I saw a post about holiday stuff and people writing Jewish characters celebrating Christmas and it made me laugh, not because this is a thing that's funny that people do but because it reminded me that I Headcanon Leonard Snart technically Jewish. As in if anybody asks that is what he'll say because his mother was, but he's both not religious and celebrates any holiday that involves giving a gift because if there's a holiday of any religion that involves gift-giving and he does not get a gift for Lisa there will be a whole guilt tripping 😂 Lisa guilt tripping him is the part of the bunny trail that made me laugh.
The only verse where I play him as actually celebrating Jewish holidays is in the verse where he is related to Jax's because their moms were cousins and he gets invited to Holiday things by Jax's grandma. I wish there was Stein RPers out there that I knew of tho bc I can totally see that man finding this out and then just inviting Leonard to any and every holiday meal he has with his family 🤣

Lisa celebrates Hanukkah and Cisco celebrates Christmas. They get a tree that ends up with an eclectic mix of ornaments; some are religious in theme, and others are more akin to mementos strung up and all the more appreciated for doing so.
Lisa teaches Cisco how to play dreidel (she almost always wins somehow, defying chance) and the meanings behind her traditions. In return, Cisco plays for her the songs his family sing to each other at this time of year, and also shares his favorite Christmas dish, arroz con dulce.

A seasonal fic I started last Hanukkah and just managed to finish in time for this one... Expertly beta read by @hfeproductions (this year) and @bold-sartorial-statement (last year!)

It’s only been a couple of months since Mick watched the jump ship shimmer and fade, taking his old partner away. “All this damn time travel,” Len had said. “I stay here, I’m never gonna forget the Oculus.”
But Mick didn’t think it was that. He saw the way Len had been looking at him, skulking in dark corners of the ship like a memory. “You’ve changed,” he said, jealous eyes darkening.
“It’s been four years,” Mick shot back. “You think you were gonna come back and I’d still just be some layabout criminal with nothing better to do?”
Len looked at him with a blank face and said nothing.
Mick’s tried to call him, once or twice, since Len’s been back in Central City. But both times the silences were too awkward, the distances too vast between them. And not just the ones you can measure in miles or years.

What are your thoughts on Jewish Snart? It's always been a potential headcanon of mine that his mother was Jewish and he and Lisa potentially never learned about that part of their family. :-)

i think his synagogue was the only safe place he could find, growing up. i think it helped keep him and lisa fed, even as he tried to keep all the overly-helpful clergy at arm’s length, no he’s fine no he doesn’t need anything else she’s just hungry
i think he never went to hebrew school but he brought lisa there, and to sunday school too, for a few more hours away from lewis. he went more, before he lost his mother--a young child, fists clutched tight on his mother’s pant leg, learning bits and pieces of hebrew before she passed and left him alone with lewis and away from the congregation.
lisa’s mom wasn’t jewish, but that doesn’t stop leonard from, a few years after lisa is born and they lose her mother, too, putting her in classes at the shul. the clergy knows his situation, pieced together from what they’ve heard, but he doesn’t stick around long enough for them to help.
it only lasts a few years, and rarely consistently, as leonard goes in and out of juvie, then jail, and lewis certainly won’t take her there. she knows bits and pieces, half-faded memories and words on the tip of her tongue. it means more to lenny than it does to her, but it means enough to lenny that it means something to her.
she steals him jewish stuff sometimes, a “hebrew for dummies” book as a joke-but-not-a-joke, a kippah with the flash symbol (another joke-but-not), a beautiful mezuzah that he carries from place to place--a mezuzah that lives on the doorpost to the library on the waverider, now. (you can see mick, especially, flit his fingers across it as he enters, but only if you’re fast enough)

Never have I ever written a Coldatom HP fic?
I haven’t, but that would be cool and would love to do that.
My potential fic would take place during The Deathly Hallows, with Hufflepuff (and muggleborn) Ray Palmer on the lam from the Ministry, hiding out in the British countryside. On one of his trips into a muggle town for supplies, he runs into recently graduated Slytherin Leonard Snart and his Third Year sister Lisa, who are also on the run due to an incident between their father Lewis and Umbridge (and maybe Len casting a petrifying spell on the annoying woman when her people came to seize their family). While Leonard is more than happy to forget they saw each other and continue their separate ways, Ray manages to convince him that their combined skills could potentially keep them safe longer. Lisa points out that one well placed spell could probably force the guy to spill the beans on them anyways, so Len concedes, and the three go on together.
It doesn’t take long for Lisa to notice that Ray’s awkward fumbling around her brother may not entirely be from intimidation, or that Lenny’s snide remarks become more specific than one would expect of someone that actually disliked the other. Like since when was Lenny paying attention to the small but festive Chanukah table in the Great Hall right before Christmas break the past five years (besides helping himself to doughnuts and envelopes with a galleon tucked inside)? And how did Lenny know what Star Wars even was? The younger Snart soon decides she may have to meddle on the two’s behalf, because she needs some form of entertainment to keep hiding out bearable.

Leonard Snart of Earth-1 goes by "Leonard" or "Len" or even "Lenny" (if it's Lisa, or Barry being cheeky). But when he encounters his past self - his still a little kid, past self - Leonard calls that child-him "Leo".
And I just... have to wonder at what kind of childhood differences the two Leonards must have experienced that E1 Leonard set aside his childhood nickname and reinvented himself as a criminal, but EX Leonard still goes by Leo and has become a hero who fights prejudice and bigotry every day.
One possibility is that their childhood nicknames are mirror images and just as E1 Leonard cast of "Leo" to become "Len", EX Leonard gave up "Len" to become "Leo". It's certainly an interesting idea, at any rate. Though I tend to prefer the idea that EX Leo chose to keep his childhood nickname, perhaps in defiance of the circumstances he found himself as he grew older and embraced himself as a queer man.
The names themselves lend an interesting look at the version of Leonard who bears them. The name Leonard is German in origin and has a couple of meanings: lion strength (or lion strong), lion-hearted, brave lion... The lion connection comes from that first part "leo" which means 'lion' though the name "Leo" as a standalone is generally associated with the meaning "lion-hearted". The standalone name of "Len", however, is specifically associated with "lion strength".
E1 Len has focused his whole life on being strong enough to protect his sister from Lewis. He sees his feelings - for Lisa and Mick and eventually Barry too - as a weakness that could be exploited. But the events surrounding his father's death show him that strength alone - being the best thief there is, isn't enough. And that's who we see on the first season of Legends. Len's trying to listen to what his heart has to say and he's not getting it right yet, but he's still trying to find out who he is when he doesn't have his father hounding his steps anymore.
Meanwhile EX Leo thrives on the strength of his heart. He wears his emotions on his sleeve to some degree and it gets him into trouble sometimes. (Or a lot.) But he lives in a world where the people in charge tell him his heart is wrong for loving another man and Leo'll be damned if that doesn't make him want to double down and be every single thing those assholes hate. (And he is. He's a Jewish, mixed race, gay man who is probably somewhat gender non-conforming as well. Everything Nazis hate.) His time with the Legends maybe gives him something he never had before, though. A chance to breathe and see who he is when the fight isn't personal; to find out what other kinds of strength he has inside of himself.
And, of course, regardless of the Earth he hails from, Leonard Snart is a brave man with a good - strong - heart.

the rogues are jewish and here’s some content (feel free to add to this whether with more characters because there are so many rogues and i don’t know that much about all of them or to add onto these headcanons but only if you’re also Jewish).
Len’s mother is Jewish and that was something that he took comfort in-it was something that Lewis would never be able to take away from him. Lisa’s mother isn’t Jewish but later in life she converted after growing up with her brother’s (secret) traditions. he keeps his mother’s magen david somewhere safe, and it’s one of the few things he’s never tried to pawn.
everyone at the orphanage that Evan grew up in was raised with Jewish traditions because Ms. McCulloch was Jewish, although he never truly felt attached to the religion for a long, long time. he still doesn’t really know what his beliefs are, but he always makes sure that the portion of the money he sends back to the place where he grew up is in a multiple of 18.
Axel is a patrilineal Jew, which he only found out after searching through birth records. he was raised Agnostic, though, and he’s not sure if he can really fully call himself Jewish.
Mick was raised in an interfaith household (Jewish and Catholic) he burnt his house down. the uncle that took him in was also Jewish, and up until he ran away he was raised Jewish. he’s never been quite able to shake the religion, and he doesn’t know if he wants to.
Hartley’s a Jewish convert (I am very uncomfortable with the idea of the Rathaway parents being Jewish, although I do think that Jerrie also converted), and he converted after leaving home. He’s not incredibly religious, but he’s much more devout than Axel, Evan, etc. he connects strongly with the idea of how important tzedakah (see stealing and giving food to homeless people) is and it’s very important to him.
Marco officially converted to Judaism following Claudio’s death, although he’d held an interest in converting for a long time after his brother converted. he wears his brother’s magen david necklace and it’s Very important to him.

If Bombshells ever returned, maybe to explore the aftereffects of the war. Here are some superheroines and supervillainesses that could join the fight into the new era. The Cold War.
Jesse Quick; Jesse would totally join the families providing their homes to the displaced Jews of Europe while at the same time protecting her city from all sorts of crime. But her storyline might come with learning that in her need to help everyone and solving everyone's problems since she has the technology and the privlege, well... kinda appears as a white savior. At least to Lisa Snart which brings me to...
Golden Glider: Well I think we can all guess that Lisa has a Jewish-like last name and while her big bro, Captain Cold, Leonard was working with the Nazis, I am so arguing that he was just conveinately converting in order to save his skin and his sister's. Anyway with her brother in jail and Europe in shambles after the war, Lisa can travel to America with other displaced Jews. Some families were kind enough to "foster" these peoples which is where Jesse comes in. Well Lisa isn't the type to accept the "pity" and dislikes how priviliged a life, Jesse leads. Then comes a whole new yet classic Flash vs the Rogues rivalry.
Nyssa ah Gul: How can we forget another misplaced Jew. Well not Jew but Ra ah Gul's other daughter, Nyssa, whose entire adopted family died in the concentration camps while Ra was off whatevering with the Lazerus Pit. But since Ra's long gone from the picture, I suppose Nyssa will have to seek answers from Talia about why she didn't try to help her or contact her after finding out they were sisters.
Mya: Meanwhile after WWII, India is revving up for a revolution after being used and abused by the British Empire in a war they didn't even want to be in. And after being in the war, STILL treated like second class citizens. That's why Myra, prodigy of Shiva is up to lead a revolution for her people.
Gypsy: Let’s not forget about all the other groups that Nazis were prejudiced against. Cynthia Reynolds or "Gypsy" as the SS slurred against her and her Romanian family. But with Europe's landscape in disarray, Cynthia can use her earth-bending powers to help and educate people that she is more than the fortune telling, pick pocketing stereotype that the world believes.
Volcana: Now I know we didn't really get into Italy's part in WWII, but someone with volcano powers would totally be working in Italy, specifically Pompeii. The one issue is that, like in her origin story, she was working for Mussolini against her will and the Italian still wants their "super weapon" under lock and key in case of WWIII.
Thorn: Meanwhile the late 40s-early 50s is totally not a time to be woman with a mental illness. Especially when the "understanding" doctors try to lobtomize you. So Roselyn Forrest's double personality disorder is a big problem in her life. Especially since her second personality is a scythe weilding maniac and her uncle wants to put her in an institution. Added to the fact that she is still suffering under Irish discrimination. Hopefully the Batgirls can help, not only change child labor laws, but views on mental illness too.
Giganta: A gorilla turned into a girl. Why shouldn't that be an experiment by the crazy Americans or Russians in a way to beat each other as the world superpower. Well technically the Russians wanted to send a gorilla into space and beat the Americans, but they thought a woman astronaut (or as they called cosmonaut) would make them look better. (All true look up Valentina , first woman in space). But besides being part of the space race, Giganta can bring spotlight to Africa where she was born, and which is being divided by the major world powers for exploitation.
Crimson Fox: Constance D' Amis, French heiress would be part of the small army of woman workers during the YALTA conferance trying to get their say into how to rebuild Europe for the benefit of all. Who knows, maybe she even talked to Selina Delgatti. Hey French heiresses and Italian heiresses must know each other. Plus she expels hormones that can make anyone under her thrall which leads me to...
Queen Bee: Another pheromone expelling woman. A villainess though. Africa wasn't the only one being exploited and colonized. The former Ottoman Empire was being exploited for its oil and Lebenon is taken over by the French (Basically ample reason for Constance to go to Lebenon and fight Queen Bee). And the former queen is certainly not above going to the Russians to fight the US/Europe to get her country back. Or just team up with Lex Luthor to take down Supergirl and get her country back. I just imagine Lex and --- to be like an evil Mr.Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet okay. All suave, witty banter. It makes sense in my head.
Catherine Colbert: A bit like Lois Lane, Catherine is an everygirl. Well if the everygirl was a daughter of an dimplomat and had her sights on making a name for herself in NASA and trying to avoid the pressures of mysgonistic men that woman aren't fit for government. Being told that she is too emotional and should stay in the kicthen, Catherine rebelled by becoming a stone faced, cutting ice queen in the diplomacy track and also a horrible cook.
Artemis and Cheshire: I'm taking a bit from the YJ story in that Artemis and Cheshire are half-french, half-Vietnamese. Since their abusive father was loyal to the Nazis, he disowned them and cast off their Vietnamese mother in Japanese concentration camps. While Artemis made it to America and tried to stay on the good ol American democratic way (while fighting petty looters in the streets of Gotham as one does), Cheshire went to Vietnam where she works as an assasin, for the communists and the non-communists. It doesn't matter to her as long as she gets paid. But times are changing in Vietnam as the fights about communism between the North Vietnamese and South escalate.
Lady Blackhawk: Zinda Blake, hero of WWII and the Blackhawk brigade comes home to nothing. No money. No pension. No respect. Life as a veteran has no perks since no one has money to pay in Europe. Plus she'd still be trying to adjust to civilian life after nonstop combat and the inevitable PTSD while the Germany she loved is split into two. Hopefully Rudi and Helen will help to keep her in a safe place until she can get back on her feet.
Miss Martian: While I don't know whose in Harley, Ivy and Viktoria's circus, I feel like Miss Martian would find a safe haven there. While she did not experience the WWII, she did experience a similar prejudice and genocide on Mars being a white martian so I bet she can help with reprations. Or just join Starfire on the fire squad...wait nevermind. Fire is Martian weakness. Well at least have her and Starfire being alien girlfriends exploring the strange Earth world together.
Rocket: Again, haven't had the joy of reading the final vol of Bombshells United so I don't know exactly what Bumblebee has been up to nor the racism she had probably experienced. But Raquel would be in a similar boat. An African American teen in an unjust pre-Civil Rights movement society with the added difficulties of teen mom hood. I really want some spotlight on her whether she joins the Batgirls or strike out on her own or helps Icon just like in the comics.
Mercy Graves: Alongside Lex wherever he is, I want a similar debut to what Mercy did in JL. Mercy takes over LexCorps during Luthor's absence, absolutely crushes it and makes it more of a success than Luthor ever did because she is not obsessed with the Kryptonian heroes. Maybe she even teams up with Waller? Who knows? Or even have two heads, Mercy Graves and Lena Luthor, making millions and making plans, evil or no, always ending on top.
Silver Banshee: A woman whose screams causes people to age. How they could NOT use her in a war, I do not know. But I picture Siobhan's arc going something like after her family dies in battle or something or other, she taps into her genetic banshee powers. Fueled with grief/cynicsm/vengeance she travels around the Iron Curtain, causing death since death is a mercy compared to living in destitute misery.
Plastique and Roxy Rocket: One is a Canadian explosives expert, another just really, really loves rockets. Both would be very useful on either side of the Cold War. They're traditionally illanesses so I could see them as double agents like Cheshire, working for whoever pays the most for their time.
Roulette: Roulette’s big thing is gambling on illegal cage fighting activities. Well lets up the ante by having her big gamble being stoking US/Russian tensions. After all the longer the war goes on, the more she gets paid for her information on the other side, her contacts for weapons, her spies etc. She'd be rolling in dough, and loving it even when under threat of nuclear destruction.
Fire and Ice: No idea how the heck they would fit in to a post WWII world. But let's suppose they want to escape Brazil and Antartica respectively to be able to help out in the aftermath after doing nothing during the war.
Jessica Cruz and Aresia vs Star Sapphire Meanwhile with Hal Jordan out of the picture, let's have the infamous Green Lantern vs Star Sapphire rivalry again.
Lady Shiva: Street fighter, assassin, mother of the future Batwoman, Cassandra Cain. Lady Shiva must be part of the Cold War. She is bit of a anti-hero so I doubt anyone would know where her loyalties truly lie, but she'd be on the side of whoever her daughter wishes to protect.
Cassandra Cain: The new Black Bat, continue Katy Kane's work, and the Batgirl's work, and all the work that needs to be done after WWII. She's the new heroine.

i asked a VERY reputable source and it is never discussed if len and lisa are jewish in the comics. in show, they are because of went, and then because of peyton. so please please keep in mind that they are jewish in tv canon, and so i and a lot of jewish people are really happy about that and would like to consider them jewish in the comics as well. thanks!

Central City was filled with joy and glee when it came to Christmas. Everyone was happy and Barry planned to have a small party with his team after he had a family dinner with Joe and Iris, but when he got a phone from Cisco, there's the first frown he made on the holidays.
"Flash! Cold was going to heist the new restaurant on the corner of 54th Avenue... Go get him!"
"Eh? Why the restaurant?"
Cisco cleared his throat, "Uh, ummm well, seemed like this restaurant had a showcase of the ancient diamond for a decoration."
Barry clicked his tongue, "why it had to be this day!?"
"I think he won't care about Christmas, he's Jewish."
"Damn," the speedster hissed at the phone, "On my way."
After Barry hung up Cisco smiled at the monitor in S.T.A.R labs before he received a kiss from Golden Glider aka Lisa Snart, Cold's sister. She giggled into the kiss and lifted her brow after.
"Did he even have a single idea that my brother tried to set up a Christmas date for him?"
Cisco tilted his head and shrugged, "I don't think so... anyway, your brother owed me once. I'm supposed to have a party with him!"
"Yep, so he sent me, silly," Lisa smirked, leaning closer to him. "Is that work for you?"
"Yeah," Cisco giggled, "fair enough. But he still owed me for lying to the Flash!"

Barry flashed his way to the new fancy restaurant on the streets but surprised because there's nobody in there. The lights were still on, and the showcase— that wasn't even close to some ancient diamond!
"What?" he frowned. Why did Cisco trick him to be here?
"Here you come, Scarlet. I was expecting you to dress better than that."
Barry shuddered when he heard the familiar tone of his nemesis and also his lover, Captain Cold. He turned around ready to say something back but he instantly got speechless when he saw that Cold didn't wear his parka like usual, but the dark blue three-piece suit that fit him so much, too much. Even he got a cold gun in his hands, Barry obviously got distracted by his clothes.
A few seconds had passed before Barry cleared his throat. "W-what? Am I supposed to...?"
"Never mind, your ass looks good in your leather suit." He grinned and Barry couldn't help but blush furiously.
"What are you planning, Cold? Where is everyone?"
"I closed the restaurant. Here's mine, and yours, tonight." Cold gave him his usual smug face, but in that suit, Barry felt like he's dizzy at how handsome Cold was. "Dinner, Scarlet?"
It's Christmas, anyway.
Barry slightly nodded, "...Fine."
"Great, after you."
Cold bowed a little just to tease him as he waved his hand to the private room. Barry sighed, trying not to blush even he knew that Cold might already know his expressions under the cowl, but still.
Barry walked into the room and saw lots of fancy food he'd never afford all of it by his CSI salary. Not for his super-metabolism and he's hungry again just from running to this place.
"—Wow."
"You can take your mask off, I cut the cameras in here so nobody could see your face."
"Uh, umm.. yeah. Thanks..." He looked around and when he didn't see anyone but Cold behind him, he took his cowl off, revealing his flushed face.
That's the moment when Cold grabbed him and pulled his body into a kiss. Barry moaned and submissively let his boyfriend roaming his tongue into his mouth, his teeth slightly bit at Cold's lower lip as a tease. One of Cold's strong hand grabbed his ass, clenching it and making Barry shivered in his arms.
The speedster's face flushed red, as red as his suit after he broke the kiss slowly, arms already wrapped around Cold's neck. "Happy holidays, Len."
"Merry Christmas, Barry." He whispered with a smile, "like my surprise?"
Barry laughed. Yesterday Len told him that he wouldn't be able to be with him on Christmas Day, and here they were. Barry couldn't be happier than this moment.
He loves his boyfriend so much.
"God, I love it... if you said about this dinner earlier I wouldn't say yes to party with Cisco and Caitlin."
"Lisa's on that. They'll understand."
"So you trade your sister with me?" Barry's eyes widen as he sit down on the couch. God, so soft! How could anyone eat in this and didn't get sleepy? "And when I thought it's weird for you to steal something at the restaurant..."
Len smirked, sitting next to him on the same couch. "Part of a plan. I do like you in your stupid leather suit."
"And you're so perfect in these..."
Barry pouted a little as his fingers moving along the garment. It's cotton and silk, well-made as Len's standard and fit him so much. Where's this world's justice?
"Well, it's... yeah. For you." The criminal gave him a smile, the softest one he'd ever seen, not his usual grin and either one still made Barry feel like he's gonna melt into human ice-cream. "Anyway, you should start to eat your food before they get cold."
Barry giggled at the pun, "I hate you."
"You don't. Don't be so cold to me. It's Christmas."
"Len!"
Len just laughed at him like always.

It's still surprised Len that Barry could literally eat all the food he ordered and still craving for a dessert. He let the kid leaned against his shoulder while eating chocolate pudding. Len was strict, yes, but it's Christmas, so he wanted to spoil his little adorable speedster and let him be all clingy as much as he wanted.
Barry Allen was such an adorable kid, it's hard to resist him nowadays.
"You didn't scold me today," Barry looked up. "Can I have chocolate pudding every day?"
"No, it's not good for your health in long-term," Len replied, gently pinched Barry's cheek when the speedster pouted at him. "But I can make you a soy pudding if you want."
"Yes! Yes, please." Barry smiled brightly, nuzzling his face into Len's hand and let his fingers caressed his cheek instead. "Your cooking is the best."
"Hmm... you know how to talk, don't you, Scarlet?"
Len grinned. He moved his thumb to Barry's lips and the hero eagerly sucked it into his mouth, smirking as his eyes were locked on Len's.
"I meant it... It's delicious." Barry left a faint kiss on his thumb, more like licking it around, and that image sent shiver down to Len's lower part as his breath hitched before he even realized.
More than adorable; he's very a tease.
"Barry..." He groaned.
The scarlet hero pushed himself up then climbed to his lap instead. Len's hands resting on his thighs and hummed happily when they shared a sweet, deepen kiss again and again. He could feel Barry vibrated just a very little. It happened when he got excited, or happy, Len assumed it's both in this moment.
"Wish we had a mistletoe," Barry mumbled into his lips.
"Who said we didn't?" Len chuckled and rolled his eyes up.
"Oh—" Barry followed his eyes and grinned, a small mistletoe was hanging above the couch so they were definitely kissing under it. And that made him very, very happy. "I love you!... You did all this for me, even you weren't into Christmas... I..."
"It's because I love you, Barry. I did it on full-heart. You're already my favorite thing to do on holidays." Len kissed him again, searing and so passionate Barry wanted to melt into his hands. The younger kissed him back, blushing hard as he asked breathlessly into his ear.
"I wonder... if you have a Christmas present for me, Len?"
The usual dangerous smirk appeared on his face again, and Barry's heart skipped a beat just from his whisper,
"You'll see, sweetheart."
