Rest in Power, Nex Benedict
A 16 year old kid who loved nature and looking after their cat Zeus. Who enjoyed reading, watching the Walking Dead, and playing Ark and Minecraft. They loved to cook and would often make up their own recipes. They did well in school, being a straight-A student. Rest in power a teen who was human and had interests and ambitions and challenges and friendships. A trans youth who was brutally murdered just for being trans, when that was only a fragment of who they were as a person.
Nex Benedict, Jacob Williamson, Brianna Ghey, and other trans youth like them were real people with real lives. They deserved better, longer, happier lives. They deserved to grow up and not fear for their lives. They deserve to be remembered as who they were, not just as another trans kid who was killed, as people with families and normal human lives.

we are out here burying babies because of the same motherfuckers who scream at the top of their lungs “I’m just trying to protect children”
i do not want to fucking hear that ever again from the transphobia crowd because you’re fucking not. you are murdering us.
Nex Benedict. Jacob Williamson.
it’s been 26 years since Matthew Shepard was beaten and left to die tied up to a fence post, and the only thing that’s changed is cis queer people have turned their fucking backs on us.
it’s been 10 years since Leelah Alcorn took her own life.
we cannot keep failing them.

Just a quick search on YouTube and you find either NOTHING or THIS. Where's the leftist YouTubers making videos about this tragedy like they did with Brianna Ghey? They were about the same age. Children! Where is it for us? Jacob Williamson had his whole life ahead of him and he won't be remembered even by the people that claim to care

I'm not usually serious on my blog, but I need to vent.
With so many trans kids getting killed and the media being as dogshit as usual, it worries me about mine and others safety. I'm not openly trans. My town is pretty okay. pretty pro-LGBT...but nobody ever knows. Anyone could get murdered for being who they are. And that scares me. I'm scared to come out, scared to be open... Hell, I'm even scared to talk to my therapist about shit like this because I'm worried my father will somehow find out. I'm scared to do anything. Go out in public, walk to school, walk home, even go out with friends. And speaking of. My friends are all worried for their lives. All of us, thinking of ending it all. Right here, right now, on our own terms. All because of shitty people with shitty beliefs, all thinking that because we're different, we're a threat.
This shit has to stop
This isn't 'kids being kids'
This is murder.
We need to stop murdering people because they're different.
Justice for Nex Benedict.
Justice for Brianna Ghey.
Justice for Jacob Williamson
May they all rest in power. And may their murderers never know peace.

South Carolina law enforcement officials say there is “no danger to the transgender community” as a transgender teenager was found dead this week after going missing and two suspects were taken into custody.
Family members reported Jacob Williamson, 18, as a missing person to authorities in the city of Laurens, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office. The family said they last saw or heard from Williamson on the evening of June 30, a sheriff’s news release said. The sheriff’s office launched an investigation into Williamson’s disappearance on July 2, according to the release.
Joshua Newton, 25, has been charged with first-degree murder and obstruction of justice. Victoria Smith, 22, has been charged with obstruction of justice and assisting Newton after he allegedly committed the crime, according to the sheriff’s office.
Newton is being held at the Union County Jail without bond, while Smith is being held on a $3 million bond at the same jail, records show. As of Thursday morning, it was unclear if either had obtained attorneys. Their next court dates are scheduled for August 8, records show. Union County Sheriff’s Office Lt. James Maye said law enforcement doesn’t have a reason to believe Williamson’s preferred name and gender marker were part of the suspects’ motive.

hey why does a post arguing in favor of deadnaming a murdered trans man who hadn't legally changed his name yet have more notes than the posts talking about his death and remembering him.

a lament in being trans
tw/ transphobia, dysphoria, self-hatred, fear, homophobia, and a few others (please tell me if this needs to be updated/fixed)
look. i'm a trans male. i'm a teenager in high school. and i'm fucking terrified. i hate the idea that i won't be able to grow up like some of my other friends because of what's going on in the world. i'm scared that i'm going to die young and that they're gonna bury me with the wrong name and wrong clothes. it scares me that i'm hated because i don't identify with what i was born as. im tired of 'friends' saying that i 'look better when i embrace my girly side' and that 'you should just be a girl till you can choose as an adult'. like i'm sorry that i don't fit your definition of what i should be. it's not fucking fair that what are supposed to be the best years of my life have been taken from me because of petty shit. i by no means have dealt with the violence and hatred that Nex, Brianna, Jacob and so many of my other trans brothers, sisters, and siblings under any form of the umbrella have faced. They all deserve to be around instead of being forced to live and die in fear. Nex deserved to live so much longer he did. Brianna should be alive today. Jacob didn't deserve to be lured under false pretenses to be murdered. i want justice. i want revenge. but most of fucking all i want safety. and i don't know that i can get that in my lifetime

When Briana Ghey was murdered, she was trending on tumblr as people spread the news, and there was so much outrage at her being misgendered and deadname in the mainstream news outlets. And now, Jacob Williamson, there's silence. He was just a kid too, he deserves justice and outrage on his behalf. His story deserved to be heard.

Transphobia kills
This is the first time I'm going serious, but I feel like I need to do this.
In a world where acceptance should reign supreme, the stories of Nex Benedict, Brianna Ghey, and Jacob Williamson are a powerful reminder of the grim reality faced by many who dare to live as their true selves. Their lives, though cut short, carry a deep message that speaks to the fundamental right of every individual to be recognized, respected, and loved for who they are.
Nex Benedict, Brianna Ghey, and Jacob Williamson, like countless others, bravely embraced their true selves despite the societal pressures and prejudices that sought to constrain them. They stood tall in the face of adversity and defiantly challenged the narrow-mindedness and bigotry that infects our communities. Tragically, their journeys were cut short by transphobia - a force that continues to claim lives and shatter dreams.
Their stories are a powerful reminder that the fight for equality and acceptance is far from over. Transphobia, in all its forms, is a plague that not only threatens the lives of transgender, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming people, but also undermines the very foundation of our society. It fuels fear, division and injustice, creating barriers to understanding and compassion where empathy and solidarity should flourish.
We live in a world where celebrating authenticity in theory is often condemned in practice - a world where the mere act of being oneself can be met with hostility and violence. It's a sobering reality that demands our collective attention and action. We cannot afford to remain passive bystanders in the face of such injustice. The deaths of Nex Benedict, Brianna Ghey, and Jacob Williamson serve as a call to action - a call to dismantle the systemic inequalities and prejudices that continue to plague our society. It is up to each of us to challenge the status quo, to confront discrimination and hate wherever it manifests, and to create a world in which every individual can live freely and fully without fear of oppression or persecution.
Most importantly, we must never forget the lives and legacies of those lost to transphobia. We must honor their memory by continuing the work they started - by standing up for justice, equality and human rights for all. Nex Benedict, Brianna Ghey, and Jacob Williamson may no longer be with us, but their spirit lives on in the struggle for a more just and equitable world.
Transphobia kills, and that's not okay. But together, through our collective action and unwavering solidarity, we can strive to create a world where love prevails over hate, and where all people are free to live authentically, without fear or prejudice. This is the legacy we must honor. This is the future we must build.

Hey, your blog is pretty big so could you please help spread awareness for Jacob Williamson? He was murdered (hate crimed) last summer, but there's only like 15 posts about him on here. He was a trans man, he was 18, and he died before he could start hrt or even consider surgery.
Tumblr media
Read more about him here
This is unfortunately the first time I've heard of this case as well. Unfortunately, a lot of crimes against our community are often kept quiet and are swept under the rug.
I didn't see an update on whether the people who murdered him were brought to justice or if they were kept for questioning, but nevertheless, it really feels like there can be no justice in cases like this.
RIP Jacob Williamson.

Just found out about Jacob Williamson and I am FURIOUS about how this trans guy has gotten 0 coverage on his story whereas trans women are reported instantly and stories about them are spread everywhere. All power to you girls cause spreading awareness is so important, but for fuck sakes
I’m so angry that I’m only just finding out about this boy NOW. Jacob had so much ahead of him and was so young. Why isn’t his story spreading like fucking wildfire? Why are news outlets labelling him as a “woman”?
This is fuckin ridiculous. Stand up for your trans brothers. “they have male privilege” my ass. That privilege didn’t save him from transphobia and death did it?
