listen. listen to me so carefully right now. (if you're in the eclipse path/planning on viewing). please don't stare directly at the sun tomorrow. i am begging you - do not stare at it. if you got eclipse glasses off of amazon/other, please put them on in your house and make sure you can't see anything; if you can still see like regular sun glasses, they are not safe for eclipse viewing, you will burn your retinas, and we cannot fix that. eclipse glasses should be iso/ce certified, and aas (american astronomical society) approved. please make smart choices and protect your eyes. please.

Hi Joy- if you have the spoons to answer, that would be lovely, but if not, feel free to ignore/delete this!
Do you know if you have to have double vision to have a BVD? I've struggled with random unexplainable nausea, light sensitivity, eye strain, crappy hand-eye coordination, preferring to read with my glasses off, one eye closed, and the book 2 inches from my face, basically a ton of the symptoms they list, for my entire life but because I don't have double vision, the Dr I saw for an assessment basically dismissed me outright and told me there was no way I had any sort of BVD.
If she was wrong and you can have BVD without double vision, I'd really like to get reassessed, and google has not been helpful. Thanks in advance!
Hi friend, I'm sorry to hear you're struggling.
So here's the thing. My double vision is incredibly subtle to the point where I didn't even know it was happening until the doctor I saw last week put the prisms in place, and I suddenly realized there was a higher level of clarity available to me, and I've been overcompensating to keep things in place.
I squint a lot without realizing it. I tilt my head from side to side a lot, which is apparently a telltale sign that I'm using my neck/head positioning to keep my eyes in focus. And as my eye doctor told me last week, just because I wasn't seeing double vision all the time didn't mean there wasn't something wrong with my eyes. The fact alone that I can't stand to be in a brightly lit room was a testament to something being wrong, and even if it wasn't classic BVD he was going to help me figure it out or refer me to someone who could. As it turned out, there is an issue with my eyes; it just wasn't immediately apparent until he got into the full exam, and my world started spinning.
To give you an idea of what it was like:
My regular ophthalmologist (who I actually like, he's a very nice and compassionate man!) spent 20 minutes doing my full eye exam and told me I had zero issues with either vertical or horizontal misalignments because my vision didn't double until the object he was testing me with was close to my eyes.
The neuro-ophthalmologist I saw last week also noted the same thing, but then he spent an hour alone mapping how my eyes tracked movement and not stationary objects, and that's when the double vision became very apparent very quickly, and it felt like I was falling out of my chair. It was like being on a rollercoaster until he put the corrective prisms over my eyes, and I was suddenly able to track rapid motion without having to grip the armrests of the chair for fear I was going to fall over. It was still nausea-inducing because my eyes weren't used to it, but the difference was night and day for me.
So, you might not have BVD, but it definitely sounds like something is up that you might want to get a second opinion on.
Also, if you didn't check them out yet, Axon Optics have got a massive winter sale right now, and these are the rose-tinted glasses my new eye doctor recommended over classic blue-light-blocking glasses. They are non-RX, though they can make RX lenses too. I've currently got a pair of "Cover RX" glasses on to help me look at the screen. You can wear them over your normal glasses for extra light protection.
I'm not affiliated or anything. (Though haha, Axon, if you're watching...) They've just been revolutionary for me at removing a significant chunk of my daily pain from light sensitivity alone.
Good luck. I wish you well in figuring things out.

Hypermobility is a spectrum disorder: its not all about subluxations!
There’s a very classic view of what hypermobility syndromes are or look like…in the case of hEDS, many joint subluxations and the like; basically, symptoms that affect joints, not taking into account a whole other range of symptoms that can often present themselves as well as, or instead of, major joint issues. Also a persistent viewpoint, maintained by GPs, that it is a rare condition (by the…

i understand if u cant answer this/ don’t feel comfortable. i really like blink gel tears. they say they’re by johnson & johnson on the back. they’re not listed on the recall. do u think they’re a big enough company to be safe? i’ve just got a lot of anxiety.
Hello friend! Please keep in mind that I am not a doctor and I can't tell you which tears, specific to you, will be best for you, but that said, Johnson & Johnson is a pretty big health and wellness company and I haven't seen any recalls for them recently re. ophthalmic stuff. I would say, if you're really anxious you can call your optometrist and ask for a recommendation for tears that they feel are unlikely to be affected by the recall and which would be a good replacement for the Blink. The FDA is currently saying that they have NOT received any "adverse event reports of eye infection associated with these products at this time," so that's something to keep in mind!
Trust me, your optometrist gets DOZENS of calls whenever there's a recall! We are expecting them! We get notifications every day if there are products added to the list (you can check too, at the FDA website!), and it's absolutely fine if you call! No one will be annoyed, it honestly is something we expect whenever it happens. We would rather you call and ask for advice than just...stopping EVERYTHING and telling no one.
And if you have concerns about your vision, same thing! Call your optometrist! I promise I promise I promise you are not a bother. We want you to take care of your eyes and there are no stupid questions! <3

Honestly, has anyone on here used castor oil as eye drops? I usually use it on my eyebrows and eyelids, it helps keep the skin smooth and supple around the eyes! *plus my brows and lashes are more lush*
BUT I never used CO as eye drops? It says it's good for dry eye????? Which I have, and I've used eye drops/eye gels.....and it's a temp relief....👁👁💧

Blinding Brightness
As we continue to progress with automobiles and technology, it seems that there is a rapidly progressing problem, excessively bright LED headlights. I was driving home from choir practice last night, and granted I was already really tired and a little annoyed, but nevertheless, a giant truck was headed my way in the opposite lane and I had to all but pull my car over because their lights were so painfully bright I couldn’t even see the road. Light pollution is already a huge problem in our society and according to the Natural History Museum’s article Increasing Light Pollution is Drowning out the Stars, this pollution will increase by a factor of four over an 18 year period. This article goes on to state that the blue tint to LED headlights are making it more difficult for satellites to accurately calculate how much light pollution there really is. All in all, the blindingly bright LED headlights need to go, they’re annoying and serve no real purpose because the old halogen headlights are just as effective without frying the corneas of other drivers.
Linked below is the article I pulled information from as well as a video on the pros and cons of LED headlights ⬇️⬇️⬇️

It's been 2 years since I've had a stroke and lost a good chunk of my peripheral vision in both eyes. Every 6 months I have an eye exam to see what improvements my brain-to-eye connection is having! It doesn't look like much if ya don't know what you're looking at, however, it's coming back pretty nicely! I've had some improvements. Mind you - 100% recovery was never guaranteed or promised. I'll take what I can get and hope it keeps improving! I deserve a treat of some kind lol.

Just discovered another nice firefox addon today, which automatically creates "dark mode" for websites by darkening any bright backgrounds. Makes everything much easier on my eyes. :)

Karin Magnussen-Mengele's willing assistant
Somebody once told me “Evil acts can only be committed by men”. I disputed that notion, History has many examples of women who are just as evil, if not more evil, then men. Anyone who knows me , knows that eye health is extremely important to me, In 2011 I lost my right eye, and in 2015 I nearly lost my left one too, For the best part of a year I was basically blind. That’s why when I see…

Clear Power
Healthy vision counts on a healthy blood supply. It’s why so many eye diseases that cause blindness involve disrupting the eye’s blood vessels. During development, your eyes create no less than three different blood vessel networks – hyaloid, choroidal and retinal – with the hyaloid network disappearing as the retinal network appears. Investigating this process has proven difficult using traditional histology techniques as this destroys the structure of these networks. Researchers now present an approach to overcome this: light sheet fluorescence microscopy (LFSM) of isolated mouse eyes chemically treated to become transparent. Analysis of these microscopy images allowed researchers to measure and quantify the development of the hyaloid network over time and in 3D (pictured), as well as the distribution of various cell populations in different parts of the eye. This model, therefore, aids investigations into cell interactions across the whole eye so researchers can better probe eye health and disease.

Uveitis Symptoms Causes & Treatment
Uveitis, also known as middle layer inflammation, is a condition in which the eye develops. The iris, the ciliary body, and the choroid make up this structure. They control light penetration, produce aqueous hormone (fluid filling up front parts), and supply blood and oxygen to the retina.
Uveitis may be caused by infection, an autoimmune disorder, or idiopathic (of unknown origin). Uveitis can cause eye pain, blurred vision and sensitivity to light. Uveitis can be treated with steroid eye drops/injections, oral medications, or surgery in the most severe cases.
If you suspect you might have uveitis, it is important to seek immediate medical attention. Untreated, it can lead to vision loss and glaucoma.
Tumblr media
What are the symptoms of Uveitis?
There are many symptoms associated with uveitis. They can vary depending on the cause. Nevertheless, there are some common symptoms and signs associated with this eye condition:
Eye pain
Eyes are red
Blurred vision
Photophobia - Sensitivity towards light
Floaters are small spots or specks that appear to float in your field of vision.
Vision loss or decreased vision
Headaches
Tearing or watering down the eyes
Eye irritation or discomfort
Uveitis can present in various stages. Some people may not have symptoms at all, and some inflammation may only be diagnosed during routine eye exams. Consult an eye doctor if you have any of these symptoms, or have concerns about your eyes health.
What is the treatment for Uveitis?
The treatment of uveitis depends on the severity, location and cause. The goal of treatment is to reduce inflammation, alleviate symptoms, prevent complications, and preserve vision. The following are common treatments for uveitis:
Uveitis must be treated immediately to prevent complications and maintain vision. It is recommended that you have regular follow-up visits with your eye doctor to monitor the condition, adjust treatment, and report any changes.

Regular visits to your doctor are important. Advance Ayurvedic Eye Care by Sanjeevan Netralaya is extremely effective for Uveitis and all other retinal problems. Each patient's health and history is considered and a customized treatment is created for them. This ensures that there are no side effects and pain-free treatment.
