dazai and chuuya are so utterly sickening. they knew each other at their absolute lowest, totally fucking hated each other, and would let the city burn for one another. they'd sacrifice the world for each other but would also be perfectly happy if the other was the one being sacrificed.

(actually no. chuuya wouldn't be in that position and mori would make chuuya save dazai but my point still stands. they're awful and i love them)

headcanon: dazai definitely made chuuya play gay chicken on multiple occasions. ( and obviously he won every time)

I tried my best to clean it, but this was really hard :( so in case anyone doesn't like how I cleaned it, I also added the original!

love fics where dazai realised he loved chuuya in the pm but chuuya realised it after he left. like only after dazai was gone could he start to name the feelings he felt. feelings he never let himself think on bc their rs was already messy in pm. but now that dazai is gone he thinks about it one day and he’s like.

oh.

i love the idea that chuuya’s oh moment is so sad and devastating. its angry and sad. its heartbreaking. bc now dazai is gone and chuuya doesnt know if he’ll ever see him again.

on the other side of town dazai is staring at the ceiling unable to sleep and thinking of chuuya.

just reread storm bringer and cried all my tears. my heart breaks for my lovely boy chuuya. he didn't deserve everything that happened to him. i wanna hug him tightly. it hurts to even think about it.

and listen i understand why some people hate dazai after this novel, but my opinion hasn't changed because i never idealized him. what dazai did to chuya is just disgusting. dazai was a killer, thinking in cold blood, working for the mafia. it's been known since season 2. this case was no exception, osamu prioritized protecting mori and the port mafia, he was doing his job. so why storm bringer is so surprising for a lot of people... i don't understand. dazai was a terrible person in the past, but he really changed after joining the agency. almost all the characters bungo stray (gay) dogs are not exclusively positive and perfect, they are all gray, with their own traumas and mistakes. that's why i love this manga/anime sm. i don't condone dazai and his actions, but I still love him immensely. in general, I don't like people who idealize dazai because he's not like that, and it’s ok, but I don't like people who trash dazai and his fans even more. they look through the characters and divide the world into black and white.

what about chuuya... he means the world to me, and i'm just happy that he is who he is, strong enough to be able to survive such traumatic events. i'm proud of him, so insanely proud. no regrets at all that it was chuya who became my favorite bungo stray dogs character.

and yeah - i will always love soukoku even if they had that fucking dark age.

An exerpt.

Chuuya notices the change in the floor under his feet now polished and a lighter hue. Remaining mindful of the constraints his kimono puts on the length of his strides. They pass through a hallway lined with grand shining pillars and he bobs his head up to see mesmerising bright paintings of forest cloves and farmlands. All of the scenes feel hauntingly familiar to him and he loses himself in trying to capture the details, like a faraway cherry blossom, a canary in a toddler's hand. 

That's when he missteps, feeling the rim of his dress catch and a pull on his veil. He expects to crash onto the floor but feels himself spin mid-tumble. An arm wraps around his waist and his head falls back to have his eyes widened at the proximity of the man. He looks up at the ghost through his eyelashes, in awe of the disguise that he adopted. An oval face with a forehead hidden by curly brown bangs and narrow chocolate brown eyes that gape at him with parted lips.  

Chuuya knows this isn’t sane, as he remains still with his body tilted and lost but he is unable to ignore the intensity of emotions swirling in those deep brown eyes, emotions that hit him like flowing waters from a flooded river which has broken all boundaries.
