“Yeah, I was just looking for my cat ears.” Lie. You were overanalyzing yourself like you always did before you went out but you knew if you told Jack that he’d feel bad and tell you that you didn’t have to go if you weren’t comfortable.

It wasn’t clear if Jack really believed your lie but he glanced around the room for the headband anyways before finding it on the edge of the bed next to you and placing them on your head for you.

Still sitting on the edge of the bed from when you were putting on your boots before you caught a look at yourself in the mirror, you looked up at Jack, who’s hands stayed on the side of your face after gently placing the headband on you.

So now, late at night, when you were supposed to be having quiet and sweet moments with your boyfriend; your boyfriend that you didn’t get to see very often at that! You spent those moments thinking about those stupid likes on those stupid pictures of those stupidly beautiful girls.

And as for you, the comments had really gotten to your head. Even when you weren’t with Jack and you weren’t on your phone or in your childhood room. You still found someone to compare yourself to. It was like some kind of superpower.

Jack didn’t say anything or take his eyes off of the box of hair dye. He didn’t buy it for a second but he just didn’t understand. How could you not see how beautiful you were. Jack sighed before moving you over to the counter, placing you next to the box.

so part of me wants to blame this entirely on wbd, right? bloys said he was cool with the show getting shopped around, so assuming he was telling the truth (not that im abt to start blindly trusting anything a CEO says lol), that means it’s not an hbo problem. and we already know wbd has an awful track record with refusing to sell their properties—altho unlike coyote v acme, s3 of ofmd isn’t a completed work and therefore there isn’t the same tax writeoff incentive to bury the thing. i just can’t see any reason to hold on to ofmd except for worrying about image, bc it would be embarrassing if they let this show go with such a devoted fanbase and recognizable celebrities and it went somewhere else and did really well (which it would undoubtedly do really well, we’ve long since proven that). it feels kinda tinfoil hat of me to making assumptions abt what’s going on in wbd behind the scenes, but i also feel like there are hints that i’m onto something w my suspicions: suddenly cracking down on fan merch on etsy doesn’t seem like something a studio looking to sell their property would bother with, and we know someone was paying to track the viewing stats on ofmd’s bbc airing, which isn’t finished yet, so i’d expect whoever is monitoring that to not make a decision abt buying ofmd until the s2 finale dropped.

but also i think part of me just wants there to be a clear villain in the situation. it’s kinda comforting to have a face to blame, a clear target to shake my fist at. but the truth is that the entire streaming industry is in the shitter. streaming is not pulling in the kind of profit that investors were promised, and we’re seeing the bubble that was propped up w investor money finally start to pop. studios aren’t leaving much room in their budgets for acquiring new properties, and they’re whittling down what they already have. especially w the strikes last year, they’re all penny pinching like hell. and that’s much a much harder thing to rage against than just one studio or one CEO being shitty. that’s disheartening in a way that’s much bigger and more frightening than if there was just one guy to blame.

my guess is that the truth of the situation is probably somewhere in the middle. wbd is following the same shitty pattern they’ve been following since the merger, and it’s just a hard time for anyone trying to get their story picked up by any studio. ofmd is just one of many shows that are unlucky enough to exist at this very unstable time for the tv/streaming industry.

when i think abt it that way, tho, i’m struck by how lucky we are that ofmd even got to exist at all. if the wbd merger had happened a year earlier, or if djenks and tw tried to pitch this show a year later, there’s no way this show would’ve been made. s1 was given the runtime and the creative freedom needed to tell the story the way the showrunners wanted to, and the final product benefited from it so much that it became a huge hit from sheer gay word of mouth. and for all the imperfections with s2—the shorter episode order, the hard 30 minute per episode limit, the last-minute script changes, the finale a butchered mess of the intended creative vision—the team behind ofmd managed to tell a beautiful story despite the uphill battle they undoubtedly were up against. they ended the season with the main characters in a happy place. ed and stede are together, and our last shot of ed isn’t of him sobbing uncontrollably (like i rlly can’t stress enough how much i would have never been able to acknowledge the existence of this show again if s1 was all we got)

like. y’all. we were this close to a world where ofmd never got to exist. for me, at least, the pain of an undue cancellation is worth getting to have this story at all. so rather than taking my comfort in the form of righteous anger at david zaslav or at wbd or at the entire streaming industry as a whole, i’m trying to focus on how lucky i am to get to have the show in the first place.

bc really, even as i’m reeling in grief to know this is the end of the road for ofmd, a part of me still can’t quite wrap my head around that this show is real. a queer romcom about middle-aged men, a rejection of washboard abs and facetuned beauty standards, a masterful deconstruction and criticism of toxic masculinity, well-written female characters who get to shine despite being in a show that is primarily about manhood and masculinity, diverse characters whose stories never center around oppression and bigotry, a casually nonbinary character, violent revenge fantasies against oppressors that are cathartic but at the same time are not what brings the characters healing and joy, a queer found family, a strong theme of anti colonialism throughout the entire show. a diverse writers room that got to use their perspectives and experiences to inform the story. the fact that above all else, this show is about the love story between ed and stede, which means the character arcs, the thoughts, the feelings, the motivations, the backstories, and everything else that make up the characters of ed and stede are given the most focus and the most care.

bc there rlly aren’t a lot of shows where a character like stede—a flamboyant and overtly gay middle-aged man who abandoned his family to live his life authentically—gets to be the main character of a romcom, gets to be the hero who the show is rooting for.

and god, there definitely aren’t a lot of shows where a character like ed—a queer indigenous man who is famous, successful, hyper-competent, who feels trapped by rigid standards of toxic hypermasculinity, who yearns for softness and gentleness and genuine interpersonal connection and vulnerability, whose mental health struggles and suicidal intentions are given such a huge degree of attention and delicate care in their depiction, who messes up and hurts people when he’s in pain but who the show is still endlessly sympathetic towards—gets to exist at all, much less as the romantic lead and the second protagonist of the show.

so fuck the studios, fuck capitalism, fuck everything that brought the show to an end before the story was told all the way through. because the forces that are keeping s3 from being made are the same forces that would’ve seen the entire show canceled before it even began. s3 is canceled, and s2 suffered from studio meddling, but we still won. we got to have this show. we got to have these characters. there’s been so much working against this show from the very beginning but here we are, two years later, lives changed bc despite all odds, ofmd exists. they can’t take that away from us. they can’t make us stop talking abt or stop caring abt this show. i’m gonna be a fan of this show til the day i die, and the studios hate that. they hate that we care about things that don’t fit into their business strategy, they hate that not everyone will blindly consume endless IP reboots and spin-offs and cheap reality tv.

anyway i dont rlly have a neat way to end this post. sorta just rambling abt my feelings. idk, i know this sucks but im not rlly feeling like wallowing in it. i think my gratitude for the show is outweighing my grief and anger, at least for right now. most important thing tho is im not going anywhere. and my love for this show is certainly not fucking going anywhere.

You’re awfully quiet, and Seungmin is quick to notice. Normally, you joke around with him, you laugh at his jokes even when they’re really lame, you shine when you’re happy, and the difference is evident for him. Not that you’re not as beautiful as always, but the quiet and the lack of smile is noticeable, at least for him.

He decides not to comment on it for a while, assuming you’ll tell him if you want to share. But when enough time has passed, and you’re laying on the couch next to him, watching a movie, he breaks. Your attention is clearly somewhere else, you’re lost in thoughts and your face makes it evident that the thoughts on your mind are not precisely happy ones.

“Baby?” he asks, and he knows something’s wrong when that doesn’t get your attention. “y/n?” he asks again, his voice almost a whisper, worry gnawing at his chest.

You look at him, and your eyes are glossy like you’re fighting hard not to spill the tears that have gathered in your eyes.

“Oh, baby.” He sounds so sad for you, and he extends his arm, an open invitation for a hug. Usually, you’d be quick to accept and cuddle him, but today… Yeah, today is an exception.

You shake your head and the tears finally fall. You don’t intend them to, but they apparently don’t let you control them anymore. They’re spilling from your eyes, rolling down your cheeks, and leaving you naked and vulnerable in your boyfriend’s eyes. You hate crying, but you hate crying in front of him more. You know his heart is breaking by the way he looks at you like he’d gladly take all of your pain and carry it for you (he would).

He waits, his arms still open. It is evident on his face that he doesn’t know what to do. He always respects your boundaries, especially when it comes to physical touch and when or when it is not welcomed. You’re not a big fan of PDA, and neither is he, so he’s always asking before doing something, sometimes even when you’re alone. It is endearing. Today, though, you can tell he’s doubting whether he’s doing the right thing or not.

“Baby, what’s wrong?” his voice is on the verge of breaking, and you cry harder. Why, why would he worry this much? Why would he care? Why should he care? Why does he care? You surely don’t deserve a boy like him.

You shake your head again and sigh. A voice in the back of your head reminds you of the importance of communication in a relationship, and you curse at it, even when you know it’s true. You sigh again.

“Why?” You say finally, only able to voice the only word repeating in your mind. He looks confused, and the look is so endearing you almost want to laugh through the tears; you’re incapable of actually doing so, though. “Why me?” You say, voice quieter now, more weak. His eyes soften, and you think he’s beginning to understand.

He’s patient. He doesn’t push. He doesn’t answer the question because he doesn’t want to say the wrong thing. He’s waiting for you to actually ask something he can answer.

“Why choose me, when you can have anyone?” The question is whispered, but it sounds so loud in Seungmin’s head, resonating against its walls, and he wants to scream just to quiet it.

For your ears, though, he only gasps. His arms lowered when you started speaking, and his hands twitched as soon as you finished voicing the question. He wants to hold you. He wants to cry himself, but he forces himself to remain strong to provide you with that strength.

“Because I want you,” he says, like it’s obvious. “I always want you. I don’t care who I could have, as long as I have you, I don’t care about anyone else.” He’s looking directly at you, trying to get his point across.

You look down, staring into your lap while the tears fall.

“It’s just…”

He waits. He waits so patiently, even though he’s growing desperate to hug you and reassure you. He waits, because boundaries or whatever.

“It’s just that sometimes, when you’re doing promotions…” you hide your face behind your hands as your crying becomes more intense. “I just think… you deserve one of them, you know, an idol who can dance and sing and who looks so pretty and so tiny and… I can’t ever be that. No matter how hard I try, I’m me and you just deserve so much better than I can be.”

Your tears are falling freely, the waterfall has opened and it’s clear it doesn’t plan on closing soon.

“y/n,” he says, he’s worried and he’s serious, and you fear you might have made him angry because the serious look on his face is unusual. “Listen to me, and listen clearly: I want you.” He enunciates the words, pronouncing each one loud and clear. “I don’t care about them, I chose you because you’re you, and that’s exactly what I want. And I deserve exactly that: what I want. What I want is you.” He is the one to sigh now. “I can’t even look at other people, baby. You’re the prettiest person my eyes have ever laid upon – and I say this while seeing Hyunjin every day, you know.” He laughs at the last part.

You laugh a little, too, even if it’s weak. You want to believe him, even if your fears are stronger today. You know he means what he says, even if you can’t understand how he can mean it.

His touch is barely there when he reaches for your hand, trying to take them out of your face. “Let me wipe your tears, please. I’ve got you, baby, I’m right here.”

You let him lower your hands, but you still keep your gaze fixed on your lap. His touch is still featherlike when he softly caresses your chin, indicating for you to look up. You do, your glossy eyes meeting his, not as glossy as yours but almost there.

“I’m sorry. I’m being really difficult today. I’m sorry”

You’ll never not be amazed by Seungmin’s ability to understand what’s going on around him, by his tuned senses for everyone’s needs. So, it is still a surprise when Seungmin notices you getting barely closer and extends his arm towards you. You welcome the invitation, now, and pretty much throw yourself to him, his hold so strong, like he wants to hold you tight enough that it’ll fix everything broken inside you.

“Don’t apologize for needing some help every now and then. It’s okay to need reassurance, and I’m always willing to give it to you – you make this world better. . . you make me better. So please, let me help you when you’re getting in your head like this. I’m here for you, today, tomorrow, the day after that… even in 2065 when you’re all old and wrinkly, I’ll be by your side.” He gives a small kiss on the side of your head, and you let out a small chuckle.

“I love you so much, Seungminnie,” you say, quietly, into the dark room as the credits to the movie you were watching start rolling.

“I know,” he says, rocking you slightly. “Now, I’m going to put on another movie and you lay your head on my shoulder and try to sleep. It will all be better tomorrow when you wake up next to me.” You nod, doing as he says while he puts on a Disney movie. You turn your head to give a small kiss on his shoulder, and he chuckles. “I love you too, by the way.”

He’s right. Everything's better when you’re next to him, and you hurt a lot less when in between his arms.

I don't think it's wrong for people to be upset about this. I don't want their company to fail, I wish the best for them, but this move really does feel like a kick in the face to a lot of people.

$6 for a video a week, tops, is wild to me. I understand that they need more money to keep up production but this feels like the worst way to do that. I keep trying to find a way of looking at this that's positive but it's so difficult. Especially since they're also taking down their past content (which Watcher told Variety was the plan, and Ryan later went back on?). The whole thing just feels convoluted and tone deaf.

Again, I don't hate them or hope for their downfall or anything awful like that, but the fans are the ones who have supported them this whole time, I think we're allowed to feel upset by such a massive change. (Especially with it being broadcasted as something we'd all be ecstatic to hear.)

Sorry to just dump this all here, I know you're likely still processing the news too, I guess I just wanted to add in my two cents? Idk, not to pull out the mom line, but I rlly do feel like I'm not angry, just disappointed 😭.

i think i feel similarly. i am still processing and haven’t fully decided how i feel yet. both sides are right but the people being mean and cruel are the wrong ones which i really do hate to see some have stooped so low.

artists should be paid but loyal audiences shouldn’t be blindsided. i feel like a lot of decisions were made without us which sounds so selfish to say but the sentiment is there.

what’s frustrating is 6$ doesn’t seem like a big ask but it is for a lot of people. apart from those who would pay it but can’t, casual viewers wouldn’t even if they could. like i have a coworker that just enjoys one of their shows and i can’t see them paying to watch it (i’ll share my login but that’s not the point i’m making). it just alienates a lot of their viewers. :/

When he tries to go in for a hug, Matty pulls you into his side possessively. You awkwardly raise your hand in a wave and try to telepathically convey an apology to your co-star.

‘What the fuck was that?’ you ask as soon as Hal’s out of earshot.

‘What was what?’ he asks innocently.

‘You, acting like a complete ass!’ you fold your arms over your chest and look at him impatiently.

‘Really?’ he asks incredulously, ‘you’re mad at me for not being best friends with the guy?’

‘Don’t twist my words,’ you warn.

‘Well sorry for not being all chummy with the guy who had his tongue shoved down your throat!’

So that’s what this is about… In the past, you’ve teased him about being jealous but him being a jealous boyfriend is where you draw the line.

‘It’s my job!’

‘Sorry for not loving it when I have to see my girlfriend making out with other people,’ he sasses back.

‘And you kiss fans on stage,’ you point out.

‘That’s different!’

‘How is that different?’ You try not to shout at him but this has been a long day and now he’s making it even more frustrating.

‘I am not naked and moaning when I kiss them,’ he throws his hands in the air, rolls his eyes as if it’s the most obvious thing ever.

‘And I’m not actually having sex with him!’ you defend. ‘It’s my character Sarah having sex with Hal’s character Cam! Why is that so hard to understand?’

‘Don’t talk to me like I’m a child,’ he argues.

‘Well, you’re acting like a child!’ you argue back.

You can feel the headache forming as you hold back the urge to yell and try to swallow your anger. It takes you another two seconds to take a deep breath to calm yourself.

‘Hal’s my friend and this is my job,’ you explain calmly but he’s dead set on being an asshole.

He scoffs and shakes his head.

‘Your friend,’ he laughs bitterly, ‘that’s how it always starts.’

It makes you stop dead in your tracks.

That’s how it always starts…

‘What?’ you ask softly, give him one more chance to take it back.

‘You heard me,’ he mutters petulantly.

Does he not understand what he’s trying to imply? The pit in your stomach grows bigger as your restraint on your anger finally snaps. If he’s intent on being difficult then you can give him a taste of his own medicine.

‘Well, fuck you, Matty,’ you spit, ‘don’t bother coming after me, I’m getting a hotel room.’

He opens his mouth to protest but you have no patience for him anymore. You turn on your heels and walk out of the set in a huff.

He can come find you when he’s done being a dickhead but tonight he can just go fuck himself.

btw every paragraph is talking ab someone new

RATING MY SONGS-CRUSHES

we all know conan gray right? ok great. well yk that one song “the cut that always bleeds”? or “heather”? those 2 songs remind me of my first ever crush from last year. who I changed myself to try and make like me, this crush only lasted for about 2-3 weeks and I ended up being rejected bc he had a girlfriend I didn’t know about. those songs remind me of him because I used to listen to them the 3 times I cried about him. it wasn’t a bad crush but I definitely needed to work on my standards. 3/10.

okay next is money by the drums and afraid by the neighborhood. those 2 songs were songs I’d listen to as i think about him while I was in art class. this dude was fine and funny and taller then me and all of that. problem is: i BARELY knew him. so I confessed by having my friend text him on discord and do it FOR ME (i was too pussy to do it). then it got awkward between us. fast foreword a year and last semester i had pe with him. since he was friends with one of my close friends i got to talk to him and we slowly became ‘friends’. i gained a crush on him again and since then I still do JSSKSKSK. this dude used to chase me in pe and throw dodgeballs at me and make me laugh and stuff so I DEF HAD A REASON. he made me smile and all of that cheesy romance stuff… i HAVENT seen him in like 6 months due to me doing online school now………. i still habe a crush on him. 8/10

okay these songs are first love/late spring and francis forever and bag of bones by mitski. last year I was SUCH A BIG mitski fan it’s actually crazy. okay so me and this dude were in a class together around the end of last year and we actually became best friends! me and him would text on the daily and all of that and we use to ft and make fun of each other and all of that and it was honestly such a good friendship (we had a pet rock together. we used to play fight in the class and I would send him outfits for me to wear out places and he’d help me choose and all of that). i had a crush on him since before the friendship started and so I gained a BIG FAT crush on this dude and it didn’t go away. so fast foreword like 2 months and he tells me he has a crush on my friend! (It was not good I cried for like a week listening to mitski the whole time). and so we went through all of that normal “omg DONT b a pussy and confess to her!” (while i stay quiet ab my crush ab him 💀). and then after like 2 more months I tell him and I’m like “hey i just want to lyk i have a crush on u and IK u aren’t looking for a relationship and I’m not either but I just want to let u know so it doesn’t get in the way of our friendship and I hope u see me the same”. he didn’t really care and we stayed friends. THEN AFTER LIKE A MONTH HE STARTED ACTING ALL WEIRD LIKE “goodnight 💗” AND LET ME SLEEP ON HIS SHOULDER ON THE BUS AND LIKE DID ALL THIS STUFF THAT MADE ME THINK HE LIKED ME (told me how pretty i was, send me hearts, hearts next to my contact name and so on.). this goes on until I find out he does it to like 4 other girls. I CRIED SO HARD U DONT UNDERSTAND. and so after thwt he gets kinda distant and I’m still trying to salvage our friendship and he keeps getting more and more distant until the new school year starts. OKAY SO NEW YEAR NEW ME NEW CRUSH RIGHT? no. WRONG! i still had a crush on this dude after like 6 and a half months and it just keeps going. so me and him keep talking (him kinda being distant but kinda back to normal) and then he starts getting HELLA distant. so then after that I go to my schools fb game and he happens to be there. this dude acts like he doesn’t know who i am until i pull out my bag of chips and I’m sharing with people. so after this I’m still trying to get his attention so I air smack him and turns out. THUS DUMB HOE DOESNT FLINCH. so I ended up smacking him REAL hard right in the face and breaking his glasses. (this happens again like 2 minutes after the first time…) and so he knows I was sorry and joking and I gave my bag of chips and fixed his glasses (they weren’t super broken like u could pop them back into place) and we r good. until he goes back to acting like i don’t exist. that right there was the moment I realized I have lost feelings for this dude so I leave the game and I go home right and all is good. until like a whole semester later and it’s been like months since I didn’t like him anymore and all of that. and so after I go online and I get grounded for 6 months I get on my snapchat and I go onto this groupchwr I’m in with him and I say “hi everyone” and all of that and everyone says hi and then they decide to prank me and say “oh btw _____(him) is dating ______(my friend he used to like)” and I’m like “omg congrats for u guys” yada yada yada and then after an hour (I still believe it bc nb told me it was a joke) I start CRYING AB IT. and I’m so confused I’m like ‘why am I crying I don’t even like him?’ and then I vent to my cousin and she’s like “u still like him ur just not admitting it and that’s why ur sad” and I just keep denying it and everything. then in the end I throw away my feelings and replace them with hate and dislike and now I FR don’t fw him and I don’t like him and I don’t even want to breathe in his direction. this crush was a 2/10 because although I cried most of it and I was sad like the whole time we still had some good times and we still had those fun days and stuff and I don’t want those to go to waste so 2/10. (he didn’t go to my school this year btw)

okok next is poco loco from coco. ur ab to call me a homie hopper but… this dude is the last dudes best friend. okay basically I had a crush on him the mid-end of first semester bc he was just so… perfect? okay so me and this dude were kinda friends. we were in the same gc together and alla that so we talked. this dude was tall and nice to look at and funny and goofy. LITERALLY MY TYPE. so I had a crush on him and we slowly became more friends ever since my friend (a dif friend) broke up w him… so me and him are friends and nothing really happens between us tbh.. poco loco reminds me of him bc he’s a spanish speaker and he would like send me the lyrics of it sometimes and he would just b making fun of it and stuff. we also played a lot of imsg games… 4/10

i think lacie would appreciate genevieve… not that they have a lot of one on one time, but she thinks gen is good for her brother & that gen’s a sweet person. but she’s fine w also not getting too close, esp when she knows she’s going to die 😜 she spends a lot of time trying to set them up so that oswald will have gen after he sends her to the abyss.. does not work, but thank you for trying!!!

lottie is the maid of honor at their wedding, i think!!! (genevieve and oswald don’t actually get married before the whole, like, murdering thing, but it’s ok!!!), and as a result, fang, lily, & dug are also cheering on genwald. no.1 genwald fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they also like that genevieve is bringing oswald out of his shell :))

chatty gf x dutifully listening bf………… oswald is happy to let genevieve tell him anything, mostly bc he finds her to be very engaging in a way where he doesn’t feel the need to expend energy. she likes that abt him as well—where she doesn’t feel like she needs to hide her actual thoughts, since he jst seems to accept everything she says. they’re also good for each other bc oswald is a very calm, unruffled person, and gen needs that energy to calm down her anxiety/flighty nature.

they clash in the sense that oswald will not communicate anything to gen at all… she doesn’t get him w/o him telling her anything, so it leaves her feeling scared and uncertain abt things.. and then genevieve willl clam up and stop telling him things out of that fear, which pushes him away, since a huge part of their relationship is him feeling at peace whenever she talks to him. it’s the only time he feels connected to someone :((

see you tomorrow - evgeny grinko, bc that’s their little flirting dance… you’ll come tomorrow again, right? to nap in a patch of sunlight while i weed the garden? while i draw? while i lay down next to you and look at the clouds? it’s a delicate sort of desire for more, where they’re both scared to let it go further, and even more scared to let it go..

streaks - anima!, jst bc that’s how gen feels wrt how she’s been thrown into the world, expected to understand it + get a husband. she’s been forced to study how society works, all while being told she’ll understand when she gets older.. except now she’s older and she doesn’t get it at all!!!!!!!!!!!! oswald is patiently sitting there, nodding as she rants abt this, wondering why he hates the idea of her finding a husband bc it’s expected of her 🤔

elephant - bôa, mostly bc i feel like gen’s got this feeling of needing to get out, find something beautiful and new, to be free, where no one knows her, and that she’d always be quick to tell oswald that he should come and follow her.. she knows he needs to escape too, but she can’t quite convince him. no matter. she’ll run off alone, if need be.. but she’d be so much less afraid w oswald coming with her :(

seeing fluffy clouds in a white sky, flowers, the smell of rose water, neat bugs, books, and a messy notebook always makes oswald think of genevieve.

I think Steve is in my top 5 just because he’s a fun character and because I genuinely did enjoy the scoops ahoy part of s3. I would argue he IS a main character because I feel like for how long he’s been in the show it’s fair. But that doesn’t take away from the fact he is still kind of 1 dimensional with very limited layer compared to my babies Mike, Will, Max ,Lucas, hell even Dustin. I don’t think people enjoying his character or making him their favorite is a problem, but the trend we’ve been seeing with steddie and Steve / Eddie enjoyers being very rude to people who actually take a deeper look into the show gets rlly annoying. Ig I just don’t like to judge people based on their favs but rather their actual personality and blogs bc ik as a Mike main most people would hate me first glance, I just don’t want to do that to someone else.

you’re definitely allowed to enjoy steve, because he is a good character!! my criticism is of people who claim he’s the best character because of his writing

the main character/side character debate is something we can do all day, but in my opinion he isn’t a main character because the progression of his story doesn’t hinge on the main antagonistic force of the show. if the apocalypse never ended, steve could go forth with his life and complete his arc on his own. i think he’s a well developed side character, but he isn’t tied into the central plotline of the show like some of our other characters; he’s mostly there to help our main characters. i’d argue that will, mike, and el are our main characters because of how prominent they are in supernatural plots. when mike and will aren’t there, their absence is directly stated as an issue and we still get an entire season of screen time for them even when they’re doing virtually nothing to advance the plot.

i see what you’re saying, and i was definitely being aggressive and as a mike main i definitely get the feeling of being judged for it at first. i think everyone has a right to criticize each other’s choices as long as it isn’t being done to target someone who isn’t actually doing anything wrong and isn’t being done to anyone’s faces. of course there’s nothing really wrong with enjoying steve as a character, but i will criticize his popularity based on the fan base he’s gathered which tends to be people who don’t acknowledge the deeper aspects of the show. im not judging any one specific person and im not steve fans are bad, it’s just a critique of popular opinion based on my own observations. nobody who would be hurt or pissed off at that is likely going to see it, seeing as i didn’t put any tags on it. my tone was definitely aggressive, but again, there is no real harm in the critique of a harmless opinion as long as im not going out of my way to hurt those people

like, that post way the equivalent of me bitching with my friends rather than listing an actual attack against those who enjoy steve. it’s human nature to judge, but it’s common decency to keep that judgement away from people who aren’t looking for it if what you’re critiquing is virtually harmless. i hope that makes sense, and if not i can try and reexplain it

So like I’m not a lesbian, much less an mspec lesbian or a male lesbian so idk how upset I’m allowed to be over the exclu scythe lesbian flag but I am upset lol

I’ll start with the scythe aspect of it. It just doesn’t look nice lol. It’s literally the most basic jpg of a scythe slapped over a color palette from the cover of the first book. Boring! I much prefer the scythegender and scythe lesbian flag you coined, bc… yk…. They were actually made by a fan of the book series! And they look better. Plus shi didn’t even spell Neal right in the tags!

Now onto the spicy discourse!

I don’t consider myself a radinclu, mainly because of certain syscoursey stuff and because people like proshippers will always try to worm their little ways into safe spaces. However, I do consider myself a supporter of all good-faith identities, and like… imo, mspec lesbians and male lesbians (unless they’re like. Literally just cis men calling themselves lesbians for the funnies) aren’t doing any harm??? Like literally, it’s JUST labels. Mspec lesbians are just people who choose to label their sexuality a bit differently, sometimes for simplicity’s sake, sometimes as an identity. Male lesbians are mostly transmasc or non-binary people who just don’t want to label their attraction as straight for one reason or another, from what I’ve gathered! And that’s completely valid! You made a really good post about this on your main, but like. Non-binary really isn’t just women-lite, you have to support ALL non-binary lesbians or you support none of them. You can be male-presenting and identify as a lesbian, because literally NO ONE other than chronically online people give a shit! I’ve heard the argument so many times that “male lesbians and mspec lesbians are ERASING the oppression that REAL lesbians face!” And like. Like I said before, most male lesbians are either transmasc or non-binary. Not cis men calling themselves lesbians for no reason. How is a non-binary person or a transmasc person identifying as a lesbian reading your oppression? Unless they pass as male VERY well as male, they’re still probably going to face the same oppression that lesbians face for being a non-cis man being attracted to women or people who aren’t strictly male. There are so many reasons someone can identify as both lesbian and male, and I think that’s completely valid. I may not personally understand it (on a personal level) but it’s not harming anyone, so it’s really none of my business!

I also scrolled through the OP of the exclu’s Twitter and they’ve retweeted really transmasc-negative posts and while I won’t get into it bc I know you’re not a system they have some absolutely horrible system takes so like. They’re just overall a shitty person! Shop from our fandom! Scythe is for everyone!

so today was the day !! 4NEMO was travelling abroad on tour and you were allowed to come with them, so as a surprise and a sort of ‘thank you’ gift, you decided to come to their concert

when xiao saw you in the crowd his heart actually melted he felt so happy on the inside, but he had to keep his cool and mysterious front for everyone else (bc yk, that’s sort of his brand)

tho, even he couldn’t hide the smile that crept on his face (the fans noticed it and oh my were the edits/fancams intriguing to say the least)

after the show you guys met up in a nearby café, he refused to talk abt how excited he was when he saw you

he felt so embarrassed but so uplifted at the same time bc literally the love of his life went to see him perform

eventually thanked you for coming to watch him :)) gave u a smooch on the forehead and a warming hug <3

he could not hold in his excitement (>﹏<) after constant begging and pleas you finally came to see him perform !! now he knows that restless nagging works to get him what he wants lol

when he sees you at more and more of the concerts his work ethic just shoots up significantly , he rlly wants to impress u ;)

he was practicing choreography the night before the concert so you got like the slightest glimpse at what was meant to happen on stage

but when you saw him actually perform he looked so defeated and exhausted :( you couldn’t help but feel sad that he’s worked himself that hard

he tried his best to get thru his exhaustion especially after he caught sight of you in the crowd <33 it was a lovely sentiment but he ended up passing out right after he got off stage

you got to take care of him at least and he’s never felt better !

when he eventually did get better (thanks to your generous nursing) he gives you feathery kisses on the crown of your head silently thanking the lords above for gifting you to him

nonetheless, he gave you a long cuddle session as an apology

It doesn't really matter how resilient a person is, when you've been told for so long that everyone you love is just tolerating you. That you mistreat them just by virtue of being yourself.

Damn that takes a toll.

So after one particularly rough night on patrol, and one too many fans calling him a horrible partner, saying that you're trapped with him, Bakugou finally rips a bit at the seams.

Can you imagine how he'd come home and find you standing around in the kitchen or reading at the table and just--

Just put his head on your shoulder, still covered in grit and sweat from work and not even looking you in the eyes when he says:

"I'm sorry."

And you know why. You've been watching the way he gets hesitant or flinches at himself. You know he's not as aloof and unfeeling as those assholes online say he is. They don't have a fucking clue. They don't know him like you do.

And clearly they don't love him like you do.

So you wind your arms around his shoulders and turn in his grip, take in how his eyes are red and tired and don't linger on you for very long.

And you take a page out of his book to set the record straight.

With his face in your hands you let him know he's a 'fucking idiot' for ever thinking that if you weren't happy you'd stick around. That they can say he's the biggest piece of shit walking but they get to see him laugh when he makes dinner too spicy and you're running like a chicken with it's head cut off for the milk. They don't know he insists on holding your hand when you cross a busy intersection and that he always makes time to pick up your favorite snack on his way home no matter how late it is and how many convenience stores he has to go to. That he curls around you like he's trying to crawl into your skin when he falls asleep first. That you know he always kisses you before he leaves on early patrols--when he thinks you aren't awake to feel it.

And you'll 'kick his fucking ass' if he ever tries to make himself something he's not. Ever tries to become something more palatable for the masses.

"Apology not accepted, dumbass."

Apology never necessary.

The bit about people saying he doesn’t love right hit so true because it’s like that’s what everyone (even your friends) would probably think. Those headlines that read “how could she be with the Dynamight”, “Does Dynamight pop off like this at home”, “Stuck with Dynamight.” Like he’s constantly under scrutiny from the media, and the sheer indication that he doesn’t treat you right rubs him the wrong way.

He doesn’t have to apologise for being himself because to you he is perfect. And it’s in that moment that he just knows you’re both meant to be.
