Cerebos is a surrealist travelogue game written by Zach Welhouse (and edited by me) about a group of amnesiac travellers riding a train to the titular Crystal City, with plenty of strange stops along the way.
Costume Fairy Adventures, meanwhile, is one of the earliest games I worked on from back in 2013; it's about, well, fairies. In costumes. Having adventures. (Look, I freely admit it's not a creative title.)
If you've ever been terribly curious to check out either one, now's your chance. All of my smaller games (Radical Catgirl Anarchy, Olaf Hits the Dragon with his Sword, Jellyfish Felonies, Sinister Hovering Orb, and To Serve) are already pay-what-you-want, so there's no sense putting them on sale, but they are included in the "100% of all sales go to the creator" thing that's running today, so if you just happened to pay what you want today in particular, that sure would be convenient!

CAN I GET A QUICK VIBE CHECK ON USING THE ENTIRE DECK OF TAROT CARDS IN A TWO PLAYER TTRPG
other details:
-its a game with four phases
-each phase uses tarot cards in similar but different ways to tell the parts of the story
-im essentially at a part where i can say "each person draw their own card" or "draw one card and use it as inspiration for both of your parts"

platformers r so good for my flavor of adhd bc they're super hypnotic to me but also i WILL get mildly frustrated enough to go ok! ill try this level later. after ten tries & go get back to my original task...

A Hole New World

Genre: Platformer
Pitch: An action platformer with the look, feel, and challenge of an NES game.
My expectations: NES platformers are what I'm all about.
Review:
Modern NES-style games typically fall into one of two camps: So accurate they could be played on vintage hardware or so far beyond the system specs you wonder why they bothered. A Hole New World leans toward the latter. Dozens of sprites fill its 16:9 screen without flicker or slowdown, animated with far more poses than would ever fit on an old EPROM. Nevertheless, it looks right. The palette, the pixel density, the visual design—the individual elements are straight out of the eighties, and they come together beautifully.
Running, jumping, and shooting feel uncannily like Mega Man, as does the way each boss leaves behind its signature weapon. The first level is an obvious Castlevania homage, with just a hint of Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins, while the second swerves toward Little Nemo: The Dream Master, further reinforced by the primary weapon’s arc and range.
It’s a game built on solid influences, though the unconstrained steps toward modernity are hit and miss. Levels are needlessly sprawling. Defeated enemies stay dead, which alleviates pressure, rewarding cautious play and hurting the pacing. The lives system is…weird.
It starts too easy and gets too hard, but when it’s in the zone, it’s great.
+ Take a handful of the best NES games, shake 'em up, and free them from old hardware limitations.
+ Looks and sounds just right. Even the optional CRT filter is tastefully subtle; a rarity in neo-retro games.
+ A steady rollout of new weapons and powers (as well as enemies and platforming challenges to test those weapons and powers) keeps the game interesting, while the two-button controls make it all manageable.
+ Frequent checkpoints and a forgiving, if rather odd, lives system for those who need it; hardcore speedrunning options for those who are not me.
– Baby-simple at the beginning, at least for experienced NES players. Hair-pulling punishment past the halfway mark. I called it quits at stage five of (I think) six.
– The fourth level is so long. I'm sure it took longer than the first three combined. Really kills the momentum.
– The title, A Hole New World, refers to a reverse-gravity, vertically mirrored version of the world above that's accessed by jumping or falling into the kinds of holes that typically signal instant death in platformers. It's an uninteresting gimmick, and there's rarely much reason to jump between the two. Plus, you press down to duck in both worlds, even though ducking in reverse gravity means you duck up, and my dumb brain can't handle that.
– It's occasionally difficult to tell background from foreground. I jumped on a lot of spikes and dodged a lot of decorations.

GB Patch Games: 2024 Intentions

Welcome to 2024, everybody 🥳️
This is the year of Our Life: Now & Forever (and 2025 will be too, but let's not get ahead of ourselves that much). After a good five odd years of making Our Life: Beginnings & Always content, it's amazing to look ahead and see only the progress that will be done on this new game. Qiu and Tamarack are the center of the GB Patch Games universe now. But even though I'm not creating any new OL1 scenes, there may still be some exciting developments for the existing stuff. Cove hasn't been forgotten.

If you want to know about what will be accomplished specifically in January, you can read that HERE. Now here's the entire year's goals-
Honestly, 2024 is gonna be the most basic year in a very long time, haha. There's not gonna be major launches of new DLCs, or a full game going live, or any bonus Moments. It's simply making progress on OL: N&F. That's pretty normal for game development. It's just not something we've had to go through since 2019. But we're hunkering down for the long haul on this one.
Specifically, Step 1 will be fully completed in 2024 and I'll make as much headway into Step 2 as possible. There will be two updates to the public demo, one probably in May and another sometime in Fall/Third Quarter 2024. Those will focus on Step 1 scenes still. I can't guarantee we'll be able to rework the Step 2 part of the demo with new content this year. As it is, the content was made to be a demo preview. A lot is gonna change for the complete version.
And that's about it for our main game. I appreciate all of you who decide to follow along with the process.
Beyond that, the Our Life: Beginnings & Always digital artbook is going to become available through Steam and Itch.io in early 2024! Maybe not January, but ideally no later than February.
Finger's crossed, we will also launch Our Life: Beginnings & Always for Mac on Steam and make it available for Androids through the Google Playstore. I can't state it with confidence, since there's constantly been roadblocks/issues with those, aha.
My final little note for this coming year is that, potentially, there could be more information coming out about the game that's going into production after OL2, "Project W".

And that's what you can look forward to. Every year I'm amazed I can continue to do this as my fulltime job. I'm always wondering when that will end, but I'd be lying if I said I could see that point. The support GB Patch Games has gotten, and still gets each day, is more than enough to for it to continue for the rest of OL2's development.
I'm pretty confident in assuming that when that game does launch it's going to be successful enough for Project W to go into full production. It's a truly wonderful thing. Thank you so much for being here. We'll do our best with the time and attention you've given us.

Some notes about the comic below:
This comic is based on my partner's brilliant fanfiction. They wished to remain anonymous, but the story idea was theirs. I am just a humble servant.
Neither of us speak English as our first language, so of course after finishing I see a hundred things to tweak in the dialogue... but decided to leave it the way it is, for now. So! If you, dear reader, find clunky sentences and weird mistakes and would possibly like to help us in the future, send me an ask. ;-)
My partner said that banging in an elevator while listening T.Rex on repeat is a plothole because they couldn't do that, but I disagree. They would find a way.
Idk where Louis is - probably left Dubai. Daniel got some of his memories back, not sure how yet. Lots of inspiration was taken from GrayGiantess' fics, but this work is not based on them (just an encouragement for everyone to read them).
I got into this ship, like, less than 100 hours ago. I got possessed by a demon, blinked, and suddenly I made a comic. I have seen the first season of the IWTV 2022 adaptation and everything else I know about the canon is hearsay, whispers in the forest and an Eldritch demon telling me its tales. Consider me as a little fledgling.
And finally, the songs in order by T.Rex are: Get it on, 20th Century Boy, Free Angel and Cosmic Dancer. Rest in piece, Marc Bolan, and thank you for everything.
I'll make an PDF for itch.io... later, now I need to sleep.

today is my last day at my day job (could you do just one favor for me today?)

POC, Woman, & Queer Punk/Rock/Metal Bands
i’m sick of listening to old cishet white dudes sing all the time, so here are some of my more diverse favs!

Cinnamon Babe - A band with Stormi Maya on vocals, I recommend listening to her songs Rock ‘N’ Roll Is Black and Loose.
Dazey and the Scouts - A queer band. Their song Sweet Cis Teen explores gender dysphoria as an AFAB person, I really resonate with it. Groan is another one of my favorites.
Cheap Perfume - A riot grrrl type band, their songs are based around unapologetic feminism. I would recommend starting off with It’s Okay to Punch Nazis and Slut Game Strong.
Kittie - An all female metal band with some really great vocals. I really enjoy their song Choke.
Katja Macabre - A feminist metal artist who only has about 400 listeners monthly on spotify. They really deserve more love, so go listen to their song Compliments.
Doll Skin - A long time fav of mine, the songs I listen to the most are Love Is Dead and We Killed Her and Mark My Words. (they just had their final show unfortunately, linked here is a recording of the full set tho!)
VIAL - An indie punk band which I got into fairly recently. I really enjoy Piss Punk and Ego Death.
Dog Park Dissidents - A queer punk band that I think is really cool. I can’t stop listening to Queer as in Fuck You.
Dream Nails - Another queer punk band! My favs are Corporate Realness and Vagina Police.
Cable Ties - Their vocals are so unique, I’m not even sure how to describe them. My fav songs are Self Made Man and Say What You Mean, as well as Hope (which i found through a game on itch.io)
Witch Fever - I’ve been enjoying their song In Birth recently!
Mannequin Pussy - I just saw them live, and now they’re one of my favorite bands. The energy they created in the room quite literally moved me to tears. I’m in the process of listening to all their music right now but my current favorites are Romantic, Control, and Pigs is Pigs.
i will be adding more to this when i get the time, feel free to give me suggestions (i really appreciate all the recommendations you all are giving me)

Welcome to the 4th monthly game jam that will be hosted on my itch.io page!
In this game jam, your objective is to create a game where queer joy/adventure is the main focus. What does that mean?
Well, you could create a game where you fight the physical manifestations of your dysphoria, a game where you meet and date the love of your lives in a dystopian and oppressive world (huh, sounds familiar to right now...), a game where you build a community of loving and supportive people who use JoJo-stand-like manifestations of their gender to fight evil...or anything else you can think of!
Your games can be tabletop games OR digital games. Anything that gets your mind in the realm of game design is all that matters to me!
IMPORTANT: Please only begin making a game when you hear of this game jam. No previously made games please! ANY GAMES THAT WERE MADE BEFORE THIS JAM WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
ALSO IMPORTANT: Under no circumstances are people who submit games with bigoted tones, ideologies, or dogwhistles allowed in this game jam. If your work is bigoted in any way, it can and will be rejected for submission. You have no place in my community, and please do not play my games at your tables.
