AU where Grandma Shimura is a thing, but Gran is Inko's father. Inko was conceived in a drunken one night stand shortly after Nana gave up Kotaro. (Can also be DFO if you'd like)
Halfway through coming up with this and I realized I may have misunderstood what you meant but oh well
1- Nana, after realizing her husband is in fact the dastardly AfO, pretends he died and then hides Kotaro away to keep him safe, then ya know has a little platonic sex with her bestie bc Prime Torino isn't bad to look at and also she refuses to let AfO be the last person she slept with when she dies. Unfortunately this happened while she was rather drunk so other precautions weren't taken but anyway, a healthy baby girl is born and then sent to another family to name and raise. Nana and Gran hold each other and cry, and then never speak of this again.
2- Inko's quirk is functionally similar to her canon one, but mechanically different. She has little holes in her hands that suck air in, rather than on her feet that blow air out. The suction is powerful enough to attract small, nearby objects, but not much more than that. Also she's born with green hair but goes white in her teens, and starts dying it to cover it up because she's embarrassed and has no idea that the same happened to her biological father.
3- when Izuku interns with Gran, he actually comments that Jet is a similar quirk to his mother's, but with reversed mechanics and on the feet instead of hands, and almost beats him because he knows the weakness his mother has and how to use them against Gran. Gran, who is well aware that his baby girl had holes in her hand and green hair at birth, Just Doesn't Say Anything And Really Tries Not To Think About It.
4- That lasts as long as the Stain fight, and in the hospital after while on the phone, he asks Toshinori if he ever met Midoriya's mother. Toshi admits he hasn't, and Gran doesn't answer when he asks why he asked. Sorahiko decides to keep avoiding the topic like he and Nana agreed.
5- until Kamino, and the reveal that Kotaro's little boy has been abused and manipulated into a villain. Gran tells Toshi not to think about Tomura like that, because they can't undo it- but he does worry about Nana's other child. He can prevent it from happening again, maybe. He arranges to come along to the meeting Toshinori has with Inko, and brings a couple of old photographs for the reveal.

All Might’s Mental Health is  Declining
Toshinori Yagi wanted to be a hero, wanted to help people ever since he was a boy
Tumblr media
and with Nana’s help, the quirkless kid got his wish.
Tumblr media
But being a hero isn’t for the weak of heart. You’re going to fail. People are going to be hurt. And ultimately, you’ll be alone. Toshinori had to learn this quickly in his life as Nana, his mother figure, died for him at an early age.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The other person in his life, Gran Torino, trained him to the best of his abilities, but was a no nonsense, brutal teacher.
Tumblr media
His methods were effective, but scarring, as Toshinori has been terrified of him ever sense.
Tumblr media
He was sent to America on his own to develop his quirk, where he eventually learned to become a hero. But again, that meant work was his life, and he had no social life. Sure he was popular with the media, but as far as developing a lot of personal relationships, he wouldn’t have time for them. Plus, as typical of a hero, in order to keep everyone safe, All Might couldn’t be seen with people he was close to. He most likely kept himself busy the majority of the time to keep from being lost in his own thoughts. People need companions, it’s part of our make up. Toshinori’s surely had to have been a very lonely life.
And then All for One happened. And defeating him almost killed Toshinori, in fact, there’s no good reason he’s still alive, other than to pass on One For All, he should be dead. *Warning graphic details following*
Tumblr media
All for One said himself (English Translation), “A wounded hero is a most frightening animal. Do you know that even now, I sometimes dream of you charging at me with your entrails strewn across the ground.” His entrails. His internal organs. All Might was gravely wounded, yet he still forced himself to fight All For One, even while the hole in his side freely leaked his own body’s contents. In the picture above, All Might kneels above All For One’s lifeless body in a pool of blood, a mixture of both their blood. AFO’s head crushed.
I cannot stress enough the mental impact of this singular event. All Might stood for absolutely NO killing. He would resolve conflict while being careful NOT to kill or even critically hurt anyone. But in this instance, Toshinori killed a man. And the way he did, crushing a man’s head with his bare hands until the skull gave way and his brains were scattered on the pavement below. For someone who believes in no killing, this was a brutal execution. One that, unfortunately, had to happen for the safety of the world, and only All Might was capable of doing it.
Tumblr media
This alone must have severely messed with his head. While he lay in hospital, only capable of healing, AFO haunted his dreams and thoughts. He took another life, blood permanently staining his hands. And now he has to mentally pretend this never happened and act as if everything is fine to the public who hadn’t heard of this fight.
Despite the mental trauma from this, the physical trauma was worse. While he could fake the emotional lasting effects, he couldn’t hide the physical.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This injury took a lot more of him than just his mental stability. It took his stomach, a lung, most likely his spleen, and perhaps more internal organs. Living like this now means lots of medications. Supplements to make up for the lack of stomach, drugs to protect against infection, and pain medication to list a few. Something that big has to hurt like crazy. And all that scar tissue pulling while you try to fight? Torture. He’s most likely had countless corrective surgeries from the scar tissue alone, which only reopens the wound and leaves less and less skin to work with. You can see how caved in the scar is, indicating just how much of his body is missing. His destroyed respiratory system forces blood to fill the remaining lung he has left when he overexerts himself, which is all the time. He probably has to have blood tranfusions regularly to make up for the loss, as well as other injections to assist his body in running properly. There’s probably an oxygen tank by his bedside to help when he’s choking on his own blood in the middle of the night. His body wasting away until his very skin stretches like plastic wrap over nothing but bones. Muscles being eaten away in replacement of food.
But what sucks the most? The time he can be All Might is decreasing more every day. The one thing he’s wanted his whole life, to help people, is starting to become difficult to do. He has to hide his true form from the public, he doesn’t want them to fear for their lives if he can’t help anymore. Now he spends more and more time in his own mind because he can’t distract himself anymore. And what’s worse than the mental pain is the physical accompanying it.
Now BESIDES all this happening, we also have Nighteye’s betrayal. Sir, the man who was his sidekick for years, the guy he’s probably been able to grow the closest to, betrays All Might’s trust and looks into his future. And what does he see?
Tumblr media
In six to seven years, Toshinori will meet a villain, and meet a gruesome demise. The betrayal makes him and Nighteye go separate ways, losing a friend.
Now with his declining health and the death sentence hanging over his head, Toshinori has to think about what he hoped he wouldn’t for years yet. He needs a successor. Someone to give this power to before it’s too late.
Insert Izuku.
Tumblr media
A young, quirkless boy who just wants to help people. Sounds familiar. Izuku is an obvious choice despite everyone telling Toshinori he’s not the right fit. (Like Nighteye whom Toshinori tried to tell, but was only shot down.) So once he hands over One for All to Izuku, the problem, despite the boy destroying himself as he tries to use it and Toshinori being unsure how to help him, is that his power is decreasing even faster now. Which, of course, is to be expected, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to deal with. His time limit is drawn shorter and shorter until All for One starts to make a reappearance.
So not only did Toshinori not kill him, all the trauma he went through was for nothing, but now the world is in danger, again. And he doesn’t know if he can help them. Which means he has to involve his young ward in this mess that killed his mentor, almost killed him, and could potentially kill the boy as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So he tells Izuku of the origin of One for All and All for One. But he doesn’t tell the boy that by the time Izuku fights this guy, Toshinori won’t be around anymore.
Tumblr media
He doesn’t let on how much the power is draining out of his body, and doesn’t enlighten the boy on his own upcoming death. Which unfortunately means he has to lie and give Izuku a false sense of security.
And then, All for One shows up.
Tumblr media
And this time, All Might’s true form is exposed to the public. His weakness. Now the world knows that All Might isn’t invincible. Despite this, he’s still able to force his broken and exhausted body to beat All for One again, while using up the last of One for All, and leaving it up to Izuku.
Tumblr media
Now he’s that quirkless boy who wants to help people again, only this time, he can’t.
Tumblr media
Now he can’t be a hero, the one thing that’s kept him going all these years. And people on the street who don’t recognize him right away, criticize how he looks, which again, is out of his control. So he continues to hide himself in shame.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gran Torino has told him he’s not being a proper mentor to Izuku, but the boy is already surpassing him with his schooling from other teachers. So, without heroing and mentoring, all Toshinori has left is being a teacher.
Tumblr media
And unfortunately, Eraserhead has told him he’s also mediocre at that as well.
Then Izuku meets Sir Nighteye, and questions Toshinori about their relationship, while also questioning his own successor-ship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which leads to a very emotional scene of Toshinori telling Izuku exactly what happened all those years ago, as well as his death sentence that, oh by the way, is coming either this year or the next.
Tumblr media
Toshinori is fairly emotionless while explaining this to the boy, I imagine he’s fairly disconnected with his own emotions by this point.
Tumblr media
But seeing how upset Izuku was is enough to make him try and console the other that he won’t simply roll over and die, that he’ll go down fighting.
Tumblr media
And THEN, he gets word that Sir Nighteye is in grave condition and most likely won’t make it through the night. Even after their falling out, Toshinori goes to his friend’s side, and the resemblance is scary.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now he can see why Nighteye looked into his future, to see if Toshi had any chance on living. Being put in this position, he can understand. You can even hear Toshinori’s voice break (Japanese version) when he tells Sir that he needs to stay alive to allow Toshi to repent for his sins. But Nighteye can’t stay. And when facing the man who’s always been known for his smile, who can’t do it anymore, Sir says to him: “Smile. Live on, Toshinori.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But for what?
The most recent episodes have a relatively emotionless Toshinori.
Tumblr media
Like in today’s episode, the best he can give Izuku is a small smile, barely anything. He doesn’t even emote when he catches Hatsume’s stray baby.
Tumblr media
He clearly still has the reflexes of a hero, but he can’t physically be one anymore. His health is too fragile. *Manga spoilers ahead*
Then there’s this scene with Aizawa.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He had long since accepted his own death, maybe even longed for it. But Izuku made him decide to try and live, even though he’s not sure how to anymore.
This poor man has been through Hell. And now he feels useless and helpless. Thank God he finally said something to Aizawa, but he needs more than just this, he needs to have a purpose again. I hope Aizawa and the others can help him find it again.

Regressor!Yagi Headcanons
(with cg!Inko)
Tumblr media
Self-sacrificing in every way, as the Symbol of Peace, he put off his regression for years. It wasn't healthy nor was it ideal, but he believed that he had to. So once he officially steps down Toshinori starts out with a pretty wide age range when he firsts starts regressing, anywhere from babyspace to twelve. This is mostly because of two factors. One: he doesn't want to slip at all. He doesn't have a cg, and it's a slippery and scary slope when you're all alone. And two: he has no idea what he's doing because he's been neglecting that part of himself for so long.
Despite this, he wasn't exactly seeking out a cg. It's not something he can so easily do, especially once his identity—his true form, rather—goes public. Trusting someone enough to be your cg is a big deal for anyone, but add the fact that they could expose that side of you to the media for cash? Makes it a bit more difficult to trust someone else with something that already requires a whole lot of trust. Plus, there's his underlying self-worth issues; why should someone take care of him when he can no longer take care of the world? Then he meets Inko, and suddenly understands where Izuku's heart came from.
The first time they meet is almost bad. Not only did he have to apologize on behalf of the school and explain the dorm situation, but afterwards once things calm down Toshinori finds himself feeling almost too relaxed. Inko reminds him so much of Nana that it has his stomach doing flips with the overwhelming sense of deja vu. Not just her appearance, but moreso in the way she carries herself—in how much she genuinely cares. He finds himself nearly slipping on the spot, but manages to swallow it down like he always does. They keep in touch after that, just to keep her up to date on Izuku at first, but they quickly find out they got along rather well.
After carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders since his teens, he finally cracks. It was bound to happen, but he hates that it had to happen while he was over having tea with her. And all over him losing his grip on his cup during a coughing fit, causing both the cup and his hold on his big headspace to shatter. Toshinori knows he should help clean it up, apologize, something, but all he manages to do is cry. For her part, Inko doesn't even worry about the cup and instead is by his side in seconds as her mom instincts kick in. She knows what the cry of a child sounds like all too well to not know what's going on.
Inko pulls him into a tight hug and doesn't let go until his crying dies down to sniffles. Once they do, she sets about dabbing away the blood from the corners of his mouth. She's all soothing, calming words and caring touches as she checks him over. "It's okay now, sweetie. It was only a cup. I've got you. It was awfully loud, wasn't it? Did that scare you?" And though it borders on rambling, she's clearly going over some sort of mental mom checklist. Toshinori can't respond though, suddenly the tiniest he's ever been under her affection and care. All he can do is nod and whimper—it was scary, but what was more scary was his coughing. The nod is all it takes for Inko to pull him in for another hug.
Needless to say, once he came back up a couple of hours later, Toshinori quickly apologized and excused himself. He might have even avoided her for a little while after that, fearing that she no longer would want anything to do with him, but Inko is stubborn. She makes sure that they talk about what happened, and she makes it a point to explain how it was perfectly alright as far as she's concerned. One thing leads to another during their conversation, and by the end of it she's offering to be his cg. And to his own surprise he doesn't even hesitate, despite feeling like he doesn't deserve such kindess.
From there, Inko arranges evenings for him to come over and regress. Together they figure out that Toshinori's actual regression age settles pretty solidly at about a year. They find out a lot of other things about little Toshi too. Like how he giggles at her airplane noises but won't open up for the train ones, or how his favorite animals are giraffes, or that nothing settles him down when he's fussy on a bad pain day better than a warm bath followed by oversized sweaters and snuggles. Things are so much easier when he's with Inko, and Toshinori can't seem to remember to worry about anything related to being the Symbol of Peace while he's with her.

okay so i have some mad BNHA headcanons, featuring DadMight and KamiDeku. it’s a little long and conspiracy-theory-like, sorry.
1. what if Inko is somehow related to Nana? like maybe Nana’s child had multiple children. two of which i headcanon to be Aizawa and Inko. so let’s say that Inko and Aizawa are siblings and each fell out with their family because of their views on superheroes/society/just in general and Aizawa left and applied to UA and Inko left a few years later when she was more financially stable.
2. Inko meets her husband Hisashi Midoriya some years later and they hit it off immediately and eventually get married. Inko gets pregnant. Hisashi works abroad.
3. i lowkey headcanon Hisashi as a villain because he “works abroad.” that’s hella vague and if i were a villain i’d try to do my villainy in a country where i’m not recognized or thought of as anything but a sad business man or smth. so yeah he’s a villain. Inko suspects a little bit but not enough to confront him...
4. so mama Inko is pregnant BUT there’s a chance it might not be Hisashi’s child o.0 i know right. so anyway yeah she hit it off with a kind blond man named Toshinori and she knows it’s wrong because she’s married but she never tells him and she thinks something might be up with Hisashi and this helps her calm down. she just says Hisashi is the father tho,,,...
5. Toshi is the father and that’s why Izu is quirkless. Toshi never finds out about Izuku possibly being his child. he reconnects with Inko when she starts training Izu, not connecting them because he knew Inko as Inko and he knows izu as Izuku Midoriya so he never thought to make the connection.
6. one day he’s chatting with Inko on a coffee date and she gets a phone call from her son (her son?! when did he have a son? how old is he? etc. etc.) and she’s like “Izuku? is everything okay?” and he chokes on his coffee because his protegee is the child of his ex,,,, and the dates kinda line up.....
7. Toshi’s like “oh, you have a son?” and she’s like “yeah his name is Izuku and i love him so so so much he’s 15 years old...” he chokes on his coffee again because holy shit is this kid his and so he asks who the father is and she starts blushing and says honestly that she doesn’t know if it’s her husband or Toshinori.
8. he’s freaking the fuck out again because holy fuck he might have a son and he suggests Izuku gets a blood test and Inko thinks he should too so they tell Izuku and now Izuku is panicking because omg All Might might be his actual dad..
9. Izuku gets the blood test and yes he IS Toshinori’s son and and Toshi looks over the blood test and finds out that Izuku is the great-grandson of Nana on his mom’s side. so suddenly Toshi is crying and Izu and Inko are panicking and so he tells Inko how he’s All Might (she almost faints because ofc the man she had an affair with and is the father of her child happens to be mfing ALL MIGHT) and he tells them both about OFA and his mentor Nana and they’re now all crying and hugging and Inko finds out that Toshi is training Izu and she says “don’t overwork him... he is your son, after all” and they all chuckle and cry even more
10. skip a few months. it’s school time and UA is starting and Izu never broke any bones because he had a closer connection to Nana through OFA and he gets the hang of it pretty quick and is jumping around like a bunny because he thinks that punches are his dad’s thing and Izu needds his own thing. his hero costume looks the same because it makes him look like a green rabbit lmao
11. at the sports festival, he gets 1st place both times because he can go super fast and he’s really precise and everything. cur to the Todoroki Talktm and he asks if Izu is All Might’s secret love shild and Izuku starts sweating and just says “that’s kinda,,, confidential information. I don’t think i can tell you anything without having you sing at least 3 documents..” and Todo’s eyes go wide because holy shit he was right and Izuku thinks Todo is either really smart or really weird.
12. Inko suddenly realizes HOLY SHIT I’M STILL MARRIED and she calls Hisashi up and says “hey, can we get a divorce? apparently Izu isn’t your son and i’m in love with the fatehr but we’re still married...” and he seemed almost happy to divorce her and Inkko thinks it’s because he can stop paying child support but he could actually be a villain... she’ll look into it later.
13. skip a few months, Aizawa and All Might come to Inko’s apartment to talk about getting the dorms set up and All Might walks in like “hey, sweetie” and kisses her on the cheek and everything and Aizawa looks appalled because All Might if you’re in a relationship the principal needs to know and why are you dating mrs. midoriya and she politely says “oh just call me Inko, i got divorced a few months ago” and aizawa is like “... Inko? is that you??” and she’s like “Shouta??!!” and surprisingly they both start crying because they’re siblings
14. so Aizawa and Inko are siblings and the grandchildren of Nana, Toshi’s mentor, and the next holder of OFA is Toshi’s son and the great-grandchild of Nana... it’s a big fucking mess.
15. they do end up talking about the dorms and such and since Inko knows that Izu’s father and uncle are there, she trusts them. Aizawa is like, “you know the families of UA teachers are allowed to live in the dorms” and Inko is like sign me the fuck up and so now she’s living with Toshi near her brother and son
16. Toshi proposes!!! he proposes at the beach and it’s all romantic and afterwards Izu and Shouta and Shouta’s boyfriend Yamada all jump out and everyoen’s crying and it’s all adorable.
17. in class, All Might lets it slip that him and Shouta are gonna be in-laws and everyone starts panicking and flipping out except for Todoroki who just rambles like a consporacy theorist and Izu who’s sweating gallons. they ask to meet her and All Might says that’s possible since she lives in the UA dorms with him.
18.Inko grees to come to the next training and Bakugou is like “ha shitty deku what’s your mom doing here” and All Might is like “meet my fiancee” and Bakugou is like “AUNTIE!??! I THOUGHT HISASHI WAS DEKU’S DAD” and Inko starts blushing because he isn’t. she whispers “he was never the father” and Bakugou flips his shit because the boy he bullied for 10 years was the goddamn son of All Might.
19. so everyone knows that Izuku is the son of All Might and when his friends ask more about it he mentions that his great-grandma was a pro hero. suddenly Kaminari says “hey didn’t All Might say that your mom was related to Aizawa?” and Izuku blushes and says that apparently Shouta is his uncle and he didn’t find out until they were telling the students’ families about the dorms and Shouta reunited with Inko. Kaminari also points out that this means Inko’s maiden name is Aizawa and Bakugou says that since he’s no longer a Midoriya because of the divorce, he could go by Aizawa Izuku. Izu tells his mom they need to change their names and she agrees.
20. Izuku shows up to school on monday with the name Aizawa Izuku on the roster and Aizawa read it and says “problem child, don’t tell me your dad told everyone about the engagement” and Izuku blushes and says that it slipped and Aizawa bangs his head on the table and says “Izuku, you get to tell my husband why i have a concussion” and everyone freaks out AGAIN because Aizawa is married?? and Izuku KNEW???!!
21. Izuku doesn’t let anything slip but when it’s time for English he tells Mic “Uncle Shouta said that if he has a concussion it’s my fault” and everyone in the class goes dead quiet and from his desk Aizawa says “i didn’t mean in front of the whole clas yu troublesome little shit, i’m telling your mom you outed me” and Izuku dies immediately out of laughter and then fear
22. he begs his uncles not to tell his mom but Aizawa puts the call on speaker and Inko’s like “Shouta, what’s up? i’m about to finish my break” and he says “your son outed mine and Mic’s relationship, expose a secret of his” and she talks about how Izuku has a crush. Izuku blushes and the class starts teasing him and Inko says “I probably shouldn’t say because the whole class is listening, but the Aizawa house always believed in ‘an eye for an eye’” and the class shuts up and Inko says “yeah he said his crush’s quirk has something to do with electricity” and you can hear a pin drop and Izuku runs out of the class to the bathroom but he really just escapes to the dorms, and once the realization hits Kaminari he fucking bolts out of the class calling out to him.
23. Inko is still on the line and she says “oh my, i didn’t know they were in the same class” and she’s sorry and she’ll have to apologize to Izuku later. class proceeds as normal except without Izu and Kaminari. they’re both back at lunch though and they’re blushing and holding hands.
24. yes they’re dating. they’re blushing because they were making out once they talked through everything. yes Inko and Yagi know. the Aizawa family also seems to have a thing for adorable blonds...,,..,.,.
25. they all live happily ever after because i’m out of ideas but yeah.,.,. that’s my take

Heyy! InvitingNonsenseWorld from AO3 here! I didn’t want to cluster your comments section by replying to your reply, so here I am lol It’s just, I actually got invested in your AU in which izuku received ofa earlier cuz AM got together with inko asdfghj I’m curious to know if you have anything else you could share about that verse. Also, like, you said bakugou and izuku still had a messed up relationship, but did izuku hide his quirk after receiving it then?
YOOO uhhh, yes absolutely????
(asfjhds also i’m so sorry this reply is so late? tumblr broke for some reason and didn’t tell me I had an ask?? anyway)
this ended up LONG so im attaching a keep reading
So that little fic was kinda like an au of my au, Magnetise, wherein Izuku doesn’t go to UA when he’s older. So the lowdown of Inko/Toshi is basically that Inko was a huge underground heroes fan back in day -- her fave was Nana Shimura, who she one day happens to run into, along with her student, Toshinori. Fast forward a couple of years and Inko becomes a vigilante, becomes super popular among civilian web circles, has a tonne of run-ins with 3rd-year All Might and Gran Torino, and whoops her and Toshi accidentally fall in love. But then obvs Toshi fucks off to the USA bc AFO etc etc and Inko and him don’t see each other again for years. It’s all very angsty.
Then there’s a whole thing where Inko, in a dark place in her life, meets All For One (aka Hisashi) and they have a brief, deeply unhealthy relationship and boom, there’s an Izuku. Hisashi, like the shit human being he is, leaves when he finds out Inko’s pregnant -- he goes on to moniter Izuku when he reaches quirk-manifesting-age via the doctor who’s name escapes me rn, but when he finds out Izuku is fully quirkless Hisashi/AFO basically throws any fucks he may have given out the window. He’s a shitty person and a shitty father.
So Izuku grows up with just his mum and him. Everything there is same as canon -- so he knows Bakugou from childhood the same, and he was bullied by him the same. That’s all just as messy as ever.
Then, when Izuku’s about 6ish, All Might comes back to Japan.
Inko gave up vigilantism when she had izuku, bc a) she couldn’t fight crime while heavily pregnant and b) when izuku’s a kid she couldn’t just leave him on his own at night. Toshi is very lost as to what happened to that vigilante he was in love with. Inko doesn’t get back in touch with him bc she’s got Izuku to prioritse now, and AM is this huge, world-famous figure now, and it’s all still raw, even though it was years ago. Then one day, they run into each other (Toshi in his slightly-less-buff Real Form + disguise). Toshi recognises her; they reconnect; Izuku gets very attached to Toshi and vice versa -- and it all goes from there.
So that lands us with why and how Toshi is Izuku’s adoptive/step-dad in this au. Izuku has a decent dad who he knows is All Might, but he obviously can’t tell anyone that. He’s still badly bullied, still got it pretty shitty.
But! Toshi chooses Izuku as his sucessor earlier in this AU bc he knows him earlier, if that makes sense? So Izuku has much longer to train and prepare his body for OFA, meets Gran earlier (so has a decent teacher earlier), his mum actually teaches him how to fight from a young-ish age (bc Inko is a GOOD MUM and she refuses to teach him anything until he’s old enough to handle it). Overall, he just has more time to prepare himself, and a bigger support network (his mum, his dad, his uncle gran).
I imagine Izuku recieves OFA not much earlier, bc his parents love him and want him to be safe -- but maybe a year or so earlier than in canon. So when he’s around 13? This gives him MUCH more time to progress his quirk to the point it’s at in that little fic i wrote.
The au of the au occurs here, bc Izuku doesn’t go to UA here, and instead trains with his dad and Gran independently. He gets a little extra help from the UA staff tho, bc he even tho he doesn’t attend, AM still teaches there (at the insistence of Inko -- because of his degrading health, she thinks it would be good for him to step away from heroing and perhaps teach?) and so he’s around and about the school with his dad a lot.
In terms of Bakugou, Izuku definitely keeps OFA a secret from him after he gets it -- he has more of a support system so doesn’t feel quite as messed up in terms of the whole complex he and Bakugou have between each other. It’s still complicated, but it lacks that part where Izuku seems to feel like he owes bakugou explanations for anything. Bakugou, obviously tho, notices something’s up, and eventually Izuku accidentally shows his quirk before they’re set to go to high school. Baku takes izuku manifesting a quirk Very Badly just the same -- hence why he still has a lot of anger towards Izuku in the AU.
kjhdfj okay i went ON AND ON, im so sorry! I hope that was part of what you were looking for? Honestly I’m still just unbelievably happy that you liked my fic enough to ask me questions about it??? You literally have brightened my life sm??? my heart is so full.
Feel free to ask anything you want! I might write more in this universe at some point, bc it was super fun; Magnetise I’m also working on! which, if toshinko is you jam, feel free ti hit up! (if it’s not, that’s very fair and i respect it)
tysm again!!!

- Pro Hero Izuku has a lot of weaponry on him at all times but he’s personally a big fan of knives. He’s usually got at least 5 or 6 on him at all times in all different sizes. He likes them because they’re multi-use, intimidating and, in the hands of a skilled wielder (like Izuku definitely is) can end fights without permanent damage. His favorite knife is the one he stole off of Stain to Iida’s dismay but its just a really good knife okay, Tenya, nothing personal.
-  Todoroki is rescue hero working at Froppy’s agency in Nara (kind of the middle of nowhere). He doesn’t really get involved in the big villain battles unless he’s caught up in them, does no marketing for himself, rarely takes interviews, does his best to just be another hero... and yet he’s #20 in the charts. He is the highest ranked rescue hero who goes out of his way to avoid the spotlight and he doesn’t know why he’s so highly ranked. This is because he doesn’t understand the overwhelming power of THIRSTY fans.
- Izuku and Katsuki have a very special relationship. They read each other so well, are a well-oiled, scarily efficient team in battle. Outside of that, they’re disasters. Due to past experiences with ‘friendly spars’ that have gotten out of control they need a minimum of 2 babysitters pro heroes to spot them and be in a qualified facility before they go at it (which they don’t always do). Most every time they meet up they’ve got to rough house a bit to everyone’s horror. Bakugou will get loud and indignant if you call them friends but then rant for 30 minutes on why Deku is one of the best damn heroes he’s ever known.
- Speaking of which, on an operations level Izuku and Katsuki are much better separated than partnered. Kiri much more approachable and adds a sense of balance to Bakugou which is why he’s #1 not long after Izuku leaves. Izuku/Katsuki together were terrifying but a little bit too chaotic? They egged each other on where Kiri calms Bakugou down and Izuku forced to be “in charge” (as composed to constantly competing with Bakugou) of others also makes him less reckless. They’re still a brutally efficient combo but they’ve both agreed that separation really helped them grow.
- Gran Torino went senile not long after Izuku graduated Yuuei having fulfilled his promise to both Nana and Toshi and couldn’t fight any more. Izuku took care of him the best he can and put the old hero up in a luxurious old age home, he visited once a week watching more and more of his mentor slip away. He died when Izuku was still working at Two Hero with Bakugou and it was one of his incentives for leaving the agency and forming One For All.
- Shinsou ended up in the Hero course during their second year, but he went to 1B. Still maintained a good relationship with Izuku and the 1C gang. After graduation, he was surprised when Yaoyorozu offered him a position at her agency. He works there mainly in intelligence gathering, interrogation and general agency management. He still does field work but not nearly to the extent of other heroes.
- Shinsou and Izuku are the lowest ranked in their grade, Shinsou being in the 90s while Izuku is in the high 70s. Izuku will never let his friend forget that he, quirkless and hated by the system, is higher ranked than Shinsou. Its really because Shinsou is kind of a reclusive hero only known because he works at such a prestigious agency. If and when Shinsou decides to make an effort at his popularity it’s all over for Izuku. Until then, Izuku will lord it over him.
- As for the 1C gang, Patrick moved back to America right after graduation. He’s doing odds and ends, still trying to figure out what he wants to do. Does frequent calls/visits to Japan to visit his high school friends. Korudo did end up working his father’s company but on his own terms, donates a lot to Izuku’s AFO foundation. Izuku probably sees Taketsu the most, she’s a quirk lawyer and works with Izuku professionally in terms of quirk advocacy and advancement.
- Hero Names: Bakugou - Kacchan, Todoroki - stays as Shouto, Aoyoma - Lumiere, Shinsou - Hypnos
- As soon as he graduated, Izuku moved into All Might’s old apartment because he couldn’t stand to sell it. He left it almost identical only converting the back study and pretty much living out of boxes the first few years. He’s very, very slowly taking down All Might’s things and putting up his own but each change involves a lot of struggle and crying, but it feels like healing. In addition, Toshi was able to change his will before dying so Izuku inherited an insane amount of money from All Might’s estate. He couldn’t spend it all in his lifetime if he tried. He mostly keeps it away but donates a lot of it to AFO and other charities.
- Deku is a fan favorite as far submissive ships go. In every fan pairing he’s put in (and there are some wild one out there) he is the delicate, submissive quirkless partner. When asked on it, 1A just comments “have you ever actually seen Deku??” still the trope persists. Popular fan pairings are Bakudeku, Shoudeku, Iideku and Uradeku.
- The Class has varying ways of referring to one another, most of them feel comfortable calling each other by their first names but almost all continue to call Iida by his surname (except Ochako and Izuku when he’s feeling annoyed/sappy). Izuku and Katsuki have a whole language of names within the names they call each other, all you should know is that if you hear Izuku say “Bakugou” or Katsuki “Izu-chan” you better run like hell.
- Midoriya Hisashi was officially killed halfway through Izuku’s Third Year in a villian attack at his office in America. Inko was distraught but Izuku really couldn’t bring himself to mourn a man he never knew (and was already exhausted still grieving for All Might). Inko and Izuku got a sizable payout from it, ensuring Inko will be able to live comfortably for the rest of her life. Izuku never touched the money, relying first on All Might’s money then his own when he had to. ((Most people know I’m pretty ham for DFO so let me say this, on paper “Midoriya Hisashi” was killed it’s up to you if someone else is still around)
- While OFA doesn’t have any permanent staff, it does have heroes who frequently work there. It started this way because Izuku couldn’t get any heroes to permanently attach and kept it up once he realized the versatility it gave him. Shouto and Uravity usually do at least one or two stints a year. Pretty much all of the unattached heroes of 1A have worked with Deku multiple times (even a few attached, Ingenium surprising everyone by leaving his agency for a month to work with his old friend). Lemillion does it when his schedule allows and a few veteran heroes like Present Mic and Cementoss have done work there as well. And while Number One Kacchan hasn’t officially worked at One For All, he and Red Riot partner do enough inter-agency work that they kind of have.
- Over the years OFA acquired the respect of many heroes but there’s still assholes who refuse to take orders from a quirkless man. Now officially Deku has no problems with those who do not wish to work with him, it’s well within their rights. However, he’ll usually slyly make it known that people have turned down offers from him or spoke against him. And suddenly those bigoted heroes find they’re getting less support from those connected to Deku (a number that grows bigger by the year). There are less team-ups, less chance of being voted for hero titles, more whispers about how a hero being quirkist in this age is so old-fashioned and not cool. The heroes are like ??? how the hell did this happen while Deku sits there and smiles, not having lifted a finger. He’s a kind man but a vindictive one for sure.
- Izuku named his foundation after All For One, the villain who terrorized Japan and ultimately killed All Might, purely out of spite. While Izuku never confronted him in this universe, he knows the villain is still out there. The AFO Foundation took a name that was once feared and turned it into something that could bring people hope. He wanted to tell all the wannabe criminals who would recognize the name that Izuku knows and he’s not afraid. Also he still considers it his duty as AM’s successor to stop him so the Foundation is two middle fingers up to AFO as a challenge.
- Rikimaru-shishou (Izuku and later Shinsou’s martial arts teacher in TLWA) has mostly retired from teaching, only taking a few students here and there. Izuku still keeps in contact when possible, meeting up for a friendly spar when he can squeeze it in. Most of the students Daiki takes these days are kids Izuku recommends with puppy dog eyes.
-Mirio and Izuku end up developing a pretty good relationship. It starts when Izuku tries to intern with Nighteye in his first year and it’s pretty ugly. Nighteye refuses to take him but some, not all, of the Izuku/OFA/Mirio situation comes out. Mirio is very disturbed that his mentor was grooming him to be All Might 2 and kind of separates from Sir and takes Izuku’s side. Really excited by Deku’s vision for a better hero society and they have a big/lil brother relationship. Is super okay when Izuku takes the SoP title from him, like Izuku not bothered with rankings but he knows how important it is to his bro.
- So good news first, Mirio and Tamaki are long term partners and adopt a little girl, Koharu, who has a ‘villainous’ quirk and was abandoned by her family. Mirio being on paternity leave is one of the factors that allows Izuku to take the SoP away from him. So uh bad news, Eri was never recovered during TLWA version of the Overhaul arc. Don’t ask me exact details cause I don’t know lol but Izuku wasn’t really involved and Overhaul and few of his men managed to flee Japan with Eri and haven’t been found since. Mirio and Tamaki both took the loss to heart which is why they wanted to try and pay back that mistake. They’re both great dads though.
- Due to being so outrageously busy during their first year as Pros, Bakugou forgot to maintain a regular haircut schedule so it started to grow out. Izuku and some others commented that the longer hair looked good on him. It got to the point where it was getting in the way so he ties it back in a little tail that looks like a little explosion. That, and his permanent facial scruff, make him a very attractive hero but his personality still leaves a lot to be desired.

BNHA AU Ideas: Don’t Praise the Almighty (Part 1)
Also on AO3
hold on to your hats everyone - this is part one. i was going to put them together, then i realised part two is 6000 words and thats just too long
TW for: implied abuse of all kinds, straight-up physical and emotional child abuse, gaslighting, all might if he was a terrible person.
TL;DR:
Things you must sacrifice to make a hero: Humanity, Empathy.
Things you must sacrifice to be a hero: Everything.
izuku wants to be a hero, imagine the first ep happens etc. yagi doesnt so much say "you can be a hero" as "ill make you a hero"
an aside: inko is an absent parent, to make ends meet and a poor way of coping with a missing Hisashi. Izuku grows up without any positive adults figures in his life.
yagi makes izuku train and train and train, the kid’s hands bleed and his legs ache but allmight makes him keep going. allmight says he's useless and pathetic and a crybaby and izuku believes him, because he's allmight
they spar and yagi just holds back enough to not let izuku get hurt too badly to train. even katsuki is disturbed bc quirkless deku is coming to school with black eyes and swollen wrists
when katsuki calls him pathetic izuku just nods
"ill get better though"
and katsuki feels so gross he doesnt try to fuck with izuku for weeks
and so izuku is so convinced this is normal because katsuki does it, and mum does it, and now allmight? thats just how you treat kids he thinks. or quirkless ones at least
hes still a big fan of allmight because he doesnt see whats wrong. hes just pathetic and useless but then he'll get a quirk and he'll be worth something for the first time in his life
he barely sleeps, barely eats, just trains and studies and trains some more. he collapses. all might stands there until izuku gets back up and makes him keep running
reasons all mights like this
he is 1, suffering from internalised quirk discrimination
2, nana's dead bc she wasn't "strong enough"
3, he thinks he can shape izuku into the perfect selfless hero, and better person than he ever was.
hes convinced this is for the greater good. hes a dick but hes so sure hes in the right here
by the time of the entrance exam izuku is,,, kinda fucked up
he passes with flying colours because he used his quirk for the first time, broke his arm, and immediately moved on to snaping finger after finger. the teachers watched on, horrified as this child mutilated himself to get points
all might smiled. because this is what he wanted.
he saves ochacco too
he gets in and allmight is pleased with him, even more pleased than the time izuku admitted he hadn't slept for 72 hours and still got a perfect score on his test
and izuku thinks this was all worth it to see his hero smile at him
izuku is in 1A
izuku actually listed that he feels less pain due to his quirk, which aizawa believes but hes still not sold on the idea of a hero that destroys themselves. he doesnt know if izuku heals better or faster, but he's sure that may broken bones cant be good
aizawa is convinced he's going to expel izuku during the quirk test. the look he sees on izuku’s face when he says he's expelling the lowest scorer makes his stomach churn
because all of the other kids look worried, nervous
izuku looks like hes going to throw up.
the kid is trembling and pale and aizawa watches as he turns to ochako, smiles brightly and says "let's do our best" while he holds back full body tremors the other kids don't see
he breaks toes and fingers and he cries but he doesn't flinch at the pain
the only time he flinches is when someone looks him in the eyes, if someone speaks too loud, and at the firecracker pops of katsuki's quirk
and aizawa feels sick
the ball toss, he just can't watch this kid break anymore, and he stops his quirk
for a second he freezes, because this kids quirk manages pain, he'll be feeling all of those broken bones, he'll obviously notice
right?
but izuku doesnt notice his missing quirk until he throws the ball. he turns around, looking sick. aizawa feels so lost when he looks at him with pure relief
"oh, you're eraserhead"
izuku tears up for the first time in that class.
"please give me back my quirk"
aizawa feels so lost he blinks, and his quirk drops with it. there is something totally wrong about the utter relief the kid feels having this horrifically damaging quirk back, and there is something bothering aizawa about it, but he doesn't know what
"dont use your quirk for the rest of this test, kid. not unless you can use it without breaking something"
izuku nods but aizawa knows the kid will just try to hide it. he takes him by the shoulder when the others have moved on
"i mean it, midoriya. no quirk, or i'll expell you on the spot"
and izuku just looks so lost
"but, i have to? i'm-"
"you didn't flinch when i took your quirk. you can feel every broken bone, can't you?"
izuku just nods, like walking with broken toes is normal, like throwing a ball with broken fingers is easy. aizawa knows it's not
he just sighs.
"no quirk. we'll work on training it after. you're ahead enough not to fail the course, go to recovery girl now. you aren't expelled"
izuku just looks hurt
aizawa shoos him away and almost misses the thin form of all might slink out from behind the wall to follow izuku
he's worried, and confused. But he can't just, abandon a field of kids
he texts hizashi bc that's just who he texts when he's panicking, and he asks him to look out for smallmight and izuku, somewhere on the way to the infirmary. so present mic turns on the first movie he finds on his computer (an english language copy of rocky) yells "ENGLISH PRACTISE TIME" and runs out the door
1C is so lost
anyway, present mic can be quiet when he tries and when he hears the sound of allmight sternly talking to a student that's crying? he tries real fucking hard
he basically catches
"you're supposed to be stronger than this, why did he make you stop?"
"he saw my bones breaking-i couldnt-"
"and so you flinched? didn't we train?"
"i didnt flinch! he made me stop!"
allmight backhands him
"dont waste it. either get better at hiding it or learn to use your quirk without breaking bones quickly or ill find another successor. one that isn't useless."
present mic hears izuku agree and cry and he feels ill. he sneaks back a little further, then loudly walks down the hall. allmight smiles at him, and he wants to punch the man
izuku smiles at him too, tears in his eyes but like he's happy to see another hero. present mic cant understand why izuku is pressed so close to a man that hurt him, like he's more afraid of present mic than allmight
he walks with them to recovery girl, chatting like he was meant to be there. hes so grateful allmight is new, because he totally has a class he's meant to be teaching right now and that would be so suspicious if he knew his schedule
he walks them all the way to the door, and he lingers. there is a touch of steel in his eyes when he tells allmight to take care because what he really means is "take care of yourself because i will not"
and hes halfway down the corridor before he freezes
why did izuku seem so comfortable with a man he shouldn't know
anyway present mic is having a quiet breakdown for 20 seconds before he sprints back to his class, pretends he never left, and panic texts aizawa
so aizawa, with a little great context, knows that that, particular, conversation wasn't as,,, unsavoury,,, as it could,,, be implied,,,
but like,,,,,, he's really lost on why izuku would know small might and he's very worried
bakugo is fuCKinG PisSed
izuku left?? and he wasn't expelled???
Any,,, unsavoury implications arent something I'm going to talk ab in this au bc it doesn't need to be worse,,, but it's very much intentional
so aizawa is having an actual moral crisis rn bc hizashi isn't a liar and he doesn't want to like, not believe when he saw. but really? the symbol of peace is terrible??? and hizashi doesn't want to believe it either. both of them as so sure they are just missing context or something
bakugo stalks up to recovery girls office after class bc wtf deku?? and he walks in to just see izuku blankly picking at new white scars
he actually perks up when katsuki enters
and there is this man standing over izuku. this man he's seen with izuku before, yelling at him, but someone izuku seems happy to be around. it's not deku’s dad, he knows that. and the guy is too blonde and tall to have literally any relation to him.
a lot of the fire in katsuki goes out when he sees how tired izuku looks, and the question he was going to yell becomes more of a mumble
"so, you have a quirk now? just like that?"
he looks up and he sees that man's hand on izuku's shoulder, curled like a claw, so tight it must hurt. but izuku doesn't flinch or shy away, he smiles softly
"i'm really lucky, huh kacchan?"
and as much as izuku looks like he believes it, katsuki has the strongest feeling that this is the worst possible thing that could have happened to his once-friend
he just leaves
and he almost runs straight into his new teacher. they lock eyes and even though katsuki doesn't know whats going on, aizawa doesn't know whats going on, they both just know something is happening
and its not good
but what can they do
hes the symbol of peace
recovery girl is 100% in denial bc she new baby toshi and he's a dork but he's a good boy
izuku gets knocked tf out by recovery girls heal and toshi carries him out of the school grounds and shes like "how cute"
honestly they get to they gate, he wakes izuku up and reminds him to run home to get in the extra cardio, and izuku does. all the way home.. not only bc yagi wanted him to, but that's a big bit but bc if he was late hed wouldn’t get dinner
so the battle trial
so aizawa is like,,, : | ab everything
so he attends the battle trial rather than take the nap he really fucking wanted
the kids come out in their costumes and something sits poorly about the way izuku positively preens at almighty compliments. so basically it goes like the show, but allmight doesnt try to stop Bakugo. aizawa doesn't have audio, but he sees what the kids see and rips the mic out of allmights hand to tell bakugo to stop
he doesnt have to, though
because izuku has already vanished from sight
bakugo looks lost, aizawa is worried, but allmight just looks smug because a second later, izuku drops from the ceiling where he swung up, and punches bakugo in the back of the head
allmight grins and it looks nasty
izuku gives bakugo a once-over to make sure hes ok, wraps his wrists, then puts him in the recovery position and scampers out of the room to ochako
aizawa is lost, because that is c l e a r l y combat training. from the back of the room, todoroki starts watching in earnest
with ochako, he grabs the bomb. they walk out of the exercise and all might congratulates them on winning and izuku looks so happy! but allmight isn't done
"young midoriya, why didn't you use your quirk?"
the only people that notice the way he pales are todoroki and aizawa
"sorry sir, i didn't want to disappoint mr aizawa"
allmight nods, and he smiles but aizawa doesnt like it
"thats ok my boy, we'll have to see about getting you some out of class quirk training, huh?"
izuku smiles. hes happy, but he looks panicked
he looks guilty about being afraid
aizawa silently tells his agency he needs the week off to investigate something personal, and they readily give him the time off
izuku mumbles happily to himself about the exercise, stilling when all might looks gazes with him. he stops, flushes, and apologises. allmight nods.
he begins again, but hes not mumbling anymore, hes speaking clearly and concisely with the other students, even though he doesnt want to talk to them, he just wants to think. but allmight says to talk clearly to everyone or to remain silent and he just wants so badly to talk about the exercise
todoroki looks between izuku and allmight and he wonders
USJ time baby
allmight uses up his time, like before
the difference is, when the nomu comes for aizawa? izuku doesnt hesitate to jump in. thats what allmight wanted. he wanted someone so selfless that "would i give my life for them" isn't even a question that would cross their mind, they would just move
izuku stalls. he's shivering and shaking, walking on broken toes but he stands between aizawa and the nomu and he smiles
shigiraki looks at izuku and doesn't see a hero in training. he sees someone like him, like his league. someone who has be stepped on and ruined and reborn
and he wants him
when he sees something he likes, he wants it. like his sensei and his quirks. shigiaki collects people like action figures to use how he likes
anyway, he sees this little 'hero' and for all his stubbornness he knows he won't get izuku today
so he does what his sensei did to him all those years ago
he shows kindness. just enough to break him
he looks izuku in the eyes and says
"hero society is so rotten they break children into weapons to fight other broken pieces. whats fair about that?"
and izuku looks stunned. he drops his smile.
"from one broken piece to another, i wont shatter you today."
kurogiri moves izuku and aizawa just outside of the usj
they cant get in, aizawa has no quirk to break through the walls and izuku is shell shocked
he takes a second to look at aizawa like his world is falling down and aizawa understands.
and then
allmight appears
and aizawa hates himself for how relieved he feels
allmight looks at izuku and izuku smiles so wide. and then he frowns
"they want to kill you"
"they aren't the first, my boy."
and izuku pauses
"they seem pretty sure they can, sir."
and allmights smile looks meaner
"what, you really think so little of this old man?"
and izuku shakes his head violently
"not at all! no, im sorry-"
allmight looks at his student and suddenly there isnt a wall anymore, blasted into tiny shards by allmight’s punch. izuku scrambles inside after him
aizawa tells him to stay outside, to stay safe. but allmight levels a glare at him that almost hurts to meet. aizawa cringes and rushes after them, cradling broken arms
the fight ends much the same, but upon seeing izuku in the way on his hand, shigiraki closes his fist
allmight doesn't miss that
and, with that the other teachers arrive. and again, present mic and aizawa wonder why izuku knows allmight small form
oh also just as a weird powerplay thing, allmight calls izuku by his first name in private while izuku calls him sir everywhere
aizawa has the worst of the injuries, but years of sleep deprivation mean he can pretty easily resist the call of sleep after recovery girls quirk. not that anyone knows that. so he hears the edges of a conversation between hero and student
he hears sobs and a slap and apologies from both parties. he hears a louder conversation on training after class to better use izuku’s quirk and aizawa decides he's going to force himself into this 'training' because he doesnt like the optics on any of this
allmights angry that the villains were fond of izuku, bc that means izuku was doing something wrong, right? and he's also angry izuku barely used his quirk, but he does kinda understand needing to be able to walk still
anyway in the training we get the joy of a creepy scene of yagi assessing the physique of a barely dressed izuku
aizawa isn't there yet and boy howdy does he feel ill when yagi walks out of the changing rooms a few minutes before izuku does
anyway so it doesn't take long for yagi and aizawa to get izuku using his quirk w/o achy breaky bones and izuku is proud, and so is aizawa
but yagi just kinda pipes in with "about time" and izukus face crumples
aizawa just says "better late than never" and izuku gives a watery smile
yagi scares enji but he just royally pisses off todoroki
bc todoroki just looks at the guy
"big strong me, what you gonna do, punch me? yeah right bastard and i'll go screaming to the press. I dont give a fuck what you think you dick of an old man!"
please izuku is totally convinced that this is just normal training, that yagi is doing his best and a teacher, is doing right by him. and shouto is just,,, he doesnt know the whole story. just knows that all might scares izuku and that all mights secretary has a connection to him
but he knows that yagi was creepy enough to make his old man have bad vibes and thats an achievement
Enji sat, reigning back a snarl as the green boy threw Shouto -his Shouto- from the ring, to land on his back in a graceless cloud of dust. Beside him, All Might’s secretary grinned. It wasn’t a nice grin, like the hero, but a nasty crawling one that made Enji feel cold even with his flames dancing around his face.
Enji had never liked the man, his instincts telling him there was something horrifically off about him. But the number one hero had resources he couldn’t dream of, so he kept his lips shut.
“Well done, my boy.”
There was no familial resemblance between the skeletal man beside him, and the boy who stood both victorious and broken where his son should have been. No resemblance to the hulking oaf of a hero either. But their quirks were markedly similar, as were their smiles, if the boy’s was a little kinder.
The man turned to him, all polite smiles and condolences for his son’s loss.
The smug aura around him so strong that Enji allowed himself, for just a second, to pity the boy in green.
Its just tenya and todoroki who know
and quickly bakugo too, bc he was there for shoutos tragic backstory reveal, which included izukus too
and like,,, mic and aizawa are in denial bc jesus christ its the number one hero and hes normally so nice
izuku v katsuki babey!
basically izuku starts to panic and bakugo stops the fight and grabs his hand
"pull yourself together deku. forget everyone else, this is just a fight between me and you, go it?"
and izuku gives a shakey smile, and nods. bakugo releases his hand
"lets start this again, huh izuku"
"sure thing kacc-. Katsuki"
and then fiGHT and its great and its a tie bc they are both so fucking exhausted. izuku and bakguo have to get hauled to their feet by midnight, but both of them are grinning
izuku has trouble w his hero name, like, a l o t bc everything he comes up with yagi says no
but yagi wont give him any ideas eventually izuku just ends up with his hero name being "nine" bc yagi liked that one
katsuki can just,,, tell izuku doesn't like it (bc it reduces him as a hero down to his quirk)
(he wants the name jackrabbit)
he has no supports in his costume bc "it makes you look weak" and no support gear either
ok so , his bones are less fucked than canon zuku but hes willing to break them fucking constantly
aizawa actually comes up to him before the sports festival and says "you break your bones, you get disqualified. no excuses"
yagi is p i s s e d but just nods politely to aizawa tells izuku hed better do as aizawa says, as stupid as a request it may be
also izuku really,, wants to paint his nails dumb glittery colours like ochako and mina do so they paint his nails for him! and then at lunch yagi scrubs the polish off with a dish scrubber
to make it worse, mina is sad izuku took it off, but she just
pauses
when she sees his fingers are almost bleeding
"midoriya, what happened?"
"oh haha funny thing, one of our teachers said i might get a uniform violation so i got a little enthusastic with scrubbing it off, sorry!"
aizawa just winces
one of the finals nails in the coffin is todoroki asking if "the tall thin blonde guy" is izukus dad
aizawa says no
todoroki says "good"
s t a i n a r c
so izuku finds iida and steps between iida and stain, starts fighting him, todoroki shows up, stain starts rambling about how allmight is the best hero and todoroki gives him a strange look
"i used to agree. but seeing allmight at school, i dont think hes the icon of morality everyone says"
izuku is spluttering, denying it, stain is just watching them. so stain isnt even fighting them, hes interested. bc this selfless kid is the one shigiraki wants
iida is lost too and he gets this,,, look in his eyes like he's starting to connect some dots
anyway, fight proceeds, they win the nomu tries to carry izuku off, stain stops the nomu and saves izuku and vaguely he realizes the way izuku just, sits in his arms, like he doesnt know how to react to being touched, and he pushes it aside
and he holds izuku close because all he knows is that this boy is kind and good and the world has hurt him and he says that this boy he is holding is the only hero hes ever worth met their salt
oh but after the hero killer thing, yagi storms into the office and hauls izuku out by his injured arm
and tenya and shouto just feel sick
"should, should we tell all might? about how his secretary treats midoriya?"
shouto just glares at the half-open door, quiet apologies drifting down the hall until they turn another corner
"i'm quite sure that man already knows."

this is not a girlfriend (1/?)
Summary: Yagi Toshinori gets the wrong idea about his mentors. It is, as Nana earnestly frames it, of paramount importance that her young charge have a positive reference for relationships.
They should’ve known fake relationships never go according to plan.
*Shimura is Nana’s maiden name; no canonical husband, no Kotarou.
1 - 2 - ?
.
.
The thing was, Shimura Nana had never thought of dating Sorahiko.
They had met on the job maybe five years ago, and been work-partners since. Thrown into the same case, and then paired for patrols around the prefecture… the two of them had spent hours upon hours in each other’s space. Nana comfortably labeled him her best friend, surpassing even Megane Akira in best friend level (mostly due to presence, a little due to her level of synergy with Sorahiko).
He had helped her with One for All. Sacrificed a lot of down-time and goodwill with Recovery Girl to ensure that Nana had control over it. Didn’t ask for anything but a platter of taiyaki every training session.
Now, jokes and winks and nudges had certainly been made about their nonexistent relationship. Nana could retire if she had a yen every time someone assumed Sorahiko was her boyfriend, or if her parents hinted about ‘fertility’ and ‘handsome young man.’
Sorahiko never mentioned an interest, and so Nana gratefully moved through life only slightly infatuated with her partner. They’d seen each other’s ugly and ungraceful sides too many times to think idealistically, and had only ever shared a bed once. Because they were both cheap and were loathe to pay for an extra bed in the hotel.
(They built a pillow wall, and they pretended like everything was normal so well, Nana fell asleep between one word and the next. She woke up at the crack of dawn knowing that he’d broken the pillow wall; he’d entangled their limbs together; he was the one snoring weakly into her hair. Thank goodness Sorahiko wasn’t fully coherent and awake until ten in the morning.)
“Toshi-kun,” she says calmly, to hide the hysterical laughter. “Can you repeat that?”
Big blue eyes blink up. Calf-eyed. Guileless. Yagi Toshinori, even at thirteen years of age, is a charmer. “Are you getting Gran Torino-sensei anything for Valentine’s Day? I tried asking him, but he just said,” and here he puffs out his skinny chest and speaks like he’s gargling gravel, “‘We don’t need cheap gifts.’”
Nana gives up the ghost. “Bahaha! He would say that!” And completely neglect to cut the underlying problem, geez. Her young charge believes that they’re a couple. Should she correct him? “What does your mom usually do?”
He shrugs. “I dunno. She and otou-san… I dunno.”
Oh. Nana had done her research on Yagi Toshinori, even though a Quirkless thirteen year old boy shouldn’t raise any flags whatsoever, but even a routine background check won’t look into the marital health of the kid’s parents. She wonders if she and Sorahiko represent a legitimately healthy relationship.
“I could give him a box of taiyaki,” she muses, just to keep their conversation going. Toshinori’s invested in this, she can tell.
“How unromantic!” he cries out, looking for the first time like a doting son. Oof. That sends pangs rattling through her systems. She’s never wanted to raise kids; she thinks she’d be pretty bad at the whole domestic thing. Now, if Sorahiko could be the stay-at-home parent—wait, bad thought. “Oh, but most couples usually exchange chocolates, I think. That’s what I see girls do at school.”
“And do you have a girl? Or boy?”
Toshinori’s expression is pure hang-dog. “No, oshishou.” He brightens again. “What about… flowers? Can guys get flowers?”
She ruffles his sunny yellow hair. “Yeah, buddy. Guys can get flowers.”

Transcript: Shimura Nana to Torino Sorahiko. February 10th.
SN: Sorahiko!
TS: Shimura.
SN: Did you know Toshi-kun thinks we’re an item? It’s so sweet! [Choking noises, presumably from TS.] Turns out, he asked you about us a week or two ago, and you just went all, ‘hrghh we don’t need cheap gifts hrrgh.’
TS: I—I don’t sound like that.
SN: Ch! Sure.
TS: Did you correct him? Do you need me to correct him? The little brat—
SN: Aw, it’s fine!
TS: It’s fine?
SN: What’s a little bit of bromance? All matters aside, I think we’re role models for the poor boy. Role models in having a healthy relationship, I mean. [More choking noises.] I think it’d go a long way to prevent some resentment towards parental figures if we, y’know—hey, are you okay?
TS: Son of a—no, I’m not okay. Are you telling me we should start a fake relationship for some brat’s feelings?
SN: Yeah! How hard can it be? We only meet each other at the park to train and spar! And for meals out… but that’s because you two are awful at nutrition.
TS: Vitamins don’t exist.
SN: Keep telling yourself that. Anyway, it’s not like he’s ever going to find out we don’t live together!
TS: Ghhk. Okay. Fine. You win. We’ll have a fake relationship for the kid, and once you deem the kid emotionally stable enough to see how people break up and maintain friendship, we go back to a world where we aren’t a couple.
SN: … Stop me if this is, um, invading your privacy, but…
TS: What, Shimura.
SN: You’ve had relationships before, right? Oh, shit, I didn’t even think about the possibility that you don’t like women. [Significant pause of five seconds.] Listen, listen, it’s fine! I’m, uh, into both, if we’re laying out sexualities, and I’ve been with both—
TS: Okay! I get it! Geez, Shimura. [Clearing throat.] No. I’ve never really—tried a relationship with anybody.
SN: General disinterest or…?
TS: Sure.
SN: Great answer! Very helpful! I won’t knock bed-sharing off the table, but I’ll make note of bed-warming, if you know what I mean.
TS: Has anyone ever told you off for innuendos?
SN: There’s a, snrrk, first time for everything.
//
She has an understated bouquet of yellow and red roses in one hand. In the other, she is holding a small, ribbon-adorned box containing two of her very-own taiyaki (which Sorahiko had been chasing for years, ever since she baked them after a case gone wrong). Currently, Nana was fielding questions from Toshinori, whose interest had reignited with a passion.
“So do you wear your ring on a necklace?” he asks, still in the early phase of his warm-ups. Otherwise, he’d be more focused on breathing and persevering.
Her heart skips a beat. Ring. Necklace. Wedding ring. “I keep it at home,” she answers. Smooth, Shimura. Your charge thinks you’re married. She’ll have to warn Sorahiko about the new development. “You never want to risk scuffing gold, eh?”
“Oshishou always thinks ahead!”
“If your oshishou always thinks ahead, she better have my goddamned breakfast,” Sorahiko calls out. Stomping across the field, duffel bag full of gear in hand, her very best friend in the world. Her fake husband. Who upon seeing Nana, comes to a sudden, bewildered stop. “Um.”
Out of the corner of her eye, Nana sees Toshinori pause his sets of push-ups. She bounds up from her seat with a grin, and flings herself towards Sorahiko. He catches her—she links her ankles at the small of his back—Nana kisses him for the briefest of moments. A childish ‘mwah!’ that gets her nothing but a low, strangled noise.
“Happy Valentine’s Day!” she cheers.
“What the fuck,” he says against her cheek, dazed enough for his voice to be soft. Good. She hopes Toshinori didn’t hear that.
“Play along.” Sorahiko, despite his shock, sets her down gently. He stares at the box and the bouquet, and almost flinches back when she shoves them toward him. “Happy Valentine’s Day,” she repeats, a little slower, hintingly.
“Ah. Right.” He cradles the bouquet in one arm, and pops open the box. He’s silent. Long enough for Nana to worry about overstepping boundaries, and perhaps she shouldn’t have pushed Sorahiko to enter his first relationship knowing it had an expiration date—he abruptly ducks down and kisses her. Misses the mouth almost entirely. “Thanks.”

toshinko
so, i made one about inko, and i tried to keep all my dumbass toshinko hcs to myself because it was about just inko dammit, but its time now
- they started talking because izuku was impulsively dumb and liked to consistently break his bones and someone had to explain to inko why the hell her son kept coming home completely shattered head to toe
- it was really slow at first because inko was absolutely starstruck, and toshi was kinda afraid of delivering bad news to his mentee's guardian on a regular basis, so even though there were some emails passed back and forth about izuku's health, that's all. barely a few, all izuku related. it all really came to a head when toshi had his last stand and ua forced its students to live on campus and their meeting happened
- the emails continued but much more frequently, "izuku's doing well in school! one of the top five in his class!" "oh lovely! i do hope his hero training is going fine! i havent heard of any injuries as of late?" very formal at first. it only takes off because izuku lowkey accidentally invites toshi over for tea and toshi obliges because izuku just wants to spend time with him how could he ever say no to his son mentee
- inko fucking loses it because what the fuck izuku you can't just go casually invting former #1 heroes to our home for tea
- it's awkward.
- it happens again.
- it's a little less awkward.
- and then inko is the one to invite him over for tea because maybe you can just give me your monthly reports in person and i can serve you dinner? it's the least i can do for the person helping my son to acheive his dream
- the rest is history and izuku still sometimes has to sit down because someone brings up that he's the reason all might is dating his mother
- so around the time inko realizes that hey, yagi toshinori (not all might) may be someone i'm interested in, it's been so long and this might go somewhere, she instantly calls up hisashi (who she is good friends with even after they decided that being together together wasn't best for them or izuku) and is like "i'm sending you some goddamned divorce papers because i've got a date"
- hisashi is instantly on it like "hun tell me everything"
- hisashi lets her gush about it over the phone and helps to ease her stress because the last time she went on a date was with him, like twenty years ago
- their first date is a little awkward but it's only because they're both so rusty at the whole dating thing, but it ends wonderfully (a kiss at her doorstep, he walked her to her doorstep what a gentleman) with the promise of another date in the future
- toshinori will casually show up on her doorstep sometimes with flowers just cause and it makes inko melt every time
- most of their dates are at little family run restaurants/diners where they just sit and talk for hours upon hours
- inko has the Motherly Instinct and goes ham on toshi once she realizes that he sometimes forgets to take care of himself at the barest minimum
- it makes her happy to be able to cook for two again, after izuku moved out
- she absoultely teases him about his hero costumes and his hair, because it makes him flustered every time and she thinks it's cute
- one day, the topic of older pro heroes pops up and inko tells toshi that the reason she puts her hair up the way she does is because one of her favorite pro heroes as a kid, nana shimura, wore it like that. toshi nearly cries
- oh shit i totally forgot—
- this ones gonna be long friends so buckle up
- there's a point in her life where she feels like she's lost everything because toshi and izuku come to the consensus that it's time she knows about ofa and it shatters her. they had been keeping this from her for how long? this is how izuku got a quirk? do they realize how much danger they've put izuku into? do they realize that this put not only their lives, but her's and all his friend's lives at stake? they didn't think to fucking ask her permission? they didn't think to even tell her? this wasn't a decision for them to make alone and they should've known that. they've both betrayed her trust and although she loves them both dearly it hurts too much so she kinda just stops talking to them for a bit. not too long, they are her boyfriend (are they still dating after her blow up?) and her son (he probably hates her) but she just needs to be alone, to think and reflect and go about it in a calm manner. she's still angry, she'll never let go of it because it wasn't just something small she could brush off, it was her son's life, but they all talked about it. izuku couldn't exactly get rid of it conventionally so there was no logical point in being upset about it (she knew that but she was allowed to have her emotions and it hurt) but now they definitely include her in conversations about afo and ofa and everything invloving that. (she doesn't tell them but it hurts even more to know that katsuki, the boy that had bullied her son, got to know before her)
- had to get that off my chest but anyways back to our regularly scheduled fluff
- inko is all fluff and toshi is skin and bones so when they cuddle toshi lays on inko and it's literally heaven
- also toshi is little spoon most of the time, though sometimes he'll be big spoon because it's more convenient for his height
- toshi eats like he's starving and inko loves cooking so it's a match made in heaven (inko makes toshi bentos for work and sometimes she'll add little loving notes that warm toshi's heart)
- oh my god izuku doesn't even realize they're dating until he's out with iida and uraraka and iida points out his mother and all might out together, so for the rest of their outing they stalk watch the two to see if they're just out together (???) or if they're on a date (it's the ladder and let me tell you izuku does not handle that well at first)
- inko!!! does toshi's hair!!! to keep it out of his eyes!!! toshi blushes whenever someone points it out but sometimes he'll come into work with hair ties and barrets in his hair to keep his long-ass bangs from flopping everywhere (not that inko doesn't love them, she just assumes it may be inconvenient for work to have them in your face all the time)
- inko sometimes gets insecure about her body and toshi is always, always there to reassure her that she's beautiful, she's magnificent, she's a goddess and she appreciates him more than anything else in those moments because without him she didn't know if she could be as confident in herself as she is now
- toshi knows a thing or two about cooking and baking and he surprises inko on their anniversary with a candlelit dinner with a view, homemade cake, and her favorite flowers. it's super romantic and inko finds it extremely endearing
- izuku will come home every once in a while to find them asleep on the couch together napping and he never knows how to feel about it because he's still not used to his mom dating his mentor, and also now he has to make dinner for three and he's not sure how well it's gonna come out because he was never as good as his mom at cooking
- also toshi and inko are the kind of parents that call up their kid at 2 in the afternoon with the most outlandish questions about technology because for some reason the computer just bluescreened and they don't know what to do, as if izuku knows either
- (slight movie spoilers i guess? only barely) toshi may have been besties with dave in college but does that mean he knows hack shit about tech? hell no. that bitch had to have dave do everything for him and even then he had no idea what he was doing. inko literally is the same way, they complete each other in their idiocy when it comes to that kinda stuff. they both lose all common sense and their collective braincells go flying out the window. toshi spent a whole 7 minutes one time panicking because the tv remote stopped working. 7 minutes. it took him 7 whole minutes before he thought to check if the batteries were dead.
- toshinori is absolutely Dumb And In Love with inko, and he constantly loses his common sense when he talks to her because he just loves her so much. inko is used to this and puts her 1 million braincells to work to make up for her boyfriends idiocy (she finds it endearing that he literally forgets everything because he got distracted by how cute her outfit was, but sometimes it's exasperating like dammit toshi pay attention)
- izuku, once he found out about their relationship, somehow watched these two adults, in a relationship, pine after each other. how does that happen you ask? they just have So Much Love that even when they are dating they still pine
- i'm about to pass out so before i do one last thing—toshi takes inko to nana's grave (not her hero persona's grave, her grave) once they've been together long enough. not only is it a sign of his unwavering trust in her, but also of his vulnerability, and how he allows her to see him at his lowest. inko makes it a point to take flowers to the grave every other week, to show respect to the woman that practically raised toshi and taught him everything he needed to become the best hero ever. she will sometimes sit and talk for a bit, just to thank nana for everything she did as a hero and as a mother figure to toshi
okay i'm going to bed thank you for reading my dumb ship headcanons! yall can pop into my asks and send me your own headcanons anytime! i love hearing what others think! also i love hearing other people talk about my favorite characters too, so never think you're bothering me! until next time friends

I was reading one of your headcanons about toshinori and his biological family and I wanted ask how they might react to meeting him again, after his identity is exposed? But more importantly, how would they react to meeting Izuku? Personally I think it would be really funny if they mistake him as Toshi's son as everyone else seems to do.
- With those headcanons in mind, I think Toshi went years without even thinking about his bio family after cutting them out.  And they didn’t make the connection to All Might, either in heroic or true from.  He looks completely different and they haven’t thought about him in years either.  They probably wouldn’t realize they know him until Toshi’s real name got leaked sometime later.
- If his bio mom was still alive, she’s probably try to re-enter his life as if she didn’t neglect him for most of his childhood and only tried to establish communication for money.  She’d show up at the agency demanding to see her son without warning and bothering the poor front desk workers.  Toshinori isn’t in most days anyway, so he ignores her.
- Then she goes to the media.  She spins som bs tale about how she and her family are struggling while her beloved son thinks he’s too good to even speak to them.  Maybe the dad Might rumors are already in full swing, so she also goes for the angle that he’s denying her the right to see her grandchild.  By the time Toshinori is annoyed enough to dignify it with a response, a lot of people are already on her side.
- Somehow, reporters are able to corner Izuku and ask him about the situation.  He’s naturally confused, as All Might told him that his mother was a hero who died protecting him from a villain.  Toshinori only mentioned family in relation to Nana and Gran, and this is hardly the first instance of some randy claiming to be related to All Might for personal gain.  He’s never been interested in the tabloid side of hero following anyway.
- After a long-overdue talk with All Might, he gets the full picture.  And gets angry.  All Might cut out his bio family for being toxic and neglectful, and they don’t have the right to force themselves back in because they share blood.  He stays and talks to the reporters willingly the next time.  With tears in his eyes, Izuku tells them about his father.  Before, there was a man who breathed fire and hated his son who couldn’t.  He never hurt him physically, but not once said anything encouraging or kind.  Then he fucked off overseas and sent back money out of obligation until he didn’t anymore.  Then Izuku met All Might, and he gave him everything that was missing: support, kindness, enthusiasm for spending time together, and assurance that it was Izuku the person who mattered, not the quirk.  When the man who breathed fire tried to call again, having seen him on tv with a quirk and wanting to tell him how proud he was, Izuku told him not to bother.  He didn’t have time to talk because he was going to spend the day with his father.
- Most mainstream outlets drop All Might from the equation.  They follow the sensationalist train wreck that is the mother and family, before getting bored after a few weeks.  The family gives up on trying to get Toshi, instead trying to cash in on their newfound attention.
- At least one of Toshi’s stepsiblings isn’t awful, and they ask him out to lunch.  They wised up to how awful their mother was and got out themselves.  They talk about their respective lives for a good few hours.  The sibling has kids of their own, and can’t help but ask about Izuku.
“Well, he’s my son of course.”

Toshinko Mafia Au
I legit thought about this when rewatching Zootopia and bits of the Godfather. Btw, no quirks.
Toshi is a cop and he works with Nana, Gran Torino, Hizashi, Emi, and Rei who are on the case to hunt down and arrest a certain mafia leader that is in a decade long duel with Nana.
Inko is daughter of Mafia leader All for One. The same leader that Nana is trying to arrest. She has an older brother, Enji, and people that are involved with the Mafia and are her only friends, Mitsuki, Aizawa, Nemuri. Also Inko and co don’t know that the mafia is a bad thing, they see AFO as a giver that does expect debt to be paid or else consequences will happen.
When Toshi was out on patrol, two mafia members were committing a heist and were about to get away until Gran Torino shot the wheels of the car. The members jumped out the car and let the car keep going. Toshi went off to save a civilian that was about to get run over . The car crushed into a wall while Toshi carried the civilian away. That civilian was Inko. Nana rushed over to Toshi to tell him that she wasn't able to catch the members and neither did the rest of their squad but Rei managed to attach a tracking device on one of the members. Inko thanks Toshi and she is whisked by her friends.
Toshi and Nana’s chat after their meeting with Inko went like this
----
Nana: Toshi?
Toshinori: Yeah?
Nana: I didn’t know you had a thing for green haired women.
----
Though they didn’t know who they really were. Inko didn’t know that Nana was the cop that is after her father. The cops don’t know that Inko is AFO’s daughter.
A few weeks later, Toshi and co are going to infiltrate AFO’s base to arrest him. They believe he will be at his weakness since he is hosting some sort of celebration which means his guard will be down. Little do they know that AFO had a son that is wiling to do anything. The group gets caught just before they reach AFO and are taken to a room where Enji and guards are in. They scene in a nutshell goes like this.
----
Toshinori, Hizashi, Rei, Emi: Enji???
Enji: What?
Toshinori: Man, we haven’t seen you seen high school. What are you doing being involved with the mafia? Don’t you know the mafia is evil?
Emi: I knew you were a tough guy but how did you end up being a leader?
Nana: He’s not, All For One is much older.
Enji: The mafia is not evil you idiots. We are good people who give and take from the people just like the world intended. As for my father, he is elsewhere celebrating. He requested me to deal with unwanted visitors. Clearly I caught people that who have been iced for years now. Of all days you guys had to try to infiltrate to take my old man away from my family. I could be celebrating happily right now but no you all had to interrupt. The nerve of you. Ice them!
Guards: (Opens floor to reveal all the ice)
Cops: (Start shrieking)
Gran Torino: I expected to go out in a gun shooting honestly.
----
The guards are starting to lower Toshi and co into the floor. Emi is making puns about ice to try to calm herself from crying. Enji is just watching. Toshi and Rei are tyring to remind Enji that they are friends and he shouldn’t ice them. Hizashi is crying. Nana and Gran Torino are not phased.
Just then, a familiar green haired girl is dancing into the room and goes over to Enji. The scene basically is this.
----
Inko: Enji, it’s time for the waltz and to cut the cake. (sees that Enji is about to ice Toshi and co) Enji! What did I say about icing people at my birthday!?
Enji: I know I know. But your big bother has to ice them. Father told me to ice any intruders.
Inko: It was bad enough that you and father iced (insert names for the random two mafia members form earlier) yesterday and now you’re icing some clearly innocent people- (sees Toshi) Hey I know you. You’re that cop that saved me.
Enji: What? Toshinori saved you?
Inko: Yes, from the car that nearly ran me over. (faces Toshi) It’s good to see you again, though I never thought I see you again when you’re nearly and unfairly about to iced by my brother on my father’s orders.
Toshinori: I understand I would have liked to have seen you again in a better situation.
Emi: Oh my gosh, I love your dress!
Rei: Emi, now is not the time.
Inko: Thank you. It’s my birthday today and father wanted me to dress up like a princess. He insisted that he would buy me this gown.
Nana: What are the odds that you saved the daughter of All for One, huh Toshi.
Inko: Daddy would will overjoyed to meet that people that saved me. He will have to set you guys free since he said he wants to repay the man that saved me from near death.
----
AFO was not happy that Toshi, of all people, saved Inko. Toshi along with Nana, Gran Torino, Emi, Hizashi, and Rei were on the icing list. Nana was at the top of the list in bold letters. But he promised that he would repay the man that saved Inko for life since he saved his little princess.
AFO, by force, let go of Toshi and co and made a promise to never kill any of them so long as they don't try to arrest him.
----
What are your thoughts on this dumb Mafia au I created?

WIP Game
List the things you’re excited to work on this year in as little or as much detail as you like, and then tag some friends!
Tagged by @enchantedtalisman (and again it won’t tag you. Tch. Sorry. But thanks for the tag!)
(Behind a cut, because you don’t want to read all that. ...Or maybe you do?)
In no particular order, because my level of excitement changes at the drop of a hat: 6 BNHA fics, and one each FFXV and FO4. 1700 words of synopses and babbling.  (Friends who read my stuff: if you wanna skim through these and tell me which one(s) (if any) you’d most want to read, that’d be rad. =D Will it influence what I work on? Who knows? My inspiration is fickle as shit. But it couldn’t hurt.)
1. “Touch2” -- current WIP, 10k + notes. BNHA. Dekumight. Estimated total: 20k?      Picking up right where “Touch” left off, this fic is a slightly more detailed/slow/slice-of-life story than its predecessor. The 10k I’ve written so far takes place over the course of only 2 days, and it’s mostly Toshi and Izuku getting to know each other, and Toshi being yelled at by his manager (an OC called Suzuki). The general plot of the story doesn’t deviate very far from canon, as far as I’ve planned. “Touch2” will probably cover at least up to the entrance exam, but I’m not entirely sure. Given that leisurely pace, there’ll probably have to be a Touch3 and 4 as well, if not even more.       I’ve been slowly hacking away at this one since the start of December, just in between whatever else I might be working on. Kind of got to a point where I need to actually think about what happens next? ^^; Also, it’s gotten too long to be a one-shot, I think, but I’m going to have to be careful how I split it up. It’s not written for splitting… Well, I’ll figure it out. Just gotta keep writing first.
2. “Make the Most sequel, and side stories” -- only notes. BNHA. Dekumight. Estimated total: lots???      I’m lumping these all together, but this includes quite a few stories, some of which I have plans/notes for, some only ideas. One of the first is a fic that might be, at most, half the length of MtM, which is the events of MtM from Toshi’s POV. This was actually requested by a friend, but it was something I kind of already wanted to do, which is cool. Other side stories include perspectives from other characters, some things like dates and vacations, Izuku learning to use his powers, and some extra NSFW scenes, because why not? After all of those, I intend for there to be an ‘official sequel’, taking place towards the end of Izuku’s college run, which might function as more of an epilogue than a sequel, due to the potential lack of actual plot.      Geez there is just so much potential for this series to go on in side-stories and extras and etc. I actually get a little mad at myself whenever I neglect to continue it, because it’s sort of my main, well, IP, I guess you’d say. It’s my kudos breadwinner. XD I should just do it!
3. “Loveless epilogue” -- only notes. BNHA. Dekumight. Estimated total: 7k?      A short...er sequel/epilogue, taking place roughly a year (I might change that) after the main story, revolving (spoiler alert) around Toshi figuring out if/when/how to propose to Izuku, and summing up how things have gone in the past year. Mushy because I love marriage, okay guys, I just love it so much, and also a little bit morbid because of an in-universe tradition that could be considered either romantic or creepy, depending on your views. =D      I actually ought to write this one like… immediately, while the main fic is still fresh in my mind. It’s extremely self-indulgent, maybe more than just, y’know, my normal writing. But I think at least some of the people who read LOVELESS will like it. ^^ And I will, I think. And that’s all that really matters, right?! *shakes head ‘no’*
4. “Waste” -- current WIP, 1k + notes. BNHA. Dekumight(-ish?), and Deku+friends. Estimated total: 15k???? No. Probably more.      A Fallout fusion. Vault 211 (21-1 or twenty-one one) has been carefully breeding superpowers into its population for the past 200 years, but if yours doesn’t show up by your 18th birthday, prepare to be kicked out on your ass into the unforgiving wasteland. Guess who’s the newest resident of the wastes? Lucky for Izuku, he meets a frightening creature who takes to looking out for him. ‘Human’ under some description, he’s sure, this guy has radiation levels through the roof. Burly super-mutant by day, gangly rotting ghoul by night, he doesn’t exactly have a lot of friends, but boy is he good at surviving in the hellscape that the world has become.      I freaking love Fallout a whole lot, and look, Toshi/All Might is so very much a ghoul/super mutant, and vaults just give you so much free reign to give people powers and etc etc, look, it just seemed like something that would work. Not sure really how it’s going to go, but we’ll see. =]
5. “Nana/Toshi darkfic” -- only notes. BNHA. Nana/Toshi (probably NSFW) and Dekumight. Estimated total: 20k???       His mentor was beautiful, kind, strong-- perfect. He didn’t realize she was being eaten away by a dark pit in her heart. He didn’t know if leaving her alone would help it. He just wanted to be with her so badly, to please her, to make that smile real, and she lacked the fortitude to refuse him anything that would make him happy. A fic about Nana and Toshi becoming perhaps too close, and Nana struggling with depression. Following the canon timeline moderately closely, it shouldn’t be a surprise that it will include a major character death, and the fallout surrounding it.      Hoo boy did the desire to write this fic just hit me like a ton of bricks a few weeks ago. This is going to be a dark, sad, uncomfortable story, most likely. And although it will end with Dekumight, the large part of the plot will still revolve around Nana/Toshi, so I’m not sure most of my normal readers will want to touch it. XD;;; I think the inspiration to write this came somewhat from the feeling that the ending to LOVELESS was not nearly as dark as it could have been, haha. Every so often I just want to challenge myself and see how many boundaries I can push. ^^;
6. “Feed” -- only notes. BNHA. Dekumight. Estimated total: 15k?      In a world ruled by a vampiric shadow known as All for One, Izuku’s group has been trying to find ways to fight him. Nearly everyone is of this man’s blood now, since he started handing out powers to gain followers. But it’s said that an artifact of some sort exists still which can give the power to defeat him. Izuku, with the purest blood of his group, is chosen to seek it out. But the artifact is a vampire, the last of AfO’s first ‘children’, frozen and starving after failing to defeat his ‘father’, and Izuku almost doesn’t survive the encounter.      I want to write this fic, and I think I should do it while it’s still cold and gloomy, because that’s the feel of the setting, but if I get distracted and don’t get around to it, I probably won’t be too upset.
7. “Parents AU” -- current WIP, 6k + notes. FFXV. Gladnis + Ignis&Noctis. Estimated total: 40k?       Teenage Ignis and Gladio happen to be babysitting the toddler prince when the Empire attacks, and in the chaos they manage to get safely mixed into the crowd of civilians fleeing the city. They decide to treat him as their own until they can be sure it’s safe to return him to someone with more seniority. But will it ever be safe? Fifteen years in hiding says no, and even when Noct is old  enough to be asked to save the world, there’s no way in hell his parents are going to let him go it alone.       I tried to continue writing this the other day and it was terrible. Painful. I almost cried. Literally every word of the 30 or so I managed before I gave up were the hardest things I’ve ever written. I think if I go back and play the game again (which I’d like to, since there’ve been updates and DLC), I think it will be easier. Honestly though, this is one of my favorite things I’ve yet written, so if I don’t see it to fruition, I will be moderately pissed.
8. “Same Heart” -- current WIP, 30k + notes. FO4. Estimated total: 90k (35k for act 1)      The great synth detective Nick Valentine is recaptured by the Institute, remade and reset. He awakes to his new life underground, unaware that he ever roamed the wasteland-- except for the rare moments when they plug in his old memories so they can grill him for info. Though the memories are gone again after every session, they leave an aftertaste of distrust for the people he’s working with, until it’s too much to ignore. Meanwhile, he finds himself as the only person who seems to truly care about the little boy they’re all calling their savior, doing his best to help him grow up with some modicum of love in this sterile environment. When Nick finally decides to break out of their fancy little prison, it’s not a question whether he’ll take Shaun with him, and it’s obvious where they’ll go: to find the parents the Institute stole him from.      This one haunts me, because I spent like 3 months doing practically nothing but writing this last year. I got almost, almost all the way through the first act (out of 3), and then… stopped. Now I know it’s going to be impossible to get back into. And this is already a very different story for me, because it’s essentially a gen fic. The intention is for acts 2 and 3 to focus on Nick and the ‘sole survivor’ Nora, but the whole first act is about him half-raising her son, Shaun. I really want to finish this, or geez, at least the first act! Because it is painful having 30k sitting around that nobody has ever seen. And it’s pretty decent! But even though I have 6 chapters done, I don’t want to start posting it until it has a halfway decent ‘conclusion’, so I need to finish the act. I have to.
And I’ll tag… uh… @oldseablues, @braincoins, @thenightisdarkandfullofbooty, @orionskingdom, @animeuzumaki7, @blessedblooduniverse, @rangrids, and anyone else who’s reading this and is also a writer. =] Tag me back so I can see it, please! ^^

Twisting Fate
Ao3 | FF.net 1 | 2
Summary: After his last act as a hero, All Might is forced into retirement. Unable to fight. Unable to protect anyone. How does one continue to carry certain burdens when they no longer have the strength to do so anymore. Can the man who's always had criticizing opinions about the No. 1 hero show him that it's okay to let someone help him? Starts post chapter 95 of manga.
Chapter 3: Faith Restored
Toshi watches the car disappear from sight before turning and staring up at the highrise. It reminded him of when he was about Midoriya's age; both of his parents worked abroad and he had no other family to speak of so he lived alone. No dreams or aspirations to speak of since he was quirkless. He'd just been trying to get by the best that he could until he met Nana.
He shakes his head to keep her face from appearing in his mind because he knows that he'll just end up seeing Shigaraki instead. He sends a quick text to Midoriya and then approaches the elevator. The students and their families had already been informed that the teachers would be conducting home visits but he wanted to let the boy know that Aizawa wasn't going to be joining them.
The boy's mother is every bit as timid as Toshi imagined her to be. Where else would Midoriya get it from? The apartment is small, just big enough for the family of two, and he can't help but to relax a little as he's already exhausted of the formal appearances. A serene smile graces the man's face when they walk past Midoriya's room, eyeing the name tag hanging from the door.
He's offered a seat at the table and a moment later is given some tea that he doesn't end up touching. When his mother sits across from him he get's straight to the point. Her face is cheerless as she informs him that she doesn't support the decision. Midoriya looks genuinely surprised but Toshi isn't surprised in the slightest.
He figured that for all Midoriya's fighting and trying his hardest that the boy would have become oblivious to his surroundings outside of school. It was one thing that he constantly disregarded his body and caused so much damage to himself. It was an entirely different matter to disregard the feelings of those who supported you the most, even if it was unintentional. Toshi hoped to help correct that way of thinking.
Toshi listens to her confide her worries and doubts to him, thankful that Aizawa had not pushed the matter to join him for this visit.
Though she might have told her son that she'd allow him to relocate, it's quite obvious that she really has thought about why she doesn't want him to leave. His life would have been so much simpler had Toshi not taken it upon himself to pass One For All to him. Just like the attacks on the school, it all leads back to him. Her worries and fears are his doing. Even still, he doesn't regret choosing Midoriya.
She asks him if he's aware of the state her son's arms are in. Toshi knew that he'd injured himself severely, but he'd not been aware that if he caused any more stress on them that he'd lose the ability to even move them. Even if he didn't have to convince the boy's mother, it's clear to Toshi, that he's failed Midoriya on more fronts than one.
As a citizen, she thanks Toshi for all that he has done. However, as a parent she fears for her son's well being. After witnessing his fight, she doesn't wish to see her son follow that same bloody path that he did. It makes her wonder if maybe he'd be happier if he'd remained quirkless.
Toshi understands her worries, but knows that Midoriya doesn't regret any of the choices he's made. No, they've not been the best ones and for not showing him that sooner, Toshi accepts full responsibility. But to ask if he'd be happier had he remained quirkless made him want to scoff at her laugh. For more than a year he's watched this boy grow and at this point can't imagine anyone better suited to take up the mantle that he's left vacant.
Midoriya surprises them both when he tries to argue his case and the woman asks him to remember what she'd said when the term began; that she'd always be on his side and support him. But that didn't mean she wouldn't worry about him. As the tears well up in the woman's eyes and she looks back at Toshi, he sees the boy finally realize what he hasn't been paying any attention to.
She looks into Toshi's eyes and tells him as clearly and as firmly as she can, that she has zero confidence in the school and cannot trust her son to them. He doesn't blame her for her decision and is quite impressed that she's able to stand so firmly against his proposal. When she's done speaking, that timidness returns. She pulls her hands into her lap and hangs her head.
"If I may-" he begins only to be interrupted.
"Mom you've it all wrong!" Midoriya raises his voice, causing her to squeeze her eyes closed. "My injuries are my fault. I've been told by all my teachers multiple times-"
"And that just further shows me that the school cannot be trusted to be responsible for you, Izuku," she counters sternly.
Toshi turns his gaze to Midoriya and gives him a hard look. "Sit down, boy," he says calmly, waving his hand down.
"I'm okay if you think I'm being overprotective," she admits, drawing the hero's attention. "I don't mean to keep my son from his dream... But if he really wants to become a hero, it's not as though UA is the only place where he can become one."
Toshi sees that Midoriya's eyes are full of fear. He's trying to keep himself from panicking, because what else can the boy do? His mother is adamant about her decision.
Silence falls over the room as Toshi thinks about what he can possibly say to sway her, though nothing comes to mind. He thought maybe, just maybe, he'd be able to do something to help the boy but he's rapidly losing hope. Without warning, Midoriya rushes from the room and Toshi hangs his head, thinking about just how hard this must be for him.
"I'm so sorry, I'll call him back," his mother hastily says as she stands up from her seat.
She barely takes a step before the boy returns, holding something in his hand. "It doesn't have to be UA, mom. But look at this," he says while showing it to his mother. "I saved a boy when the camp was attacked. This is the letter he sent me, saying thank you." He pauses and takes a breath. "Mom, it's my fault that I've made you worry so much and I'm so sorry. But that boy made me his hero, so if it I can't be at UA, fine. But I will become a hero."
Toshi holds his breath as he sees that, once again, there wasn't any reason for him to worry about Midoriya. Just when all seems lost, that boy is able to solve his own problem and that glimmer of light within him grows brighter. He's no longer just some individual chasing after his favorite hero. He intends to reach his long-term goal, even if he has to give up a seemingly childish dream.
With what strength he can muster, Toshi stands from his seat and approaches the mother and son. He strains to maintain his hero form and falls to his knees, bowing before the woman.
"It's my fault that my responsibilities were not prioritized properly and for that, I am truly sorry." He hears the woman let out a small gasp. "I believe that Izuku is worthy of being a successor to my legacy. There is strength and passion in him that I've not seen in a long time and I believe that he will be the next Symbol of Peace."
"What? Wha-what do you mean?" the woman stutters.
Toshi disregards her question and continues. He apologizes for taking advantage of Midoriya's admiration of him, thus neglecting his education. He lets out a shaky breath when he can no longer hold his hero form but remains on the floor. He appeals to her, as a teacher of UA, that he will not allow her son to walk the same path he has.
He genuinely wants to stand with the boy, not just to help him fulfill his dream and become the next Symbol of Peace, but also because in the time that Toshi has been able to spend with him and watch him grow, he's come to care about Midoriya and is proud of how far he's already come.
He understands that there are many uncertainties and insecurities around the school, but he informs with her that the heroes of UA are doing absolutely everything they can to change all of that then pleads with her that instead of looking at the current state of things, look at how they will be different in the future. Even if it's costs Toshi his life, he will protect and ensure her son's success.
He hears the woman sink to her knees, and waits for her to speak. He's practically laid himself bare before her and freezes when she takes a breath to speak.
"I can't... accept that," she sighs. His heart drops to his stomach. "Because you are what pushes Izuku forward."
Toshi's eyes grow wide and he lifts his head to look at the woman. Her eyes, they're just like Nana's. "I don't hate UA," she says softly. "I just want Izuku to be happy. Which is why you have to go on living while protecting and nurturing him to your fullest extent. If you can promise me that, then I won't stand in your way."
Toshi bows his head once more, fighting the sting of tears. "I promise," he whispers. It's done, so now he must make good on it and keep his word.
As Midoriya and Toshi walk downstairs to wait for a cab, Toshi pulls out his phone to see a handful of messages from Aizawa. In the time it took him to visit with Midoriya, the other teacher had already been to five homes. He quickly sends an apology to the teacher and asks where he should meet him. Toshi pockets the device and looks back up at the highrise to see the boy's mother standing outside.
"Your mother," he starts. "She reminds me of my master." He smiles softly at the thought, relieved that
"Huh? My mom?"
"Yeah. She's a strong woman." Toshi feels his phone vibrate and opens Aizawa's message: 'Ashido's family is next. Wait for me if I'm not there.' He bids Midoriya goodbye then gets into the cab, directing the driver to address that Aizawa sent as well.
Aizawa hits the button on his phone and returns it to his pocket, turning back to the father of Uraraka Ochaco.
"I apologize for the interruption. I know that the two of you are pressed for time," he says, bowing his head slightly.
"That's alright, Sensei," the girl's father says with a wave of his hand. "Our daughter's future is far more important to us." Aizawa follows the man's eyes to the kitchen as the girl and her mother return, offering him some tea.
"I take it that your daughter has already spoken to you about the relocation, then?" the teacher inquires.
"She has,"her father answers with a nod. "Listen, I don't really get the whole hero business, but it's something that our girl wants so we support her," he pauses to look at the brunette. "I do get that it's dangerous work, but can you look me in the eye and tell me that you and the other teachers are doing everything possible to ensure the students' safety on campus."
Aizawa doesn't hesitate to meet the man's stern gaze. "The students aren't the only ones relocating to the campus. All UA staff will be required to live on campus as well with a few of us on call each weekend in case of emergencies. That being said, on days off I doubt any of the teachers will be away from the campus for elongated periods of time."
The family sitting across from him are silent for a moment and in that silence, Aizawa notices that Uraraka hasn't said a word yet. To him nor her parents. He realizes that he might have said too much and opens him mouth only to close it when her father speaks again.
"And you believe that this is the best choice for the school to make?"
"If I didn't, I wouldn't be here before you, asking you to trust me with your daughter's future. For the students' safety and quality of education, I believe that this is the most logical course of action."
"Our daughter spoke highly of you, Aizawa-sensei," her mother says. "She trusts you and the other teachers for that matter. She believes that you all are doing you best and we trust in her judgment. Please, watch over our daughter and the rest of the students as well."
Aizawa bows his head to the family. "I will. Thank you for trusting in us." He's said that phrase too many time to count now but each time he's sincere about it.
Since starting their journeys at UA the students have been through much more than he had when he was their age. They've matured some which is evident because with each visit, he's received some sort of praise from the students through their parents. He's never cared much for being praised but it did mean a lot to him that the students were able to accept that even heroes made mistakes and were willing to give them another chance.
After thanking the family once more, Uraraka escorts the teacher to the door and before Aizawa steps through across the threshold he looks back at her. "What is you want to ask, Uraraka?"
Her brown eyes snap up to his as he waits for to speak. "Do you think the entire class will return to school?"
Aizawa offers her a rare smile. "You shouldn't concern yourself with the futures of others, but if I had to guess I'd say that it's likely all twenty of you will be seeing each other in a few days."
He reaches for his phone and messages All Might, telling him that he's on his way to Ashido's home.
After meeting All Might, Aizawa is given a chance to rest as the man takes it upon himself to do a bit of talking for the next several visits. Aizawa is grateful for the chance to rest his voice but was honestly a little surprised to see that All Might's smile was much brighter than it had been earlier.
Just what had been discussed at Midoriya's home? He expected that he'd get through two, maybe three, visits before blonde caught up to him. But in the time All Might had been at the boy's home, he'd visited five homes. He'd decided that after visiting with Uraraka, he was going to wait regardless of how long it took the man. Though he was glad that he didn't end up having to wait and waste time.
By the time they finish visiting all twenty homes and return to the school so that Aizawa can drop off the paperwork, the sun had set. As he locks up his desk, he tells All Might that he really doesn't have to get him a drink. Toshi insists, reminding him that he'd left Aizawa to visit several homes alone while he was with Midoriya. Remembering the favor he'd done for him, Aizawa accepts the offer and leads him to a small steakhouse not far from the school.
The place is pretty empty as the pair finds a corner table to sit at. The restaurant is plainly decorated, the walls painted a muted mint green that was easy on the eyes and had a rather soothing effect. The tables and chairs a dark cherry wood color. Aizawa waves to the woman behind the bar who seems to recognize him. A moment later she comes to the table, placing a beer in front of Aizawa and a water in front of Toshi. Aizawa never orders anything but she leaves a menu on the table just in case his companion wants something as she knows they could end up staying a while if he has more than one drink.
"You really didn't have to come," Aizawa says to him again.
Toshi watches the man run a hand through his tangled hair that he'd let down almost immediately after their last home visit. Aizawa picks up his mug and takes a drink.
"I already said that I'd treat you." Toshi reaches for the menu. "Besides I should probably eat a little something before I sleep tonight."
Aizawa nods and hums in response, thinking that they had been busy for most of the day and hadn't stopped to eat anything. He'd forego telling Recovery Girl about it this time because eating had completely slipped his mind too.
Aizawa asks him about the visit with Midoriya went, guessing that he must have had some trouble since he'd been there for so long. He learns that at first, her decision to not allow her son to continue attending at UA had been resolute. Aizawa didn't blame the woman or her reasoning though he was a tad annoyed that she still found the fault with the teachers that her son was always overdoing things.
"You know," Aizawa begins after finishing the first beer, "he's like you."
Toshi pauses in reaching for the food that had just been placed in front of him and looks up. "What do you mean?" he asks trying to sound as innocent as possible.
Aizawa watches him nibble on a fry, then awkwardly try and cut his burger into smaller, more manageable pieces. Aizawa rolls his eyes and plucks the knife from his hand. "He's too self-reliant," he answers as he cuts the sandwich into quarters. "It's good to be able to stand on your own, but the way he goes about proving that he can do just that is more than a little irritating."
Toshi waits for the teacher to finish his sentence and cut his food before he mumbles a word of thanks. Aizawa nods at the lone waitress as she sets another drink in front of him, then take a generous gulp. "Those kids are lucky," he says, placing the mug back on the table.
Chewing on a small bit from his burger, Toshi notices that aside ever present look of drowsiness in Aizawa's eyes the man looks disappointed. "They are indeed. I doubt there are so many parents such as theirs that would be willing to allow their children to return to a school that's been under fire more than once since April," he adds after swallowing his food.
He pushes the plate away offering it to the man across from him. Aizawa narrows his eyes at All Might and is met with that lackluster smile he'd seen at Bakugou's home earlier in the day.
"I wasn't meaning that, but you are right," he agrees and grabs for a fry. It's probably a good idea for him to eat something with the alcohol.
"Oh?" Toshi asks. "What were you referring to then?" he tilts his head.
"Your retirement, All Might."
Toshi, wide-eyed and confused, look at Aizawa who's straight-faced. Not knowing what to possibly say in response, he looks down at the table. Surely there's more that he has to say. Aizawa always has a reason for saying what he does.
Aizawa takes another drink. "Almost the entire fight was broadcast. There are countless videos as well." He pauses, waiting to see some kind of reaction from the blonde. "I know that a group of students were present that night."
Toshi recalls the sight of Midoriya, Iida, and Kirishima as they opened they way for Bakugou to escape. He'd already scolded Midoriya for his recklessness but the others had received no such thing. Just what was Aizawa planning to do?
As through reading his mind Aizawa answers the unasked question. "I would have expelled them. The five of them and the other twelve students who were aware of what they were thinking."
Toshi can only sigh. It seems like a harsh punishment, but it would be a fitting one. "You would have every reason to do so. The rules for acting as a hero exist for a reason. So what are you going to do instead?" He reaches for his water as Aizawa does the same to his drink, finishing it and waving for a third.
He pushes his hair from his face and let's out a frustrated sigh. "There shouldn't even be another option for punishment but..."
Aizawa sucks in a breath, unable to keep himself from admiring those striking blue eyes as All Might rests his arm on the table and leans into the conversation. "But what?" he prompts with a whisper.
Aizawa glances around to see that the other handful of patrons had started to look in their direction. "I hate to see potential such as theirs go to waste," he mutters just loud enough for his companion to hear him. "Because of that, this is the only chance they're getting from me. I'll let your retirement be a reminder to them that their actions have consequences, even if they aren't the one's to pay the price."
Toshi smiles sadly as Aizawa picks up another fry and takes tiny bites from it. He knew that retirement was imminent and inevitable when he returned here to find a successor that he could entrust One For All to. To think that his stamina had lasted even this long amazed him. But in the eyes of the world, and apparently his co-workers, the retirement was going to take a minute for them to wrap their heads around.
"Dammit.." Toshi returns his attention to the man across from him and sees that his arms are folded on the table and his head is buried between them. "...Mic's fault...alk a lo..." he mumbles but Toshi can't make out any of what he says.
"You're mumbling Aizawa," he teases, amused by this unfamiliar side of the stoic teacher.
Aizawa huffs in response and lifts his head. "I said that it's Mic's fault I talk a lot when I drink. It's always been his way of getting me to talk. Sorry."
"There's no need to apologize, though we should both probably get home and rest," he suggests.
Aizawa hums in agreement, thinking that he's had just enough to drink so that he'll pass out when he gets home. The principal also informed them that movers would be stopping by tomorrow to help the teachers relocate to campus ahead of the students, so he had all that to take care of as well. He reaches for his wallet only to see that All Might had flagged down their waitress and given her his card.
"You really didn't have to do that," he says and hangs his head so that his hair covers his face that's flushed from the drink and embarrassment.
"Think of it as my way of saying thank you, Aizawa. After all, I'm sure Recovery Girl must have put you up to something for you do agree to us sharing a flat on campus."
Aizawa merely shrugs. "Just to check up on you and make sure that you're eating a little something here and there. If you ask me, I think she intends on tailing you once classes resume just to make sure," he chuckles.
Toshi thanks the waitress when she returns his card then sets a takeout box and bag on the table. Aizawa helps him put the leftover food inside then loosely ties the bag closed and hands it to him. Outside the restaurant, they bid each other goodnight and head in opposite directions one final time before they move into their new home.

Toshinori and Nana and One for All
So I??? Invented a backstory for All Might, how he grew up, developed his ideals, met Nana and turned into the hero we all know and love. It's like, 100% made up but I adhered to canon events as best I could. I'm so stoked to hear more about Nana, Torino and young Toshi but until then, here's my dumb thoughts
- Toshinori Yagi was born in the United States, as American as Apple Pie. I personally am liking him being from the American Mid-west, I'm thinking like Kansas (like Clark Kent). I want him to be from a decently sized city but still with that Heartland feel. Toshinori is half Japanese on his father's side (hence his surname, Yagi) but takes after his American mother more with his blond hair and blue eyes. Despite the name and some Asian features, he's not involved with his culture at all. I'm playing with the idea that Toshinori wasn't his birth name growing up in American. Not sure yet but I'm liking the idea of a similar sounding name that people in Japan had problems pronouncing so they just started calling him Toshi which stuck. Once he was more settled in Japan, he changed it to Toshinori. Still working on that.
- Anyway, Toshinori had a good, nice American childhood with loving if maybe distant parents. He grew up on a small farm with his parents, which he both loved and hated because well farm but also he enjoyed the atmosphere and freedom. I see him as being a good, smiley kid with a strong sense of right and wrong. The hero situation is different back when he was a kid, less structured and more like vigilantism. I feel like Toshi would like the idea of heroes as a kid but it's never a big passion. The organized hero biz is still in it's infancy so it's not as big a deal. He, like Izuku, receives trouble for his quirklessness but it's not a big issue for him, he's ok with it as it's a little more common. Anyway, he's happy until, suddenly and tragically, he's orphaned at a young age maybe like 8
- Yeah, typical hero origin. He's got no other family and is shipped off to a city orphanage that just isn't cutting it for him. He takes to the streets, making his own way and learning how to survive on his own. But Toshinori has a heart of gold, he's always helping out others street kids, defending them from bullies, giving out his meager supplies. It's here he really sees how weak and defenseless he is without a quirk and works twice as hard to compensate. He is angry about what happened to him, feeling disillusioned about the state of the world and wanting to better it but he never lets it dim his inner goodness. Despite being a good kid, he becomes bitter about his situation and the so called heroes who aren't doing anything to help these kids. He hates the state of the world but wonders what a quirkless orphan like him can do.
- Years pass and Toshi is now like 10-11 when his life changes forever. Like another quirkless boy will do in the future, there's an incident (I'm feeling a fire in the abandoned building Toshi and his street kids have been squatting in?) where Toshinori rushes in without thinking while cops and heroes stand outside and make no moves to help for some reason. He's trying to save these kids and it seems they'll all die right there when a woman bursts in and tells them it's alright because she is here. She saves all of the kids and smiles down with admiration at the awestruck blond boy. Toshi hasn't liked heroes for a while, but after his first meeting with Nana he is amazed. He's not the only one, Nana saw so much raw potential in Toshinori. When she hears of his situation she can't leave him be. She's a mother as well as a hero and she's already a little smitten with a smart-ass street kid with a heart of gold. She offers to train him and he accepts. She vaguely thinks he might be a candidate for One for All but, at this stage, she's not thinking of a successor.
- Nana is native Japanese but she's a travelling hero. She believes a hero is supposed to be more than someone who punches bad guys, they should be someone who smiles and makes the world a happier place. Despite her incredibly power, she's not much of a fighter. She'd much rather rescue and inspire than exchange blows as she's such an open pacifist. She loves her husband as they work together to make the world a better place. She returns home frequently to see her husband and child and they have a good relationship despite her being gone so much. Also for some reason I hc her husband as a quirkless hero because I do. It's during one of these trips she finds Toshinori and basically adopts him.
- She and Toshi travel for a few months during this time they grow incredibly close. He calls her master but it's clear to everyone they're developing a mother/son bond. Her family and friends are taken aback that she's taken this reckless, not-powered kid under her wing. They all ask if she intends to give him One for All and she laughs it off that she's just helping Toshi out. Toshi himself, while very respectful of Nana, is a little bit of a delinquent. He's used to being completely independent and hasn't had the best education since being on the streets, he can be rude and surly, getting into fights with people he think are in the wrong and generally being kind of a brat. Nana mostly lets him work his issues out but she does stop him when he's gone too far or is in danger.
- After travelling a bit of the US and Europe, Nana gets the news that her husband has died in battle with All for One trying to get to her. She is devastated and tells Toshi she needs to return to Japan and probably stay there for a while, Toshi agrees to go with her. Once home, she puts her child into foster care out of desire to protect them. It nearly breaks her but one thing that holds her together is Toshi. Having him there, with his spirit and big heart, keeps her going. She feels incredibly guilty, as if she's trading one child for another. For the first time she properly considers Toshi as an heir for OFA which she'd kind of ignored out of desire to protect him from that fate. But now she feels she can't justify keeping him around (since she gave up her child to "protect them") unless she's planning on passing her power. She's torn but decides to tell Toshi about OFA, he's surprised but takes to it. He agrees to take the power when the time comes, she delays the transfer as she's not "ready to retire" but also to try and give him more time in case he changes his mind. She knows she's sentencing him to a hard life of brutal fights, that'll most likely kill him.
- Toshi is enrolled in Japanese Middle School while his training increases to prepare him for OFA. It's during this time he meets Gran Torino who is initially very antagonistic towards Toshi and thinks he isn't worthy. Toshi has trouble adjusting to Japanese life, not to mention not knowing the language and culture. He gets into lots of fights and really gains a perspective on how the world is. He comes up with the idea that the world needs a hero to serve as a pillar, an example that heroes and citizens can rally behind. Hearing this, Torino begins to change his mind on Toshi and starts working more with Nana to train him. Like his friend, he begins to develop a soft spot for the cheeky American. Nana meanwhile has put some distance between herself and Toshi, trying to be more of the mentor than the mother. She doesn't deserve to have another chance with a child and, besides, it'll only hurt more when he takes OFA.
- He graduates middle school after about a year. He has a bit of record and not the best grades but he finally has a clear vision of what he wants to be as a hero and has adjusted to living in Japan. Nana wants him to go to UA, the best hero school in the country. Toshi and Torino think it's time to pass on OFA so he get into the hero class and begin working towards his dream. Nana is still unhappy about putting this boy she cares for deeply in that kind of danger (since AFO is still out there waiting for her) and proclaims he's not ready yet. He's admitted to the UA General Department on Nana's recommendation, since his grades weren't the best. This puts him at odds with a lot of the other students, especially once it gets out that he's a quirkless student aiming for the hero department.
- Nana isn't quite a teacher at UA but works out of the school to do her hero work but she stops travelling and operates solely in Japan. She and Torino continue to train Toshi hard in both fighting and smarts and he becomes quite the force to reckoned with. He doesn't have a lot of friends, due to his intense, slightly abrasive personality but he still has Nana and Torino and that's enough. He does become friends with Naomasa Tsukauchi who remains a lifelong friend and grows up to be a detective. As his first term at UA concludes, he begins to wonder if Nana will ever give him OFA. He begins to doubt himself, doubt all the praise and assurances Nana has given him. He believes she doesn't think he's worthy but really she's not ready to put him in danger. This slowly starts to put a wedge in their relationship.
- All for One starts to move again and Nana is out for blood. This man killed her husband and made her give up her biological child. She tries to keep Toshi out of it and search for AFO on her own. This upsets Toshi who, again is feeling worthless and like Nana doesn't think he's good enough. This builds up until finally everything explodes out, they're both yelling and screaming and nothing really gets resolved because neither is willing to open up about what's really bothering them (Toshi and his insecurities, Nana and her protectiveness). The fight has upset Nana and it's during this time she finds AFO who approaches her seeing how off kilter she is. A huge fight ensues and Nana takes serious hits. AFO breaks her with his powers and with his words, breaking her will slowly but surely. She fights valiantly, trying to stay alive long enough to get back to the others and apologize and pass on OFA. But AFO is trying to end her now, knowing she hasn't passed on her quirk yet. He mortally wounds her and walks away knowing she doesn't have much time left.
- Toshi and Torino hear the commotion of this fight and know Nana has to be involved. Toshi, against Torino's warnings, rushes in trying to find Nana. He is so concerned for his mentor and angry that their last words had been an argument. He comes and finds her barely alive in the wreckage. He's trying to help, crying and doing all she can to save her. She's too wounded to say the things she wants to say, instead she uses her dwindling strength to try and put her blood into his mouth. Toshi is too upset at the time note the significance of the action when she dies shortly afterwards. Torino comes across Toshi crying over his mentor's body.
- They take away Nana's body and bury her in a private ceremony. She wasn't a well known hero at all, partially because she travelled so much and also because she wanted to keep a low profile. It's only later does Torino consider if Nana had been able to pass on OFA, but it's unclear if Toshi has actually swallowed enough of her blood. Toshi falls into a depression having lost someone he had been immensely close to, he takes a leave of absence from school and seems lost. It's only when he activates OFA on accident that he realizes that his teacher and his dream aren't gone yet. He's still broken up over her death, always will be, but if he stops now then her death and her faith in him will be wasted. He and Torino train hard for the next few months and come next term, he's easily able to register for the hero course. Torino becomes a teacher  and trains the hell out of Toshi, he's fired for being too tough but by that point Toshi has immense control of his power and can move forward on his own.
- So Toshi was taken in by Nana around 10-11, travelled then came to Japan around 12, went through Japanese middle school and started at UA as a General student around 13-14. Nana died/passed OFA onto him around 15 or so
- To most people, All Might just came out of nowhere. UA seems to heavily emphasize the hero classes with not a lot of attention on the other sections. I feel like our Toshi would have been rather infamous in the General Department (maybe even going under a different name) but none of the other sections really knew about him so they didn't make the connection to the troublemaking, quirkless General student to the strong, powerful prodigy. Once he rose through the ranks in UA, he really developed his hero persona. A lot of his personality is an act, but not all. He does genuinely care for people and wants to save everyone but he puts on a big, blustery show to make people smile and reigns in his more reckless and ideological impulses in order to try and set a good example. He'll mostly deny it, but much of All Might's personality is faked with only the core elements truly belonging to Toshi.
- Toshinori decides to use all of his experiences to become the kind of hero he wants to see in the world: he thinks of his American upbringing, he thinks of the anger he felt at indifferent heroes only in it for the money and power, he thinks of how sad he was at the loss of so many people and how important a life is, he thinks about how the world needs a symbol to look up to, he thinks of Torino's tough love training that made him strong, he thinks of how Nana thought it was so important to smile and present a strong but reassuring front to the world. He chooses the name All Might because he swears to protect the people of the world with "All of his Might". He puts on a bright costume and an even brighter smile and he makes his debut and swears that he will achieve his goal for Nana and he will avenge her murder if it's the last thing he does. At this time, AFO does not know that Toshi has OFA (and he doesn't learn until much Toshi has grown in power and is able to deal a devastating blow to AFO)
- Years and years later, after many tragedies and triumphs, Toshi runs across a quirkless boy who loves heroes but doesn't have the power to be one himself. He smiles at the boy's spirit, at his astounding amount of compassion and perseverance, and offers his power to him. He has no way of knowing that, many years ago, Nana had looked at him with the same loving eyes. He doesn't quite understand that the pride and warmth he feels for Izuku is close to the feelings that Nana once held for him. Only when he furthers his training, and his bond, with Izuku does he start to properly understand his mentor and why she did what she did. It makes her seem close to him again and that alone is worth everything he has endured. He still hasn't told Izuku because he doesn't want to scare the boy with all that death talk and Toshi is very guarded and not one to open up on something so very personal. Maybe someday he'll tell his student about his wonderful teacher and how she made him into a hero.
