Male friendships

honestly people naver talk about how euphoric it feels to be a trans mn and have male friends. like dont get me wrong i love my female and non-binary friends, but just having male friends that you can just have a classic “bro” friendship.

i know that someone will think like “ohhhh, thats so sexist” or something like that but honestly its just sucha freeing feeling to have the same kinda relationships that cis guys have.

its not even like having friendships with cis guys, just hanging out with my boys really is such a euphoric feeling.

I’m always scared to let somebody in when the person is of the opposite gender. I’m a 21 year old college student, female, and work as a part timer. I don’t think I’m traumatized but I might have a kind of trust issues or something when I interact with a man since when I was 18- at that time I had a make friend who shares the same music taste and I though of him as a good friend of mine but it turned out to be wrong…he liked me and started to flirt with me in an inappropriate way which made me very uncomfortable so that i told him to stop contacting me ever again. (Well it may sound too harsh but I didn’t feel safe because he was twice my age and I was only 18. And I realize that it was only me who thought we were “friends”)

So, with that being given, after all those years I made friends with a boy who works at the same place as I do, and he seems nice and he like the same music as I do. I’m glad that I get a new friend, but as the same time I’m nervous and worried that he may be the same- doesn’t want a friendship but more than it when all I want is just a friendship. And I’m so sick of my idea- it’s not like all guys like me and I know that. But I just can’t feel unsafe and I always end up distancing from male friends. Maybe it is a deja vu? I don’t know.

He (a new male friend of mine) texts me a lot, and he asked me to go to a gig, too. Well, if he only sees me as a friend, it’s super nice because I always wanted a friend who likes the music I like! But I have no ways of confirming and I feel so confused…it’s only clear that I want to be a friend of him but not anything other than that and hope he feels that same way. And I hate myself and feel so sorry for him that I can’t trust him…because it is simply possible that he only sees me as a friend and I’m overthinking.

I think I have lots of issues and I’m screwed up for thinking that way. I’m just so clueless. Please help me.

It can be quite confusing at times with guys and them wanting a different thing to ourselves, for example us just wanting to be friends but them wanting something more. I just want to quickly mention firstly though that I am so proud of you for ending things with the first guy when he began flirting with you, making you feel really uncomfortable and especially when you just wanted to be friends with him and nothing more! It can be so hard to do this though so feel proud because this can be one of the hardest of things to do in life – ending a friendship before they become something more, something we do not want!

In terms of not being trusting of guys now, in fear they all want something more than just wanting to be friends, I just want to let you know that it is possible to have just a guy friend with there not being anything romantic about it, sometimes we just need to be clear on what we are wanting and needing from the other person like with what you are doing. Of course though, lines can be blurred, boundaries crossed, but as long as you are quite clear with your intentions and are quick to respond to any uncomfortable behaviour or behaviour that you don’t want then things can work out well.

You mentioned that there is no way of confirming with this newest friend who you are going to a gig with that you just want to be friends. Seeing as though he texts you lots, perhaps you could text him the day following the gig saying something like “I really enjoyed going to the gig with you and I’d really like to just be your friend’.

By being upfront with him then at least you will know that you have been honest about just wanting to be friends and if he by chance is wanting something more then he can easily let you know in a text and you two can work things out from there and where to go.

I imagine creep yandere to be attractive, he’s just a pathetic guy that brings dead animals because he has no sense of what’s romantic, what do you mean a dead bird isn’t cute?

People that have no clue of his reputation are quick to hit on him, and then as soon as he starts talking about taking picture of skulls in forests and looking for dead animals to preserve, they immediately want to get up and stutter out a lame excuse to escape.

At least you don’t ignore him? Sure you treat him with disgust but it’s not enough to deter him, he’s just a pretty boy who’s just a little too dense to get that you don’t like it when he brings dead critters to your door.

When you finally knock it in his head, he’s a little defeated yes, but he gets it, and now he’s collecting flowers and gorgeous shells that he thinks you’d like.

Sure he has to change his gift habits but at least this means you let him into your house.

You’re actually talking to him too!

“So, did you make this yourself?” You say surprised, shifting the flower crown with three of your fingers to look at it from all sides.

“Um.. yes” The suspicious amount of hesitation in his meek voice is eyebrow raising but you don’t ask about it.

He actually just paid a kid to make it because he has no grasp on arts and crafts if it doesn’t involve dead things.

everyone always talks about ‘medic reader’ this and ‘teammate reader’ that but what abt weapons engineer/mechanic reader ?

just a silly little fella who helps out the 141 with their weapons when they go out of whack, who works very closely with the team to coordinate certain weapons for specific missions .

they’d probably have a really close bond with soap , both having fun with testing demolitions together . who’s able to add in ideas and carry conversations with you when you ramble on about weapons . johnny pulls you close to him when they get startled from the loud noise of an explosion , laughing a little at how they excuse their sudden vulnerability with ‘not expecting it to be that loud’.

price who seeks them out when he’s having issues with his cm901, having to endure your age-long lectures about not accidentally slamming the barrel to hard. he subconsciously makes sure the brush his hand over yours when he finally retrieves his now-fixed weapon.

Actually I think we should talk about how incredibly fucked up it is for sapphic women to say shit like "I'm no better than a straight man 😔" when attracted to a woman in a way that isn't 100% pure and wholesome, or act like men's attraction to women is inherently dirty, predatory, or objectifying.
