In Thing 67 I quoted Jeremy Corbyn who had written about the Tory plan to destroy the NHS.

“How to destroy the NHS:

Step 1. Run it into the ground with austerity

Step 2. Exploit the crisis to empower the private sector

Step 3. Abolish the principle of universal health care." (Corbyn:Twitter: 03/01/2)

I then gave some examples of how Steps1 and 2 were already being implemented but stated that we had not yet reached Step 3.

“No politician has yet come forward to openly advocate the abolition of the principle of universal health care, free at the point of use. We will have to wait and see if Corbyn is the dangerous socialist portrayed by the right-wing press, or a man with more forward vision than all of the Tory Party put together.”

This position has now changed. The senior Tory politician Sajid Javid is today calling for a two-tiered system, where the better off pay for NHS treatment, thereby ending the principle of treatment free at the point of use.

“Patients should be charged for visits to the doctor and to accident and emergency, Savid Javid has said, with the Conservative former health secretary labelling the current NHS system as “unsustainable” (LBC: 21/01.23)

Mr Corbyn has been proved right after all!

Dr. W. G. Carscadden. through his counsel, P. Taglietti, asked payment of a $100 bill by Nicholas Rynck, Leonard St. The account was disputed by B. Grossberg, counsel for defendant.

"We dispute the claim in full, your honor," said counsel. "We do not owe the plaintiff anything-he was not engaged by my client."

"In any case the charges are excessive and we demand full particulars," said counsel. Dr. Carscadden told his honor that Rynek had been admitted to St. Michael's hospital in an unconscious condition following a motor accident. and he had been called by the hospital to attend Rynck.

"Are you employed by the hospital?" "No. I am not on salary, but I am very often called in for public consultation."

Sorry for the lack of posts. I’ve been wrangling the hospital.

Long story short my left eye needs urgent surgery for a detached retina, that i need to pay 6k upfront, because my international insurance can only reimburse me later. I dont have that money. If i dont, i stand the potential of going blind in that eye permanently.

If anyone is interested in 20 dollar rough commisions or 10 dollar sketches, please contact me via messages. Ill do anything to get that money.

truly humbling to go from gifted kid and top of my high school class to only kid accepted to ivy league school to graduating with honors and one of two students to go onto a PhD program to president of your field’s professional association to the idiot who took eight years to graduate and the only graduate you know to be unemployed with zero job prospects after finishing said PhD program

#i have lost track of how many students have come and gone through my lab but i do remember every. single. one. of them had a job lined up #and here i am #having one of those nights where i feel like a total loser with a capital L don’t mind me #also all my friends are saying things like ‘trust the process’ and ‘enjoy the time off’#like i’m sorry i’m stressed but i have bills to pay and have a major medical procedure coming up that i’m barely insured for #i’ve been making grad student wages for EIGHT YEARS. i do not have a nest egg. i don’t want to ‘trust the process’#anyway i’ve gone from complaining about school to complaining about not school but that’s what happens when you’re feeing like a Loser #tbd

I interrupt my regular programing to ask for some help for one of my closest friends. I've been helping her out when I can but I definitely can't afford to cover all her medical and living costs.

She has multiple things going on health wise, including:

Endometriosis that has spread unto bowels, kidney, liver, lungs

Chronic nerve degeneration and chronic pain

Ruptured ACL + damage to PCL and MCL

Brainstem cyst

Breast lump (soon to be surgically removed)

Plus chronic mental health concerns

She has high ongoing medical costs and due to her poor health as well as frequent hospital admissions she is unable to have regular income. It's also been surprisingly difficult to access disability payments. I worry so much about her, as this is taking such a constant toll on her due to stress, and being unable to afford basic needs such as food or medication.

Obviously, please don't give if you are unable to for your own finances, but if you are able to help out we would really appreciate it. Feel free to share this around also if you are able.

So I just had an idea about fundraising.

You know how sometimes it's pointed out that "If everyone who follows x or views y donated one dollar, z would be paid for"? But since there's no reason to really expect that to happen... most people probably just... don't bother, and the thing either doesn't get funded, or it does because of some very lucky outreach to some generous well-off people.

What if we had some kind of commitment poll? Not a Tumblr poll for the real thing (God no that wouldn't work), but the kind of surveys you put in your email for and you get the results when it's done. And the poll is just, "If X amount of people click this button too, I will donate $1 to the cause." Then you could be pretty certain (barring a massive amount of liars) that your one dollar is making all the difference.

Literally ghoulish to the point she should have her medical license revoked. Like actually fully what is wrong with you that you are comfortable just going "ok so here's all the plastic surgery you should get and i even did a little photoshop to show you the end result :)" to a complete stranger. Getting a good hit of indica that’s a little stronger than vapes I had last time after I ran out of my indica is Hallelujah Praise The LORD and that kid with ADHD

#poetry #my work #lane archives #chronic pain #chronic migraines #chronic illness #this poem is still pretty ouch #the us medical system can really suck in its cyclical lack of progress regarding finding out what's “wrong” with a person #due to crazy long wait times for appointments & processing referrals as well as 4 profit health insurance #my chronic migraines had to escalate into epilepsy for me to be seen by an actual neurologist and be taken seriously & even now I still fee #neglected by the system #not because my drs are bad but because they're overloaded with patients #it's really exhausting & difficult to have to fight at every turn to receive the care we need & deserve when we're bent over in pain #in my experience this repetitive cycle really broke down my ability to advocate for myself for a while because I was just too depressed #but hey if you're reading this and you relate: I love you. You deserve to feel better and to be supported by your physicians #I'm getting better care now but healing isn't linear #and if you have insurance & you're feeling absolutely fucking crushed by the system pls look up if they have a nurse advice line & call the #to see if they're able to set up a complex care coordination plan & if the nurses themselves can set up appointments for you #it really helps to have an insurance lady or 3 you can call to set up appts & referrals or check on them to see where they're stuck #I could write a poem dedicated to all the wonderful women in social services who are literally saving my life every time they call
