She was just a narcissist now that I think about it. It was always 'Her', 'her', 'her' and never once about ME except when it was something I could do for HER! Or something I did 'wrong' or how I should date her nice wealthy friend's son- UGH!!" Your face fell into your hands. "It was just a nightmare."
Avery only stared at you as you ended your rant hugging Silver close to you. He contemplated something in his mind, hesitated, before he spoke up. "My..parents view me as a disappointment." You paused.. before snapping at him wide eyed but he was only staring off at nothing.
"What?! Why would they do that? Sure you might've gotten a bit..off the path as a gym leader but you're doing so much better now. You even got stronger-"
"No. No. It's not about the league-..I mean it IS about the league too but it's not fully that." He attempted to explain to you before he just sighed and let his arms drop. "My..family lineage is made up of many psychics like myself. Only.. they're not like myself. Not at all. All of my family can use teleportation or telepathy or more common a combination of both. I however..can N-Not use either of those gifts."
"You... can't?"
He shook his head. A hand reached up to twirl around one of the pokeballs making it bob around his fingers. "The only thing I'm able to do is levitate objects. Which is why I was labeled a...d-disappointment."
"What? How could they say that?" He looked surprised when you reached out and grabbed his shoulder. "That's still a really special gift. I don't know anyone else that can levitate things! Your powers are still rare and really cool! Look at how they helped me! You're not a disappointment. Avery, you're a hero."
He blinked wide eyed at you for a moment before smiling with a huff. "I did save the day didn't I? Yes! Avery old boy, you still got it!" He paused feeling the sudden force of more weight being pushed onto his and looked at your hand, then at your wobbling form, and then down to your legs. Your left leg lifted up off the ground. He pointed at it. "I dare say, what's wrong with your leg?"
"Oh. I twisted my ankle when that guy pushed me."
He looked concerned. "Does it hurt?"
"A bit. It's gonna be hard to get back."
"By yourself? And leave a damsel in distress alone?" Avery shook his head before grabbing your arm. "Oh no. I can not in good conscience leave you to hop back to the dojo and risk hurting yourself further. I'll simply lead you back on my elegant rapidash."
"Your rapidash?" You blinked looking behind him and back to the unicorn pokemon who still stared at you. Oh. You almost forgot about him. "Oh. ... He's very beautiful." The rapidash tossed his head back, head up high, proud of your compliment. "Are you sure he'd be alright with it? I wouldn't want to make him uncomfortable."
"Such a caring mindset, but I'm sure Rapidash wouldn't mind as long as you don't try pulling his mane. He hates that."
"Don't worry. I won't."
You were expecting that Avery would help you move to get on the rapidash, but you weren't expecting him to suddenly scoop you up bridal style making you squeak and him chuckle as a pink spread across your face. He walked you over to the rapidash that knelt down to allow his trainer to gently set you on his back and stood back up.
"Don't worry, My Lady. We'll walk slowly so you won't fall off. Just hang on. And don't worry. If you fall, I'll catch you again in my arms." You went a deeper pink and he chuckled again.
Hanging onto the rapidash, Avery slowly lead him back to the dojo where everyone stopped and stared as Avery lead the horse pokemon right into the dojo and straight to a worried Ms. Honey. When you both explained the situation she looked both worried and angry at the person who did this. Avery helped you down off the rapidash and you were quickly rushed away by Ms. Honey to be treated. Thankfully it wasn't anything serious and you'd be better soon. Hop and Gloria had also returned a little while after. Like you suspected, she not only passed her next step in training but also managed to evolve her kubfu into an ursifu! You were so happy for her! In Mustard's own words-
"Impressive. Very impressive indeed! I knew I could put my trust in you. Gloria, you've done well to train Kubfu up to that level of strength. You're the first one to pass this trial. Leon was my best student and he too tried this task..but he never completed it. He kept getting lost along the way. No matter how old I get, seeing someone grow brings my heart joy. However there's still one last part of your training you must pass. The ultimate hurdle. The toughest opponent on the Isle will challenge you soon, so you must continue your training and train yourself hard in order to have a chance to beat him. Are you willing to put in that much more work?"
Gloria agreed without hesitation. "Ya got it! I'll train harder than ever n' take him head on!"
"Haha! That's what I love to hear. I will contact him when I think you're ready. In the meantime rest up for the day. You deserve it."
From that day onwards Gloria continued training harder. Often battling Hop even to help get stronger. The two of them also managed to find that guy all his digletts earning her a few last Alola Region pokemon. Your ankle got better fast too. You and Hop continued to help Gloria with her share of chores and you kept a watchful eye on the both of them like you promised Leon. Avery seemed to be better now that you both talked things out. In fact he felt so much better that he approached you one day surprising you. You were both outside watching as Hop was coaching Gloria through a series of push ups when he walked up to you.
"Miss Y/n. Do you perhaps have a moment to spare?"
"Uh. Sure. What's up, Avery?"
He smiled. "Well it accured to me after speaking with Gloria that you don't have any pokemon other than your shiny there."
"Silver Veil. And yeah. I never really got any others. Why?"
"I just so happen to have an extra ponyta that I have no use for." He held up a pokeball to you. "And I don't trust Anyone else here to care for her the same way you care about your drizzlie- Uh. Mr. Silver Veil."
You stared at him in awe before he nudged his hand forward allowing you to slowly take it from him. ... before smiling. "Avery. This is so nice of you." You smiled widely happy at him. "Thank you."
He lit up a pink before clearing his throat and smiling. "But of course. I always-"
B O O M-!!!
