#4- Lean On Me
You pried open your eyes and squinted in the darkness. The other side of the bed was vacant; you knew it without rolling over. Newt’s presence had become so familiar to you that when he wasn’t there, it was as if part of your heart had gone missing.
You sat up, rubbing your face groggily. There was a light on somewhere in the house. You slid your feet into your slippers and padded toward the source, hugging your thin nightgown to your body. It had begun to get chilly, especially at night, and oftentimes Newt found you cuddled up in bed, shrouded by a multitude of blankets.
The suitcase was propped open on a table in the foyer. A dim light glowed from within.
Yawning, you stepped over the rim and descended into its depths. The creatures weren’t exactly aware of the passage of day and night in the suitcase, but most had seemed to settle once the sun had set in the outside world. A few of the nocturnal ones hooted and hummed as you entered.
“Newt?” you called sleepily, lighting a candle from the cabinet. “Are you awake?”
You turned a corner to his study, a small nook by the stairs crammed with bookshelves and creature care appliances. There he was, sleeping sprawled over his desk, stray papers from his latest endeavor strewn about, hair ruffled and mouth open slightly. You smiled at the sight of your husband. You’d given up urging him to go to bed months ago, realizing that he all too often tried to heed your words but became so swept up in his work that he lost track of time.
You came up behind him, sliding your hands over his shoulders. “My love,” you kissed the top of his head. “Won’t you come up to bed?”
He started awake, blinking sleep from his eyes. “(Y-Y/N)?” He had a line imprint on his cheek where he’d fallen asleep on the table. He looked at his papers in confusion and began gathering them together. “What time is it?”
You ran your hand down the length of his arm and slipped your fingers into his ink-stained ones, preventing him from touching his work. “Time to go to bed,” you whispered, lips brushing his ear.
He stopped and leaned into your touch as you ran your thumb over his knuckles. He trapped your fingers, brought them to his lips, and nodded.
You helped him to his feet and sneaked a hand around his torso as you led him up the stairs. Newt, of course, was wholly capable of climbing the stairs by himself, but you wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to close the physical distance between you two.
Newt didn’t seem to mind. You were the bolder one when it came to affection, but he always caught your touches and held you closer as if he could make them last forever. Often he would absentmindedly caress your arm or twirl a curl of your hair between his fingers. It was in the little things that you knew Newt showed the most care; sometimes a single touch from him said more than a thousand words.
You tugged him into the bedroom you shared and released your hold as you went to fold an extra quilt over the bed. Your tendency to hog the blankets on cooler nights left Newt searching for warmth, you knew, though it didn’t escape your thoughts that his lack of cover usually led him to snuggle closer to you. Perhaps that was part of your subconscious plan.
He stood on the other side of the bed, framed in candlelight. The fire shone around his hair just so, making it appear that he was crowned in a rubicund halo. He was unraveling his tie, his sluggish movements betraying how sleep-deprived he truly was.
You flattened the quilt and came to stand by him. “Allow me,” you said, taking the tie from his hands. Deftly, you undid the knot. You had made Newt’s tie for him countless times each day before he headed off to work to the point that you could do it with your eyes closed. You tugged it from his neck and tossed it to the dresser.
When you looked back up, Newt’s eyes were locked on you. When you first met, you found his inability to look you in the eye odd and yet a little endearing. As you two grew closer, he would hold your gaze for greater lengths of time, as if he had gotten lost in your eyes and was physically incapable of tearing himself away. Even now that you were married there was something vulnerable about it. It was like you were each seeing a hidden part of each other’s soul, like you were baring your hearts before each other and were unafraid of what it could expose.
Not breaking his gaze, you allowed your hands to trail down his chest, grasping the buttons at his vest. His heart was racing underneath your palms. Yours skipped a beat. You were melting under that look. Gently, you unattached each of the buttons and slid the vest off his shoulders, leaving him in an undershirt that was already popped open at the collar. On the undershirt you let yourself undo only the first three buttons; you knew if you went any farther your hands might never stop exploring every inch of his skin.
You pressed on his shoulders and eased him to sit on the bed. He reached up to hold your hand, but you knelt to untie his shoelaces instead. You set his shoes aside and he drew you back to your feet, slowly wrapping his arms around your waist.
“I don’t deserve you,” Newt mumbled, eyes flitting away and settling on your mouth.
You cupped his face in one hand and ran your fingers through his fluffy hair with the other. “The world doesn’t deserve you, my love.”
He closed his eyes and leaned into your hand. “But you deserve the world.”
Your heart seemed to liquefy in your chest, sending warmth trickling all over your body. You leaned forward to kiss his brow. When you pulled back, his eyes- half-lidded and aglow with the candlelight- were once again fixed on your lips. He pulled you closer. Softly, as if it demanded the utmost care in the world, he tilted his head up and pressed his lips to yours.
He kissed you like he couldn’t believe you were his, as if you would disappear from his arms at any moment. It was delicate and utterly sweet and ended far too soon.
“I love you,” he murmured against your mouth. His voice was shaky, and he was looking at you like you were a dream.
In reply, you kissed him again. You lowered yourself to sit on his lap and he scooted back, tugging you with him, your hips curved into his body. Your hands stroked his neck and once more found their way down his arms. He shivered under your touch. You smiled against his lips and moved the kiss deeper.
Newt leaned back and pulled you both onto the bed. You fell against his chest and dipped into the crook of his arm. Running the back of your fingers over his cheek, you whispered, “I love you too.”
Sleep was quickly claiming him, and you could feel its steady hold on you too. You kissed him once more, then rolled over and blew out the candle. You snuggled underneath the blankets, feeling Newt’s warm arm slip around your waist, his ankles entwining with yours.
You were entering a world of blissful dreams when you felt his soft lips on the crook of your shoulder. You cuddled closer to him, your back up against his chest, and smiled into the night.
“Good night, my love,” you said.
“Good night, my darling,” he said as he drifted off to sleep once again.

newt scamander x reader
fluff (making out)
cw: unedited, blood, a lil bit of ~suggestiveness~/(okay a lot a bit of suggestiveness i write like a romance novelist sometimes lol sorry not sorry), making out, newt is ripped and hot as hell
summary: newt gets injured and theseus knows the perfect person to kiss it better.
notes: thank you so much for the request love!!! i wasn’t sure exactly what you were looking for with this one so i just used my imagination so i do hope you like it. feel free to request something more if you don’t though :))
16+ please!!
“theseus, this is ridiculous, let go of me.”
it was a small cut, just a little one. a small mishap with alone of his creatures, that was all. such a tiny little ailment.
“it is bleeding profusely and goes all the way across your stomach, newt!” theseus exclaimed, pulling his brothers coat sleeve like a child dragging their parents through a candy store. “she’s very nice, you know that.”
oh, newt knew you were nice— that was the problem. you were so nice, so pretty, so incredibly everything that newt could hardly bare it. years and years of friendship with you and he could hardly even contain his joy at the sound of your laugh, at the mere sight of you. it made it hard to breathe, hard to think, hard to exist when all he could focus on was you.
“you’re working a case, theseus,” newt sighed, allowing his brother to pull him up the stairs to your apartment. “she’s probably reviewing files or something, it would be rude to interrupt her work.”
but the scamander brothers were already outside your door, and theseus was already knocking. before newt could brace himself for the wave of love sickness that would inevitably hit him the second he saw you, the door swung open and there you were; nice, pretty, perfect.
“hi newt, theseus,” you greeted, chest heaving (you may have ran across the apartment the second you’d heard their voices coming down the hall) “what can i— oh merlin’s beard.”
newt looked down, unsurprised to see the blood had seeped through his white shirt. he gave you a lopsided smile and you rolled your eyes, a pitiful attempt to avoid eye contact with the boyish man before you.
“come inside.”
theseus all but shoved newt inside, already straightening out his suit and brushing the left over floo powder off of his shirt. he looked up to you and his brother, unphased by the confused look on your faces.
“well, i best be off.”
you gawked at him. “your— your not going to stay?” you asked. he shook his head. “theseus! your brother is injured and you’re leaving?”
“we have a case!”
“it’s really okay,” newt said, bashfully, suddenly reminding you of the reason they were there.
scoffing, you turned back to newt, waving your friend off. “workaholic,” you murdered as you began searching for your emergency bandage kit.
and with that, theseus shut the door— but not before sending his brother a mischievous wink. newt felt a shiver down his spine.
sneaky bastard.
you finally found the small red box, pulling it open and rifling through it for a disinfectant and some gaws, as well as a mini suture kit.
glancing up at newt through your eyelashes, you hummed expectantly. “shirt off,” you ordered, some foreign sort of confidence surging through you.
newt swore all the brain cells left his mind. “pardon?” he chocked, suddenly not too concerned with his injuries.
“i can’t exactly fix you through the shirt. now c’mon, we don’t have all day,” you explained.
quickly, newt obeyed, shedding his baggy coat and undoing the bloodied buttons. very quickly, he felt exposed, but the bashful look on your face made him feel more smug than anything.
you had never seen newt shirtless before now, but my lord, did you wish the sight to be engraved in your mind till the day you died. you could see the viens that traveled up his tanned arms, and as shocked to see his biceps had been rather toned under that jacket all this time. his freckles spanned all down his chest and arms as well, dancing around the thin scars across him.
for a man so cute and clever, he was sure an enthralling sight to see.
clearing your throat, you finally looked down at the wound intently, relieved to see it didn’t look like too hard of a fix. with some shallow sutures and cleaning, he’d be better in no time.
“not too bad,” you murmured without thinking, entire body going cold at the implication. shit. the clever smile on newts face grew. “i— i meant the cut isn’t too bad, doesn’t look, y’know, infected.”
“good,” newt agreed, leaning back on his arms. his abdomen tensed at the movement and he hissed at the pain. “ouch.”
before you could look at him too closely, or think too much apparently, you knealt down infront of him. however, as he opened his legs to allow you space between them, you realized the predicament you’d put yourself in.
holy fucking shit.
you looked up hesitantly, feeling your heart race at the way newt looked down at you; nervous and kind, like he was just as surprised by your position as you were.
“this might sting a little,” you announced, trying to redirect his (and yours) attention back to the real reason you were on your knees.
carefully, you wiped the cotton pad across the cut, cleaning up the blood around the wound. newt hissed again, hands gripping the blanket laid across your couch. you had to will yourself to keep your eyes on the wound.
“almost done,” you reassured, finally looking up to see newts eyes screwed shut in pain. quickly, you dabbed at the far end of the wound, bringing your hands down quickly. “all done.”
newt sighed in relief, swallowing roughly. he glanced down to his stomach, feeling his head buzz as you looked back up at him. “whatcha thinking, doc?” he teased.
you could’ve died at the irony. you could not tell him what you were thinking right now.
“well, it’ll only need a few stitches at the edges there on the left, but it should be fine otherwise. just some bandages and you’ll be good,” you answered.
“no magic?” he asked.
“sadly, my regulations to do these sorts of healing charms only spans as far as britain,” you replied. “i’m working on getting the papers here in the states, but for now, just my handy work.”
newt smiled, another grin which made you weak in the knees. “your handy work is quite good.”
you ignored the heat in your face from the praise as you began you sutures. you felt newt shiver under your hands as they fluttered across his stomach, tracing the stitches and looking for any imperfections. finally satisfied with the stitching, you taped some bandages across them, and stood up once you were done. three easy steps, and nothing went wrong—
as you took a step back, you stumbled over the edge of your rug, fumbling backwards as you tried to regain your balance. before you realized what had happened, you felt newts hands on the back of your thighs, pulling you forward.
and forward was onto his lap.
you had spoken too soon.
you caught yourself with a tight grip on his bare shoulders, the skin soft and hot under your hands. your face was barely an inch from his, and your eyes met his in a brief moment of panic.
“s-sorry, i just didn’t want you to hit your head on the coffee table,” newt whispered, eyes darting form your eyes to your lips and back again nervously. he seemed very regretful of his action at first, but he didn’t budge to move you off of him, hands gripping the flesh around your hips.
“t-thank you,” you stammered, gathering all your strength not to squirm in his arms, your heart beating faster than your blood could pump.
newts eyes found yours again, thumbs making small circles in your hip bone. “have i ever told you that you’re very pretty?” the low rasp of his voice could’ve made you faint on any ordinary day, but given that you were practically straddling him, nothing could’ve made you more lightheaded. “especially up so close.”
“newt,” you whispered.
“what, love?”
“please kiss me.”
newt closed the gap without a second thought, kissing you gently. his lips were soft, but needy, pulling away and coming back for more over and over and over again. his hands traveled from your hips all the way up to your head, resting on your jaw. you moved your hands up his neck, playing with the curls on the nape.
you whined as he pulled away entirely, pulling him impossibly closer to yourself. “why’d you stop?”
“isn’t there a rule about strenuous activities post surgery?” he teased, laughing as he pressed another kiss to your lips briefly; he had waited too long to do this and he didn’t wanna stop now. “making out seems pretty strenuous to me.”
“i’ll kiss it better.”

look at him omg
summary: you pull an all-nighter to help newt with his book. he just so happens to think you look very cute while struggling to stay awake for him.
words: idk not a lot
warnings: very old blurb from when fbawtft first came out omg. just fluff tho. minors dni tho BACK I SAY!!!
You loved Newt's creatures almost more than you loved Newt himself. You loved working on his book with him, you loved taking care of the creatures. But sometimes life caught up to you, and you suddenly realized you hadn't slept in the last 24 hours. It was 11 PM, the last time you had actually slept was 24 hours ago when you woke up in the middle of the night to Frank carrying on in his biome.
You smiled when you remembered how Newt tried to pull you back into bed when you went to see if Frank was okay. Then you told him what you heard and he was out the door before you stood up. You looked back up at Pickett and scribbled some more in your notebook. Pickett tried to run off the table, but you put your hand in front of him to stop him.
"Now, Pickett. I told you he'd only be a moment," You scolded Pickett and put him back on the table. He stuck his tiny tongue out at you. You did the same. You bowed your head to sketch some more, and could feel yourself slowly drifting. You blinked prufsely, and tried to stay awake, to no avail. You closed your eyes in defeat and gradually slipped into a light slumber. You could feel two warm hands begin to massage your shoulders whilst you were half awake.
"Darling?" Newt's voice echoed in your mind. "Darling, are you okay?" Your head flew up, your head now right next to Newt's as he continued to massage your neck and back. He chuckled and kissed your neck gently.
"Let's go to bed, love," He suggested as he squeezed your chest and bit your ear. You smiled and moaned quietly.
"I would love that," You whispered in his ear. Pickett screeched, which made you remember how tired you were. "But I haven't slept in legitimately 24 hours," He kissed your neck once more before he gathered your things in his arms. You stood up from the bench and carried Pickett to his tree home. Newt waited for you with his arm stretched out, a signal for you to take his hand. You did so, and he lead you to the cottage the two of you shared. You went straight into the bedroom, and Newt, however, stacked your things neatly on the kitchen table and changed into more comfortable clothes before he joined you in bed.
"I love you, Y/N," He whispered as he brushed a strand of hair out of your face with his middle finger.
"I love you too," You replied. You scooted closer to him and placed a gentle kiss on his nose. Before you could pull away, he rested his hand on the back of your head and pulled you in for a kiss.
"As much as I would love to stay up kiss you, darling, you must get to sleep. Now, I love you more than anything-" He was cut off by your snoring. He smiled and kissed your forehead.
"I love you too," You replied in your sleep. He blushed and wrapped his arms around you.
"Sweet dreams, my sleepless love,"

Tumblr media
It was usually in conditions like these, when the streets of London were slick with cool wet, and the biting cold spread mist from hot mouths filled the air, that made a time meant for cheer and love, one of desolate solitude for those less fortunate. Whatever the circumstances may be, it is in these times Newt Scamander often found himself alone. Though, if you were to ask him yourself he would deny the accusation and snarkily ask if one could ever be truly alone when surrounded by magnificent creatures. Despite the best efforts of his brother, who cared for him most earnestly, Newt hadn’t spent the holidays with him in years.
He had his reasons to be sure. Back when Theseus was engaged with his childhood friend Leta, there was no doubt an awkwardness. The younger Scamander brother was in love with the Lestrange girl. To see his brother have what he had longed for since he first met her put a strain on his heart. Newt was not bold in any sense of the word. Being forward with a woman never came easy to him. When he’d lost the chance to win Leta’s heart he swore that when he found himself enamored by another woman he would make it clear to her his affections.     In came Tina Goldstein, an American auror who he found himself entangled with on a trip overseas. He felt something for her—a kind of attraction that was different from the one he felt for Leta, but an attraction nonetheless. Tina was tall and beautiful and treated him with more respect than anyone ever had. But even that effort fell short. Tina had become more dedicated to her work and her sister. There was no room for him in her life at the moment. The two drifted apart succeeding the events of Grindelwald's rally in Paris. He returned to London, and she to her own affairs.     That had been nearly three years ago. Newt did well on his own, he felt. His creatures keep him busy enough. Getting through the day was easy. The nights were the hardest. At night there wasn't anything busying his mind from thinking of you.     Newt started to believe he was cursed to always fall in love with women he couldn't have. Whoever it was must have been especially cruel to make him fall for his brother’s girlfriends. That could be the only explanation. Otherwise,  he was just a sick, perverted man who desperately needed therapy. Little did he know two things can be true.    It wasn’t as though it were intentional. When it came to Leta, he had loved her first. Theseus just happened to get her. You, however, was something he did not expect. He was acquainted with you, only knowing and conversing with you when Leta was involved, considering you were her friend. It wasn't until she died that he got to know you better. During that time, Newt stayed with his brother and swore to stay by his side and help him and the ministry in capturing Grindelwald. Theseus grieved, and Newt was there to care for him, and so were you.     You would come by with food and insist on helping clean the apartment. The gesture was kind, especially when you were going through your own grief. Newt wondered if you used your kindness and instinct to help others as a way to distract yourself from the pain you truly felt. He was able to prove his theory right after many nights alone, drinking gin and fire whiskey, when he got to know you more intimately.     Theseus never knew, but in those first few months he spent grieving, Newt had grown rather fond of you. You were funny, kind, a great cook, and you listened to him, something no one else really did. The day he discovered your relationship with his brother he was disappointed, to say the least. Once again, Theseus had managed to take someone else he cared about. Newt often wondered how different things would have been if he had kissed you that night as you so desperately wanted him to. The same night when you had drank one too many gin and tonics and found the Scamander family album hidden in Theseus’s bookshelf. That night you somehow wound up on top of his lap, flipping through embarrassing baby pictures and evidence of his pubescent awkwardness. You were too drunk to notice how tense he was underneath you, or how with every shift of movement, or every laugh you chuckled, your ass pressed against his crotch.     When you came across a picture of Newt his mother had taken of him on the first day working at the Ministry when he was sixteen, you gushed over how ‘adorable’ he looked. Newt blushed. Then you said something he didn't expect.     “I see what Leta meant. You were always cute.”     Newt didn't know what to say. You positioned your head on his shoulder to look up at him. Newt was never good at eye contact, but he found it hard to tear his eyes away from yours.     “You have pretty eyes,” you slurred suddenly with a smile stretched across your lips. He could smell the alcohol on your breath your faces were so close.     “So do you,” he said, surprising himself with his own brazenness. It was true. You had two pretty (e/c) eyes like none he’d ever seen, even when they fluttered and stared blankly up at him in an intoxicated daze. But it was only with the help of the three glasses of gin he had earlier that helped him say it aloud.     Your smile grew wider. Your hand went to cup his left cheek. “I never understood Leta,” you mumbled. “How could anyone look past you?”     He’d wanted it so bad. To feel your lips against his would be his greatest reward after all he’d been through, after all his shortcomings. If he were a lesser man he would have taken advantage of your drunkenness. But you could barely sit up on your own, and he couldn’t tell how long it would be before you lost consciousness and fell asleep on the couch as you had done several times before.     “Kiss me, Newt,” you asked. “Please.” It was the first sentence you hadn't slurred since the gin entered your bloodstream. In a moment of weakness, his hand caressed your cheek. His thumb swiped over your bottom lip and he heard your breath hitch in your throat.     You were so beautiful and there you were, begging him to kiss you. Begging for something more by the way you pressed your body into him and looked desperately at his lips through half-lidded eyes. And maybe if he had four gin and tonics instead of three he would have given you what you wanted. But he was more sober than you and he respected you far too much to take advantage of you in your current state. What he had to do afterward took all his restraint.     The next day you greeted him in the kitchen with the same kind smile you always gave him as you prepared breakfast. The matter was never brought up again and Newt assumed you simply didn't remember. He saw no point in bringing it up himself. Before he knew it, it was too late. Theseus had set his eyes on you and wasted no time claiming you as his. Newt could not touch you, no matter how badly he wanted to.     And so, once again, Newt found himself in love with his brother’s girl. Constantly keeping her on his mind, constantly yearning for her, but always stepping back. He was still close to you, which only made it harder.     For the past year, he’s kept the secret of that night. But that wouldn't stop him from thinking of it, and all that could have been, just as he was doing now, lying in his bed with his hand wrapped around his cock. If only he could have you with him now and feel your skin on his, taste the salt of your sweat, and feel the heat of your body. He could only imagine. But even in his imagination he was the happiest man on earth. Theseus must have felt like God.     Unbeknownst to him, he would get a taste of that feeling the very next day. In the morning when he woke up, he found an owl waiting for him with a letter. It was an invitation, from you no less, to join you and Theseus for a Christmas dinner later that evening. In truth, Newt had been so busy tending to his creatures the past week he had forgotten how close Christmas was approaching, let alone that it was Christmas Day.     The thought of spending an evening with you was enticing. It was Theseus’s presence that made him second guess. He loved his brother, that was no question. He probably loved his brother more than anyone else in the world, which is why he could sit silently as he continuously watched him have everything he ever wanted with no protest. That didn't mean it was easy. It was hard to see you with him, even harder than when he had to endure Leta with him. At least then he had Tina as a distraction. Now there was only you and he could see no one else better than you.     Had it been Theseus who sent the letter he wouldn't have agreed to stop by. He might not have even replied. But since it was you, and only because it was you, he sent an owl confirming his arrival.     On the other side of things, you were ecstatic. It had been some time since you'd seen Newt and you considered him one of your closest friends. You knew Theseus would love having his little brother visit for Christmas and felt it would be the perfect present for him.     You had told Newt to come a couple of hours earlier than when you would be expecting Theseus. When you opened the door you greeted him with a bright, toothy smile and open arms. Newt hugged you back awkwardly and stepped inside.     “Everything is cooking in the oven now,” you said. “I’m just finishing up the pie for dessert. Come, have a drink in the kitchen.”     Newt followed behind you. You looked adorable in the tacky red and green Christmas sweater you wore over your long white dress. You made him a drink and started on your creme pie.     “It’s so good to see you, Newt,” you told him. “I was afraid you couldn’t make it. I know how busy your creatures keep you.”     “It’s good to see you too,” he replied. “Bunty insisted she stay and help while I am away. She claimed she had no other plans.”     You pouted your lips. “That’s awful!” You said. “You should have told me! I would have gladly invited Bunty over if I knew. No one should be alone on Christmas.”     Newt smiled softly. There you go again, always thinking of others. As the two of you sat in the kitchen you caught each other up on your lives. Things were going great for you, Newt discovered. You had recently gotten a promotion and received a medal for your efforts spying abroad for your department and gathering intel on Grindelwald and his acolytes.    Newt told you about his own travels abroad, searching for and rescuing creatures whenever he could while doing his own work for Dumbledore to support the cause. He told you stories of the places he’d been and the creatures he’d seen, even promising to let you visit his home to see them for yourself. “They’d love you,” he said.     Before he knew it, the two of you were sharing a glass of wine on the couch while the food kept warm. Then you shared another, and another, and another while you both waited for Theseus to return.     “He works later these days,” you tell Newt. “There’ve been days where he doesn't come home at all. Just stays up there, drooling over papers in his office. I worry about him sometimes.”     “That’s my brother,” he says. “Always working harder than anyone else. Always having something to prove. In some ways I’m jealous.”     You chuckled. “Jealous? How so?”     “He’s always so,” Newt paused, searching his brain for the right word. “Dedicated. Determined. He sets his mind on something and won't stop until he does it. He’s always been like that.”     You turned to face him next to you on the couch, sitting on your legs and propping your elbow on the back of the couch to lean your head against your hand. You peer at him quizzically. “But you’re like that too.”     Newt scoffed. “No I’m not,” he chuckled as he took a sip of his wine.     “Yes, you are!” You insist. “You’re very determined and dedicated to your animals. You have done things many others are too afraid to do; all to protect the things you love. Even Theseus admits you are much better suited to be an auror than he is.”     Newt raised a curious brow, a coy smile on his face. “Really?”     You nod. “He’s very amazed by you—admires you, even. As do I. You’re very brave, Newt. No one is more determined or dedicated than you.”     “There is one person,” Newt muttered.      “Who?” You asked, genuinely curious about his answer, prepared to playfully berate him for his humbleness.     “Theseus.”     “Well, he doesn't seem to think so,” you say.     “But he is,” Newt quipped, whipping his head to look you in the eye. The energy in the room shifted, and though both your brains were fuzzy from wine, you could tell the moment had gone from playful to serious.     “He is,” he continued. “He wanted to become head boy and he did. He strived to be the best auror at the ministry and he is. He wanted Leta and he got her, and when he wanted you, he got you.”     You were silent as you listened, unsure of where exactly Newt was going with his ramblings.     “I could never do that,” he admitted. “If I could, you would be with me now, not him.”     Now it was the wine talking. You were surprised. Newt’s face was red, but at this point, it wasn't clear if it was because he was embarrassed, frustrated, or tipsy.     “What do you mean, Newt?” You asked, your voice soft and sweet. His expression softened, and he looked at you in such a way your heart fluttered in your chest.     “You are so beautiful,” he proclaimed, making your face burn hotter than it already was. “I should have told you that a long time ago. If I were as forthright as Theseus I would have told you I loved you the night we almost kissed a year ago on this couch.”     Newt chuckled at your stunned expression, unable to say a word. “You don’t remember, but you were beautiful then too. You sat right here in my lap and you held my face in your hand and begged me to kiss you. I would have if you weren’t intoxicated. I wanted to talk to you about it the next day but you had already forgotten—”     “I didn't forget,” you spoke finally. Now it was Newt’s turn to be surprised.     “What?”     You put your wine glass down on the coffee table and scooted closer to Newt on the couch. Your knees touched his thigh, but neither of you moved.     “I didn't forget,” you repeat, clearer this time. “We were drinking while Theseus was asleep in his room one night. I had found your family album and we looked at it together when I asked you to kiss me.”     Newt frowned. “If you remember then why didn't you say anything?”     “I was embarrassed,” you reveal. “When you didn't kiss me I thought that I made a fool of myself. That you rejected me. When you didn't say anything afterwards I figured that was it. That you just wanted to forget and stay as friends.”     Newt couldn't believe his ears. All this time you had remembered that night and thought he held no feelings for you. He was spiraling in his head, you could tell by the way he distantly stared into his glass of wine.     “Newt?” You called out to him, taking his glass and replacing it with your hand.     “This is what I mean,” he said finally. “I wasn't determined. If I were like Theseus I would have talked to you regardless of whether or not I thought you remembered. I would have told you how wonderful it felt holding you in my arms and how desperately I wanted to press my lips against yours and taste you on my tongue. I would have told you how much I love you.”     Your stomach turned excitedly at Newt’s words. You squeezed his hand tightly. “Newt...”     He stopped, realizing what he just said. “I...I’m sorry,” he apologized. “I don’t know why I’m saying these things.”     “That would be the veritaserum in the wine,” said a deep voice behind him.     Newt turned around and found his brother, Theseus, standing under the archway to the foyer.     “Theseus,” He stammered and quickly stood to his feet.     “No need to get up, brother,” he said calmly. “It wasn’t as if I didn’t know.”     On the couch, you held up the wine bottle and inspected it. “How did veritaserum get into the wine?”     “I drugged it,” Theseus said simply as he walked past Newt and took a seat across from the couch in an armchair.     “Why the hell would you do that?” You asked Theseus angrily.     “Because this morning you said Newt accepted your invitation to dinner. Because I knew the real reason why Newt hasn't visited me in months is that he feels guilty for loving you knowing you’re with me,” he explained. “And I didn't want to have a Christmas dinner with a brother who resents me and sulks across the table pining for you. So, I put veritaserum in the wine I knew you wanted to drink tonight and left the two of you alone, hoping my baby brother would finally confess his feelings. And he did! Now we all know.”     You shot up from your seat and glared at Theseus. “This is cruel Theseus. You had no right!”     “I will admit it was slightly unethical, but I don’t see the harm in it. Aren’t you glad that Newt confessed his feelings?”     “Yes,” you answered instantly, though, of course, not of your own free will.     Theseus then turned to Newt. “And don't you feel better having finally told her?”     “Yes,” Newt admitted.    Theseus smiled. “Good! Now everything’s better.”     “You aren't upset?” Asked Newt.     Theseus looked at him as though he were confused. “Why would I be upset?”     “You’re not upset that I’m in love with your girlfriend?”     Theseus pursed his lips in thought before shifting his eyes to the half-empty bottle of wine. Standing to his feet, he walked towards the coffee table and grabbed the bottle by the neck. He took a swing of the truth-spiked wine and put it back down.     “Why don’t you ask me again.” He said.     “You’re not upset that I love y/n?” Newt once again asked.     Theseus smiled almost tenderly at his brother. “No.”     The older brother walked back to his chair and sat down, leaving you and Newt stupefied. “I do, however, wonder how you feel, darling.” He said, now turning his attention to you.     You furrowed your brows. “Me?”     “Do you love Newt back?” Asked Theseus.     Newt’s eyes fell on you. Your mouth opened and took a breath in preparation of your answer, but it closed as soon as it happened. Your glare on Theseus sharpened.     “What are you playing at, Theseus?”     “Don’t try fighting it,” he said. “You won't be able to lie so just answer. Do you love him?”     Your eyes flickered over and connected with Newt’s, who was looking at you expectingly. Your eyes softened and the tenseness in your shoulders fell away.     “Yes,” you whispered.     Newt couldn't believe his ears. Everything happening at this moment felt surreal. Just a few minutes ago he thought he had embarrassed himself once again, having confessed his feelings to his brother’s girlfriend right in front of him. He was prepared to be punched and thrown out and for his brother to hate him for the rest of his life. But instead of being angry, Theseus was encouraging him. He encouraged you and finally, he got to hear you say words he’d only dreamt of you saying. You loved him. Oddly enough, despite how it came about, Newt couldn't be happier.     “Kiss her.”     Newt was pulled from his thoughts and his shared gaze with you. You both turned and looked at Theseus who sat cooly in the armchair.     “Didn’t you hear what she said?” He asked. “She loves you! Stop standing there like an idiot and kiss her!”     “Theseus—” you began to speak, but Theseus stopped you.     “It’s okay, love,” he assured you with his gentlest voice. “Let him kiss you.”     The energy in the room for the second time that night, all because of Theseus, who ironically was the calmest person in the room. But there was something about the aura permeating from him that domineered over everyone else. His gaze burned into them as he stared, waiting for Newt to do as he commanded.     Every part of him wanted to turn around and walk out the front door and never speak of this again. He would go home and lay in his bed and do his best to fall asleep and forget everything that happened here tonight. Every part except the one that wanted to turn to his side, take you in his arms, and kiss you the way he should have that night. It was that part of him that won over all his better judgments.    In an instant, Newt’s lips were on yours. He held your face in his hands and pressed his body flat against yours. You were taken aback. You’d even yelped when his lips first touched yours. It was a while before your body finally relaxed and you closed your eyes, leaning into the kiss. Your lips began to move with his and he felt your hands lightly grip the sides of his waist, still unsure.     Theseus leaned back in his chair and said nothing as he watched. Newt’s tongue darted from between his lips and licked a stripe over your own. Your mouth opened for him willingly and he wasted no time exploring your mouth. He moaned at the taste of you. The feeling of your tongue swirling around his made his cock twitch in his pants. You could feel it against your thigh and your breath hitched in your throat.     “Don’t stop,” ordered Theseus with his hand over his pants, palming at the growing hardness straining against the fabric.    Newt kept his mouth on yours, only moving his grip around your face down to your hips. Your hands fisted the fabric of his shirt and you pressed your body into him, yearning to be closer. Newt stumbled back until the backs of his legs hit the couch and he broke away from the kiss to sit down. He spread his legs outwards and pulled you down onto his lap. You straddled his waist and his hips bucked upwards, longing to connect. A soft moan fell from your lips and he swore hadn't heard a more beautiful sound. Soon lips were back on yours.     “Tell her how pretty she is, Newt,” Theseus instructed.     Newt pulled from your feverish kiss and pushed your hair from around your face. “You’re so beautiful, y/n,” he said. You looked down at him through half-lidded eyes dilated with lust. Your lips twitched into a smile as you began salaciously grinding your hips against him, feeling the bulge of his dick against your slick heat. Newt hissed and watched you from below, moving his hips along with you, admiring your form hovering above him as you pulled your sweater over your head and threw it on the floor.     “Show him just how beautiful you are, sweetheart,” Theseus commanded. His voice was low and husky. He watched the two of you closely, palming his own arousal.     It was of no concern to the two of you, however. Newt was so encompassed by you he could barely pay any mind to his brother watching across the room. Of course, there were thoughts screaming in the back of his head telling him how fucked this whole situation was, but they were nothing more than muted whispers compared to you rubbing against his cock.     Just as Theseus commanded you showed Newt how beautiful you were when you took a hand and pulled down one of the straps to your white dress and freed your arm, repeating the same to the other. Taking his hands from your waist you brought them to your chest and helped him pull your dress down around your waist, revealing your breasts.     You felt Newt’s cock jump at the sight of you. He could only stare slack-jawed as you placed his hands over your beasts and guided him in pressing them against each other in a continuous circular motion while you rubbed your clothed clit against him. Your soft pants filled his ears as his low grunts filled yours.     “Newt...” His name fell breathlessly from your lips.     He had pumped his cock to the thought of you moaning his name many times before, but it barely held a candle to what it felt like to hear the real thing. Your name fell from his lips just as easily and he once again captured your lips in a heated kiss while he massaged your breasts.     Across the room, Theseus had his hand wrapped around his cock, slowly sliding it up and down as he watched his girlfriend shamelessly hump his little brother. You were the sexiest thing he’d ever seen. The way your hips moved against Newt could rival even the best of strippers. Your pretty moans filled his ears and he couldn’t help but reminisce about the many times he'd made those same sounds come out of you. To hear it in person is a gift. To feel your lips was a blessing. To feel your tight cunt wrapped around his cock was the best thing a man could ever feel. There is no greater present than fucking you, and Newt didn’t even realize that Theseus had just given his brother the best Christmas gift a man could ask for.     “Tell her what you’re thinking, Newt,” Theseus breathed.     Newt licked his lips. He did his best to gather his thoughts which were wall focused on you.     “Go on,” you said through shaky breaths. “Tell me.”     Newt moaned and pressed a trail of kisses on your bare shoulder and neck. “I’m thinking about how amazing you are,” he grunted out. “I’m thinking about how long I’ve wanted you and how good it feels to finally have you.”      You loved hearing Newt praise you. You loved the feeling of his hands and lips on your hot skin.  “Keep going,” you urged, moving your hands up his chest to unbutton his shirt.     “I think you’re perfect. I think that Theseus doesn't realize how lucky he is to have you,” he said boldly, piquing both your and Theseus’s interest. “You should have been mine. I would take good care of you—f-fuck!”     You had reached the top of his pants and unbuckled his belt, unbuttoning his pants and pulling out his hardened length. He wasn’t bigger than Theseus, but he certainly was thicker. Your hand slid up and down his shaft, only stopping to collect the precum leaking from his tip on your finger to put them in your mouth. He watched in awe as you licked and sucked your fingers clean.     “God, I want you,” he growled in your ear as your hand reached for his cock. “I want to be inside you. I want to feel you,” he said through labored breaths.     “Give him what he wants, love” Theseus spoke up. “Let him feel you.”      You sat up on your knees and hovered over his hips. Pulling your panties to the side with one hand you used the other to guide Newt’s member to your center. Both your breaths caught in your throats when he entered, stretching you open with his thick cock. Feeling you around him was unlike anything he could ever dream or hope. You were slick with arousal and he easily slid in and out of you, filling you up in all the right places. Your moans filled the room as Newt sucked on the supple skin of your neck. His hands and fingernails dug into your soft skin as he held you close and it felt as though the two of you were the only ones in the room.     Newt’s name sweetly slipped past your lips. Yours flittered through the air from his own. His hips rolled into yours with a precision you had no idea he was capable of. If he’d allowed it, the two of you would have lost yourselves in each other, forgetting the third presence in the room. But that wasn't going to happen.     Standing from his seat, Theses moved towards the couple and took a seat next to them on the couch, his hand still wrapped around his dick. “Does it feel good, my love?” He asked you.     “Yes,” you breathed.     “Does my little brother make you feel good? Do you love the way his cock stretches your tight little hole?”     You moaned at his dirty words, lulling your head back as Newt's lips wrapped around your nipple. “Y-yes,” you stammered, your hips rocking faster against Newts. “I love it. I love the way he feels inside me.”     “I know you do,” Theseus hummed, his breaths hastening. “You want him to make you cum don’t you, baby?”     You nodded excitedly and Theseus smirked.     “Newt, help her cum,” he said. “She likes it when you speak to her. It turns her on hearing all the dirty things you’re going to do to her.”     “Is that true?” Newt asked you once he pulled his lips from your pert nipples. “You want to hear all the things I want to do to you? Like how I’m gonna fuck your sweet cunt until you’re shaking a quivering under me? How...How I’m gonna fill you up so full with my cum you’ll end up with twins!”     He and Theseus laughed.     “See,” Theseus chuckled as he lifted the fabric of your skirt to reveal the sight of Newt’s cock pumping in and out of you. “She likes it! Look, she’s so wet your cock is soaked!”     Newt looked down and marveled at how wet you were. You took him so well and his cock disappeared inside you with ease. Newt held the skirts of your dress up so he could watch—so they could both watch.     Theseus’s hand rubbed the inside of your thigh. “Do you want me to touch you too, baby?” He asked politely.     You opened your eyes to look at your handsome boyfriend. He had long since undone his tie and unbuttoned his own shirt. His large cock was being tugged by his right hand and you nearly drooled at the sight of it, suddenly missing the feeling of having it shoved down your throat. You loved it when Theseus touched you. His hands were always precise, knowing exactly where to pinch, caress, and stroke. Like how he was rubbing your thigh right now, knowing how sensitive the skin on that area was for you. Your eyes connected and you ached seeing how dark his once baby-blue eyes had become.     “Yes,” you nodded.     Theseus wasted no time pressing his fingers on your aching clit. He rubbed your most sensitive part while his hand teased his own cock. Between his fingers and Newt’s dick plunging deep inside you, your body buzzed with pleasure. The air in the room grew hot and sticky and a symphony of soft moans, grunts, and pants melded with the sound of skin slapping against skin and the slick wetness of your dripping cunt. You could feel the knot in your stomach tightening and your eyes shut, desperately chasing that feeling.     “Are you close, darling?” Newt asked once he felt you tighten around him.     “Y-yes!”     Theseus’s fingers rubbed faster to help you get there. “Watch her, Newt,” he urged. “When she comes, it’s the most beautiful thing you’ll ever see.”     Newts darkened hazel eyes trained on you. His grip around the dress wrapped around your waist tightened and her wrapped it around his arm and held your hips steady. His hips snapped upwards, changing pace. You bounced on his cock, your moans growing louder and louder.     “Cum for me, please,” Newt begged, now reaching his own release. “Let me see it. I want to see it. Show me, my love. Show me how beautiful you are when you cum. Please show me.”     He pressed open-mouthed kisses on your chest and neck, his eyes never leaving your face. Theseus’s breaths quickened as well, his pace on his cock matching the pace of your hips rising and sinking on Newt’s member. One of your hands wrapped around the base of Newt’s neck, taking a fist full of his hair. The other grabbed Theseus’s wrist and held his hand in place over your clit. A few more pumps and several flicks was all it took for your body to seize up, tightening around Newt's cock as your whole body trembled. Your moans caught in your throat, struggling to escape. The knot inside your stomach had broke and you came harder than you ever had in your life.     Newt came not long after you, sputtering your name as he did so and holding your hips down, burying his dick deeper inside you and making sure every drop of his cum spilled inside. “F-fuck,” he choked out.     Theseus had cum too, clear, white ribbons of his seed spilled into his hand and onto his abs. He wiped up what had spilled with two fingers and held it up to your lips. You were still dizzy from your orgasm, but it didn't stop you from obediently opening your mouth to suck Theseus’s cum from his fingers. Newt watched as you did this. Your skilled tongue licked and wrapped around Theseus’s long fingers promiscuously, ensuring you cleaned up every last drop.  It was enough to get him hard and twitching inside you again.     “That’s a good girl,” praised Theseus with a smile on his lips. “Isn’t she a good girl, Newt?”     “The best,” Newt agreed.     Theseus pulled his fingers from your mouth and replaced them with his tongue by reaching up and pulling you into a deep kiss. It was slow and purposeful, as if he were trying to show off in front of Newt who had no choice but to watch uncomfortably as your tongues swirled passionately in each other’s mouths, earning your soft whimpers. Inside, he hated how much it turned him on.     As you both pulled away, you captured Theseus’s bottom lip between your teeth and playfully tugged it away before letting go. Theseus’s hand quickly flew to tightly wrap around your neck, keeping your eyes trained on him. He smirked. “Look at you, darling. Still asking for more. Aren't you tired?”     Your hand reached down to grip his cock as an answer, making him laugh. His grip around your neck tightened.     “What? Was my brother’s cock not enough for you? You need to have mine as well? Or perhaps you want us both at the same time. Is that it? You need me and my brother to fuck you senseless like the greedy little cock whore you are?”     You clenched at the thought of having both Scamander brothers filling you up at once. Newt felt it and your increasing arousal started to drip down his balls.     “I think she does,” said Newt. “Will that satisfy you, my love? If Theseus and I fucked you within an inch of your life and pumped your selfish cunt full of cum? Tell us you want it.”     You’d never seen this side of Newt. You didn't even think he was capable of saying such filthy things. He was always so sweet and temperate, being shyer than demiguise. But here he was, spurring you on with his debaucherous words. It only made you want him more.     “I want it,” you say and salaciously grind your hips into Newt, making him hiss due to how sensitive he still was.     “Beg,” Theseus demanded. “Tell us how badly you want it.”     Your cheeks burned red hot from embarrassment. Theseus smirked mischievously because he loved watching you squirm. You always begged so nicely for him with your pouty lips and round doe eyes. His little princess. He only wanted Newt to see and appreciate it too.     “Please,” you begged shamelessly. “I want to feel you both inside me. I need to feel it. I want it so bad. I want to make you both feel good.”    “You want to make us feel good?” Theseus repeated. “Such a sweet little girl you are, wanting to please us. But we all know your secret.”     Theseus turned to Newt. “Should we give her what she wants?” He asked.     Newt looked up at your pleading eyes, so sweet and innocent despite them begging for him to fuck you. How could he ever deny you?     “Yes,” he said finally. With that, Theseus picked you up with ease and carried you upstairs to the bedroom. Newt followed behind and once Theseus placed you on the bed he began fully stripping himself of his clothes. Newt followed his brother’s actions, closing the door behind him and peeling off his shirt and pants. You watched them under the candlelight, admiring the two beautiful brothers and their different bodies.     You’d seen Theseus naked a hundred times before but it never ceased to excite you. He was large in every sense of the word. He was tall and had a wide, muscular chest with strong arms and thighs to match. Newt’s body was new and different. Newt was tall as well, only a couple inches shorter than his older brother. Surprisingly, Newt was more muscular and lean. His abs were more pronounced and taut in comparison. Both brothers were freckled, the younger of the two having more of them with accompanying scars. They were beautiful. Having two gorgeous men naked in front of you made you feel nervous and self-conscious. Without realizing it, you had pulled your dress up to cover your body. But Theseus was having none of that.     He crawled over to you on the bed, moving your hands and pulling your dress back down to your waist. Newt sat on the bed as well and pulled the dress down the rest of the way, discarding it on the floor. Theseus trailed kisses up your stomach, chest, neck, and face until he reached your lips. He kissed you passionately and tenderly, reaching for your right hand to intertwine his fingers with yours while Newt peppered soft kisses up your legs and thighs. Their attempt at relaxing you and distracting you from your thoughts worked, and you melded with them both.     “Theseus...” you whispered against his lips because you knew how much he liked hearing it. He shushed you, pecking the corners of your lips.     “Just relax, darling,” he muttered. His hand left yours to grab your thigh, spreading your legs apart.     Newt’s kisses lingered on your inner thigh, nipping, sucking, and biting the sensitive flesh. You trembled under their touch, not sure what to expect next. Theseus hovered over you on your right, covering you with kisses and massaging your breasts while Newt neared dangerously close to your core.     “Such a sweet girl,” Theseus said between kisses.     “I wonder if she tastes just as sweet,” said Newt.     “She does,” Theseus confirmed. “But you’ll just have to taste for yourself.”     The sudden feeling of Newt’s warm tongue licking a licentious stripe along your heat made you gasp. He kissed and sucked on your lower lips, occasionally darting his tongue in and out of your entrance. He licked up and down your dripping cunt before finally swirling his tongue around your clit. Your hips bucked and twitched as he drew figure-eights with his tongue over your sensitive bud. Theseus held your right leg while Newt held down your left, ensuring you kept your legs open for them.    “F-fuck, Newt,” you sighed and closed your eyes, resting your head back into the fluff of the pillow.     Theseus was sucking the skin at the crook of your neck, determined to leave a mark. His hand on your thigh trailed closer and closer to your center until his skilled fingers reached your entrance under Newt's chin. He easily slid his longest digit inside and curled it upwards, instantly finding that spot he knew so well. He pumped his finger in and out, making sure to brush against your g-spot. Soon he added another finger and quickened his pace. Between Newt’s assault on your clit and Theseus’s fingers deep inside you, you were ambushed by another orgasm. White flashed behind your eyes and your hips spasmed. Newt sucked on your clit and Theseus vigorously fingered your hole as you rode out your high until you became too sensitive to touch and begged them to stop.     “No, no, no, baby,” Theseus muttered in your ear. “We can’t stop now,” he said. “We haven't ‘fucked you within an inch of your life’ yet.” You could hear the smirk in his voice. They weren't done with you yet.     Newt came up from between your legs and kissed you, letting you taste yourself on his lips. “Can you taste it?” he asked. “Your sweetness. I can’t get enough of it. I don’t think I ever will.”     Your lips chased his, wanting him to kiss you deeper. You were sandwiched between the two men, Theseus at your back, and Newt before you. You felt Theseus’s cock press flush against your ass while Newt's poked between your legs.     “Are you ready for us, darling?” Theseus asked as he nibbled at your ear.     “Yes,” you answered against Newt’s lips before he slid his tongue back down your throat.     Being as gentle as they could, the two brothers eased their cocks inside of you, introducing you to a whole new sensation. You had never been stretched out like this, with two cocks filling your holes at once. It was strange and slightly uncomfortable at first. They knew this, which is why they took their time, distracting you with their mouths and whispering sweet nothings in your ear, and ensuring you were okay.     “You’re doing so well,” they’d say.     “You feel so good.”     “You’re so wonderful, darling.”     “Are we hurting you, sweetheart?”     “Relax for us, my love.”     Theseus’s hand once again found your clit and he began lightly circling it with his fingers to give you some relief. It didn't take long for it to work and your body opened up for them with ease. They pushed deeper inside, inch by inch until they were fully sheathed in your flesh. They both whispered their own set of curses, letting out soft grunts and moans as they began slowly rocking their hips into you.     “Fuuuck,” Theseus moaned. “This ass is so fucking tight. You’re being so good for us, darling.”     “So, so good, love,” panted Newt. “You make us feel so good.”     Your high-pitched mewls and pretty sighs were like music to their ears. They completely engulfed you, body and soul. The world simply slipped away and nothing else mattered besides them, Theseus and Newt, making you feel better than you had ever felt before. You couldn't get enough of them, nor could they get enough of you. You were intoxicated by their scent, their bodies, and their moans. In your minds, you all tried to comprehend how lucky you all were to be in this moment. Nothing could be better than this. Nothing.     “This is it, isn't it?” Theseus panted in your ear. “Your secret. You’ve always wanted this. To have your holes stretched out by our cocks. Does it excite you, my darling, fucking two brothers? One just wasn't enough, was it? You had to have both. Well, now you have it. Now you’re taking our cocks like the good little girl you are, just like you wanted because we decided to give it to you. You should thank us. Go on and thank us, darling. Tell us how much you appreciate being filled up and fucked, blinded by your own pleasure.”     “T-th...Thank you,” you choked out, tears brimming your waterline. “Thank you so much! I wanted this. I always wanted this!”     “Good girl,” Newt praised, pressing a kiss on your forehead. “Such a good, good, girl for us. We’re glad to give it to you...Whatever you want, y/n. Whatever you want—a-ah!”      Newt’s thrusts got faster and sloppier, as did Theseus’s. They both worked hard to bury themselves deep inside you. It came to a point where both their cocks were brushing against your g-spot, one after the other. You felt the knot in your core again, that delicious, evanescent knot tightening, ticking like a bomb about to explode and send you to your euphoric escape.     “Oh, God!” You gasped, digging your nails into the skin of Newt’s back and Theseus’s thighs. “Don’t stop! P-please...right there! S-Shit, I love you!” You proclaimed. “Both of you. God, I love both of you so much!”     This seemed to excite them even more, something you didn't know was possible. They thrust into you faster than they ever had before, their winded breaths filling your ears.     “I love you,” Newt breathed. “So...so much...More than anything.” He kissed your lips.     “I love you too, darling,” grunted Theseus. “My sweet girl...Always.” He kissed your lips too.     In that moment the three of you bonded, body and soul. You all came at once, their bodies falling flush against you, twitching in satisfaction. For a while you just lay there as they held you and listened to the sound of their breaths while you waited for the sweet, buzzing feeling to dim. When it did, Theseus got up to fetch a towel from the bathroom, leaving you and Newt cuddled up on the bed, whispering sweetly to one another. They helped clean you up and embraced you with their warmth. You just stared at them, sharing kisses, twirling hair, giggling, holding hands, and gazing lovingly into their eyes. There wasn't much to say. You all knew. You didn’t need to say it. You could feel it in the room. You were complete.     “Do you smell something burning?” Theseus asked suddenly. You and Newt sniffed the air and your eyes widened like saucers.    “THE FUCKING TURKEY!” You gasped, and struggled your way out from between your two lovers, picking one of their shirts from off the floor to cover yourself as you ran downstairs to save what was left of your forgotten Christmas dinner.     Newt and Theseus smiled to themselves and chuckled. There was an awkward silence as they lay there alone, both unsure of what to say or do next.     “I do know how lucky I am, by the way.” Theseus was the first to speak.     “I know,” said Newt.     Theseus turned to his brother. “You can be lucky too...If you want.”     Newt blinked, not fully believing he’d heard what he thought he heard.     “She loves you,” said Theseus.     “She loves you too,” Newt reminded him.     “I know. And we both love her.”     “And we both love her.”      It was as simple as that.     “Thank you, Theseus,” said Newt.     Theseus scoffed and playfully pushed Newt’s shoulder.     “Happy Christmas, Newt.”     “Happy Christmas, Theseus.”

Some Unholy War | Theseus Scamander
Tumblr media
SUMMARY: In an ideal world, you’d like to think you and Theseus could be friends. Frankly, though, his compassion made you nauseous. Or maybe it was nerves. The feeling was always hard for you to distinguish. You wished the way he looked at you would bring warmth to your chest, but it only reminded you of how that was another impossibility.
PAIRING: Theseus Scamander x f!reader
WORD COUNT: 2.1K
WARNINGS: canon-typical things, mentions of smoking and drinking, angst, morally gray reader, mutual pining, semi enemies-to- lovers, protective Theseus, etc.
A/N: Lowkey proud of this one, so comments and feedback are Super welcomed! This was based off this request, so thank you SO much anon, this was a blast that might have to be a series. Also Huge thanks to @kalllistos for all the help, couldn’t have been done without you!! Enjoy.
PART II, PART III, PART IV
You fit in so absolutely.
The rim of your glass was still lined with enough sugar to enjoy dwindling sips. Theseus knew it was gin. Your lipstick left a mark on everything you kissed, the pattern was found on your glass, and the cigarette holder balanced between your fingers. You made everything look so serene. Simple.
Scanning the room, you hadn’t seen Theseus yet. However, he, too, fit in—tie properly knotted to show his status and pocket-watch cleverly tucked in his waistcoat. Once he joined you at the secluded booth, he’d complete the idyllic image.
Yet, Theseus lingered for a moment, taking you in. Your confidence was always envious. It worked silently, exuding from your presence alone. Your magnetism couldn’t be credited to magic but to how you evolved, becoming pointed and moving without fault.
Theseus was one of the only ones remaining to know it hadn’t begun that way. He remembered you, a few years below him, always sprinting to class, already late. The professors would scold you, and your confidence was read as insolence. You challenged everything and excelled in doing so, but it only lent itself to trouble. It created a barrier always present between the two of you.
“You’re late.” You sucked in a crackling breath. With pointed eyes, you took his presence in. Even late into the night, he was always so poised. Professional.  “I’m risking a lot showing my face here.”
“You look beautiful.” Theseus slid into the leather cushion. The charm always came with his supposed  professionalism. It came in waves and never crawled under your skin the way intended. “Relax…It’s fine.”
Unbuttoning his suit jacket’s button, Theseus settled. It was bold of you to accept his invitation to meet so publicly, but he knew you couldn’t resist. You just needed to play your part smartly and get what you want.
“Your promises are too shallow for me to trust.” You crossed your legs, making it easier to lean and be heard. Then, you clicked your tongue against your teeth with sarcasm, “I think I’d rather you arrest me.”
“Unfortunately, I’ve clocked out for the night.” Theseus was an intentional man, a clever man. He was protecting his image just as much as yours. “It’s just you and me.”
“That’s why you wanted to meet here…” You hummed with feigned realization. The muggle restaurant was a precarious cover but equally as rewarding in its purpose. “You know there are better ways to ask someone on a date.”
“I’ll keep that in mind for next time…” Theseus matched your hum absentmindedly. The banter was a buffer, something to ease into an inevitable unwanted conversation. Reaching into his heavily charmed jacket, he pulled out a file.
It was always a fucking file. The folders were always pristine, never quite full of all the information, just enough of what Theseus was willing to share. It grew over the years of the unorthodox relationship, but you knew not to mistake that for trust.
The figures in the picture were blurry, moving incoherently as they entered a building. The stack of images moved in sequence, following rushedly an exchange that was meant to remain a secret. Without seeing their faces well, you knew who they were, and you held back from using your cigarette roach to burn it all away. Instead, the image repeat over and over before you, but your expression was trained with passivity.
“When did he get out?” You finally met Theseus’ eye. Your composure could fool most, but to a trained eye, your discomfort was obvious.
“A month or so at this point...”
Your laugh was bitter. “So, I’ve been a sitting duck.”
“You’ve been avoiding me...” Theseus countered, his tone just barely teasing. There was truth in jest, as there were plenty of owls following you. You looked at him, knowing what came next. His compassion would get him killed. “...I can help you.”
“Careful.” You cocked your head, musing a buried thought. “You’re getting awful sentimental these days.”
“Don’t you want those off?” Theseus leaned in like you had, voice low. Although his fingers were threaded together, he pointed to the bracelets on your wrists.
You smirked, “And ruin my outfit?”
Rarely did you acknowledge them so explicitly. The bracelets—admonitors—dampened your magic by tracking your every spell. They made you feel like a child with a trace spell. Part of you wished you could say you grew accustomed to the constant surveillance, but you grew weary of lying.
The offer was too sweet, and you wanted more than just your magic untraced. “What’s the catch?”
“You help the Ministry find him.” Theseus was trying to protect you, but you were too filled with vindication to notice.
“You mean work for you.”
He frowned, correcting you, “With me.”
“There truly isn’t a difference in your world.” You spat. The ministry was the reason you were in this mess; they branded your cuffs as a daily reminder that your autonomy was shared. “You’d be using me as bait.”
The conversation would go in circles, as it always had. It was the reason more time was added between meetings. Every time you left, that bitter taste grew stronger, and it was difficult to put it aside to face Theseus again and again. This was different—more threatening, but your anger prevailed.
“I won’t do it.”
“Catching him will clear your name.” Theseus all but begged. He remained poised, but you knew it would only last for so long. Those around you looked your way; interest piqued in conversation they weren’t privy to.
“I’m not innocent.” You were blunt. You had been called cold because of it. But it was a trait that you favored, especially at times like this. You wanted to see Theseus break.
You had done unspeakable things, figuring it was an acceptable way to siphon your affection. You were young and blinded by false idolization. Theseus chose to see the best in you, even now, even after everything. He, too, was blinded by an image of you that hadn’t changed since you were children.
The table held your drink, forgotten and diluted. The air was tense and hushed. Theseus needed to move fast, knowing you were moments away from fleeing. But he knew he had just enough time as you lit another cigarette, this time not for vanity but to quell your nerves.
Your nails tapped on the base of your cocktail glass. Your fingertips twitched, begging to satisfy their itch for magic. You debated on if your actions would be worth it.  Theseus decided for you, hand flexing to replenish your drink.
Your lipstick remained fresh but still marked the glass. It was perfectly cold, calming the swarm of nerves that hit you. “It’s a bit strong.”
“Nothing you can’t handle, I’m sure.” Theseus appreciated your teasing; it meant he was doing something right.
“This place is quite charming, you know,” You looked around before shifting forward even more. It may have been improper, but you leaned over the table, elbows resting comfortably. “Next time, we’ll have to venture and order food.”
“Sure.” Theseus agreed, body language mirroring yours. To anyone else, the pair of you would look smitten. “Anytime you’d like.”
“Anytime?” Your eyebrow ticked up as you tapped at the ashtray.  “Come on, I’m surprised you’ve stuck around as long as you have.” Your knuckles crept forward, almost bumping his as they dragged to the middle of the linen cloth atop the table. “Truly—We haven’t—”
You stopped yourself with an uncharacteristic laugh. A tinge spread below Theseus’ freckles, assuming your humor was chastising him. But you were laughing at yourself, at how ridiculous you felt. You were enjoying yourself.
The feeling felt foreign, so you prickled. “Be practical, Theseus.”
Your worlds barely overlapped, and where it had highlighted the worst parts of each of you. Your world was dark and hidden; you stole and bribed. You were suitable for it and resisted morphing into the image Theseus expected of you.
He was as kind as any Hufflepuff, putting other needs first and blindly placing his kindness. He mistook his demeanor for bravery, but his true bravery formed by sitting across from you. The only barrier seemed to be Theseus’ incorruptible moral code, a space where you couldn’t quite freely exist.
“I need to know the full story.” His voice was commanding, betraying his desperation.
Theseus looked warm, contrasting the winter blizzarding outside. A bubble was created that was becoming suffocating, but with him across you, it seemed just marginally bearable. His hand flexed, skimming yours, hoping to regain your attention.
“You already know how it ends. What does the rest matter?” You thought to sink back, but you chased the small contact. “I want nothing to do with this. With him.”
“I’ll be there the entire time,” Theseus promised, voice low and steady, reflecting his sincerity. You could make out the warmth he was willing to share, but you weren’t willing to accept it wholly.
“And my interests?”
Theseus’ expression fell slightly at your evasive rejection. It reminded him of his position, of his strained relation to you—what he was supposed to do but always found a reason to put off.
“It depends on where they lie.”
In an ideal world, you’d like to think you and Theseus could be friends. Frankly, though, his compassion made you nauseous. Or maybe it was nerves. The feeling was always hard for you to distinguish. You wished the way he looked at you would bring warmth to your chest, but it only reminded you of how that was another impossibility.
You wished his gaze would turn you to stone; that way, you could avoid everything else. Instead, it made you melt, it made you pliable in way you opposed with others. There was a suspicion he kept returning just because of that—despite your bluff and his willful ignorance, you weren’t made of stone, and deep down, he knew that. Probably not consciously, but he did.
You always came back. Or he did—another indistinguishable something. You could still feel his fingers reaching for yours. It almost made you cave. Yet, your back met the bench of the booth, and your hand drew away as you placed your cigarette on your lips.
Although you were still present, Theseus watched you flee. Your guard returned stronger, but he didn’t regret his words. Theseus’ eyes were pleading, and you went to blame his naivety, but you found something distinct there. The reason you were here tonight was not for a favor.
It was an ultimatum, not a request.
“When was this decided?” You asked. You thought Theseus came alone, and now the naivety fell on you. There were too many eyes on you now to dismiss the crowd as solely muggles.  You fell so perfectly into the trap that all you could do was laugh.
“I wanted to keep you out of this,” Theseus admitted. It was the truth, but he knew what needed to be done. The greater good, you could already hear his defense. “This is the only way.”
“Your way.” You shook your head. Another laugh. “And what happens when he kills me? Hmm?”
“He won’t.” Another promise that made you sick. “I’ll be there the whole ti—
“Then you, Theseus—” Venom dripped from your every pointed word. From the corner of your eye, you saw how the undercover aurors were ready to respond to your agitation. If they wanted a spectacle, you were moments from providing it. “— are ill-prepared for what he’s willing to do.”
“You need to trust me.” Theseus attempted to regain the conversation but failed to recognize any mending he made was lost.
“And why should I trust the man that watches my every move?”
Theseus put you in this position; he was the wizard who held your wrist tightly all those years ago to secure the admonitors. For your own good, he told you. He believed it, and yet again, you found yourself at the hands of his so-called mercy.
“And if I decline?” You weren’t in such a position to, but Theseus understood your question only brought ruination.
“The only way you're walking out of here is because of me.”
A threat, how original.  Your cigarette threatened to burn your lips. The ash tarnished the linen that fell over your lap. Apart of you hoped it would set the entire thing aflame. Maybe then you’d have a chance at a genuine escape. For now, though, you resolved to the final word.
“You think you are blessed with morality—” You finished your drink, the taste becoming sour. “—yet what sits before me is nothing but a boy that’s only purpose is to follow orders blindly.”

Newt wasn’t surprised when all his creatures fell for you. It honestly made him even happier when he’d see how some of them got so excited to see you and would miss you when you weren’t around. But one thing he didn’t expect was the nifflers loving you as much as they did. When it was just the one, he was shocked to see Teddy make a bee line for you. The little thing crawled up your leg and held onto your neck. Newt reached forward to get her off, fearing she might take your necklace but upon closer inspection she was just cuddling close. She was rubbing into your neck and licking your hair, almost like she was trying to groom you.
You let out a giggled when she accidently licked your ear. “What’s wrong love? You want cuddles?” You asked, moving your hands to hold her closer to you. You held me like a newborn baby pressed into your shoulder. And you rocked her too, singing softly as Newt stared at you with admiration. God did he love you. Seeing how you handled Teddy made him fall in love with you even more and a small part of him began to wonder what you look like holding a real baby. His baby. A blush crept up his neck at the thoughts running through his mind.
Teddy almost seemed to be your familiar. [A/N: animals (some say animal-shaped. spirits) that serve a witch in various ways, whether as servants, messengers or even spies] She came with you where ever you went, just like how picket was with Newt. She’d sit on your shoulder, hide in your coat, or chill in a small bag you began to carry around just for her. Once she had her babies though, she stopped doing this. She mostly stayed at home but would still cuddle and nuzzle you whenever you stepped foot into your shared home with Newt.

“Hello Teddy, are you doing alright?” You asked. She was panting and whining in pain. She was in labor and the most you could do to help was sit with her and speak to her. You brought your hand to rest under her head, rubbing your thumb against her face causing her to lean closer to you. Newt was with you as well, but he was there mostly to make sure everything was going well and that Teddy, and the babies, were safe. It was a long labor but eventually all 3 of her babies came into the world safely, thanks to Newt.
Once she was done, she nibbled at your hand, pulling your closer to her babies. You felt hesitant, seeing how tiny they were and worried you might accidently hurt them but Newt reassure you. You hand covered them completely, like a blanket. You wondered if they would like you as much as Teddy does, maybe they’d be different and go back to their normal way of just wanted anything shiny. You were so wrong.

Newt came back home, having been denied permission to travel once again. It was starting to weight on him and made him feel a level of sadness he’d never felt before. But walking into your shared home he tried to hide him feelings. Beginning to look for you so he could have some sort of physical contact.
“Y/n?” You didn’t reply
Newt’s first place to check was always the basement. It was the biggest so it just made sense but after a good look around he couldn’t find you. When he made his way back to the stairs, throwing a quick glance to where the Nifflers were held, he froze. They weren’t there and you weren’t there. Had they gotten out? Were you looking for them? He rushed back up stairs checking every room again.
Finally, all he had left to do was check the bedroom.
He walked over, gently turning the knob and peaking inside. The sight before him eased him immediately and brought the biggest smile to his face. He leaned against the door frame and watched you closely.
You had all 4 of the Nifflers on the bed. Your body curled into itself on your side while Teddy laid near your face and her head resting on your neck. Then the babies. They were all over, one laying inside your shirt nuzzling into your chest, another close to your stomach, your arm draping over it and hold it closer to you. And the last one had made a nest in your hair. It was by far the cutest thing Newt had ever seen. He wished you could stay like this forever, looking so peaceful and beautiful.
With a quiet sigh he walked further into the room and closed the door behind himself. He was trying to be as quiet as possible as to not wake you. He slipped on his shoes, undid his tie and gently folded his coat. He reached into the closet and grabbed a thin blanket. It had been pretty hot recently, so he didn’t want to make you overheat but even then he still worried slight about you being even the tiniest bit cold. Then, after laying the blanket on top of you and creatures he crawled in behind you. Slowly spooning you.
Even in your sleeping state you moaned and melted under his touch. His arm trying to gently rest under your neck and the other wrapping around your torso.
“Newt...” You mumbled in your sleep, moving a free hand to interlock with his. He chuckled, holding you. Every worry and fear washed away as you laid together. For a moment he felt like nothing else mattered and that later, once you had woken up, he’d open up to you about how he was feelings. And you’d be there to support him. Every step of the way.

december 1912
a large pine tree protected you from the harsh winter, leaving your seats dry as could be. layers upon layers of chilled colorless cotton covered the grass before you two.
you sat next to a boy that had the stars written in his skin. he hunched over a family of mice: two small mice and a larger one.
you hid together, running away from the world as always.
you watched your friend. your knees curled into your chest and your eyelids hung over your tired eyes. the cold hammered the urge to cough against your ribs but you refused.
your friend's cold fingers were the only thing peaking out of his school robes that engulfed him. he used his trembling bones to scoot the apple slices he had brought towards the family, silently encouraging the tiny nibbles.
your eyes drifted to the white landscape surrounding you. you sighed, and brought yourself to your feet. the brown sweater that covered your school clothes hardly did enough to keep you warm, but you disregarded that.
the crystals crunched under your feet as you made your way through frozen field. snow slowly fell from the clouds. they mixed with the color of your hair. a smile painted your lips dry in the stabbing cold as you twirled, eventually falling in the soft bed of ice.
the boy you had abandoned under the tree with the mice and stars had been watching you dance under the clouded day. he gnawed on his lip before standing and making his way over to you.
the mice ran off, carrying a single apple slice with them.
he followed the footsteps that you left in the sea of white. once he arrived, he came to find you smiling up at him as you rubbed your hands and legs over the snow.
"what are you doing?" the lighter haired boy nearly whispered, not wanting to completely disturb the silence of the loud world.
"i'm making a snow angel," you continued smiling from the ground.
"a what?"
"a snow angel! do wizards not have that?"
the only response you received was a furrowed brow of confusion.
"come on," you dragged the lighter haired boy down next to you.
a chilled huff escaped the fallen's lips. the visible air exploded into the clouds.
"now, it's really quite simple. you just spread your arms - like this! then you move them up and down,"
your friend participated.
"then, you move your legs out real wide and move them side to side,"
he participated once more.
"than you've done it! a snow angel!"
the starry skinned boy furrowed his eyebrows in focus. he bite his lip and moved his arms once, then legs once, then arms once more, then legs again.
"can you-" you sat up, fighting the urge to laugh at your friend. "is it difficult to do both?"
the lighter haired boy only nodded, still trying his best to participate in the new activity.
"that's alright, it's enough, anyway. come on, step up!" you ushered. you stood together, side by side, looking down at your angels that laid so close they nearly held each other.
"and ta-da! you have a wonderful little angel that you've made." your grin was stupidly big.
a smile pulled at the corner of the starry boy's lips as well.

january 1913
you made a beeline for your destination during lunch one winters day. christmas and new years had gone and passed. now, the most important day to you was coming up: your starry skinned friend's birthday.
you pushed the heavy doors to the transfiguration classroom open with ease, but hastily shut them soon after. the professor of the class quietly sat at his desk, quill in hand hovering over a parchment filled with notes.
"ah yes," the older man grumbled. "please do come in." the sarcasm weaved it's way through every syllable but you refused to acknowledge it.
"professor, please, this is no time for jokes."
the older gentleman sighed, placing his quill down gently on the desk. ink dripped quietly off of the sharp tip. "what is it?" despite his appeared annoyance, the professor uttered your name with expectance.
"so," you began pacing in front of the professors desk as you spoke. "as you know, a peer's birthday is coming up rather soon."
the professor sighed once more, but an amused smile played at the lips between his thick beard.
"well, i've finally come up with the perfect gift after all this time!"
"go on then,"
"i want to give him a memory."
"that's - alright, how are you going to do that?" the professor suppressed his laughter at the thought of his student, who has never been the most studious, attempting something as complex as any spell that has to do with a memory, or even enchantment.
"that's a good question, now, isn't it?"
"are you going to give him a pendant or something?"
"oh, now that's smart!"
the professor rolled his eyes at your lack of thorough thought. "you know, that's very advanced magic."
"i'm well aware. but, that's where my helpful, caring professor can come in and teach me!" you flashed a large, pleading smile at the older man who only sighed in response.
he eyed you up and down, "are you sure you want to do that? after everything-," the professor began to voice his worries over you: a student that he has taken under his wing to a personal level.
the smile on your face fell rather quickly at the words. "it's for newt, i can get over myself for him." your immediate tone change had the professor internally scolding himself. "will you help me or not? i can always go ask-,"
"no, i'll help you. if you're going to learn it you might as well learn it from someone who actually knows what they're doing." the professor stood with a grunt, mentally preparing for the hours of after school lessons he was committing to.
"great! that's lovely, professor, thank you so much!" you practically shook with excitement, running out of the door in a hurry before the man could take back his promises.

february 24, 1913
you two curled up together on the top bed of your shared bunk under a blanket: your bed.
candles littered their desks, causing the room outside of your blanket haven to glow a warm orange.
pools of wax surrounded the candles on your desk. the warm wax leaked onto the many papers of homework that you would later see and simply roll your eyes over.
newt, however, kept his candles in their holders or settled in small bowls. the wax dripped down and collected neatly all together, far from any papers or books.
under the blanket, newt held his wand similar to a quill. instead of ink, light dripped out. the light washed over the page and splashed onto your giggling faces.
the soft chiming of a clock sliced through the quiet laughter, immediately sparking your memory. you let out a soft, but extremely excited, "oh!"
you hurried from under the covers, newt slowly following after you.
you dug through the pockets of your school robes hanging over a chair muttering and cursing to yourself about where "it" could possibly have gone. a small breath of relief escaped the passages of your nose as you felt the tiny felt box in the midst of your pockets filled with nonsense.
you turned around shoving a small box into newt's hands. "happy birthday," you whispered. your eyes struggled to look anywhere but the single stripe on his sleep shirt.
a gentle smile played over your lips, though. one that enchanted newt and kept him staring for longer than he needed to. "y-you really didn't need to," he stuttered, finally taking the box from your hands.
"i wanted to." despite your appearance, your heart bounced against your ribs as loud as a it physically could.
newt hands shook lightly as opened the cream box with a gold ribbon around it to reveal a metal pendant that looked to have been poorly bent in the shape of a heart. it hung off of a small chain to make a necklace.
"what's this?" he tugged the necklace out of the box, inspecting the hand made heart.
"here," your voice shook as you gently took the necklace into your hands, pulling the heart in half to reveal the projected memory you had spent weeks working with your professor to get in to the pendant (that you also made and bent all by yourself. you were very proud of the funky heart).
"you've enchanted it," newt whispered under his breath, bewildered at the sight.
he watched the memory play out before him: one that had been pushed to the back of his mind but was revitalized as soon as he saw the familiar sight.
it was the your first trip to hogsmeade together. the day newt showed you everything and anything there was to show about the enchanting town he had been raised to know. the town itself didn't affect him much at all anymore, but he knew you'd find it absolutely stunning. he was so excited to introduce you to the magical world when you two were little.
you sipped on your butterbeers together. you loved the overly sweet drink, and newt made a face at the sugar that bit at his teeth. newt offered his drink to you with a frown at the taste. one that you laughed at, eventually pulling a laugh out from newt.
"did you do it?" newt's voice could hardly be heard. the fear of disturbing the silence ached within him.
"hm?" you hummed equally as quiet.
"did you learn the spell?"
"'course i did." you replied as if it were nothing, but newt was well aware of how it was a big something. "is it-, do you like it?" your whisper was shockingly shy and insecure. a rare vulnerability that newt understood he was privileged to hear.
"yes! i-i love it," newt's hasty response cut through the comforting silence between you two. but you only smiled.
"here, let me put it on,"
newt stood still while you raised yourself on your toes to reach around the tall boy's shoulders to his neck. newt, very aware of the proximity between the two of you, looked down at the quickly dying candles that were providing the only light in the room.
you leaned back down onto your heels, "there." you played with the pendant over his chest between your fingers, finally letting it fall against his clothes.
"t-thank you," newt stuttered your name, struggling to get anything more than a mutter our.
you smiled.
and the candles finally went out.

Bad Mood {N.S.}
✰ 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: Upset reader, Newt being a literal saint despite being yelled at and ignored.
✰ 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: Newt Scamander x reader
✰ 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭: 1k words
✰ 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: You’ve been in a bad mood lately and Newt wants to get to the bottom of it.
Tumblr media
You woke up kinda cranky and you had no idea why.
Maybe it was hormones, maybe it was nerves since Newt was still in America, maybe you simply woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
You got up, stretched, drank water, and checked the counter where your owl, Oliver, always put the Daily Prophet and a letter from Newt. Every morning while he was gone.
Except Newt hadn’t written you a letter the day before.
That just soured your mood even more.
You spent the entire day trying to tidy up and not think about it.
It was something that even Diagon Alley couldn’t fix. Diagon Alley has been your favorite place to be since... forever! It would seem stressful to others but it’s nice once you get used to the crowds, the noise, the vendors.
Everything just makes sense there even when it doesn’t.
You bought ice cream and moodily went home, hardly acknowledging everyone you knew in the most magical place in the world.
You got home and cuddled with your cat in the dark silence of your bedroom. You did your best to go to bed and, eventually, fell into a dreamless sleep.
The next day the Daily Prophet and a letter from Newt.
A letter from... Newt.
Nope.
Ignore.
He ignored you and you knew he could take it.
And before you knew it you had a pile of letters from him on the counter over the next two weeks.
You stared at the pile of letters, biting your nails nervously. You had no idea what to say or where to start even if you did.
So you waited until he got home.
It had been two months by that point.
You weren’t even home when he walked through the door and it just made Newt worry about you more.
He had been worried since you stopped writing to him but he held out hope.
Hope that you’d write back.
Hope that you were okay.
And when you walked in with groceries, almost dropping everything when you saw him, he couldn’t help but smile.
You put your stuff down and gave him a small smile, not even looking into Newt’s eyes.
He got close to you and grabbed your chin gently with his thumb and index finger. “Why aren’t you looking at me?” He asked, the hurt evident in his voice.
You pushed his hand away and shook you head.
The truth was that you were disappointed in yourself. You let one bad day snowball into this moment.
It sucked.
You felt the tears welling up and you just shook your head. You knew if you spoke then you would start crying.
So you said nothing.
You would rather let your husband, with whom you’ve been in love since you were fifteen years old, believe you were mad at him than to admit your feelings.
But Newt knew you better than that.
He’s never seen this side of you so... he gave you space.
He tried his best to not take it personally, to take care of your regular chores, to do whatever he needed to make you feel better.
He knew you weren’t mad, you just seemed off.
About a week after he got home, Newt was sitting at the table while he read the Daily Prophet. You came out of your room and put your head on his shoulder to which he smiled.
“Glad to have you back,” Newt said gently as if he was talking to one of his creatures.
You pulled your head off of him and pulled up a chair silently. “I’m sorry.”
Newt looked up and frowned. “For what?”
You scratched your nose in an attempt to keep from crying. “I, uhm... I was being a jerk Newt and I shouldn’t have been.” You told him, tears finally falling. “It all started when I woke up a few months ago and our usual letter wasn’t there. Then I got petty and didn’t respond and then the letters kept coming and I was too embarrassed to write back when it had suddenly jumped to two weeks later and... and...” You could hardly understand yourself since you were getting loud and talking faster and, you know, sobbing your eyes out.
Newt leaned forward and put a hand on your knee. He gave your tear-stained face a gentle smile and squeezed your knee a little. “It’s okay.”
It just made you want to rip your hair out. “But it’s not okay!” You responded petulantly. “I was being a... a... a... pillock. I was being stupid.”
“You were not being stupid my love,” Newt tried assuring you. “I understand, you were out of routine. You’re never out of routine and I’m sure it was a hard day,” He told you sincerely.
You sniffled and wiped your eyes. “I’m sorry. I feel like I’ve messed everything up.”
Newt grabbed your hands and squeezed slightly. “You know what I was doing the day I forgot to write?” He asked.
You shook your head and squeezed Newt’s hands back.
“I was getting you this,” Newt let go and went to his suitcase. He rummaged around for a little bit when he finally pulled out a three-headed pup.
Your eyes widened and you got up to meet Newt and the new pup.
Newt smiled at your reaction and handed you the small hound. “His name is Bear and I got him for you since I knew that you get lonely here when I’m doing other things for work.” He said as he shoved his hands into his pockets, a slight blush creeping up to his cheeks.
You smiled for the first time in months and put your head on Newt’s chest. “I love you so much. I don’t deserve you.”
Newt wrapped his arms around you, shaking his head. “You’re wrong. You deserve the universe.”

#5- Christmas at Hogwarts
The fire was your only company in all of Hogwarts that night.
It blazed and crackled in the grate, warm and inviting as a dear friend. You scooted closer, shivering even underneath your thick coat. Your hands seemed incapable of warming up. No matter how close you held them to the fire, the warmth declined to accompany you for long. It was too painful a reminder of your family; like them, the heat pushed you away if you got too close, threatening to sear your skin. Yet too far and it felt like there was not a fire burning at all.
You swallowed your respite. It was Christmas Eve, and Hogwarts was decorated beautifully- golden tinsel strung along the window frames, evergreen wreaths with large acorns and red bows adorning the doors, and even an enormous pine tree set up in the corner, clothed in a myriad of twinkling lights and shining ornaments. But the décor was just another reminder of how alone you were. Everyone in your House had returned home to loving families and abundant gifts for Christmas- all except you.
You pulled your (Y/H) scarf tighter, rubbing your face with the soft cloth as you tried to thaw your freezing skin. You refused to let any tears fall. Yes, you were alone, but it was Christmas. There was solace in the good memories you had of years past, and no matter how desolate things seemed, you always felt that the magic in the air was stronger this time of year.
You had taken to drawing miniature snowmen in the fireplace cinders with your wand when you felt it: something small and warm brushing against your leg. Startled, you looked to the side but saw nothing. Then the same sensation rubbed against your other leg. As you turned, a furry little creature poked its head out from underneath your coat. It looked like a fluffy platypus, with a pink bill, pale feet, and tiny curved claws.
“Well hello, little fella,” you said, scooping the creature into your hands. It was incredibly soft. “Where did you come from?”
The creature purred as you stroked it tenderly, gazing up at you with shimmering black eyes. You laughed in delight as it scurried up your arm and snuggled between your scarf and your neck.
“Cold, are you?” You tucked in both ends of your scarf, creating a scooped blanket for the creature. “There. Is that better?”
It nuzzled into your neck and you laughed again as its fur tickled you. It was possible it escaped from one of the classrooms, but you didn’t feel the need to return it anywhere- at least, not for now. You felt the weight on your heart begin to lessen. Maybe you wouldn’t be so alone on Christmas Eve after all.
“Teddy?”
You craned your head around at the familiar voice. You hadn’t heard anyone enter the main hall- in fact, you had been sure you were the only one left in the whole building. As you wondered who it could be, a boy with a swath of ruddy hair emerged from the hall.
“Teddy? Don’t be a scoundrel. I better not catch you stealing any-” The boy stopped when he saw you. “Oh. (Y/N). I didn’t know you were here.”
“I didn’t know you were here either, Newt,” you said, a smile creeping up your face. The presence of your longtime friend was an even greater relief to your solemnity. “What are you doing here?”
He shifted, pulling at his bright yellow Hufflepuff scarf. “I-I came to find Teddy.”
“He’s with me,” you said, patting your scarf. “But I mean, why are you here- not at home with your family? It’s Christmas Eve.”
He didn’t speak for a long time. Eventually he said, “I... may have missed the last train.”
You gaped at him, a disbelieving laugh escaping your lips. “You missed the last train? How?”
He wouldn’t meet your eyes. It occurred to you that maybe he had been withheld from boarding for an unknown reason.
“I’m sorry,” you said. “I guess it’s just nice not to be alone.” When he didn’t reply, you offered, “Want to sit with me?”
His eyebrows twitched up as if you’d given him an umbrella on a bleak rainy day. Newt was undoubtedly much different than the rest of your friends- he was so incredibly gentle and humble in a way that was rare to find in anyone else. He was always generous in his kindness, but the moment even the smallest kindness was offered him back, he was so unprepared that it almost made you want to laugh.
He came and sat down a little ways away from you. You patted the floor next to you, beckoning him closer. “Come here. You’ll feel the fire better.”
It was impossible to tell if the redness on his cheeks was a blush or the glow of the fire. Slowly, he scooted to sit next to you.
“He’s taken a liking to you,” he mumbled. “Teddy, I mean.”
“I think he’s taken more of a liking to my scarf. I can’t say I blame him.”
Newt smiled briefly, staring at the embers on the ground. “Nifflers may pride on materialism, but they know a pure heart when they see one.”
Something about the words warmed your insides. “Where did you find him anyway?” you asked.
“You could say he’s a family pet.”
“Oh. Your mother keeps magical creatures, right?”
“She breeds Hippogriffs,” said Newt. “Some of the other creatures are...adopted family members.”
You gazed contentedly into the fire. “That sounds nice.”
Newt stole a glance at you, playing with the rim of his cloak. “If I may ask... why are you here, (Y/N)?”
It was your turn to run short of words. The truth was that you were a Muggleborn and your family vehemently disapproved of magic. Some of the professors at Hogwarts had hexed them for years into believing that you went to a boarding school like any other, but last year the truth got out. Your family ordered you to stop attending Hogwarts. When you refused, they said you could stay- so long as you didn’t return home.
You still loved your family and missed them dearly. But you couldn’t deny the magic in your veins. You couldn’t leave Hogwarts behind, not when it had been your second home for so long. Not when it meant saying goodbye to the friends you had made.
Instead of saying any of this, you gave Newt an encouraging smile and said, “I couldn’t make it home for the holidays.”
A comfortable silence passed between you two, broken only by the crack and snap of the logs in the fire. In that moment it seemed you had bonded in a way you never had before. There was something about being alone together on a holiday when you were meant to be with everyone that united your shivering hearts. You thought that if it had to be anyone here with you tonight on Christmas Eve, you were glad it was Newt Scamander.
“(Y/N)?” said Newt after a while.
“Yes?”
He seemed to be treading carefully. “How would you like to come to Hogsmeade with me?”
You blinked at him before breaking into a grin. “Do you really mean it?”
“Well, only if it’s something you’d like to do-”
You laid an excited hand on his knee. “That sounds wonderful. What are we waiting for? Let’s go!”
Newt appeared so startled by your touch that he sat frozen in place as you jumped up and bounded down the hall. You stopped at the doors and turned back to face him. “Come on Newt, don’t be a slowpoke,” you said, a teasing tone sliding into your voice. Teddy the Niffler chittered in agreement.
Blushing deeper, Newt pushed to his feet and followed you down the hall. “Don’t you turn against me now, Teddy.”
If it could have been possible for a Niffler to snicker, he would have. You laughed at the two of them. “Race you to the front gates!”
Newt didn’t have time to reply before you took off. Smiling to himself, he ran after you, the sounds of laughter and clicking soles on stone floors filling the lonely castle with a beautiful kind of music.
******
The snow had been falling heavily since morning and was settled so thickly across the cobblestone pathway that you felt like you were walking on cotton candy. You were still panting and flushed with heat from your sprint throughout the castle, and the frigid air blowing your hair away from your face was more welcoming in that moment than any fire could have been. Your breaths came out like transparent white clouds as you turned around and triumphantly pumped your fists in the air. “I win!”
Newt, panting just as hard and clutching his side, nodded fervently. You wanted to giggle again at the sight of him- one pant leg rolled a bit higher than the other, his scarf tossed askew around his shoulders, his cloak hanging crookedly around his body. You had to resist an urge to ruffle his already messy hair, which was quickly becoming powdered white with snow.
You peeked inside your scarf to check on the Niffler. “You alright in there, little buddy?”
The creature’s eyes were wide with exhilaration. He gave you a sweet kiss on the chin and you laughed as its ticklish fur caressed your skin.
“He’d prefer to be carried all day if you let him,” Newt said, crunching across the snow to you. “Though I’d be careful. He tends to steal shiny things.”
“This little guy, a thief?” you scratched his soft belly. “That couldn’t be.”
“Have you lost anything?”
You playfully bumped him with your elbow. “Got nothing to lose. Come on, we’d better go before they douse the lanterns.”
The snow proved as deep and noncompliant as it looked from afar as you and Newt treaded along the path. Each of your steps sank down until the snow was nearly to your knees, making every few steps quite arduous work. Newt came up with the brilliant idea to magic the both of you a pair of snowshoes, and from then on the going was far easier.
The two of you were chatting about your semesters, your midterm exams, and your plans after Hogwarts when you reached the hilltop that led down into Hogsmeade village. It looked like a Christmas town, with slanted rooftops layered with snow, light gray smoke trailing from chimneys, and sparkling green-and-red lights along the storefronts. You even spotted a few decorated Christmas trees in windows and in front of squat buildings.
By then the cold had seeped back into your bones and left you shivering to your core. Newt, dressed similar to you, was clenching his jaw to keep his teeth from chattering. Nothing in the world seemed more appealing right then than to huddle up in one of the Hogsmeade pubs next to a fireplace, preferably with a cup of something hot. But an idea had crept into your mind.
“What’s that?” you gasped.
Newt furrowed his brow, searching the scene below. “What?”
“That, down there.”
“The village?”
“No, to the left of it.”
You stepped backward as he stepped forward to see. “The forest?”
“Next to the forest.”
“I’m not sure I understand-”
Newt was cut off as a huge, crude snowball hit him clean in the back with a splat! He jumped, whirling around questioningly, one hand already on his wand. Then he saw your impish grin.
“Does this mean war?” he asked rather timidly.
You scooped up more snow and rolled it into a ball. “This means war.”
Newt dove as you aimed the next snowball at him. He gathered one and took aim at you, though his force was poor. The snowball came just short of your feet.
“Afraid to hit a girl, Scamander?” you teased. “I’m sure Teddy could throw harder than that.”
“I’m only afraid it wouldn’t be very gentlemanly of me,” he said as another of your artillery smacked him on the shoulder.
“This should be an easy win then!”
The two of you ran down the hill, peppering each other with snowballs, dodging and rolling in the snow, the sound of your laughter sweetening the lonely night air. The ice was numbing your fingers and your sides were aching with exertion, but you didn’t care. You hadn’t had this kind of fun in a long time.
You darted to a nearby tree to restock when a cluster of snow larger than your head exploded upon the side of your face. You looked up, mouth open, and stared in disbelief at the Hufflepuff.
“Sorry!” Newt said quickly, eyes wide. “I didn’t mean to hurt you, I-I didn’t realize-”
He was cut off as you whipped out your wand and, grinning from ear to ear, lifted a mountain of snow into the air above his head. With a flick you let it drop, effectively drowning him from head to toe in a small avalanche.
He burst from the little mountain, sputtering and shaking snow out of his eyes. “You cheated,” he gasped. “Magic.”
“Whoever said there were any rules?”
You granted him a moment to pull himself out of the snow and get back on his feet. He gave you a playfully hesitant look. In the next moment, his wand was in his hand and a fleet of snowballs were soaring towards you.
You retaliated to match, sending torrents to meet him and diverting his attacks. He’d finally begun to give the competition you were looking for.
You slipped as he used magic to shift the snow beneath your feet, seeing that he was rolling a snowball large enough to cloak the forest. While he was distracted, you caused a ball to hit him in the back of the head, impeding his focus. In one fell swoop, you made a gust of wind knock him to his knees and destroyed the giant snowball before it could approach you. You waved your wand vivaciously and tiny snowballs about the size of chocolate frogs ambushed him from all sides.
Newt struggled beneath the attack, but he was unable to gather his wits in the firefight. At last he shouted, “You win! You win! I surrender!”
With a swish the ambush ceased. You strode toward him, tossing your scarf over your shoulder in victory. “I win for the second time tonight, Scamander. You’re off your game.”
Newt looked like he was trying not to smile. “Consider it Christmas spirit. I’m feeling gracious.”
You reached out and dusted some of the snow from his hair. “Perhaps. Or perhaps that’s just an excuse.”
“Perhaps.” His voice turned quiet. You were suddenly aware of how close you two were.
“Well, as the winner, I should get some kind of prize, don’t you think?” you said.
He’d been staring at the ground, avoiding prolonged eye contact as he usually did, but now his gaze snapped up to meet yours. “Yes. I suppose so.”
Your heart had begun to thump erratically and you weren’t exactly sure why. It cut through your puckish bravado, stilling your thoughts and making them run wild all at once. He was close enough that you could smell the comforting scent of the fire sunk into his cloak and see the remains of snow still stuck to his eyelashes.
Newt wasn’t looking at your eyes anymore. He was looking at your lips.
He’s my friend, you thought. He had been for years. But if he was simply that, why were you suddenly feeling this way?
Your head leaned closer to him ever so infinitesimally. His did the same, as if compelled by some external power. Perhaps it was the magic in the air or even the spirit of Christmas, but you didn’t allow yourself to think about what you did next.
You took him by the scarf and kissed him.
You felt a flicker of surprise go through his body, and if you were being honest, you were surprised too. But in the next moment his stiffness melted away and he sank deeper into the kiss. One of his hands came up to cup your face ever so delicately as if you were a dream made of snow that would swirl away in an instant.
It seemed that you two stood there for hours, yet once you pulled away it felt that less than seconds had passed. You and Newt appeared to be locked in place by each other’s gaze, breaths coming short in little white clouds. He was blushing so profoundly that his cheeks were almost as red as his hair. He took a shaky breath and leaned forward again, and you could sense the insatiable desire that had now awoken within him, how one kiss seemed to open doors to a million thoughts and longings the both of you had stored so deeply within that you hadn’t ever acknowledged it.
Your lips had barely met for the second time when something furry barged its way in front of your face. Both you and Newt stumbled back, startled. Then you erupted into laughter.
“A jealous one, are you?” you snatched Teddy from where he’d run atop your head and poked him in the side. He warbled indignantly.
Chuckling, you looked back up at Newt. A grin was plastered on his face that was so broad you truly believed it had the capacity to light a shooting star.
You stepped closer to him and set Teddy on his shoulder, wrapping the Niffler up in Newt’s scarf. Your fingers lingered on his chest for a moment before you turned your eyes to the ground, feeling heat sweep your cheeks.
“That was a pretty good reward,” you said bashfully.
“You should win more often,” mumbled Newt. You two would have probably stood there smiling at the ground like idiots for the rest of the night if Teddy hadn’t released a chirp of impatience.
“He must be cold,” Newt bundled the Niffler underneath his cloak.
“To the village?” you suggested.
“To the village,” he agreed.
You two set off on the path you’d been on before, and even though it had to be nearly midnight by now, the moon and stars seemed to shine brighter, and the Christmas lights decorating Hogsmeade Village twinkled with greater joy. As you walked, you felt Newt’s hand brush yours. You slid your fingers into his and the connection sent pleasant shivers up your arm.
You came upon a homely pub with a sign out front that read THREE BROOMSTICKS INN. Newt held the door open for you and the delicious scent of peppermint eggnog and baked frosted pastries wafted out to the street.
Despite how quiet the street had been, the pub was bursting with customers, all huddled in groups or pairs, all sipping some heavenly hot beverage that warmed your stomach by its very smell. Deep-bellied laughter echoed off the wooden beams of the arched roof. A cozy fire crackled in the great hearth.
You ordered two hot butterbeers and sat on the floor in front of the fire. Newt sat next to you, and as soon as he did Teddy scampered out of his scarf and into your lap.
“Traitor,” Newt whispered, but his voice was so innocent it made you grin.
The butterbeers came round and you wanted to bathe yourself in its warmth. As the two of you took blessedly long sips, you sighed and rested your head on Newt’s shoulder. Earlier tonight, you had been sitting and staring at a similar fire, thinking about how you’d be alone on Christmas Eve. And while all your friends and house mates would be surrounded by family tomorrow morning, opening their gifts, you knew that you had gotten the best gift of all.
“Thank you, Newt,” you murmured.
He blinked. “For what?”
“For being you,” you said. “For being here when no one else was.”
He was quiet for a long time. Eventually he said, “Merry Christmas, (Y/N).”
“Merry Christmas, Newt.”
The two of you sat by the fire so long that you had nearly drifted to sleep on his shoulder. The other customers were singing carols and clinking glasses, and in that moment, you wouldn’t rather be anywhere else.
The next thing you knew, Newt was gently nudging you awake. You looked up, rubbing sleep from your eyes, at a bundled, slim young man with a head of dark hair covered by a winter hat. Perhaps you were just incredibly sleepy, but he had a striking resemblance to Newt.
He knelt to get on your level. “What am I going to do with you, Newt?” He ruffled Newt’s hair. “Missed the train? Really?”
Newt just smiled. “You came back for me?”
“I can’t very well leave you here for Christmas, can I?” The young man turned his eyes to you. “I’m Theseus. Newt’s brother.”
“(Y/N),” you said.
Theseus looked between you and Newt, a sly grin creeping up his face. “Would you like to come with us?” he asked.
“Come with you? Where?”
“Home,” Theseus said simply.
You glanced at Newt. He was staring at your lips again. He looked up to meet your eyes. “Please,” he said quietly.
You thought you might melt into a frosty puddle right there on the floor. “I would love that. Very much.”
“Alright then.” Theseus offered you a hand and pulled you to your feet. He patted his brother’s shoulder. “Left in Hogwarts on Christmas. Just like my brother. Shall we?”
You slung your arm around Newt’s. “We shall.”

Late Night Cutie Pie
Newt Scamander X Knight Bus Worker! Reader
((Can be read as platonic))
While working on the bus, a famous little face pops itself into the open doors. A sweetheart that’s been stressed out of his mind, and you do what you do best. Help those in need. Along with show you might have a talent for Nifflers, on top of a talent for flustering Magizoologists
Warnings: very adorable fluff, tooth rotting fluff, fluster newt, newt being painfully adorable, and of course TEDDY SHENANIGANS
Tumblr media
“Ooooo we got a celebrity joining us tonight-!” You heard you coworker, a talking head, shout to you. You wondered who that could be, as you finished tidying up the beds. Ready for whatever lost soul is needing a good rest. Pillows fluffed, blankets laid out, and wheels oiled to keep people from flying.
“Oh no no. Im not celebrity-“ A almost timid voice would speak, as you hurried down from the upper floor. Once your shoes hit the ground, your eyes went wide with who they landed on. A man in a blue jacket, fluffy hair, and a suit case in hand. Newt Scamander. In the flesh.
“No way-“ You whispered, before those big blue eyes were on you. He gave a shy little wave, before rummaging in his pocket. Pulling out his ticket, and snapping you back to reality. As instinct, you were quick to sort it out. Not even needing to look at your hands, as you kept them on him. Snip, snap, POP, done!
“Normally we never pry, but uh. What’s a guy like you doing on a bus like ours-?” You asked. You were a Knight Bus Worker. You had to be social, after all. So being direct with people, no matter the face, is an important skill to have. One that was leaving him embarrassed.
“Well, seems you know who I am. Guess you can kinda put two and two together. Not many people trust that I’ll keep my friends under control.” He admits, with a smile that said it hurt him. They were animals. Not their fault after all. You won’t lie, though. It’s touching how he would simply turn those people away. Compared to following their rules, and leaving his friends behind.
“I mean, we’ve had the shadiest people come on here. Better to have Hippogriff shit on the bed than human shit. Least with a bird like that, you know they couldn’t help it.” You would put, rather bluntly, which had him smile. Knowing he wouldn’t be a burden to anyone on the bus, given you were being very direct with him. Compared to sugar coating, or babying him because of his Hufflepuff nature. People tended to do that, and even he was getting annoyed. A welcome change it was.
“I’ll take you to the upper floor, so you can have more room. Not a lot of people go up there, because of motion sickness. So you’ll have plenty of room to stretch your legs-!” You comforted, as you were making his night. A place to actually rest, and work with his care. You were just his angel. He wanted to hug you so badly, and you can tell with his arms tensing. Once a Hufflepuff, always a Hufflepuff.
“Bring it in-“ You reassured, and he nearly lifted you off the ground. Made you wheeze, but you couldn’t deny it. Hufflepuffs gave the best hugs. Not many people liked to treat you more than part of the bus, so it was a very nice change. Felt good to get a hug.
“Truly, I am so grateful. Be nice to sleep in a bed for a while. Not to say I do not enjoy nature, but we all live in certain environments for a reason after all." The older man said, when he finally set you free. Must be so hard, world traveling. Maybe he was home sick, so he was back in England for a while. Maybe animals were in need. Who knows! You just know he needed rest.
"Come on up then." You would escort him to the second floor of the double decker bus, and would lead him to a freshly made bed. You also made sure the frame was secure, wheels smooth, anything that could cause issues in his stay. Just wanting him to get some rest. As you did, you were not aware of Newt having a panic attack behind you. The moment you turned; he quickly hid his suitcase. Smiling big, with eyes darting everywhere.
"Doing alright? Seem a bit shaken, what's up?" You asked, as he keeps his nervous smile. A tug at his collar, before his eyes were now staring at something behind you. That made you raise a brow, before you slowly turned around. Just as you did, something jumped on you. You gave a shout, before you were tumbling into the once Hufflepuff. Both of you crashing to the ground.
"TEDDY-! NO! WEVE BEEN OVER THIS-!" You heard him shout, as you were helped up. Now you had a niffler choking you out, given he was dangling off your lanyard. Now knowing it was a niffler, you weren't upset. Your lanyard had many shiny pins and buttons. It can't be helped.
"Aw, you want a pin?" You cooed, as you soon scooped the little gremlin into your arms. Him still holding the lanyard, as Newt calmed down. Surprised to see Teddy calm as well. Just looking up at you with those big eyes. Sparkling with desire. You knew what to do, given many a child has ridden the bus. For one reason or another.
"Here is a nice shiny pin, all for you." You smiled, as you rummaged in your pocket. Soon you had a pin in hand, designed to look like the knight bus. With glittery windows, that made it sparkle like stars. That had the niffler let go of the lanyard, and make grabby hands for the pin. Into his tiny hands it went, and he hugged it tightly. A little chirp of happiness, before it went into his pouch. Safe and sound. Now he was satisfied, for the time being.
"Amazing..." Newt whispered, before he would take Teddy back. The little guy was quick to pull the new possession out, and showed it to his dad. Newt gave a 'ooo' and his eyes sparkled all the same. Just like a father, to a toddler. Melted your heart, to see a bond. How he kissed Teddy's head, and he gave chirps of joy.
"You have a talent for animals, I can see it clear as day. Teddy is always a handful, but like that you had it under control. No panic, and quick to find a solution. Amazing." He praised you, resulting a heavy blush on your face. What a praise and honor it was. Newt Scamander, praising your skills.
"Toddlers and nifflers are basically the same thing." You brushed off, before the bus was quick to make its sharp stop. You didnt move a inch, of course, but the father and son went flying. You winced, when Newt slammed into the window. He did, however, made sure to keep teddy wrapped around his arms. Pressed into his chest, so that the little thing suffered as little damage as possible. Such a pure soul.
"There is a reason we have complinetry sleeping potions and pain killers. Check the bedside table, back to work I go!" You waved goodbye, with Teddy waving bye as well. Since his dad was busy with new back pain.
Just like how it always was. Taking tickets, escorting newbies, comforting lost children, punching a drunk here and there. A typical night for the bus. As it was getting closer to the end of your shift, you would go and check on the famous celebrity. Up the stairs, and to the second floor.
There he was. His brief case locked to the bed frame, with an enchanted chain, and his coat hung up. His face pressed into the pillow, showing his knocked out face. Drooling, in a much needed rest. All the while little Teddy was snuggled close to his father. His face tucked under the man’s chin, and tiny hands hugging his dress shirt close. Safe, under the man’s arm.
You would sneak over, and make sure the blanket was pulled high enough for him and Teddy. Poor souls needed it. You wouldn’t be surprised if he would spend a few nights here. As if you would complain. The company would be needed, and who knows. Maybe a Pest Control guy would be needed. Sure get wild animagi coming in sometimes.
With Newt tucked in, and adjusting the pillow for Teddy, you would return down the stairs. All to be teased by that talking head for growing overly friendly with the celebrity. All it took was a flick, and he was spinning. That had you laugh, as you stretched.
Never a dull night, on that bus.

I'd love to go as in detail with your request as I did with this little story, perhaps even more in-depth! It's pretty much up to you :) Now, Enjoy!
_ _ _
You were never a fan of the way they presented people’s houses. They were loud, obnoxious, and worst of all, embarrassing. You dreaded watching people getting sorted into houses, the lackluster applause when someone was sorted into Slytherin, and the unparalleled favoritism when someone was sorted into Griffindor. You were judged from the very start, based on a title.
It’s your third year at Hogwarts, one you were dreading. You never made many friends during your prior years, and it didn’t feel like this year was any different. Aside from the casual friends you’d made in classes like Charms, Potions, and Astronomy, there wasn’t much to look forward to in terms of interaction.
That was before you walked into your “Care of Magical Creatures” class.
Professor Kettleburn stood in a clearing, surrounded by a strew of familiar faces. Faces that would probably stare at you with a blank look if you called them out by name. Which you could. You just don’t feel like getting stared at.
You were outside of the Forbidden Forest, a little too close for comfort. Your eyes watched the shadows in the forest, flickering as the wind moved the branches. It was eerie, as if something was looking back at you. You watched the forest for a while longer, settling down onto the grass like some of your peers. The professor had yet to acknowledge anyone, as he watched a separate spot of the forest. Times like this were when you wished you remembered to pack a watch, rather than leaving it on the corner of your bedstand back home.
Your fingers picked at the dirt in front of you, glad that your uniform consisted of mainly dark colors so they wouldn’t be too badly stained. The grass rustled a couple of feet from you as another student sat in the grass. You watched them out of the corner of your eye, curiosity lingering in the back of your mind.
His hair ran over his eyes, a jumble of messy brown locks atop his head. His face was covered in freckles that made random patterns along his face. His eyes darted towards you for a second before he straightened and resumed watching the forest. You smiled, his frightened nature endearing in a way.
You scooted over, your socks picking up random dirt along the way. You paid it no mind, stopping once you sat next to your target.
“Isn’t the forest mysterious?” You spoke, startling him once more. You laughed, quickly covered by a cough. He nodded meekly, seeming to curl in on himself. You waited a few more seconds before realizing he wouldn’t speak unless you prompted it.
“Newt, right? Newt,” You pause, trying to remember his last name. Yet with each passing second of awkward stuttering, you slowly stop talking and swallow harshly. You clench a fist, groaning internally at what a fool you are to forget someone’s last name, right to their face.
“Scamander.” You look at Newt, his face a bright red. You light up, happy to get a response. “Scamander! That’s- It was on the tip of my tongue, I tell you,” You chuckle, rapping your knuckles on your sides.
“I’m (y/n). (y/n) (l/n),” You watched him smile, looking at you once more and darting his eyes away. The wind blew past the both of you, people’s voices rising around you. You turned around with an eyebrow raised. People were talking amongst themselves, at a considerable distance from you and Newt, may you add. They were all staring at the Professor intermittently, who’s now produced a notebook and is furiously scribbling into it.
You turned back around, clicking your tongue. “So… why are you taking this class?
Newt nodded slowly, shrugging. You watched him, waiting for a reply. He stared at the ground for a little too long for comfort, but you held onto the hope for a response. Your gaze drifted back to the chatter behind you, everyone’s conversations coming with relative ease. Well, of course, they’ve known each other for the better part of two years at this point. They had good social skills, skills you had yet to acquire. It’s no wonder that Newt would barely talk to-
“I l-like magical creatures. They’re f…fascinating.” Newt stuttered his way through the sentence, all while keeping his face a beet-red as he stared at the ground. You laughed, bumping your shoulders together.
“Well, to each his own. I just picked this class cause in all fairness, who wants to take muggle studies?” You shudder in mock horror, pulling your knees to your chest as the wind delivers a chill down your spine. Newt laughed softly, his deathlike grip on his robes loosened, perhaps a sign that he was warming up to you.
He opened his mouth before he was interrupted by a book slamming. You turned around to find Professor Kettleburn staring at the class, his finger on his lip. “Everyone, stay completely still.” You froze, the wind ruffling your tie in the breeze. Your eyes followed Kettleburn as he jumped into a series of random, jerky movements. His hair flipped around, whilst his robes hung off of his shoulders, falling faster with each action. You caught a glance at a mess of greens in Kettleburn’s non-human hand as he extended it into the empty clearing.
Everyone seemed to be on the edge of their seats, leaning in to see what he could be feeding. People gasped once they saw Kettleburn’s metal fingers pried apart. A small grey creature revealed itself from thin air, its eyes fixated on the food in front of it. You look back to Newt, whose eyes were open wide in amazement.
You smiled, turning back to watch Kettleburn swoop the creature into his arms, cradling it like a baby as it ate. He turned to the class, a broad smile on his face. “Now, can anyone tell me what the name of this creature is?”
Immediately, you saw Newt’s hand raise. No one else bothered, too fixated on the strange animal in front of them.
“Ah, yes, Mr. Scamander?”
“It’s a Demiguise! Ah- Sir,” He corrected himself quickly, looking back at the ground once more. You felt some kids around you bristle, someone coughed ‘Nerd’ somewhere to your left. You shot the area a dirty look, but the professor paid them no attention.
“Correct, Mr. Scamander! This, my students, is the rare Demiguise. It is highly reveled in many communities, mainly for its fur and ability for precognitive sight, or as you all know it, predicting the future.” He smiled, the ecstatic grin on his face looking menacing with the odd mustache he wore.
“Fur?” You mumbled, tilting your head in confusion.
“They can make invisibility cloaks. Or- so I’ve r-read.” Newt whispered behind you, coughing to cover the sound of his stuttering. You turned around to smile at him, leaning in slightly.
“So you’ve read?” You whispered back, raising an eyebrow in slight amusement. Newt flushed even harder than he had already been prior and began to pull at his tie.
“I told you, I- Uh, I really like m-magical creatures.”
He smiled at you, and you smiled back. Maybe, you’d have a friend this year.
Class ended relatively quick, maybe too quick for your liking.
Newt lingered awkwardly, a brown satchel hung on his waist that seemed to have come out of thin air. You got to your feet, brushing off the dead grass on your uniform.
“What’s your next class?’ You inquired, walking to the nearest entrance to the school side by side with Newt. He shuffled a crumpled paper out of his robe pocket, pausing to smooth it out on his leg.
“Um, I think- I have Charms n-next. Yeah.” Newt smiled, pursing his lips into a tight line. You glanced at your schedule, frowning slightly.
“I’ve got Herbology next,” You paused before the both of you walked inside Hogwarts. “You mind if I compare our schedules?’ You held a hand out and stepped aside to give other people room to walk through the doors. Newt seemed slightly worried, his hand shook as he handed the schedule to you. You took note of it but moved on to comparing the two papers.
A glance over revealed the two of you shared multiple classes.
“Hey!” You looked up, smiling. “We’ve got Defense Against The Dark Arts, Potions, and Astronomy together! How about that?”
Newt looked slightly shocked, stunned even, but smiled nonetheless. “That’s- great!” He stuck his hands in his pocket, rocking back and forth. You folded the papers back up, handing his schedule back. He nodded, heading inside. Some small talk later and you parted ways, the moving stairs taking the green-eyed boy from your sights.
You sighed, heading to Herbology. At least you had a couple of things to look forward to today.
Lunch rolled around faster than expected, with you getting out of Transfiguration fairly unharmed. Your robes, sadly, couldn’t say the same. Charred on the edges due to the unfortunate mishap that was the Draconifors Spell. You couldn't understand the appeal of creating a bunch of little dragons that wanted to eat your fingers. And, burn your clothes.
You made it to the mess hall, the familiarity of sitting alone was trickling back slowly, but surely. Your eyes wandered around, before catching onto a familiar head of messy curls. Your mouth curls upwards into a coy smile. Newt, who seemed to have a sixth sense of sorts, raised his head to catch your gaze. He smiled quickly before turning back down to his food.
You slinked up behind him, dropping onto the bench next to him. You got a couple of looks from the people around you but ignored them.
“Hey! How was Charms?” Newt seemed startled that you even bothered to sit with him, much less talk to him. He shrugged, picking at his half-eaten food.
“It was decent. We uh- learned about the Cheering Charm.” You tilted your head, and as you did, Newt flicked his wand at you, muttering under his breath. You were suddenly overcome by an urge to cheer, and well, that’s exactly what you did. You got to your feet, hooting and hollering like a madman. Your eyes widened, mortification rolling over you in waves. And yet, you couldn’t stop your cheering. Everyone’s eyes turned to you in confusion, as well as some professors who had just walked into the mess hall.
As soon as the urge faded, you shut up promptly and sat back down. Your face was flushed, a tremble running through your legs despite having sat down already. You turned to Newt, an expression of shock across your face. He was smiling to himself but quickly turned serious.
“Sorry, I- I thought it would be easier to s-show rather than tell,” Newt mumbled, his quirky half smile on his face. You couldn’t stay too mad toward your new friend.
“Nah, it’s cool. Just… never do it again,” You bumped his shoulder and laughed, then reached for the nearest plate full of food. His eyes watched as ash fluttered between your shoulders, falling onto the table. Newt raised an eyebrow, as he realized your fingers were scratched and bruised.
“I- What happened there?” He pointed, his fingers brushing against yours. You both straightened at the touch and you prayed to all the gods out there that your face wasn’t a bright red.
“Oh, you know. Transfiguration and uh, mini-dragons.” You wiggled your eyebrows, taking a bite out of your lunch.
Newt nodded along as if mini-dragons weren’t out of the ordinary for him. “You know, (y/n), I’ve got some band-aids somewhere. I could… give you some. If you wanted,” He coughed, rubbing his forearm.
“I’d love that, Newt!” You exclaimed cheerfully, as Newt began to ruffle through his bag. He produced a few spare bandaids, with little designs on a few. You pulled them closer to you, realizing they weren’t designs, rather, they were drawings of magical creatures. A little crude and simplistic but they were recognizable nonetheless.
“My mom, uh, she drew these. Just something to get me through my day and stuff. That one’s my favorite,” Newt pointed to a drawing of a Bowtruckle, a creature you’ve only seen in books. Your smile widens discreetly as Newt fidgets with the band-aid. It was kinda adorable watching Newt gush over creatures, even if he’d only done it a couple of times with you. Still cute nonetheless.
At this point Newt is watching you, his lips parted with a slight airiness to him. You say to him, “Is there something on my face?” while gesturing to your mouth. He shakes his head, tapping the table.
“Which one do you… want?” You look at the doodled on band-aids, before looking back at Newt.
“Whichever one you think looks best,” You say, hoping he chooses something nice. He does, in fact, and picks up the Bowtruckle one. He holds it out, expecting you to take it, but you instead wave your fingers around.
“You don’t expect me to put it on, do you? I’m so clearly eating!” You gasp in fake outrage, while your plate goes mostly untouched. Newt turned red, mumbling an apology as he grabbed your hand hurriedly. He jumped as if realizing how fast he grabbed your hand, but kept a firm grip on you as he applied the band-aid. The bandaid goes over your fingers like a little ring you could look at all day. You make a mental note to treasure the band-aid forever.
Newt finishes wrapping it, his hands lingering on yours for a few seconds. You almost sigh once he takes them back and places them in his lap. He’s really too nice to you.
You realized that most of the students around you are filtering out slowly. Your eyes look around the room, and it seems as if the next class is starting, really soon in fact. Newt caught onto it as well, and the pair of you start cleaning up.
“Don’t we have the next couple of periods together?” You handed Newt the rest of his bandaids, his hands soft compared with yours.
“Um, mostly. I’ve got a free period while you have History of Magic,” You pause, your eyebrows raised as Newt waited for you to get up.
“I- uh, got a look at your schedule earlier.” He offered up, smiling as you both walked towards Potions.
“Aw, well, don’t get too happy. You’ve still gotta see this face for two more classes,” You gesture to yourself, smiling, and in turn, almost run into a wall. Newt holds back a small laugh before straightening up. You grumble, pushing him softly.
“Not funny.”
“I beg to differ.”
Potions passed by without a hitch, especially since Newt is your partner. The both of you made a good pair, aside from when you tripped over air and almost knocked Newt down as well. He laughed it off but you still felt guilty.
He walked you to your History of Magic classroom, as you coaxed him to ramble about his other classes. You learned some more about Newt on that walk, a happy feeling bubbling to your chest as he divulged more to you. You learned that his brother’s name was Theseus and that he loved the color green. You learned that you weren’t his first friend at Hogwarts but had already made it onto his list of tolerable people. You scoffed at that, proclaiming that you’d make it onto a better list in due time. Newt assured you that it looked like it was heading that way. You spent the rest of the walk in awkward silence, wishing each other goodbye as you reached your class.
History of Magic couldn’t have gone by slower, especially with your teacher’s mundane voice. You breathed a sigh of relief as your class was dismissed. You sped out the door, realizing you and Newt had never set a plan as to where you would meet. Luckily that problem was solved as soon as it appeared.
Newt sat next to your class doorway, sleeping against the cool stone wall. You walked back to him, standing in front of him. You nudged his leg, prompting him to wake up, his eyes wide open in fear. It quickly faded as he looked up at you, worry replaced with a shy smile.
“Hey silly, you didn’t have to wait here.”
“I had the period off. Thought I’d- wait. Didn’t have anything else to do so, um-,” Newt picked at his fingers, awkwardness threatening to seem back into the conversation.
“I- That was really sweet of you Newt. Honestly,” You offered him a hand, and he took it graciously. You hoisted him up and helped him pick his stuff off the ground.
“Ah, thanks (y/n),” The pair of you headed down to Defense Against The Dark Arts together, joking around.
As it turns out, Newt is really good at Defense Against The Dark Arts. Like, to an almost unfunny degree. You watched him in class, amazed as he completed task after task without a hitch. As he began to pack his things up, you leaned in to whisper, “Holy crap. When were you going to reveal you were an actual god at this?”
He just laughed you off, pulling at his tie.
“I- I’m not a god. It just makes. Sense,” You nodded along as if you understood what he meant.
After class, you hung around for a little to finish writing some notes. Newt had been the only one to write comprehensible notes between the two of you, and you’d promised yourself you weren’t going to fail Charms as badly as you did last year.
“You think we could just… skip Astronomy?” Newt mumbled as you scribbled down words. You looked up, dumbfounded, pausing your writing to give Newt a wide-eyed stare.
“Did you just ask to- skip class? Who are you? And what have you done to Newt?” You point a finger at him accusingly, his face turning a bright red.
“I-! I just don’t like Astronomy that much. It’s- It’s not my cup of tea,” You still couldn’t believe what you were hearing. Out of all the classes, the one about space, space, is the one your new friend doesn’t like.
“Newt, you’re killing me here,” You groan, shoving your notes into a bag. Then the two of you proceed to haul ass to Astronomy.
The next couple of weeks went swimmingly, much to your delight. Your grades are up in classes, and you’ve grown considerably close to a certain green-eyed boy. You spent nearly every day together, he helped you with Defense Against The Dark Arts and Creature Care, and you kept him from jumping off the nearest tower because of Astronomy. Which was pretty easy, Newt just didn’t have the attention span to sit and stare at “dots in the sky,” as he so lovingly put it.
You found yourself drawn to him regardless. There was truly something about him. Maybe it was the way he’d laugh at your poorly constructed jokes, Maybe it was the way he’d cheer up when you sat next to him, his smile making the sun pale in comparison. Or maybe it was the way your fingers would brush against his, and he’d jump as if he’d seen a ghost, only to realize it was just you. Then he’d push his hand closer to yours, right until your hands were side by side.
There was a warm feeling in the pit of your stomach that you couldn’t explain, and it grew hotter when Newt was near. How you longed to chase that fiery feeling, put his lips against your own, hand in your hand.
But perhaps it would just be your little fantasy, nothing more.
You sat criss-cross on the stone floor of the Astronomy “classroom”. It was just a secluded area on a castle tower, without any kind of roof. There, your class would learn about stars while the late autumn winds pulled at your robes, tangling your ties. Newt was next to you, mirroring your seating position. His knees touched yours but neither of you felt like moving. The Astronomy professor was wrapping up class right about then, explaining your homework for the night. You leaned into Newt, his soft hair tickling your nose as you did.
“Hey, Newt,” You whispered, taking your fingers and walking them down your leg. He hummed back in response, his eyes flickering to your fingers as they moved about.
“You wanna do something fun later?”
He gave you a side eye, a tired expression on his face. A couple of weeks with you, and you showed him just exactly what “fun” meant to you.
“If this fun activity involves sneaking out again, I think I’m going to pass (y/n).”
You groan, flopping your head onto his shoulder. You felt him tense underneath you, a sign that he was trying his hardest not to give into you.
“But I’ve got to show you something. Please? Pretty please?” You nudged him, causing him to exhale loudly. He brushed you off, an amused look on his face. “Alright. But if we get caught, you’re taking the blame,” He smiled his lopsided grin, pushing you playfully.
“Why, of course,” You shot back, an even bigger grin on your face.
Sneaking out after curfew was like second nature to you and Newt at this point. He’d been dragged along with you too many times to count that he’d picked up on your little tricks. The two of you tip-toed around the castle, Newt following you blindly as you still hadn’t explained where you were going.
“(y/n), you seriously can’t do this to me! Come on, where are we going?” He begged, making sure to keep his voice down. You kept quiet though, his pleas falling on deaf ears.
The two of you eventually reached your destination, the Astronomy tower. You turned back to Newt, whose face had fallen as he realized where the two of you were.
“Are you kidding me? (y/n), if this is your idea of a joke-” You stopped his ranting by grabbing his wrist and pulling him onto the floor. He tumbled awkwardly, and you winced, whispering an apology.
“Alright, I know you hate stars but, I’m a big fan of second chances. And you, my good sir, are the proud owner of a second chance tonight.” You pat the ground next to you as you lay down on the cold stone. The two of you had changed out of your uniforms, wearing casual sleeping clothes. The weather was nice tonight, with +a warm breeze blowing around the two of you.
Newt laid down next to you, his uninterested eyes panning across the vast sky.
“All I see is a whole lot of sky. Not really anything worth getting in trouble for.”
You scoffed, rolling your eyes. You and Newt were a couple of inches apart, yet you prayed he couldn’t feel the heat radiating off of you in waves.
“I wanted to show you this constellation. It uh- it kinda reminded me of us,” Newt stayed quiet as he watched you lift your wand. You recited a spell you had memorized just a few hours prior, and to your surprise, it worked. A glowing light emitted from your wand, silky strands of white floated over your heads and arranged themselves in a pattern.
“See, the spell is supposed to show you a constellation. It shapes it out so everyone can see it,” You whispered, the dull light shining across your face.
Soon, it stopped in your desired form. Newt coughed uneasily, rubbing his nose.
“Uh, what’s it supposed to be?”
“It’s Andromeda and Perseus. They’re part of an old Greek myth,” You murmured, your eyes entranced by the figure above you.
“He saved her from a sea monster, you know. She was supposed to be a human sacrifice to the monster, but he came in and saved her, and her people. They got married soon after, and had a girl.”
“Cassiopeia,” Newt muttered, his voice soft and quiet. You turned your head over to him, and he did the same.
“What? I’m quite brushed up on Greek Mythology, I’ll have you know. Still doesn’t explain why you dragged me out here though,” He trailed off, a hard look in his eyes.
“Well, I just thought it was … romantic. Something for us to look at together, or something,” You shut your eyes in embarrassment, your attempt at woo-ing Newt going a little awry.
All you heard for the next few minutes was the wind, slowly dying down, and Newt’s slow, even breathing.
You peaked an eye, wondering if your friend had fallen asleep. He hadn’t, rather, he was looking up at the sky. The spell had worn off, leaving the two of you in darkness, the only light coming from the night sky.
“I don’t think that was very romantic, (y/n). You pretty much gave me a history lesson,” A light airiness was in Newt’s voice as he mock scolded you. He lifted a hand, pointing to a cluster of stars.
“There. That’s romantic. Those stars make a little heart. You should’ve shown me that instead,” Your face flushed, as you followed Newt’s line of sight. You shifted closer to him, your eyes struggling to find the simple shape.
“Newt, I don’t-,” You paused, feeling his warm hand enclose your own. You stopped speaking, your heart beating loudly in your ears. Your hand felt warm inside of Newt’s, safe. The two of you fit like puzzle pieces, finishing that grand picture. Your world spun, everything slowing and suddenly feeling right. This felt right. Newt felt right.
“(y/n), are you still having trouble finding it?” Newt’s voice was barely louder than a whisper, but it echoed in your skull.
“No, Newt. I think I found it. And you’re right, it’s much more romantic,” He smiled, squeezing your hand. And you smiled back, because it felt right.

newt scamander x gn!reader
Tumblr media
summary: you meet someone and can't help but shake the feeling that you've met them before.
words: 1.2k ish
warnings: angst, fluff, badly written blurb from a long time ago lol
You walked onto the sidewalk outside of your apartment complex and watched the people in front of you whisp by in a rush. The cars flooded every which way on the street   only feet away from you. It was two hours before you were expected at your job in a bakery. You dodged every passing car until you got the the other side of the road, where a bank was. A woman stood on the stairs in protest to everything to do with magic. She yelled that they existed, and it was being hidden from the nonwizard. You rolled your eyes and smirked.
"Poppycock," You murmured to yourself. You were never one to believe in magic; a pessimist, really. You were watching the woman instead of where you were walking. As you turned to walk around the bank, you ran into someone head on. The impact was aggressive enough that you both dropped your suitcases.
"Oh, dear- I'm so sorry- I wasn't paying attention- I-" You cut yourself off once your eyes met his. His eyes widened with shock. You couldn't help but smile, and you didn't know why. But when you looked into his hazel eyes, that's all you could do. His red hair was covering his face, and that miraculously made you blush even harder.
"T-terribly sorry, Miss," He bent down to pick up his suitcase and handed yours over to you.
"Thank you- I-..." He walked away briskly before you could ask him anything. You couldn't stop smiling. Something about seeing him made you blush and want to cry out of happiness at the same time. You turned around and watched him watch the protest. A small, woodland, green creature stuck its head out of the collar of his trench coat. It blinked at you.
"Pickett," You blurted out, as if something had forced you to say it. You covered your mouth in confusion.
Newt was trying not to look at you with every fiber in his very being. He had obliviated the only person he had ever promised to love, and now she was back. But this time, it felt like he didn't even know you himself. Two years of lost communication and regret, and so much had happened. You got a job and were promoted to manager. You made money, moved out of your parents house, rented out an apartment, and even managed to date every once and a while. You never had a relationship, though. You always felt as though you had already met your soulmate and lost your chance. You just didn't know whom it was.
You slowly made your way to through the crowd in an attempt to follow the man. He was only a few feet away from you once you were forcefully shoved out of the crowd. You continued walking and watching him as his coat swayed from side to side.
"Sir?" You called after him. "Do I know you?" You asked loudly, finally catching up to him. He kept walking.
"You don't know me," He said in a sternly, his voice almost sounding pained.
"No, I know you from somewhere," You searched your mind for any possible memory of him. It felt like you had a dream about him, like he wasn't even real as he was still walking in front of you.
"You don't know me, now please stop following me," His voice sounded genuine, but, somehow, you know that he was keeping something from you. You gripped his shoulder and turned him around to face you. Your eyes met again, and you couldn't help but smile at him. Your eyes even brimmed with tears. He stopped himself from smiling back, and his face turned to sheer terror.
"I don't know why I'm so happy to see you," You cried softly. "I know you...I know I do-" He cut you off.
"You don't know me! Please, just leave me be!" He shouted at you, his voice broken up. It hurt him more than it hurt you when he yelled at you. Your face immediately dropped into a frown., and your tears of joy turned into tears of hurt.
"You keep saying that...but not once have you said that you don't know..." Your voice trailed off, and your face softened. Memories started flooding back into your mind.
"He seems to really like you," Newt said with a smile as Pickett climbed up your arm and into your coat. His little legs felt like a spider's as he played on your shoulders. You looked up at Newt as he carefully watched Pickett. He returned the gaze and blushed. "You're cute," You murmured to him, making his cheeks turn a deeper shade of pink.
"...me," You finally finished your sentence when you came out do your daze.
"N-Newt," You stammered out. His facial expression dropped.
"How did you-" You cut him off this time.
"I remembered...dear god, I remember you!" You began to sob with happiness again.
"Newt! I'm so happy to see you! Oh my god- I don't know what to do with myself," You chuckled. "God- Newt Scamander! I missed you deeply!" You continued, hugging his neck. He didn't say anything. He just hugged you back and weeped into your chest quietly.
Then, it all came flooding back.
Newt was two steps below you, shrinking to your height as you stood at the edge of obliviation.
"You don't have to do this," Newt said to you, still holding your hand.
"No, no, Newt, I do...it is for your protection, and..." You ran your free hand through his hair. "You know that I would do anything to keep you safe, Newt Scamander," You turned and faced the pouring rain. You stepped forward, but Newt pulled you back, turning you around to face him once again.
"Allow me to make one last promise to you," He began. "I promise, that for as long as I live...I will always love you, even if I never meet you again. I promise to love you forever, Y/F/N  Y/L/N," A single tear streamed down his cheek. Within the last three days, Newt Scamander had given you the most magical experience of your entire life. You wiped the tear and kissed his nose.
"It's funny how the most magical moments of my life...I'll never remember," You smiled painfully, not letting go of him.
"You don't have to forget, Y/N," He began. "We can travel together, we can go wherever you want to go," He searched his mind for more to say. "I'll keep you in my suitcase if I have to," You chuckled and backed away from him. You could see how desperate he was to keep you with him in his eyes. "Please don't go...please," He begged for you to say. His chin began to quiver. "Please stay, Y/N-- I need you," You shook your head as a tear fell down your cheek.
"You don't need me, Newt...I'm just a muggle," His lips parted when you said this.
"You were never just a muggle to me, Y/N," You couldn't keep arguing with him.
"Goodbye, Newt Scamamnder...I promise to always love you too," You stepped out into the rain, letting every drop hit your face. He expanded an umbrella from his wand and covered the both of you. He pushed back your wet hair and planted a kiss on your lips. You wrapped your arms around his waist, and kissed back.
"I'll always love you, Y/F/N  Y/L/N,"  He stepped back, letting the rain obliviate you. When you opened your eyes, he had vanished.

You and Newt have been close since your days at Hogwarts, and you were both sorted to the Hufflepuff house.
When he was with you, Newt was the sweetest. He always cracked jokes to lighten the mood and showed you his creatures, which you played with.
He was more than welcome to share a place with you after you graduated from Hogwarts.
Because to your mutual love of nature and wish to live outside of the city, you both agreed to purchase a cottage close to the countryside.
While you opened a grocery store in the countryside that was embellished with hanging potted plants, lights, and creepers, Newt began collecting magical creatures and keeping them in his suitcase with the help of Bunty.
You both earned decent incomes, enough to satisfy your respective needs for food, clothing, and other essentials.
Both your friends and Newt's friends came over occasionally, and sometimes they even stayed with the two of you for a few days, saying how much they enjoyed the atmosphere you had both created.
The kitchen, living room, and dining room were located in the basement of the two-story home that you and Newt shared. Upstairs, there were three bedrooms: one for you, one for Newt, and one for guests.
Each room had its own balcony, which was covered in tiny creepers and plants that contained tiny bowtruckles.
Every Sunday, you two would have movie nights where one of you would choose the film to watch and the other would get the food, pillows, blankets, etc.
Sometimes, Newt would make plans to go stargazing in the nearby hills, where he would point out funny patterns the stars created that made you chuckle.
Everything was going smoothly until one day when you were cleaning the kitchen counter where you accidentally slipped and Newt, just in time caught you, before you fell.
Both of you halted briefly with his hand on your waist and your hands on his shoulders.
His breathtaking eyes were so captivating that you briefly lost yourself in them as you gazed into his hazel eyes, those lovely eyes that you had never paid much attention to.
From that point on, you couldn't help but blush and turn your gaze away whenever Newt came close to you.
When he made eye contact with you and spoke, you felt strange butterflies and couldn't help but picture what it would be like to run your hand through his soft brunette hair.
When people entered the shop you worked in, Newt would always to stare at you, admiring how quickly you worked and how attractive you were, whenever you would turn to look at him, he would shyly avert his gaze somewhere else as if he wasn’t staring at you at all.
He also began acting extremely strangely around you, he would not talk to you as much as he did before and he would not ask you for any help in the household chores.
Your smile, beauty, character, sense of style, and presence drew him over. Everything about you was perfect in his eyes.
One day when you both were watching a movie, you fell asleep on his shoulder and Newt couldn’t help but get butterflies as you slept peacefully on his shoulder.
He then wrapped the both of you in a blanket and slept on the couch with you.
You chuckled when you opened your eyes and noticed that Newt was sound asleep with his mouth slightly open.
His friends insisted him to ask you out on a date but he was too shy to even bring up the topic.
One day, you couldn’t watch your tongue as you said, “Newt, we’ve been friends for so long, and I-I want this friendship to be more than- more than what it is right now, would you-you go on a date with me?” to which Newt wide eyed said, “I-I, Yes!”
The two of you were on a date at a nearby restaurant, whose owner allowed you to stay there as long as you liked.
You both talked about how you both liked each other and how naïve you both were about it.
After a few dates, you two decided to start dating, which was the best thing you've ever done.
Newt is the sweetest and perfect guy you could have ever asked for.
In order to make your day as happy as possible, he would attempt to help you in any way he could.
He would take care of all the household chores while you rested whenever you had your periods.
He would even massage your back when it would hurt a lot and would also make potions for reducing the pain.
If someone asked Newt to describe what it's like to be your boyfriend, he'd say, "It's the best feeling in the world, being their boyfriend is like a blessing. Y/n is the most caring and loving person I've ever met, and I'd love them until the day I die," he says, blushing at the thought of you.
Overall, you both are such a cute couple and belong to one another, body, soul and mind.

Some Unholy War | Theseus Scamander (IV)
Tumblr media
SUMMARY: Theseus was always talented in thinking clearly. Logically. He wanted you to be wrong, but your instincts pushed you to keep moving. It was the only way to stay one step ahead of Sinclair. It contrasted Theseus’ plan to stay put within the walls of the Ministry. You contrasted his very being.
PAIRING: Theseus Scamander x f!reader
WORD COUNT: 1.1K
WARNINGS: canon-typical things, flashback of sorts, mutual pining, semi enemies-to- lovers, always a protective Theseus, SLOW burn, etc.
A/N: HELLO. Again, this took me longer than I would have liked. So, rather than rushing it, I’m going to break it up into two parts...I’m going to take a lil break to get my head together, but I’m v excited in how this second part is going to go!!! So, stay tuned...As always, thank you, @kalllistos. Comments are always welcomed. Enjoy.
PART I, PART II, PART III
Effort was a comical notion.
Magic required it at times, just as breathing did. The effort now felt good, worth it. The icy air that reached the ends of your lungs stung. Yet, each breath was quieter, the effort only coming in the form of physical mechanics of pushing a warm breath back out that the air around you marked.
“Are you mad?” Theseus’ exclamation hadn’t taken any exertion. The pent-up anger almost made you flinch. Theseus yelled after you as you continued forward. He never begged you to stop; he told you. Sometimes you’d listen just to display your wit.
You were quiet, entering the idyllic fog, hoping it would swallow you whole.
“Keep up….” Your voice was airy, the instruction more for yourself. The memory was faded, your mind trying to hold onto it as it threatened to slip between your fingers.
It started in Theseus’ office—a muddled memory overlapping with the friction of everything around you. It was more a feeling, something foggy and unrestrained that called you forward. It felt a bit like apparating, where your body didn’t quite belong for the moments it took to find your footing again.
You scolded yourself for not seeing it clearly; that was the thing about divination.
Although studied meticulously, its real trait was its vitality.  It shifted and molded. Evolved.  It made even more concrete things seem like rubber, rejecting electricity with an uncanny ability to mold into shapes unknown. It was the type of thing that could be so exciting to happen just to become something so vague that it no longer held value to it.
Theseus’ words were drowned out as your ears produced a ringing. All you could hear was your shaky breaths, and all you could see was a faint familiarity with your surroundings. Even your stumbling steps backward felt practiced.
Your breath became labored as the hazy recollection returned. Even through the blur, you saw how the tips of his ears and nose burned red with frustration. It was a trait of his that remained as he rose so many inches he towered over you, and his hair curled the longer her let it grow.
The years did nothing to change it.
“This is it….” Your fingers fumbled with a curl at the nape of his neck. His hair was long, longer than he usually kept it. Time had gotten the better of him. How could you be so blind?
Theseus’ tirade wavered. He was supposed to be angry. He was supposed to do so many things, but your touch felt like an enchantment. It reminded him of how dangerous you could be.
The walnut of Theseus’ wand was always stiff, but it cast its spells briskly and powerfully. Ollivander told him it wasn’t rare to be drawn to the material, but it scarcely paired with dragon heartstring. Because of the extreme dominance of this wood, the core was stoic and gentle and had done Theseus well from the moment he received it. Yet, pressed against your chest to stall your next step, it felt that even the wand knew it was a misguided action.
“Don’t be foolish, Theseus.” You spat at the gesture. His wand only pressed into your chest as if trying to will away his emotions. “Don’t you recognize where we are?”
He shook his head. If he looked beside him, he knew he would crumble.
You tried to reason, “We couldn’t stay there. The Ministry—
“We’re going back.” Although his voice was steady, emotion wavered in his eyes. “I won’t fall into your trap. You can’t just—
“It’s too late.” You pushed forward, the wood digging into your clavicle with drive. “I’m ruined anyways.” The invariability of the words reflected your decision.  “By your hand or his.”
Theseus was always talented in thinking clearly. Logically. He wanted you to be wrong, but your instincts pushed you to keep moving. It was the only way to stay one step ahead of Sinclair. It contrasted Theseus’ plan to stay within the Ministry's walls.
You contrasted his very being.
“Why did you bring me here?” Anger drifted from Theseus’ voice, and the space it abandoned was soon tenanted by something else—a kind of endearment, muslin light.
Theseus first brought you there for a quiet you didn’t know you needed. It was ambient full of croaking creatures and twigs snapping from the pressure of unknown forces. It was a blissful oasis that lured you into its dark depths.
The environment was damp, still reflecting the country’s dreariness. It was hidden, though. A broken-off path Theseus—well, Newt—had stumbled upon in childhood. It was a good hiding place to play, to sneak, and for you to abuse.
“I didn’t see it coming.” It felt strange to admit your best-hidden secret. “Any of it.” Your eyes remained on Theseus, willing trust to transfer. “But I just couldn’t—I knew deep down, I couldn’t lose everything.”
One time, you came to read Theseus’ palm under the full moon—a silly excuse to feel the weight of his hand in yours. The times following grew, the touches still shy with adolescence but bolder in a discovery of emotion.
The memory was a shared favorite, an inside joke of sorts to make the other feel warmth in your fingers that spread to the center of your chest. You hadn’t meant to bastardize it, but its safety was all you could rely on.
“But this, I saw this.” You would continue until Theseus understood. You had told him of your vision all those years ago. It was your only justifiable proof. “This needs to happen.”
Recognition flashed across his features.
Theseus dropped his wand with a tight breath. Looking to the sky, he became lost in turmoil. Once his gaze hit the dirt beneath his feet, it did nothing to aid him. You watched his fingers pull through the hair at the back of his head as if unraveling an answer.
You spoke when his hand fit over his mouth in frustration. “You promised me.”
“We were teenagers.” He snapped, denying the truth. “What did I know about prophecies?”
“Enough to believe me.” You felt young again, begging Theseus to revert with you. You wanted to hear his reassurances, his bold-faced vows to remain by your side despite the trouble you found.
That holiday, you told him everything—your plans to run away, the images that flashed in your dreams of the future, and how he centered them all as an essential turning point.  It spilled out of you, and you couldn’t stop. At the time, the swampy place was at the core unbeknownst.
If Theseus had known, he may not have regretted the promise to always be there for you. No questions asked. It sounded embarrassingly naive. You could still hear how desperately he wanted you to believe him. Even then, you knew it would lead to something like this.
Even then, just as now, you diminished how well Theseus knew you. “What aren’t you telling me?”

quiet space
You're playing Quidditch with the other Gryffindors when you see Newt Scamander walking into the Forbidden Forest. Of course you fake an injury and slip away to check on him. Just out of curiosity. …Right? When inside the Forest, he finds you instead.
Tumblr media
"Oi! Quit daydreaming and fly!" "Are you even listening?" You turned around and shook your head in apology. "Ah, sorry." You waited until a good half-hour of the practice had passed to bang your arm on a goalpost, successfully injuring yourself. The Captain sighed in disappointment and told you off for a solid ten minutes before sending you off to Madam Pomfrey. Wasting an idle fifteen minutes battling Peeves in the corridors, you ran back to the Quidditch pitch knowing the Gryffindors would have left. But to your dismay, you couldn't find the one Hufflepuff either. Where did he go?
You grabbed your broom and took off, swirling around the grounds before landing in an opening in the Forest. Just when you did, something moved by the tree behind you.
Whipping your wand out, you spun around, broom held mid-air like a baton ready to bash the beast's head. But there was no beast in sight. You frowned, narrowing your eyes and mumbling a revealing charm. A single leaf wiggled in response. Slowly, a twig detached itself, climbed down the tree to your eye level, and stood on a lower branch.
You chuckled to yourself, lowering your defence wards and weapons before taking a step closer to the tree. "Hello there," you gave the Bowtruckle a little wave. The two leaves atop its head twitched in caution. It squeaked and ran, disappearing into the foliage. "Hey, wait! Oh come on, I'm not that scary!"
"Not at all, he's j-just extremely s-shy," a soft, low voice stammered a little to your left. You looked around to find a young boy in yellow robes fixing his glasses, the Bowtruckle on his shoulder trying desperately to hide in his ridiculously messy mop of hair. Beautiful, glittery hair.
"Well, then I shan't be surprised if Bowtruckles were your favourite species," you grinned, smacking his upper arm, laughing when he jumped at the touch. "See?"
"S… Sorry, just bad with…" Newt Scamander waved at your hands vaguely.
"Physical touch?"
He nodded, head tilted low.
"Aww, sorry. You'll get used to it," you smiled. "Shoulda prepared yourself for it when you first agreed to be best friends with clingy me." With that, you sat on the grass, laid your broom beside you, and patted the ground. Newt nibbled the inside of his cheek, weighing the pros and cons of spending a free afternoon with you in the forest, before quickly sitting across from you.
You both crossed your legs and removed your cloaks –– the forest was far too warm. You tossed yours against the tree, striking perfectly and letting it sink to rest on the roots. Newt shuffled over, picked it up, patted the poor fabric, folded it neatly and placed it atop his own. You could see a subtle head-shake, lips twitching at the tips. "What's so funny? I'm tired from practice, okay?!"
He nodded, letting out a chuckle before beckoning the Bowtruckle down. "Say hello," he patted it.
A low grunt and a wave followed, making you laugh. "Oh, you're hardly friendly. Hello. Say, Scamander, why are you here anyway? Don't––" you added, when he opened his mouth warily. "Don't tell me you just walked in, I saw you coming in here an hour ago."
"I… Ju– Just…" He gulped, eyes darted back up. Seeing you waiting with a patient smile, his shoulders relaxed a bit. "I come here… to s… study."
"You study here? Merlin's beard, the Forbidden Forest is your quiet space? Takes a damn lot of courage to even come in here, you're in the wrong house!" You clapped, laughing and cheering. "Makes sense. You do love animals, it would make sense to want to study in the middle of a bloody jungle. And for someone who's boggart is an office desk…"
His mouth twitched in a smirk, making you laugh. "It's not exactly Care of Magical Creatures, though…"
"Oh?"
He nodded again.
"Let me take a wild guess." He looked up, eyes far off but alert, the way they always were. "You're writing your own book on magical beings?"
"…" He gulped and shook his head vigorously, hair flying. "No, no, just ta..king my own notes," he denied slowly.
"If that's what you call it for now, sure," you flashed a grin. "I don't know about your writing skills, but I do know you're mad about these ones," you waved at the Bowtruckle, holding out your pinky finger, waiting. The creature pulled a face but relented. You felt a little leafy twig wrapping around your finger and glanced at Newt, beaming with pride. "Look! He likes me!"
Newt was probably surprised too, the way he smiled a little grin. "Who wouldn't?" you heard him mutter.
"I heard that," you smirked, holding out your free hand. The Hufflepuff gazed at it for three long seconds before clasping your hand in his own. "…"
"Wanna go back inside or stay? I could bribe a Prefect of ours to help get in after curfew."
"… Stay." He didn't stutter this time.
