Hey folks~
I've been working on something for quite some time and I'm finally ready to share some of it.
Water, Blood and Wine is the dream-like retelling of a young man’s encounter with the entity known as the King of Oaks. Told from his perspective, the story follows the protagonist Lau as he is magically saved from bleeding out in the snow and awakes in the realm of summer. There, love blossoms among fruit and flowers...
The whole story is about 70-80 pages long, I'm currently at 22 finished pages, with script and thumbnails done. This is the biggest and longest project I have ever successfully stuck with and sharing it means a lot to me. This thing is thoroughly queer, with a trans man lead and lots of love in and on the pages. It would mean a lot if people would check it out!!
As of this month, my £4 tier patrons get early access to my graphic novel in progress.
To read the first 10 pages, support me on PATREON

I wanted to put my collection of queer graphic novels all together, but I have quite a few, so I selected some to be together, while the others maybe might be floating around. These are some of my favorites, though.

Chef’s Kiss is the perfect fall romance read on a stormy fall day! This was just so cute and it really captures the feeling of existential dread of that “now that I’m done with college/university, what do I do??” that I think most of us have felt at one point or another. This graphic novel combines that with finding a new path in an unexpected place with a healthy sprinkling of romance thrown in for good measure. It was just the cutest and I loved that it really highlighted the different aspects of working in a commercial kitchen. It was really fun to see Ben learning new things and adding his own touch to the recipes. Anyway, this is getting five stars! And if you haven’t read it yet, you really should!

Omg new graphic novel with Owl House vibes!!
Tumblr media
It’s called Hollow, by Shannon Watters, Branden Boyer-White, and Bernice Nelle and it’s a modern adaptation of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow! It’s a spooky story about a girl who moves to Sleepy Hollow just as people start seeing the Headless Horseman around, and she has to join forces with the sick-of-this-nonsense town darling and the himbo star athlete to save the city. The mc is a Latina masc lesbian and she’s got a lumity-esque rivals to lovers romance with the uppity rich girl!
It’s perfect for spooky season, AND to tide you over for the inevitable post-October-15th hiatus. Go read it!!

This an over-the-top, gruesome, funny, anti-capitalism, queer graphic novel that I enjoyed from beginning to end. In just a few pages, I completely fell for Petal, who wears a “Loud and Queer” t-shirt and assures Joey that yes, she knows how awesome she is. I think I can safely say that if you like the title and cover, you’ll love this book, and it’s such a fun one-sitting Halloween read.
Eat the Rich by Sarah Gailey, Pius Bak, and Roman Titov was reviewed at the Lesbrary

(via Review - Anne: An Adaption of Anne of Green Gables (Sort Of))
Rep: sapphic main character and wlw romance.
I received this graphic novel as an ARC and I thought it was absolutely adorable! Anne of Green Gables has always been a story close to my heart and this is a modern, queer retelling that really brought a lot of joy to me while still staying reminiscent of the original story.
If you’re interested in purchasing this book, the hardcover version of this book is expected to be released February 1st, 2023. The paperback and kindle versions should already be available to the public.
Thank you NetGalley for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

All right, I'm gonna cheat and recommend a graphic novel that hasn't come out yet, but will be released later this month. I was fortunate enough to read an advance copy of it.
M is for Monster is a Frankenstein-inspired story about a woman who attempts to bring back her sister after a fatal lab accident and it works...sorta. The being that rises from the slab has none of her sister's memories nor her personality, but that won't stop her from unmaking her and trying again. Fearing being disassembled, the being, M, tries to play along with the help of the sister's spirit that still roams around the house.
M is for Monster has a wonderful queer allegory that incorporates experiences so many queer people have: trying to put on a persona to conform to other people's expectations, trying to distance yourself from a past version of yourself, and growing beyond other people's vision of you. It also has nonbinary and sapphic representation and the author/artist is bi. You can actually check out her blog at @supertaliart
This is a wonderful story that highlights the importance of prioritizing your own self expression and discoveries. A 10/10 from me.

Firebird by Sunmi
i adore the dreaminess of this graphic novel. the two-color art is so loose, and the story is so focused and interior! it's a quiet haven of sweet blushing and communication through uncertainty and blossoming growth. and at the same time, it confronts the loneliness of two Asian teens who feel unheard; the struggles of their immigrant single mothers; the different ways they approach the world and their identities, their bodies, their emotions, even as they're slowly coming together. just lovely!
i felt, particularly powerfully, the critical gaze of Caroline's mother--how her picking at Caroline, at her appearance and her grades and her behavior, could come from a place of wanting a good life for her, even though it was so clearly damaging. watching Caroline begin to push back and discover her own selfhood made me insanely happy! and Kim was just so very charming and good-hearted, going with every flow, occasionally to her detriment but mostly to her benefit. they made a sweet pair.
the deets
how i read it: an e-galley from NetGalley. i actually really appreciated being able to zoom in on this one in a way you can't with a printed page, just to see all the little details of the art!
try this if you: delight in a blushy-crushy and gentle friendship/romance, have feelings about growing up and pushing at boundaries, or ever wanted to wear a suit to a school dance.
a panel i really liked: big mood!!!

I read Volumes 1-4 of Heartstopper by Alice Oseman last month and I’m still thinking about it.
The story is so compelling and one of the things I liked best about it was the portrayal of communication and how important that is in all our relationships.
I’ve even been trying my hand at drawing the characters 😅

This was really fun! I loved all the music and pop culture references. I also loved that we got a wider variety of lgbtq+ characters, especially since this was set in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. I also loved that this ended on the potential for another volume. Oh! I also loved that we got to revisit the girls and see them in a band! This was so much fun, I’m giving this one four stars.
Reading Challenge Prompt Fills:
PopSugar 2023: set in the decade you were born (aka the 90’s)
Shop Your Shelves: review a book
Read Queerly 2023: lesbian main character
