I'm sorry I'm still not over Riz taking the High Fantasy Equivalent Of Speed except no one remembers he weighs 25 pounds soaking wet so instead of Calming The Hell Down like we all know in our heart of hearts Riz would do if he actually took properly dosed stimulants he just sprints through all 9 phases of hyperfocus and ascends to neurodivergent godhood and starts solving mysteries you've never heard of and then becomes paranoid that someone's gonna take his memories so he goes up to a pirate and asks them to tattoo his red string conspiracy board on his flesh

I was thinking that it was crazy that the Gukgaks didn't get any kind of financial assistance - including money for post-secondary education - from the government after Pok's death, given his successful track record and dying in the line of duty.
And then I remembered that Kalina pulled strings to get Pok on a list of enemies of the state right before his death which would probably be the equivalent of a dishonorable discharge, and revoke any of that assistance that would have come otherwise.
So it's another thing Kalina took from Riz, besides his father - his chance at college, without running himself into the ground to get there.

can’t get it out of my head how BRILLIANT kipperlilly’s backstory is. it was almost funny at first because it’s such a shallow, ridiculous reason to hate someone, but the more i linger on it, the more it makes me sick to my stomach to think about how much riz and the bad kids have been through and how unfair it is that she’s putting them through hell because she thinks she wants something that she fundamentally doesn’t understand
on top of all the ways that it ties perfectly into the story brennan’s telling, it pulls the audience into feeling the exact same rage towards kipperlilly that’s been affecting the characters all throughout this season - that stomach-churning, throat-closing-up, righteous conviction that something just isn’t fair.
