listen. listen to me so carefully right now. (if you're in the eclipse path/planning on viewing). please don't stare directly at the sun tomorrow. i am begging you - do not stare at it. if you got eclipse glasses off of amazon/other, please put them on in your house and make sure you can't see anything; if you can still see like regular sun glasses, they are not safe for eclipse viewing, you will burn your retinas, and we cannot fix that. eclipse glasses should be iso/ce certified, and aas (american astronomical society) approved. please make smart choices and protect your eyes. please.

Ways to use Tarot for Mental Health Maintenance
@local-dragon-owner asked me to make a post about the ways in which tarot can be helpful for mental health maintenance. I've been thinking about witchcraft and health in general and also about tarot and health. Anyways here is the post!
Disclaimer: This will not be a post about how to use tarot to predict mental health outcomes. This is also not a substitute for help from a licenced or certified mental health professional.
Using tarot for when you don't know what you're feeling
There are times when you might feel something but don't always know what it is you're feeling or why you're feeling that way. I always reference Blanche from the Golden Girls when it comes to this feeling, she called the feeling "magenta". You can simply ask two questions, "what is this feeling?" and "why am I feeling this way?" This might be helpful for anyone but especially those that attend mental health therapy. Having at least some insight into your feelings to share with a therapist.
Tarot to ease your mind about potential outcomes
Even the most calm and collected person can have moments of doubt or worry about the outcome of a situation. Instead of asking your cards for a concrete outcome, ask the cards the following question "what is the best possible outcome of this situation?" If the card is what you consider a positive card then meditate, pray, and/or do spellwork to encourage that outcome. If the card is one that makes you feel uneasy or one that you'd rather not have as an outcome for a situation. Ask the cards again "what can I do to change this outcome?" or if you feel that this is not applicable to the situation "what can I do to find peace with this outcome?"
Tarot for self reflection
Tarot can also be a great tool to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, you can ask yourself some of the following questions.
What are some of my strengths?
What are some of my weaknesses?
What parts of myself do I hide?
Why do I hide certain parts of myself?
Who would I be if I felt completely safe to be my most authentic self?
I hope you found this post helpful and please reach out to a medical professional if you are having mental health struggles. Tarot and divination in general are wonderful tools but there is nothing wrong with realizing that you need medical intervention. You owe that to yourself and you are worthy of receiving the best care possible, mind, body, and soul!

Once when I was in college, my period was late. While I wasn't too worried I was pregnant (I'd recently had protected sex), I definitely didn't want to risk it. I googled some home remedies for how to induce a period, and someone recommended parsley tea.
A lot of the medical literature about said parsley tea is mixed. Some say it's highly nutritious, but it's definitely bad in large quantities (kidney failure is a possible side effect.)
But, uh. It worked. The instructions told me to drink it twice a day for three days, and on the third day, it induced my period, exactly as I was told. No baby for me. No negative side effects beyond the fact that it tastes like ass, and I was too scared to add honey or anything that might make it palatable.
I'm 100% not suggesting this for everyone, and again, KIDNEY FAILURE IS A POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECT IN LARGE QUANTITIES, let's not under-emphasize that!
But. I would rather be dead than be forced to carry a pregnancy I don't want, and I know a lot of people with uteruses who feel the same way. So, for $6, here's how you induce your period at home:
Boil water.
Add in parsley. It doesn't matter if it's Italian or curly. You can buy it for like $2 at the store. I bought three bunches and used half in each batch of tea for three days.
Kill the heat and let steep for a minimum of 30 minutes.
Drink.
That's it. If our laws are going to come from the dark ages, then we're going back to the solutions our ancestors have been using for centuries.

Hey I was talking to a coworker and they said that it was safe to take aspirin "until your ears ring", which is the first sign of overdose. If you then immediately stop you'll be completely fine. She claims her surgeon brother told her this. Is this true???
-------------------------
While it's correct that tinnitus (ringing in the ears) is one of the first symptoms of overdose (along with nausea, vomiting, profuse sweating, and fast breathing), logistically there's not really a way to take it "until your ears ring".
Tinnitus is most common in acute (one-time) aspirin overdoses. And it takes about an hour after a toxic dose for enough of the aspirin to get into your system to cause tinnitus. So by the time you have the symptom, you already took too much an hour ago.
Plus, tinnitus is just one of the first symptoms. It doesn't say anything about the severity of the ingestion, or whether or not it was lethal. All it says is that there is too much aspirin in the body.
Following tinnitus, nausea, vomiting, profuse sweating, and fast breathing, the blood becomes very alkaline. Symptoms include numbness and tingling, muscle twitching, fatigue, and dizziness. You also lose a lot of potassium in your urine in this phase- and the resulting low potassium in the blood can cause lethal heart rhythms. If you survive this, the blood then becomes life-threateningly acidic. Symptoms here include weakness, confusion, headache, and fast heartbeat. If the acidosis is not corrected and the potassium replaced, either of these things can lead to death.
About half of aspirin overdoses are intentional. The rest tend to be children who accidentally drink liquid preparations of aspirin or ingest oil of wintergreen (one teaspoon (5ml) of oil of wintergreen contains the equivalent amount of salicylate (the active part of aspirin) to 21 adult aspirins).
It is super important if you are having symptoms of overdose to go to a hospital. You need to get potassium back into your blood and get your pH back to normal or the overdose can absolutely be lethal.
All this to say there's not really a safe way to overdose on aspirin. I'd just stick to what it says to take on the bottle, and if you need more pain relief than that take acetaminophen/paracetamol (not ibuprofen) on top of it, along with other modalities of pain control like heat, cold, distraction, positioning, splinting, or mobility aids. If it continues, talk to a doctor.

are male-to-female hormones safe to take? for life? Also, do you have any tips that can help me lose weight to give me more of a waif look?
I'm not a doctor, so definitely don't take this is real medical advice. But here we go...
There are always risks with any medical procedure. I've knew someone who went in for a heart exam that had a 1 in 10,000 chance of anything going wrong, and who then had a blood clot cause a stroke on the operating table. But without risk, without taking a chance, we never grow and improve our lives. Under the supervision of your general practice doctor and endocrinologist, MtF hormones should be perfectly safe to take for life, provided nothing unexpected shows up to complicate things.
For weight loss, there really is only one path towards that goal: consume less and burn more chemical energy. Doing it healthy is a slow process, ideally taking as long to take off as it did to put on. Target for 1 to 2 pounds, or 0.5 to 1 kilos, of weight loss per week, which translates to on average 500 to 1000 calories burned more than you eat. Metabolisms vary from person to person, so you may need to eat and burn more or less than that target. Also, how you get to that goal depends on what works best for you. Interval fasting, calorie counting, highly structured dieting... Just start skimming calories off your food until you dial in that 1 to 2 pounds per week loss. Do not overdo it! No matter how much you want to lose it faster, it won't do you any good if you can't maintain the loss. Starvation diets? Binging and purging? Even if they technically drop weight faster, they do a lot of damage to your body and the weight just rebounds back to where you started. Be good to yourself, be healthy. No one (worth having around) wants to see you get hurt going after an unrealistic goal.
If you're going for the waif look, there's two other things to keep in mind, other than that the waif look isn't terribly healthy if your body doesn't just naturally look like that. One, part of what determines that look is skeletal structure. Nothing will shrink or re-align your bones, no matter how much weight you lose. So, depending on your body shape, you might have to settle for "close enough". Your skeleton is your skeleton. Even genetic girls have to deal with that. Two: cardio, cardio, cardio. You want to lose weight, but not gain mass. Some strength training is definitely a good thing, but your main focus should be on burning those calories. Also, it's goo for strengthening your heart and lungs, which helps fend off heart disease. Bonus!
Good luck, anon, and please! See a real doctor. I'm just going off my best info and there is no guarantee I'm right.

Simple Sleepy Girl Mocktail & Herbal Sleepy Girl Mocktail Recipes
These are just some of my sleepy girl Mocktail Recipes, let me know what you think if you try them! 💚
Simple Sleepy Girl Mocktail Recipe
1 tbsp. tart cherry concentrate
1 tsp. magnesium bisglycinate powder
8 oz. of water, fruit juice, or sparkling water
Mix together a small amount of your water, juice, or sparkling water and magnesium powder. I do this because I find it helps the magnesium to dissolve easily. Then add the tart cherry concentrate along with the rest of your water, juice, or sparkling water.
Herbal Sleepy Girl Mocktail Recipe
1 tbsp. dried roses (make sure they are food grade)
1 tbsp. chamomile
2 tsp. passionflower
1 tbsp. tart cherry concentrate
1 tsp. magnesium bisglycinate powder
4 oz of your favorite fruit juice
Create an infusion of the dried roses, chamomile, and passionflower by adding the herbs to a 16 oz heat safe jar, then fill the jar up the rest of the way with freshly boiled water. Allow it to sit until it cools completely. Once you are ready to make your mocktail, strain, then mix a small amount of your infusion or juice along with your magnesium into your glass. Once the magnesium has dissolved add the rest of your infusion along with your tart cherry concentrate and fruit juice.
Below are the links to the tart cherry concentrate and magnesium bisglycinate I use to make my mocktails.

I don't know if this experience is specific to me, where I went to school, or where I live, but I feel that my education in regards to nutrition (as a layperson) was just pigeonholing foods. Here are some examples of what I wished i had learned earlier in my life:
Dairies (milk, cheese, yogurt, and some alternatives) can be a good source of protein - protein is not exclusive to meats and fish
Coconut milk is a good non-dairy substitute for cream, particularly in soups/curries, but is high in saturated fat
Pre-made spice mixes typically contain more salt/sugar than necessary - if you're trying to be careful, it's better and cheaper to make your own spice mixes and adjust seasoning as needed
Avocado is a more nutritious substitute for butter spread or mayo, but it is still high in fat
There are meats, fish, and vegetables that are high in calcium - calcium isn't exclusive to dairies
If you're trying to be mindful of sugar intake, mind consumption of dairies/dairy alternatives, condiments like BBQ sauce/ketchup, juices, adding honey/sugar to coffee or tea
The human body needs salt! It's ok to season food in moderation
The human body needs fats too! It's ok to consume fats in moderation, with awareness of what kinds of fats are being consumed
Needless, restrictive, and/or unsupervised dieting can mess with your digestive microbiome and how your body absorbs vitamins and nutrients

I got some eclipse glasses from my high school. do you think those will be okay? I can’t see out of them like regular sun glasses, the sun just looks like an egg yolk with everything else dark.
Sounds like they got you good glasses! If you look at the glasses on the inside or outside, you should see an ISO certification symbol, kind of like this:
Tumblr media
This is also an excellent article on telling real glasses from counterfeit, which unfortunately are abundant due to online retailers.
If you can see the brand on the glasses, you can also search for it on this page!
But from what you've described, it sounds like you've got a good pair. And of course, if your eyes bother you at any time, you can look away and watch the shadows which are also super cool.
Happy viewing, stay safe!

I've been wearing my mouth guard more consistently and that has been helping. It's not perfect, but it's helpful. Also one paracetamol in the morning. For some reason the paracetamol tends to help more than ibuprofen.

Risk Assessment: Should You Go to the Doctor?
Add one point for each statement that applies to you.
You are a woman.
You are not white.
You are transgender, intersex, or gender-nonconforming.
You are queer.
You are under the age of 25.
You are over the age of 60.
You are overweight (whatever that means today).
You have one or more psychiatric conditions.
You have one or more physical disabilities.
You have one or more chronic health conditions.
You have a neurological difference or disability that affects communication (i.e. autism).
You have more than one of the above (7-11).
Your appearance is in any way disheveled or “unprofessional.”
Your appearance is too professional.
You are visibly distressed about your symptoms.
You are not visibly distressed about your symptoms.
You do not speak English.
English is not your first language, or you speak English with an accent.
You are on Medicaid.
You are uninsured.
You are poor or working class.
You are addicted to drugs or have a history of drug use.
This is not your first time this year seeking medical attention for this issue.
This is more than your fifth time this year seeking medical attention for this issue.
You have lost count of how many times you have sought medical attention for this issue.
It will be a challenge to condense your medical history and current symptoms into a narrative can fit within a standard-length clinical visit.
It will be a such a challenge that you will probably leave some things out.
It will be such a challenge that you plan to skip it entirely focus only on your most immediately concerning symptom(s).
0 points: Low risk. Positive outcome not guaranteed, but you probably won’t be accused of malingering or 5150’d.
1 - 5 points: Some risk. Be prepared to be asked if you are “stressed.” If you aren’t already on anti-depressants or anxiolytic medication, you may be offered some.
6 - 10 points: Moderate risk. Your concerns may be blamed on your existing medical conditions, disabilities, body size, or lifestyle. Be prepared to be interrupted.
11 - 20 points: Elevated risk. You may be accused of exaggerating, doctor shopping, or drug seeking. Alternatively, you may be treated like an idiot. Speak carefully: appear informed, but not better informed than the clinician. Appear respectable and put-together, but not so much so that they doubt that you’re really in pain.
20+ points: High risk. Prepare yourself to be treated like a criminal or dismissed wholesale. Consider taking notes. Consider recording the appointment, if you’re in a single-party consent state. Walk a razor-thin line between appearing sympathetic and firmly advocating for yourself. Keep your immediate priority in the crosshairs. Don’t let your guard down, but don’t get hysterical. Lower your expectations. Firm up your resolve. Bring tissues in case you need to cry after (but for the love of god, don’t cry during). Good luck.

As an individual, I get congested pretty often. I've had COVID three times and pneumonia once, and my allergies have always been bad, and the weather's changing. I usually feel worst in the morning.
My sleepy brain then has to decide whether I'm Sick, whether I still need to drag myself to classes and work (yay, capitalism), or whether I'm gonna be fine in the next 10 minutes. I have trouble with bodily sensations too. So I've finally developed a first-thing-in-the-morning test to help me figure stuff out.
DISCLAIMER: This isn't medical advice. Don't ignore the pandemic. Your mileage may vary.
I check my temperature first just to get a baseline. My ears and throat usually feel the worst. I run the sink as hot as it goes, soak a washcloth, wring it just a little, and hold it over one ear (this is called a hot compress). I fill a cup with hot water and drink the whole thing. I switch to the other ear and drink more water if my throat still hurts.
I lie down on my back and play on my phone for a few minutes, feeling my ears and sinuses draining. Then I eat a granola bar. If I end up needing meds, I'll want food with it, and the chewing helps wiggle stuff loose. I grab one of those cinnamon candy discs, which work better for me than any cough drop, and lay down on my front to see if I cough up any gunk. The cinnamon also helps clear my airways. Tilting head side to side helps with sinuses draining.
From there I can make a more accurate judgment. For instance, today I slept through classes, so I know I'm not doing great. My temp is normal, so I'm probably not fighting an infection yet. My sinuses drained well and my throat feels way better. I only coughed up a little gunk. My ears are still pretty plugged. I'll take a few meds for that. Since I'm not dead, I'll need to go to work in a few hours. I load trucks, so I'll inform my supervisors and stay far away from other people today.
Anyway, I hope y'all are doing better than me healthwise. Again, this isn't medical advice. Don't ignore the pandemic. Don't ignore how you feel. If you're also in a situation where you gotta soldier on, I hope this helps you deal with your symptoms.

Truly mushrooms are the best antidepressant I’ve ever tried, they reignite my childlike wonder, give me my motivation back, allows me to explore my ideas, makes me creative again!!! And I can just take them when the brain is being bad, I don’t have to remember to take them at a certain time every day. And they’re not a yucky pill, I can put them in my tummy coffee or tea! I can’t recommend them enough. (Of course this is just my experience with them and is not universal! Do what’s right for u)
