Captain Squad Headcanons

Warning: LONG post.

They all hang out on Skype the most because y'know...different prefectures lol.

The Miyagi captains see each other a lot tho!

The current second-year captains especially exchange advice a lot since they're newest to it.

Shibuya (Tokonami Captain; I'm just guessing here): Guys I think I accidentally started a disagreement between the first-years and I feel really bad about it, what do I do?

Futakuchi (Date Tech Captain): Look, I start 90% of the fights on my team so...

Towada (Ougiminami Captain): Our team just settles it in a death match.

Terushima (Johzenji Captain): We don't really fight per say, the gym just accidentally gets set on fire on occasion.

Komaki (Kakugawa Captain): Why do I feel like I'm the only one who actually has it semi-together?

Fr tho all the captains envy Komaki so much because his team is literally the only decently-sane one among them.

Like the biggest problem he has to deal with other than teens being teens is Asamushi getting too fired up sometimes and Hyakuzawa accidentally hitting his head on doorways.

As for dynamics among them...

There is a mutual agreement to keep Kuroo and Daishou separated at all times because the power of petty exes is too much for them (Iizuna is in charge of making sure they're at least 6 feet apart when possible).

The ONLY time those two have ever agreed on something was when some asshole started insulting their first-years.

The guy still gets nightmares about it.

Oikawa and Ushijima are also kept apart most times, though Oikawa's getting better at understanding him while Ushijima is starting to get why Oikawa feels the way he does.

They like to bitch about their fellow year-mates too.

Daichi complains about Suga's chaoticness and Asahi's timidness.

Kuroo complains about Yaku at any opportunity (though rarely Kai).

Oikawa loudly whines about the "disrespect" he endures from all the third-years (barring Yuda, the one who was crying with pride for all of them).

Daishou is fed up with how unhelpful his third-years are when it comes to any life advice (he doesn't have it together, but nobody else does either, sooo).

Bokuto likes to join Oikawa in his protest against "cruelty against captains"; the one he complains most about is Konoha, but the rest of them are still talked about very frequently.

Nakashima always follows up his complaints with something positive about them. Daichi is both jealous and in awe of this (little does he know it's a technique developed to stop Takeru from decking his siblings sometimes).

Ushijima doesn't like to complain about his teammates much bc he doesn't really see the point when you could just tell them they're being annoying dicks.

Iizuna's complaints usually aren't too bad and far between, but on days when Itachiyama loses practice matches due to the team's attitude...whoo boy.

Suwa is like...so calm? And his complaints are always so minor? And always with a completely patient expression? And the captains are so confused in the beginning because their only prior personal experience with Kamomedai is the few Hoshiumi interviews people manage to get and that kid sure as hell isn't this calm.

And then one day Nozawa is making provocations worthy of Futakuchi and he comes in complaining and everyone's just like there it is.

Echigo's pretty chill too, since Tsubakihara isn't a particularly rambunctious team, but some days Teradomari gets completely slandered for the dumbass moves he pulls during practice on occasion (he's trying to show off to the underclassmen; spoilers, it's not working, but Himekawa politely claps for him at least).

Kiryuu always feels really bad about venting even when it's clear he needs to (he was the one who put in the "no insulting the second or first years" rule since he felt it was unfair to the underclassmen), but he's getting better.

Him and Oikawa trade mental health tips sometimes.

The previous captains like to drop in sometimes.

It's canonical that the Date Tech third-years can't leave their underclassmen alone, so they show up most often.

The two Komakis confuse everyone to no end.

Ikejiri and Komaki H (Tokonami's old captain) show up the most for their team.

Ikejiri is delighted to catch up with Daichi (they start having monthly catch-up sessions with Yui too at one point).

Okudake and Akimiya drop by sometimes to make sure their second-years haven't convinced anyone to commit major arson or join a gang.

Moniwa, Okudake and Akimiya are highly respected by everyone for dealing with the hazardous sassy disasters known as the Date Tech, Johzenji and Ougiminami second-years.

Shigeru slides in next to Kenjirou and tugs on his pom-pom. “So, whose bright idea was this?”

“Who else,” Kenjirou mutters grumpily, as Terushima Yuuji reaches over to jam a hat on Shigeru’s head.

“There!” Yuuji beams. “Thanks for the drinks, by the way. I think my fingers are just about to freeze off.”

Shigeru looks over the table overflowing with photographs, journals, sticker sheets, stamps, markers, and stencils. “Tell me again why you wanted to hold a scrapbooking party outside in the dead of winter?”

“The right ambience is essential to a good scrapbooking party,” Yuuji says solemnly. “Since we’re covering a winter theme now, we have to work in winter weather!”

Komaki Yuzuru, Yuuji’s boyfriend, leans over and whispers to Shigeru, “Actually, we were banned from everywhere else once they saw how much glitter Yuuji had on him.”

“They just don’t appreciate my sensitive artistic soul!” Yuuji complains. “You don’t see Kyoutani getting banned from the dining hall for cooking a whole five courses at the waffle station.”

“Kyoutani never did anything that would give the entire student body food poisoning,” Akaashi Keiji counters. “I distinctly remember you, on the other hand, tripping and spilling industrial glue into the soup bar.”

Yuuji just grumbles and slaps down some more glitter.

“Speaking of Kyoutani,” says Shigeru casually, “you guys wouldn’t happen to know what he’d like for Christmas, do you?”

The entire table stops and stares.

“Are you feeling all right, Shigeru?” Yuzuru asks, pressing a hand to his forehead. “Hmm. You are running a bit warm.”

“Maybe it’s a clone,” Yuuji suggests. “A weird one that has to do the opposite of whatever our Shigeru normally does.”

“I’m fine,” Shigeru snaps. “You know what? Forget I said anything.”

Everyone shares looks that Shigeru absolutely does not want to try and decipher. Then Keiji, very gently, says, “Shigeru, you know you can rely on us, right? No matter what the problem is. If something is wrong, or if you’re sick, or anything else . . .”

ANYWAYS 2ND GEN CAPTAINS HCS LET'S GO!!!

- They're all depressed teenagers, what can I say 💀

- THEY'RE TRYING THEIR BEST FUCK

- They've all, no matter who, have cried themselves to sleep wondering how the hell they're going to live up to their previous captains

- Yamamoto and Seguro try to keep up the Nekoma/Nohebi rivalry but in all honesty they really don't hate each other. They try so hard to act like they hate each other, they don't 💀

- Meanwhile Shirabu and Yahaba's rivalry is worse than Ushijima and Oikawa's

- They've fist fought

- Shirabu ended up breaking Yahaba's nose. Yahaba doesn't like to talk about it.

- Akaashi's used to this. He was pretty much the captain last year. He's got this in the bag.

- At least he thinks he does until he meets the crazy first years who think they're "2 cool 4 skool 🥶🥶🥶💢💢💢🔥🔥💯💯‼️😩💦💦"

- Akaashi kicks their asses dw

- Atsumu wants to be intimidating, and he is the the first years. The other new third years don't take him seriously at all. (Especially Osamu and Suna, they laugh at him when he tells them to do something)

- Ennoshita's on the verge of becoming an alcoholic with how his team stresses him out. He's terrifying tho.

- One time he slapped Kageyama upside his head when he was giving him attitude and he was quiet for the rest of the day. (Ennoshita felt bad later once he realized that he hurt Kageyama's feelings more than anything)

- Hirugami is pretty composed about it. He's doing his best. However, he tends to get burned out more often now that he has to guide the whole team.

- Atema is starting to blow up often. At his teammates. Some of the fellow third years have to calm him down. Quite frequently at that. He makes sure to remind his underclassmen that he's just very passionate and cares about them getting better.

- Usuri is scary to the new babies too 😭 they all call him intimidating and he never understands why. Also, another setter captain. So many setters.

- Sakusa is honestly not very good at the captain business. He's not very open with anything at all. Good thing we got Komori to help ✋️💀

- Terushima is having the time of his life, he loves being the captain so much 😪✨️ "Let's go fuck some shit up guys, woo-hoo! :D"

- Yuzuru is constantly on the verge when it comes to the fucks he has to lend. Especially with Hyakuzawa. He has been since he started the captain business in his second year. He's honestly about to send a letter to the previous third years apologizing for being a brat in his first and second year. He tries his best to be nice 😭

- All the other captains just wanna die

- anYWAYS

- Futakuchi probs causes the most fights within the group. He's an asshole 💀 it doesn't combine well with how temptable Yamamoto and Seguro are

- Shirabu, Yuzuru, and Usuri get along well. Almost too well. It's scary. They act like the group of mean kids that live on you're block that torment you and your friends.

- Akaashi and Ennoshita get along pretty well too. They just wanna relax

- Atsumu and Yahaba don't like each other 💀 probably because Yahaba is lowkey a mini Oikawa 😭

- Yamamoto and Terushima are straight ANIMALS like nothing can stop those two. Add Seguro into the mix and they're bouncing off the walls

- Futakuchi and Shirabu don't really like each other, but when they team up? Oh someone's gonna die

- Atsumu really admires Akaashi. He thinks he's really cool 😭 little does he know about Akaashi thinking he's admirable too

- The vice caps get along better than all of them 💀 it's funny with STZW and AJ cuz Yahaba and Shirabu will be staring each other down meanwhile Taichi, Watari, and Kyōtani will be sitting down talking about their Spotify playlists

- Tanaka and Fukunaga get along well too! Tanaka thinks his jokes are genuinely funny and I find that adorable

- Aone kicks it with them too sometimes. He likes their good, happy vibes.

- Shirabu and Ennoshita have laid back in lawn chairs (accompanied by Kawanishi cuz he gets out of stuff) and watched as their team ran multiple laps around the track field.

- The caps are all trying their very best 😭 it's so hard honestly and they just want a break

- Sometimes for team bonding their teammates buy their food just cuz, it's so sweet

for kakugawa i want to say . . . . komaki? i feel like he deserves it LMAO. secretly tired exasperated team captain who's barely holding together his rage and sanity and is full of absolute shit and hides it under the model student facade. it's also why i think kakugawa, despite being a private school, gets along so well with johzenji and dateko, bc komaki's in charge of them!! otherwise futakuchi and terushima would be giving them grief like no tomorrow LMAO

tsubakihara . . . i'm going to go with maruyama. i feel like it makes sense, y'know?? like he's much more open and down to earth than echigo and teradomari seem to be, and i would imagine that's an effect of echigo and tera being raised as stuffy rich kids and maruyama having more freedom in how he can act.

but yeah this was really fun to think about!! i might edit the post to add these on LMAO
