Since you’ve been doing a fair amount of Batman posting, mind if you list your favorite members of the Gotham Rouges?

Okay. I’ll list about 10 of my faves, though we’ll be counting backwards here.

Also I'll be listing the variations of my faves whom I like the most to make things clearer.

Number 10. Poison Ivy (B:TAS) - If we're talking about character alone, this is the blueprint for literally every present day version of Poison Ivy, however this specific incarnation of the character has aged pretty well. She's every bit the dangerous eco-warrior that she makes herself out to be and will gladly turn someone into a tree for bulldozing a forest, but there is still a level of humanity to her character much like half the villains in the show.

Number 9. Mr. Freeze (B:TAS & Batman Beyond) - I feel like this is a "to the surprise of absolutely nobody" moment, but come on! Mr. Freeze here not only was made into a more tragic character compared to his early comic counterpart, but he actually had a whole arc across the entirety of B:TAS which ended at Batman Beyond. Victor Fries was a scientist trying to save his wife, Nora, from a rare disease, so he put her into a cryopod to preserve her until he found a cure. Then he and Nora were almost killed, but Nora was still kept on ice, while Victor got turned into a literal cold hearted monster. Even after Nora was finally cured, Victor was forever unable to be with her due to his own condition worsening to the point where he was just a head in a jar, angry with the world. A couple of decades later, and he is given a new body by the Wayne Powers CEO, Derek Powers, and while things were finally going well at first and Victor was reforming as soon as he had the chance, things went horribly wrong again, resulting in Victor dying as Mr. Freeze. I may have missed some details here, but yeah that's a summary of this sad ice man.

Number 8. Dr. Crane/Scarecrow (Nolan Trilogy) - Crane wasn't a big villain in the grand scheme of the trilogy, but my god Cillian Murphy does a great job with the character. Like I wish that his supervillain outfit wasn't just a bag over his face, but Scarecrow manages to be quite the dangerous loon with a mask of sanity in Batman Begins, an active member of the underworld in The Dark Knight, and the guy actively sending folks to their deaths in The Dark Knight Rises. Could we have had more of him? Yes. Did he use up his screen time well? Absolutely. Though his fear toxin could've been infinitely wilder.

Number 7. The Phantasm (B:TAS but movie) - The Phantasm is the literal best darker counterpart to Batman a lot of levels.

Number 6. Harley Quinn (B:TAS yet again) - The minor side villainess turned breakout character of the show. If anyone has seen B:TAS and then seen the rest of the media she's in, then you know why this is the best version of her. A good amount of things about the character being based around her actress (R.I.P Arleen Sorkin), her interactions with half the cast, Peak HarIvy content, the best representation of how bad her situation with her abusive ex was, and the perfect mixture between being a not-so-great-person and a precious lil' thing who deserves better.

Number 5. Harvey Dent, Two-Face, & The Judge (B:TAS) - The first well developed Two-Face, and the definitive. I mean he was never a bad villain, but the character was never utilized to the fullest like he was in B:TAS. Harvey Dent was a good guy with an other half that was the literal manifestation of his bottled up anger, an anger that turned into something else entirely after the left side of his face got blown off. Now Harvey and his other half start their own crusade to eradicate organized crime by taking it over from within. In other words, Two-Face here wanted to originally wanted to achieve something good through something bad, and yes a lot of it is due to a fair coin flip. However Harvey began to disagree with some of the shit his other half was getting up to, and as a result developed a third personality that was so separate from both himself and Two-Face that it tried killing both of them and, by extension, himself. This third entity would end up being The Judge, a ruthless, wraith-like vigilante with a judge's attire. So after being detained in Arkham for good, all three Harvey's are literally stuck with each other, and in a spin-off comic set directly after that whole situation with The Judge, Two-Face was given another double headed coin that would constantly come up on the "good side," and spent a lot of time dismantling his criminal enterprise, before doing (another) suicide attempt. This take on Two-Face was something else.

Number 4. Oswald Cobblepot (Gotham) - If I were to list everything that this smug snake has done, along with some of the shit that happened to him, we'd be here all day. However, this is the most well characterized iteration of The Penguin that we've ever had, in my humble opinion.

Number 3. Catwoman (Batman Returns) - I'm dying on this hill gentlemen. Despite not being... anything like her comic counterpart, outside of name, confidence, etc, Michelle Pfeiffer's Selina is something great in her own right.

Number 2. The Riddler (The Batman 2022) - Turning the Riddler into a a catholic, terrorist, cult leader that looked up to a young and angry Year-Two Batman, while also keeping the core elements of his character the same is something I'll never stop praising. He's still intelligent, he's still creative, he's still on the verge of breakdowns when his ego is badly damaged, etc.

Number 1. The Joker (B:TAS & Batman Beyond) - This is a "to the surprise to absolutely nobody" moment, though in this case I cannot be blamed. B:TAS understood the assignment and provided the definitive iteration of The Joker, completely inspired by his early comic appearances and some elements from Jack Nicholson's take on the character. An ex-mafiosi turned Clown Prince of Crime that lives to only spread misery across Gotham in the most creative way possible with a smile on his face. That was the idea that Paul Dini and Bruce Timm ran with when conceptualizing this bastard, and they just explored the concept for all its worth. Not only that, but this was the first time that Mark Hamill ever voiced this bastard, and it was just perfect casting. Overall, nostalgia got me to re-examine this take on the character, and I can easily say that without a doubt, this is the best Joker.

I’m gonna rank the couples in The Lunar Chronicles and explain why because I’m immensely bored I apologize in advance. And also just because it’s in a lower position doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing like there are only 4 spots-

Also SPOILERS FOR THE SERIES-

4th PLACE

WOLFLET- it’s the whole alpha thing that caused this I’m sorry like they need a lil more screen time and a lot less calling each other alpha. But I did really love them just not in the book Scarlet. I loved them in Cress and Winter when they were separated and it was just immense amounts of pining and I think they’re the most solid/loyal couple in the series like they’d do anything for each other and I love that. Honestly they’re a top tier couple and I wish we got more time with them like SOSN was peak because we got to see them being domestic and like adjusting I loved it. If they were put up against most other couples then they’d win I swear

3RD PLACE

CRESSWELL-these two were almost in 4th actually cuz they’re one of my least favourite tropes where it’s like “experienced suave guy who’s so hot and elite and older” and like “naive girl who’s never left her house and this is in fact the first human she’s spoken too” but somehow they made it enjoyable like I loved how she was like his sight in Cress and how well they work together. He also helps her come out of her shell and know her worth. I also love the fact that he’s a slut in recovery. They’re also the funniest couple and they also had the most slow burn which I enjoyed and I loved their ending. They’re very fun and again in any other circumstance in other list they’d be higher up (I also don’t like that Thorne’s 20+ and she’s 16 like it’s a lil weird-)

2ND PLACE

JACINTER-ok I’m kinda sad I put them in second and not first but yeah they’re my babies. They’re the best amalgamation of tropes I’ve ever seen like they’re childhood best friends to lovers, they’re forbidden love, they’re sun x moon (LISTEN HEAR ME OUT ON THIS), they’re grumpy x sunshine. I also love how much they genuinely adore each other and fight for each other to be safe as much as possible. They also have immense amounts of chemistry and tension in every scene they’re in. I also love that even though Winter is obviously the most vulnerable one in the relationship it doesn’t feel like he’s constantly doting on her like it feels equal like she doesn’t feel like a child being taken care of because of her mental health. I could talk about them hours like the pining the immense pining and the way they talk about and to each other it’s so beautiful like I miss them sm and they’re not popular enough like they’re the cutest I also have a headcanon that when they both move to Earth Jacin eventually retires from being her bodyguard and goes to medical school and they get to grow old somewhere where it always snows.

1ST PLACE

KAIDER- I love them they’re my favourite book couple ever actually like they’re like the first couple I ever genuinely shipped. And they were perfect in EVERY BOOK LIKE I WAS STRAPPED ON THIS TRAIN WITH THEM THEYRE SO ENDEARING AND PERFECT. Like ugh I genuinely had no notes on them for like bad stuff that I didn’t like. Like as I’m typing I’m think of criticism??? They’re so loyal to each other it’s makes me wanna BAWL AND THEYRE SO IN LOVE IT JUST YES. One of the main reasons I love them is because we had the two of them for so long like in Cinder it was only two POVs (if you don’t count Dr. Erland) and we got to see how they felt constantly and they’re such lil idiots and I love them like they’re it. I also love how much they compliment each other and bring out the best parts in the other if that makes sense like Kai learns a lot from her.They did almost lose to Jacinter tho and it came VERY CLOSE

Hey, I'm working on my Cooliver fic. Do you have a list of episodes that are best to rewatch to get their personalities and dynamics?

okay first of all i’m honored that you thought to ask me. second of all, i’m sorry i took forever to reply but i realized i didn’t have a list so i put one together lol

the otto motto (s1 e18) is the first time the idea of oliver being gay is mentioned

the walk (s1 e 20) is sooo important for cooper. first time we see his real personality instead of just his cool kid facade. also iirc this is the first appearance of “move on to your next point”

boo-who? (s2 e5) is pretty good for early oliver. it’s got his sass, some insecurities, a touch of scheming and ofc his iconic scream. cooper’s not in it tho.

blondetourage (s2 e11) is so iconic for them. the sneakers, the phone scheme. “i’m already riding bitch on your vespa.”

all coupled up (s2 e17) is their first big fight, so if you’re writing a fight/argument this is a good one. also some good cooper & katie moments.

it’s hard to say goodbye (s2 e19) is another one without cooper, but if you’re writing sad oliver this is such a good reference; he’s really well written and acted in this episode. the cgi tears take me out tho 😭😭

here we go again (s3 e2) has them work through conflicts and like resolve a fight without intervention from katie/greg. i love them <3. absolutely banger episode for each of them individually, and them as a duo.

enemies: an otto story (s3 e4) has a good oliver scheme, and he gets cooper in on it. cooper talking about tagging along to boarding school with him makes me feel things.

trust me (s3 e5) is the absolutely iconic scooby-doo halloween costumes/making out practice episode that every cooliver writer has written about. i think it’s the first time cooper is seriously brought into the whole “oliver might be gay” bit, but i might be wrong about that (i know cooper’s mentioned the first time it’s ever brought up, but i think this is the first time he really seems like a piece of the puzzle)

body image (s3 e6) again, no cooper, but very good for insecure oliver

mo’ money, mo’ problems (s3 e13) is also so iconic in my brain. idk how genuinely important it is to either of their development, but it means a lot to me. i can’t remember who it was, but someone on here posted a really good analysis of cooper in this episode and how he’s lying to try to get oliver to not go to the party, which could be useful depending what you’re writing. also this is the first time cooper calls katie and greg mom and dad :(

insta-friends (s3 e16) is another big fight for them, and also some serious cooper daddy/mommy issues. this one isn’t super helpful for individual oliver, but it’s great for individual cooper and their dynamic when they’re mad at each other

field trippin’ (s3 e20) is a much sillier, fluffier episode than a lot of what i have on this list. silly lil scheme gone wrong. cooper’s really only in the first like half of this one tho

a mom’s parade (s3 e22) ok so hot take i don’t really like this episode that much… you can do you is very queer coded tho so it’s going on the list lol

girls’ night out (s4 e6) is just so awesome. oliver’s really sweet towards the end, and it’s bcuz of cooper. cooliver/triplor double date mention!!! tiny touch of cooper angst. greg implying that cooper holds a similar role in the family to trip. just all of it is so perfectly cooliver. this is one of their best episodes imo

hip to be square (s4 e9) is the i love you episode!!!!!!!!!!!! them fighting and then saying they love each other!!!!!!!!!!! so interesting for their dynamic!!!

a very english scandal (s4 e14) is the one where the whole school thinks oliver is gay. the one time cooper denies being oliver’s boyfriend. overall very gay episode.

all is fair in love and war reenactment (s4 e17) is a good one for them supporting each other, but not enabling each other’s shitty behavior. really good for their dynamic, and cooper’s got some good layers in this episode

senior prank (s4 e18) ohhhhh they’re such big brothers in this one i love it so much. if you wanna write them as parents this might be a decent reference. also, not cooliver related but franklin is just so iconic in this.

vacation! (s4 e19) i’ve said it before and ill say it again: this episode feels more like a cooliver fic than an actual episode. so good for both of them as individuals, their dynamic as a couple, and how cooper fits into the otto family as a whole.

prom (s4 e20) is another one that i think is good for oliver as an individual and their relationship as a pair. also big brother cooper crumbs!! (they’re very small but they’re there and they’re important to me 😌)

graduation (s5 e1) is ofc so good if you’re writing some angst. seeing how they deal with issues involving them that seem out of their control. also more cooper fitting into the family as a whole <3

psych (s5 e2) is really good for later-seasons oliver and his need for validation. also supportive bf cooper :)

coupling (s5 e3) is the episode i show ppl if i want to get them into the show bcuz it gives such a good overview of all of the characters and their relationships with each other. more cooliver fighting if you need references for that. the couple coding in this episode is so intense.

kids these days (s5 e5) is sooooo good for their dynamic bcuz it really shows how they support each other without enabling each other. i love cooper so much in this episode. “our family” <3

mother’s little helper (s5 e6) is pretty good. shows off that no matter how much they’ve grown, they’re still just dumb teenage boys.

encourage, discourage (s5 e8) is soooo good for cooper fitting into the family as a whole.

the heist (s5 e9) chef cooper origin!!!!! oliver being a supportive bf!!! i love them!!!

getting frank with the ottos (s5 e10) is a big turning point in their relationship. once again, supportive bf oliver!! they’re so cute.

the election (s5 e13) i feel like their dynamic is a little bit weird in this episode (oliver’s like weirdly chill abt once again being confronted w the idea of cooper moving, but ig it’s bcuz he has his own stuff going on) but it’s so good for sad cooper/daddy issues cooper. this is definitely a huge one for cooper angst references

okok so this is a really big list. obvs i don’t know what the plot of your fic is or when it’s set, so some of these might be much more helpful than others depending what you’re writing. these are just my suggestions of the ones that stand out as important for them as individuals and as a duo. hope this is helpful!!!! i’m excited to read your fic if/when you post it :)

Draw I have been drawing literally since I was in diapers but I started taking it seriously when I was 9 so I have drawn almost every day of my life for 13 years and I'm very proud of my progress ❤ drawing makes me happy, it makes me want to try something new every day and my dream is to one day be able live from my art, make merch and go to events with my own stand like all those incredible artists on IG

Fanfics I'm a very picky person lmao and it's not easy to like something so do you know how satisfying it is to find a good fic to read and have me fantasize about it even when I'm not reading?? I LOVE finding a good fic that exceeds my expectations and even better with a good ending and when the author captures the essence of the characters (I feel that I still have to improve that aspect in my own fics, I don't feel that I still capture the essence of some characters well but it is because I'm a very perfectionist lol).

My lil sister She is my only best friend lol I seriously love her so much, I love my family in general but she has been the best gift my parents could have given me she is literally the only "I'm going to love you to death" person I will have in my entire life.

Go traveling! One of the pleasures of life for me is going on a trip, until now I have never left my country but I love it when I can disconnect for a couple of days from my routine in the city and go out to such beautiful places, it doesn't matter if I already know them or they are new. Actually, in 2 weeks I'll be out of city for the weekend so I can't handle happiness!

Gyutaro Ofc Mr. Shabana could not be missing from this list lol. It's true that he is my favorite KNY character, I love his theme, his development and backstory, but my love for him goes beyond that. Maybe it sounds very stupid but when I saw Gyutaro I had a connection with him and he gave me comfort that no other character had given me. His story is in some ways very similar to mine (such as the parallelism he has with Tanjiro and Nezuko) so I identified with him very strongly from the beginning, we have some things in common and he has even helped me with my self-esteem, I suffer from acne so all my life since I was 11 I have had spots or scars on my face and body that I have always hated and they made me feel less pretty but when I got into this whole thing of being his fan I LOVED every part of this man and his marks...ufff they are 100/10 so if I see his beautiful, why not mine? I love what a great big brother he is, he helps me feel better when I'm sad and he's the best comfort character I've ever had, it's like he's my fucking babysitter and he's done an excellent job. I would do anything to make him exist and give him a very, very tight hug and tell him how incredible he is (even if I ended up with one of his sickles stuck in my chest lol but I would die completely happy). I really, really love him so much 💚

Oooooh, this is going to be a long one.. I always thought that my view of the South Park characters were pretty boring so here are my first impressions:

Kyle broflovski

Sexuality Headcanon: I personally think he’s straight, I feel like I’ll get a lot of shame because of this but I never really saw him as a bisexual man let alone a gay man😭 I’m so sorry. But on one hand I do kind of see him being a Demisexual? I don’t know if there is really that much evidence to it but I feel like him being Demisexual. I can also see Asexual Kyle too? I think he’s straight but definitely not allo.

Gender Headcanon: I think he’s a cis man, but trans boy Kyle sounds like a good headcanon? It mostly rooted from Cartman’s sexist jokes but it sounds pretty cool, I’m down for more trans rep! Even if it’s from canonically cis characters..

A ship I have with said character: Kybecca is so fuckwg cute !!!!!!! The way Kyle guides her into relationships was adorable. I also like the dynamic of a shy awkward inexperienced-in-relationships girl and a nice (a genuinely nice) guy who helps her out when it comes to relationships!!! Fucking blorbos.. I want to hold them around like 2 little kittens :( I also really see the potential in Kychole and I wish it got more recognition, it would’ve been an actually great chance for him to get a girlfriend, fuck you Cartman, like honestly.

A BROTP I have with said character: It’s probably going to be Style, of course. Their friendship is honestly very cute to watch, but it can also get a bit sad at times (ex: assburgers). I also like Tokyle, Kyutters, and Kybe as a brotp. Tolkien and Kyle being mom best friends, looking over at their insane children fighting like little chihuahuas, while talking about mom things.. hwoedhsj. And also Kyle and Bebe being best friends gossiping to each other and spilling the tea (this wasn’t my idea though). I’m a bit stuck towards Kyutters though, cause I only thought of it just now.

A NOTP I have with said character: I used to like this ship A LOT, but now I have to say it’s Kyman. I can still see the potential in One sided Kyman and I always saw it being a thing somehow, but that’s as far as I’ll go for this ship nowadays. Kyman just feels weird, and all it took was a couple of callout posts for me to eventually lose interest in it.

A random headcanon: Kyle is the most simplest guy EVER. His music taste isn’t a specific genre and it all goes down to “well I like music as long as it sounds good”. He doesn’t like a specific type of food and is just like “I like any food as long as it’s good”. He’s the least fashionable and most distasteful guy in town, and his friends (the main 4 ofc) attempted to try and get him into fashion and introduce him to different kinds of genres (whether it be music, movies, or whatever) to see which one he’d consider to be his favorite. But it NEVER worked out, he’s just that boring. (Yeah, I’m projecting onto him, what about it)?

General Opinion over said character: He’s honestly such a well developed character, he’s not exactly my fave but I can definitely understand his popularity and place in this fandom! He’s just a lil guy :)

Stanley marsh

Sexuality headcanon: I think he’s either straight or bisexual, but all I know is that he definitely went through a bicurious phase. Remember how confused he was when Wendy turned out to be trans? He was also confused about Tweek and Craig’s whole relationship! He doesn’t know where he stands on the LGBT spec but he’s still trying to figure it out.

Gender headcanon: I only thought of this just now but demiboy Stan. I also like to think he’s experimenting with his gender, and it goes down to the examples I listed trying to describe his sexuality from my perspective. He’s open to people using any pronouns on him, and I love that for him :)

A ship I have with said character: Stendy, I remember drawing Stendy A LOT over here. I still love their relationship but not as much as I used to. Although, I have to say that I still yearn for their good ol’ girlboss and malewife dynamic.. I would also consider Stolkien because their current relationship reminds me of a forbidden romance, it’s honestly interesting to look at it that way. I like to think he tries to get together with Tolkien in an attempt to open more doors for relationships, relating to his whole bicurious and gender questioning thing.

A BROTP I have with said character: Just like the brotp I have for Kyle, it’s Style. I also really like Stary as a friendship. I honestly hope that Gary might make a comeback and Stan would spend more time with him, while the rest of the main 4 gets absolutely mad they are hanging out with such a “wuss” and not with them instead >:( but unfortunately Gary is just a one and off character.

A NOTP I have with said character: I honestly don’t know what notp I have for him, I don’t seem to have any Stan ship that I actually loathe. I’m pretty sure I stated before that I LOVE ships featuring stan despite him not being my fave. Which is a bit weird to think about, but I’ll just leave it as a mere coincidence for now.

A random headcanon: Despite the fact that Stan’s goth phase was supposed to happen because of the fact Wendy broke up with him, he actually developed an interest in the goth style and still (secretly) hangs out with the goth kids. The goth kids don’t seem to mind being around him and they’re nice enough to actually guide him through the goth style! Stan REALLY enjoyed getting into it and the goth kids developed a soft spot for him, they’re a bunch of softies on the inside :( Stan would also wear a bunch of edgy black t shirts under his jacket because he just got soooooo into it. And his friends still don’t know about it, his interest in goth culture is still a secret, mostly out of fear of being ripped on.

General Opinion over said character: I honestly like him because he slightly reminds me of myself? We aren’t ENTIRELY similar but I can see myself in him. I also find a lot of his ships tasteful.

Kenny McCormick

Sexuality headcanon: I used to think he was a straight aromantic but now I can see him being pansexual, like I’m pretty sure he would love ANYTHING with titties. Him being a closeted pansexual aro is honestly very swaggy in my book. I say closeted because he literally lives in a family of rednecks, I think he’ll have to deal with a lot of internalized homophobia here. And I think it’s interesting to explore that in him! (The internalized homophobia idea was again not mine).

Gender headcanon: he’s a cis GNC man, he’s perfectly fine with identifying as a man but he loves dressing up as a princess, and he still does it from time to time!

A ship I have with said character: I don’t think I have any ship with him aside from Kenman. Their dynamic works very well and the way they laugh at each other’s jokes is so fuckeng adorable. I think their friendship should be explored more often, both in the actual show and in the fandom. There is a lot to unpack there. And also the way they carry a BFF necklace, adorable.

A BROTP I have with said character: Kenman again (I like it both romantically and platonically). I’m not used to ships with Kenny in them so I’m sorry if this is EXTREMELY bland.

A NOTP I have with said character: I’m sorry to say this but I never really found Bunny interesting.. that’s all I have to say, I’m sorry if that disappoints any of you.

Random headcanon: speaking of Kenny loving to dress as a princess, he sometimes roleplays as princesses with his little sister Karen, they come up with the most dramatic storylines ever and Kevin gets so annoyed by it sometimes and tells them to shut up. This one time Kenny and Karen stayed up all night playing dress up and they talked so loudly, that everyone woke up by the stupid annoying sounds they made. They never stopped doing it, and it was hell on earth for everyone else aside from these 2 mfs >:) I think there was also a point where all the other people around them heard it, but it was rather faint, so it took a while for everyone else to notice the loudness of it all.

General Opinion over said character: I never really thought about him, so my impression of him is a bit boring. But I’m hoping to dig more into his character if that’s what you guys want!

Apparently, when I added this one to the prompt list, I didn't copy-paste, so the ficlet might be a lil different. It also has a lot of stuff just implied rather than outright stated, but if you’ve read the prompt, it should hopefully be pretty clear what’s going on.

Once a Protector, Always a Protector

“So these were around when you were a kid?” Gregory poked at the old model of Bonnie, making a face at the sticky fabric.

“Yep,” Vanessa said with a grunt, heaving the dead weight of Freddy into a sitting position. “How are these heavier than the current models?”

“They’re… furry.”

“Great observation, Sherlock.” She dusted her hands off and surveyed the four animatronics. They were all pretty beat up, and there was no small amount of grime and dust matting the fur of the suits. “They only transitioned to plastic for the shells later on.”

“Is that why you don’t really like how they look? Ours, I mean. Because your favorites are these?”

“Who says they’re my favorites?”

Gregory looked down at the array of buckets and towels and sponges and soaps Vanessa had recruited him to help carry down here. “Just a hunch. You’ve never offered to clean ours.”

She sent him a dark look. If she knew Gregory well at all, she’d end up having to bribe him not to mention this to the Glamrocks, else they’d probably start making demands. They had an automated cleaning bay in Parts and Services that did a good enough job, but according to Roxy (and agreed upon by the rest), humans did a better job.

When he only smiled back at her, eyes alight with mischief, she fished a twenty out of her wallet and said, “I’ll give you another ten if you keep any of the others from coming down here.”

“Deal!” the brat cried, snatching the money and darting out of the storage room.

Vanessa rolled her eyes. Planting her hands on her hips, she critically examined the four run-down animatronics propped up against the wall. They were a lot like she remembered, though perhaps not as big as she would have guessed. Her numerous growth spurts had certainly changed her perspective. No more having to tilt her head back just to meet their eyes.

She mused on her childhood as she got to work.

Her family had moved away long before any kids had gone missing from that location, so she never saw it in the derelict state she’d heard it’d become. Vanessa’s memories were bright, happy things, if a little faint from the passage of time.

Chica had been her favorite, with Foxy a close second, and back then, they’d still been allowed to interact with the guests, even picking the children up. She’d liked that a lot; it’d been fun to be taller than all the other kids, held high in the air.

“Don’t know if you remember me,” she said after a few minutes of silence. “But I was part of the after school program for a while.” Vanessa sat back on her heels, frowning. “I don’t think they’ve done that for ages, actually. Yikes, that makes me sound old.”

Patting Chica on the shoulder, she faux whispered, “You were my favorite. Saved me from a couple bullies once, actually. Just, whoosh, picked me right up from over one of their heads and got all huffy with them.”

She knew they couldn’t hear her, not shut down and damaged as they were. They’d probably never be turned on again, which made a bubble of frustrated sadness burn in her chest. But that hadn’t stopped her from being excited when she was told they were being brought here to be stored, and it wouldn’t ruin her mood now.

It was peaceful down here, in one of the basement storage rooms. Probably no one had set foot through the door in months before the delivery of these animatronics.

In the solitude and silence, Vanessa could almost forget about the past few weeks. About the nightmares and the constant headaches and the bruises and scratches she’d wake up with. Even after the worst was over, she still wasn’t totally free.

Actually. Hang on.

Vanessa paused and straightened up from wringing a cloth out over a bucket. Her headache, which no amount or type of medication had been able to even put a dent in, was gone. The pressure behind her eyes, the tightness at the back of her skull, the thickness against her sinuses—all gone.

And so was a different feeling, one she hadn’t even been fully aware of until now that it had vanished. An ever-present heaviness wrapped around her, like a tangible feeling of danger or being watched. She felt lighter, could breathe easier.

“Uh,” she said, a bit stupefied. She’d complained about the pounding in her head not half an hour ago, before she and Gregory had come down here.

With the release of the pain and tension she’d been dealing with for more than a month, exhaustion swept through her. Her vision went a little fuzzy around the edges, and she stumbled to catch her balance.

“Okay, wow,” she said. “Nap time, I guess.”

Abandoning her supplies, Vanessa managed not to trip to the door, only to hesitate to open it. A little voice that wasn’t really a voice in the back of her head was urging her to stay.

Releasing the door handle, Vanessa took a step back. She glanced around, but the storage room wasn’t exactly teeming with chairs or couches. Her eyes landed on the animatronics.

With a shrug, she squeezed between Chica and Bonnie, who had the least offensive smell, and wiggled until she was half sprawled on the former’s torso. It was almost like being tucked under Chica’s arm, if it wasn’t loose and limp on the ground.

“Fingers crossed that my luck holds,” she murmured, cheek squished against Chica’s surprisingly comfy suit, “and I get a nice, nightmare-free nap.”

Between the silence and the lack of pain, it didn’t take long for Vanessa to feel herself start to drift off. She clung to the hazy hope of getting true rest for once, and that little not-voice offered comforting reassurance.

Just before sleep claimed her, she could have sworn she felt a hand press gently against her back.

I'm writing a couple of things right now but my fav is a currently untitled WIP that is written in the style of Ian and Mickey's journal entries and focuses on their journey through couples counselling. Their entries alternate, and it's currently about 6k words long and it might go to 7or 8 depending on how I decide to wrap it up!

This is a cute, funny, quirky lil fic so far <3

I can’t believe I’m fucking doing this shit.

I have homework. What the hell? Haven’t had homework since before I dropped out of highschool, and I didn’t do it back then either.

Ian really wants me to do this.

Fuck.

Asshole’s got me by the balls, as usual.

Not sure when Ian turned into one of those sad sacks who thinks a shrink is worth his time, but our stupid neighbors told him about this ‘couple’s therapist’ (fancy talk for professional BULLSHITTER). Somehow he’s got me going along with it and now I’ve got FUCKIN HOMEWORK!!!

She told us her name was Dr. Young, but that we could just call her Rose. I asked her how come she’d spend so many years in school to get those dumb letters tacked on to the end of her name, if she was just gonna let dicks like us just call her by her first name.

So bitch looked a little like a grandma, like a nice one that didn’t probably didn’t flick ash from her smokes on her grandkids. She was way too calm, and Ian said it was “soothing” but I thought it was freaky.

Anyway, Rose asked us about a million questions, and I thought about making a run for a couple of times. Turns out we were only in there for 45 minutes, but it felt like being back in fucking prison.

Not only does she want us to start writing all this shit down, she wants us to spend the next two weeks making lists about what Ian and I are greatful grateful for. Like… about one another. Which is WEIRD. Like I already married the guy for fuck’s sake!!

Isn’t that enough to prove that I wanna be with him? We’re supposed to share the list next time. Ian will be all pouty if I don’t do it.

Whatever.

The couple’s therapist was a lot less intimidating than I thought she’d be.

I really didn’t think Mick would actually agree to come with me, but he sat through the whole session and everything.

Kinda impressive.

It’s not that we need couples counseling or anything. In fact, I think we’re less likely to strangle each other now than we’ve ever been. We’re good. Solid.

But I think we’ve still got our own individual shit to work out. ‘Gallaghers don’t do therapy’- yeah, look at where that got us.

I guess we’re trying something new.

The homework we got after the first session is to keep a journal (not my first time doing that, but this one will be less rambly), and make lists about why we’re grateful for one another. Mick’s eyeballs almost popped out of his fucking head when he heard that we had homework.

I don’t know if he’ll do it. I think he might. If he does, I’m gonna be very interested to hear what he writes. I have lots of shit to be grateful for when it comes to Mickey- I’ve just never thought about it in list form.

Here goes nothing.

have a to do list going currently, will copy/paste what's been done or in progress.

shade bb's base character art - did this, minus the eyebrows which i only realized after i started adding sprites to the vn sahdgsahg so i'm doing that now and spending the rest of the night overwriting the images i've already saved (okay. did that too)

finish all expressions - have all the components needed for expressions now as well as a good naming system for easy reference (instead of things like 'happy' 'sad' 'confused' etc cause some expressions i do not have names for. i don't wanna confuse myself lmao) - editing to add: an example of my naming system cause where "happy" & "happy grin" would be confusing for me... my version, being "bb_relaxed_j_dn_snsl_at" & "BBrelaxedJdnSNSLat" would be confusing for others. "ziemniak, relaxed pose, jacket, hood down, squint, neutral, smile, looking at you." in depth but easy for me to remember uwu

pose variation colouring and shading - got all the way to the shading but stopped after a bit to work on expressions, won't be long til i'm done

did some editing for prologue and chapter 1 - typos and a couple choices i forgot to add.

played with how i wanna add the characters into scenes and figured out what i want my "default" to be. will have to figure out what i want to do in certain scenes tho, but those scenes aren't even written yet so it's not a priority.

I do have a happy situation to tell,

An old lady I call her my grandma has a chihuahua that her and her littermates were rescued from puppy mill, and that dog did not want to do anything or go close to anyone the first couple of months, she was anxious and wouldn't eat much. My gran is a sweet and lives a laid back life, so that and with great patience after many months this dog came out of her shell, and is more active, she is the is the sweetest chihuahua I have ever met, most I've met are angry (it's nervousness I get it) while she's still is shy and hides from strangers like most chihuahuas but she doesn't grow at people. When too many people or loud children visit, grandma let's her have a safe space to hide away from the noise and crowd. My grandma has lost a dog recently before she got the chihuahua, That dog and my grandma was good to each other and seeing them glow up after being sad makes me happy.

Recently I think I got the dog to open up to me, I visit in the weekends and I see the little dog waiting for me in the door, she's used to my visits and today and last week she gets her paws in my knees and does excited zoomies and let's me pet her, before she would skitter away before I could get three feet close (don't worry I didn't chase her around and let her come to me in her own terms)

She's the goodest chihuahua I've ever met and I think we are friends now.

I'm glad that your grab and the dog are getting along!! My grandma has a dog that we literally lured into her backyard off the street using turkey because he was just wandering. No microchip or collar, so she's had him for a few years now. The only person I understand he actually likes and seems out seems to be my mom, who's the person he initially followed into her backyard (which is funny because my mom loves dogs, but when you know her she's honestly more of a cat person) but he does like my grandma and aunt, who he lives with, as well. They had a Chihuahua mix who was the dog's friend, both of them pretty young (like. Four or five years old sort of young. Maybe a lil older?), but unfortunately he herniated a disc jumping off my grandma's bed and they had to put him down. The chi mix was, of course, the friendly and playful one between the two. I know my grandma has mentioned adopting another dog before, but I'm not sure if she'll do it with the one dog she currently has. Even though she's had him for several years he still has a lot of anxiety. He at least doesn't completely take off away from people anymore though!

M glad you're getting along with the dog better as well 💚 when it comes to animals who have been abused or neglected, I'm not an expert, but time, patience, and existing without asking anything of them helps. It might take a while but it helps. Malik, my horse, really only Likes a handful of people, and I think I'm at the top of his list. I spent a lot of time when I first got him just existing in the stall with him, or letting him loose in an arena and watching him, doing things on his terms. We took a lot of walks without demands. In our arena he likes to hang out by my side and lick my arm, but if Maevus is out she gets jealous and pushes him away from me. Not that she particularly wants to be around me, but she's not going to let HIM be around me 😂

I'm glad you two are friends now 💚 there's a special feeling when an animal who was afraid of people begins to like you! And I'm happy the chi has been able to start trusting you, because it really is a big step when they can do that 💚💚💚💚

Growing Up

Based Off Of This Ask

A/N: So I just wanted to write something. So I wrote some dad!Harry fluff for y’all bc this concept was too cute and I just loved it so much. It’s just a little blurb, that kinda gives me a head cannon type of vibe for some reason...so I hope it doesn’t suck lmao! enjoy🥺🥰

Your little boy was growing up so fast. It was almost as if you had blinked and the time just passed you both by. You and Harry could vividly remember the day you two found out that you were expecting, when bubs was just a tiny bean in your stomach. The both of you were beyond happy in that moment. You were gleefully jumping around the bedroom and you two let the joy filled tears from the amazing news flow from your eyes as you celebrated this monumental moment in you guys’ family and life together.

Over the course of the nine or so months following that day, you and Harry happily watched as your baby boy (and you for that matter) grew. You and Harry got to see your baby at your scheduled ultrasounds and you watched him transform from a little dot on the screen to a fully formed baby with ten fingers and toes along with a miniature version of Harry’s nose. The two of you felt bubs growing too. When you felt yourself getting bigger, your son was getting bigger as well. Along with the increase in the amount of weight forming in your midsection, you could feel your son moving around too. As you became farther along in your pregnancy, you could feel your baby boy moving around in your stomach more and more. There were so many times where bubs would move around and kick you, to which you’d let out a sharp wince and Harry would softly yet “sternly” reprimand his son letting him know that it wasn’t nice to kick his mommy. But even though you could definitely go without a swift kick to your ribs, you couldn’t stop the little smile from spreading across your face once you got over the initial pain of it all. You were so happy to feel that your baby boy was growing and healthy, and you were beyond excited to see him.

Along with a couple of very memorable days throughout your pregnancy, and the day you found out that you were expecting, the day you finally gave birth was definitely a day that would always remain clear at the forefront of you and Harry’s minds. After an epidural(that was hardly effective in your opinion), hours upon hours of being in labor, a lot of tears, and some strong screams at Harry, the two of you finally welcomed your baby boy into the world. He was absolutely perfect and everything you and Harry had envisioned. Even though he was much bigger than the tiny dot on the screen at the very early stage of your pregnancy, he was still incredibly tiny. Especially when he was in Harry’s arms. The two of you soaked up every moment with your baby boy and neither of you wanted him to grow up and not be the little baby that fit perfectly in your arms. Even when he kept the two of you up at night and into the wee hours of the morning, you and Harry never wanted him to grow up.

But that’s exactly what he did. Again, it was like the two of you blinked and the time just blew right past you both. One moment he was the tiny little human that found his home in your belly and then in your arms. And the next he was a two and a half year old carbon copy of Harry with a sprinkle of you in the mix that had a big and amazing personality of his own. He was without a doubt you and Harry’s favorite person in the world and there weren’t enough words in the world to describe how much love you two had for that little boy. But even though this was the case, you and Harry couldn’t help but miss that little baby you brought home two and a half years ago.

And since he was no longer a baby anymore, it was time for bubs to get his first big boy room.

He’d already outgrown so many of the clothes you and Harry had gotten him along with the toys he had. The last thing on the outgrown list was the crib. And once that was finally crossed off the list, it meant that he’d finally outgrown everything. Which meant that it was time to give him a room that best suited him and his growth along with his interests. You and Harry noticed that bubs had taken a great interest in dinosaurs. From the toys he wanted and played with to the books he wanted to read to his favorite pajamas, everything was dinosaurs. So that’s what you and Harry decided to play off of when building your sons new room. The two of you wanted to create a dinosaur oasis for him and you wanted it to be everything that the toddler could possibly want. For almost four months you and Harry bought all of the furniture and decor that fit perfectly into the dinosaur theme the two of you had envisioned. And as it all came in, the two of you were able to perfectly and seamlessly put the room together. Every once in a while having a little hiccup in the process like not centering a nail on the wall or something, but nothing major.

Now while you and Harry were loving the project and enjoyed doing this for your son, it was still a really hard process for you both. Particularly for Harry though. As the two of you got closer to being done with the new room, you and Harry began packing up bubs’ baby clothes and things that he grew out of so that you could donate them and make space for the new things you two had gotten for him. As you two packed though, Harry was incredibly sad. While he loved his little man who ran around and was just full of life and energy, he missed his little baby. He couldn’t pick him up and have him all snug and tucked into his arms the same way he used to. Bubs was bigger and all of that was sinking in now as Harry packed up all of the small clothes and toys. With everything that was placed into the container, a little coo or memory left Harry’s mouth. He couldn’t stop himself from getting a little emotional at the fact that his baby was now a big boy. The both of you were incredibly sad that he was growing up so fast.

And even though it was an incredibly sad thing to think about, what made both you and Harry happy about it all was the big smile and shouts of amazement that came from your son once you two revealed the room to him. He was absolutely in love with his new big boy bed and all of the dinosaur pictures and decor on the walls, and the toys, and the dinosaur nightlight you two had gotten for him. He ran around the room looking at everything and taking it all in and just loving what his mommy and daddy put together for him. He couldn’t stop saying the cutest little thank you’s which only melted you and Harry even more. Seeing bubs so happy made you and Harry beyond happy and it made the whole growing up thing a bit easier.

After showing some of the things he couldn’t immediately see in his new room and playing with him a bit, you and Harry decided to step out and let bubs enjoy his new room for a little bit while you two continued with cleaning out his old room. The two of you gave the little boy a ton of squeezes and kisses before leaving him alone with his toys and getting back to packing all the baby stuff up. You and Harry had a set up on the floor so the two of you got back down there and went back to folding and looking through things. After a little while though, Harry couldn’t do it anymore. He was too overcome with the fact that his baby boy was getting bigger and now had his first big boy room. All of it was just too much for him. Keeping the little clothing item in his hand, Harry turns himself around and lays down on the floor, resting his head in your lap and causing you to turn your attention onto him.

“What’s going on babe?” You ask, finishing up the fold on the item in your hands before giving him your full attention.

“M’sad” Harry mumbles with a big pout spread across his face.

“Why baby?” You coo, bringing one of your hands to the side of his face and the other to his hair.

“Because! Our baby isn’t a baby anymore.” Harry whines dramatically.

“It’s not like he’s 30 or something with a wife and kid of his own...you are.” You joke, trying to lighten the mood.

“Y/n!” He whines.

“Okay fine! I hate it when you’re all mopey and sad, so don’t be. I’m sad too, but it’ll be okay. No matter how big he gets, he’ll always be our baby.”

“I know, I just can’t stop thinking about how small he was when we brought him home and how he really needed us. Now he’s this little person who isn’t as small and who is starting to not need us. He’s his own little person.” He explains.

“Well he is his own little person. But he’s only two and a half, so he’ll be needing us for a good while Harry.” You reassure him with a little laugh, trying your best to comfort your very emotional husband. “What will make you feel better? What’s gonna make my baby feel better?” You coo, softly pinching his cheek in the process.

“Make another baby?” He proposes, turning is head up towards you.

“You know that takes both of us right?” You ask sarcastically, trying your hardest to not roll your eyes at him.

“If I’m not mistaken, I remember you being a big fan of the baby making process.” He reminds you smugly.

“Maybe.”

“See! Plus we’ve talked about it a couple times, so it’s the perfect time.” He says happily in your lap. “If we put bubs down for his nap now, we can have our second bubby cooking in there by dinner.” He says optimistically, bringing a hand up to your currently empty stomach.

“I don’t think that’s how it works Harry.” You deadpan, trying to hold back your laughs from how happy and cute he was in this moment.

“Who cares?! It never hurts to try!!” Harry continues on. “Are you in?” He asks hopefully.

“Let’s make another baby then.” You giggle, giving in to the idea. From the outside looking in, it may have looked like a bit of a spur of the moment thing. But in actuality, you were already thinking of possibly adding another member to the Styles family. You too were sad at the idea of your little boy growing up. And on top of that, you wanted him to have a sibling and someone to play with. So it all kind of worked out. Bubs was going to be turning three soon and you and Harry were really thinking and talking about another baby so it was perfect. You just hoped that you wouldn’t be popping out another baby as each of the other kids were growing up. You were kind of crossing your fingers that going forward a big boy bed didn’t come with the quest of having another baby.

Maybe after baby number two harry wouldn’t be so sad about growing up.

So this isn’t exactly new content—sorry to anyone whose hopes I got up.

In my efforts to make my posts a more, ahem, ✨~aesthetic reading experience~✨, I’ve been going through and editing my old posts. My original post for day three has always bugged me, so I’ve decided to break it up so that all the boys get their own posts. Also, I’m leaving Damian’s as the original post, so that’s something.

Other than the look of things and a few light edits, there aren’t any major changes. It should make for better, more streamline reading tho. ((thinking about it now, this is more like a quality of life patch than anything lol…))

This… got a lil bit sad. Again. I’m so sorry lol. I love Jay, I truly do! He’s actually my favorite out of all the boys, which leads to me delving deeper into who he is as a character and given all he’s been through… Well dude’s a walking angst factory if I’ve ever seen one. That being said…

TW for mentions of a panic attack, though I don’t go into great detail about said attack. I more so touch on helping him to work through it and the aftermath, and even that’s not super detailed. If you want to skip it, keep scrolling until you get past all of the ‼’s (6 in total).

🌟 Out of all the Bats, Jay’s probably the got the most chill when it comes to shopping. Who saw that one coming?

He’s got his list—which is p. short as he’s already bought most of his gifts months ago—so everything’s well in order.

🌟 He’s also v. flexible, able to adapt to any shopping style.

You more of a mission based shopper that likes to get in and out? Give him half of your list and send him off to hunt that shit down for you. Also keep your phone handy in case he needs to hit you up for some clarification.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, do you like to go in and just wing it? He’ll use his detective prowess to help you analyze any recipients you may be having trouble with picking something out for.

If you’re one of those people who gets easily distracted he’ll either help you stay on task or go off on a tangent with you depending on what you want to do.

You wanna touch all the things? He’ll only stop you if it looks like you’re gonna break something lol. And if you do he’ll pay for it with minimum grumblings on his part, though he will tell you that you need to be more careful in the future.

🌟 Doesn’t tend to get bored too quickly as he enjoys people watching.

He’s so damn tall that he can easily see over most displays, and thanks to his dip in the Pit his hearing’s enhanced*. If he focuses he can listen to the argument that a couple is having three aisles over or the total meltdown that somebody’s brat’s having over not getting whatever toy it is that they want lol.

If you want he’ll gladly narrate the goings-on for you.

*((I have no idea if that’s canon or not, btw. Regardless, I personally give anyone who has been inside of a Lazarus Pit freaky good reflexes and sensory intake. But anyways…))

🌟 More than okay with being a pack mule if you need him to be—after all, all those muscles gotta be good for something.

🌟 Also okay with being left on a bench somewhere with your haul. Again, people watching’s his jam and this gives him ample opportunity to indulge.

🌟 But that’s all only tangentially related to the prompt so let’s move on…

🌟 As far as getting lost in the mall… That shit would freak him out big time. He’s a former Bat, thee fucking Red Hood. He does not get lost–

🌟 –well until he does, clearly.

🌟 Depending on the headspace he’s in this can go one or two ways.

‼ If he’s already feeling stressed for whatever reason getting lost will freak him out as I’ve already said, though to a much greater degree. His anxiety will spike, potentially throwing him into a full blown panic attack.

‼ If you’re with him, try to pull him off to somewhere less crowded. A bathroom is one of the better options, though if the men’s room isn’t a viable option for you a dressing room will do as well. Walk him through some breathing exercises as those are the most effective method for calming him, and just stay with him until he levels out.

‼ Once he’s a bit more stable get him home asap. Plot out the fastest route to the nearest exit and find your way back to your car from there; he’ll be better off walking outside in the open air than trying to fight the crowds.

‼ He’s gonna be feeling p. fragile for a bit afterwards, so be sure to love on him as much as he’ll let you. He’s probably not gonna want to talk about it, not that there’s much to say. You both already know about his anxiety and the potential for crowds to set it off. Stuff like that’s easier to deal with when he’s in vigilante mode, but when he’s just Jason he finds that he’s not always as strong as he wants to be.

‼ And if you’ve managed to get separated… that’s just not gonna end well. Like at all. He’ll focus all of his anxiety into finding you, and getting in his way is not at all advisable. Once he finally locates you, you’re going home. Full stop, that’s it, drop whatever it is you’re holding unless you plan on stealing that shit because you’re leaving right the fuck now.

‼ He’s not trying to be controlling or anything like that, he’s just freaked the fuck out. He needs to get back to a space where he can feel comfortable and in control of his emotions again, and ofc he needs the one person that he trusts most in this world (i.e. you) to be there with him.

🌟 If he’s in a better headspace he’s gonna be annoyed more than anything.

How tf did he let himself get lost? And in a mall of all fucking places. Disgraceful, truly.

If there’s one available he’s gonna pull up a map on his phone to help orient himself, and barring that he’s gonna look for one of those directories that most malls have on a wall or stand somewhere—or at least they used to have them. I haven’t been to a mall in ages (the one in my city is p. empty so I do my shopping online) so idk if this is still a thing.

Anyways!

He is not above asking a guard or store employee for help, esp. if you’ve somehow gotten separated from each other. Your safety (and his sanity) comes well before any pride he may have.

Expect him to bitch about the whole ordeal for the next several minutes. He’s also gonna want to hit up the food court as he feels like he’s earned a snack after all that fuckery lol.

🌟 So overall he’s an excellent shopping buddy—10/10 would bring along again.

After the twins, who were a blast to be around, helped unload the moving van, your mother and you went into town to buy some things that we need and to look for a job for me. First, we hit up the local bakery for a late lunch. Then, we headed to the library, the bakery owner was kind enough to point us in the direction of a possible job opening.

Walking into Trotwood Library was like traveling back in time. There was no modern technology that you were used to libraries using there. Even to check out a book requires you to sign it out by hand. If you worked there it would be a pain to keep everything organized but a library job would be perfect. Then, there was the pleasant smell of paper from the books in the air! Seeing an older lady at the front desk, you walk up to her while your mother wanders off. At first, she doesn’t see you so you clear your throat.

“Excuse me, ma’am, I just moved here and I would like to fill out an application and turn it in,” you say while smiling at her. She gives you a once-over and then slaps an application in front of you. “Oh, thank you... Uhm, do you think I could borrow a pen?” Bam. “Thank you.”

As you’re filling out the application your mother comes around the corner with a large smile. “Oh, Luca! This place hasn’t changed since I was a kid! Maybe a bit more disorganized than I remember it but- Mrs. Margrett! It’s so nice to see you again after all this time. You still work here? I thought you would have retired by now!”

Mrs. Margrett’s face brightens up as she takes the time to look at your mother’s face. “Lil’ Kelsi! I thought you moved away and got married? Are you visiting with your family?”

Your mother gently puts her hand on your back and smiles at her. “Actually, my daughter and I have moved in with my parents. So, you’ll be seeing us around here more often. We were actually out looking for a job for Luca. Do you still run this place with your husband or do you have help now?”

Mrs. Margrett’s face fills with sadness. “My husband passed away four years ago. I know I should get help, especially since the library runs the daycare as well, but I’m just being stubborn.” It was then you notice a little wireless baby monitor on her desk next to a telephone. A little boy was taking a nap on a sleeping mat in the middle of an obvious daycare room. “Luckily, it’s only been Leyland that has been needing to be looked after for the past couple of years. I’m sorry to say I dread when all the youngsters start having youngins of their own.” She sighs and leans back in her chair while looking at the little screen.

“I’m so sorry to hear that Mr. Jon passed, he was a good man.” There was a moment of silence until a small thank you came from Mrs. Margrett. “Well, as I said, my Luca is looking for a job and she would be a perfect help here! Her previous job was at a library and she is great with kids!” Okay, Momma, you’re laying it on a little thick… You’re just awkwardly standing there now since you’ve finished filling out the application. “Luca is a very hard worker and she can even start today!”

Hold up.

You look at your mom in disbelief. “What?”

Mrs. Margrett looks between you, your mother, and the application sitting on the counter. You smile at her awkwardly as she slides the paper in front of her to look at. “Hmm… Fine, I’ll hire you if you are willing to start right now.”

“Great! I’ll go get all the things from the list we made this morning, so don’t worry about that. Just call me when you’re done and I’ll come to pick you up. Bye, honey.”

“Wha-” But before you could even say anything she was already gone.

Looking back to Mrs. Margrett after you hear a giggle, you see a sweet smile on her face. “Your mother hasn’t changed at all. She would always take charge of situations before anyone could blink.” Turning around she grabs a cart filled with books and the baby monitor after checking the time. “Come along. I’ll show you how we do things around here.”

It was late in the evening by the time you got done learning how things were done. During training, the little boy, Leyland, woke up and you got to be introduced to him. Come to find out he is the son of Marco, he stays here while his dad goes out and works. He took an immediate liking to you and followed you around the library the rest of the day. Like a baby duck following its mother.

Pulling out your phone, you call your mother. “Hello, Momma? You can come get me now.”

You hear two women giggling in the background. “I’m sorry, honey, can you wait an hour? I met up with some people I grew up with and I’m having dinner with them now.”

You felt like something like this would happen and it’ll definitely be longer than an hour. You can’t wait until you can get your own car. “That’s okay, Momma. I can wait with my new friend Leyland!” You smile down at the boy sleeping in your arms.

After saying bye to your mother and hanging up the phone, you start swaying and humming. This lasts about twenty minutes until you hear the daycare door open, revealing Margrett. “Oh, Mrs. Margrett!
