Inktober 52 2023 - Week 36 - 'Childhood'
Now this will be very niche but who remembers EYT (or Electronic young Telegraph)? A childhood enjoyment of mine and I tried to recreate it here with characters I made around that age (mewn and Bonzo the dog) along with things I was interested in (naturally wolves, dragons and bats as well as Jazz jack rabbit, Bucky O hare and the Trapdoor).
When I was young the Telegraph newspaper used to come with a kids newspaper (focusing on news stories and cartoons trips aimed at kids) and later on they launched a monthly computer program which had a verity of games and edutainment features. It was actually a lot of fun with quite a bit of heart put into it. It came on floppy disk then PC CD ROM and I have an old PC I'm hoping to get running again in order to document this almost lost series as a relic of the 90's.

Pt 1 | Pt 2
Jazz didn’t know she was different just as much as she didn’t know the definition of ‘normal’.
She started out fine as rain, a beautiful baby girl with pale blue eyes and wispy hair with an ear-splitting cry. She was a healthy baby, a beautiful one at that once you get passed her loud screaming.
The first few years of caring for Jazz were simple as much as it was exhausting. She was a giggling bundle of joy when Jack would swing her around, she stayed perfectly content with her stuffed rabbit when Maddie was in the lab, and she never created a fuzz as she babbled at anyone and everything, even into an empty room.
Maybe that was the first sign of her abnormality. Similar to how the first mistake the Fenton parents made was to leave their daughter alone more and more often.
They didn’t see their daughter's first steps and the encouraging whispers with her as they clapped and cooed. They don’t understand that she always had someone to guide her away from the green chemicals around the halls but was unable to stop her parents from feeding her contaminated food. They don’t hear how she always seemed to talk to the air, giggling and laughing into an empty room along with the process of other voices.
Maybe that's how it started, but her... abnormalities weren’t mentioned until she was enrolled in daycare.
The teachers didn’t know how to handle the too-smart girl as she explains why she won’t read the children's books they provided. They don’t understand why she prefers to be alone in the classroom when recess time came about. And they certainly didn’t understand how this young child, this baby, understood the biological system of the human blood system.
(They don’t see nor understand the ghosts of lonely children trying to play in a room filled with living children, all ignoring their presence. But Jazz could see them, hear them crying in child-like frustration and curling into themselves as they watch the living with envy.)
(Jazz, like the sweet girl that she was, took it upon herself to help. So, she would read out loud to the dead children before realizing they already heard of the stories this daycare had far too many times and demanded different books to entertain them. She would beg the caretakers to leave her in the classroom to keep reading for the children that were left behind far too many times. For children who died a long time, they were very quick to pick up their education as much as Jazz with learning the alphabet to understanding multiplication to learning about biology.)
(The day she had to leave and enter 1st grade was the day she watches the children all leave one by one. She didn’t cry like one would expect when watching her friends leave before her, because she knew they had to leave one day. That's what Granny Vicky told her when she talked about the kids at school. All she did was stand next to the teacher at the door and waved them all goodbye.)
(And if she cried at home with Big Sister Annlee and Sister Rosa then no one would know. Not even her parents.)
The neighbors didn’t understand that the noises they would hear for many nights were Jazz sneaking out late in the night and not a wild raccoon. They didn’t bother to understand until the husband went out the back to take a smoke only to see a child dropping from her parent's fence and booking it towards the streets. She didn’t stop for his cries for her to come back and the husband went back to tell his wife what he saw as she called the local police.
They both waited that night, watching the window as the husband sat down on the sofa with a drink in hand with the wife jittering around the living room. It was later nearly 3 in the morning when they saw the signs of red and blue lights before they could sigh a sigh of relief.
(They didn’t see the way the poor girl cried with flush cheeks or angry red eyes. Didn’t understand as they went back to bed with the knowledge that the girl was going back home when her parents themselves didn’t know.)
(Jazz learned from Annebeth about how the women in burned gowns would always gather in the spring and summer days to sing and dance in the forest in memories of their lives before. She was told to ask first before joining and so she went up to a pretty lady in a green ivy gown and emerald jewels if she can visit their nightly dance. She watched as the woman laughed with a gentle look before she declared how wonderful it was for a young lady to still have manners these days before agreeing to see her that night.)
(Jazz would then visit the ladies and young women in gowns in the night and watch as they dance over water and moonlight, their burns fading away into beautiful white skin. She was told to not bring a flashlight as they didn’t want any light or fire near their celebrations. Jazz learned to dance in the spring and understood how to sing sweet melodies in the summer with other girls dotting and adoring her as one of their own.)
(When she was pulled away by a man in blue and white, she wanted to scream bloody murder, but she was taught better than that by her Big Sisters. So, she silently got in and watched with sad eyes as the Big Sisters she was walking with also looked devastated at her forceful withdrawal.)
Maddy didn’t notice at first how much time her daughter was spending with her now. But to be blunt, it was more of Jazz following and watching her rather than going up and talking to her. Hence, she didn’t worry about her daughter's behavior as long as she was able to do her research. It was during the third week of doing this did her daughter ask if they could go to the doctor.
“Are you sick,” Maddie worriedly looked over her daughter as she reached a hand out to her. Jazz paused, as if the concept of being sick was foreign to her, before nodding rapidly.
“Yeah! I think I’m a little sick Ma... and, and I don’t want you to get sick either. So you have to let the doctor check you too in case I got you sick!”
(Jazz wondered what she was looking at and tilted her head in a curious manner. The spark, a wisp actually, was so very small and fragile looking inside of her Ma. Bearly there if Jazz didn’t take the time to watch her Ma at the dinner table as she ate another slightly green pancake.)
(When she asked around it was actually Old Man Whithel that told her, as he sat on her window stand, that it was the start of a new life, or as he put it, “another doe-eyed sibling for ya to take care of you hear little miss.”)
(Jazz was excited by that news. A baby sibling! Even better, Jazz noticed as she was jumping at the tips of her toes, that it looked like it was a boy with baby black hair and blue eyes too! Jazz was so excited for her new baby brother to come and couldn’t wait until her Ma can finally visit the doctor like how one of her Big Sisters’ told her.)
(She was going to a sister, a sister in charge of her little brother.)
But alas, she didn’t see nor understand why she never considered ‘normal’ to her fellow Amity Parkers. Didn’t understand that the bright firey hair she adored herself or the bright teal eyes she would always be complemented by the others were seen as to abnormal.
She can hear the adults when they talk about her ‘quirks’ and she stood strong when other children said she was a freak like the rest of her family. She wasn’t afraid of the attention she received because, in the end, their words never made sense to her, hence, could not hurt this little girl.
That all changed when a boy, a classmate of hers, called her a witch on her way home.

Dc x Dp Blurb #3
It's late, I'm tired and on my phone so it's weird writing here but I must share this one instantly.
So, I saw a Trans Danny AND Trans Jazz thing earlier and I lost it. The idea that they both are is so good to me, and I have so much angst for it.
Just, neither of their parents even REMEMBER that they're trans. Like Danny's their son, Jazz is their daughter....but only because they know they have one daughter one son and clearly that was correct, not because they remember they're both trans. Acceptance through negligence basically.
Also side note but totally an au where the kids at school know and are like "Hell yeah you go!" About the trans stuff. Dash will push Danny into a locker but if he hears someone deadname his nerd friend he's taking a note from the ghosts and breaking shit.
Now the crossover aspect that's been invading my brain. Danny is visiting Gotham temporarily for something and is just like not hiding that he's trans, he's got a lol pin of the flag on his bag. Class trip with the Fentons being some of the supervisors, they came along to see if Batman was a ghost, and Danny us just very tired at this point. He's king of the realms, come to a midpoint with his 'rogues' after realizing it was more a ghost thing than a hate thing for 99% of them, and finally become friends with most of his class even if Dash still liked to mess with him.
Walking through the museum they're touring with Lancer, and a class from the local high school, Danny ends up near the edge of his classmates group next to the other school group. They're not avoiding one another but also not really talking, but this one kid just goes, "nice flag pin," before showing off the bisexual and polyamorous ones they have.
It's Tim. Because he saw the flag and went :O friend time. And also no one he talked to was with the group he was in, so he'd rather talk to this stranger who probably won't treat him differently since he doesn't know him.
The two talk as they are going, some of the other Casper high students chiming in since hey if a kid is nice to their weirdest classmate they're pretty okay in the books. (50/50 if the class know Danny is Phantom but they totally know he's different from all the osha violations in his house and most of them are so worried after really paying attention after they became friends).
Randomly Jack and Maddie come out of nowhere and grab Danny talking about something to do with ghosts, much to the apparent tiredness and even slight distaste on their kid's face, which they didn't even notice. Tim is unsure what is happening but seeing the dislike on the whole class's faces and some worried looks Danny got he's now wanting to go all detective on him because hey Danny's fun to talk to! Totally not because he's very very gay-
So after they leave, he causally tries to learn more about the two and why the class seemed to hate them, even why Danny himself didn't seem to want to be anywhere near his parents. Of course he tries to be subtle.
"So you're parents seem pretty accepting of you being trans, that's good!"
Maybe not so subtle, in his defense, he hasn't slept recently. Danny tried to smile at it though but completely failed, just giving up and slouching as he shrugged.
"More like they don't even remember."
So now Tim is concerned and confused, but much to his luck, the tour is over and the Casper students are leaving. He's worried about his new friend, even if they exchanged numbers, so he goes down a rabbit hole. Not only does he find suspicious stuff about this small town that was heavily deleted from many things, but he finds that Danny has a sibling. It's evident to him they're also trans from the few pictures before and after but the sibling's name isn't anywhere to be seen so he tries to dig deeper.
He pauses before going further down though to respond to some of Danny's messages. But his sleep deprived brain decided 'let's just ask'. So he asks a bit of questions about Danny. Like what's his town like? Any other family? Are they fine with you being trans, because he'll totally beat anyone who's not, etc. Danny answers them and in turn asks about the Waynes, mainly because Danny is not entirely convinced Bruce himself isn't weird like Vlad, but he does acknowledge that he's at least not evil.
Eventually Danny offhandedly mentions Jazz is trans to, and Tim being the detective he is is like "huh..." and asks if his parents were accepting of Jazz too. It's a while before he responds but Danny just says;
"They don't remember we are trans...so no problems or anything with it..."
Tim doesn't get the chance to say anything about it as Danny asks about something about him being poly and what his dad and siblings thought. Of course he replied but his mind was also reeling from the fact that Danny's parents literally don't pay attention to their kids enough to not realize both kids are trans.
They keep in touch and Tim puts investigating on the back burner some since while kinds neglectful they seem to be decent enough parents.
He regrets that though as Danny doesn't message him for nearly a month. It worries him enough to put that investigation back to the forefront. Of course he finds osha violation city in the Fenton's house, as well as the actual paranormal activity happening. What concerns him the most is that apparently the town hero, a ghost boy, is missing...from around the same time Danny stopped messaging.
It's a week into trying to find Danny that he gets a message from his number, except it's not Danny. It's Jazz. She asks Tim if Danny had gone to him, she was trying everyone since no one knew where he was. This sparks a big ol search.
Danny meanwhile ended up with a hero (any but Clark or Bats cuz we want some rarer family dynamic, the good juice) after crash landing, most literally, right by em. The hero, I'm thinking Hal or Barry idk, is too busy trying to help this random powerful teenager who was bleeding way too too much to not have some regeneration ability.
After some drama of trying to find Danny, and Jazz, Tucker, Sam, and Tim knowing identities(Danny's included) because Tucker accidentally hacked around and found out, hero parent of Danny shows up with said boy closely in tow to a meeting after their surprise break from league work and Tim just jumps up and doesn't even remember that Danny doesn't know his identity.
Danny panics initially but quickly realizes it's Tim and finally gets back in contact with Jazz and all of his friends/classmates who had most definitely stormed a GIW lab in his absence. The league is confused and it's a whole mess before Danny trauma dumps on em and Tim as RR just admits this all started because he saw the trans pin.
My brain is rambling too much for this now, but basically lotta trauma, the league appalled and Danny getting a good family after everything is settled. His classmates so visit him and Tim, Kon, and him date because I feel like Danny would meet him, learn he's a clone (after being very gay for a moment) and just be like "heck yeah, my younger sister is a clone" which also caused more panic but like gay trio.
I'm gonna go sleep now, enjoy the angst and randomness this blurb is-

ok I haven't read your notes on episode three bc I'm excited and don't wanna spoil anything, so this Joel thot is half baked bc you know me coeur, I don't know jack about the last of us. But I just wanna make post outbreak Joel a nice breakfast. Eggs and bacon and pancakes, ok maybe not pancakes like we talked about with the bread, and potatoes and juice and coffee and all that jazz. Just have a nice good hearty breakfast and chill out, nothing pressing to do
Ugh ep 3 literally tore all of our hearts out. I've waited to post this though, because the idea I had involved slight spoilers so sorry for making you wait, and I hope you like this :)

Warnings: slight spoilers for ep3, I avoided spoilers from the rest of the game so I wouldn't ruin the show bc the requesty (ie my gf) has no knowledge of tlou beside what I've said and the show, sassy Joel <3, I used his Boston QZ apartment from the game as the layout, also a reference to in game Bill (if you guess it you win my love and respect)
"What is all this?"
Looking up from where you were placing down a nicely cleaned fork next to one of the plates on the table, you smile at the man who just came from the bedroom, his hair disheveled and eyes squinting at the sun coming in through the windows.
"Breakfast," you hum happily, turning back to set the other set of silverware next to the other plate.
Joel walks over rubbing the sleep from his face and looks over the two plates piled with food, more food, real food, than the two of you have had in months. Each plate has a healthy helping of fried potatoes mixed with peppers, scrambled eggs, and your poor attempt at making homemade sausage patties. You'd even managed to make some coffee for the two of you.
After a few seconds of taking in the plates, and more importantly the food, Joel turns to you with his brow furrowed, and gruffly asks, "And where did you get all this?"
Grinning, your mood to high after planning this surprise for what feels like forever, and more than happy to finally get to do it, you just nod to the chair Joel usually takes up and plop down into your own, ignoring the creak it makes at the sudden added weight- itd already broken on you once and Joel had so kindly repaired it for you while grumbling about being more gentler with it from now on.
"Frank, i…snuck out while you were busy in another district of the QZ for a couple of days and got him to trade me some potatoes, peppers, and eggs, of course it didn't take much convincing for Frank. Bill more or less grumbled the whole time. The sausage is a mix of rabbit and squirrel…I, uh, tried my best with it, but well it was kind of a first attempt."
You shrug, and watch Joel gently lower himself into his chair across from you. Carefully he picks up his fork, and glances at you before spearing a potato and trying it. He's silent as he chews, his face not giving away anything and as the silence ticks on, your anxiety starts to get to you. But just as you're opening your mouth to say something, Joel let's out an appreciative grunt and starts in on his eggs. Sighing, you pick up your own fork and start to dig into your own eggs, humming in pleasure at the taste of a warm seasoned meal and not just dried rations you usually had.
The two of you eat in silence for a few minutes, before you perk up and say, "Oh! I almost forgot."
Getting up from the table, you walk over to your little stash spot in one of the kitchens unused cabinets and pull out a bottle. After sitting back down, you cheerfully put the bottle of Cholula hot sauce. Joel pauses, mid sip of his coffee, looking back and forth between the bottle and you before grabbing it off the table and huffing a laugh.
"And where on Earth did you find this?"
Humming smugly at Joel’s fascination, you shrug trying to play nonchalant, as you say, "Found it on our last outing. Just under some shelves."
Joel, shaking his head, smiles and opens the bottle, dashing some onto his potatoes, before setting it back onto the table. Digging into his potatoes once more, Joel groans and points to the potatoes, saying, "This is as good as gold, darling," he takes a few more bites and just as you turn to continue eating yourself, Joel hums again and says, "Hell I think the 20 year old Cholula may even make your misshapen meat monstrosity edible."
Gasping you look up at him only to find him smiling and holding in a laugh. Pouting, you turn back to your food, and grumble under your breath, "See if u ever do anything nice for you ever again."
Later after you both were finished eating and the two of you had cleaned up all the silverware and plates, Joel was getting ready to leave for the day as you held up his jacket for him to put on, you asked, "Was it good…the surprise?"
Turning around and fixing the cuffs on the jackets sleeves Joel nodded, a small content smile on his face. Smiling yourself at his happy state, something you didn't see often, you looked down at the ground. Joel grabbed your hand, though, and made you look back up at him, his face now serious again as he looked into your eyes.
"Just, promise me not to go out alone again… no surprise is worth you risking your life being out there alone like that."
You simply nodded in agreement, and Joel nodded back before letting go of your hand and moving towards the door.
As he was leaving, Joel paused in the doorway and looks back to you curious, "What did you trade for all that?"
Looking over to him, you shrugged and replied, "That machete of mine that Bill has been eyeing for the longest time."
Joel just sighed, and shook his head before leaving.

Calling all Twst blogs!
I have a proposition and proposal! I want to create a Daycare in Twisted Wonderland!
I already know that I create too many things already but I have had this brewing in my mind for a while now and I wanted to reach out to have some help in creating some caretakers or a job for the Yuu of twisted wonderland can work at that’s not too far from the school and so Yuu can have actual money (cause we all know Crowley is irresponsible).
As much as working at Sam’s shop is such a fun concept and many have jumped on that train, I want to make a good alternative being a daycare. Plus I think it would be a good way for Cheka to see Yuu (whether considering them as a uncle/Aunt or another older sibling).
Daycare name is Tiny Toon Town Daycare in reference to Toon Town in Who Framed Rodger Rabbit, and the main caretaker is Jack Rabbit.
Jack Rabbit is Twisted from Rodger Rabbit, and the main reason why he owns and runs the daycare is because of the baby Herman cartoons.
He is a quite clumsy and ditzy caretaker that would freak out over kids injuries and them being in danger. He wears glasses that are constantly cracked and wears a colorful daycare outfit because it appeals to kids.
The only reason why the Daycare is running is because of the other caretakers that Jack practically begged to join, knowing that they will be able to help handle the kids and help hold back Jack when he freaks out over the kids safety.
Here’s the thing I want some of you to create or bring in one of your characters to be a caretaker. Anyone who wants to take art in this let me know.
If you are creating a Caretaker as long as you have a colorful apron of the character’s name painted on it or somewhere on it and something daycare appropriate clothing you should be fine. If you make the apron messy with paint, clipped buttons on the strapped, or decorated in a way that represents your caretaker do be careful for what’s on it, this is a daycare after all.
And finally since this is Tiny Toon Town you can create characters that are like the crossover in the movie like Warner Brothers or Disney. This however does not mean that it will actually happen because this is merely an au idea and all that jazz.

George Washington Benson (born March 22, 1943) is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He began his professional career at the age of 19 as a jazz guitarist. He uses a rest-stroke picking technique similar to that of gypsy jazz players such as Django Reinhardt. A former child prodigy, he first came to prominence in the 1960s, playing soul jazz with Jack McDuff and others. He then launched a successful solo career, alternating between jazz, pop, R&B singing, and scat singing. His album Breezin' was certified triple-platinum, hitting no. 1 on the Billboard album chart in 1976. He has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was born and raised in the Hill District of Pittsburgh. At the age of seven, he first played the ukulele in a corner drug store, for which he was paid a few dollars. At the age of eight, he played guitar in an unlicensed nightclub on Friday and Saturday nights, but the police soon closed the club down. At the age of nine, he started to record. Out of the four sides he cut, two were released: "She Makes Me Mad" backed with "It Should Have Been Me", with RCA Victor. As a youth, he learned how to play straight-ahead instrumental jazz during a relationship performing for several years with organist Jack McDuff. One of his many early guitar heroes was country-jazz guitarist Hank Garland. He recorded his first album as a leader, The New Boss Guitar, featuring McDuff. His next recording was It's Uptown with the George Benson Quartet. He followed it up with The George Benson Cookbook. Miles Davis employed him, featuring his guitar on "Paraphernalia" on Miles in the Sky before he went to Verve Records. - I think Ralph would also be one to go out for his birthday. Probably take one or two friends with him to a water park <3
- When he’s just at home, he wears sweaters. And when he’s out. He’s a sweater guy
- His room is moderately messy and he has shelves of random clutter cuz he’s a very sentimental person and will keep little useless objects that he forms accidental emotional attachments to

A bright display flickered to life, crisp camera feed and neon blue overlay replacing a black void, and Gregory startled to attention. Had he been asleep? That didn’t feel quite right, but he definitely hadn’t been awake , either.
At least he didn’t have to wonder where he was; the now-familiar display in front of him meant he was in Freddy’s chest cavity, which was the safest place he’d been in… a long time. He didn’t remember climbing in here, though. The last he could remember, he’d been trying to get out of the trash pit and back to the PizzaPlex proper when that creepy rabbit lady had started chasing him. He’d been hitting the button to call for Freddy’s help, but the bear hadn’t gotten there yet and he’d tripped on the stairs and—

Another update for Going Angst Week 2021! Shhhh I don’t need to be told we’re 4 months into 2022, i’m following the 2021 prompts so it still counts.

I give you: Day 4, Corruption!

The camcorder clicked on, focused on a plate of pancakes with chocolate chips forming a smiley face. It zoomed out in fits and starts, revealing the rest of the Fenton family kitchen, with a big shiny number 5 balloon tied to one of the chairs.
The camera turned to focus on the staircase as a newly-five-year-old Danny bounded down the steps, a huge grin splitting his face.
“Happy birthday Danny!” Maddie, Jack, and Jazz called out together, and Danny beamed and ran up to whoever was holding the camera for a hug. The video cut out as the camera tilted towards the ground.

The video picked back up later in the day, this time held steady by a tripod and pointed at the main stage of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. The animatronic band stood still, the colorful spinning spotlights and children running by the only motion on screen. Then, with a click, the band came alive.
Chica’s eyes blinked, Bonnie adjusted his grip on his guitar, Freddy grabbed his microphone and held it to his mouth, and the children running past stopped and turned to watch.

Moon comes online in the Daycare. Their regularly scheduled maintenance and software updates went smoothly, then, if they’re already out of Parts & Service.
The lights are on, so Sun is in control, taking them through a few cartwheels as he checks the body’s joints are working as expected and works out his pent-up energy from being immobilized in the maintenance cylinder. Moon, meanwhile, takes stock of his code. Most of the changes are standard, small updates here and there to improve runtime or make use of new features developed over the previous month, but that’s not all.
There is a new game in his programming.
It’s odd. Sun is the one that plays with the children; he gets all the games, and Moon gets the stories. But despite that, there is a game in Moon’s internal library. He tries to open the file, to look through its rules and conditions, but the file is locked. All he can access is the name of the program: LightsOut.agm
Well, that explains why Sun didn’t get the code for it. If it’s meant to be played in the dark, Sun would never be able to run it anyway. But whenever the lights are out in the Daycare, it’s supposed to be naptime, calm and quiet.
Maybe this is a game to be played lying down, to lull the children to sleep? Or maybe this is designed for the Sleepover Mode that the technicians keep talking about, a game to be played if management has their way and allows the Daycare to be rented out overnight for slumber parties?
“Moon? Everything alright? You’ve been quiet,” Sun says, snapping Moon out of his thoughts.
Sun has worked most of the excess energy out of his system by now, and instead of cartwheeling around the Daycare, he’s sitting perched on their balcony, idly kicking his legs.
I’m fine, Moon assures his counterpart. I was… given a game.

On October 14, 1989, two senior researchers on Project KV31, Madeline and Jack Fenton, brought their teenage children, Jasmine and Daniel, into the research site against company policy. Below is a transcription of relevant security camera footage of the resulting incident.
[16:17:33]: Madeline Fenton, wearing a lab coat and holding a briefcase, enters the room that houses the Low-Proximity Magnetic Distortion System.
Madeline, speaking: “—past few years of research are finally coming together.”
Jasmine Fenton enters the room, following Madeline, who is now looking down at the clipboard she holds.
[16:18:03]: Daniel Fenton enters the room and begins casually looking around at scientific equipment.
Jack Fenton enters the room, also wearing a lab coat. While Daniel and Jasmine stand idly in the center of the room, Jack walks to a piece of equipment installed on the eastern wall. Both children turn to face their father. Madeline continues looking at her clipboard.
Jack Fenton begins giving a detailed account of how the Low-Proximity Magnetic Distortion System functions, which has been redacted from this transcript for confidentiality.
