Something fun I made to poke fun at something that bugs me. Bree has super speed. She should NOT be wearing heels into battle. No one should wear heels into battle. Heels are hard enough to walk in, let along run in. Plus, heels are bad for you. They hurt your ankles, your feet, legs, and even you back. Some times even up to the neck. Heels are not good for a person. Article on how far up heels can affect a person. Plus, it’s really easy for a person to sprained their ankle in heels. Bree using super speed with heels would have a lot of sprained ankles.
Tumblr media
What’s even worse is that Bree in season one version of the mission suit was wearing sneakers. Even her mentor suit on the island was combat boots? Why on earth was the main mission suit in Elite Force and season two onwards had heels?! They are horrible for people. It’s just stupid to wear heels in general due the damage they cause (in my opinion). A speeder is just worse off to wear heels. I’ve seen the Flash TV show do this as well with its female speeders. In fact, most live action female superheroes seem to have to wear heels or lifts.

Behold my essay on why plp shouldn’t be sleeping on the ship involving Doll’s parents.
Ok ok but like- ISTG doll’s folks are driving me crazy HNNNGNGNFJF
(Btw watch of all if this get absolutely ripped to pieces by future canon)
Even we have very few info of Yeva, in the pictures she has appeared she looks distressed, paranoid, anxious and doesn’t seem to have the same social skills and relaxed vibes as Nori. She gives me the impression she was recluse, shy even or standoff-ish
For all we know she could have a drastic change of character after the core collapse.
What am saying girlie definitely developed all kinds of fucked up issues.
ok but like the fact that Yeva decided to stay and live with and make a family with her parter got me thinking
Like girl witnessed and lived THE HORRORS and if my theory is correct, she ALSO got momentarily possessed by the AS causing the Site-48 “incident”. (Which I theorize she created a massive black hole on the site similar to how the AS controlling Uzi’s hand did it on the elevator in EP6)
Her first meeting with her-now-husband was literally traumatizing and was probably very awkward (group photo after the core colapse in EP4)
Tumblr media
They saw something, and it wasn’t good news.
But after that, like- how did it go down?
Bc I speculate Yeva’s husband knows a bit more surrounding the AS:
-like I mentioned before, his overall expression in the group picture shown in EP4 post core collapse alongside Yeva’s expression seems to imply they saw or witnessed smth horrifying around the camp 98.7 which left them scarred
-the fact that Tessa’s quote in EP6 implies the idea that he is also infected (Either he may be a runaway experiment or he wasn’t necessarily involved with CFL and somehow had the AS, or maybe the quote is a red herring)
“She reckons the humans did something to her folks down there, gave them a sickness she inherited”.
Like, the idea that her partner saw past the horrors, the AS, the shady things Yeva was involved, and just- decided to be a couple, and saw yeva…as an individual, not a danger, not a monster, not a sinner, not some lab rat, just, her, a sentient being capable of feeling just as he is.
He saw her as “Yeva”, not as “048”, not someone whose just her “sickness”
Like the fact that YEVA was also to look past her traumas and her knowledge of the danger of the AS to live and become her partner’s wife
Just the idea of them going, “you know what? I want you as my partner, live in a place that we can call home, and raise our own kid”
Its just- *screams*
also Yeva would actually be introduced to the concept of home, not a house, a home
SHE FINALLY HAD SOMETHING SHE COULD CALL A HOME
AND SHE ACTUALLY HAD A PERSON WHERE SHE COULD PROBABLY FEEL COMFORTABLE AROUND (we don’t know exactly how Nori’s and Yeva’s relationship went, they could have gone through drastic changes)
SHE COULD FINALLY LIVE, NOT SURVIVE, SHE COULD JUST- LIVE, NOT HAVING FIGHT FOR HER SURVIVAL
CAN YOU JUST IMAGINE THE FACT THESE TWO DESPITE THE HORRORS, DESPITE THE AS, DESPITE EVERYTHING THEY FELL FOR EACHOTHER AND THEY GOT TO THE POINT THEY WANTED A KID?!?!? BE A FAMILY?!?!? HAVE A PLACE TO LIVE TOGETHER!??!?
AND WHEN THEY WENT OUTSIDE BEFORE DEATH THEY DECIDED TO GO TOGETHER!?!?!? (If my theory that they died outside is true)
THEY PROBABLY KNEW THE DANGER BUT THEY WENT “we’re gonna do this together” THEY COULD HAVE LOWER THE CHANCES OF RISK AND DEAL WITH THE UPCOMING FUCKED UP SHIT ON THEIR OWN BUT THEY WENT TOGETHER
Tumblr media
LOOK ME IN THE EYES AND TELL ME THAT ISNT LOVE
(Imagine if it’s later revealed that they are actually a super fucked up couple- or just created a family for any other reason but wasn’t out of sentiment)
Me when I realize my favorite ship that is actually canon has barely any content or fan-content:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I want to claim myself as CEO of this goddam ship if it blows up in the fandom after future canon info.
Bc bro I shipped them when there wasn’t a single edit of them and when there was like 1 or maybe even 0 fanfics of them on AO3. Bro there wasn’t even fanart of them.
Bro I have doodles of them, created AU’s involving them, I have made moodboards, stimboards, have made HCs of them, made fan desings and plan to make fanart of them.
I am so normal about them I swear-

Chapter Sixteen under the cut :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Becoming Robin had been a dream. It hadn’t been something entirely positive at first, and he’d struggled. Some days felt harder than others. But having the chance to change what it meant to be the Boy Wonder? That had been the dream.
Being from the alley had meant a lot for kids like him, especially after his mom died. It meant that most adults weren’t to be trusted. It meant cold nights and shoplifting food and medicine when he needed it. It meant stealing tires until he was old enough to be trusted to do other things.
It especially meant avoiding any ‘hero’ types that thought dropping kids off in the foster system was helping. It wasn’t helping. It was taking them from everything they’d ever known, leaving behind siblings and family members for no good reason and going somewhere that, no matter how they tried to paint it, was worse than living on the streets. Most of the foster families he’d ever had were just power-hungry adults that thought that every foster kid they had should be kissing their heals just because they decided they knew better.
He changed that. Batman and Nightwing knew that the kids Jason interacted with couldn’t be touched, not without him losing his mind. They’d only tried once, when he was shiny and new. After weeks of tantrums and yelling and sneaking around, he’d tracked every kid down to make sure they were alright and broke the ones that didn’t want to be there out. Alfred made them have a talk after that stunt. He chewed out Dick and Bruce, to his surprise, and they compromised. The alleys were Jason’s, for the most part. Bruce would help any kid that wanted out, and vetted the foster homes they went to himself, with Jason helping.
The people of the alley loved him. He knew them, he breathed them- he'd been marked in a way that was irreversible and he wore it with pride. It’d been a dream come true to protect them, to serve them; that was the part he’d loved the most.
He’d never once wondered if it was worth it. Questioned if he was making a mistake. He never thought he’d be wondering that because of a situation he was in; he always thought he’d be wondering that one day because of a casualty or something.
Sitting here, curled on a cot with a twin he’d never known existed until a few weeks ago and hadn’t met until... a day ago? Several days ago?
Time was so weird here. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he knew it was a technique in torture to deny your victim access to time. He’d always thought that was stupid. Surely it couldn’t have been that bad. He’d never known how disorientating it would feel.
He looked over to Phantom, who was still asleep. It’s been... at least a day, he thinks, since they were given the tablets and Phantom got muzzled. They’ve healed nearly completely; even the bruise on Phantom’s head he’d come in with that had remained stubborn had dissipated. His hand healed, which was a little freaky but he’d take it. The only thing that they’d done is have Agent J come in periodically to take photos and leave.
He thinks, vaguely, somewhere in him he should be grateful that nothing had happened since then. He was relieved, somewhere deep down, but mostly he was suspicious and terrified. It felt like they were constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop. Every time they picked up the jingle of keys was like hearing something growling in the bushes during a camping trip. Would this be the time? Is this how it ends? Would he ever get to say goodbye to his loved ones?
He held Phantom’s hand tight. He’d been trying to reach Ellie, but he hadn’t even gotten a message back yet. He was beginning to worry about her. Hell, Jason had never met the little girl and he was worried about her.
He heard the jingle. He quickly shook Phantom awake as the doorknob started to move.
Phantom had already gotten better at bolting up and pretending he wasn’t rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. Jason would probably feel bad about that if it wasn’t such a valuable resource.
Agent J walked in with Agent V in tow. They looked at the boys, their hands linked, bodies tensed.
“We are moving you,” they stated coldly. “You’ve been cleared for further testing.”
Agent V walked over, holding two chains. She clipped them to their collars, holding them both in one hand. She began walking.
They had no choice but to follow.
Disbelief-Annoyance-Humiliation
“Same,” he thought to himself. Didn’t Phantom say simple words could travel through this link?
He got an idea. He concentrated hard.
Woof
Shock-Amusement-Disbelief
He could feel Phantom shaking with restrained laughter. Jason didn’t dare look over at him, attempting to control himself.
The agents led them through what Jason suspected was designed to be an intentionally confusing winding path of hallways. Every step brought more dread pooling into his gut, even despite his attempt at humor. He had a sneaking suspicion Danny felt similar. It was never a good sign to have two heroes getting the same bad feeling.
When they got to the room the agents were leading them to, they saw two different cots. He recognized several medical machines, like EKG’s and heart monitors and I.V. bag infusers ready and set up. There were gauze and suture kits lined up on the table. They had a covered cart of unknown medical supplies at the ready. They had a crash cart sitting to one side.
He really didn’t have a good feeling about this.
 “You’ve healed enough that we feel it wise to start testing your more human sides,” Agent J was saying. “Subject F, over here,” they patted the cot to the left, “Subject T is over here,” they pointed to the right.
They looked at each other. Phantom shrugged and went over to the left cot. Jason went over to the right.
The chain yanked uncomfortably until Agent J removed it with a huff. “Honestly, Agent V, how many times do I need to remind you? You need to be anticipating what I want and displays of negligence to your post like this are unbecoming, especially for an agent of your standing.”
Agent V noticeably twitched. “Yes, boss. My apologies,” they grit out.
Jason took a deep breath, looking over to Phantom. They didn’t know what to expect out of this.
Agent J started digging into the cart, audibly shifting things around. When they popped back up, Agent V had a tape recorder out and ready.
They smiled. “See! Was that so hard, Agent V? That’s all I ask; for you to anticipate instead of sitting there looking, well... as pretty as you can.”
Jason took a deep breath. That was a low blow. How did these guys treat actual people if this was how they were treating each other?
Agent V apparently felt similar because she growled a bit under her breath as Agent J snatched the ancient device out of her hand. Didn’t Dick have one of those when he was a kid? Gross.
“Log 39 on subjects F and T,” they stated, “This is Agent J speaking, here with Agent V. We’ve gotten the green light for several experiments we’ve been wanting to run. We will be doing several small-scale experiments today, results pending. The results of those experiments will influence the total number of experiments and the intensity. We have agents L through P on standby in case there are any more incidents, as these two seem to be prone to when under duress.
“The first experiment today will be using sanguis surrexerunt, commonly known as ‘blood blossoms’. The flower is rare but has been used throughout history to ward off ghosts. Previous testing has proven that the rumored effects are true, having caused several subjects to destabilize in the past. What we are looking for today is what effects, if any, they have on the hybrids and whether they are able to withstand the effects of the flower or not.”
DANGER-DANGER-DANGER
Jason looked at Phantom as the agent kept talking. He was near hyperventilating, eyes wide and glassy.
He wondered what that was about as he watched Agent V out of the corner of his eye. She took the sealed container Agent J was holding and opened it.
His eyes started to water. Phantom looked like he was having flashbacks, his eyes wide. He was rocking back and forth on the cot.
“Subjects seem to be in no physical duress,” Agent J muttered. “I will continue recording when the experiment is over. I will be giving an oral report, however my findings will be marked down as they happen, as per standard protocol.”
Agent V brought a table over to put between them, setting the container down.
“Alright, Agent V, you go get the next experiment prepped. I will sit here and continue monitoring the subjects.”
Indignity-Annoyance-Calm
DANGER-DANGER-DANGER
Jason frowned. Calm-Safe-Reassurance
He fought the urge to look back over to Phantom, training his gaze on the agents. Maybe if he could unnerve them...
Agent J sat in the chair, making observations. The flower had been a minor annoyance, but so far had not caused any adverse effects on him.
He heard a whimper from Phantom and caved. He looked towards the other boy, curious.
He was rocking back and forth, distressed. He looked like he was going to start crying at any second.
The agent did not react.
“Phantom?” He finally asked. “Are you okay?’
Phantom shook his head frantically. Out of the corner of his eye he saw the agent rise.
They grabbed his hair as he whined pitifully. They shined a light in his eyes. They wrenched his mouth open, shining it down his throat. They hummed.
“You’re fine. Stop faking a more severe reaction, you’re skewing my results.”
Jason scoffed quietly. He reached out-
“Stop that,” they smacked his hand away. “We can’t have you two attached at the hip. If you don’t stop it, we’ll have no choice but to separate you,” they said sternly. “No matter what the department head thinks about it,” they muttered under their breath.
Jason fought the urge to yell. Calm-Reassurance-Protective
DANGER-DANGER-DANGER
About five minutes passed. Danny hadn’t really calmed down, but he was doing a remarkable job pretending he had. It was like everything had turned off. He looked like Dick did the day he showed up at the manor at 4 in the morning after his first outing with a student he’d trained. He’d had the same look in his eyes; Dick didn’t react to anything for hours. It had been terrifying then and it wasn’t any better now.
The agent looked down at their watch and marked something down. “Alright,” they mumbled, “It’s time to move on to round two.”
They grabbed two of the flowers.
The deep red of the middle reminded him of blood. He supposed that was how it got its name. The dark center faded into a deep, beautiful purple color that morphed into black at the edges of the petals. It was vaguely shaped like a rose.
It was beautiful. He supposed he could see why people would like it; it smelled vaguely like honey and something sickly sweet. He bet it would be delicious.
The agent placed a flower in front of each boy. Something in him made his breath hitch.
It felt like he was being stared down by a predator. He figured Phantom’s constant stream of DANGER-DANGER-DANGER was warranted based on his own primal instinct.
It was only through rigorous training by Batman that he managed to control his breathing. He forced himself to breathe normally; he could tell his airways were still clear, but snot was starting to run out of his nose. He could still feel his eyes water; he wished he had his cape to wipe his eyes with. He settled for his glove.
The agent watched him and took notes. The longer they spent there the more he felt like an animal in a cage. Sometimes he felt like they were a rare species of ape at the zoo being ogled at; other times he felt akin to a lab rat, being poked and prodded. He was vaguely scared he was going to wake up to a clone one of these days.
He swallowed. If these people figured out clones were a thing they’d likely have a big, big problem on their hands. He hoped they never did.
Hope had never gotten him very far in life. He could only pray it worked this time.
It was boring, sitting there. He tried to think of something entertaining. He thought of the fic he had started writing way before he got sick; he wondered what his followers would think of this update. He wondered what the baby bird was doing. He was certain Dick wasn’t going to be happy with him.
His only comfort was knowing that this (Maybe? Probably?) would’ve happened anyways. Even if he wouldn’t have gotten captured if he hadn’t gone out, Danny probably would’ve. Regardless of what happened to them, he was glad he was here with him. That they were together. He could’ve lived his whole life without this.
The thought made something in his chest pang. He... wasn’t sure how to say it, but he loved his brothers. He couldn’t imagine his future without either of them being there. Having attachments had always been terrifying to him when he was younger, especially after his mom, but some things are just... natural. People get attached. Attachment was to be a person.
Danny sat on the bed, staring at the blossom. He looked at it like it was something much, much worse than a flower. Jason wouldn’t doubt it if that were true.
Once again, the agent looked down at their watch and wrote something down. “Pick up the flowers,” they ordered.
Jason watched Danny- no, Phantom, as he reached out a shaking hand. Once he was certain the other boy was following the direction, he followed it himself. He got the sense that he was purposely touching an electric fence or trying to pet an aggressive tiger.
He looked over to Phantom, who had the blossom in between two fingers. He held it as far away from the rest of him as he could, arm resting on his knee. Jason had the vague sense he should’ve been smarter than cupping it in one hand, bringing it closer to inspect it.
He looked down at the center of the flower, spotting the dark seeds within. They looked more like poppy seeds than that of a rose bush. He vaguely expected his hand to start tingling.
His cheek itched. His legs and hands followed suit. It was like he was being tickled everywhere all at once; he fought the urge to scratch. He squirmed.
He finally caved, scratching his right leg first. He saw Phantom out of the corner of his eye doing the same, starting with his chest.
The agent started writing faster, gaining a small grin. It was like they enjoyed this. They probably did.
He tried to wipe his nose and scratch his scars at the same time. He nearly dropped the blood blossom as he did so.
“Keep a hold of that, subject T,” the agent barked.
He adjusted his grip. He got the feeling he shouldn’t crush the flower unless he wanted everything to get worse; he kept it cupped in his hand, squirming against the rough cot, trying to get relief.
The agent was suddenly in front of them, grabbing the blossoms. “The next step was supposed to be ingestion,” they said out loud, “However, based on these results, I will omit that. For now,” they said under their breath. “We have more tests to conduct today, so we will be moving on to those.”
Jason tried to bury the flash of fear. If this was only one of the tests...
Agent J scribbled in their notepad for a moment before producing a razor from their pocket. They grabbed Jason’s wrist first. He tried not to flinch as they cut through the scar tissue sitting there, creating a cut about an inch long.
They cleaned off the razor as blood dripped down his arm. They did the same to Phantom.
They took a blood blossom and started pulling it apart into several bowls. The itching had been going down, but as they tore into the blossom, Jason could feel it begin to itch once more. He figured he was right to not crush the flower while he was holding it; he’s not sure what would’ve happened, but if it was this bad across the room from him, he didn’t want to know what it would be like up close.
They sorted through the petals, lining two rows in a gradient, from the very edge of the flower to the inside. They placed two seeds at the end of each row.
They grabbed a gauze pad and cut it into four pieces. They grabbed the medical tape.
They placed the petal on the bottom layer, then a piece of gauze, then a piece of medical tape on top. They prepared another before placing one on top of each boy’s cut.
It burned. It made him squirm and, looking at Danny, he could see that he felt the same way. He actively dug his hand into his thigh to prevent himself from scratching at it; he had a feeling he was in for a punishment if he removed it. Danny did something similar, sinking his teeth into his arm to distract himself.
He had begun to whimper again. The agent ignored them, simply observing their distress once again and writing down their observations. He took a deep breath.
A long, pitiful whine took over his throat. The instinctual urge to scratch himself raw began to consume him; it felt like he needed this thing off now-
He looked down. He could see his skin begin to turn black around the gauze. The agent noticed as well, going over and peeling off the tape holding it there.
The wound had gotten worse. It looked like....
His eyes widened. Where the petal had been had begun to rot his skin; he could see the decaying flesh.
The agent cursed and grabbed Danny’s arm, ripping his gauze off. His arm also had a rotted mark on it where the cut used to reside.
They went back over to the cart, grabbing medical instruments and going over to the door, opening it and popping their head out. “Someone get me Agent V!” they called before turning back.
They sat in front of Phantom, grabbing his arm and scraping roughly at the rotted skin. His hand began to twitch and tense.
“Stop that,” they hissed.
Danny breathed harshly for a few seconds before saying, “I can-can't help-”
“If you don’t stop it, I will cut it off.”
He whimpered, visibly trying to get his hand under control. Agent V walked in at that moment.
“Agent J, you needed me?”
“Yes,” they grit out, “Experiment went slightly awry. Scrape out his wound, if we leave it like this it may spread,” they said and pointed to the tools they haphazardly spilled on the table between the cots.
She didn’t say a word before going over to Jason’s cot. He scrambled to cross his legs before they got there. They sat down and grabbed some of the tools, starting to harshly scrape at his wound.
He tried not to flinch. Every scrape of her blade felt like it was directly on a nerve. He refused to cry or cry out; it didn’t work very well. It was getting trapped under his masks; he had a suspicion that they already knew his civilian identity, but he didn’t want to give them the satisfaction. He didn’t want to give them any more information than he absolutely had to, not that it was much beyond the things they’d personally witnessed. These idiots somehow hadn’t realized they could just, you know, ask them for certain information... not that Jason knew much to begin with.
Oh well. Probably best they didn’t start interrogating Danny for information. He hadn’t known the other boy long, but he had the feeling he was a terrible liar.
“That’s it!” the agent shouted, throwing down the tool.
Jason looked over to Danny, whose hand was shaking uncontrollably. He had tears streaming down his cheeks; he was whimpering.
“What’s it whining about?” the agent in front of Jason asked. She yanked on his arm, pulling him closer and scraping harder the more agitated she became.
He eventually took the tool from her, “I’ll do it,” he hissed.
She looked at him and shrugged.
He... almost couldn’t believe that worked. He started scraping the wound himself.
He glanced up at the agents every now and again, who were talking to themselves. When Jason was done clearing his throbbing wound, he looked over to Danny. The boy had his arm pressed close to his chest, curled around it. He could vaguely see his hand still twitching; he could see his scars faintly glowing.
He looked over to the agents. He carefully got off of the cot and climbed onto Danny’s, grabbing a new tool. He gently pulled his arm over to him, beginning to continue scraping it out. The heaving sobs made it more difficult than it otherwise would’ve been, but it was getting done. He had just finished when he was grabbed by the collar and lifted up.
“Hey-!” he protested. “I’m almost done-"
“We didn’t give you permission, ghostie,” Agent V hissed in his ear. “I outta-”
“The blood blossoms are off the table,” Agent J said immediately. They were holding what looked to be a machete.
Jason really hoped that wasn’t for what he thought it was for.
“How else am I supposed to punish it?” Agent V asked, bored.
Agent J raised an eyebrow. “How about you come over here? I will deal with Subject T.”
Agent V’s face lit up. “Really?”
They rolled their eyes. “Now, agent,” they commanded.
She practically ran over, taking Danny’s arm in her hand.
Agent J looked at Jason for a moment before grabbing some sort of cuff. They wrapped one around his wrist and the other to the bed as they watched Agent V look at the weapon in her hand like she was a small child holding a new toy.
“You’d better watch,” they hissed. “Unless you want the same punishment.”
He had a horrible feeling about this.
He watched in sickening realization as the agent brought the weapon down on the joint of Danny’s hand and wrist. He cried out as it started spurting blood.
“This,” Agent V said cruely, “Is what happens when you don’t listen to us! You were told to stop moving your hand,” she stopped to grab him by his hair as he tried to back away, “But you did it anyways, didn’t you?! Answer me!"
“Yes!” he wailed. Jason watched in wide-eyed horror as she grabbed the weapon and bore it down again, hitting the same place as before.
“You see, subject T,” the agent whispered in his ear, “This is what happens when you don’t listen. You get punished.”
The sick bubbled up in Jason until he couldn’t hold it anymore. His stomach emptied out onto the floor in front of him. He felt a hand in his hair, forcing him to look up.
“Watch,” they hissed. “You will be cleaning that later,” they added.
Jason nodded as he watched in horror.
Something in his brain went fuzzy. He was watching; he could see when the hand was severed, hanging on by little bits of flesh and not-quite severed tendon. He watched as Agent V cut the remaining bits with medical scissors and cauterized the wound. His whole head felt like it was underwater; he couldn’t hear anybody clearly.
He was pushed onto the floor, paper towels and cleaners shoved at him. He stared at the vomit before robotically cleaning it up, tossing the used towels away.
Wipe, toss. Wipe, toss. Spray, wipe, toss. Spray, wipe, toss.
He thought of Alfred’s roses, how he helped Alfred tend to them and, occasionally, replant some of the bushes in other areas. Besides being in the kitchen, it was their favorite bonding activity.
He didn’t think he liked it so much anymore.
Someone else came in. He could vaguely hear them beginning to fight with the other agents as he cleaned.
“… Weren’t supposed to do that! This wasn’t approved-”
“We were going to have to test it eventually, anyways! Besides, it misbehaved-”
“He was in pain! You were using blood blossoms; you don’t think those hurt-”
“Please, it’s a plant, how much damage-"
“It destabilizes the core! You don’t think that causes some pain-"
He finished cleaning and vaguely looked around. He forced himself back into his body; his hearing was still weird, but he ignored it.
His hearing hadn’t been quite right since Ethiopia, anyways.
He spotted Danny, cradling his stump on the cot. He crawled up onto the small thing with him, pulling him into his arms.
He pressed his face into Jason’s middle, crying. Jason ran fingers through his hair, untangling it. They were both getting quite greasy and dirty; he wanted a shower so bad. He wasn’t about to ask if they could get in.
He looked down at their shoes. Danny’s black sneakers were worn down with use, the sole nearly fallen off. In comparison with his nearly pristine Robin boots Bruce makes sure to have replaced at least once a year according to Dick...
And Phantom’s parents had been scientists. That didn’t sit right with him; from the little snippets he’d heard about them, they should be able to afford their kid a decent pair of sneakers.
Phantom had been training his collar to not go off when he used his powers. He’d made some decent progress; they’ve concluded it is ectoplasm in the collars reacting to their powers. He got up to two fingers intangible yesterday.
Jason had been trying to do something similar, but because he never had control of his powers to begin with, he’d just ended up shocked twice. Danny forbade him from trying again. Their plan for escape looked more solid by the day. But this?
Jason wasn’t sure what this meant, but he knew that they couldn’t just ignore it. He wasn’t sure if Phantom’s hand would even regrow. He was the only one out of the two of them that could use their powers. Their escape plan was looking less likely.
The agents stopped talking. Jason looked up from tending to his brother when he caught movement in the corner of his eye.
A woman with blonde hair sat in front of them. She had smile lines and her hair was in a low ponytail. She smiled pleasantly at him.
Agent A reached a hand out to his shoulder. He fought not to throw it off.
“Hi, Robin,” she said quietly. “I’m sorry they did this. Why don’t you give him to me and we can get you two back in your room, yeah?”
Jason wordlessly held up Danny’s stump. He saw her face twitch.
“They didn’t bandage it up?!” she hissed. She visibly composed herself. “I’ll dress that for him. Do you have the mark on your arm, hon?"
He nodded. He slid Danny off of his lap and onto the cot, as much as it pained him to do so. Danny looked up at him. He whimpered.
“Hey, honey, no,” she soothed. “It’s okay, he needs to get a bandage on that, like I need to get gauze on this, yeah?”
She brushed her fingertips against his forearm. He whimpered again, obviously out of it.
Jason forced himself to look away; the faster he got this done, the faster he could go back and soothe his brother.
He ripped open a gauze pad package with his teeth, pulling it out quickly and folding it to pack the deep wound on his arm. He pressed it down as best as he could while he grabbed the medical tape in his hand. He caught it on his finger to pull a good size piece off the roll, leaning down and biting it off. He used his middle finger to hold the gauze in place while his thumb and pointer caught the tape on the edge of his skin; he rubbed it to activate the glue before he maneuvered his hand to get the rest of it on.
He rubbed at it while he went over to the cot, climbing by Danny’s good side. He took his remaining hand in his and rubbed circles into the skin.
“You get that good enough, honey?” Agent A asked. Jason wordlessly held up his arm with the bandage on it.
She nodded. “I’m so sorry, boys,” she said lowly. “I should’ve gotten here earlier when I heard they were doing experiments.”
Jason sat there, wordless. It was like everything he’d ever been, everything he’d ever be was sapped from his body. There were no words left in him to say.
She sighed and finished packing his wound. She wrapped it in medical tape.
“I’ll put these away before we leave,” she said, gesturing to the blood blossoms.
Jason nodded.
He watched as she changed her gloves. She made sure the new pair were on securely and had no holes before she cleaned up the flowers. She handled them with care as she put them back into the container and sealed them back up.
He stroked down Danny’s back as the last of the sobs wracked his body. He comforted the other boy as easily as he did breathing; it wasn’t something he had to think about.
Soon, Danny was passed out in his arms. When Agent A was done cleaning up, she pulled the gloves off and washed her hands thoroughly. She attempted to pick Danny up.
“I’ve got him,” was the only thing Jason could say.
“Hon, he’s your size. You can’t carry him to your room comfortably,” she tried to reason with him.
Jason shook his head, gathering Danny up anyways. He rested the other boy’s head on his shoulder and put him on his lap, making sure he had him in his grip before hopping down himself. “I got him,” he repeated softly.
She looked at him sadly. “I know you have every reason not to trust me, especially considering what happened today,” she said, voice quiet, “But just so you know, you can ask me for help. I’m not like the others; I won’t hurt you for no good reason.”
Jason nodded mutely. He followed the agent out as she led him back down the labyrinth of halls; the twists and turns they took felt like he’d made them centuries ago instead of... a few hours, max.
When they got to their room, she helped Jason get Danny safely laid down on the cot.
Before she left, she pulled something out of her bag. “These are for you,” she said quietly. “I believe you two are still human, and you must be feeling some big feelings. I’m giving these to you.”
She pressed two notebooks, one red and one blue, into his hand. “These are blank journals. You can hide them in the cupboard under the cabinets. I have a couple pens with me, here-”
She pulled out two of the clickable sharpie pens. Jason looked at them a moment before taking them. “Thank you,” he said softly.
She cupped his cheek. “I was going to give them to you two today when I got in; I’m sorry it had to be under these circumstances. I have to go now,” she started towards the door, “But I hope you use them. Oh!”
She faced him fully, standing by the door. “I was cleaning in here a bit earlier and noticed the empty water bottles. I filled them up for you guys; they’re in the cupboard. I also got a few snacks for you.”
With that, she left. He looked at the journals.
He walked over to the counter, setting them down along with the pens. He crouched down.
She had cleared out the bits and bobs that had been shoved into the cabinet and had their water bottles full of water, as promised. She’d also put a case of water in there, something she hadn’t mentioned. She had a variety of different fruit jerkies, cliff bars and such in with them.
He decided to hide some of the food in his belt. He knew what it was like to be given something and have it taken away; some of the foster families he’d been stuck with before Bruce hadn’t exactly been kind.
He felt vaguely... bad, for not trusting her. Then again, she’d never given them a reason to trust her.
He could talk to Danny about the journals later; about what they’d use them for, if anything, and the like. He looked up.
He’d spent a great deal of time staring at the ceiling. There wasn’t much else to do; there weren’t exactly board games stuffed in every corner. He’d noticed the tile didn’t look too secure; it looked kind of like a public school’s, with the crumbly kind of long tile that breaks if a rubber ball hits it at the right angle.
He climbed onto the counter, holding onto the cupboards above for balance as he checked the tiles. It wasn’t valuable in terms of escape routes, but it was valuable in terms of a hiding spot. He could easily slip the journals in and out when he wanted to; they just had to be careful about not getting caught.
He slid the journals, pens fit snugly in the spirals, in the cubby hole before taking all the food out of his belt. They were sealed, so he didn’t mind sticking it into the space. He hopped down.
He didn’t dare risk putting the water bottles in the same spot; they would be way too heavy for the tiles to support. He opened the cupboard, grabbing some pineapple jerky and a water bottle before closing it.
He decided to keep most of the food in the cabinet. Agent A might not think much of it if a small amount goes missing at once, but she’ll definitely notice if all of it is gone the next time she checks the cabinet.
The only good part about this place was that the agents had started taking them to the bathroom periodically after the first... accident, after they transformed into their human forms. Most of them still hadn’t stopped to wonder what ‘waste’ they had to expel, but hey, progress.
He opened the jerky and bottle of water. He still didn’t have much in terms of an appetite but after days of living off cliff bars and dealing with his blood sugar lows, he knew he needed something else before he got sick.
He pulled down his mask and ate quickly, draining the water bottle in seconds. He kept vigil by Danny’s side, like a guard dog with something to prove. He put the bottle and the wrapper in the back of the cabinet before taking his post again.
He went over the information in his head. He was going to let Danny pick which journal he wanted first, but he couldn’t wait to write all his ideas down.
His fingers ghosted the pouch he’d stuck the small gun in. He’d fiddled with it a few times, but he still wasn’t sure how to tell Danny about it-
He exhaled. He used to be so good about not calling civilian names in the field, even in his head. Batman had always expressed so much emphasis on the importance of secret identities and the like, and here he was, messing all of that up. He truly had become a different person.
In a way he was glad they didn’t have a mirror. Sure, he was certain his hair was a mess and it’d be nice to wash his face, but beyond that he wasn’t sure he wanted to look at himself.
The longer they were here, the more he could pick out the ways he’d changed. He used to be able to keep his civilian life and night life separate; he used to think better on his feet; he used to be full of scathing comments, the kind that made the person question whether they’d even been insulted or not.
He used to-
He paused. He hadn’t exercised once since they got here. The idea hit him like a wall of bricks.
Who was he anymore? His own bile mixed with the pineapple jerky in the back of his throat, making a rancid combination.
He was acting like he’d already given up. He... he wasn’t Robin anymore. He could never go back to being Robin when he got back.
He couldn’t be Jason Todd. Jason Todd couldn’t deal with this situation. But what to call himself?
Sparrow? No, that didn’t sound like a good fit. Swallow? Nope, his brother’s name was Dick, he’d never hear the end of it from Barbara.
How did Dick pick his names again?... That’s right. His parents had called him Robin, and Superman had told him a Kryptonian tale about Nightwing and... Flamebird? He thinks? When he was looking to move out of the role. He briefly considered it before remembering Flamebird was Nightwing’s romantic partner.
He thought about it for a few more minutes. Bruce got his name because he was afraid of bats. Dick got his... honoring his parents. He paused for a moment.
The only reason Bruce got in the game was because his parents were gunned down in front of him. Dick went in trying to avenge his parent’s death. They both did this in their memory.
Willis and Sheila were never his parents, not in the way that mattered. His papa, Bruce, was still alive. He thought about Catherine, the old tales she used to tell him.
Her favorite author had been Jane Austen. She didn’t have many actual favorites in life; she felt in extremes, either loving something or hating it. The few times she actually had a favorite of something and stuck with it, Jason listened.
Her favorite bird had always been a cardinal.
He thought about it for a minute. He did look good in red.
If he didn’t like it later, he could change it. He wasn’t sure why he had a chance at this life; everything suggested he shouldn’t be sitting here, still somewhat alive right now. He was getting out of here, and he was doing it for his mom.
Cardinal thought back to when he first started training with the bats. Batman and Alf had him doing basic exercises daily.
He started out with squats, pushing his muscles and seeing where he was.
He wasn’t going to sit around hoping someone would come along. He wasn’t a baby robin that had been pushed out of the nest.
He and Phantom were going to get out of here.
Fenton Family on Vacation (part 3)
Original Post
Part One⬅️➡️Part Two
(This is kind of a filler cause I’m trying to get an AO3 account set up, but Elle fighting a rat just got stuck in my head and I couldn’t get it out.)
Lights come on in a studio. Two people sit behind a glass desk, expressions neutral.
"Good evening, and welcome to C3TV. It's 6:45 p.m. central time on August 4th, 20XX. I'm Kimberly Anderson."
"And I'm Frank Meyers. For today's Fifteen Minutes of Heroes, we'll focus on one man in particular; The Flash."
A screen turns on behind the news anchors. 'Fifteen Minutes of Heroes' is written in bold letters. The screen cuts to a close-up picture of the Flash.
"That's right, Frank. Our city's protector is not often in the spotlight, so let's get down to business."
"Right you are, Kim. To start with, Captain Cold was spotted outside the Flash Museum earlier today. It is still unknown why he was there first, but Flash was quick on the scene and chased the rogue through the downtown shopping district."
A blurry photo of Captain Cold is shown.
"What stopped Flash from arresting him immediately?"
"Well, Kim, according to CCPD reports, a recent delivery of high-alloy austenitic stainless steel was stolen at a checkpoint before it could make its way to S.T.A.R. Labs. It's now known Captain Cold was the culprit and used the metal to produce new weapons. These new weapons gave both Flash and civilians alike a scare, as the rate at which they generate ice is astounding."
An image of S.T.A.R. Labs comes up. It switches to the silhouette of a crate with a question mark, and then a silent video appears. The video is of the recent destruction in the downtown area and captures crowds of people milling around. Some are cleaning up debris, and some are trying to evacuate their families and neighbors. Several emergency service trucks are lighting up the whole street. One man has a flamethrower and is trying to thaw out his car.
"Yes, traffic was horrible on the way to work. This new ice has a particularly high melting point, so its removal is still ongoing. Flash was spotted chasing the captain but frequently had to sidetrack for quick evacuation. Captain Cold was shooting to hurt today. There was no regard for civilian safety or public property. It seemed like he wanted to cripple the city. A few neighboring counties will pitch in for relief efforts; more at eight."
Snippets of their fight all over the area are edited together. Pictures of the destruction show up.
"Reports say their path took them west through the district before making a sharp turn on Roanoke Parkway and doubling back to Central City Plaza. There, Flash cornered the rogue. You can see the two arguing through nearby store cameras, but no audio can be provided. Captain Cold is visibly angered and takes a hostage at one point. The hostage, one Lacey James, was under threat for less than a minute before the Flash stole her away and returned her to waiting police officers. Cold is upset by this and douses the whole plaza in a thick ice sheet."
A virtual map follows the path taken with a red line—the screen changes to an out-of-focus storefront video. Captain Cold has a blonde woman at gunpoint, but Flash disappears with the woman too fast for the cameras to follow. Flash returns a few seconds later. Captain Cold seems angered, and the cameras short out soon after.
"Uh oh, we all know how hard it is to walk on ice. Captain Cold obviously wanted to slow down the Flash, but why?"
"We're still not sure, Kim. I mean, it's his thing. But does anyone know why villains do what they do?"
"You have a point, Frank. But that's not why we're here today."
"No, it is not. While the Flash did his best, bless his heart, a few civilians were stuck inside the plaza with the two supers. No deaths have been reported citywide, and only a single person has been admitted to the ICU due to a case of hypothermia. More about this young soul can be found on our website and the link to their family's GOFUNDME. But aside from that, one of the civilians managed to get an interesting part of the fight on video. None of the stores in the area had working cameras at this point, so let's look at the video now. Please be warned, viewers' discretion is advised."
The video opens showing the face of a young teen. The video is obviously from the point of view of their phone. The teen is swearing, and viewers at home can hear a long string of beeps.
A voice from off-screen: "Yo! Are you getting this??"
The teen swears one last time, but the video's perspective is changed. The camera is peeking out into the plaza between a car tire and a chunk of ice. "[beep], it's so cold, man. It's [beep]ing August. I hope that kid is okay."
"It was nice of you to give that family your flannel."
"It was that or let that kid freeze, man. Now shut up. I'm tryin' to hear what they're saying!"
The two teens pipe down. The camera is adjusted a few times, but eventually, the audio is picked up. Flash can be heard arguing with Captain Cold, although the dialogue is spotty due to the range.
"-can't do that!"
"The-[beep]ing [beeeeeeep] upstairs--hospital-----"
"-new procedure-----s West--gone clean---"
"NEVER! THOSE---[beep] this, GG---home--too sick---"
"-can help! S.T.A.R. Labs---new meds--won't------"
Flash is cut off by a scream of frustration from Captain Cold. The rogue begins to point and shoot at Flash, who has to zoom out of the way. Viewers can tell there are many close calls, as Flash stumbles more than once due to the slick ice.
Suddenly, a swirling green portal appears and spits out a figure right into the Flash's path. A loud smack is heard when they hit the ground face-first. One teen behind the camera sucks in a sharp breath, and the other whispers, "Ouch, that had to hurt."  Flash has no room to stop and trips over the body.
"[BEEP]!" Flash face-plants and doesn't get back up. Captain Cold pauses, staring at the two on the ground. A loud groan is heard a second later, and the figure raises its head. The camera zooms in.
The figure was a glowing little girl with white hair and unnaturally green eyes. Glowing green blobs circle her head like cartoon birds. Bits of asphalt are stuck to her face, drawing green blood, but her skin heals as viewers watch.
The girl seemed disoriented, staring blankly at Flash and then at Captain Cold. The teen holding the phone can be heard scooting closer. The video shakes violently for a few seconds, but now viewers can listen to the conversation more clearly.
"Uh...hi?" Small animal noises are heard, and viewers realize it's coming from the blobs, whipping around faster than before.
"Where the [BEEP] did you come from?"
Whispers of astonishment come from the teens as the girl pushes herself off the ground and into the air, visibly struggling to stay afloat. "Hey, watch your [beep]ing language, dude. Children are present."
Captain Cold spluttered. "Wha-??"
The girl ignored the villain and turned towards the Flash. She bends over him, placing two fingers on his neck, presumably to check his pulse. Viewers see the girl wearing a big, black backpack in the shape of a ghost. From the camera's distance, it was difficult to determine what else she was wearing, but one of the teens said, "That's a sick outfit. I love the boots. Big 'Prometheus' vibes."
A scoff. "Yeah, no. I'm thinking 'Star Wars,' for sure."
An argument begins behind the camera, and the view tilts a bit since their attention is no longer on it.
A thin whine draws back the attention of the teens and the audience. Captain Cold is pointing a gun at the girl, who has a bemused expression on her face. Over the sound of the weapon, their quiet conversation cannot be heard.
(Later, a famous child psychologist would do a ten-minute interview for Beefood's new show, 'Cohabiting with Cryptids.' Analysis shows the child was actually terrified at Captain Cold's actions and more confused than she let on. Some comments point out that the girl attempted to put herself between the Flash and the rogue, proving that she hadn't meant the Flash any harm.)
Suddenly, the girl scoops up Flash into a fireman's carry and dodges an ice blast. The teen filming the event swears and drops their phone. Shuffling and more gunshots can be heard.
"You gotta chill out, man!"
"Ah, [beep], the screen cracked-"
"What?!"
"I can't-"
"Maybe a little shock therapy will get your Christmas spirit going!"
The shooting pauses. "It's Aug-AAAAAUGH!"
A scream startles the teens. It's coming from Captain Cold, and viewers can tell he's in pain.
The screen is still black.
"What the [beep], what the [beep]-"
"Is that lightning??"
"She's electrocuting him. How-"
"It's pink!"
"That's not what you should be focusing on right now!"
"But it's PINK LIGHTNING."
"She is literally burning holes into his parka, what the [beep]."
"Do you think Flash can make pink lightning? Should I ask him?"
"I don't [beep]ing know! She's going to kill him!"
"No, she isn't; look!"
A quiet moment. Captain Cold has stopped screaming, but small groans can be heard instead.
"She stopped, see?"
"How much electricity was that??"
"I dunno, but obviously not enough to kill him."
"You're very calm about this."
"Don't worry. I'll freak out later."
"Oh, Jesus-"
"Look!"
A clatter. "Sorry about that." The camera finally refocused, although it was shakier than before. The girl was hovering over the prone form of Captain Cold, still holding onto the Flash. Viewers could hear her voice tremble. "On the plus side, a few of your screws may have been knocked back into place from the electricity. Anyways, see you later, [beeeeep] Ice Prince!"
The camera swings around to face the second teen. Their eyes were lit up in fascination. "New life goal: Pull a Zarina from 'The Pirate Fairy' and figure out how to make pink lightning."
"Oh, my [beep], Lynne! Why-"
The video ends abruptly, and the news anchors fade back into view.
"Well, that was...interesting."
"I'd say so. We have seven minutes left; let's discuss the theories."
-----
Dani stared at the tv. A quick re-run of the video from Fifteen Minutes of Heroes was playing. It was well past ten now, but she'd managed to hole up in someone's party shack on top of some apartments. And while she refused to touch the poorly-hidden weed, Dani had no qualms about raiding the stash of (packaged) food and flipping on the old tube tv. She'd turned on the local news channel to learn more about this new world since wandering around for a few hours didn't tell her much.
And she'd learned a lot.
This was a world of superheroes. Dani didn't know how to feel about that. On the one hand, she thought it would be easier to care for herself. She wouldn't have to try as hard to hide her powers-hell, she was being featured on the news! And these people weren't discussing her imminent capture. No public warnings about reporting her, nothing about being a danger to society. These news reporters were doing their job, relaying the facts and throwing out theories about her identity and powers. Was she a super? A rookie? An alien? A meta? What was her name? The people on the screen flashed a phone number below and asked if anyone spotted her please call their hotline. Not to hunt her down but because she was a kid. A superpowered kid whom no one knew the identity of and seemed to be very much alone. And yeah, Dani knew there were people out there with malicious intentions. But the fact that she was on the news and not in a bad way was baffling.
(On the other hand, Dani knew her dad. A world full of superheroes meant a world full of supervillains that normal humans couldn't fight back against. Dani hoped with all her core that he'd stay away from the fighting. His Obsession wasn't protecting people, thank the Ancients, or they might never find each other.)
At the very least, Dani expected one or two comments about her 'horrible intentions' to hurt their city hero. Still, Flash himself came on in an interview earlier that night and said while he woke up in a really weird place, he did not have any injuries besides the ones he caused himself. Flash noted that "The kid even tried to make me comfortable. She made a cardboard nest for me to lay on and tried hiding me in a private location. Sure, that location was a dumpster, but it obviously worked because no one found me until I'd already woken up."
"In this picture, you're seen with a pair of-heh-handcuffs. Any idea why the girl might've attached you to that pipe?"
"If I had to hazard a guess, the kid is scared. I saw the footage. I know I got knocked out pretty quickly. But that girl did her best to defend me from my enemy and get me to safety. However, it's obvious that knocking out two men twice her size has her spooked. Those handcuffs were probably an attempt to restrain me so she could get a head start. Probably thought I was mad at her. She even left an apology note. But don't worry, Spooky. I'm not mad. Thank you for saving my hide, and I'm sorry I tripped over you."
Dani's eyes were glued to the screen. Those last words, Flash had addressed towards the camera. They were for her. But she told him her name, her human name. Why use Spooky?
Fuck it. I'm too tired for this.
-----
Whether she liked it or not, it was too easy for Elle to get used to life on the streets again. She'd done it before; stealing food, sleeping in alleys, squatting in abandoned buildings, always looking over her shoulder a second time.
She knew her family wasn't happy about her time on the streets-Danny especially. When they first separated, she could feel the pain from his core. He hated sending her away. But it was that or risk worse from the potential backlash. At least this time, she had an extra pair of eyes. Or five.
Blob ghosts were a common thing, especially around Amity. The more ecto-contaminated you were, the more blob ghosts tended to hang around. They weren't the weakened souls of the dead but more like collections of intense emotions imprinted on ectoplasm. Elle usually got a whole hoard following her back home, but in this new universe, only five managed to find the strength to follow her. Elle thought it was only appropriate to claim them as Hers and give them names.
So now, Noodle, Buffy, Preston, Shaniac, and Boogara were a part of her little fright. And as such, they became extremely handy in her city exploration. They were her scouts, her lookouts, her moral support. They could not, however, help out much when she was in a big fight, like yesterday. They just had to hide in her hair.
But with the smaller enemies, they really came through. For example, she was having a nasty brawl with a particularly ugly rat over a breakfast sandwich at the moment, and her blob buddies were being a huge help.
Yes, you heard right.
Elle was hungry. She'd been hungry before, and it was nothing new. But the fight and panic attack yesterday took a lot out of her. She'd barely touched the food at that weed shack, too afraid it was laced with something. So after picking an alley and transforming back into a human, Elle started looking around for something to eat. Her search led her to a small café, where she used the last of her allowance to buy an egg and ham breakfast sandwich. Which she promptly dropped onto the ground after face-planting for the second time in the past twelve hours. She was close to another alley, and Elle could only watch with wide eyes as a giant rat darted out into the sunlight, snatched the corner of the wrapper, and dragged it away. Why'd she fall? Elle tripped over a chunk of ice from the café doorway. ICE.
I should have kicked that man in the dick. Elle thought, scrambling up to chase after the rat. Her blob buddies led the way, harassing the rat as best they could to slow it down. They cornered it in a box. Buffy was chittering especially loud, leading the others.
Elle knelt and reached in blindly, grasping for anything. One of her knees was bleeding, and bits of broken glass were getting into the cut. "Where are y-ouch! Motherfucker! Did you just bite me??" The rat screamed and bit her again. "Oh fuck no! Get your ass out here, you little-"
The rat ran out, still dragging the wrapped sandwich. Elle tried stomping on it but missed. Noodle was handing around the rat's neck like a rope, trying to restrain it. Shaniac and Boogara were tugging at the sandwich, and Elle managed to snatch it up a second before the rat escaped into a shoe. Without hesitating, Elle punted the shoe into the street like a football.
She snorted in satisfaction when the shoe and its passenger were lost in the crowd.
"I can't believe that just happened." Elle whirled around but didn't see anyone. "Up here!"
Above her head, watching the whole thing with an amused expression, was a woman sticking her head out of a window from the second floor. The woman had tight brown curls and an equally tight face that looked strained when she smiled.
"You're that Spooky kid from the news, right?" The woman called. How did she-? Elle scrunched up her face. Right, blob ghosts.
"No!" Yeah, that was believable. "Anyways, mind your own business!" She stalked out of the alley, hard-won sandwich in hand, and did her best to ignore the woman's stifled giggles she could still hear two blocks away.
Okay, maybe staying as a ghost will be easier in this big new city.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
      The news anchor droned in the background, repeating the same information for the tenth time in a row. All the news channels did. You listened until all the details became embedded in your brain—until you realized you were an embodiment of everyone's worst nightmare.
Your thumb trails over the glass picture frame in your hands while the news cuts to a commercial break. Homelander, the biggest fraud of them all, prances around in his nationalistic getup, advertising the latest Vought restaurant. You don't dwell on it long enough to find humor in the situation since all your attention is focused on the picture. Your grip tightens around the frame, cracks immediately forming.
You're eight years old, dressed in your favorite pale blue superhero costume with hair accessories to match. The smile on your face, bright and big like the way your parents drilled into you, gave the impression that you were excited to be there. If anyone took a close look, they would have noticed your red eyes and tear-stained cheeks.
"You know I performed five times that day. After every show, I cried to go on the Ferris wheel, but my dad would yell at me to stop being ungrateful. I fainted from exhaustion after they took this photo. The next day, my mom pulled me out of second grade to be a full-time performer." You caress your young face before breaking the frame completely, small shards of glass pricking your skin. It felt nice to actually feel something besides numbness.
"To think I could trust my own parents." An empty laugh escapes you as you release the broken frame, watching it fall to the floor. Then you look up to see Maeve's reflection through the hanging mirror. Maeve, donned in her ugly costume, has her hands on her waist in her signature stance. This Vought approved version of her makes your heart clench in shame and sadness.
"Were you ever going to tell me?” Her dark green eyes meet your own gaze through the mirror. Maeve releases a deep sigh but keeps silent.
You whip around with lightning speed, staring at her with wide eyes filled with tears teetering your lashline. "I trusted you." Your lips tremble, tears teetering over your lashline.
"You know I couldn't." Maeve steps forward with arms reaching out to you. You step back immediately. "Please."
You shake your head. " I had my life taken from me even before it began. "
"So did I!" You glare at her, causing her to drop her hands and sigh again. "Vought would've killed us both if I told you the truth."
"So!" You throw your arms up in. "You're going to tell me that being paraded around like a caged animal is the better option."
"Living will always be the better option."
You huff out a sarcastic laugh. "Of course, you're right. Being Vought's puppets while they take hundreds of more innocent lives is the better option. You seem to think so. After all, you're their third-biggest commodity."
Another commercial comes on—this time advertising a Queen Maeve feminine hygiene product that closing your eyes. You want to laugh at the absurd timing but you're too drained to commit to that action. Maeve physically cringes, mimicking your actions. When the commercial ends, the noise from the streets down below fills the pregnant pause.
"What can I do to fix this? Fix us?"
"Tell me everything you know about Vought. Every secret, lie, all the fuck-ups—everything."
"You know I can't."
"If Starlight can, you can. You just don't want to give up your cushy life as Vought's prized princ—"
"I love you!" Her wild eyes turn a darker shade of green to point where it looks black. "What don't you understand that? Everything I hid from you was so I can protect you from Vought, from Homelander. If he found out about you, about us, then he'll murder you without a second thought."
"Again, is that really so bad?" You whisper, tears finally falling over your lashline. Maeve's eyes start to water as well when she takes another step toward you. This time, you stay put and she takes this as a hint to go to you.
She pulls you into her arms just as you collapse onto the floor, rocking you back and forth as you sobbed into her chest—crying for the potential normalcy you could've had if Vought never existed. Imaginary knives pierce your heart, stabbing it over and over again, and you start gasping for air. Closing your eyes tightly, forehead resting on Maeve's shoulder.
She pulls away enough to face you, placing her hands on your cheeks. "I'm here for you, okay? I won't let anyone harm you."
You exhale shakily, feeling some of the haze lifting, allowing some breath onto your lungs. Maeve's unyielding strength influences you to gain some yourself, finding yourself nodding along with her words.
"You can't keep doing this alone," She whispers, pressing a kiss to your forehead."
You pull away from her, backing away just to slightest to see her face fall and hiccup out a sentence. "And you can't keep being selfish enough to sacrifice millions of lives for me."
"I'm not—"
The expression you give her silences her immediately. You wipe your tears and snot on your black long-sleeved t-shirt, then kneel in front of your former girlfriend. "I'm tired of sitting idly by. I'm going to help Starlight and her friends take down Vought, with or without your help. And I'm telling you as Maeve, my ex-girlfriend who used to buy three big bags of Cheeto puffs and wouldn't share with me—not Queen Maeve, Vought's alcoholic dancing monkey."
Her head lowers, shoulders slumping and hands trembling. Grabbing her hands, you hold them, caressing them. "Be the hero you want to be."
She lifts her head, a crooked half-smile on her lips, a few tears escaping the corners of her eyes. She stares at you for a bit before nodding. You bring her into a tight hug, one that you know she needed for a long time.
Federal authorities arrested a husband and wife in Bristol, Va., on Monday in connection with the Jan. 6th siege on the U.S. Capitol Building. Documents related to their cases were unsealed in federal court on Thursday.
Authorities say tips from the public led them to Joshua Bustle and Jessica Bustle. The couple is accused of entering the U.S. Capitol and posting about it on Facebook. Jessica Bustle’s multiple online accounts provided much of the evidence prosecutors used to compile a case against her, federal court documents indicate.
“Pence is a traitor,” one of Jessica’s posts read. “We stormed the capital. An unarmed peaceful woman down the hall from us was shot in neck by cops. It’’s insane here. We’re safe and heading home but have limited service.””
Another lengthy post read (in part) as follows:
“The amount of misinformation I’’m seeing is insane. Despite what you’’re being fed, the rally was nothing like what the media is portraying. My husband and I spent the majority of our time at the Health Freedom Rally which was a couple of blocks over from the Trump Rally. When we finally decided to head over to the capitol we were let in . . . like literally, my husband and I just WALKED right in with tons of other people.” The cops were nice . . . we were talking with them INSIDE of the capitol about not taking the CV tax and they agreed with us. There were no guns, weapons, and no violence. In fact, when we finally decided to go in after about 45min of it being wide open . . . there was a wooden podium UNTOUCHED just sitting there in the middle of trump supporters supposedly causing so much damage and mayhem. Yes, some Trump supporters were supposedly unruly . . . pushed past police to take selfies in congress seats.
What followed that was a bit of sarcasm and a claim that “ANTIFA puppets infiltrated the rally,” a claim that “Trump supporters are loving, patriot and peaceful people,” and that the mainstream media was full of “lies.”
As prosecutors have pointed out in case after case, the U.S. Capitol was officially closed to business Jan. 6 as Congress set to work counting electoral votes in favor of Joe Biden.
A Statement of Facts filed in federal court says Jessica Bustle had two Facebook profiles. Some of her messages were edited after they were originally posted, authorities stated.
Tumblr media
An FBI Special Agent reviewed captiol surveillance video. It showed the Bustles entering the building wearing what is believed to be the same clothing they were wearing in Facebook posts that day. The video shows the woman authorities believe to be Jessica was carrying the same anti-vaccine poster seen in Facebook photos on Jessica’s Facebook account. The sign reads as follows: ““MANDATORY MEDICAL PROCEDURES have NO Place in a FREE Society”.”
Tumblr media
I wonder how much of a lion they’ll be in prison. All I see are a couple sheep being willingly led to the slaughter.
Data transmitted by the couple’s electronic devices also placed them at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. Federal prosecutors did not cite all of the messages reviewed by Law&Crime in charging documents against the husband or the wife.
Jessica Bustle’s primary Facebook profile was still active as of Thursday. In the profile reviewed by Law&Crime, Jessica described herself as a “wife” and a “mama” who appeared to state a preference for homeschooling her young children. She described herself as a “Truth Seeker” who liked the Bible passage Philippians 4:13. She shared several memes which described people who took vaccines as “lab rat[s]” and otherwise suggested that children should “never” be injected with vaccines.
“Will vaccinated people be able to give blood?” one post questioned. “If so, will those receiving the blood be made aware?”
Another showed a caricature of of Bill Gates and Dr. Anthony Fauci sitting on top of a giant needle. “Depopulation here we come” said the caption.
Yet another likened a COVID-19 vaccine card to a yellow Star of David similar to those the Nazis required Jews to wear during the World War II era. “This badge will allow you to go back to work, travel, buy, sell, and trade,” the meme erroneously claimed. “And it will cost you your soul.”
Other memes on her page chastised people who wore facemasks during the pandemic and said “millions of loving people” should get “together to overthrow the ruling class.”
She also shared a meme which questioned why “80 year old children’s books” were “being cancelled” while Cardi B’s song WAP was considered acceptable.
“You can have a bachelor degree and still be an idiot,” one post said.
“Masculinity isn’t toxic. The absence of it is,” read yet another. “Weak men are abusive and spiteful. Strong, masculine men are protective and loving.”
“I don’t know about you, but I’m not seeing posts about how great Biden is doing,” said another image.
Her occupation is described as a “Homemaker at The Bustle Household in Manassas, Virginia.”
Tumblr media
“I’ll be proud to say that I did not stay silent,” she wrote on Oct. 26, 2020. “I was on the right side of history, battling alongside some amazing freedom warriors as we fought like hell to get the TRUTH out and wake people up to the twisted agendas, lies and corruption. I’ll be proud to say I fought for every child’s life and right to live FREE and without fear.”
Other memes and posts shared images of ex-President Donald Trump and wished he would remain in the White House. One suggested on Nov. 11, 2020, that Joe Biden was trying to scrounge up write-in ballots to help solidify his win.
“The level of corruption going on in our government is unfathomable,” Jessica wrote on Nov. 14, 2020. “But, God is moving in this mess and exposing the hidden systems that have been in the shadows for far too long.”
“See y’all at the rally,” she concluded. In an attached image, Jessica wore a Trump shirt and hat, while Joshua wore a black “don’t tread on me” shirt. What followed were images posted on Nov. 17th of Trump supporters outside the U.S. Capitol and the U.S. Supreme Court building.
Several images were from the Jan. 6th events at the Capitol Complex.
“I refuse to fall for the hate and divide,” one post said. “Yesterday was monumental. I got to hang with so many amazing freedom keepers and my favorite dude [emoji] and he proudly proclaimed that WE’RE winning this war on medical freedom. [emojis] Our movement has grown to over 50% of people!!!! Y’all, that’s HUGE. So many people waking up and refusing to be injected with known toxins and poisons. [emojis]”
“Excited to stand for truth with my fellow patriots in DC today,” read a caption on another photo posted Jan. 6.
Another post questioned the authenticity of NASA’s moon landing.
The Bustles each face four counts: (1) knowingly entering of remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; (2) knowingly engaging in disorderly or disruptive conduct in restricted buildings or grounds; (3) violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds; and (4) parading, demonstrating, or picketing on Capitol grounds.
One of my favorite interactions between Donald and Douglas, so I made this. I love how the things Douglas does gets progressively worse. This is also just how siblings argue. They bring up the past and complain. It’s just funny.
Also the fact that Douglas in cannon brought a gerbil back to life. He made Frank-N-gerbil.
Seriously, “Which Father Knows Best” and “Brother Battle”(where this interaction comes from) are two of the funniest episodes of the whole series. The actors for Donald and Douglas play off each other really well. They really feel like actual brothers and have great comedic timing together.
RANDOM HC’S : discord edition. part 1/?
about romance/gifts: shadow's knowledge of 'romance' and ‘love’ comes from old story books he used to read with maria.. so yes, he’s the type to show up with chocolate/roses at your front door. he's not very good at buying things for others but if his crush asks him for something he'll try to get it. also i’d imagine if he finds anything shiny, like a small jewel or even a pretty piece of glass, he would give them to his crush. so instead of buying you a lot of things, expect him to shower you with pretty things he found while wandering around (anything from shiny rocks to seashells.)
about his nightmares: shadow doesn’t dream much bc his sleep is usually very light (and also bc he has a hard time letting himself fall asleep,, he doesn't like being vulnerable so he often chooses to take small naps instead of actually going to bed) but when he has a nightmare it's.. intense and often makes very little sense. when he wakes up he can't remember what it was about or he just can't explain what he saw. his nightmares tend to mix all of his trauma together, creating some... horrifying images. he sees his friends die the same way maria died, he sees himself with scientists who can’t wait to treat him like a lab rat, he sees himself all alone for eternity. it's easy to tell when shadow's having a nightmare: he rolls around in his bed, mutters to himself and he wakes up with a scream or just looking absolutely horrified. he usually doesn't want to be comforted but if you're already there and saw the whole thing there's a chance he'll grab onto you and won't let go.
where he lives: he actually has three places he can stay: his own apartment, rouge’s apartment or at GUN HQ. he's pretty sure GUN just wants to monitor him and that's the only reason they have a room for him at their headquarters so he’s not there that often. rouge’s place feels most like a ‘home’ to him. she decorated a simple room for him with a bed, a desk, a bookshelf and some plants (that don't need much watering).. you could never guess it's shadow's room. there’s also a fish tank for his betta fish that rouge got for him. and finally shadow’ own apartment: he mostly treats it as his ‘place to store things’. his personal documents and things he took from the ARK (a photo of maria etc.) are safely stored there. he doesn’t usually bring other people to his apartment so if he invites you to visit then you know he trusts you completely.
about his instincts: shadow was raised by humans so i like to think there are some things hedgehogs do that confuse him.
- he doesn’t curl into a ball unless he's about to do a spin dash. - he doesn't understand licking / grooming. - he sleeps on his back like a human would and again, doesn’t curl up. - he doesn’t wag his tail. he just.. doesn’t know how.
his hedgehog instincts are a bit more subdued bc he didn’t know any other hedgehogs while growing up and i don't think he even knew back on the ARK that he was.. supposed to be a hedgehog. gerald always told him he’s “the ultimate lifeform”. shadow is also constantly fighting against his black arms instincts. he gets really disgusted with himself bc he can’t help but feel a bit.. feral. sometimes he would love to tear things apart with his claws for no reason or just.. bite ppl that annoy him. also uh, keep raw meat away from him.. thanks.
My dog Teddy. <3 What is the best present you have ever given? I put the most effort into a scrapbook thing of well over a hundred reasons I loved my then-boyfriend Jason. Even though we're done, I honestly hope he still has it, just to remember. What is the best surprise you have ever had? Sara's parents paying for a flight up there to be with Sara for her birthday. Have you ever been robbed? No, thankfully. Ever kiss someone on the first date? No. Ever sleep with someone on the first date? Definitely a nope. Ever give someone a wrong phone number on purpose? No. What’s the strangest thing you have ever witnessed firsthand? I have no idea. It's... very morbid, but possibly dogs twitching after being euthanized. Seeing Teddy do it was such a strange, painful experience. Like there was still life in there... even though I know it was just his nerves doing their final hoorah and he was already dead. Ever seen a psychiatric ward? I've been in a mental hospital five or six times, so I'm uncomfortably familiar with them. What is the last thing you did that you didn’t want to do? Group therapy. I'm really burning out on it. Thankfully, I don't have it on the weekends. What is the last thing you convinced someone else to do? I dunno. If you could live in a different time, would you? When? Nah. Do you prefer to sleep alone or with someone else? Sleeping alone is more comfortably physically, but I usually prefer sleeping with a partner because there's this amazing feeling of safety, love, and companionship. How many pillows do you sleep with? Two. Do you prefer cold air and blankets, or warm air and no blankets? Cold air and blankets by ten miles. I can't sleep if I'm even remotely hot. How often do you dust? Sigh, not as much as I need to. What is the most "extreme" activity you have ever done? I haven't done very much that fits that description... so idk. Dr. Pepper or root beer? Dr. Pepper. I hate root beer. Last room you cleaned? Mine. Last thing you did that made you feel like an adult? Checked into the doctor's office by myself, haha... Talk about sad. What’s your favorite picture of your mom? Dad? It's not my business to actually share those pictures, but I can describe them. I fucking ADORE this candid photograph I took of my mom laughing; I will forever cherish it. It's morbid to think about, but it's absolutely a picture I'll frame of her once she's passed away. I don't have many pictures of Dad, but I do really like this picture we took together at Red Lobster once. Are you subscribed to anything (Magazines, monthly boxes, streaming sites, etc.)? Mom pays an Adobe Creative Cloud photography bundle subscription for me, but that's it. Last TV show series you finished? Fullmetal Alchemist with Sara. It was a rewatch for me, but she'd never seen it. What’s something exciting that’s happened to one of your friends recently? A childhood friend got engaged a few days back. Do you have any board games? If so, where do you keep them? We have a few somewhere. What were the last things you glued together? I don’t recall. What are your friends’ pets’ names? I'll just use Sara here since she's my best friend. She has two family dogs, Buster and Beesly, a cat named Winter, four ball pythons named Martha, Crowley, Little Dot, and Jane Marie, and Doris, a bearded dragon that I personally adore most. :') What all did you do today? I played World of Warcraft early this morning, but not for very long. I've been in a phase of being very uninterested in it lately. I've mostly just done surveys... lots of surveys. I'm just in the mood to. I've also been listening to music and watching John Wolfe play Amnesia: Rebirth periodically. If you live in a house, how many floors does it have? If you live in an apartment building, how many units does it have? It's just one floor. Would you like to live in a world with mythical creatures, even if they turned out to be evil or dangerous? Honestly... I probably would, haha. Are you scared of heights? Yes. When was the last time you lost something of great sentimental value? Did you ever end up finding it again? Never, I think and hope. What food do you find to be the most filling? Is this something you eat a lot of? Eggs or oatmeal. Not really. What do you think of people who purposefully train their dogs to fight or to be aggressive? They're fucking garbage human beings. If you suffer/have suffered with acne, do you squeeze your spots or do your best to just leave them be? Ugh, I was so bad (and still am if something pops up) about picking at it. Does your father have any hobbies? What are they? Sure. He loves sports, fishing, idk if he still plays video games, fantasy football... and I can't forget playing with his grandkids. It's hard for me to know all of them when I don't live with him and see him rarely. What did the last face mask you wore look like? It was just a white cotton one. Is there a specific song that you always request at parties? What is it? I don't go to parties. Would you rather read poetry or write poetry? Write it. Have you ever had any really infected injuries? I've had infected piercings as well as a badly infected pilonidal cyst. Is there any band out there that you like every song by them? No. Are you popular on any websites? No. What was the last song you listened to? Aaaaand now I'm hooked on "NIHIL" by 3TEETH. Are you currently texting anyone right now? No. When was the last time you played jump rope? Yikes, probably not since I was a kid. I used to love it. Who was the last person you offended? I dunno. What’s the earliest you’ve ever had to wake up for work? Not early. Do you know anyone who has changed their first name? I know trans people who have, yes. Do you know anyone who has been on life support and survived? No. At least, I don't believe so. Do your parents have a strong relationship together? They're divorced, and Mom at least can't stand him. Dad doesn't really care. Do you ever feel like you’re sharing too much about yourself online? Oh, I absolutely used to. I still might, idk. I've tried to reel it back some. How many windows are in the room you’re in? Eight, but they're just small, vertical rectangles stacked together, so it's not as revealing as it sounds. What was the last necklace you wore? My spiked choker, I think, for pictures. Or maybe the one I have with a bunch of big silver skulls. Do you think there are more dimensions than what we’re able to perceive? I don't think so, no. Does anyone in your family have schizophrenia? My half-sister on Dad's side that I've never met. Have you ever been in an abandoned house? A shack, yeah. Do you like art? I positively adore it. I could NOT imagine life without it. How about theatre? I don't care for it. Have you ever made breakfast for someone? Yes, for Sara. Do you talk to your crush? If you have one. Yeah, she's my best fren. If yes, what do you usually talk about? Nowadays I ask her almost daily how she's doing in regards to her progress of recovering from both serious physical and mental stressors. I try to always be an available ear if she ever wants to vent. Would you rather read or watch a video about something? Watch a video. In what ways have you fulfilled some of the hopes and dreams you had as a teenager? I've fulfilled none of those. What’s one stressful thing you’ve been trying to deal with lately? How have you been dealing with it? Inexplicable, chronic boredom/serious anhedonia. I've just... put up with it. I get pleasure out of essentially nothing most days, and it sucks big time. I just try to distract myself and force myself to do things I usually love, though I've been bad about actually succeeding in making me do said stuff... Is there a regional chain of store/restaurant/etc. in your area that you feel very loyal to? MOTHERFUCKIN BOJANGLE'S, BITCH. You think YOU have good fries somewhere? Oh hunny, sit down. Oftentimes, people warn us against getting tattoos or body modifications or dying our hair unnatural colors because we could be judged poorly for them. But has a more “alternative” look ever worked out in your favor? Well, I like myself better with my piercings and tattoos, and that's all that really matters to me. Do you have any daily routine/habit of that you’re really proud of keeping up? No. .-. Pick one of the following activities to do in a forest (assume you would be equally good at each one of these): Foraging for mushrooms, identifying trees, searching for specific types of bugs, trying to build something out of fallen branches and logs. Searching for bugs w/ my camera!!! But that all sounds fun. What’s the hardest class you’ve ever taken? My most recent math course that I failed horribly.
Every year I go to The NY State Fair and look at all the pidges and doves in the poultry barn and see them for sale, and I'm always so tempted. I really want another companion after losing my ringneck years ago. My family always worry about health, treatment, and tameness of these birds though. Do you have any insight on fair birds?
Your family have valid concerns.
For this ask, I’m going to have to focus primarily on health before we can even touch temperament and tameness.
Most Pigeons sold at fairs are gathered by what pigeon breeders derisively call “Pigeon Jockies”, who go from breeder to breeder to auction, purchasing culls and excess and cheap auction left overs to sell as show quality purebreds to new pigeon folks who don’t know any better.
 They sell their unsold left overs to dog trainers and the wild enough looking ones to pigeon shoots.
Purchasing these birds will definitely improve the life of that individual bird...
But it also funds the pigeon jockey business model.
You can expect parasites internal and external, as well as potentially bacterial and viral disease from the sales section of even a respected show.
But pigeon jockies are basically the dregs of the entire sales sections of several shows all combined in one place.
Some of the vendors at fairs actually bred those birds, though.
Always ask as many questions as you can think of.
First and foremost needs to be whether or not they bred the birds themselves.
Ask what breed it is. (Check something like google on your phone for reference photos, if you can)
Then ask What makes that breed unique/why they recommend it.
Even breeders that raise multiple breeds were drawn to each individual breed by something, and have a passion for attaining each breed’s ideal as laid out by the standard.
When it comes to selecting the bird themself, don’t just look at the individual you want.
Look at every one in the enclosure, and single out the bird that looks the worst.
This goes for purchasing or even adopting any animal from a group of two or more.
Always find the sickest in the enclosure and evaluate them first.
Treat that individual as the base line for what you can potentially expect from the individual that you actually want.
You need to make sure that you can meet the medical needs of the bird you want, if they deteriorate to that condition.
We can go more into communicable disease vs neglect, malnutrition, or congenital defects in other asks.
People unfamiliar with a slender breed like the Voorburg Shield Cropper may mistake it for being underweight.
That’s why the reference photos are beneficial.
Actual malnutrition can have a multitude of potential causes; from something as simple as lacking access to food and water, to having access to incorrect foods, to parasites stealing the nutrients from the host before they can be absorbed, throat infections making swallowing painful, congenital organ disorders that make absorption difficult, or organ failure due to age or other underlying disease.
Malnutrition from having insufficient nutrients takes time, but is very simple to fix.
Congenital disorders or deformities can’t be fixed, but can’t spread to other birds either, so there is no danger to any other resident birds.
Pathological disease runs the gamut from curable with full recovery, to curable but likely to cause permanent damage, to incurable, to terminal.
For petty much any other species, a reputable breeder or rescue will be able to guarantee that they are disease and parasite free.
Pigeons have not a single one of the legal protections afforded to domesticated animals.
Lab rats and mice have literally more legal protection than pigeons not being sold as meat.
Intentionally torturing a pigeon to death is legally equivalent to pest control.
That’s not to say that pigeon keepers habitually torture them, mind you.
But pigeons don’t get vet care.
Birds that look sick or weak are usually just killed and disposed of.
I emphasize the word look this way because the biggest advantage inherent in a strong immune system is also the biggest danger: That individual is not effected by a population of the pathogens they are immune to.
That does not mean that there are no pathogens.
It just means that the pathogens they have are presently in too low a number to directly effect that individual’s health.
No one with any sense sells obviously sick animals.
But pigeons can have a sub-clinical parasite load or active infection with out looking obviously sick.
No one thinks to check, and there are no legal consequences for not checking like there are for pretty much any other domesticated species.
That’s why I say to quarantine any new bird, no matter where it comes from or what it looks like on arrival.
Full four weeks in isolation, with a vet appointment for both a throat swab and fecal check as close to arrival as possible.
Each new bird I take in costs an additional $70 in vet bills, if perfectly healthy.
Depending on what we find, it may be anywhere from $85 to $140, to near $200, depending on what tests are needed to prove the pathogen cleared, and whether or not I already have the meds on hand.
I wish that instructions to “Plan for a diseased or parisitized animal” only applied to things like fairs and show sales pens.
But for pigeons, specifically, it applies to every sale, adoption, or rescue.
I have lots of posts about temperament and bonding.
Until they no longer need to take meds, don’t worry too much about bonding.
Handling is going to be scary while they have to endure meds being regularly injected or forced down their throats, so it’s best to just avoid stressing them as much as possible.
It’s way better to talk to them through the quarantine and spend quiet time nearby, but not try to touch them.
When they are done with meds, you can work on teaching them that your hands bring good things and are safe to interact with.
I have lot of asks that go into bonding in much more detail.
Search shy, skittish, feral, tame, bond, and friend.
Asks don’t have the option to tag them unless you edit them after posting, and I forget to more often than not, especially when I have a back log.
But you should be able to find most of the bonding asks through searching those words.
