Just a small random rant about Yassen and the casting for the series~

Something I love about the tv adaptation's change from the books, was the casting and description for Yassen. It was so different, and no matter what, I couldn't ever dislike it.

In the books, Yassen is described as having light blond hair, fair skin and an athletic build like that of a dancer. In the movie he has red hair and fair skin, again looking athletic but not exactly like how he is described in the books. However, in the tv series, he has dark hair, much more pigment, and his body looks, well, not perfect by standards. He has a normal looking appearance. Not rugged abs that you can see through his shirt or bulky muscles. Instead, he has toned arms but not that slim or thick. His torso is trim, but you can see the vaguest hint of a belly. Yassen isn't, by visual, some ripped, rugged assassin with a crazy build. Instead, he looks like an average person. He looks real. He looks like someone you would run into at a coffee shop on the way home from work. And I love this. I am not trying to shame or point out Thomas Levin's body in any negative way, but to embrace how he fits the role of Yassen. His normalcy in the role of such a complex and wonderful character is incredible, especially in season three when we get more domestic and personal scenes involving Alex and Yassen. It feels so much more believable and developed than if he were "model" perfect, if that makes sense.

I also want to point out how the current Yassen is different from the younger one. In addition to finding out what is expected of him, what he has to do, what he is capable of, what he is taught by John: we can also see how the world and his work changed him. By his mannerisms, we can see through just a few flashbacks the major differences. How he speaks is calmer, more like John in the fact that he is causal no matter the situation. He never shows people what he is really thinking through his tone or expressions apart from a few times when we almost catch a glimpse, and he stops himself (mainly when talking to Alex). He "knows his place." His confidence makes everyone stop in awe, uncomfortable, scared; unsure. Every inch of his body conveys his character in the smallest ways. I love it so very much. Hats off to those who did the casting. Hats off to Thomas Levin. Thank you for making one of my favorite characters even better.

"Another time, maybe."

When season 3 came out a day earlier than expected but tomorrow is when you have a free schedule and can watch it, but now your whole feed is people freaking out about it and you're dodging spoilers left and right:

I just now that all my guts are going to be sobbed out of my body on the night of April 5th. Like, y'all don't realize what's gonna go down when I see that my beloved british boy is getting more trauma. Am I going to hate it? Am I going to love it? Did I wait for this weekend for what seems a billion years?

I've recently been on the kick of making bracelets for the summer in hopes of actually wearing more jewelry and dressing up for the mundane. Inspired by all the preppy swifties and the concert-going kpop stans, I decided to give myself the freedom to be just like them, only I would choose a word that really reflected what life and emotions are rn. Here we have it: *desolation*

Why did he sit next to me on the stairs. He said he was freezing. I could see him shiver. They looked at us weirdly. Why didn't he care? Why did he not leave? Am I worth staying?

When you get excited because you think you're about to chat with the moots and instead its some horny bot in your inbox. oOoh yEaH, I waNt yOU, mY hOt lItTle bOt-frick off, Jessica.

This may be ill-received, or it could go unnoticed by everyone, but I really wanted to give this boy some recognition.

He debuted.

He debuted!!!

He may take that back, but I will always remember today as the day that the mighty Beomhan finally made his debut.

I am not one of the stans that will never find any faults or shortcomings in their favorite idols and their talents. No, I have always made a point to be as real and open as possible. And because of that, I can say with confidence that Beomhan's debut single, 'Me Myself & I' is not what I expected, and that's okay. The rhythm pacing is kind of odd and consistent, giving a sound that is repetitive and not as hooking as it could be. The mixing feels raw and not in the way that you want. The camera work is a bit amateur, and the vocals aren't the best but he sings quite steadily and with feeling. There are shortcomings but there is something that billion-dollar budgets can't replicate, and that is the genuine smile on his face, the expressions in his dance, the time given to the backup dancers-his willingness to share his stage and important time, and the confidence that he has in his voice and body. He is a good dancer with quick moves and energy-coming from a trained dancer, myself. He has the visuals-GOSH HE HAS VISUALS and heaven knows, the personality to let him stand out like a light in a cave of the industry. I mean, this dude flips bacon with bread, how can you get any better than that-

Beomhan is insanely talented. And selfless.

He is such an aware person, never letting any of the hate or criticism go unnoticed. He is human. He won't have the best quality of music videos, he won't have the vocals of world-renowned idols, yet. He worked so hard to be here, now, and the mess of a company that he supported with everything really let him down in ways we couldn't imagine. He has come so far in so many ways, and he has struggled so much. He did well. He is doing well on this.

I'm saying that it really isn't an incredible debut, but it has so much heart and power behind it that it makes me prouder and more impressed than any other I've witnessed in all my stanning years. I loved watching the mv: I watched it at least 5 times, and streamed on spotify more. Not because I want to get him the streams, but because I enjoyed the song. I enjoyed the dancing. I enjoy watching him. He's an entertainer, and that's why I follow him.

Because of how he starts now, it leaves all the more for him to grow in talent and himself. Please, don't hate on his accomplishments but don't be delusional for the sake of false enthusiasm. There is so much talent that there is no reason for either option.

Beomhan, you have made me laugh and smile so much. You have helped me through some horrible times. You have made me so proud. You deserve so much. I hope you can be proud of yourself. Beomhan, fighting!!

You never realize how much you have truly grown until you are faced with something that made you break in the past, and now you don't even flinch. To all of you: it will get better, in some way, shape, or form, and you will be all the stronger for your endurance. I love you. Keep going.

Physical validation, academic validation, vocal validation...it's all great and each one has its own beauty, but I really can't express the amount of pride and worth I get from athletic validation. Like, whaddyou mean you are impressed by how well I did that push-up? You mean I actually beat those dudes in that lift? Gosh dang, give me those high-fives and thumbs up, I'm a sucker for those things after sweating it out. Gimme gimme gimme
