★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★ I can't wait to share my journey with all of you! Please keep in mind that my pathway to becoming a PA is certainly nontraditional. So for those of you who find differences in my program and yours, let me know! I want to hear from you just as much as I want to show you! That includes EVERONE... PA, MD, DO, NP, CRNA, RN, LPN, CNA... Litterally everyone is welcome! Medicine is a field built on teamwork and diversity, so let's embrace it! One of my favorite things as a student is teaching other people about my major. I worked very hard in highschool and was fortunate to be accepted into a 3+2 Physician Assistant Program. The program essentially eliminates one year of undergraduate studies given that we maintain a certain GPA each semester. Upon completion of the first three years, we automatically matriculate into the "professional phase" of the program which is an additional two years. During the "professional phase" we attend classes specifically for Physician Assistant Students. The first year of the "professional phase" is mostly bookwork along with simulation labs. The second year of the "professional phase" is entirely clinical rotations. We will be placed into eight different medical specialties and each rotation lasts six weeks. So that's the basic rundown of my program. Let me know what you think. 1. Are you interested in the medical field? 2. Where are you at in life right now? 3. Do you know any Physician Assistants? •°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•° •°•°•°•°•°•°• •°•°•°•°•°•°• •°•°•°•°•°•°• #physicianassistant #pastudent #medicalstudent #medical #medicalprogram #health #science #teamwork #education #medicalquestions https://www.instagram.com/p/BtJ5a3gnL4a/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ufp8jrna7n3e

20 Days Until Phalloplasty
I got my lab tests back. Everything looks good except for one thing: My Neutrophils are slightly low. Neutrophils are your white blood cells responsible for fighting of infection. ( see results below ). I looked back on past tests and it has kind on of been off and on low before, so maybe this is normal for me. I haven’t gotten sick all year and have never gotten any sort of infection so personally I don’t see it as an issue but I am not a surgeon. I have no idea if this is means for concern or cancellation BUT of course, my mind is freaking out about it. Does anyone know if surgeries are cancelled over this?
For all I know he isn’t concerned. I just got my tests back at like 9pm last night so its not like I can email or etc. I just hope they let me know if anything is of concern for cancellation before I am actually in the hospital about to get wheeled in. ( That happened to a friend of mine before a hysto ).
My anxiety is out of control today.

Hey everyone, I know a lot of you have been DMing me lately to post about the coronavirus pandemic; I am a doctor day job-wise and I've had to set aside the music and basically everything else for a while now that COVID-19 is ravaging through the US and the rest of the world. Many of you have also had questions with lots of requests for me to upload videos to hrlp answer.. I just wanted to let you know with this post that I will be following up and providing as much information as I can in an independent commenting capacity; as you can imagine things are pretty hectic right now (I myself have been looking into adapting a piece of drug-repurposing discovery software that I created for a very different disease class) but I'll do my best to reach out and inform as best I can in subsequent postings.  First and foremost, please, please take this thing seriously. The vast majority of those who contract SARS-CoV-2 do survive it without need for hospitalization, but it's extraordinarily contagious and harmful to a large enough percentage of patients that it would overwhelm our hospitals if it becomes too widespread; we simply don't have enough hospital beds let alone trained physicians and nurses to cover everyone if it goes unchecked. So social distancing, as inconvenient as it may be, really is essential right now, and this thing can be quite dangerous even to those outside the high-risk groups (including to children). Just know that there are a lot of excellent people around the world working to overcome this thing, and countries and regions like South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, and Singapore have shown that COVID-19 can be brought under control, even during this nerve-wracking period before we have an effective treatment or vaccine.  I'll be back with more soon. Stay safe everyone. #coronavirus #COVID19 #doctor #questionsfordoctor #questionsforphysician #SARS #SARSCOV2 #socialdistancing  #staysafe #southkorea #vaccine #treatment #coronavirustreatment #drugdiscovery #drugrepurposing #plague #pandemic #coronaviruspandemic #spanishflu #smallpox #germtheory #physician #medicalquestions #louispasteur #robertkoch  #quarantine #medicalresearch (at Cinncinati,Ohio) https://www.instagram.com/p/B92tqShnha7/?igshid=3ndz0gb6w83a

Hey Delegation! Question: should I be concerned aboot this major pain on my right side/lower back? I don't know if it's due to all these coughing/asthma fits or the fact I been hitting Rockstar Punched like 40 going north because my cough meds make me sleepy (and I had two kids on spring break so rest was not an option). Talk to me, fam! #MedicalQuestion #HelpNeeded

Pap smear (or Pap test) is a medical test that helps doctors figure out if there are any problems with a girl's cervix (the lower part of the uterus that opens into the vagina). The importance of the Pap smear is in the early detection, before there are any symptoms. Finding abnormal cells early can lead to treatment that prevents the development of cancer, and detecting cancer cells early enough can lead to greater chance of a cure. Teen girls don't need to get Pap smears unless their doctors think something's wrong. Once a girl turns 21, she should start getting regular Pap smears as a way to monitor her health. Women in their 20s with normal Pap smear results should have the test every 3 years. Some women might need to get tested more often, though. So ask your doctor. The Pap smear shouldn't hurt, but it might be uncomfortable. The good news is, it's over quickly. #papsmear #cervix #cervicalcancerprevention #cervicalscreening #cervicalcancerawarenessmonth #cervicalpain #cervical #vaginaknowledge #vaginafacts #vaginalhealthmatters #vaginalhealth #preventionisbetterthanacure #uterusproblems #uterus #uterusinfection #womenhealth #womenquestions #femalehealthissues #femalehealthissues #femalebody #bodycare #bodyissues #betterhealthcare #medicalquestions https://www.instagram.com/p/CKEM5hCBcAg/?igshid=hz6qj2xcwy1t

do you know of any reliable websites or subreddits where I can get medical advice for free from an actual doctor? I can't afford to go to make an appointment with my local gp and I don't want to go to the public hospital because its not an emergency and they're already overwhelmed by the influx of COVID-19 patients
If you’re in the US and have health insurance, your insurance may have a phone number you can call for a nurse advice line.  Usually you can find the number on the back of your medical ID card. Basically, you call and they can connect you with a nurse who can answer any medical questions you might have.  Because that’s regulated and through your insurance, it’s probably your best bet at safe, free advice.
Otherwise, there are a few online services you can try, although I can’t vouch for how good they are. The Research Medical Center, Your Doctors Online, and Ask A Doctor are all options you might look at.
On Reddit, there’s also r/diagnoseme and r/medicalquestions.  Only take advice from verified users on there; there are a lot of people who like to play doctor but don’t actually know what they’re talking about.  Real doctors have a flair next to their name that indicates their specialty.

Metformin is a very commonly prescribed medication. Most often give for diabetes-one if the first choice meds for many prescribed when treating new diabetics. Metformin does not typically cause hypoglycemia. Metformin is also give for PCOS and metabolic syndrome. There are some drawbacks about metformin. Most common side effects are gastrointestinal related-nausea vomiting and diarrhea. Taking with food generally lessens these side effects. Also over time these side effects can go away. This med can also cause lactic acidosis. Sometimes lactic acid is drawn in hospital and people mistake a patient as septic because lactic is high (and other things) and it might simply be the metformin causing. Also can amcause renal failure. Must be held after given contrast at least 48 hours after #nursingstudent #nursingschool #nclex #metformin #metforminpcos #lpnstudent #lpnschool #nursingmemes #nursingschoolproblems #nursing_student #nursinglife #nclexrn #nclexpn #medical #medicalquestions https://www.instagram.com/p/B2ViL3kgVI9/?igshid=1aorrhj1jo4hg

Whenever a medical questionnaire asks what my method of contraception is, inside I’m like “handjobs!” See also “gayer than Christmas.”
Today I’m seeing a queer healthcare provider who I am kind of friends with and I gave in: "GAYER THAN CHRISTMAS!" The questionnaire is full of loads of seriously heavy questions about family trauma, so I had to lighten it up somehow!
Tldr; really wish the medical establishment would clue in that there's a lot of ways to bone w/o making new humans.
