How to survive as a villain (穿越成反派要如何活命) was an excellent cathartic mlm novel, read it in 8 hours nonstop it hit all the right notes of tragedy & love. All the main characters were gay and sacrificed a lot for their love, though it made me cry a couple times it was very heartwarming. Not sure how to describe/advertise the novel, it was just damn good and primarily a love story if that's what you're looking for.
Clear and Muddy Loss of Love (泾渭情殇) on the other hand was a tragic wlw masterpiece. It had some of the best politicking/court drama and intrigue I've ever seen, and each of the main cast were so compelling and empathizable - you can't help but empathize with all of the cast, even through blood feuds and horrific acts you still understand their perspectives and motivation. The main character, a crossdressing prince from a conquered nation becoming a scholar and bureaucrat for his/her revenge, had such narrative voice and journey it's... hard to describe. The book was so good but it made me cry so damn much it's really fucking tragic, even though it had a happy ending there was a lot of suffering to get there. It's long but if a court intrigue wlw revenge novel sounds appealing to you, well, there's nothing better than JWQS.

Books I Read in 2023
#22 - Winging It, by Ashlyn Kane and Morgan James
Rating: 5/5 stars
I never set out to read so many m/m hockey romances when I don't even follow the sport, but various authors keep writing good ones for me to stumble across on Hoopla when browsing, and here I am.
Whatever minor flaws this has, I am actively ignoring them, because I adore the characters and the tone so completely. I loved this book from start to finish, zero complaints, I borrowed this from the library but I should probably consider buying it because it could easily become one of my "I'm in a bad mood and need a comfort read" books.
Also, hurray for bi men, who need all the good rep they can get. Dante's "Oh, wow, I am super bi," was hilarious in context, but is going to stick with me in a serious way, because once he realizes that aspect of himself, he revels in it, and I rarely see bisexuality celebrated in fiction in that way.
10/10, went straight on to borrow the next in the series.

"The official brought written testimony: from a hotel where we had allowed affection to outstrip discretion; from clubs I had not attended in twenty years; worst of all, a letter that I had written to Simon some ten years back.
I asked him after why he had kept words of love and desire that could damn us both when any sensible man would have burned the blasted thing. He replied, "It was a thing you wrote for me." He had kept the letter, and someone had stolen it from our home, and now it was waved in our faces with a threat of prosecution for sodomy and the attendant humiliation, shame, and jail.
Simon may be in his fifties, but his right arm would still do credit to a man half his age. It did no good, except to relieve his feelings — but at least the Whitehall man went away with a badly broken nose to go with our bitter, reluctant capitulation.
...
We will do our duty until this insane conflict ends, or until it ends us. Either way we shall not return to England. I dream of warmth, blue skies and peace, lapping seas, and a lonely cottage a very long way from other people. Somewhere umravaged by war, if such a place still exists in Europe.
Somewhere Whitehall will not find us, and the voices of the dead will drop to a whisper, and two aging gentleman may share a house in peace without prying eyes and the threat of shame in a country that makes a fetish of death and a crime of love."
- KJ Charles, The Secret Casebook of Simon Feximal

Hey folks~
I've been working on something for quite some time and I'm finally ready to share some of it.
Water, Blood and Wine is the dream-like retelling of a young man’s encounter with the entity known as the King of Oaks. Told from his perspective, the story follows the protagonist Lau as he is magically saved from bleeding out in the snow and awakes in the realm of summer. There, love blossoms among fruit and flowers...
The whole story is about 70-80 pages long, I'm currently at 22 finished pages, with script and thumbnails done. This is the biggest and longest project I have ever successfully stuck with and sharing it means a lot to me. This thing is thoroughly queer, with a trans man lead and lots of love in and on the pages. It would mean a lot if people would check it out!!
As of this month, my £4 tier patrons get early access to my graphic novel in progress.
To read the first 10 pages, support me on PATREON

"INKED" by J.J. Jackalope out now!!
Have you guys considered what the world might've be like if sometime a century ago, people started being born with ink embedded into their skin, and powers at their fingertips? No? Well you should start, because I have the new-age queer book for you.
Think X-Men meets coming-of-age meets a bit of Percy Jackson action.
My goal is to give a sense of belong to anyone whose eyes grace my work. I know how important rep is to every minority and I want to do everything I can to give that representation.
Check out my website to learn more and buy!
Here's the book blurb :)
After being in online school for the last four years, Scottlin Vincino starts his Junior year at a new private boarding school an hour from home. It should have been similar to any other in-person school-- but alas, they had everything Scottlin didn’t.
A mark.
He'll have to keep it a secret, but it gets tricky when you have a knack for ending up in the infirmary… Whether it be for the hot boy you just met, or you're swept up in one of the freak accidents at the school that seem to just keep happening.
Scott will have to juggle his sexuality, his grades, and his new friends all while solving the mystery of what is happening to his new academy.

IT IS HERE. HUZZAH.
The finale to my big massive queer horror game is now released. Which means that, after 2 years and 8 months, the game is now complete. (And I am now officially spent.)
The finale features:
🖼️109 CGs
🔚4 epilogues (1 neutral and 3 LI-focused)
🌳3 cutscenes
⁉️A lot of answers
💦A lot of tears
💕A lot of heart
If you're new to this school, Our Wonderland is a super cool and definitely not traumatic horror-fantasy visual novel following a passel of childhood pals returning to the wish-granting wonderland of their youth. Or, as I also like to describe it, "five 30-year-olds tackling the traumas of a cis- het- allonormative world in a land where all their (darkest) dreams come true."
It stars an awkward biro-ace guy who may or may not get some gay kisses as he struggles to figure himself out (and keep from dying). YEAHHHHHHH.
The full game features:
283k words (around 20-25 hours)
520 CGs (because I'm severely unhinged)
96 unique sprites (+ countless variations)
7 animatic-style semi-animated cutscenes
12 optional deaths (+4 non-optional deaths)
1 heart (my own)
Please to be enjoying the finale to my magnum opus!!!
Read the launch devlog here! (contains extra details on the launch plus about 2k words of my unfettered ramblings)
OR jump ssssstraight to the main game page to download! (IT'S FREE)

This is the entire premise of the game. Hugo's "unintentionally" gay thoughts are the sole reason why this game exists.
We had to make it JUST so he can figure it out.
Please figure it out 💀

step into this deeply self-indulgent fantasy w me. sensory experience intricately detailed and emphasized for my pleasure :>.
you're blindfolded. all you see is void. your hearing elevated, you notice the sound of them walking softly around where you're kneeled on the floor. there is a pillow under your knees, and a rope holding your hands clasped behind your back. you're breathing heavily, and the event has not even begun.
the footsteps stop in front of you, and a hand softly touches your head at the crown, running fingers through your hair. the gentle touch is followed by a harsh grip to the back of your head, pulling you forward until your lips meet flesh. you please them for as long as they like, gently sucking and licking away with no thoughts or complaints to be had.
you're eventually pulled off, and you succeed at not complaining about this despite yourself. a thumb nudges its way into your mouth, and you suck for another moment before it's removed. wet fingers suddenly touch you gently over your patiently throbbing tcock, but only for a moment. only for long enough to make you need more.
footsteps once again tread around the room. you hear a small metallic flicking noise and feel your heartbeat quicken. his low and gentle voice instructs you to stay still, and to try not to be too loud about this.
sharp, hot, stinging wax drops beat softly, one by one, onto your shoulder blade. the feeling makes your entire upper body flush. drip by drip, they patter down your chest, then your stomach, and each pat of wax forces the air out of your lungs.
a sharp gasp fills the room when the first drop thuds softly onto your right thigh. another when the next drop follows only an inch higher up. a quiet cry fills the room when five drops are unloaded at once, dancing towards your inner thigh. their stern voice reminds you to be quiet, so a stifled moan follows the first drop truly close to your eager and hot cock. you don't know how much of the candle is burned when the drops finally cease, your thighs both canvases to your lover's hard work. you only notice how loud you'd been when the whimpers actually stop.
finally, you are told to stand slowly, and you are lead to the bed. your blindfold stays on, but your hands are free to grasp and scratch as you're stretched out. you come with fingers rubbing deft circles on your begging cock and biting into your lover's shoulder, their voice lovingly reminding you how good you've been tonight.

Pre-Order Hockey Bois by A. L. Heard!
Tumblr media
Pre-orders for A. L. Heard’s modern beer-league hockey m/m romance are now open!
Nick Porter has always loved hockey. Ever since he can remember, it’s been his favorite thing in the world. It’s too bad he never learned to play, he’d tell himself, but it was too late to do it now. Adults don’t just magically learn to skate and join a hockey team. That’d be ridiculous.
Except maybe they do? On a whim, he decides to sign up for an adult beginner’s class. He learns to skate, joins a team, and meets a really hot teammate… and it’s pretty much a disaster from there on out.
Almost three years after the debut of Hockey Bois, A. L. Heard returns with a new edition of this much-loved book! The text has been revised and streamlined, the interior appearance re-done, and we’ll be offering an e-book edition, trade paperback, AND hard cover! If your preferred flavor of m/m story is slow burn, mutual pining, and romance-with-plot, you won’t want to miss this, and the hockey hunks are just a lovely, delicious, not-to-be-missed bonus!
What can you get?

Books I Read in 2023
#31 - The Darkness Outside Us, by Eliot Schrefer
Rating: 3.75/5 stars
I barely remember adding this to my TBR, most likely because I did it on a whim when someone on Tumblr mentioned it and I thought it sounded vaguely interesting; I do that a lot with romances, especially queer ones. I'm pretty sure I read the blurb at some point but functionally I went into this blind, and I did not get what I expected, in a good way. The romance is probably the least developed part of the story, because for something I thought was going to be at least somewhat fluffy YA m/m, it's actually more concerned with its sci-fi plot, and the romance plays the supporting role tying the pieces of that together. I don't think any of the individual plot twists are particularly original or shocking in isolation, but taken altogether, they're woven into a reasonably new and interesting spin on... well, I can't really say without spoilers, but any sci-fi fan has experienced a version of this tale before, in some way. This time we're just looking at it through the lens of two queer teenage boys falling in love while things go wrong around them. It's definitely more interesting than the average teenage romance I was vaguely expecting, but it does lack the depth I've seen in adult sci-fi exploring similar themes, which is why I didn't rate it higher. I did very much enjoy it anyway.

Done! I've plotted the entire novel!
Tumblr media
If you have 80% of a book plot and a bunch of thin threads, I fully recommend just buying a pack of sticky notes and finding a wall to stick them on. Pick a colour for the plot and different ones for chapters, themes, notes and anything else you need and just get it all up there.
It offers such great flexibility in moving bits of the plot round and figuring out what happens and when. I started out with a strong beginning and end - I just needed to weave the middle bit together. I now have the full thing! So definitely recommend doing this if you're struggling with plotting and weaving themes in.
Now that this is done, I feel like I can start writing now! This book is based on a dream I had (not like Twilight omg) and some life lessons I wish people had told me when I was younger.
It covers things like finding and choosing your family, coming to terms with the fact that the people you are related to aren't always the best people (and coming to terms with that), finding validation and self acceptance and learning to let go of people or things that would otherwise do you harm. All in a fantasy setting! Woo!
Oh and it is also very queer.
I love the characters and messaging and will post updates as I go because eventually - I will need test readers!
Now to come up with a fucking title.
