Thought it was meh so far. Not terrible, but not great.

Then again, my expectations are on the floor. Helluva Boss’s writing is too inconsistent for me to put 100% of my faith into Hazbin Hotel.

I hope the show actually gets good and doesn’t receive praise solely for being an indie animation. A cartoon needs great animation and writing to be memorable (just look at Avatar: The Last Airbender).

Not all that excited about the rest of the season. I was on the edge of my seat for each episode of Invincible and Our Flag Means Death. But this? I’d come back if I was bored or heard something interesting happened (like how Jailbreak from SU pulled me back in).

I liked “Hell is Forever” and “Respectless”. I skipped the other songs a couple seconds in because I couldn’t get into them.

And personally, I thought the animation was a massive downgrade. Some scenes were better than others (the music videos obviously), but everything else? Meh. The quality was more consistent in Helluva Boss and even the original pilot. The characters just felt stiff in shots where their whole body was in frame. They weren’t in Default Family Guy Stand poses (obviously), but the way they moved felt…off.

Side note: My sister hated all of the new voice actors. I personally couldn’t hear any difference besides Husk (great), Katie Killjoy (awful), and Tom Trench (meh). Valentino needed a much deeper voice, but his scene with Angel wasn’t bad.

Lucius Fox is in the drive thru for some coffee, and like. He's just. He's had a time, okay?

He's stuck on some equations in regard to the amount of torsion a joint would go through if it's half in his dimension and half in another, and it's driving him up a wall.

He's been up for like forty-eight hours, he's tired, he's thirsty, he just wants a coffee, and also how to solve this dilemma.

He doesn't expect the barista in the drive-thru he's ranting about the engineering issues to actually provide decent feedback, and give him a few alternatives.

So he rushes to the pick-up window, not even caring to order, to look at this godsend of a barista.

It's a scrawny kid with black hair and blue eyes, looking startled. Boy can't be more than eighteen.

He asks what college the kid is going to, or plans to go to.

To his absolute horror, the kid-Danny, according to the nametag-says he can't afford college. That he'd had a stint in highschool where he just hadn't been able to focus, and his parents had spent every penny they had on their own inventions.

So that was why he was a barista; because if he worked there for four years, they would offer tuition assistance.

Which.

No. No no no no no.

Lucius pulls around to march into the store, Bruce Motherfucking Wayne already blearily on his phone.

He is getting this kid, and any friend of his, into college.

If Bruce won't foot the bill, he will.

Honestly, Danny is having such a good time right now. He gets to travel with Ellie, explore space, just have fun. Plus his secondary protector-instincts are having soothed despite him not technically doing any hero-ing anymore. Really his sister had the right idea when she decided she wanted to become a doctor, this is honestly a blast.

And if someone does end up passing away, well, Ellie is always happy to help soothe their spirit and guide them to the Realms where they can reach their respective afterlife. Or become a ghost.

They are completely oblivious to the fact that there are now legends and entire temples dedicated to them now. Apparently accidental ascension is in fact a thing, as Dan later laughs at them about.

the body is such a strange and vapid creature. i am eating soup with noodles that i cooked in a microwave. i don't know how microwaves work, only that most of my meals come from her yellow mouth. i put mine on the fridge; i have to stand on tip toes to take the bowl out, balancing it on fingertips.

i have to eat soup because i'm coughing up blood.

when you have been raised wrong, conditions of alarm are offset. which is to say that three weeks ago, i had a panic attack because i thought i saw him the liquor store. i collapsed into a heap, ready to sob into multicolored gin bottles. it was just someone who looked a lot like him, working a shitty 9-5. the poor man. what must it be like, to have someone go pale at your profile.

i spoke too loudly during a zoom meeting, and nobody answered immediately. the shame of that scoured my entire ribcage clean. i hated the experience so much i wrote it down in my notes: a reminder not to be so fucking annoying!

but the conditions of alarm are met at the moment. i am well-and-truly ill, the blood in my hand and on the pavement. at this moment in dr. house episodes i would be swaying, and then i'd collapse delicately and awaken in a crisp hospital bed. instead my dog bites my hand in excitement. now there is blood on his muzzle.

i am diabolically, almost robotically calm about it. i laugh about it, actually. i am feeling positively waifish. i am one nightgown away from holding an oil lamp up and saying milord? are thee turnin' in for the night? new blood is pinkish, almost feminine in her brightness, a tease into the tissue.

i haven't ever cried at a funeral. i didn't know you were actually allowed to. it felt like new blood - a way of making it about me, when my job is to flatter the shadows and stay tucked out of the way. i am always doing something for someone else. i am always earning my keep. i am always loveable, because i will do what it takes to make you able to love me.

here are the personal things i have been worried about in the last three weeks: if the spider i put outside was now able to restart her life. if an hour and a half every day is enough walking for a greyhound. if i drink too much coffee. if all my friends secretly hate me. if i'm a bad friend and i should be sad about it. what happens after this next goalpost? what if i'm deeply and inherently boring?

i cough up blood. my mouth tastes like iron gummies. i am not worried about this. my body is a seahorse. my body is an ocean wave. i can detach from it, be outside of it - just float away.

Spy obviously has no problems with pretending to know how much a gallon of milk is, he just peeks into his conversion chart notes, pretending it's his shopping list.

I want to think Heavy is completely fine with having to readjust to a new unit system, he just eyeballs most practical things anyways by holding them up and mumbling about how they approximately weigh like a chicken or his kettle bell etc. He's always been living in practical ignorant bliss.

Medic has a peer reviewed meltdown the first time he realises there's no uniformity in "a cup of ____" because every object has different densities. He's diligent about memorising the conversion rates for ounces, pounds, the most common things etc., and recovers ok. He goes through the same stages of grief rage when he finds out about distances and lengths.

Just remember four inches are 10.16 cm and pray no one asks you to specify anything bigger than inches.

Everyone does a mental victory lap when they manage to guess how much Celsius the weather is because they keep forgetting it's Celsius*5/9+32=Fahrenheit, Engineer reminds them patiently.

The true victories are the correct temperature guesses we've made along the way.

One time, a friend asked me if I actually knew how much a tablespoon of flour was in gramms to convince me that metric users also make use of volume based units without thinking about them. But little did she know a heaped spoonful of 405 flour is about 15g and a level tablespoon is 10g.

They claim Oolong just tastes better when it's boiled to 80°C exactly with a Bunsen burner.

So I was watching this video for the 1,000th time and realized something.

Anyone else theorize that Hollyhock is the spitting image of Butterscotch’s mom? I feel like there’s too much setup (the diamond from Beatrice and the hair for Henrietta) for it not to be the case.

It’s also weird that Bojack and Hollyhock are dark brown; both their horse parents have light colorings (tan or gray). The only people on Beatrice’s side with dark brown fur are her mother and brother.

But remember, Butterscotch had Hollyhock with Henrietta. The only way Hollyhock can be brown is if someone in his family also has that coloring. We never see Butterscotch’s family, but his mother is the only one who gets mentioned multiple times.

I’m willing to bet that if the show wasn’t canceled, this would’ve been confirmed.

i think we are all in agreement that Harrow would have some sort of medical event if taken to the club but I posit that Gideon would also do poorly in the club environment. incredibly important Gideon Nav character trait is that she thinks she's hot shit but when faced with real people and real social situations she is not only shy, she is *thankful* for any excuse to not talk and also leave

i think she would do acceptably well if given a bodyguard or bouncer position (stand there with sunglasses, look vaguely menacing, don't make small talk), but would *hate* going as a normal patron.
