Since the moment Leigh had ended her fling with Danny, her dead husband’s brother, she had been in a kind of limbo. She has been moody, depressed, afraid that she can’t escape her old life, unable to move forward.

“You’ll be fine Leigh.” Jules comforted her one night as she cried, after having a dream about Matt.

“He won’t leave me alone.” She sobbed as Jule’s grip tightened around her.

“Maybe you should move on.” She tried as Leigh shook her head no.

“I tried that.” She told her as Jules chuckled.

“I mean move on away from the Greer family.” She told her. “Maybe Y/N.” She teased as Leigh shook her head.

“They’re my step sibling.” She told her as she shoved Jules away with a laugh.

“Well, that’s never really stopped their obvious crush on you.” Jules told her as Leigh raised a brow. “Ever since we have been kids, they’ve always had heart eyes for you.”

“No.” She shook her head as Jules nodded. “That can’t be.” Her words trailed off.

After that moment, she spent days racking her brain as she remembered every moment from their childhood, from the moment her father married Y/N’s mom before she passed. Every time they had done something for her without asking, helping her with homework that she didn’t understand. Even defending her in high school when she would get bullied by the cheerleaders and the jocks.

It had been weeks since Jules’s revelation, every time she had seen Y/N around her father’s home, fixing things that needed to be fixed, she couldn’t help but let her mind wander, but she never realised that she would have to see them so soon.

“Hi?” She questioned as she answered the door to them, unsure of why they’re there with their tools.

“Your mom told me she had a problem with the washing machine.” Y/N told her as she nodded, letting them inside and watching as they walked through to the utility room. Once she closed the door, she took a deep breath before following them, watching as they started to take apart the drum.

“Do you want some coffee or water?” She asked them.

“Coffee please.” They answered with a smile, a smile that had made Leigh’s heart skip a beat for the first time. As she waited for the coffee to brew, her thoughts were plagued by them, unholy thoughts as she watched them start with the washing machine. She has already seen how strong they are, seeing them work on the new construction sight.

“Are you ok?” They asked her as they entered the kitchen.

“Yeah.” She breathed out as she kept her eyes on their movements, watching as they reached under the sink. “What are you doing?” She asked them.

“Just some bicarb, it helps with the belt.” They told her. “It was full of grime so it wasn’t spinning as well as it should have been so I've cleaned most of it but putting it on a drum wash with a cup of this inside will help more.”

“How do you know this stuff?” She asked them as they shrugged.

“I guess I’ve always liked the idea of mending things that are broken.” They told her before leaving to head into the utility room, soon followed by Leigh and two cups of coffee in her hand.

“What if you come across something you can’t fix?” She asked them as they shrugged, sipping the coffee from their cup.

“I guess if I can’t repair it, it doesn't matter how much research I do but I won’t be able to fix it, I just have to move on.” They told her as she nodded, thinking of what to say next.

“Why have you barely spoken to me since college?” She asked them.

“I don’t know.” They spoke unsurely. “I never really thought about it.”

“It’s been since the moment I met Matt.” She stated as they finished their coffee before packing away their tools, wanting to get out of the house and away from the conversation. “Is it because of your feelings for me?”

“How do you?” Y/N asked her, hurt in their eyes as she raised a brow. “I have to go.” They tried to walk past her but she stopped them.

“Just tell me the truth. I deserve that at least!” She yelled as they squeezed her eyes closed.

“Yes!” They yelled, their eyes glazed with tears. “I have been in love with you since I can remember, and yes, I became distant when you and Matt started seeing each other because it wasn’t me. It would never be me so I left you alone.” Leigh listened as they poured their heart out. “So I tried to move on from you, from this hold you have on me but I can’t and I hate it!” She watched as they stepped around her, leaving the house as Leigh remained frozen in her place.

As the hours passed, Leigh remained locked in her thoughts, wanting to apologise to Y/N but they were ignoring her calls, so she decided to ask her dad for their address. Soon racing through the city towards their house, she smiled as she remembered how they always said they wanted a nice little house, never really seeing the appeal of an apartment.

“Leigh?” They spoke unsurely as she walked around to find them chopping up firewood. “What do you want?”

“I want to apologise.” She told them. “I was out of line.”

“I respected you.” They told her. “That’s why I never acted on my feelings for you, that’s why I kept my distance because I respect you, I respect your boundaries.”

“I know that.” She tried as they shook their head.

“You don’t.” They whispered as she approached them. “I have loved you for as long as I can remember, when we were kids, you used to say that you would marry me one day.” She sighed as she remembered the moments when her father and their mom dated. “You said you would always love me more than life itself but I grew up realising that everything we had felt, it was all one sided.” They sighed as they put the axe down. “You never loved me the way I love you.”

“You don’t know that!” She yelled as she now stood before them. “We’re siblings.” She told them. “We still are.”

“I never saw you as one.” They told her. “I saw you as the one who owned my heart but I guess the joke’s on me.” She watched as they entered their house, following them as they washed their hands.

“What can I do?” She asked them as they shook their head with a dry chuckle.

“You can leave me alone.” They told her. “Just let me try to move on from you.”

“But.” She tried as Y/N gave her a sad look.

“I just need to move on from you, from what will never be because I can’t deal with this.” They told her. “So please leave.”

“No.” She whispered as they clenched their fists.

“I need you to leave.” They told her in a broken whisper. “Just leave me be and move on with your life.” They opened the door for her, waiting for her to move before she stopped before them.

“You do know that you are one of the most important people in my life.” She told them.

“Just not important enough.” They told her before closing the door behind her. Sighing as they leaned against it, squeezing their eyes as they heard her car door close, but not hearing the footsteps as she climbed the steps and knocked on the door again. Y/N opened the door reluctantly, seeing a confused Leigh, watching as she cupped their cheek, gazing into their eyes.

“I just need to see something.” She whispered as Y/N remained frozen, eyes closing as they felt her breath fan over their face, sighing as they felt her lips on theirs, kissing tenderly before their hands moved to wrap around her waist, soon finding themselves lost within each other as Leigh pushed them inside the house, kicking the door closed as she pushed them down on the sofa, straddling their lap as she felt everything and more with each passing moment, every action igniting her being as she found herself beneath them, panting and moaning as they moved down her body.

The two of them lay cuddling on the sofa, just a blanket wrapped around them as Y/N’s arms held her close. She smiled as she felt alive for the first time in years, even just the slightest touch of their fingers brushing her arm softly ignited her.

“What are you thinking?” She asked as she looked up into their eyes.

“I don’t know if this is real to you.” They told her honestly. “I just need to know because I don’t think I can stay if this doesn’t mean anything to you.” She shuffled to straddle their lap, cupping their face as she looked into their eyes.

“I guess you can say that I needed to open my eyes to what was in front of me.” She told them. “This feeling I have right now is the most alive I have felt in my life, I guess it has always been you. It’s always going to be you Y/N.” She kissed them softly before the two smiled. “We should shower.” She whispered as her hands massaged their sweaty shoulders, Y/N nodded before picking her up, carrying her up the stairs as she giggled. The two happy and content.

Heyyy sorry this took a few days! I got a little busy and didn’t expect it so for that I apologize! And thanks so much for the ask!

F. Megumi:

Something like fashion or outward appearance isn’t something that is necessarily relevant to him

That is, until he met you

Not only has he become more keen on the subject, but he’s been more self conscious too

‘Is the fabric I’m currently wearing clash with my—wait why am I thinking about this??’

He finds the humor in it a bit after but at first he completely denies thoughts like that

If you have a sketchbook, he loves to see it

Especially when there’s small cutouts of different clothes and patterns

He runs the pads of his fingers against them, enjoying the different textures

He’s also a very nice listener, if you ramble on while the rapid beats from your sewing machine are present, he makes sure to pay attention

He’s found comfort with the mechanical sound

Will be your model if you ask really nicely

But if you make clothing specifically for him and his measurements, he’s wearing that stuff around the city the next day

And you know all of his wants when it comes to clothing

so if it’s comfortable to wear, he will wear it until he literally can’t anymore

I.Toge:

Unlike Megumi, he embraces this interest very enthusiastically

He actually volunteers to be your model before you can even ask 🙏🏻

He doesn’t care if it’s something that looks ridiculous or wasn’t made for him, he’s gonna turn his dorm room into a vogue fashion show just you watch

He also views YouTube videos about the topics he’ll hear you talk about

Just so that he seems more knowledgeable even though he never knows what you’re really talking about

“Toge? What are you watching?” You asked him one day

“Tuna.” He says matter-of-factly as he points to the video he’s watching.

He loves you, so if this brings you joy he will try and educate himself on the matter

Well, unless you do that part for him

He often comes home around the same time every night, but depending on the curse he was ridding the world of,

His clothes are very often scrapped

So having someone who could mend things easily and swiftly would be very much appreciated!

He also loves to watch you work

No matter the kind of work, of course

Working at the sewing machine, quickly scribbling down ideas you have, fabric shopping with you

It’s all quite heartwarming to him

Needless to say, he gets used to it very fast

Life After Life: StarClan 101

For @medicinalmercury who has asked how StarClan works, in general.

BB!StarClan has been significantly revamped from canon, to try and make it an impressive godlike force while giving it some clearer rules. This time around, they are an awe-inspiring entity whose judgement can be clouded by their emotions.

They are also able to pull off supernatural feats, such as smiting cats with lightning and designing souls for new kittens. They have a collective power that's been formed over many generations, rivaling that of one of the four seasonal Gods.

Most importantly, StarClan is not inherently benevolent. Their goal is the preservation of the Clans. Because of the fact they are ancestors and most of them also love their descendants, they try to act in what they consider to be the best interest of the Clans as a whole.

This means they are not always the good guys, but it does mean they're more likely to be helpful than Dark Forest cats, who act in their own individual interests.

Death: GO FETCH.

Everybody dies eventually. When they do, someone has to go get you.

There are some StarClan warriors who are better at "Fetching" than others, a better sense of when someone will die, better at walking in the living world, something of the sort. But generally, a Fetcher is someone who loved the person in life who wants to bring them into StarClan.

If you have no guide to bring you to heaven, and still try to find it, you will end up in the Dark Forest.

It is possible for a fetch-ening to get interrupted, usually by a Dark Forest spirit. In the case of bloodlines that are haunted, like Appledusk's descendants, the fetchers sent are usually particularly beefy.

There's also Jayfeather specifically, whose powers are terrifying. He has the power to stave off death entirely by making a soul stay in its body, even un-fetching it by snatching it from Silverpelt. His ability is beyond StarClan.

The Trial: Judgement without Redemption

Upon arriving at StarClan, a cat must be judged. In the meanwhile, they will meet with their family at the land between StarClan and the Dark Forest. A neutral ground called the Meadow of Young Stars, a hazy, purple grassland that twinkles with tiny sparkles.

This is also the point where any unwanted injuries or scars are mended, a special "Sharing of Stars." They can regain a missing limb, a lost eye, patch up their cause of death, but it will be made of starlight.

Even a cat who ultimately goes to the Dark Forest can have their fatal wound fixed by a loved one at this time. Brokenstar's eyesight was restored by his father, Raggedstar, as an example.

(Kittens who died young can also choose the age they wish to appear as, but this is not tied to the Sharing of Stars and is simply tied to their self-perception.)

Most cats aren't there for long, as their lives are quickly reviewed and approved. For those who broke the code or inspired the ire of StarClan, a trial is held.

For a trial, a Prosecutor rises, Silverpelt (the council) juries, and all of StarClan is invited to witness.

Silverpelt is not impartial nor is it fair. The cats on it are just as prone to emotion and to the fervor of the crowd as any living cat. Cats have been unfairly damned because of StarClan's wrath; including EVERY cat who was involved in the deaths of Mapleshade’s kittens.

(Darkstar only wiggled out because she spent the rest of her lives atoning, committing herself to implementing the Queen’s Rights.)

JUDGEMENTS. ARE. PERMANENT. There is NO redemption, even for cats who modern Silverpelt would agree were judged too harshly. StarClan is a shifting entity and it is a taboo to admit their faded ancestors were incorrect.

Perhaps this will change in the future; but as of the end of Bonefall TBC, all rulings are final. If cats don't like the verdict, they are free to follow the damned into the Dark Forest.

Silverpelt: The StarClan Council.

"Who died and put you in charge?" "Myself, dipfish."

StarClan cats fade when they have peace and there is nothing left for them to do. It is a natural, and gentle thing. It's not known where a cat goes when they fade.

(If StarClan were to be disrupted, such as if all the living were to scatter and not create a collective heaven for their ancestors to exist in... these spirits would meet a truly horrible, earth-fallen fate.)

For cats who ARE remembered long after death, even mythologized by stories, they gain more power than their peers. Belief and reverence gives them bright stars, and their stories grant them special magical abilities.

Firestar is a patron of flames and breaking bad habits, Skystar is a god of war, Bumble commands language and is said to be the reason why love makes you tongue-tied.

The most powerful cats in StarClan make up Silverpelt, the bright band in the night sky, sometimes called the council. Because reverence from the living gives a spirit power, Silverpelt is mixed between the recently deceased and the ancient legends.

Silverpelt is StarClan's leadership, calling for votes and making the ultimate decisions. There is no process for "moving up" in the ranks; the brightest spirits simply have more authority.

As with everything... perhaps events in the future will disrupt this.

Godlike Aspects: The Magic Buff

As mentioned before, the most revered cats in StarClan are significantly more powerful than the cats around them. These spirits become patrons of a subject, based on what the living pray to them for.

On a wet day, a quick prayer will be called to Firestar in the hopes he will help light a cooking fire. A call will be made to Daisytail to protect kittens. Darkstar is invoked for forgiveness.

But belief is something that changes with the generations! Some patrons have surges and dips in popularity. A beloved friend who recently passed on will often be invoked over an ancient stranger. Power shifts with time.

All of StarClan shares in this collective power.

The world can turn without StarClan warriors, but they have immense power over nature. There are many things they can do;

Craft the souls of new kittens, 'designing' warriors

Manage plants and animals, growing plants and tossing more cubs into litters

Chase clouds and influence weather

Weave dreams and cause omens

Lay curses and blessings

And, of course, receive prophetic visions of the future, and choose when and how they will share them.

Most spirits are good at some things, and terrible at others. There are also cats who choose not to partake in any particular jobs, simply enjoying their well-earned rest.

There are also individual warriors who are naturally more powerful than others, either because of their willpower, connection to the living, or just because they were particularly spiritual in life.

And finally, the sum of StarClan's power is greater than its individual parts. This terrifying collective power is heavily emotion-based.

When StarClan is furious, they can collectively accomplish impressive actions, such as rolling in massive storms or smiting cats with lightning... with a drawback. StarClan has a hard time doing such large actions "on purpose."

THE DESCRIPTION OF SAINT JOHN The Evangelist and Apostle Whom Jesus Loved Feast Day: December 27

St. John, the beloved apostle of Jesus, was the son of Zebedee and the brother of James the Greater. As they were mending their nets on the sea of Galilee, Jesus passed by and called them. Immediately, they left their boat and their father Zebedee and follow Jesus. According to the Gospel of Mark, Jesus nicknamed them Boanerges, meaning 'sons of thunder', on account of their strong temperament.

John was the youngest of the apostles, and he defined himself as the apostle whom Jesus loved. He was present at the Transfiguration, and during the Last Supper, he leaned on Jesus' breast to ask for the name of the betrayer. During the crucifixion, John is the only apostle who stood at the foot of the cross, receiving the sublime mission to care for the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of the Lord.

According to tradition in 49 AD, John settled at Ephesus, where he witnessed Mary's assumption. From there, he was exiled to the island of Patmos, where he wrote the Book of Revelation (Apocalypse). He returned to Ephesus a few years later, where he wrote three letters, which contain the sublime definition of the divinity: 'God is love.' There, he also wrote the fourth Gospel, whose sublime theology was represented in art as an eagle.

When John was already old, he used to speak to his flock only these words: 'My little children, love one another.'

When they asked him why he kept repeating the same sentence, he replied: 'Because it is word of the Lord, and if you keep it you do enough.'

John died in peace at Ephesus in 101 AD.

Terrible Fic Idea #53: House of the Dragon, but make it Quasi-Salic

Everything about the Great Council of 101 AC sets Westeros up for a future Dance of Dragons - and always would have, regardless of the outcome. There's no way around that. Rhaenys was the only child of Jaehaerys I's oldest son, Aemon. Viserys I was the oldest son of the king's second son, Baelon. The choice of Viserys I as king goes against every tradition of the Seven Kingdoms save chauvinism - and sets the stage for a thousand future wars of succession.

But the other frontrunner in the Council was not Rhaenys: it was her son, Laenor. Had the Council chosen him, it would have set a precedent among the Targaryens for Quasi-Salic inheritance - and, likely enough, lead to the exact same situation we find ourselves in in HotD.

Or: What if Laenor Velaryon had acceded to the Iron Throne after the death of Jaehaerys I?

Bear with me:

Quasi-Salic inheritance excludes females from the line of inheritance, but allows their male children to inherit their claim.

In HotD, this would mean that inheritance would pass through all of Prince Aemon's male descendants before Prince Baelon's claim could be considered. Princess Rhaenys would still be excluded, but her son Laenor would inherit her claim.

Until Laenor had a male heir, next in line of succession would be Viserys I, his male heirs, Prince Daemon, his male heirs, &c.

Under this law, none of Laenor, Viserys I, or Daemon's daughters could hold the throne in their own right, which seems in accordance with Andal thinking.

Just imagine it:

Laenor becomes king following Jaehaerys I's death in 103. He is nine years old. His mother, Princess Rhaenys, is regent - but Otto Hightower remains Hand of the King, in part to retain a sense of continuity in the realm, in part because he's actually good at his job.

Meanwhile, Prince Viserys is either given the lands along the Blackwater Rush (that would, in a different future, be given to Daemon I Blackfyre) or a minor role at court. His need for male heirs is not as pressing as in canon, but still kills his wife and leaves him only with a single living child, his daughter Rhaenyra.

Once her son is old enough, Princess Rhaenys needs to find Laenor a Valyrian bride so that he can produce heirs as soon as possible. While pairing him with his sister Laena is attractive, that does nothing to mend the fences broken by the Great Council. And so Laenor and Rhaenyra wed for much the same reasons they do in canon - albeit at few years earlier.

Until they produce a son, Viserys is still next in line to the throne and without any male heirs of his own. This changes after he marries Alicent Hightower - again, for much the same reasons in canon (because Otto may be good at his job, but he's also in it for himself, as are most people who rise to become Hand; Viserys is still the best groom he can get for his daughter by medieval standards) - who births three sons and a daughter in short order.

Problems start when Rhaenyra gives birth to a son - Jace, who looks nothing like his father - and continues with the births of Luke and Joffery. Bastards, everyone whispers.

Things get worse with the birth of her younger children - Aegon, Viserys, and Visenya - for while they look the image of Valyrian royalty, many assume they're actually the children of her uncle and goodbrother, Prince Daemon, who is seen more often in Rhaenyra's company than her husband.

Though Laenor maintains Rhaenyra's children are his, there are many who begin looking towards Viserys to succeed him.

Then in 129 AC, two things happen: Laenor Valeryon and Viserys Targaryen both die - perhaps in the same hunting mishap, perhaps from an illness that sweeps through the Crownlands.

Jacaerys is crowned king...

...and the people rebel.

There are a variety of reasons why people would not be happy with the king's legally recognized heir succeeding him, ranging from 1) not wanting a bastard on the throne to 2) not wanting someone partial to Daemon - and inclined to take his advice - on the throne to 3) genuinely disliking the policies implemented during Laenor's reign and hoping for a return to the good times under a Targaryen king to 4) wanting to use the chaos as a ladder for their own advancement. Like the canon Dance of Dragons, it's a complicated intersection of social, political, religious, and economic issues at play.

And that's really all I have - the same players, the same game, just a slightly different board. The actual outcome of this Dance and how it comes about is entirely dealer's choice, but the takeaway should be that these characters were always doomed by their circumstances to a war they could possibly stop if they tried - only to see it play out in the next generation or the next, until war has wiped out all alternative contenders.

Bonuses include: 1) Laenor being a doting father and a sweetheart of a human being, but a disappointment as a king. He is indecisive, generous, friendly, easily swayed by his friends, and - ultimately - not strong enough to stand on his own in the cutthroat world of Westerosi politics; 2) Less concentration being given to the people in power than the children who will succeed them: Jace, Aegon II, and their respective siblings. The focus should be their bright childhoods and friendships being destroyed by the realities of their positions, which are entirely out of their control; and 3) In keeping with previous, a childlike wonder at Westeros and the glittering court at the Red Keep that slowly turns dark and heavy with the burden of adult expectations and inherited sins placed on young shoulders. The fracturing of a storybook, safe world into the nightmare that Westerosi politics actually is. Or: coming of age in the Seven Kingdoms.
