My feelings on the Vampire Heart doll are all over the place.
But I think they mostly boil down to: I would be more inclined to buy her if it was Elissabat instead just because another collector Draculaura doll feels so unnecessary.

A Good Day for Death Halloween Special 2023
Wednesday Addams x Reader
“Halloween is so important for Outcasts!” chirped Enid, flipping through her pinterest of costume ideas. “Come on, we have a huge party every year. You have to come and dress up!”
“All Hallow’s Eve is important to my family,” said Wednesday. She glanced at the variety of pink and fantastical outfits on Enid’s board. “However, we prefer to spend our time performing seances to commune with our deceased family members rather than at kids’ parties.”
“Addamses can actually die?” asked (Y/N). Honestly, that was the most surprising part of that discussion.
“When they decide they want to explore the afterlife,” said Wednesday matter-of-factly.
“Oh, cool!” said (Y/N) brightly. “I’m not really sure how easy it is for me, either. You know, child of Thanatos and all that.”
“We could find out,” said Wednesday.
“Let’s please not try to kill (Y/N),” said Enid, not liking how easily (Y/N) was nodding. They were way too willing to go along with Wednesday’s ideas.
“Another time, then.” Wednesday glanced at (Y/N). “Though I suppose I’d have to just take you to the brink of death.” She didn’t really want (Y/N) dead (not that she’d admit it to anyone. That would be soft).
            “I trust you!” chirped (Y/N).
Wednesday couldn’t respond to that as she felt her heart skip a beat (a pleasant sensation since it might signal her death). (Y/N) was surprisingly skilled at finding that Wednesday was (unfortunately) soft for them.
“Hey, hey, focus, you two!” said Enid. “We need costumes!”
“I already have mine,” said (Y/N), shrugging.
Enid sighed, and her shoulders slouched. “You go as the exact same thing every year!”
“I updated the outfit this time,” said (Y/N), smiling. They looked at Wednesday and grinned. “I always go as a grim reaper.”
            “Appropriate choice,” remarked Wednesday.
            “Thanks,” said (Y/N), smiling.
“Fine, fine, you’re a reaper as usual,” said Enid. She crossed her arms. “Wednesday, tell me you of all people have a cool costume.”
“I’m a homicidal maniac. They look just like everyone else,” said Wednesday.
            “Oh, nice,” said (Y/N).
“You guys are both terrible at this,” muttered Enid. She threw up her hands. “Okay, fine. But I need help since I actually put in effort. I have a few ideas, but I have no idea what to do.”
“You should go as my victim,” said Wednesday.
“Uh, no thanks,” said Enid. “I was thinking of going as Draculaura or Princess Peach.”
“Definitely Princess Peach. We have enough Fangs here already,” said (Y/N). Wednesday nodded in agreement.
“But she’s so cute…” Enid pouted, but (Y/N) and Wednesday had a point. “At least Princess Peach is totally in my color scheme.” She grinned. “Now, let’s get ready for the party!”
            “I’m not going,” said Wednesday.
“You say that now, but Enid loves this party. You’re not getting out of it,” teased (Y/N). They smiled. “But don’t worry, I’ll be there.”
Wednesday supposed that would make it better couldn’t make it worse.
l
“I still don’t understand parties,” remarked Wednesday as she stared around herself at the students partying and dancing (and drinking).
Enid almost patted her on the back but stopped since Wednesday didn’t like physical touch. “I know you don’t like parties, but (Y/N) will be here soon.” She grinned at Wednesday, dressed in a blond wig and a knee-length pink dress decorated with Nintendo emblems.
“Why would that change anything?” said Wednesday, refusing to look at Enid’s smile.
“No reason,” chirped Enid. “Here they come, have fun!” Enid knew very well that Wednesday liked (Y/N), so she was more than happy to leave them alone.
“Hey, Wednesday!” said (Y/N). They blinked as Enid left. “Where’s Enid going?”
“She likes to dance,” said Wednesday simply.
She glanced at (Y/N) and their costume. They had black trousers and a crop top on with a long grey cloak overtop. In their hand, they held a fake scythe (though Wednesday knew they were skilled with a real one, so the impression wasn’t lost). Their makeup was dark around their eyes to create a gaunter expression. (Y/N) was definitely a grim reaper.
“You actually attempted to look scary,” said Wednesday. “Good.” Too many of the costumes here were cute. Wednesday thought perhaps she should dress up as a killer and then scare them.
(Y/N) smiled, knowing that was a compliment from Wednesday. “You should see me during Dia de los Muertos. I look amazing.”
Wednesday was silent for a moment before speaking. “You always fit with death.”
(Y/N) faltered, surprised at getting two Wednesday-like compliments back-to-back, before laughing nervously and turning a little pink. “Thanks, Wednesday.” They glanced at her. “But seriously, you should come celebrate with me. I wouldn’t make you wear color, and it could be really fun.”
“I don’t really do ‘fun,’ ” said Wednesday.
“Not even fun that involves graveyards, death, and ghosts returning to visit us?” said (Y/N), knowing what Wednesday liked.
Wednesday considered. “I suppose that is my family’s typical Halloween.”
“Then you’ll like my family’s Dia de los Muertos.” (Y/N) grinned. “Sometimes my dad likes to show up, too.”
Now, Wednesday was against parties, but with (Y/N) and the god of death present? She could put up with irritating people. “I suppose I could come.”
(Y/N) brightened, and Wednesday pretended she didn’t like how happy they looked. “Awesome! I’m glad you said yes.”
Wednesday didn’t respond, but she silently knew that she was more willing to do what (Y/N) asked of her than anyone else.

This Mattel Hattie Happy head arrived with rhinestones in the eyes, replacing the original (and fragile) eye chips. I painted irises and upper shadow over them, and that blended well with the rest of the original eye paint.
The head had been in the parts box for years, waiting for an appropriate body. I stuck it on a Cave Club body as a joke, and...it kinda worked? But I didn't like the lack of shoe options for the Cave Club feet. It turns out the Cave Club lower legs are easy to remove, and I had had some Bratzillaz (or possibly Project MC2) lower legs in for a while. I really liked the proportions of the lower legs on this body, but I was never happy enough with the actual legs to go ahead and paint them to match.
I dug the doll out again recently and noticed how much the Cave Club thighs looked like G1 MH thighs, just scaled down a bit. @musicalmeowsandcandiedlemons had sent some MH legs a while ago (thanks again!), so I cut them apart to get the lower legs out, then trimmed a bit of plastic off of the knee pegs, and they fit into the Cave Club thighs pretty well.
They didn't match, though. (they had been Draculaura's)
I still didn't feel like dealing with the airbrush, or with mixing (or buying) paint to match, so I rummaged through the Citadel paints in Husband's stash and thought Bestial Brown looked close. I applied it with a broad brush, and it is a little streaky and dark, plus I wanted to protect the paint from possibly sticking to the insides of the shoes, and hosiery addresses all of those issues.
I do not like sewing for dolls this small, but that also means I don't have much that fits them, so I have to make something sometime, and sewed this dress specifically for her today.

All right, time to discuss Spell the Beans, this is your spoiler warning. I've previously talked about how I view Draculaura practicing witchcraft this gen as a gay allegory, and considering this episode's theme, I have thoughts. Buckle up, this analysis of sorts will get long. (Also, homophobia will be mentioned)
What kicks the episode off is Drac losing a potion bottle, which gets found and is the reason for Bloodgood calling everyone's parents in to help search. Once again, Toralei wants her to be found out, and with all the talk of witchcraft making Draculaura feel like herself, it being something she won't consider giving up despite it having the potential to cause so many problems for her (Toralei trying to snitch on her, her parents or other students potentially reacting badly, expulsion), frames it like she has no choice about being a witch. Like it's innate (You know. Like being queer). Which also means Toralei is basically trying to out her which is... not great (I like her but I can't deny that- girlie has issues).
A scene soon after that shows Draculaura freaking about about the fact that her dad will be there, specifically to find the witch. What's interesting is that she clearly doesn't intend to keep this a secret from him. Here's some quotes:
"I should have told dad about my witchcraft last weekend when I planned to! But then he saw my report card, and he was so proud. He kept saying how I was following in his bat steps to become the premier first and foremost top monster."
"That's the vampire way. Once something is decided, they don't change it, no matter how silly, outdated, or pfft-y it sounds. That's why it's so hard to tell him I do witchcraft."
Clawdeen asks if she'll tell him when he gets there, to which she says: "In the middle of a witchhunt? No way. As the Pfft, he has to uphold the rules. He'd expell me!"
So what can we gather from this? She was planning to come out to him, most likely because since she views witchcraft as such a core part of herself, something she has to admit to truly be able to be herself around him. She planned it out and everything (as I'm sure a lot of us have before coming out so someone. I sure did), but backed down because he was proud, dissuading her from ruining his positive view of her in that moment. She knows he won't like her being a witch thanks to his outdated views, and yet all that's kept her from telling him sooner was fear of someone so close to her not accepting her (again, relatable).
Now the only reason she won't tell him is because in a school environment, she'd get punished. This is rather bleek, but there are still many places in the world where you can get expelled for being queer, including several schools in the US from what I've gathered, so it's an easy comparison to make.
Dracula holds a presentation on why witchcraft is forbidden, concluding that it's a danger to monsters, to which Draculaura says to herself: "Fine, some witches are bad, but witchcraft isn't inherently bad". It's reminiscent of queer people getting clumped together as a threat to society, children, the family, all that nonsense. People have always loved to take singular incidents of a queer person doing something abhorrent, and taking that as "proof" that all queer folks are a danger and should be shunned, or worse, not be allowed in certain jobs or be persecuted.
When Dracula asks Draculaura to help him find the witch, she immediately goes from happy to see him to uncomfortable. Like getting stuck in yet another conversation with your parents where they go on about their discomfort with gay or trans people or whatever it is that time, she's stuck with him demonizing witchcraft right before her, not knowing he's making her feel awful the whole time.
(A sillier sidenote, but the "Witch-Detector" made me think of the whole gaydar thing. Not relevant though.)
Draculaura ends up telling him the truth because she doesn't want Toralei to get expelled for something she didn't do. And her dad doesn't want to believe her. He lists down reasons that basically say 'you're too respectable to be a witch', but she leaves no room for doubt. And he's extremely disappointed.
She tries to explain to him that his views are skewed by his preconceived notions, and he shouts at her. "So you're breaking the rules for some frivolous hobby? You must give it up, now! Before it ruins your chance to be Pfft!" She tells him she doesn't want to follow in his footsteps. That she didn't know how to tell him because she knew he'd be upset. And he says, that well, of course he is! He treats it like something she can change, when the show never treats that like an option. Telling her he's worried for her future. When she tries to show him the beauty in what she's doing, he just leaves her standing there.
I do appreciate this scene. Many of us aren't lucky enough to have parents who immediately accept their kid after they come out, and the show built up to a bad reaction from him. This was bound to happen. A lot of parents don't want their kids to be gay because of homophobia, yes, but there's also often an element of fear. Of others thinking the same way as them, mistreating them because of it, having fewer chances for your future. It's all reflected in his reaction.
He ends up talking to Apollo (Clawdeen's dad), going on a whole tangent of what his super "handsome friend" (Why do you want him to see you as handsome so bad?🤨) (Also the friend is Dracula), should do if his daughter isn't quite who he thought she was, liking something he sees as dangerous, when he believed she liked "Respectable things" (there that is again), he worries she won't be happy. What I just said. Apollo explains that his kid's happiness is more important than his own opinions on what she's doing, and that she'll be safer if he supports her.
And queer people are safer when they are supported. Mental health wise.
It's enough for him to reconsider. He ends up talking to Draculaura, and they team up to get Toralei out of trouble without revealing Drac as a witch. He tells her that he'll do his best to change the rules.
So what are my thoughts? This was a fairly well executed episode, in my opinion. From my queer allegory perspective, the topic was handled in a manner very remisncent of common real life experiences. Dracula's initial negative reaction was hard to watch, but was the right choice to include it, and while he was rather quick to change his mind, for my taste, I do understand the show not wantig to leave their younger audience on such a sour note. While him only (reluctantly) changing his mind because the witch happened to be someone he loved was hypocritical, it's realistic. We often fear the things we've been taught to shun until it applies to someone close to us. Until it becomes more personal.
Overall, I'm content enough with how this was done. Most of all, since most of Draculaura's friends still don't appear to know by the end of the episode, and witchcraft is still forbidden, I wonder how that will be handeled. I also wonder if Toralei's outing attempts will ever be mentioned and discussed.
That's all I have to say for now. Thank you if you got this far, and please, tell me your thoughts!

May I request a GN reader who's like draculaura from monster high! With malleus, riddle, azul, vil and idia. thanks <3
[S/o like Draculaura]
[RIDDLE,MALLEUS,AZUL,VIL,IDIA]
Riddle:
Tumblr media
-Someone to finally help Trey with Riddles temper.
-Since you have a calm nature, Riddle does seem a lot more lenient with you around which makes everyone in the Heartslabyul dorm appreciate you.
-Plus, your childish nature makes him feel like a child again too, so he can feel his childhood without the trauma which does make him feel overjoyed.
-He also feels like he can share anything with you and hopes you are the same with him.
Malleus:
Tumblr media
-You were pretty much everything he is in the inside; friendly, energetic but you did have your own qualities like being childish and sensitive.
- He is glad to have someone like you, an empathetic person who isn't scared of him.
-He does try to keep you away from Sebek though bit soon Sebek does start to respect since you do make Malleus satisfied.
-And Lilia and Silver are just thrilled that Malleus actually found someone.
Azul:
Tumblr media
-He gets comfortable with you pretty much right away.
-He likes pretty much everything about you.
-You were pretty much Jade and Floyd combined without the shady and violent personality.
-You can empathise and be treat sensitive topics accordingly which he is glad to know.
-It makes him comfortable with sharing his childhood traumas and his old physique.
Vil:
Tumblr media
-It may not look like it but he actually likes your fashion sense.
-It is too suitable for you and he likes it on you.
-He seems to even like your personality, you were bubbly but full of etiquette.
-Plus, you seemed to understand his grudge against Neige even more than Rook does and is actually sensitive about it which is what he needs.
Idia:
Tumblr media
-A classic duo, you two are.
-The extroverted and the introverted, opposites attract in this scenario.
-Idia doesn't hate you, maybe just the attention you bring.
-But if it is just you, he is ok with that.
-As you are a sensitive person, it is easy for you to empathise with him and make him feel comfortable in his surroundings which he truly is grateful for.

Hey guys! Haven’t posted in a while but I HAVE been working on some personal Monster High g3 rewrite stuff (mainly the design but..)! Designing them was fun and easy but coloring is a separate type of hell. I have designs that have okay coloring but I feel I could do better on (Howleen and Twyla), designs that I don’t really like the color scheme anymore (Lagoona), and designs I straight up want to redo (Kuma) but here are what I have! I’ll also add some stuff that I changed about them personality wise underneath their respective pictureee
(From left to right)
Draculaura, Howleen, Twyla
Tumblr media
Draculaura (sophomore) is still a workaholic obsessed with being study-filled in school and work life. For the most part, she didn’t change much, but she’s more prone to being passive aggressive because of the stress that school and work can bring to her. She’s working on the anger stuff but not so much with taking a break,, (the boo crew is trying to help her don’t worry)
Howleen is also mainly the same as g3. She has a really cute sibling relationship with Romulus and Barkimedes acting as their younger sister who believes she’s the older one (she’s a freshman in my version). She also has a sibling relationship with Clawdeen and helps Clawdeen get around the wolf pack easier. She has a fat crush on Twyla too urrm lesbian??!?? In my universe of g3, there’s also a specific way that the school does the wolf pack hierarchy whatever thing. I’m not going to get too into it, but Romulus is the leader (he’s a junior and lately there have been a gap between leader and second in command with senior and sophomores) and Howleen is under his command, taking notes from him and learning from him as well!
Twyla (freshman) doesn’t have much to her yet, but she’s really fun currently! I have thought of some little gags with her and she constantly having bugs in her hair and her eyelashes always have some dust on them. She usually hides away in the library and she has a fun dynamic with the moth teacher.
Romulus, Barkimedes
Tumblr media
I have so much with them I’m not even going to get into it all guys (I am biased and they are my absolute favorite). But they’re fun trust (I’ll make a separate post about what I’ve planned for them in the future maybe). Also they’re dating 😁 (both are juniors)
Lagoona, Gil, Frankie
Tumblr media
Lagoona (sophomore) had one of the most dramatic personality changes,,, She’s a lot more airheaded and bubbly now! She can make bubbles from her mouth, she runs a bit weird (it’s always a mindless side to side I love her sm), she speaks slow but not slow enough to where it’s hard to keep up, I honestly love her. She still can get a little crazy and is constantly meat hungry! She is also NOT stupid, she’s very smart and very athletic so don’t take her for granted! She’s apart of the swim team and does tennis as well! She also has a crush on Gil ^^
Gil (sophomore) didn’t get as drastic of a personality change, but his design is a curious one! He’s from a simple but respectably small pond and is based on bottom feeder fish (hence the long mouth and always looking like he’s frowning). Compared to Lagoona, he doesn’t have sharp teeth or claw-like fingers, he’s practically harmless honestly. He’s not that athletic but he obviously does and can swim. He’s a bit of a dork but also charismatic in some ways! I still need to think more about him but that’s what I have
Oh my lord Frankie (sophomore)! They also have a noticeable change, not too dramatic though. The main difference is their Mad Scientist alter ego “Plasma K” that spawn out of them whenever they work on a project or brainstorm. A wild and lightning energetic persona pops out believing that whatever they are making is their new Magnus Opus, the new technology that people will beckon and call after, the new GOD OF THE WORLD! This persona only lasts around 30 minutes to an hour, but my god do they make an impact on everyone!
Toralei, Kuma, Spectra
Tumblr media
Toralei (sophomore) hasn’t changed much at all. Something new I’ve added however is a simple rivalry with Romulus and her as well as friendship between her and Heath.
I gave Kuma (senior) a human design because I’ll be so for real it’s lame as hell that he’s straight up just some bear,,, like at least give him clothes. So for Kuma I plan on changing his design and clothing a bit when I redesign this redesign,, he’s based on Teddy bear-like clothes and cabin wear,, Also he likes rocks so much!! He wants to be those scientists that study rocks (I forgot what they were called).
Spectra is a character I’m having horrible trouble with tbh. She’s going to be apart of the morning news crew (when MHG3 adds Honey Swamp it’s OVER for all of you guys I love her I love her) as well as the newspaper club. She died around 1970s ish and has been apart of Monster High for a looong time, basically a permanent member. She is a teen (junior), she will always mentally be a teen. I’m wondering if I can make her lore and involvement in MH less convoluted, but this is what I currently have for her.
Purrsephone and Meowlody!
Tumblr media
I don’t have much for them yet,, sorry,, But they do have relationship stuff! At first, Romulus and Meowlody started on the wrong foot but after a while they become great friends! Purrsephone and Barkimedes were friends from the start despite never knowing each other lol. Purrsephone and Howleen become friends because while Purrsephone likes drums to become a professional later in life, Howleen likes them as a hobby! Another thing, their designs are kind of like “popstar” and “rockstar” which I find cute^^
Yeah that’s basically it I am SICK of writing but I really do hope you enjoy my additions!! If there are some criticisms you want to give, just comment and I’ll take them into consideration! Hopefully I’ll make another post with some of the other characters I didn’t show! Ok bye bye

Vampire Heart Draculaura Review Part 3
Tumblr media
Wait Draculaura, come back this way, we need to take a closer look and review your clothes! They’re all removable and separate pieces (a wonder for current day Mattel). And surprisingly fairly easy to undress and redress.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her whole outfit looks lightly inspired by Elissabat’s movie persona: Veronica Von Vamp and Draculaura’s flashback version of herself in “Why do Ghoul’s Fall in Love?” More close ups of all the individual clothing pieces under the cut, as these reviews are long suckers.
Tumblr media
She has small satin ribbons on both wrists and black lace (the same that is used for her neck and hems of both her dress and skirt). Out of curiosity I checked Haunte Couture Draculaura, and it is different.
Tumblr media
The rose on her chest is also made of metal (it doesn’t feel like plastic), another surprise from Mattel, and is a very light pink/lavender.
Tumblr media
Now let’s get a closer look at large bow that also works as a shawl (I love that idea).
Tumblr media
It’s so long and elegant, and like a longer version of Dawn of the Dance’s bow.
Tumblr media
Here is the bow off of her. It was very easy to remove.
Tumblr media
And here she is without her shawl/bow on:
Tumblr media
Another really cute look for her. She just looks so cohesive and well designed!! Let’s now take some closer looks at her large skirt.
Tumblr media
A close up of one of the panels to her skirt. The pearl beads are also the lightest of pale pink as well. I’m very glad to see their not glued on, but instead sewn. The panels really don’t feel like pleather, more of a rubbery plastic (hopefully they will not rot and peel). And there are two layers. It’s attached over this thicker plastic (vinyl?) that feels like one of those old blow up beach balls….or a pool toy. Hopefully it will not get sticky over time.
Tumblr media
There you can see the two separate layers.
Tumblr media
A better look at the scalloped edges and the ruffles layer over the edge (which is also a nicely hemmed, multi fabric piece).
Tumblr media
And the patterned ruffle laying back down, more cute bat designs. You can see how the nylon(?) pieces seems already kinda rough at the ends; like it was cut with a dull pair of scissors.
Tumblr media
It is connected to the “mini dress” in two spots with a little bit of thread that is easily cut. And has velcro in the back.
Tumblr media
The bell skirt off the doll. The vinyl is nice in that it helps the dress keep its full shape. Even if an actual fabric bell skirt would have been great to see as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A picture from above and underneath the skirt. The pattern closest around the doll looks like a bunch of bats, and I love that detail.
Tumblr media
Without the bell-skirt, you get Monster High’s more traditional mini dress silhouette. But even just these two pieces look so nice together.
Tumblr media
Another photo of her lovely face and a better look at her lightly puffed sleeves, and the black lace around her throat.
She’s also giving me some Duchess Swan vibes from Ever After High. Must be all the black and white.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, now just the lace jumpsuit. I love the extra details of black thread along the front. Such a lovely addition! Also, I am surprised at how quickly I have gotten used to Draculaura on her shorter, chubbier body in G3 because she almost looks out of proportion here. But, I do miss the more delicate hand molds used in G1 over G3….anyways back to her outfit…
Tumblr media
Just the mini dress and the bow together also don’t make a bad combination. I also didn’t want to keep removing her hands, so have a handless Draculaura in some of these photos.
Tumblr media
I literally couldn’t stop taking photos of her……
Okay, and here are all of her fabric clothing pieces lined up:
Tumblr media
In my fourth and final part of this long review, I’ll be comparing her to some other dolls in my collection, including some of her other collector dolls, and the actual Queen of the Vampires.

an extremely thorough review of the monster fest draculaura food truck playset
was getting something for my mom today for her birthday, and since now that im home, the target and the walmart actually close together, decided id see if they had Monster fest cleo and the draculaura playset. they had both! i picked them up with some birthday money i got.
this set retails at 59.99.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
up first: the box. i’ve seen some problems online me with this doll having her clothes stolen due to the open packaging that allows you to touch her without unboxing her. i respect the lack of plastic, but i doubt they’ll be packaging any future releases like this. the doll herself is near impossible to remove without scissors though.
i will say, she was quite easy to remove from the box. all the sticker decals are separate, and the instructions included have corresponding numbers telling you where to put them.
here’s all the parts the playset comes with. it was too large for my desk, so here it is on my bed lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
all sides before opening (with decals)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the interior of the food truck section. the little door can hold all of the included food accessories, luckily, so they won’t be loose.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the stage section. folded up, it’s like a dressing room, with slots to hold the guitar and microphone. folded down, it’s a stage
also, be careful before you commit to putting those stickers on. i put one of those mirrors on crooked and it did NOT peel off clean
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now onto the draculaura. she is certainly…. less extravagant than the other monster ball dolls.
she is 100% polypropylene. oof.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
face card. i actually love love love the makeup on this draculaura. green is a rarely used color on her, but it’s cute and subtle in this makeup! her headpiece is separate inside the box, and is not worn on her head in the box, and thus has no head tabs. it falls off pretty easy.
Tumblr media
my draculaura is missing her green necklace…. i couldn’t find it any of the bags of accessories she came with either….
Tumblr media
budget body. (this seems to be the norm with all playset dolls.) i honestly don’t miss the chest articulation that much, but she already feels a bit barebones….
Tumblr media Tumblr media
quick shoe check. i actually love these, they’re a lovely level of shiny irl, with really cute molded details. maybe they just need some green and pink paint to make those details pop?
Tumblr media
now to make some proportional comparisons! venus will be assisting today, since she’s one of the larger dolls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
unfortunately, there is no way i could find to make her sit nicely in the driver’s seat :(
Tumblr media
the pop up section of the food truck is accommodating to both of their heights though.
Tumblr media
draculaura on the stage. it’s extremely hard for her to hold the guitar due to it lacking a string or a second handrest. i bumped her and she dropped it again. also, why is it blue? doesn’t match anything on her outfit….
Tumblr media
i do enjoy the bat microphone, though! very cute
Tumblr media
ended up tucking the truck away down with my peach riots, but im sure i will eventually put it into storage. i dont have much interest in the playsets. i think maybe displaying some dolls on the stage could be cute though? (maybe catty….)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and that’s monster fest draculaura! honestly, if i wasn’t specifically a draculaura collector, i’d pass. the playset is huge, and the doll herself is not nearly as cool as the rest of the monster fest lineup. i do really want to give her a little tlc and some paint on those accessories to see if i can really make her shine though!

Frankie Stein's Home Ick by Ms. Kindergrubber Survival Guide
Tumblr media
Flyleaf
Frankie's comment (blue pen):
Hey everybody! If you haven't taken this class yet, I'm going to give you everything you need to know to survive Home Ick with Ms. Kindergrubber. If you follow my advice, you'll never fall apart in class.
Class Overview
Home Ick introduces students to an amazing world of practical skills and concepts that will continue to haunt them for the rest of their unlives. This class will cover but is not limited to the following subjects:
Basic potions, concoctions and mixtures
Proper use and care of cauldrons and ovens
Practical stitching and sewing techniques —Fave!
Issues and careers in Home Ick and the mad food sciences
Monster biology and food choices
Many monsters that haven't taken Home Ick believe that it is an easy class. That could not be further from the truth! Ms. Kindergrubber loves, loves, loves this subject, and she'll expect you to love it as much as she does. If you think you can just drive-through and order up an "A," you'll be in trouble, and that's why I'm here to help.
Tumblr media
Lecture
The instructor will explain the techniques necessary to completing the student's weekly assignments.
Basically Ms. K. shows us how to do something and we're expected to do it the same way… the exact same way.
Tests
Both written and practical exams will be used as a measuring tool to assess a student's comprehension of the presented information.
Ms. K. likes to use her recipes as tests to make sure you take good notes when she gives out the recipe during lecture cause she makes you taste test everything! Spectra added too much frog hair to a recipe we were being tested on and it made her smell like burnt popcorn wrapped in spoiled cabbage.
Yuck.
Tumblr media
Supplies
Notebook and pen
Apron —If you don't bring your own apron Ms. K. has box of loaners and they are totally nasty.
Hairnet —(There is no way to look fashionable in a hair net… I'm sorry it just cannot be done.)
Fireproof oven mitts
Thimble
Other Things You Need To Know
–On the day you make dragon butter, make sure you don't eat before you come to class. Just trust me on this.
–Prepare for broken nails, head-to-toe soot, and a week of lectures on oven safety. Oh, and don't ever ask Ms. K. to check if your oven is hot enough. Totally freaks her out for some reason.
–If you think this is just a class for the ghouls, you'd be dead wrong. Deuce was in my class, and he was a total rock star when it came to the cooking part of the class. His recipes were the only ones that Ms. K. would actually try herself. She made the rest of us try them out on each other. Deuce tried to say he just got lucky, but I don't believe it. Besides that, there are usually four times as many ghouls as guys… just saying.
Tumblr media
–You'll get to spend a week in the creepateria helping to prepare and serve food. It's a shockingly difficult job, especially when you think about having to come up with meals that appeal to as many different monsters as possible. That's the reason all the choices are either gravy brown or slightly gray. They have a little bit of everything thrown in them, so there'll be at least one taste that's familiar to every monster. On the last day you work in the creepateria, the lurch ladies make their specialties just for the class, and they can really cook! Plus after having to ladle a mile in their hairnets makes you a lot less likely to complain about the food in the creepateria.
–Do not use Draculaura as an example of a monster that doesn't eat what they're "supposed" to. It makes Ms. K. cranky, and I think she keeps a dirty cauldron set aside just for monsters that bring this up.
–Every monster has to do a class project for the Home Ick open cottage. That's when parents and other students get to come in and check out all our mad skills. You won't be shocked to know that I chose a sewing project. I even know some knots that Ms. K. doesn't, and I got extra credit for demonstrating them to the class. You probably don't want to choose the life-size gingerbread house as your project, though, because, for some reason, Ms. K. is really, really picky about how it needs to be done.
Hope this info charges you up for the class.
Love, Frankie

Faculty
Ms. Kindergrubber began her career in the Home Ick sciences when it was just a cottage industry. Eventually though, so many students found themselves on the path to her sweet little place in the country that she found herself pushed into teaching. She has authored several cookbooks and her Black Forest cake is simply to die for. —YUMMM!!!!
You should know that Ms. K. does not see very well but she hears everything and her nose is better than Clawdeen's on a full moon.

My mom loves Monster High, and helping her collect the dolls from the original run was one of the most fun ongoing projects I ever did with her (my years of collecting Transformers and other toylines really paid off).  The new generation just started and they’ve really varied the body types up while keeping the monstrous elements that made the original dolls so fun, which is great because now my mom gets to collect dolls and have fun again.
ANYWAY, the new generation of Monster High dolls is just starting so it was easy for my mom to snap up one of each character so far, with very little choices to choose from.  But there did happen to be two different Draculauras available - the standard mainline doll, and one with a different outfit that comes exclusive with the “Goreganizer” doll clothes and accessory storage case shaped like a coffin.
Today I snagged the Goreganizer up for my mom for Christmas, knowing she had no plans of getting it herself because she wouldn’t want to pay $40 for an outfit, a plastic case, and a spare copy of a doll she already owns, but that she would enjoy having the outfit and the plastic case.
...but that leaves me with a spare and embarrassingly nude doll.
Ok, so, here’s my secret: I love Monster High too, and helping my mom collect them was a way to vicariously enjoy the line myself without having to devote a portion of my already cramped storage space to yet another toyline.  But there’s always been a part of me that wishes I had my own set of Monster High dolls too.  So I’m keeping the spare Draculaura, but now I’m in the bind of having to figure out how to clothe her since I'm giving the outfit she came with away as a Christmas gift.
Enter Etsy.
Now, as I wrote above, the new Monster High dolls have different body types, and in Draculaura’s case they made her both shorter and noticeably chubbier than the other girls.  She’s a adorable, but this means old monster high clothes won’t fit her - she’s just too thicc.  So if I want an outfit for her, I have to either get another Draculaura (which would mean I have ANOTHER naked spare in need of clothes, which doesn’t solve my problem at all) or find someone who has made custom Draculaura clothes.
...or, rather, clothes for another doll that’s as chubby as she is.
Tumblr media
I’m aware of OMG dolls because a lot of the kids at my daycare play with them, and frankly I find them kind of repulsive in pretty much all respects.  But today I’m thankful for them, because they’ve existed long enough for doll customizers to give them some unique fashion options, provided you’re willing to pay for the craftsmanship.
Tumblr media
And as one wonderful customer showed, the clothes made for an OMG doll fit VERY WELL on the newly chubby Draculaura.
So, once the outfit ships and arrives here, I’m going to have my own Monster High doll dressed up in the kind of gothic finery that Nadja from What We Do In the Shadows would approve of.  And that’s just peachy keen!

So Kyle Selig, A.K.A. Mr Komos is 30, so if I want to shoehorn Jackson and Holt in G3, I’m gonna assume Mr. Komos is around the same age, as it would be relatively easy to give him an older sister, or a bit more complicated, but make him the older brother of Jackson Holt.
Tumblr media
The Older sister way makes it a bit easier, as it is heavily implied that Komos grew up without his father, so it would be harder to justify a younger sibling more than a decade younger, specially when it’s specifically stated that the original Hyde was pretty much lynched by humans...
Tumblr media
But with an older sister, it could be that, just like Komos was born as a “Hyde” without a “Jekyll” side, his sister was born as a “Jekyll” without a “Hyde” side. Since Komos says he’s “Eddy Hyde Jr.”, I’m gonna call this older sister Henrietta Jekyll... because I can.
So, yeah, she somehow meets a Fire elemental dude, she gets pregnant and Jackson and Holt are born.
In a reversal of roles, Holt starts attending Monster High, hiding his Jackson side, since they’re aware of the hate between humans and monsters.
Ironically, he gets targeted when people realize he’s the nephew of Mr. Komos, who previously tried to destroy the school. Deuce decides to give him a chance and befriends him explaining the whole thing, as he realizes Holt didn’t even know he had an uncle.
He later meets Clawdeen and decides to come out as half human too, introducing Jackson to them.
Shenannigans ensue (Jackson takes an interest in Draculaura’s witchcraft, as he thinks that would make him a monster too), and accidentaly free Mr. Komos, who tries to rampage again, but learning he has a nepehew (who restored him to life), Clawdeen manages to convince him of let go of his anger

with the drop of the addams family skullector set, i checked mercari out of curiosity yesterday and just now…
SIGH
why buy from scalpers ?? :(( why are there listings going for $170+ and SOLD ??!! that’s double the price !! they were $90 !!!!!
i know it’s so easy to say “where else are we suppose to get them from” — like obviously resellers BUT you don’t have to pay those atrocious prices. even if you have the money, SAVE IT !! the extra money you’re putting into that set can be used for a different doll you want !! (even more so with dolls being pumped out so quickly and close together)
like, please be patient. if you can wait for release dates, you can wait for prices to lower. if no one buys from scalpers, they’ll have no choice but to lower their prices cuz they’re not gonna want to sit around with boxes upon boxes of unsold dolls they DO NOT WANT
we know this works. the proof? the bride of chucky skullector set. a lot of people didn’t like them so there was less chance of them dumping $200+ on them. with no one buying them, look at them now. they’re selling for retail price, sometimes even LESS. initially when they came out there were fresh ebay listings that had them for $300+ so we know not buying works !!
again, please don’t buy from scalpers, they’ll lower their prices if you don’t. there’s no reason to pay so much money. this hobby is suppose to be fun and NOT expensive. and it really isn’t. save for dolls and buy what you like. you’re not gonna like or need every release. i know i didn’t (lenore, outta fright operetta, creature skullector), so i skipped those and feel like i missed nothing. for play line dolls, they’re widely available for over a year and sales happen sometimes. it’s okay to wait !! when you were a kid, you didn’t get every doll, so why do you want every single one now ?? you don’t . do you actually want that doll, or is it just hype ?? if i went by hype, i’d have every single G3 doll and that’s… a lot. way too many, so buy what you like !!
(i honestly wouldn’t have bought every G3 draculaura doll if buying her clothes and accessories separately wasn’t for a total of $30+. at that point it’s cheaper to get a new doll. we’re in dire need of fashion packs >.< i just want her to have a cute wardrobe T_T but that’s beside the point)
there’s no reason to pay ridiculous prices for a doll. take haunt couture draculaura for example. she was $75. she’s going for $300+ so people say that’s her value. i personally believe that “value” isn’t real. it’s just something we made up along the way. HC drac has a value of $75 cuz that’s what she costed. i see listings going (and sold unfortunately) for $300+ and she’s NOT in box or her box is scuffed, or her stand is broken. like be so fr. her being out of box, box is scuffed or stand is broken… by this logic shouldn’t that decrease her value ?? out of box ?? $60. scuffed box ?? $65. broken stand or missing pieces ?? $50 (or less depending how much she’s missing tbh). why ?? cuz if you had bought her brand new for $75, she would’ve came with everything and in her box and a less chance of her box being damaged (it happens but not always). she would be fine, so why pay $300+ for an incomplete doll ?? even brand new in box, she was $75. maybe a little more cuz collector and so people get back what they initially spent with taxes and shipping. anything else is overboard (even more so when the rest of the dolls from the same line do NOT go for that much). scalpers see people are willing to pay these prices, so they keep doing what they’re doing. please stop encouraging them. scalpers set the price and collectors perpetuate it
“some releases only increase over time” — because people won’t stop paying those prices. the more we pay, the more prices rise. they’ll keep pushing it because they can and we let them know it’s okay. i hate that people miss out on drops of dolls they actually love and want because scalpers buy them all. sure you could argue that’s no one’s fault and it isn’t… until we give into buying from them. again, we let them think it’s okay, so they keep doing it. missing out is already bad enough, but knowing you missed out because a fellow collector who loves the dolls got them over a scalper is less painful and we’re happy for our fellow collector. a collector having a doll isn’t gonna make another angry. it’s the scalpers who do. that’s different
point is: this hobby should be fun and not cost you a pretty penny and requires patience. desperation is not an excuse to pay those prices. again, if you can wait for release dates, you can wait for prices to lower

so i had heard that some of the newer releases of Monster High dolls were being made with a different type of hair fiber and that a lot of people were upset about this.
i did not, until last night, realize exactly how bad it is.
i had some of the original MH dolls as a kid, but i wasnt able to tap into the collecting hobby until i had become an adult, years after my old toys had already been donated (a tragedy, but not really the point) and before the new reboot was launched. so my doll collecting hobby really began with Rainbow High. i loved that they came with a second outfit, they had long, soft, styleable hair, and they had substance to their bodies! unlike barbie dolls, RH has curves and weight in your hand when you hold them. i thought that was awesome.
anyway. i knew that RH didnt use the saran hair that barbie often used, and that mattel used for MH back in the day and in the reboot. being new to the concept of different types of hair, it didnt matter much to me. i could see the pros and cons of both saran and the type of hair RH used.
now, recently, i tried to buy Skulltimate Secrets Draculaura for my roommate for their birthday, and amazon let me wait a whole month for them to ship it before saying, just kidding, we dont have it, heres your money back. RUDE AS HELL!
well fine. now the SS Fearidescent is out, so ill just get them that one instead. i see in the reviews that her hair type is different, they voice disappointment but ultimately shes still cute and theres not a lot that we, as consumers, can do about it except maybe complain.
and im thinking, whatever, im used to RH hair anyway, and yeah its more staticky but its still pretty soft, so how bad could it be?
well, she came in the mail yesterday, and we were pretty disappointed at just how bad it could be.
ive come to realize that RH hair is not made of polypropylene, the new material theyre giving MH as of this line (ive heard that theyve given g3 clawdeen this type of hair before, which is a whole other can of worms that isnt one of the points of this post), but for rainbow high they generally use Nylon (correct me if im wrong) which is still cheaper and less authentic to real hair than saran, but is still generally pretty soft.
ive never had a doll with pin straight hair (and almost no styling product) feel this BAD in my hands. its coarse, lightweight, and easy to frizz, just from a quick finger comb. i soaked her in hot water and conditioner, and shes only a little bit softer.
i had my partner, who, besides being supportive of my hobbies and listening to me talk about it, knows next to nothing about the differences between types of dolls, feel the difference between the first g3 Drac, RH Karma Nichols, and Fearidescent Drac. on a few quick comparative touches, they noted that saran feels the most like real hair, while RH nylon feels kinda soft but not quite as nice. then they touched new Drac, and all they said was, "ah. depression."
i didnt have my hopes up at all but my expectations were still shattered. i legitimately didnt realize it was this bad. the downgrade is Immense. ive seen people rag on RH hair, and this is WORSE. i seriously cant believe how much worse it is. i didn't think mattel would make a $30 Beloved Brand Name doll with all those accessories and give her DOLLAR STORE KNOCKOFF HAIR, but i guess thats on me for holding a corporation to any sort of production standard in 2023 🙃
anyway, all this is to say, hair fiber snobs, im so sorry and i get it now. this shit sucks.

Under the cut is a post talking about the designs I made for this Halloween post right here.
Alright I'll explain the thought process behind these, in order in which I designed them in.
Tumblr media
1.) Charlie
For Charlie I was torn between two ideas, cowboy or pirate. Due to my bias for cowboys I was leaning more towards that but eventually a certain someone, you know who you are, I ain't gonna tag you >:D reconvinced me to go for the pirate idea due to the thief part and then I realized that an eye patch would cover her right eye so I was sold. Designing her costume was pretty easy to be honest, I just kept adding stuff to make her look cool. Also, I had to make a Hawkshaw reference, I couldn't possibly resist once I thought of it. I'll probably draw her as a cowboy eventually though. Also, I let her have sharp teeth in the final drawing, as a treat.
Tumblr media
2.) Cursed Treasure
Due to the lyrics I came up with I needed to give Charlie some sorta cursed treasure, so I thought a cursed golden Barnaboo statue would look cute and do the trick. The eyes and bow are meant to be gemstones and I made the face looks off so that the cursed part is a bit obvious.
Tumblr media
3.) Milo
I actually sketched Charlie's and Milo's designs and finished them in the same day. Milo's was a quick one, I knew immediately that he had to be a vampire cuz he would definitely be something that's somewhat elegant. The hair looked a bit weird to me so I put the sunglasses there to cover it up a bit, and honestly he's pulling it all off better than what I expected. Also his teeth are perfectly goofy enough as to where I can't take him 100% seriously, which is how it should be.
Tumblr media
4.) Parasol
The parasol was an afterthought after I had already finished Milo's design. It's inspired by the parasols that Draculaura and Poppy Pointer have. Although I screwed it up by making the handle black instead of white in the final drawing, I was going to fix it but when I started doing that I realized that there's already a lot of white in his design so I kept the black handle.
Tumblr media
5.) Mina
For Mina I had to go for the obvious option, a witch, mostly due to lore reasons. It's canon that Mina insists on being a witch every year for Halloween because she told the culdesac kids that "Witches show their true form on Halloween." and she has to keep up that story, although her mom doesn't want her to have the same outfit each year, so she makes a different witch outfit each time. It's a pretty regular outfit with a witch hat slapped on top, but for Mina it perfectly does the trick.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
6.) Molly and Mr. T. Bear
It was all fun and games until I started to design Molly's costume. The first idea I had for Molly was for her to be the Tooth fairy. Perfect idea, right? It's somewhat sleep related, Mr. T. Bear can be a tooth and it'll look cute. That's what I told myself. After 3 days of furiously looking through the web trying to find some sorta inspiration or color pallete I actually like, I gave up on the idea. I hated all of the concepts I made to the point where I got tired of the idea. Thing is... I didn't know what other costume to give her. The only ideas I could come up with were: a bed bug, sleeping beauty and Molly and Mr. T. Bear as each other. I didn't like any of those enough, so, in a moment of desperation I asked my friend for help. She told me that she noticed a pattern between the costumes I picked, that all of them were some sorta villans. Vampire, pirate, witch... she was right... I didn't do that on purpose. If she hadn't told me I would've never noticed it... Anyways, she basically suggested that Molly could maybe be a wolf. I was like oh she could be a werewolf because of the full moon and she's a moon you get the gist. And then, later on, when I was looking through the web I came across a drawing of the wolf from Little Red Riding Hood dressed as the grandma. That's when it clicked in my head. Molly as the wolf and Mr. T. Bear as Little Red Riding Hood. I was sold and I ended up liking the designs and finishing them on first try. The friend mentioned here wanted to get credited this way, since she doesn't have any socials.
And that's about it! As much as I dreaded the process because it took me ages, I do think the effort paid off. I'll definitely draw these again! :>

Welcome to the first installment of:
Would It Work?
In which various possibilities of ships (platonic and romantic) are discussed and rated for no other reason but that it will be fun.
First up we have: Draculaura and Twyla
What would you call it? Dryla? Twylaura? Boogie Bat? Actually Twylaura sounds really cute.
So, why this one? Because Twyla stopped Draculaura from using magic by twirling her around and that moment has been living rent free in my head ever sense. Like girl is reserved as heck but for this one moment she had rizz and no one can tell me otherwise.
Tumblr media
I got this screenshot from YouTube, I kinda forgot where. I think it was one of Peachy’s videos.
Moving on, have you ever noticed that when Twyla speaks and is a focus she’s soft. But when she stops being a focus she goes from soft to these eyes so sharp they look like they’ll cut you if you get too close. I can’t help but see background Twyla as a force to be reckon with and I don’t know if it’s just me but I realize it’s the eyes.
Anyway back to Twylaura.
I think it’s sweet how Draculaura remembered what happened in that grave school field trip. When you’re that young it’s easy to forget others and focus on your own enjoyment but she not only noticed what happened to Twyla but remembered it even though they aren’t exactly friends. Draculaura is a sweet heart, even I would fall for her.
I think the way they would get together is Draculaura would go out of her way to make sure Twyla is comfortable whenever she’s around. And I mean so out of her way that even Twyla notices which leads to a share of feelings.
If there was a competition they would be that couple who would win most wholesome and pure in school. They’ll take turns carrying each other’s books and Twyla will even offer to carry Draculaura in bat form whenever she looks like she’s getting too tired from all her other duties. Draculaura will insist she’s fine but Twyla notices these things and the bat is not getting out of it, even a little bit of rest is still rest.
The only downside to this couple is that you would need a magnifying glass to see them coming. These two are so unbelievably small and take such little space that Frankie and Clawdeen have lost them in a crowd before. And said crowd was the lunch line in the creepateria. Please watch where you step, lest you want to accidentally squish them.
Overall I’d give this couple an 8 out of 10.
