Okay, so I've been on a fighting game kick recently and under the influence of a certain someone (*cough* check out @icy-spicy she's awesome *cough*) I've been looking into a lot of Mortal Kombat.

I've also seen a bunch of these "Reader Intros" kicking around and wanted to try my hand at some!

I'm picturing Reader as a sorceress, a bit of a wild card, not really good or bad, but is determined in achieving her own goals. Pretty and clever and alluring and well aware of it too. I might try and do something with her if I can find the muse haha.

Songs and musings in the Key of Peña-Rockford

(Those gun holsters have me all fucked up. Seriously.)

I warned y'all about how obsessive my hyperfocus can get, right? Damn ADHD. The choke hold (all the puns intended) that this fic idea has on me is unreal, haha. But all of your comments and encouragements about this Rockford Pena WIP are making me so happy and relieving some of the stress I feel about writing it - thank you! I don't have another snippet to share just yet (so I hope this post isn't too much of a cock tease), but since I always love to read about character thots and writing processes (e.g. the extra posts by @mysterious-moonstruck-musings about her Destiny & Deliverance series, and @gracieispunk with her White Lotus posts), I figured I'd post a little update with some musings and songs I'm associating with this fic.

My Spotify currently is curated by @sin-djarin, who somehow knew just the right songs that relate to this WIP. Particularly these three tracks are on constant repeat. Going back and forth with her about little things that come up, or question ‘why this and not’ has been so much fun really. It makes me giddy because it turns the fic into something collaborative rather than just something from the inside of my brain, you know?

Whisper - Morphine

I included this track the other day already with the WIP snippet; it’s sexy and slow and that bass line really gets to me, then the saxophone ups it even more. @sin-djarin sent me several Morphine songs (I have to admit that somehow I wasn’t familiar with them) but this one stands out. The push and pull that’s happening in the lyrics is also delicious, and a lot of it feels like it’s coming from Rockford’s POV about Javi - that’s all I’ll say about it for now.

A Perfect Twist - Mike Patton

This song has an exuberant, rather bombastic vibe to it that I would’ve never associated with anything related to Peña. Although, those lyrics... they are definitely about brat taming.

Broad Daylight - Gabriel Rios

This is the only song that suddenly came to me re: this fic, and I was all… the fuck is this. I like the song, it's catchy, but it just didn’t make any sense to me with regard to Javi and Tim. The only thing I could think of in relation to the track was maybe a vague reference of Peña getting caught up with Los Pepes, things that were done in the dark and shouldn't come out in the daylight:

Back in the old days, tight like a fight Used to hang with the devil in the broad daylight

But still, it puzzled me. I think something in one of the Morphine songs musically led me to Broad Daylight, weird as that may sound. After way too many replays of that song (and @sin-djarin joking about 'what are those Polaroids Tim has on Javi?', since the song mentions polaroids), the relevance of the song finally clicked with me;

We'll see how it goes from there.

At some point, there's also going to be a bit of Marcus Pike in the fic (pancakes!). I have to be honest - I don’t really read a lot of Marcus!fic, so I’ve been trying to figure out how he fits in and some of his character traits etc. But the wonderful @secretelephanttattoo was very quick to offer me some insights about Marcus that I needed! Go read it here.

TBH, I had absolutely not planned to write anything about Peña any time soon, because why I love him in canon and in the many fics I've read, I didn't exactly feel like I had a good enough handle on writing something about him that has some plot rather than just fucking. But then this fic idea popped up. If there's anyone who knows him really well, it's @goodwithcheese (you'd better be reading her incredible new story Paranoid Heart about Javi!). So I dropped some questions and fortunately she was totally up for some character chat right here, which is really helping me figure out some things. Thank you babe, and I hope more people will contribute thots to your 1K Celebration Confessional about their sins!

Also, I've been trying to put a time and place to the fic, but I've decided to not get too hung up about that because it's really not literature but Fic/Porn With Plot. It doesn't all have to make sense. But in case you're curious, I'm leaning towards this taking place in the US in recent enough times that smartphones are a thing.

Age wise, I'm seeing Tim Rockford as being 48/50 years old probably. Javier is about 40, 41 years old - just to give you an idea of 'which Javi' I'm looking at, I've got a sense of him as he is in Narcos S2 around episode 4-9, after Carillo is murdered, and Berna takes him to see Judy Moncada.

Reader insert (I know, I haven't spoken a lot about her yet!) is probably about 40 years old too. And finally, Marcus Pike is give r take about 37 years old, which corresponds with his Mentalist appearance.

BTW, I came across an edit that had all of the Tim Rockford bits from the ads without the additional stuff. A whopping total of 48 seconds. Man, I hope that Pedro is aware of how fucked up he has us about Rockford with less than a minute of his acting. Even my wife said 'I would totally watch a show or movie based on this character' when I played the Merge Mansion ads for her.

Finally, here's a video of Pedro talking about "real fantasy fullfillment in terms of getting to immerse yourself in an experience" and how he "loves being a detective, that's fantasy fullfilment for me" re: the Merge Mansion event day.

Is there any particular artist, show, game, or movie that inspired ur art style? It’s so pretty ^^

I have so many!!! I definitely can't name every single one but heres a few that have been extremely influential to me!! This took me 2 hours to write i am SO sorry lmao

Puyo Puyo (Specifially Fever, Quest, and Tetris)

CUTESY BRIGHT BRIGHT COLORS!!!!!! Thats everything I love!!!!!! I'm pretty sure I talked about this when I first got into puyo puyo but I for SURE instantly decided that yep Im steering my style in this direction sorryyyyyy!!! I just think its so fun and silly and cute and rahhh it makes me so happy.

Especially for the work I do most often, which is character portraits without backgrounds, I will often look at puyo puyo posing just to get ideas!! (I've drawn Arle's dumbfounded pose 100000000 times becus I love it so much). The puyo puyo anatomy has very noodly arms and legs but with big ass shoes and accessories which is probably my favorite design thing in the world....

I seriously recommend just looking through the Puyo Puyo Nexus wiki for pose ideas (if you want something cute/silly of course) because every single one is just perfect. I am trying to get out of some dumb art habits of my own right now, but hopefully in the future you'll be able to see more goofy poses with sillier effects :3

Muse Dash Again I want you to look at the COLORS. Its so bright and this time you can really tell where I took my shading style from. I dont want my shadows to be dark I want them to be PINK or PURPLE. thank you. For my own art, I really try to make it so the darkest "black" is actually a deep purple or blue, and as I keep making art that dark color keeps getting just a bit lighter haha...

This is also the reason I color my lineart the way I do. I just really want to add as many colors as possible into the image. And if the image looks a bit more pink after that then thats just an extra perk!!

I also need to bring up the animation because they're just so bouncy and alive!!! This is like an instant stunlock for me, I have to look at them, theyre so BOUNCYYY!!!!!! I don't do much animation but every other week I get the sudden urge to try tweening again just to eventually get to the point I can make something similar to these for my own ocs lol

Great Pretender This show has some of the most gorgeous art ive ever seen. All the backgrounds are so bright and colorful. I dont usually draw art with backgrounds anymore sadly, but when I used to I really tried to study these for them. And I hope in the future I can make more art and show how far I've come.

Though I;ve changed to a more chibi style in recent times (thanks puyo puyo), this was still one of the first times I had ever watched a show and said "Oh my god I love this artstyle I need to get better at art" and Its always in my mind for that reason.

Ive definitely stolen lots of elements from the style. Though they've gotten more subtle over the years. I dont really know how to describe it any further but I hope you understand what I mean by looking at these screenshots,,,

Heyy I'm that game concept anon! Wanted to say that it's been absolutely lovely to read about different systems' experiences!! Nice to see we're not alone lol. I'm usually pretty confident in what we have going on, and people around us (in college) somehow are... supportive, even tho they don't understand what I'm talking about like half the time, but that moment bent me out of shape a little. Glad to report that I'm now back into the proper confident shape yeehaw :)

Also in my first ask I somehow failed to mention this, but the whole deal with the "romantic connotations" was literally just my teacher making it up himself. Like as much as I wanted to show my relationship with my husband/co-host one for one, I wasn't originally going to make the game characters have a romantic relationship. Cuz platonic relationships are very important too! And overall the goal was to show how alters should have better in-sys communication and collective problem-solving, when possible (and NOT bully each other for 'stealing' each other's life, and NOT bully the persecutors for being mean without trying to figure out why they're mean and without trying to help them, and NOT bully other alters for acting like they do without learning their reasoning, like we did, unfortunately.) I guess husband's 'Protective husband' energy was just too intense for the teacher to handle lol. But NOW I do want to incorporate in-sys dating. We'll see how it goes, I guess.

Everything that you list are important things for systems to learn, though I find many systems struggle to learn them when they first discover their plurality. As we said to a friend once, with how strongly the idea of "one body = one self = one life" is cemented into everyday narratives, it's difficult to unpack that and accept that your body and life may not be only your own, thus making it difficult to accept your system and respect your headmates. Of course, this doesn't excuse rude or cruel behavior between system members, but it's a common reason we've found for conflicts that occur shortly after syscovery. So, I find the fact that you're not just acknowledging but showing these conflicts and the process of improving relationships (with the word "relationships" being used in a general sense here) between headmates in your game to be a very good thing!

Thank you very much for the follow-up – and for the concern, haha! We'll be alright, but I think we'll soon have to create a specific tag for all these asks about intrasystem relationships. Maybe "datenight musings" will work? Hm, we'll workshop it.

♡ you wanted to surprise him with this? don't worry, he's surprised already. he knew about your hobby and he knew how much you love painting, but he didn't expect to actually be your muse. though he kinda wanted you to paint him one day.. at first, he apologized for bothering you and was about to leave, but when he saw your painting.. he just stood there, shocked and in awe.

♡ he needs a moment to process what just happened, he can't believe that you would actually paint him. and you painted him so well too?? how can you be so talented? you see malleus standing in total silence and looking at your painting and you start worrying. what if he doesn't like it? oh no, maybe it really was a bad idea-

♡ you are so wrong. he tells you that he loves it and he thanks you for showing him your painting. he even feels like he looks better in your painting than in real life, haha. he asks if he can hang your painting in his room. he wants to look at it every day, this painting means so much to him.. you smile and let him do that, though you know that sebek will definitely tell you that "you haven't captured his master's beauty and elegance that well".

♡ he's also a bit surprised at first. he did ask you to paint him many times before, but you just smiled and said "maybe someday". well, looks like that day has finally come. and he is so happy!! you've finally painted him! and he looks so beautiful here! i mean, of course he does, he's always beautiful, but your painting shows it really well.

♡ even though he's happy, he still wants to mess with you a little bit. he looks at your painting, knowing well that it's him, but he still asks: "oh, this person looks familiar. would you mind telling me more about your muse? maybe i know them and we can show them your painting together." your reaction is understandable. "come on, lilia! you know that it's you, just tell me if you like my painting or not!"

♡ he laughs and apologizes. he tells you that he really does love it and he's so happy to be your muse. lilia also tells you exactly what he likes about your painting, he pays attention to such things as lighting, face expression, shading.. you did not expect to get such a detailed compliment from him. oh, that kiss on the cheek from him was also sudden. he really did like your painting, hehe..

♡ silver knew about your hobby and he always loved your paintings. they just have this peaceful atmosphere that makes him feel calm. but he never thought that you would actually paint him one day. like with malleus, it takes a bit of time for him to process what just happened.

♡ when he finally realizes that he was your muse for this painting, he doesn't know how to react. he absolutely loves your work, but he's just.. not sure about how he should express it. what should he say? he thinks just saying "thank you, i love it" isn't enough. a talented artist like you deserves more.

♡ you ask him what he thinks again, but you're a bit nervous this time. silver has been really quiet and you're not sure if he likes it.. he finally smiles and sincerely thanks you for painting him. he didn't expect to be your muse at all, so this was a very pleasant surprise. you're relieved to hear that. ♡ remember lilia's reaction to your painting? yeah, he knew well that he's your muse, he was just being his usual mischievous self, but sebek? this guy looks at your painting, asks you about your muse AND HE REALLY DOESN'T KNOW THAT IT'S HIM. you thought that it should be obvious, but it looks like you were wrong. "it's- it's you, sebek.." oh. OHHHHHH.

♡ sebek was about to say that you've done an amazing job as always, he really does love your paintings, but when he heard the truth about your muse.. his brain goes empty. he's so happy, he's this close to crying, BUT HE CAN'T SHOW IT. HE MUST STAY CALM ABOUT THIS. but he also wants you to know that he likes it!! what should he do??

haha more like what made me pick up this muse again kjhfsa. which is what always happens, a replay of p3p. i originally made minako's blog in 2014 after needing a change of pace from the rpc i was in at the time & then as always after time i got distracted n picked up new muses in other fandoms. i was on a heavy hiatus borderline retirement from tunglr rp in like 2022 but when atlus announced the remaster port to modern consoles for p3p i just idk everything flooded back & in high gear. persona 3 is a extremely precious game for me & i tend to replay it when im really low mentally, which i was at the time anyways. so i think that plus my very hard personal boundary with myself that i will not venture into new rpcs or very far from minako's blog( ie no new blogs, no new blogs. ) really pushed me to stay. i do have my pokemon oc still & i do have akira now but like these three blogs, sideblogs here are attached to this btw, are like it for me. so i'm super here to stay LOL outside of rp tho p3/p has been huge in my life, after all i have XXII which is minako's barrette & arcana number tattoo'd on my wrist. so she's always been with me so to speak regardless if i'm writing her or not kjhfsda

i have to have a background noise to function as a person, so yeah i have something on while i write. usually music but sometimes my computers second screen has a video up. usually that's how i watch a lot of tv or youtube. for music it's just whatever i want to listen to at the moment i don't tend to like require or use character playlists to write, it's all up to what my brainworms wanna hear at the moment.

situational. for the most part when i get to a reply i read through it, reread my reply, reread the reply to it & then go ok what's next & write from there. thinking about what my muse may do too much tends to like dull the line of thinking so i try not to plan out beyond when i'm working on them at the moment so i guess that is more winging it ? i do sometimes when i read a reply before i draft it know what my muse will do & plan it out a wee bit before i can get to the reply, but its not common.

yeeessssss & nooooo haHAH i'm a bit difficult when it comes to shipping. i've been uhhh lets say burned heavily in the past added with the fact that i'm grey-aromantic i tend to favor other forms of love vs romantic first & foremost. usually i have to have a good relationship with the mun before i'm open to shipping w/ them, which is why for years & years i would more often ship w/ my best friends here rather than like just off the cuff. not that ppl who do casually ship are bad, it's just not for me. i have to have chemistry between myself & the other writer to be able to create something just like any other plot & my muse well she may not be sentient but damn she gotta have some sort of want or lean to it too u kno LOL minako herself has proven to me to be extremely fickle about romance. that comes from being a shoujo-manga-esc protag based on love for humanity. she doesn't have a canonical love interest because she's player controlled & sure, at this point she's my oc which i'm totally writing her with that as the focus bc i feel like all protag ocs for games like this are basically ocs with a general preset provided by the games canon my personal world building is only really a guide & not hard coded for rp. there are characters she finds attractive that she interacts w/ quite often, but attraction does not equate to romantic feelings. she's dense when it comes to romance to her so she'd have to be confessed to completely outright because even when she catches feelings she bottles them up in some idiotic ' this is fine as it is ' mentality which means the other person tends to have to confess before she lets herself bridge that gap to start a romance or dabble it in. i do have my own ships for her, some crossfandom as well. they aren't like rpc related tho. i would explode like a sun a thousand times for these ships i love them.

Aphelios x Reader - "Dreaming of You" (Part 6)

“It’s more like I’ve read about it, Alune,” you took a deep breath and continued, “How much do you and Aphelios know about me?”

Alune gravitated towards you, closing the distance between the two of you. Her head tilted to the side and her hair soon followed. She soon answered your question. “Little Beam, Mother Moon sent you to us.”

“Well... I think Mother Moon meant that quite... Literally,” you took a deep breath, ready to explain everything and trying not to sound too crazy. “My guess would be that I’ve been somehow transmigrated or teleported to Ionia, honestly. From a faraway place, of course.”

Aphelios watched from the corner of his eye as the scene unfolded.

Alune closed the gap even more, seemingly excited as you revealed that tiny bit of information. She pressed her palms together and closed her eyes. “Mother Moon is amazing, isn’t she?”

Yeah, Alune wasn’t impressed with your information. Aphelios, however, looked straight at your form. No longer watching from the corner of his eye. He was waiting for you to continue.

“Yeah... Seems like she holds immense power.” You continued to walk, looking at your surroundings.

You were back on the original track, the night as vibrant as ever. Not much change could be seen, though. The mountains seemed endless, stretching across the vast field of vision presented before you. You focused on the feeling of the wind as you contemplated your next words.

“In my world... Runeterra is not real. It’s a story with multiple stories woven into it, deepening the world. So, I guess I’m knowledgeable about many things when it comes to Runeterra, although I can be clueless when it comes to some things.”

Okay, you lied about it being a part of a story, kind of... Since it’s originally from a game. But you doubted they knew what video games were and you were not ready to open that can of worms yet.

Alune mused, a quiet hum filling the air. Aphelios offered a raised eyebrow as he looked at you.

You just walked ahead, putting more strength into your steps.

“That’s interesting, Little Moonlight. Can you tell me more about the place where you come from?” Alune asked, enthusiasm in her voice as she flew in front of you, stopping you in your tracks.

“Sure... Where should I start?” You agreed to her request, ready to answer most questions that could be thrown your way.

You truthfully told her as much as you could about your own world. Information ranging from animals, to nature, to lack of magic and the language and different cultures. She seemed really hung up on the lack of magic, wondering how you could survive. Which led you down another rabbit hole, technology and other advancements humans made over the years.

Warm sunrays hit your skin as you made your way along the trail. You followed Aphelios obediently, depending on him to lead the way. With how effective today’s hike was, you were already halfway through the way to Weh’le. In turn, it meant that soon enough you would discover what Mother Moon has prepared for you.

As warm morning sun rays enveloped both you and Aphelios, you enjoyed the tranquility that took over your body. Alune eventually disappeared as she usually did around this time. There was only you and Aphelios at this point.

Since it was morning, it was time to find a safe space to rest. Not too far away from the main trail, not too sunny. You found a small butte some distance away, enough to cast a shadow over both of you.

As you placed your things on your right side, your legs could finally rest. Aphelios stood on your left.

He brought his right hand to his shoulder and massaged it, before leaning against the stone wall and sliding down, until he was finally sitting on the ground under his form. A sight left his lips as he relaxed.

“Hey, Aphelios.”

Aphelios looked in your direction, his head tilting to the side as he cranked his neck to look at you.

“Do you have any questions? About my world. Alune was quite curious, but if there’s anything you want to know, you can just ask.”

The man looked to the ground, thinking deeply before swinging his head from left to right, clearly signaling that he doesn’t have any questions. A hum leaves his mouth. He leans his head against the wall and closes his eyes, ready to rest.

Wow. Y'all. I truly never expected so many awesome responses on the post I wrote last night about Dieter, Goya and Pedro on Talk Art. It is the first 'fun' thing I've written in so many years - after having felt blocked/paralyzed re: creative pursuits since 2020 (shit happened) -, without stressing about how I wrote it, and it means the world to me that so many people liked it and shared it.

I don't want to clutter up all the feeds by individually sharing and responding to the reblogs etc, so I'm throwing it together in one post here - because I want y'all to know I appreciate it so much. And it honestly made me even more excited that some of my favorite PP fic authors did so, because I've been enjoying YOUR work so much!

@chaoticgeminate Sending those hugs right back, and your fic was absolutely not a silly little piece! I truly love(d) it, and I'm glad it sent me down this little rabbithole. And yes, while writing that piece I also became more convinced that Pedro himself was a really big part in shaping Dieter and his background story. It's so damn intelligent and very much his style.

One thing I didn't mention yesterday (and I'm sure this is something a lot of people already spotted since the first day that the movie was online) is that I also came to realize how much Pedro has based Dieter's outfits and some mannerisms on Jeff Bridges' character The Dude from 'The Big Lebowski'. Never really saw that movie but I put it on today for a bit, and it was striking -- I'd even dare to say that the "'Bola, hold my hair!" moment on the toilet is a nod to how The Dude (who has longer hair) gets his face shoved into a toilet. Also, at one point when Bridges' character is addressed with "Mr Lebowski", he dismisses that and tells the guy to call him Dude, or even 'Duder' which, yeah, that's just a small step from 'Dieter Bravo'.

amycben on Reddit said the same thing about Bridges, and shared these Dieter pics, which definitely made it clear how our Feral Raccoon Boy's style is inspired by 'The Dude' <3 I don't care much for the Lebowski movie, but I love a good reference, especially since it's a Coen brothers movie - and we all know that Pedro now has a small role in Ethan Coen's upcoming movie 'Driveaway Dolls'. Anyway, I honestly hope that at some point Pedro will be asked about the work he did in shaping Dieter, because I'd love to hear more about this. There's no chance in hell that'll happen, because which journalist would ask him this? But I'm cool though if the universe wants to manifest one of us getting to interview him some time in the future, haha.

Anyway, again @chaoticgeminate - thank YOU really. I needed that deep dive more than I knew thanks to your writing!

@imaswellkid I'm def not an Apatow person either, and I'll be honest - the first time I watched the Bubble I couldn't get past the first half, haha. But I later began to realize that you should indeed watch it through a critical lens and as a reflection about the craziness that was going on, rather than 'oh this is a movie about the pandemic'. The Mando bud is great btw! But even better is the Baby Yoda bud - I have no clue how growers/dispenseries (I'm in the midwest) get away with naming their product after Disney stuff, but I'm sure glad it got me to try that hahaha.

@chronically-ghosted God don't get me started, it's so tempting - next thing you know I'll have suckered myself into writing Dieter fic (while I'm only just getting started now on two other WIPs), haha. But yes I'm so curious about what the unspoken canon is there -- and most probably Pedro is the one with answers to that since it seems so much like he created Dee. I ended up googling some Apatow interviews this morning and saw that he set out to make the Bubble as a sort of Christopher Guest movie (the mockumentary style), and other articles said that there was a lot of improv involved - so obviously Pedro must've contributed a lot. Particularly because I've read at least interviews with four directors (Zeke who did Prospect, Craig Mazin from TLOU, I wanna say Patty Jenkins, and I'm currently blanking on the other name) who spoke about how involved Pedro was, down to specific dialogue and character's motivations etc in shaping the movie (I think Zeke said that Pedro worked with them to tone down Ezra's Shakespearian manner of speech a little, which I can totally see happening since Pedro has done/read so much Shakespeare and it's easy to picture that he wants to fine tune it so it's accessible enough for audiences). Ugh, it's probably gonna take a long while until there'll be any long form interviews with him again, and sadly interviewers are probably not gonna ask about any of this.

Re: painting or acting, yesterday I read @blueeyesatnight 's That's Not Your Name-Dieter fic (LOVED it, can def recommend it!) and one of the coolest things about Dee's character development there is that it indeed delves into 'okay how did he pick acting versus art' and more background story, plus how in the current day events of the story he is even making his own oil paint. That has become my headcanon now <3

@tessa-quayle I'm so glad you liked my post!! I really really wish that Russell and Robert would do another episode with Pedro. I love Russell in particular (sorta followed his work since Being Human was released, which holy crap was already 15 yrs ago?), but the way they attempted to interview Pedro back then was kind of a hot mess - and I say that lovingly hahaha. They were so enthusiastic that they talked over him so/too many times, so I'd love a tad calmer conversation where P has the opportunity to go more indepth.

@tvversionperson IKR there is SO much plot and character development to be explored with Dieter in that movie, which of course it doesn't have room to delve into but shit I wish they would/could. Or at least to just hear Pedro talk about what his thoughts are on it, because you know he most definitely had Dee's entire back story fleshed out in his head when he shot this movie.

"Hana ni arashi," the wanderer muttered with his hand slightly reaching for the sky, awaiting the inevitable raindrops.

His foretold half-jokes about rain materialized as he prophesied in the letter. Many had fled to find protection from the joy-ending rain, but he remained motionless beneath Ritou's tanabata tree. Earlier today, he was discreetly observing the festival's vendors and books as he wandered around with lordly nonchalance, making remarks about humanity's consistently obnoxious literature despite his irminsul shenanigans.

"So the protagonist still wanders as an object-apparition in the end?" Wanderer muttered as he clapped the book shut. "How dull."

Seems like no matter how much he tampered with the white tree, the dead will never come back to life.

He had little to examine now that all the stalls were protected by larger stores and private residences. The fact that the branches and his hat had failed to keep the drifter from getting wet didn't bother him. Instead, he observed the droplets smear the paper wishes that were hung on the tree.

'This year, I'm going to be a doctor.'

'Let's all solve world hunger!!! - Kav.'

'Here's to hoping I retire this year haha!'

'I'm going to graduate and live with my husband in Inazuma City.'

'I want to be loved.'

'I WANT TO BE LOVED.'

The wanderer scoffed.

Such a simple yet difficult wish.

"Loved in what way? Loved in reverence? Loved out of fear? Loved as a friend? Loved like how a mother would do so with her child?" He snatched the wish off the tree and squinted his eyes.

"Loved as though you're someone's missing half?"

He scoffed and crumpled the soggy paper.

"Mortals. They can't be trusted to hold even an iota of freedom and independence. Always with the need to be shackled by shallow relations."

The wanderer may muse that out loud, but his entire being defied his proclamations.

What a hypocrite he is, spouting nonsense about relationships when he's here to rekindle something forgotten...

"H-Hey, you there! What on earth are you standing in the middle of the rain for? This is no time for sightseeing."

The wanderer flinched and his face lit up.

Wanderer was glad to hear that voice again.

He turned around, and he found you. You firmly held a red umbrella above your head as you stood beside him. Confused by his awfully timed contemplations, you gently grabbed his arm.

Huh... Why didn't he feel anything when you touched him?

"We need to get you under a roof, pronto," you implored. "That hat of yours isn't doing you any favors."

The wanderer made an effort not to look at the parasol. You didn't seem to be aware that the object you were holding contained some peculiar energy. He didn't say a word about how the eye in your red umbrella moved, hoping to amuse himself later once you worked it out.

He might use it to frighten you later. Irodori festivals feature a ton of yokai events, so it wouldn't harm to have you scream.

"Oh wow, really? I didn't notice," he snarled. "'Preciate your concern, but I don't care."

"Please?"

"Please, what?" He closed his eyes, restraining himself from making eye contact with your cursed parasol.

That yokai you're holding does feel special...

"Come with me?" You frowned. "The others are worried about you."

"Why do locals always love to prattle on such meaningless concerns."

"Haha," you sheepishly scratched your neck. "You know, you kind of remind me of my pen pal."

Finally.

"If I remind you of a pen pal of yours, then you must have the mind of a worm."

"Hey—"

You stopped.

"... Oh... OH!!!"

He smirked.

"So it was y—"

"Believe what you want, worm."

"Oh, come on. The meaning behind that pen name was pretty neat, and I was—"

"Not the brightest student in the Haravatat," the wanderer sighed. "At least you don't have an execrable lack of imagination, I'll acknowledge that much. If I handed that letter to Madam Faruzan, I imagine she would be distraught."

"You don't know that."

No, he does. But he also knows that Madam Faruzan praised the worm for their literacy on forgotten languages.

Vermiculus, meaning little larva or worm, and creatio, which doesn't take a genius to figure out it pertains to "creation."

"Do you even know who Madam Faruzan is?"

"Only whispers. As much as I want to write to her, I admit, I've never exchanged letters before you, so..."

So you don't know who she is after the revision?

Good.

One less person to get in his way.

"A-Anyways, we ought to take shelter from the rain! Come on, already."

With enough strength, you successfully sprint him out of the tanabata tree's shade. You were more focused on getting him out that the thought of checking for his pulse never occurred to you.

You used to be sharper than that.

"Does a little rain make you upset? And here I thought worms like the rain for their moisture."

"S-Seriously?" You heaved, breathless. "Y-You're making jokes? And h-how are you not out of breath?"

Wanderer stayed quiet after that remark, emulating human breathing.

You used to be acquainted with traveling, what happened to your stamina?

Wanderer's revision does not change the past entirely. It only erases this world's memory of him.

It does not make the dead come back to life.

"Stop."

"Hah?"

He seized the opportunity to check your pulse.

...

The wanderer tried not to look at y̶o̶u̶r̶ the parasol.

"(Y/n)."

"... Wait, how do you know my name?"

"I'm not talking to you," he gritted his teeth. "I'm talking to the kasa-obake."

He took the umbrella away from y̶o̶u̶r̶ the person's hand, his grip softening when he secured it.

"(Y/n)..."

The moving eye looked frightened.

"Have you heard about this story, Scara? In Inazuma, there was a woman who bought an umbrella from a shrine. One rainy day, she thought about using her umbrella, but then suddenly, she received a message informing her that her husband died in battle. She got sick and died in a few days to supposedly look for her lover in the afterlife. After that, people said the umbrella was cursed and the shrine maidens sealed it away."

"... Is that supposed to be an attempt at being scary?"

"Not really? I don't know. On nights like this, traveling with you can be deadly silent. I only wished to make it a bit more lively" you shrugged. "But you know, I think I get why I remembered that tale out of the blue."

"Sure, worm. Tell me about it when I'm not falling asleep."

"You don't need sleep, you're a puppet. Anyways, I think I shared that story 'cause I subconsciously realized I'm getting attached to you."

"What does that have to do with some umbrella yokai story?"

"I'm just saying that if you went through Dottore's plans and came out as a different person, I think I'd fall ill too."

"And die? And have your beloved worms claim your body?"

"Hmm, I suppose so, yes," you affirmed his disbelief casually. "Vermiculis Creatio. If I die, let them feast and claim my vessel as their own. My soul doesn't need my old body. Maybe you should make me a puppet like you, see what happens."

"Is that a promise?"

"If it'll make you less lonely and feel loved as a new Archon? Then yes,

it's a promise."

The wanderer grabbed the body's arm again.

"What are you doing? That hurt."

He dug his thumb deep within y̶o̶u̶r̶ the body's wrist.

Small insects.

Larva.

Worms.

The entire time, he was not speaking to (Y/n) (L/n).

He was speaking to their animated corpse.

Scaramouche grinned.

Perfect.

"W-Worms...?!"

"I'll be stealing this umbrella from you."

"Hold on- what?! Hold on, how did you tear through my skin like that, why are there worms inside my—"

"I'm not giving it back, so run away now."

"But—"

"This umbrella means a lot more to me than you. This umbrella has more life than you do."

He pushed them aside.

"So why don't you bury yourself and claim their rotting body like the good little worm that you are?"

Scaramouche caressed the cursed parasol. His eyes were wide, unhinged, but there was no breathing heard amidst the strong rain. As the corpse ran afraid, he tenderly hugged the umbrella and whispered as though it had ears to listen to his madness.

He laughed manically, softly kissing its closed eye.

His true missing half is finally here, encircled by his arms.

"Don't worry, my (Y/n). I'll make you a worthy vessel that will never be defiled by worldly filth."

Since becoming a partial/full-time mute with my diagnosis, I keep thinking maybe I'll gain better habits about interjecting literally anything that comes to my mind during casual conversation. But nahhhh I'm pretty sure it's making me worse. I can feel myself vibrate with tangible thoughts as my siblings are musing about shit. I'll type it in my speech reading app but it takes too long. And then I have to type preemptively knowing I'm gonna lose the context of my comment. Positively maddening.

It's hard for me to express my support or feel like an attentive and positive friend. I've already had to clarify to a friend of mine that I'm not harboring any hostile feelings. I'm pretty good at communicating that usually. My ASL lessons have paused a little as I prioritize just isolating myself instead of the temptation of just being with people. I have to mentally prepare before social situations cause I have to condition myself to be cognizant of my choices. It's not good to isolate, but like, it's probably where I am most comfortable right now.

My recovery timeframe has extended significantly since my recent check up. I hit the 2 month mark on Monday and I will have a follow up with the same prescription of tasks in another 2 months. If surgery is brought up, I have zero clue how I'm going to begin the next teaching year under the restrictions of surgery recovery which is remarkably more unforgiving than what I'm doing now. I'm only grateful that I'm hitting the summer break soon. I hate that I'm not working, but I'm actually opening up painting commissions to help my situation out. My greatest worry is that this won't be enough.

Some pros right now is that I'm losing weight with all this rest and strict diet, though it's occurred to me I've got some nutrients deficiencies since I was exhausted shopping at a super market with my mom. Haa. The free time away from work, though ending very soon, has been the biggest weight off my shoulders and it has me rethinking how I commit myself to things.

Emotionally I've been struggling with the lack of singing. I was told not to listen to music that much to help with this but I can't really follow that. I just want to sing. And sing loud. And sing joyfully. And sing with my friends and strangers alike. It makes me so happy to just use my voice frequently and casually. I visited the church I work at for the first time in many weeks and it was pleasant to see people and they missed me, but sitting in the congregation with the damn hymnal unable to sing just rubbed salt in the wounds. I don't think I'll be going again at least for a few weeks.

This is probably where I'm most honest about this journey as I have so many faces to upkeep on Facebook. I can't imagine telling all my acquaintances the bad news that this effort is not paying off as much. What started as a silly musing about being a little adhd chatterbox turned into an entire update haha. I got this...

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I've had some interjections of other languages (mostly Spanish, since I have some very very basic understanding there), but otherwise I don't think I could get the words to flow right if it wasn't primarily in my native language.

BEST EXPERIENCE : So, so many. Aside from meeting so many awesome people, there's been the great RP! Like imprisoning Silver and then John, and the RP leading to those moments (Imagine thinking you can arrest Jax-muse :)). And hurting John. And Silver. ... I'm gonna back away rn I must sound insane lmao.

RP PET PEEVES / DEALBREAKERS : God-emoting and pressure. I've said it before but I HAVE been through it. Someone on here decided Jax 'had to die' because their muse would kill him. Even when asking if we could come to another conclusion so I don't lose all my hard work and inevitably my best muse, they said no. Then they vagued me on the dash with some BS about me trying to use their muse and bend it to what I wanted, and well... That's not how RP should work, bro. It's a collaborative experience where we work things out and come to a conclusion we can both enjoy. I ain't killing off my muse. So if anybody does that to me, they're perma-blocked. Again. And yea, pressure in that sense and any other sense. Don't pressure me into anything and it's ok. (I've been pressured into some... Awkward RP and now it haunts me) so I've now learned to put my foot down.

PLOTS OR MEMES : I've yet to properly plot, ever lmao. I just go with the flow. So either works for me.
