Lowkey think Maxine is a kpop stan, and especially a Twice girlie. She would most definitely get Xander into it, as well. His preferred groups are NCT and Monsta X but he learned Talk the Talk with Max before she went to a concert-her first ever because of her strict parents. Not only was it her first concert, but she, her brother, and Xander flew to Melbourne to watch the Ready to Be Tour. It changed her life, and they were all sobbing by the end. She’s the type of fan to decorate her light sticks, watch the interviews, and actually knows what they’re saying because she studies Korean. Xander doesn’t really know what he’s doing, but he goes around and talks to everyone, getting excited when recognized, and taking pictures. He loves waving his light stick and singing along to anything he understands.

Nash is also an Ateez fan. His tall, gangly atiny self slaying any concert fit he tries on because of his plethora of cowboy hats and access to suits. Libby also is a hardcore stan, loving the aesthetics and concepts. They both attended a concert, decked out as the most goth cowboy couple you can imagine. I think they also got to meet Seongwha and San backstage, after, snagging a picture with the whole group because Hawthorne ThingsTM. And playing off that, Libby is also an Engine. That vampire concept she *eats* up. They attend concerts in their downtime, whether Queen, Måneskin, indie groups, Kpop, or anything else that catches their vibe. They are the fans who go all out in their concept inspired concert fits, learn the fan chants, and always take pictures with strangers. They love the concert experience.

Don’t think any of the others would be stans, really, but Grayson listens to Le Sserafim and New Jeans occasionally, when he thinks no one is around. Xander found him once. Grayson turned it off immediately with embarrassment as his youngest brother look at him, mystified before excitedly asking him if he knew the dance to Anti-Fragile. Which Grayson begrudgingly admitted that he did. He’s the type of casual-somewhat ashamed listener, who dances in the shower, says he “listens to a little of everything” and side glances albums when he sees them at Barnes and Noble, when tagging along with Avery and Max to go buy books. The one thing he has kept on the low, is that he is a Stay. His bias is Changbin. He will never tell.

Oh, right. And Xander got Max and her brother a light stick bouquet. Because he’s best boi, Xander.

sooo... you all know those impulsive decisions where you have to validate eachother to show it's a good decision. 🌊 said she'd only buy the Album if I also buy one. Very late reaction to New Jeans’s album ‘Get up’

I’m sorry I’m so late for this but still tho imma post it anyways so new jeans slayed as always obviously

So I had higher hopes for ASAP but it’s kid a growing on me tbh but for the rest I ADORE this album like new jeans (the song) is so chill I’m obsessed, and then we have super shy which is also a bop and I love the dance it was so hard to learn with all of the handwork but then the satisfaction of learning it after is SO GOOD!

And then ETA is so amazing too and the fact that the MV was filmed on an iPhone is just WOW like I know that they want me to think this but I seriously want an iPhone 14 rn lol and also it’s so teen drama I just love it.

Lastly we’ve got cool with you and get up which are both amazing, chill and so calming I love them they’re like the best on the album tbh and cool with you is on my mind everyday and everywhere but it’s such a bummer tho that get up is only like 40 secs long but that does not change the fact that it’s the best song on this album!! I did hear that get up is supposed to be an alarm sound and that’s the reason why it’s so short and why it’s called get up so later when I’m an adult or just older or smth imma use it as my alarm for sure (rn my sister puts her alarm on so I don’t put mine on)

Conclusion of the century: new jeans is so good and they always give us the BEST songs and i’m absolutely OBSESSED!!

I’m Alison(28)! I started getting into kpop last year with Stray Kids and became a Stay! My bias is Felix! 🩵

I love pretty much all of it though! I super love Yoongi esp his August D stuff. I like BTS, Ateez, Enhypen, and The Rose. I listen to gg too but haven’t found which are my faves yet.

geto: definitely listens to solo artists the most, like dpr ian, dean, iu, eric nam and bibi. if it was to be groups, he’d definitely listen to le sserafim or (g)i-dle (gg) and exo (bg). he listens to them when he’s studying, walking to his class, driving leisurely in his car or when he’s cooking. he’s not a hardcore stan like gojo or yuji, but he definitely likes the genre!!

gojo: literal twice, fifty fifty, and newjeans fan. he tries to collect all of the albums and gambles for photocards. he will listen to them everywhere and anywhere, sing their songs in the shower, scream at the top of his lungs in the car, you name it. the biggest fanboy ever !! he will definitely get floor or VIP tickets for concerts with how rich he is.

nanami: acts like he doesn’t listen when he actually does. his stoic expression gives people the impression that he hates k-pop, when he’s literally listening to red velvet’s “russian roulette”. he collects several albums, only because of the concept photos and so that he can listen to the CD’s on his cd player (yes nanami would most definitely still have a cd player). he listens to any group, wanting to explore different songs and concepts. he also listens to underrated artists

toji: he’s most definitely forced to listen to kpop songs LOL. forced as in he hears them everywhere he goes, in the store, restaurants, even the public restrooms, literally cannot escape them because of how popular it has become. but he’s been liking newjeans’s “omg” because, IT IS A CATCHY ASS SONG. he cringes at how he likes it, but he can’t deny how good it is. he’d probably assassinate someone for money to go to a concert and sit there like 😐🙂 the whole time while everyone else is screaming

choso: likes EVERY single damn group. ask him about any group and he knows, even the underrated ones that you probably never heard about. he’s a collector for sure, most definitely has a room dedicated to all of his albums, light sticks and other kpop items. he will go to every kpop concert near him, he may become broke, but not as broke as toji. he appreciates each and every artist, listening to their songs daily and keeping track of comebacks and shows.

sukuna: he hates it. ☠️ (unless someone can defend him)

yuji: same as his brother choso, LOVES and KNOWS every single group. but he’s a hardcore girl group stan, and he will literally talk about any group when you ask him. he knows boy groups, but he isn’t as strongly interested in them besides their songs. he learns the choreographies and makes sure he knows every word of the lyrics so he doesn’t sound too gibberish when he sings.

megumi: same as nanami, looks like he hates kpop when he listens to it. he listens to it when he’s studying or relaxing. he’s definitely a seventeen fanboy, he loves their different concepts and comebacks, like megumi sets a timer each time they have a new comeback. if it’s a girl group, he’s definitely a dreamcatcher or red velvet fan. he’d also be the type to like day6 and the rose.

ok so i have this thing in which, every time i gain a new hyperfixation, i imagine the characters as k-pop idols so here is basically my word vomit of how i think the aftg characters would be as k-pop idols and random scenarios i think they would be in because math class SUCKS

KEEP IN MIND i have literally only read like a third into the first book so 99% of my aftg knowledge comes from either

1. lurking on the aftg tag on social media

2. watching the book leo’s 2-hour long aftg video

3. ao3

and 4. reading goodreads review, so please excuse me if the characters feel ooc I AM NOT AN EXPERT so anyways here it is

1. neil josten: definitely that one k-pop idol who korean fans hate but international fans love. man’s definitely created a twitter/tiktok account dedicated to defending his members (especially a certain andrew minyard) that somehow managed to blow up so he’s basically living a double life lmao. he gives me main dancer energy but i feel like he could also be a main rapper

2. andrew minyard: he would be the k-pop idol that everyone thinks is untalented and unskilled and like makes everyone so confused as to how he debuted but then suddenly actually put effort into performing one day and everyone’s like “holy shit he’s actually GOOD???” he gives me all-rounder vibes ngl but i feel like he’d be a good singer (please tell me if he’s like canonically a shit singer or smth that would be so funny)

3. kevin day: leader obviously (though i feel like the foxes would have that thing where there’s like a leader and a co-leader ykwim?) but anyways probably the one that’s like really blunt and critiques the other members during practice which some stans hate bc yk but also a good portion of the fandom would really appreciate bc his criticism and borderline insults actually help the members improve pretty well. leader, main dancer, lead vocals probably

4. nicky hemmick: the guy that you either love or hate, there is literally no in between. honestly seems pretty likable at first but then makes some low key messed up jokes that puts people off. really talented tho, possibly ace/allrounder. he also would eat gg choreos up

5. aaron minyard: the “normal” minyard (he very much is not) prob the one that the cishet girlies love bc he gives off “mysterious bad boy” energy when he’s literally a fucking nerd lmao. STAN ATTRACTOR literally the felix of this hypothetical k-pop group. i feel like he and andrew got scouted to be a k-pop idol while they were buying groceries or something and were like eh why not and auditioned for fun just to actually pass

that’s all i can do for now because my next class is starting in literally 2 minutes uhh if i get more ideas for the other characters then i’ll probably edit this or make a thread or smth idk

Goodness no. Instiz is a garbage site, like TMZ but for misinformation. But I guess the historical revisionism, finger pointing and misinfo on that thread is the predictable step for k-pop stans to take given the drama lol.

I’m on the road right now so I can’t dig out the sources but here’s the timeline as I remember it:

- Bang PD hired Min Heejin in 2019 to oversee the branding for HYBE (his new company), and to produce the first girl group out of HYBE.

- BigHit held Plus Global Auditions in 2019 for that purpose, the trainees were split between BigHit and Source Music, but soon all the female trainees moved to Source to streamline operations for both BTS and the new group.

- The plan initially was for NewJeans to debut under Source Music where Bang PD retained control, but it became clear they had creative differences. These differences were over things such as how much lore should be central to a group (note how BTS, TXT, ENHYPEN and other Bang PD groups have WEBTOONs for example), while MHJ has said on record several times that she hates how lore is used in k-pop, among other differences. ADOR - a separate label which was to be independent from Bang PD and HYBE, was created for that purpose.

- Bang PD continued his goal for a girl group that matched his preferences in Source Music. He used the remaining resources at BigHit and Source Music to achieve this, added trainees for the final lineup from Pledis (Yunjin) and Wizone (Chaewon and Sakura), while ADOR hired more outside help. According to an earlier interview by MHJ, each new label had the same amount of initial investment. The debt incurred by MHJ while at Source Music was moved to ADOR, Gfriend was operating at a loss during that time, but the launch of Le Sserafim was based on the same initial investment. And no, ADOR was not the reason Gfriend disbanded. Aside from the fact there’s no real motive, the timelines also don’t match up. That was a decision that came from the top.

- NewJeans was meant to debut before Le Sserafim, but their debut was delayed because MHJ said the girls didn’t feel ready. So they added a few more months to train. Le Sserafim had members who had been idols in the past which sped up their training time and so they debuted first, then NewJeans a few months later.

- MHJ and Bang PD have clashed on creative differences first at Source Music on the direction the new gg would take, then on the question of how successful NewJeans signature sound would be at ADOR, then on the belief that he is complicit in Belift plagiarizing her ideas to create a NewJeans copy in Illit… but none of that has had to do with the resources given to the sub-labels when they were established.

- Buddies have been looking for a scapegoat for Gfriend’s disbandment for years. Picking MHJ given everything that’s happened is expected but doesn’t line up with the facts.
