╰┈➤ PLOT: Raya was helpless with her crush on you. What she didn't know was how much you liked her back. In other words, four times Raya daydreamed about you and the one time she thought you might be daydreaming too.

twenty-one. raya was twenty-one freaking years old and she still had a crush on you. it's been six years. six, and raya still had no clue how to get you out of her head. how could she want to?

when she thought of you, she thought of how your eyes sparkled during firework shows at night festivals. she thought of how your cheeks puffed up when you stuffed your face full of food and then how depleted you felt after.

to her, you were so cute it was sickening. downright nauseating and her knees were weak.

ONE

"wow, raya! are you sick or something? you're looking at that human like how noi looks at golden and shiny objects." the dragon lady commented. raya hummed in a measle response. she pushed a lazy shoulder towards the dragon and let her hat loosely hang from her fingers.

at the day market, you were negotiating with an elder merchant. as you walked by her table, you noticed some sparkly crystal-beaded jewelry. upon further inspection, the beads were fake. nonetheless, you still wanted the jewelry, but not at the ridiculous price she was advertising.

"all's good, sisu," raya slurred her words. she shifted her weight to her back foot, letting the other stretch out. in a love-stricken daze, she put a hand in her pocket.

"yeah, right," namaari commented. she took the hat from raya's fingers. with light movement, she placed the hat on raya's head. namaari continued to smack the top of the hat with a bonk!

"hey!" raya huffed. she tilted the brim of the hat upwards. "what gives?"

"what gives is your longing. stop being a baby and ask them out already." namaari rolled her eyes. she crossed her arms over her chest while a merchant went around advertising homemade bao.

raya scoffed. "i have no clue what you're talking about."

"oo, raya has a crush! who is it? who is it?" sisu bounced around hon her heels, grabbing a bao as she looked up and down the street for raya's crush.

on cue, you walked over to the group holding five bracelets. "i finally got her to mark the price down some. that lady had a tight grasp around her 60 jade per bracelet."

"per bracelet?!" sisu exclaimed. she snapped her attention to the shiny objects wrapped around your fingers. you nodded. you took a blue and purple bracelet from your collection and wrapped it around sisu's wrist.

"yup. 60. she's crazy but im crazier. i made her change the price to 15 for one or 20 for 5."

"whoa," namaari added. "that's a crazy price drop. how'd you do it?"

"a magician never reveals their secret." you gave namaari a dazzling grin as you slid a firey red bracelet around her wrist. raya tilted her head to the side and hummed again. the polishing of the crystals had nothing against the shine in your eye.

TWO

"okay, so, i gathered information from tail to fang and no one has anything on fermented bean sprout powder," you announced as your walked into the designated meeting room of raya's home. raya and namaari were sat at the table.

raya and namaari, up to no good as usual, were making some sort of potion or maybe a dish that required outlandish ingredients like dusted jasmine flower and fermented bean sprout powder. you weren't even sure if those things existed.

raya groaned, leaning her elbows on the table. she held her head in her hands. "are you sure? no one has any information on anything?"

"mm, nope." you placed the collection of papers you had in your hand on the table. beside the paper was a stack of books. "hey," you ran your hand across the thick leather cover of the first book. it was as thick as box of juice, its cover dusty and scratched up. the title of the book was intelligible. "can i scan through this to see if i can find anything?"

namaari, who's been quiet this whole time and enjoying the daze looked in raya's eye, turned her head towards the Heart princess. "yeah uh," raya sat up in her chair. she cleared her throat and scooted the chair closer in. "of course." with a thank you and a sweet smile, you sat at the table. you took the thick book off the top of the stack. it landed on the table with a thick thud. a puff of dust erupted of underneath. you simply swatted the dust away before reading.

raya tilted her head, resting a cheek in the palm of her hand. she was at the end of the table while you were on the opposite end and on the side. the same side namaari was sitting on. namaari was in the chair closest to raya.

raya let out a quiet, dreamy sigh. switching her head to her other hand as you flipped to another page. namaari groaned. she sat back in her chair and pinched the bridge of her nose. "seriously, you're still hung up over this? i thought you were done."

snapped out of her thoughts, raya glared at namaari. "may i remind you why we're here in the first place? no, I'm not done. stick a cork in it."

"stick a cork in it? stick a cork--" namaari stood from her chair. the chair scruffed against the flooring. the sound rang through the echoey room, but you paid no mind. raya grabbed her wrist and shoved her back down.

"stick a cork in it."

THREE

"i don't know, there's just, something about them," raya spoke to the stars. she sat at her bedroom window. she had the doors opened, curtains pulled back, and rested an arm on the seal. she sat on the cush cushions of the bench her father made her when she was young.

at first, it was so she could look at the stars without going on her tiptoes, but now it was a place for her to collect her thoughts and talk to the sky.

"i feel different around them. it was the same way i felt with namaari when we were little, but stronger somehow," she spoke out to the sky. "like, when i first met namaari, i was bursting with excitement. i was making a new friend, she was nice, and also a dragon lover. obviously, that feeling turned into hate for a little while, and I'm not saying i hate them or namaari--" she interrupted her ramble by groaning. she dramatically let her forehead fall to her arm.

she took a deep breath. "saying these feelings are so much harder than thinking them," she mumbled into her hand. she lifted her head up, placing her chin on her arm instead. "what i have with them is different than what i have with namaari. it's the excitement, the giggling, and the dizziness i get when I'm around them that's so addicting. i didn't get that with namaari. what i had with her was simply platonic." raya looked up into the sky. a cluster of stars gathered by some leaves of a tree. a soft breeze brushed her skin, forcing raya to take another deep breath. she closed her eyes. she let her shoulders come up to her ears and then deflate. she slouched, feeling a pull towards the ground. slow, she opened her eyes again. she was refreshed, renewed. she knew what her feelings meant now.

when she looked back into the sky again, a star that led the cluster twinkled. raya smiled, the breeze brushing past her ears. "yeah, i get it now. thank you."

FOUR

finally, the last time raya daydreamed about you co-sided with the time she realized you daydream about her.

there was a party at Heart. it was summer and Heart used every excuse they could to throw a party. Heart's Annual Summer Bash was something all the regions participated in. before the whole, saving the world thing with sisu, a sprinkle of people from each region would come, but since then, everyone came!

raya stood by the food table, resting on the half wall behind. with a fond look in her eye, she scanned the party. there was a couple dancing with their kid in the middle of the dance floor, kids running around with food all over their faces, and then there was you, happily talking to sisu. whatever you were talking about, it excited you.

your eyes lit up, their color even more vibrant than before. the apples of your cheeks puffed up because of how much you were smiling and laughing. raya felt like her chest was going to explode. she wanted to cup your face and kiss it, make you smile more. she wanted to hold your hands and feel how soft they were. raya wanted to do so many things with you, but she couldn't. she didn't want to creep you out.

"raya," her father said as he walked over with a smile. he was dressed up in his party wear, his hair in his usual man bun. snapping out of her trance, raya matched her dad's smile. she pulled him into a hug.

"hi, dad!"

"raya," her dad resumed. he pulled away from the hug. "this party is amazing. you and namaari outdid yourselves." raya waved him off with a sheepish chuckle.

"oh, it was nothing."

"nonsense. this party is better than any one i orchestrated." chief benja laughed, shaking his head. with a happy sigh, he leaned against the wall. "are you okay, dewdrop? i saw you spacing out earlier."

raya's smile softened. she turned around to lean her forearms on the wall's edge. she looked out the opening. she could see the bridge and sparkling water. even from far away, she could see the leaves moving in the wind. "yeah, I'm okay."

chief benja's smile matched hers. he rubbed the small of her back. "you saw them, didn't you? why don't you confess and tell them how you feel? it's been seven years--"

"-- six actually." raya stood upright. she held onto the wall as she rocked herself back and forth. "it's been six years since i had a crush on them. won't be seven until two months."

chief benja laughed. he put his hands up in defense. "oh, excuse me. six years." he opened his mouth to speak again, but from the corner of his eye, he saw a certain young adult walking up to them while fidgeting with a beaded bracelet. "oh, i think someone is calling my name," he told raya. "I'll catch you later."

"okay, dad--"

"hi, raya."

FIVE (technically one)

she just had to stand like that. with her thumbs in her pockets and her back against the wall.

you were proud to say your crush on raya has been a successful secret. no one, absolutely no one, knew you liked her. not even namaari, the girl who swears she knows everyone's secret. she was too wrapped up in her own life to notice yours. not that you were complaining though.

you had a crush on raya for years now; you didn't know the exact number.

there were many opportunities where you hinted your crush on her. like earlier this week, you bought her a bracelet. then, you volunteered to find that ingredient she needed, and now, you were at her party having the time of your life.

okay, so, maybe you weren't the best at hinting at your crush on her but today you had a plan. you bought an extra bracelet for her. you spent your free time during the week creating a personalized charm. it was a heart with your initials engraved into it along with a plus sign. it was the perfect gift to confess. or maybe it was creepy. you hoped she didn't see it as creepy.

"hi, raya," you spoke. your voice was soft and quiet. if you two weren't so close, you were afraid raya wouldn't hear you.

"oh," raya turned around. she stood up straighter, a smile spreading across her face. "hey, you. you enjoying the party?"

your heart was racing. her beautiful brown eyes were staring directly into yours. you could only dream of this moment. her, smelling of fruit and forest, and the strands of her hair neatly pulled back and braided. she even had a half bun to match her dad's.

swallowing hard and wondering where the heck the moisture in your mouth went, you nodded. "yeah! um, I'm having a good time. i actually came over here to talk to you about something."

"uh oh, that doesn't sound good." raya chuckled. she waved you over to join looking at the view with her. you obliged. you stood next to her and instead of looking at the view, you looked at her. "what's up?"

you took a deep breath. there was no time but now to confess. "i made, well, bought this bracelet for you and added the charm." you handed the bracelet off to her. as she grabbed it, her fingertips lingered on yours.

you felt fizz burst up and through you. it was like she knew the effect her touch had on you. your ears were ringing and goosebumps spread to your arms. raya chuckled softly, her own cheeks changing in color.

she inspected the bracelet. she dragged her fingers against the small and cool beads. "this is really cool, thank you."

anxious, you watched as her eyes scanned the item. she finally took notice of the charm. she brought the bracelet closer to her eyes, squinting to read the text. the new color on her cheeks got worse. her dazzling eyes met yours and then looked back at the charm.

"this... this is..."

"raya," you let out a breath. "i like you. i've liked you for some time now and keeping my feelings a secret, while wildly successful, it's also wildly stressful. i lay awake at night hoping and wishing i get to see you and hang out with you." you glanced up at her. she was staring at you now. her face was hard to read. you couldn't tell if she was intrigued or grossed out. either way, you continued. "and if the gift isn't your style or maybe I'm not your style, but i thought you deserved to know how i feel about you so," you trailed off. how else were you supposed to end that? she still hasn't said anything.

raya didn't have anything to say. she realized a few nights back that actions mean a lot more than words. after you confessed, she thought of all the times you were there for her or gifted her something. how couldn't she notice? you were right there. all the time

she held up her wrist to show off the purple bracelet you bought her earlier that week. with a teasing smile, she took it off. she slipped the new one on. after putting the old bracelet in her pocket, she held your hand up to hers. your bracelet on the wrist she held up. she intertwined your fingers, her teasing smile now a grin. "i like you too, jewels."

you laughed. the ringing in your ears calmed down, but that didn't stop the fuzzy feeling in your stomach and the roaring warmth on your cheeks. "jewels?"

she nodded. "you have a knack for buying me jewelry," she cooed. "it's cute, but you don't have to keep buying stuff for me anymore. so, no more hassling old ladies to make sure you got a great gift for your super cool and attractive crush." she poked your nose.

you swatted her hand. "hey, no teasing!"

"ahh," she let go of your hand to wrap her arm around your shoulders. "no can do, jewels. you have a crush on me, it's only fair to tease you."

"oh, so i can tease you back?" you held the hand that was around your shoulders.

"not necessarily, but, i can give you something in return."

confused, you scrunched your eyebrows together and tilted your head. she pulled away from you with a laugh. after digging in her pockets, she pulled out a necklace that had a mini glass bottle hanging from it.

"it's uh, it's forever powder. mari and i found out about it while searching through old books. legend has it that whomever you give this concoction to, you swear your friendship and loyalty to them." she gestured to the necklace, silently asking if she could put it on you. you nodded. raya carefully took the necklace and wrapped it around your neck. she fixed your clothes to make sure the necklace was showing off.

"it looks like we both have a thing for gifting jewelry," you teased her. a grin spread across your lips. raya gave you a dry laugh. she wrapped her arm around your shoulders again.

"seems like."

“Má?”

Hand resting on your growing stomach you turned let the soft breeze tossle your hair. You didn’t have to hear your daughter call out to you, not when you knew her foot steps so well.

“Yes Raya..”

Giving her a smile you watched as she sat down next to you, her dark hair framing her face. You couldn’t believe how much she has grown, how much of her life you’ve missed.

‘How did you know that you fell in love with Bo?...when did you realize that he was...the one.?”

Blinking a few times, you let out a soft laugh reaching out to grasp her hand gently. “Is this about Namaari?”

Head shooting up Raya could feel the warmth burn on her cheeks as she quickly looked down. “Maybe.”

Smiling you drew her closer to your chest as if she was a child, fingers running through her hair you sighed softly as she relaxed against you. Her head resting in your shoulder as she let her arms wrap around you, hugging you.

“Are you sure you want to know.” You teased.

“I do!!”

Closing your eyes you rubbed your stomach again getting lost in the memories of when you first met the man that would soon be your husband and protector, the man that you would love.

“It all started with your grandfather wanting to meet with a young prince.

“But Papa! I do not want to marry either of them!”

“You need to stop this Y/n...we will not have his discussion again.” Biting your lip you sunk your fingers into the fur of your Moro. The white dire wolf let out a small whine as her large paw slowly walked towards a group of people though at the center stood a tall young man. From what you could see he looked nervous, while he was standing tall and his arms were clasped behind his back you can tell in his eyes that he was nervous.

“Wait! Ba was nervous!.”

Laughing you glanced down at Raya, for a moment she looked like that small little girl. Her eyes wide, a smile on her lips as she adjusted her posture.

“Of course I was.”

Turning to the voice, you smiled as Benja walked towards you both. Your husband placing his hands on your shoulder as he placed a small kiss to your temple.

“Here I was, waiting to meet the woman I am going to marry. I just never expected her to be so beautiful.”

Flushing you shook your head as Benja sat himself next to you, his hand taking yours. “Though you can continue your story.” He teased.

Shaking your head you glanced down at Raya, she was giving you a smile, the same smile as her father. “I want to hear more!.’

Closing your eyes you smiled nodding your head giving your stomach a small rub. “Right....where was I?”

Biting your lip you watched your father happily greet the man whom you assumed was the young prince’s own father. Adverting your eyes you took your eyes off the two as they talked, you were so absorbed in your own thoughts that you were startled hearing a throat clearing out.

“Princess? May I help you down.”

Gripping San’s fur you slowly nodded your head as your eyes locked his. They looked so kind and his smile so warm, it made your heart race a little faster. “I....suppose that will not be a problem.” Giving him a small smile of your own your hand slipped into his as he helped you off the large wolf.

‘I...will be happy to give you a tour of our home...my home.” He corrected himself quickly. “If you do not mind.”

“I would like that.” Giving his hand a squeeze, you did your best to give him an easy smile hoping it would make him relax.

“And....that was that...a few more day’s your father and I got married....brought our villages together then had you.” You teased pinching your daughters cheek.

“Ma!...that can’t be it....I want to hear more stories of you too.” Raya let out a small whine, she wanted to know more about her parents.

Giving her a wink you let out a small sigh standing up placing your hand on your stomach, Benja quickly wrapping his arms around your waist.

“Hope about this, you go and confess your feelings to a certain young princess then I’ll tell you more about your father and I.”

“I think that’s a fair trade!.”

“Bo!...I...f-fine.” Standing up Raya gave a determined nod to you both as she rushed off.

“I can’t wait for the wedding.”

Hey let's talk about queer coding, Disney villains and why this whole conversation always makes me mad.

Coding is when an author implies a character to be from a certain socio-cultural background without actually saying it out loud. The examples that come to mind are JK Rowling writing Remus Lupin's lycantrophy as a metaphor from AIDS and Frozen 2 using the Northuldra's conflict with Arendelle as metaphor for colonization and cultural genocide.

Queer Coding is when certain work of fiction implies that one of the characters is part of the LGBTQ community, but without confirming in canon.

A pretty common criticism against Disney, is that, supposedly, "ALL" villainous characters from the classics were secretly queer coded, hitting at some kind of secret homophobic agenda. I'm not here to defend Disney, it's just that the logic behind some these arguments and analysis is so bad and flawed that makes me cringe.

First, coding needs authorial intent. The author writes a character in way that is meant to make the audience draw a connection between them and a real-life group. The ability of the audience to see a real-life group in that character is essential to convey the message the author is trying to tell. If there isn't authorial intent, we are left only with the audience's headcanon.

Don't get me wrong, to me all interpretations of a fictional work are valid, but an author isn't responsible for interpretations that fall outside his intent, for good and for bad.

An author cannot take credit, for example, for accidentally writting character that certain minority group took a liking to. Let's say that this character is heroic and the audience felt sympathetic to their struggle. Their interpretation is valid, but if the writer takes credit for that, it will be just shameless opportunism, since it was never their true intention. Sometimes the blue curtain is just a blue curtain.

So, it's okay for queer people to relate to Disney villains. A lot of people in general do relate to them better than to the protagonists. But it's in the audience, not in the author. Disney cannot take credit for that, nor can it take for any other character. Disney cannot take credit for Luca x Alberto and Raya x Namaari even if they wanted to.

Just to add another example, JK Rowling writing Lupin as metaphor for people struggling with AIDS is probably the most problematic coding that I ever saw. Werewolves are actually highly dangerous in canon, Lupin was infected as a child by someone who really wanted to infected him and most of the werewolves side with Voldemort in the Second Wizarding War. She is totally responsible for these interpretations since she is the one who invited her readers to draw the connection in the first place.

And this is not to say that there isn't queer coding in the villains of Disney canon. Ratigan from The Great Mouse Detective and Governor Ratcliffe from Pocahontas are both written as two very effeminate male characters, specially if compared to the rest of the cast. Ursula from the Little Mermaid was literally inspired by a drag queen, Divine.

But the standards used in some of these analyses are so vague, so broad, so arbitrary, that you are excused in thinking that all over-the-top, comical villains are automatically gay.

Hades spends the whole film touching Meg, hugging her, comically flirting with her, and somehow he's the gay best friend. His whole personality is heavily influenced by James Woods, a super conservative republican christian, who changed the character from the originally planned Jack Nicholson type to satanic car seller, but he's totally gay right?He did a lot of ad-libbing in his recordings, especially in Hades' dialogues with Meg. If you ask me Hades is totally coded more as an abusive boss or smooth-talking pimp than anything else.

Gaston was described by his animator as a "grotesque prince charming". He's a brutal caricature of the super macho types, a mockery of the cishet frat bro, but he's still often included in the list of queer Disney villains.

I once saw an article that claimed Lady Tremaine was a "men-hating lesbian" and I was left as... Did we watch the same movie?

Jokes aside, if it's to include Disney characters under the rainbow umbrella using every arbitrary trait or popular headcanons, Disney is full of queer characters, both villains and heroes.

Bashful, Flower, White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, March Hare, Cheshire Cat, Alice, Ariel, Sebastian, Beast, Cogsworth, Genie, Hermes, Clopin, Victor, Hugo, Laverne, Mushu, Mulan, Li Shang, Timon, Pumbaa, Kuzco, Pleakley, Jumba Jookiba, Merida, Edna Mode, Go Go Tomago, Elsa, Honeymaren, Oaken, Raya, Namaari, Luca, Alberto. Cross-dressers, outcasts, sassy bachelors, badass spinsters, sensitive men, fierce tomboys. There are already enough people to start a gay-straigh alliance in the Magic Kingdom.

Namaari x Younger sister! Reader

Okay, I feel a tiny bit better so here you go

When you opened your eyes; it was daytime and it was raining. You looked around in confusion. You were in the forest, the leaves wet from the rain and you looked at your hands.

They were flesh, no longer stone but you couldn’t help but wonder how? How are she no longer stone? Where was ma? Where was Namaari? Was she okay?

So many questions ran through your mind as you walked down towards the Fang palace. Your face morphed into shock when you saw the state of it. Buildings were crumbled, the ground caved in. You looked around until you saw a familiar person.

“’Maari?” You called out. Namaari tensed, hearing a voice she never thought she would hear again. She slowly turned around, her mouth dropping in shock when she saw you.

“Y/N!” She exclaimed, running towards her. You ran towards her as well, and finally felt her wrap her arms around you. You cried into her shoulder and you felt her do the same.

“Oh my dragons,” she pulled away, looking down at you with a shocked expression. She cupped her cheeks, looking at you for an sign of injury. “I thought I was never going to see you again” she whispered, tears slipping out of her eyes.

You wiped your eyes. “I thought I was never coming back” you admitted. Once again, your older sister eveloped you in another hug. She held you tight, as if you were to disappear if she let go.

You opened your eyes and your eyes widenend when you saw a beautiful girl with long hair and a single braid on top. She was watching the scene with a confused expression on her face.

“W-who’s that?” You asked as Namaari pulled away from the hug. She looked over at her before waving her over. The girl obeyed and walked over to the both of you.

“Y/N, this is Raya. She’s the Heart Princess” Namaari introduced. Your eyes widened as you quickly formed a gem over your head and bowed. Raya chuckled. “You don’t have to. But uh, ‘Maari, I didn’t know you had a sister” Raya said as she glanced over at the Fang princess.

Namaari pursed her lips. “I know...It was just hard for me to talk about. She turned to stone about a year ago. That’s kind of why...I was also kind of a bitch.” She continued as she placed an arm around you. You leaned into her touch and laid your head against her chest, savoring the moment.

“After she turned to stone, I began to get more determined on stopping the Druun” she finished explaining as she glanced down at you. Raya watched the scene as the memory of her ba came back to her.

“No, I get you. It’s the same with my ba.” She said. Namaari and Raya gazed at each other with a small smile. However, as you watched a small smirk formed on your lips.

“Ahem, anyway. Raya, Namaari, why don’t you guys...hang around? I’m gonna go see ma” you said quickly leaving the scene as both princesses looked at you confused.

After your very emotional reunion, you went back to your room to change. But also, to plot on how to get Raya and Namaari alone together. You knew your sister. She may seem very strict and intimidating on the outside, but when it came to you or her Serlots, she was a big furball.

And you could see that it was the same with Raya. You knew about your sister’s obsession with Raya. Okay, obsession is a strong word.

Oh!

Sapphic yearning.

There you go.

You knew about your sister’s feelings towards the Princess, even when she would get angry and deny it when you would ask her. But you weren’t stupid. Yeah, you were younger than her, but you weren’t oblivious either.

The way they looked at each other is how your ma’s used to look at each other when you and Namaari were younger.

You quickly changed into a white Subai and brushed your h/c hair before heading out.

Everyone was planning on going back to Heart, to announce that they were Kumandra again. Plus, Raya was going to reunite with her ba. You left your room when you turned a hallway.

There, you saw Namaari and Raya talking. You panicked before hiding behind a pillar and peeking out.

“Are you nervous?”

“A little. I haven’t seen my ba in 6 years. What if he doesn’t recongnize me?”

“I’m sure he’ll recongnize you. You look exactly the same. Short as ever”

Raya giggled, gently pushing Namaari’s arm. “Shut up. I’ll see you later yeah?” Raya asked as she began to walk away. Namaari watched with red cheeks. “Y-yeah. I’ll see you later!” She said as she watched the princess walk away.

Namaari watched with a dreamy expression, not hearing when you appeared behind her.

“Awww, someone has a crush” you cooed in a mocking voice. Namaari sighed before looking at you, her brows furrowed in annoyance. You smirked. “Just admit it. You like her” you said crossing her arms.

Namaari rolled her eyes. “No, I don’t. She’s just-”

“A friend. Yeah, yeah. That’s what ma said about mama and then we were born” you teased. Namaari sighed closing her eyes.

“Okay, fine. So, what if I think she’s cute?” She admitted as she crossed her arms. You squealed in excitement. “Namaari’s got a girlfriend!”

“Shh!” Namaar hushed you as you giggled. “Shut up, binturi, people are gonna hear” she whisper yelled. You lifted your hands up in surrendur. “Sorry. Well, I’m gonna go talk to ma, you figure out your.... thing” you said before turning on your heel and walking away, feeling your older sister’s eyes burn a hole in the back of your head.

A few hours passed and you everyone else were on their way to Heart. The sun was beginning to settle when everyone arrived. You yawned as you got off your Serlot, patting his head as you followed your mom and sister.

You watched with a small smile as Raya and her ba reunited, remembering when you and your sister saw each other again for the first time. You glanced at said girl who was watching the scene.

She felt your gaze and looked down at you. You smiled as she wrapped a hand around your shoulder. Soon, everyone began to close in as Chief Benja looked in pure shock.

Sisu went up to him and explained what happened. Soon, everyone bowed and walked across the bridge into Heart.

You watched with a smirk on your face as Raya and Namaari talked, both their cheeks flushed as they shared a laugh. You took a bite of your food when you heard someone sigh next to you.

You looked to see Boun. “Oh, hey” you greeted. He smiled. “Hi” he greeted. You both stayed quiet as you watched both princesses talk. He sighed. “They’re so oblivious” he said. You looked at him in surprise. “You noticed it too?” You asked shocked. He looked at you confused. “Yeah. They obviously like each other they’re just either too oblivious to do anything or they’re...not the smartest people”

You laughed. “Nah. Raya is the most oblivious person ever, and Namaari is too chicken to ask her out” you pointed at them with your fork. Boun laughed. “Right? Like come on” you both shared a laugh.

You both stayed quiet for a minute when you noticed a woman from Talon go up to Raya. Your eyes narrowed as you watched her ask Raya something. The Princess smiled and let the Talon woman grab her hand, leading her to the dance floor.

“Wait, what’s going-”

“Shh” you shushed Boun as you watched them dance. Your eyes then trailed to your older sister who was standing by your ma and was watching with narrowed eyes.

You smirked. “She’s jealous. Quick, we need to do something” you whispered. Boun agreed before you both left your posts and went to your places.

“’Maari!” You greeted your sister. She glanced over at you. “What’s wrong?” She asked, a look of worry washing over her features. “Uh, why don’t you dance with Raya?” You asked, your voice going slightly higher.

Sadly, your sister knew you too well. She knew when your voice got high meant you were lying or stalling. She raised a brow. “Uhm...because she’s already dancing with someone else?”

You turned to see Boun ‘accidently’ spilling juice on the Talon woman’s dress, causing her to get embrassed and leave the scene. Raya stood there in confusion.

“Come on!” You pulled your sister’s arm, making her yelp as you dragged her across the floor. Boun grabbed Raya’s hand as well and soon they were both facing each other.

“U-Uh hi” Namaari stammered. Raya smiled. “Hey. Nice party right? My ba did a great job” she said happily, not aware at all of what was going on. Namaari gazed at the Princess in front of her with a small smile before she heard your voice.

She glanced back to see you standing next to Boun. “Dance! Dance with her!” You pressured. Namaari turned back towards the princess, tugging her bottom lip with her teeth in nervousness.

“Um...Wanna dance?” She asked. Raya smiled and slipped her hand in Namaari’s. Soon, a slow song began to play and couples from different lands danced together. You watched, sitting on one of the chairs as your sister danced with the Heart Princess.

“So, uh...wanna dance?” Boun asked shyly. You chuckled. “Nah, I don’t dance. But you can get me some juice, that’d be nice” you said. He nodded before walking off. You turned back at the scene but the moment was ruined for you when you saw a man from Spine come by and asked Raya to switch with him which she gladly did.

“Ugh. This Heart Princess is dumber than my sister” you muttered under your breath as you walked towards your older sister who watched in sadness.

“What the heck happened?” You asked crossing your arms. Your sister sighed as she watched Raya happily dance with different people. “I don’t know...maybe she doesn’t feel the same” she guessed.

You groaned. “No, it’s because she’s more oblivious than a fish.” You grasped Namaari’s tank top so she looked straight at you. “Go get your girl ‘Maari. Don’t let some Spine dude or Talon woman steal her” you pressured.

Namaari’s eyes trailed towards Raya who was laughing at something a Tail woman said. She sighed. “Okay” she said. However, she just stood there. You pushed her slightly. “Go” you pressured.

Namaari shyly walked towards Raya. Boun appeared next to you with a drink in hand. “What was that all about?” He asked. You took the drink from his hand before taking a sip. “Eh, teenage love. Now, let’s go terrorize someone”

Watching your sister fail at flirting and watching Raya get hit on by another person was torture. Namaari was horrible at showing her feelings thanks to your mother’s words of “We make smart decisions not emotional ones” which you really didn’t listen to anyways.

You sighed as you pretended to listen what your mother was telling you as you watched Namaari sadly sip her drink as some random person was flirting with Raya.

Does this girl not know she’s getting hit on? Of course not, she’s so oblivious it’s not even funny.

“Excuse me, ma. I’m gonna go check on ‘Maari she seems kinda sad” you excused before quickly sprinting towards your sister.

“You know, you moping around is ruining my mood” you commented, startling your sister. She glanced at you before sighing. “Why even try, Y/N? She doesn’t even know I’m flirting with her. She doesn’t even know they’re flirting with her! So, why try?” She asked quietly.

Even though you loved to tease your sister about being sad, you felt bad for her. You never experienced what she was feeling but you knew it hurt. Seeing the person you have a giant crush on dance with other people.

You sighed quietly as you watched Raya talk to her ba about something. Finally you decided what to do. “Stay here. Watch my drink” you said as you handed Namaari your cup who held it surprised.

You quickly walked towards the Chief and Heart Princess. “Princess Raya, Chief Benja” you greeted as you bowed. You broke your pose before looking over at the girl.

“I would like to steal Raya for a little bit if that’s alright” you explained. Benja agreed before walking away. “What’s up?” Raya asked as you proceeded to walk out the ball room.

Soon, you were both roaming the hallways, laughing and giggling at things you both said. She would be an awesome sister-in-law.

Soon, you both found yourselves looking out the balcony in Heart’s halls. “Um. So, I need some advice? I guess” you started. Raya raised a brow. “I’m the last person you should be seeking advice from but okay” she said as she leaned so she was looking at you.

You took a deep breath. This is for your sister. Your dumb, shy, scared sister. “Well, it’s not for me, it’s actually for ‘Maari” you said. Raya furrowed a brow. “Why couldn’t she ask me herself?” She asked. You shrugged. “Too shy I guess. Anyway, so Namaari...she likes this girl” you explained. However, you saw Raya visibly shrink at that sentence.

“She...she likes someone?” She asked, her eyes that were once filled with joy now filled with disappointment. You took this as a good sign. It meant Raya was aware of her feelings for Namaari.

“U-uh yeah. She um...she’s not from Fang though. She’s actually from a different land. And she doesn’t know how to ask her out. Everytime she’s around her, she gets all shy and flustered and is horrible at flirting” you explained. Raya listened with a solemn look on her face.

“And um...I thought, maybe you could help her?” You asked. Raya sighed. “Well, if she really likes this girl, then she should just...take a leap of faith. Ask her out on a date. Maybe she’ll say yes. And if she does well..” Raya trailed off as she drew an unknown pattern on the wood with her nail.

“She’s a lucky girl I guess.” She finished as she sighed. You smiled. “Cool. Now, come with me” you grabbed the Princess’ arm. “Woah! W-what are you doing?” She asked.

You glanced back at her. “Helping Namaari ask out her crush” you responded. You dragged the princess back to the ball room where you saw Namaari standing and talking to your mother.

“Go!” You pushed Raya towards her who looked at you confused. “How are you helping her ask out her crush?” She asked. You chuckled. “Raya, you kill me. You are the crush dumby” you revealed. Her eyes widened in realization. You waved as you walked back to Boun and dragged him towards the scene.

“Um...C-Chief Virana, can I speak to Namaari?” Raya asked. The woman nodded before walking away. Namaari looked over at the Princess. “Hey. What’s going on?” She asked. Raya took a deep breath. “Um...your sister told me you have a crush on someone” she revealed.

Namaari’s gaze then snapped over to you, her eyes narrowed as she glared. You only waved back happily as you took a bite of food. Namaari sighed. “Raya, don’t listen to Y/N, she likes to gossip and-”

“I know the crush is me, Namaari”

“ohh...” Namaari pressed her lips together. Oh no, what was she going to say? Was she going to tell her she didn’t feel the same? Was she going to reject her and then she’d be too embarrased to come back to Heart?

“Look, Raya I-”

“I feel the same” Namaari’s eyes widened as she looked at the girl in front of her. Raya had a small smile on her lips and a hint of pink painted her cheeks. “Y-you do?” Namaari asked. Raya laughed. “Yes! I know, I was being kind of oblivious all night. But...yeah. I feel the same.” She confirmed.

Namaari so badly wanted to kiss the Heart Princess but not here in front of everyone. She then smirked. “Let’s...let’s head somewhere private” she offered. Raya giggled as Namaari grasped her hand and dragged her away.

You watched in shock as they did. “Well, that escalated quickly” you commented. “What did?” Boun asked as he appeared next to you, a plate of shrimp in his hand.

“Nothing” you lied before stealing a shrimp and continued your night.

Galaxy | Namaari x Reader

PLOT: (Continuation of Stars, Namaari x ???) Confessing. Is it easy? Namaari never thought so. However, she couldn’t keep her feelings for Y/n a secret any longer.

WARNINGS: They/Them Pronouns. Long-ish Fic(1,000+ words). One Curse Word.

(A/N): Hi! I hope you guys enjoy this fic. I tried to sprinkle in some Thai rep in the story, since Fang was based off Thailand(from what information and research I gathered), but please let me know if I should replace it with something else. It’s not much, just a dish, but I got the dish from a blog and I don’t have any Thai friends to confirm that this is an actual dish. Also, I can’t flirt irl but I tried having the reader do that but it just seems cheesy to me TvT soooo there’s that. Anyways, enjoy!

Namaari glanced over Fang’s thick, wide, white, and gray marbled table to catch Y/n’s eyes. They were mixing their food with their eating utensil. They didn’t seem too excited about eating, Pad Krapow. Maybe it was too much for them, or not their taste. Either way, they didn’t look excited.

“Well, I was thinking we start by introducing open land festivals.” Cheif Virana continued. “To show peace, harmony, and that we are truly Kumandra again.” She nodded, looking over at Cheif Benja with a soft smile.

Thanks to Raya, Namaari, and their crew for saving the world, the five regions have decided to get together to discuss the next steps to keep the peace that graces over the lands now.

“Ah, yes.” Started Cheif Benja. “I say we do a festival in one region every.. couple months are so... to give people the time to gather money, their travel plans, and not to overwhelm them.” “I think that’s a great idea.” Y/n’s dad, chief of Talon, Dang Hai agreed.

“This also gives each land time to prepare for the events.”

With a clink of a glass bowl, Y/n set aside their eating utensil. “May I be excused? I don’t see why my presence is significant here.” They looked around the table, their eyes focusing on Namaari but snapping over to their dad instead.

“Absolutely not. You’re a part of Talon and my child. It will be foolish of you to get up and leave in the middle of a meeting.” He scolded. Namaari and Raya exchanged glances. They couldn’t blame Y/n for wanting to leave the meeting, they weren’t ones for formal settings either.

“Oh, au contraire! Let kids be kids.” Virana said with a wave of her hand. “I’m sure our kids don’t want to be here either.” She looked over at Chief Benja who nodded in agreement. “My girl wouldn’t mind hanging out with them, right?”

Namaari switched her gaze from Raya to her mother, giving her a shy nod and a tuck of her hair. “Sure... I don’t see why not.” “Great! Why don’t you show them around Fang? Raya, you’re happily allowed to join them as well.”

Raya jumped from her seat, loosening the blue wrap around her neck. “Yes!” She kissed her Ba on the top of his head before leaving the dining hall. Namaari and a reluctant Y/n followed.

Once they were in the sandstone and marbled halls, Raya hummed. “So, Y/n! How you likin’ Fang so far?” She inquired as if she lived in the kingdom. “Oh, it’s nice.” They replied.

“How about the people?”

“They’re nice too.”

“Okay, what about the princess in particular?” She smirked. “Raya!” Namaari glared at her best friend. Namaari knew she was going to regret telling her about her crush on Y/n, but Raya just haaad to know. “I’m sorry about her.” The Fang princess apologized to the Talon heir. “She’s weird.”

With a roll of their head and a shrug of their shoulders, Y/n chuckled. “No, she’s fine. I think the princess is... nice. Has gorgeous hair and even cooler cats.” They flirted, looking over at Namaari slyly.

Namaari could feel her cheeks warming up as they held eye contact. Her lips began to feel dry and her stomach was doing whirls. She used her finger to tuck some hair behind her ear and shyly looked away. Did they have to flirt with her right there in front of Raya?! She was never going to hear the end of this.

“Whoa ho ho!” Raya chortled, slouching over and letting her arms swing. “Looks like I’m getting in the middle of things!” She stood up straight, her arms now up in defense. “I’ll go and find something else to occupy myself. See you lovebirds later.” She winked at the two of them before leaving.

Namaari’s face was red. Not from embarrassment, but from anger and the annoyance she calls Raya. That blabbermouth couldn’t keep a secret even if her life depended on it. Now Y/n’s going to hate the two of them for Raya’s behavior and her own shyness.

“Again, I’m sorry about her. She doesn’t really know social cues... and doesn’t know when to keep her mouth shut.” Namaari apologized profusely but, Y/n didn’t care. They didn’t mind the teasing; they actually enjoyed it. It let them know that they weren’t imagining the romantic tension between them and Namaari.

It started when Y/n was helping their aunt sell fruit at her sales stand. Namaari was walking with Raya and Sisu, talking about... whatever they were talking about. As Namaari walked past, Y/n couldn’t help but stare. Could you blame them?

Namaari’s brown eyes seemed to perfectly cascade the purple, magenta, and warm yellow lights Talon puts up in the market area. Y/n swore they could see a galaxy of purple stars in her eyes. Raya caught Y’n’s eyes, a smirk growing on her lips. However, Y/n quickly fled the area before her small crew walked back to their aunt’s stand.

Since then, Namaari and her ‘girls’ came to the market now and then. Did they stay or come over to the stand? No. But did Y/n get to look and get lost in those beautiful brown eyes again? Hell yeah.

“Namaari, stop stressing so much.” They started, looking her in the eye. “I don’t mind it. I don’t mind if she calls us lovebirds, makes comments about our relationship, or even hints little things about me liking you or you liking me.” Namaari rose a brow, tilting her head as her lips curled. “What? Why?”

“Because I like you, Namaari. I don’t care who knows it... and I don’t care who says it. If I wasn’t so cowardly, I would’ve told you how I felt a long time ago. I would’ve encouraged you to come over to my stand every time you walked by.”

Namaari shook her head, fiddling with her fingers and twisting her foot into the ground. Her mouth was dry. Her brain felt like it was in shock as she processed the information. “What... why-why didn’t you?” “As I said, I was shy. Still am, sometimes.”

“Oh.”

“Oh?”

“I... I like you too.” Namaari shyly smiled. Returning the shy smile, Y/n nodded. “I know.” They chuckled, relaxing their tense shoulders. “You knew?!” Namaari exclaimed, her hands running through her hair. “How?!”

“You’re obvious, princess! I’m surprised I wasn’t.” Their chuckle grew louder. “I’m sure you were,” She started. “I was just too oblivious to notice.” Namaari finished with a sigh, running her fingers through her hair one last time. “But, what now?”

“Well, what about now?”

Namaari opened her mouth to ask them a question about the next steps in their relationship, but why be passive about the situation? Namaari knew what she wanted. She just had to get their consent first.
