Childhood Chronicles: Fostering Introverted & Extroverted Talents

Yesterday, as promised, we were able to set up the second basketball hoop (Height Adjustable Portable Basketball System) for the historic community of Eatonville, FL. Since I started remodeling a home here I saw a need. Most of the basketball hoops around the community were either broken or completely rusty. I counted a lot of them and couldn’t ignore this need. I served as a missionary in Trinidad and Tobago from 1995-1998 and experienced something very similar. I did something about it back than and Intend to do something now. The youth needs to stay active in order to remain disciplined in their life. Most kids stay out of trouble due to idleness when actively playing ball. I saw this first hand. Basketball also creates a community that enables youth not to do life alone. “Community and Accountability are amongst the two Safest Places on Earth.” Keeping them connected! Today I visited a church and this is the passage that was read and used to get the message across. “Out of generosity they even sold their assets to distribute the proceeds to THOSE WHO WERE IN NEED among them.” (Acts 2:45 TPT). The doggy in this post is also a little girl I adopted two months ago. She was tied to a tree (as seen in this pic) in the community and I felt she needed freedom. I freed her! 🤩 Her name is Zhuri. It was a response to the Thatcher government’s free market philosophy. She felt this had opened up a period of bitter conflict as young people grew more and more frustrated and refused to accept the logic of an economic system which deprived them of a productive and meaningful future’.

Ella: ‘This series was made between 1987 and 1991, after Tish returned from London to Elswick, this time as a single mother, with me in tow. She was shocked with how much the area had changed in the relatively short time she had been away. The images focused on racism and cultural diversity. The tension in the area can be felt and seen in the nasty National Front graffiti which was appearing, but this young couple seem to be enjoying a tender moment, and I have always loved it’
