Summary: Dean, Sam & Cas's long-established dynamics were going to change as they came across a young, brave but somewhat socially awkward hunter, Emma.
▁ ▂ ▄ ▅ ▆ ▇ █ SPN █ ▇ ▆ ▅ ▄ ▂ ▁
In the pulsating underground world of supernatural hunters, the unknown and paranormal intertwine in a ballet of suspense and horror; a world where whispers of mythical creatures are real, where angels and demons tread the same ground as humankind. The seasoned warriors, Dean and Sam Winchester, alongside the celestial being, Castiel, or 'Cas' as they fondly called him, were stalwarts in this crazy, impossible world. But their long-established dynamics were going to change as they came across a young, brave but somewhat socially awkward hunter.
It was another typical day in their bizarre world for the notorious hunters, Dean, Sam, and Cas. They had seen a fair share of shapeshifters, vampires, ghosts, and all other nasty things that come crawling in the night and tucked away neatly in our childhood nightmares.
A new case was their focus, a series of gruesome murders in a small town on the outskirts of Georgia. The trio arrived at the crime scene, piling out of the renowned Impala. Quickly delving into their fake federal agent personas, they started debriefing the local sheriff, scrutinizing each detail for any tell-tale signs of supernatural involvement. But before they could finish, a hint of gunfire echoed through the calm Georgia air.
From the thick woods on the edge of town, a young woman emerged. She was slight but carried herself with an impressive air of toughness. Her hair was disheveled, her clothes stained with dirt and blood. In one hand, she held a smoking gun; with the other, she dragged a Lycanthrope. With a small but weighted introduction, they discovered the woman’s name: Emma.
This wasn't your typical damsel-in-distress scenario; this was Emma, a young and highly skilled hunter. Emma was beautiful, tough, and quicker than most men twice her size, but also oddly socially awkward. Her bravery was not borne from recklessness, but rather from a deep conviction for the brotherhood of hunters.
Dean watched from a distance as Sam and Cas got acquainted with Emma. Not being able to stop himself, Dean, with his usual bravado hiding concern, remarked, “You hunt solo, kid? It's dangerous out there.”
She shrugged her shoulders dismissively, her eyes showing a hint of determination that the Winchesters knew all too well.
She had a way about her, recklessly brave, but also gentle in her toughness. She was a skilled hunter, yes, but she was also awkward in social situations, often blushing deeply or stuttering in conversations. She was disarming in her vulnerability, and the trio couldn't help but feel protective of her.
Days turned into weeks, and Emma became an integral part of their little band of hunters. But for all her skills, she had a fault. Her bravery often morphed into self-sacrifice. For the days that followed, Emma would tag along, showing the boys her exceptional hunting skills, and her useless social skills. If she wasn't stumbling over words, she was obliviously missing sarcasm.
Dean, the older and more protective of the Winchester siblings, saw a fiery spark in her. Her awkwardly adorable inability to converse in social settings oddly reminded him of his younger self — a lone wolf with the world on his shoulders.
On the other hand, Sam, the more academic-minded and understanding of the two, saw stark similarities between Emma and their late friend, Charlie, another gifted yet socially inept hunter who had also captured their hearts. And Cas, an angel exiled on earth, held a gentle affinity for the young hunter. Her struggle with societal norms mirrored much of his own. These parallelisms drew them to Emma in a fraternal sense.
One night, things had turned disastrous. While tracking down a nest of vengeful spirits, Emma had jumped in front of a possessed car, saving Sam at the very last moment. When the dust settled, they discovered her sprawled on the ground, unconscious and severely injured.
The sight of Emma's unmoving form ignited a surge of protective instinct in each of them. The tender, awkward girl had saved them more times than they could count, and now they were unsure whether they would lose her.
Over the next few days, the trio stayed by her side, nursing her back to health. They took turns staying awake at night, ensuring that nothing could harm her while she was vulnerable. Their dynamic had subtly shifted—no longer was Emma just their partner, but they had unconsciously adopted big brother roles for the young hunter.
As Emma pieced back together, she was met with an unexpected surge of protection from the guys. Dean grew more watchful, often flinching at her every wince. Sam was overbearing in his care, constantly checking her wounds, and fussing around for her betterment. Cas, meanwhile, was an ever-present silent guardian, always nearby.
And so, amongst the chaos, a beautiful bond was formed. They had gone from paternal figures to protectors, all the while holding onto their love for their newfound companion they never knew they needed. Emma, in her profound bravery and captivating awkwardness, had caught the hearts of the Winchester brothers and their angelic ally, creating an unbreakable bond.
Interwoven in their world of mystic monsters and deadly danger, they discovered an unlikely friendship and an unspoken vow: they had each other's backs, always. Emma's jarring entry into their team had shaken up their closely guarded universe, showing them that while they fought the darkness, there existed light and love in their unique family dynamic.
The story of Emma, the awkward fearless hunter, held a mirror to Dean, Sam, and Cas, reminding them of their own beginnings and the protective bonds they had forged on the perilous path they walked together. She became their unifier in the face of adversity, the string that tied them together, making them a team... a family.
For Emma, what started as a way to help others had turned into an incredible journey of strength, camaraderie, and, above all, sacrifice. With Dean, Sam, and Cas by her side, she was ready to face the supernatural world unafraid, her awkward quirks now a badge of honor in their close-knit family. She may have been their protege, but in their hearts, they knew, Emma was their savior too. Thus, the saga of Supernatural continued, now with an extra sense of fraternity, love, and a promise to stand by each other, always.

I think it's funny that everyone in The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants just hates Mastermind. Even Magneto (a man known for wanting to enslave humanity) hates Mastermind. And yeah, I get it. He's somehow just an obnoxious creep. I mean, he's got illusion powers and he's always lecherous towards the Scarlet Witch (if I remember correctly). He's probably the closest 1960s comics could get to an actual pervert. He's a weirdo, to me at least.
I think it even says something that when Magneto wants to reform the brotherhood of evil mutants, he completely ignores mastermind. Nobody cares about Mastermind. I don't even know why he's there, honestly. And that's just hilarious. He's the villian so creepy and also inept that even Magneto and Toad can't stand him. That's just funny.

It was a cold winter night at Japan for you. Another day of working for the game department as one of its beta tester. And though the coffee warmed you in a way it still didn't completely erase the melancholic air you carried with you. A gentle sort of sadness that can be seen in the way your smiles never reached your eyes and your polite distant attitude.
It had been almost 20 years since your first heart break but even if you had found partners after it, all of your relationships had ended one way or another. Therefore you couldn't help but look a little envious of the occasional couple you'd see having a date as you made your way to the station and back to your apartment.
Not even the new soundtracks released for The Seven Lords series appealed to you. Even if you were working on a game based on it, the memories and person you had come to associate with it came back as you worked on the Lord of Envy update.
You gloomily looked out of the train window and stared at the falling snow and wondered how different life would have been for you had you taken all the chances you had back then. And then from the corner of your eye you saw creeping darkness and then as you turned to look, you suddenly found yourself at a room that almost resembled a court room.
"Welcome to Devildom!" the man said.
You blinked at him in confusion.
-
Mammon was for the better part of the word, an interesting person who made his love of money quite apparent when asked. He was quite cute too, adorable even.
"What are ya staring at?" He asked grumpily.
"Hey, Mammon-sama~ what do you think about being the model for the game I'm working at?"
He was surprised at the sudden offer and smiled at you brightly that for a moment you wondered if an angel replaced him.
"Human~ Do you really think that I, Mammon the Avatar of Greed, would be that easy?" He threatened.
"I'll pay you with 500,000 Yen in human money and you'll get 20% from the total monthly sales of any merchandise that has your face in it."
"I-I'm not that easy!"
You could see him struggling with what he said and wondered what you should do to get his agreement when another voice chimed in the conversation.
You turned and saw the most beautiful debt collector however as an adult who knew their priorities you had immediately latched on to Mammon’s arm and said sweetly,
“Mammon-sama~ If you worked as my company’s game model you’d be able to pay off your debts faster~”
With an easy way out of trouble, Mammon accepted your help. In another time, and another reality you would have gotten Mammon’s pact but in this...perhaps you’ve gotten something more.

It had been a year since Levi had begun playing the newly released Ragnarok : Online and in that span of a year he had built a top guild from the ground up with his online best friend, you.
You had helped him out in the beginning, teaching him how to use the interface and taking him along to level up. You had been kind and didn't laugh or tease him with his ineptness when it came to social interaction. You acted as his buffer and Levi adored you for it.
Which was why when you had expressed the interest of making a guild, he had immediately jumped on it and made it real for you. Gifting the position of Guild Master, and him as your tactician and Vice Guild Master to make it successful. Levi smiled at the memory especially the blushing, happy, and kiss emoticon you had used on him.
Daddy_Wolf: Oh? my Lord is here?
L3V1: I just decided to check up on my Henry...
Levi blushed and tried to stop the shaking of his fingers. As he quickly and carefully typed,
L3V1: I haven't seen you around much...are you planning on quitting?
Daddy_Wolf: Nope...My mum caught me gaming non stop and my grades dropped a bit
Daddy_Wolf: Comfort me, My Lord! I wanna play with you so bad but I have to study
Daddy_Wolf: For our bright future!!!! /cry
"Ugh! Why are you so cute!! Even if you're a guy!!!"
L3V1:/pat_head study hard I'll handle the guild affairs while you're gone
Daddy_Wolf: /kiss I'll come back in time for the guild war
Daddy_Wolf: use my account and inventory if u want
Daddy_Wolf: U still remember the pw right?
L3V1: yep go study now
Daddy_Wolf: I can play right now, lets go level up at Morroc Pyramid 3, you wanted Isis as a pet right?
Levi's already fluttering heart went over max capacity with how you remembered the pet he wanted even if he had only mentioned it in passing 3 months ago.
L3V1: How long can u stay?
Daddy_Wolf: about 4 hours lets make the best of it /smile
L3V1: /ok
Guild Member 1: wolf and levi r at it again
Guild Member 2: Daddy bring us out to farm too!!!
Daddy_Wolf: fuck! Who wants to be ur Daddy?!
Guild Member 2: lol only L3V1 can call you that huh
Guild Member 3: in this world the most special person in Wolf's heart is L3V1 lol
Guild Member 1: one time captain took me along to level up with the condition that the other drops that aren’t suitable for my class
Guild Member 1: would be his lol
Guild Member 1: i agreed and then when I checked the drops
Guild Member 1: the only drops that wasnt meant for my class lol was the rare drop for vice captain lol
Guild Member 1: I rose 40 levels but at what cost /cry /laugh
Guild Member 2: You too?!
Guild Member 3: for the sake of reaching Ascension 1 lol i am willing to work hard for the captain's love life lol
L3V1: it was probably not like that...Henry really cares about the guild members too
Guild Member 1: Vice captain so sweet /blush
Guild Member 2: vice captain /blush
Guild Member 3: lol captain good luck
Daddy_Wolf casted Jupiter's Thunder
Guild Member 3: fuck! Captain why did you kill me?!?! /shocked
Daddy_Wolf: my bad my mouse shook /smile /smile /smile
Levi took his eyes off the guild chat and saw in the gates outside their guild base in Payon...was the dead avatar of their guild member.
Daddy_Wolf: Levi im sending you an invite
L3V1: okay
Team Chat
Daddy_Wolf: free up your slots i'm giving you the incubators and food items
L3vi: should i get some items from kafra too?
Daddy_Wolf: hp and mana potions
Daddy_Wolf: I'll deal the main damage and just heal me when my hp and mana gets in half
Daddy_Wolf: when her health is low ill cast ice wall and you can catch her
L3V1: thnx
Levi wondered if he should sent the emoticon before deciding to throw caution to the wind and sent it to his Henry with a tomato red face.
L3V1: /kiss
Daddy_Wolf: /blush
Daddy_Wolf: /kiss ill telepirt us nie ok
Levi calmly stood up from his chair walked a few feet away to face his pet fish Henry and then screamed into the palms of his hand.
"GAAAAHHHH!!! CUTE CUTE WHY ARE YOU SO CUTE!!!" He screamed as he wiggled here and rolled over there, "IT WAS JUST A KISS WHY DID YOU GET SO FLUSTERED?!! YOU DO IT TO ME ALL THE TIME!!!"
Then he calmly got back to the chair and quietly and silently gamed with you. It took several tries and a couple of your death before he was able to get an Isis but in the end he was able to get it.
Daddy_Wolf: congrats my Lord!
L3V1: thnk u my Henry /kiss
Daddy_Wolf: btw why did u want Isis as a pet?
Being asked this question, Levi's hands stilled and he slowly and honestly typed,
L3V1: because it reminded me of you
L3V1: anyways your four hours is up hurry and log out before your mom kills you
And then he quickly logged out without saying goodbye.
On the other side, you, a 15 year old human sat behind a computer screen staring at the words he told you.
You blushed as you thought, 'somehow...that sounds like a love confession...'
-
A week had passed and Mammon had began hanging out with you 24/7 since your first day at Devildom. He had acted as a perfect babysitter for your weak human self, and easily spoiled him since he was good at acting cute. With each time you spent with him, the more you were sure with your decision that Mammon definitely fit the image of the Lord of Greed.
And this was something, you were vocal at whenever you saw Mammon act stupidly cute when it came to money.
Of course, you had bumped into his debt collector and younger brother: Leviathan, Avatar of Envy.
You had thought for a moment that he was your Levi before you dismissed that impossibility. The world would never be so kind to do such a thing for you. So you had struck an easy friendship with Levi, established further upon knowing that you were the game developer for  TSL: Online, and a devious partnership with Mammon.
There was also the added factor that you were matchmaking him with his colleague and fellow model friend of yours. So really, it was an eventful first month since you began the Exchange Student Program.
And the added responsibility of running a game company, you were amazed that you weren't running yourself to the ground. And you had said as much to Levi during one of your free down times where you opted to do your work while he played on the side.
"Tha-that's because you're just as amazing as Henry..."
You laughed at the irony of being compared to Henry once more, "Hey Levi, have I ever told you how I got into TSL?"
"Eh? There's a story behind it?"
Hearing the curiosity in his voice, you turned away from your monitor and faced him. The soft glow coming from his aquarium lights and his cute interested expression made you soft. He was so much like your Levi sometimes that you couldn't help but hope.
"Yep~ but I'll only tell you that story if you let me cuddle your demon form!"
There was also the fact that you made no secret of your crush on him, and took every opportunity to have skinship with him.
"You demon fetishist..." Levi complained even as he turned to his demon form and shyly placed his face on your exposed lap.
'Ah~I really wanna kiss Levi'

⭐️!
I'm always so intrigued to see how people come up with their characters so I'll talk about the first inception of a few of mine!
iirc the very very first time that efri, as she became, occurred to me, was when I was looking at images (maybe on pinterest or a similar site? maybe just googling them? not sure) and saw someone's drawing of a little girl and a big cat playing a game. I thought "hm, that could be cool inspiration for a character" and stowed it away in the back of my head. then I made efri like two years later I think
torr was invented because I wanted to play the skyrim dark brotherhood questline and needed to make up a character for it. I was aware of how it begun so my priority was creating a guy in my mind who would be inclined to break into a kid's house and offer to kill his abuser in cold blood. through which process I unintentionally created a juxtaposition of traits that fascinates and delights me
I was considering playing oblivion for a long time but only actually started it when I got an overpowering idea for a character that I could not avoid. that idea for a character was wholly and entirely the thought "hmm I write a lot of characters who are for one reason or another difficult to communicate with but I don't have any who are just Mean and Unpleasant." initially I REALLY wanted pax to be the world's grubbiest grumpiest child (I love writing kids what can I say) but after playing through the first couple quests I realised that you get sent to the deadlands to fight daedra right quick and I couldn't really finagle that to feel believable with a child. so instead I aged them up to an older child. and now they're the world's most abrasive socially inept fifteen year old

"Desire of Desires." Alma Chapter 62, Part 5.
Tumblr media
25 And now when Moroni saw that they were fleeing before him, he did cause that his men should march forth against them, and slew many, and surrounded many others, and took them prisoners; and the remainder of them fled into the land of Moroni, which was in the borders by the seashore.
26 Thus had Moroni and Pahoran obtained the toopossession of the city of Nephihah without the loss of one soul; and there were many of the Lamanites who were slain.
27 Now it came to pass that many of the Lamanites that were prisoners were desirous to ajoin the people of Ammon and become a free people.
28 And it came to pass that as many as were desirous, unto them it was granted according to their desires.
29 Therefore, all the prisoners of the Lamanites did join the people of Ammon, and did begin to labor exceedingly, tilling the ground, raising all manner of grain, and flocks and herds of every kind; and thus were the Nephites relieved from a great burden; yea, insomuch that they were relieved from all the prisoners of the Lamanites.
30 Now it came to pass that Moroni, after he had obtained possession of the city of Nephihah, having taken many prisoners, which did reduce the armies of the Lamanites exceedingly, and having regained many of the Nephites who had been taken prisoners, which did strengthen the army of Moroni exceedingly; therefore Moroni went forth from the land of Nephihah to the land of Lehi.
Prisoners are persons who are dejected and forced to resume a spiritual existence under duress. This is not ideal. Continual repentance is not a religious way of life it is pathetic. We need to release the prisoners of repentance and become upright adults capable of handling the challenges of adult life on this planet.
To solve this problem, Alma says grown ups are supposed to model the appropriate and legal spiritual principals to the rest and eventually it will work. For this we need the church, temple, and mosque to rub away at the exterior motivations for sin and reveal the urges of the Holy Spirit inside all living things.
This is what is meant by Moroni and Pahoran "the Spirit of God and the Words of Light" took possession of the "City of the Brotherhood of the Prophetic" Nephihah and traded out the lives of the insipid, one for one, for the lives of intelligent, decent human beings.
The next target for "enlightening light" is the City of Lehi, which means "jawbone" and translates also into "Og" the place where the bread dough meets the coals.
The Gematria of the final verse in this section is 9597, טהטז‎, tahtaz, "to come from beneath and support up with strength" which says it all. Empathy for the suffering of others around the world is nice but it is not the same as getting rid of the ugliness of suffering all around us, the kind caused by rotten politicians, inept leaders and their very very strange religious followers. We have watched these kinds of people wreck the world for hundreds of years, and thanks to the passage of certain laws, the UN Declaration of Human Rights, we are no longer under any obligation to do so.
You can thank former PM of the United Kingdom, David Cameron for helping to make it the Highest Law of the Land, too. Thanks to him, all the major governments in the world are obligated to observe it.

i really didn’t enjoy the dark brotherhood quest in skyrim. this was my first time doing it but i was disappointed that it’s not even like… the real dark brotherhood? i mean, it is, kind of, but i wished it felt more “official” instead of… what it was lol. it felt less like an assassin job and more like a bunch of inept misfits who just wanted to kill for the fun of it

Muslim Brotherhood Chief Of Staff Of New York Attorney General Resigns Over Sex Harassment
Attorney General Letitia James has targeted the NRA and Trump. But, her own house was dirty. While New York has turned into a broiling hellhole of crime and violence, Attorney General Letitia James has maintained a laser focus on the real threat… Republicans. Aside from an inept attempt to replace Cuomo with sexual harassment charges, AG James has illegally targeted the NRA and Trump. Meanwhile…

Character Bio-Sloth
Continuing with the characters and their comparisons to the Animes’ character motivations, today we’re covering Sloth. As a reminder, I’m mainly looking for character motivations that relate to the actual sin that they represent and I’m only going to touch on the Anime characters briefly because you are likely more familiar with them than I am and I don’t want to belittle a character you may feel strongly for. You can find my general overview of the Duality characters here:
https://the-duality-scribe.tumblr.com/post/684621069368377344/on-character
Duality Dissonance:
Upon meeting Sloth, he initially shows a laissez-fair mentality but as he gets pulled into their journey, he does get more involved by way of constantly questioning “the plan.” He never wanted to be involved but is led to believe that his way of life is threatened and if he doesn’t act, then all ways will be lost. He immediately displays a dislike for not knowing plans or intentions. He is sarcastic and often questions the reasoning behind the group’s intentions. He voices questions and concerns that the reader might also be having. He may come across as wanting to take shortcuts but he becomes confrontational when he believes he is being led by flawed logic or an incomplete plan. Sarcasm is usually the form his confrontation takes on. While he comes across as being very athletic, he is actually more inept than another might assume. EV is aware of this and is frustrated by that. Because of EV’s desires, he sees Sloth as having great strength but squandering it. Sloth doesn’t seek challenge. He desires to be and remain comfortable. Problems and troubles are for other people to deal with and Pride chides him for this. He is told that burying his head in the sand doesn’t stop the outside world from existing and if he doesn’t get involved, the progress of that world might roll right over him. Sloth is more complex than I initially gave him credit for. While he has moments where the rest of the group questions his usefulness, he does have a powerful journey which is made even stronger by his influence on the journey of others.
                                                   **************
The Seven Deadly Sins-Harlequin:
Tumblr media
Despite Harlequin aka King aka Sloth seeming lazy by floating on a pillow most of the time, he is actually a pretty hard worker. He is called King because he was the fairy king and responsible for protecting the Fairy King’s Forest. At one point, another fairy assumes the identity of a human that was killing fairies for their wings. Under this assumed identity, the fairy began killing other humans. When it was determined that humans were killed by a fairy, Harlequin was imprisoned because one of his subjects committed these acts under his watch, therefor being guilty of sloth. Here’s a wiki with more information on King:
https://nanatsu-no-taizai.fandom.com/wiki/King#Personality
                                                  **************
Fullmetal Alchemist-Sloth:
Tumblr media
There are some variances in FMA that I’m not super clear on myself so I’m just going to mention the Brotherhood version. I can see some similarities between the FMA Sloth and Duality’s. The FMA Sloth is the largest of the other sins and has a strength that he doesn’t often use to full effect. He complains about working, thinking and even views living as a chore. He also has the slowest regeneration abilities of the other homunculous. There is also a female version of Sloth in the 2003 anime that is an entirely different character. I included this version since it was modeled after the source material. You can find out more on this Sloth here:
https://fma.fandom.com/wiki/Sloth
                                                  **************
Duality’s Sloth/Actor Similarity:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I started imagining Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord as Sloth but there’s also some Andy from Parks and Rec in there as well. He is a bit of a doofus and is inept in several ways. Physically, he is more like Dante of DMC. He is physically capable of more than he commits to but the problem resides in him actually committing to things. His decisions usually revolve him taking a path of least resistance but he does grow and make changes as the story progresses.
Interactive: Feel free to comment and ask Duality’s Sloth something you want to know. As I stated in the initial post on characters though, he may not give you the answer that you are looking for. His world is different from ours but he does have a limited knowledge of things of our world. Also, his answers will be based on his understanding within the first 3 chapters of the story and he won’t give you answers related to spoilers :) Enjoy!

There’s mods that make you have bonuses for not attacking any humans or animals like pacifist runs so you get way more experience for doing so. Companions killing stuff doesn’t add to your pipboy so people have companions kill stuff for them. I was wondering how would the companions react to an idealistic, pacifist courier who never kills things and runs away from fights even stuff which would be easy to kill but who is super skilled at non combat things (you get so much xp and skill points!) thanks if you do this and try a playthrough like this sometime if you want it’s fun haha
Awe aren't Las Vegas mods great? I wish I could install even the most simple mod but I am inept at technology 😅 I'm sure it's a blast though! Maybe if I ever get my crao together I'll play it haha.
Arcade: Very surprised. The courier seems like the type of person to shoot first and ask questions later, and you are... the exact opposite. If you make him do all the fighting, he will be extremely annoyed. Angry even, if you guys get into a severe situation. "I'm one to respect ideologies, but I could use a little help!" If you want to avoid fighting all together, he'll respect. Maybe it's a bit unrealistic to him, but he's a Follower so he isn't going to be excited for violence. He's impressed by your other skills, and very glad that not all of the medical expertise is on his shoulders.
Boone: To be honest, he thought you were an idiot at first. He believed you not killing things was an inability to do so, not a choice/ideology. How could someone who got revenge for his wife be so inept? He finds out your way of thinking and isn't happy about it, believes it quite niave, but it's better than traveling with someone who can't take care of themselves at all. When he finds out all your skills, he looks genuinely surprised for once. Maybe he underestimated you just a little bit... it IS nice when you repair his gun. It will take a lot of convincing for him to talk it out with the Legion though, so be sure to prepare for that.
Cass: Very very confused about why you ran from one tiny radscorpian. When you explain your pacifist ways, she's visibly annoyed. "That's all nice and dandy, but this isn't dreamland. The wasteland is dangerous, how could you not have learned that by now?" Then she sees your other skills, and she understands at least a little. The way you weasel out of situations is impressive to say the least. If she tried to do the things you did she'd be six feet under. If you let her fight, she'd be a bit annoyed at being the only one fighting, but you've gotten them out of muddy situations too so she supposes it balances out. If you don't let her fight, she'd have trouble with it. Not being able to defend herself and you makes her feel helpless, and that is a feeling that definitely doesn't agree with her.
Lily: If you let her do the killing she won't mind, she puts herself in front if you anyway! Let grandma handle this. If you want her to stay passive, she's hesitant. "Okay dearie, grandma will do her best." Lilly tries bless her soul, but she can't help it sometimes with her psychotic breaks. When she finds out you other skills she's so proud! Repairing weapons, helping others with their wounds, you do it all! Wow! Don't worry dearie grandma will crush those bad radscorpians for you!
Raul: He's very sarcastic when you refuse to fight. Big surprise, right? "Oh yeah, boss. Run from the big bad giant ant. Leave the old man to clean up this mess." He understands your philosophy, but he's been here a lot longer than you. It's just not realistic in his opinion. He then sees your skills and understands how you've made it this far. Your repairing skills impress even him. If you let him fight, he does NOT enjoy fighting alone. "Sure, boss. Let the rotting ghoul fight alone. Great idea." If you don't let him fight, that's fine he guesses. Just don't come crying to him when a limb gets blown off! Still, you are pretty good at medicine, so maybe you could just sew it back on.
Veronica: "Oh wow! There's no one like you in the Brotherhood!" You can't decide if that's a compliment or not... she's more curious about your way of thinking than angry or annoyed. It makes her a little nervous. Your luck can't run deep enough that you just... don't fight, right? Then she sees your other skills and understands how you get by. Your skills with medicine, repairing, etc. Is almost unmatched. So if you let her fight, her combat and your other skills make for a great team! If you don't want her to fight, she'll be a but upset since she's good at it. But this will be a learning opportunity at least.
ED-E: If you leave all the fighting to him, he will be sure to take care of what he can. If you want him to not fight at all, you get a few confused beeps when you initiate the protocol. But ED-E of course follows your lead. Just be sure not to get hurt, that will get plenty of sad beeps :(
Rex: Doesn't like it >:( if something hurts you then you should hurt them back! He will absolutely step in to protect you if you let him. If you tell him not to fight, he will pout and growl but do as told. You always seem to get out of bad situations, so he supposes it's okay.

My First Destiel Fic, vol.3
Tumblr media
Thank you guys for sharing your memories! My First Destiel Fic is a nostalgic survey open to any destiel fan and has a simple goal - to celebrate fics that were our gateway into a wonderful world of destiel shipping. Thank you, fic writers, you are our heroes!
from @nextheirofslytherin
my first destiel fic was “In This Secluded Spot I Respond As I Wouldn't Dare Elsewhere” by RhymePhile. the girl i liked who got me into supernatural in middle school recommended it to me, so it always has a special place in my heart 😅 it was the first fic i read on ao3 too! i read it while i was watching s3 (cas hadn’t even shown up yet!) but the show was in its 9-10th season
All fic titles link directly to the fic, when it’s possible, we have added another link to our review or submitted rec post.
In This Secluded Spot I Respond As I Wouldn’t Dare Elsewhere by rhymephile [M, 34,000 word count, posted 2010] (our review)
It's 1995, and Castiel's high school years are destined to be difficult: home-schooled until eighth grade, he is awkward, shy, and socially inept. The weird kid with the funny name would rather isolate himself and draw in his sketchbook than deal with the constant bullying he faces every day. Things only get worse in his junior year when he excels in home economics class, leading the captain of the baseball team, Alastair, to start taunting him for being gay. Then new student Dean Winchester arrives at Flour Bluff High School, sharing many of Castiel's classes. Castiel has seen his type before -- handsome, athletic, arrogant, and sure to be the most popular kid in school. But Castiel eventually learns that he and Dean have more in common than he thought, and they form an unlikely friendship.

i joined the fandom in the beginning of 2019 and molting expectations by tricia_16 was the first fic (over 11k words) that i read. it really made me fall in love with deancas because i realised i didn't need them to be in the canon!verse to be so wonderful, their relationship was amazing in whatever universe they were in and it was always intriguing to read about!!
Molting Expectations by tricia_16 [163,100 word count, posted 2019]
After having trouble coping with a traumatic incident on the job, Dean takes his little brother's advice and leaves everything behind to go stay at the old family cabin in Colorado. Nobody's been there for years so it needs some major work, but it's secluded, and that turns out to be exactly what Dean needs in order to start to feel at peace again. Now in the mountains with nothing but nature to amuse himself with, he takes up bird watching and plans a hike into the mountain range across from his cabin in search of a golden eagle. High up in the mountains, he discovers human footprints. Thinking someone is in danger, he follows them into a cave and quickly becomes familiar with a form of wildlife he never could have imagined: winged people who call themselves angels.

I actually started out in the fandom against Destiel. I mean, it was pretty clear that Dean Winchester was not into men. But then I read “Redemption Road” by accident around 2015. I didn’t know it was Destiel. But I got really into it and this fic totally changed my mind on Dean/Cas. I have since read hundreds of Destiel fics and I am more into the ship than ever. My absolute favorite fanfic is “Sweaters and Cigarettes” by lemonoclefox. I love how shy, caring Dean softens cynical Castiel and how in love they are despite being so different. It makes me smile when I’m down.
Redemption Road by spnredemption (the fic is a collaborative effort of a group of destiel writers and artists) [NC-17, 650,000 word count, 24 episodes, posted 2011-12)
With Castiel having set himself up as the new God, drunk on power and volatile as a nuclear reactor, Dean, Sam, and Bobby find themselves on the run from the jealous, capricious monster wearing the face of their friend. Desperate for protection and wary of his brother’s mental state since Castiel unlocked Sam’s memories of Hell, Dean knows Castiel must be defused before he can wreak further havoc in Heaven or on Earth. Although Bobby advocates for destroying Castiel by whatever means necessary, Dean is convinced the Cas he once knew still remains, buried somewhere beneath the mass of poisonous souls and calling out for help. Determined to save the angel who once rescued him from Hell and redefined his purpose in life, Dean himself must resist the allure of the false deity vying for his obedience, and come to terms with the knowledge, long-suppressed, that his feelings for Castiel run much deeper than brotherhood. It is this bond, and the dubious distinction of the Righteous Man, that will ultimately grant Dean access to where Castiel’s grace languishes in Purgatory. However, what Dean brings back with him is broken, angry, and only half-angel, certainly not the Castiel he remembers—and nor is it the only thing that returns to Earth with them…
Sweaters & Cigarettes by lemonoclefox [NC-17, 150,000 word count, posted 2014]  NOTE - the fic was deleted from ao3 by the author, please see our review for more details
Dean Winchester is in high school, crushing hard on Castiel Novak, the unbelievably hot goth who Dean does his very best to convince himself he hates, despite the fact that he can’t really stop staring at him. Dean tries, but when the two of them finally cross paths, their first conversation takes a surprising turn. And suddenly, they both find themselves falling harder and faster than they ever could have expected.
from @iamasphodelknox
Hi! The fic that made Destiel my OTP was The Walk series by Persephoneshadow. It blew my mind and I hadn’t even started watching Supernatural yet. 🙈 I started watching the show last year, just as Season 15 was starting. I’m a newbie but this comfort ship felt like coming home. I also read a turn of the earth by microcomets just as I got to season 4 and it is one of the best things I’ve ever read, fic or no. :)
The Walk by Persephoneshadow [NC-17, 190,000 word count, posted 2017]
Castiel tells himself it was a one time thing, even if his night with a hooker named Dean changed his whole world, but he can’t keep away from the man fate keeps throwing in his path. Castiel is married and he knows his sexuality is an affront to God and everything he’s ever been told is right. Dean tells himself he doesn’t care about the weirdo with blue eyes, but every time they meet he gets a bit closer to something like hope. Dean’s nothing but a homeless waste of space with a brother in foster care a world away and a father in the wind. As the connection between these two lost men deepens, it threatens the carefully maintained lies their lives are built on in a story of faith, mistakes, and the journey of love.
a turn of the earth by mishcollin microcomets [NC-17, 95,300 word count, posted 2015] (our review)
Dean’s your typical half-orphaned, monster-killing 22-year-old until a trenchcoated stranger crashes into his back windshield one September night, claiming he’s an angel that knows him from the future and that he’s on the run. Frigging fantastic. (Or, in which Castiel gets stuck in Dean’s timeline pre series and Dean kind of hates it—until he doesn’t.)
If you enjoyed the fic, please drop by the archive (AO3) and let the author know with your comments and/or kudos! And if you found our recs useful, let us know by Liking and/or Reblogging our posts!

I know everyone here is SICK of my Duggan hate but-- It strikes me, he really just CAN’T write complex characters? I’ve noted many times over how he’s dedicatedly stripped Shaw of anything likeable or human not only the present, but actively retconned events to make him a 2D sack of evil (and frankly, inept evil) in the past as well. But he also goes out of his way to do the reverse for Emma, retconning that she’s ACTUALLY been a good person All Along even when she was at her most evil (so. . . what about her neverending journey to be a better person then, if she always was?) and actually Always Helped Other Women (which is like. . .pretty laughable to anyone who has read her past issues) to fit his ‘feminist’ theme. And there’s also, as many others have noted, how the secondary cast is just. .  .bereft of character, or likewise one-not. Bobby, Pyro, Shinobi, and Bishop can go for ISSUES without speaking, and when they do, it’s like. . .one line. They show the bare minimum of personality most of the time, and while sometimes Duggan can hit a home run (Shinobi’s remark about how he and his dad have done well in not trying to kill each other so far) a lot of it is just. . . why are they there? No, really. They don’t really do anything, and the “plots” he gives them are typically underwhelming and resolved in one issue.  Pyro, as @sammysdewysensitiveeyes has noted, hasn’t been demonized into a total strawman like Shaw, but he’s also really not at all recognizable as Pyro either. His character is entirely a one-note buffoon who is there for stupid comic relief, and there’s zero discussion about his past prior to coming back---his time with the Brotherhood, his battle with the Legacy Virus, the changes he underwent as a person when he was at death’s door, or even the stuff before that as a wartime journalist in Southeast Asia. None of that is there, there’s just this chaotic frat boy joke that Duggan pretty much entirely made up; he only even acknowledges Pyro is a Gothic Romance novelist after 20 issues, and even then it’s to make him look like a joke some more. Like Shaw, he’s just got one dimension now. Duggan seems to WANT to talk about abuse, specifically at the hands of men, which both Christian and Shinobi have experienced, as both were abused by their fathers. But he never, ever brings that up. Instead, he retroactively invents that Shaw abused Lourdes, and tacks on an abusive backstory to a female villain. I don’t think he thinks men can be abused? Or just. . .doesn’t care. His male characters are the ones who suffer most from flatness and having to be inept, evil, or both while the Cool Women Do Things, and I guess he, like lots of men, thinks that’s what Feminism (TM) is, just he’s not whining about it and is performing it instead. Speaking of that female villain, Wilhemina is a nasty evil sadistic little girl who not only happily kills/hurts people, she also kills and tortures animals, especially kittens. And you know what? I bet in the hands of a skilled writer, she very much COULD be made sympathetic and understandable. But what Duggan does is he just takes her and literally in ONE SCENE is like “oh she understands it was wrong now and is SUPER SORRY see she’s CRYING and also she did it because she was SEXUALLY ABUSED” and bam, we’re supposed to feel for her. There’s no buildup, no exploration, just a sudden explanation and remorse and that’s. . . .it?  Compare MANON AND MAXIME whom I’ve written about before. They’re two children who were traumatized, abused, exploited, and made to hurt others by their abuser, which they seemed to enjoy doing. Now that they’re free and living on Krakoa, they do still exhibit unacceptable behavior at times, sometimes out of vengeance, sometimes in self-defense gone too far, and sometimes out of a desire to help and please others but lacking the tools to understand boundaries and appropriateness and respect for other’s autonomy. They’re a very unsettling blend of being sweet, childlike children, too eager to please adults, and little gremlins who seem to take joy in messing with people’s minds---or who just don’t understand when it’s wrong even when they mean well. Unsettling, and realistic. Psychic powers aside, I find the twins to be much closer to real-world victims of abuse, especially children, in that they’re NOT “good victims” or “bad victims”. They’re not the “abuse makes you evil” trope, but they still have fucked-up behavior so they’re not the “little abused angel who just sobs beautifully but whose symptoms are all sympathetic uwu” either, which is just as rare and as damaging a stereotype in its own way because it holds that up as how survivors of abuse “should” be. And, as said, that’s rarely it. Most survivors come out of abuse with behaviors that AREN’T sympathetic but DID help them survive, and they ARE NOT BAD PEOPLE FOR IT. This shit is complicated. Then there’s Wilhemina, who starts out as just a monster (even though, realistically, if a child is hurting animals, they probably DO need help) and then the moment her tragic backstory is revealed, she also recognizes and regrets all her wrongdoings. She jumps from one extreme to the other in the space of a few panels, but remains totally one-dimensional either way. And of course, Lourdes. We didn’t see to much of her personality BEFORE Duggan got ahold of her, but in her two issues pre-retcon, she showed a surprising amount of depth and moral ambiguity. She was a member of the Hellfire Club and high enough in its ranks to try to prevent Shaw from being nominated as Black Bishop, claiming she’d seen how it changed people. She clearly had seen some shit and despises it, yet she remained within it. She also seemed content with the idea of Shaw and Buckman experimenting on mutants as guinea pigs, her concern was more doing it on the X-Men specifically and that Buckman would betray Shaw. And she had far more agency when she chose to give her life to save Shaw’s, than Duggan’s version that needed Emma to tell her what to do. Duggan’s Lourdes is a brainless doll who talks like a little girl and needs Emma to handle everything for her, despite it largely not making sense that she would, given her own resources. She’s more morally pure, perhaps, but also one-dimensional. Only room for ONE Woman With Agency here, honey! TL;DR Duggan really can’t write characters that are more than one or two notes, and it shows.

A part of the family
a/n: I blame thank @supervillain-smut for pushing me down the fandom abyss of TES Oblivion once more. I always had a feeling that the Dark Brotherhood was like a little dysfunctional family. Here we have Lucien Lachance and Vicente Valtieri bringing in the reader as a new recruit. Nothing could go wrong here, right?
Inviting a new assassin into Sithi's arms, to become a part of their small family, was always a cause for debate in the sanctuary. No matter, for Lucien was the speaker and as speaker he was steadfast in his choice!
Certainly, the way the new child of the night had picked their mother's interest... was unorthodox to say the least.
Pushing an adoring fan from the peak of a mountain- after having the elf carry all their utensils, food and armor up such heights- was certainly not very subtle, but Lucien supposed ruthlessness was also a decisive factor in the election.
Three days and two contracts later he was certain he had brought ruin and chaos upon them all! Like the gates of Oblivion opening and flinging destruction unto the mortal realm, the newest recruit was busy causing mayhem and destitution wherever they went.
Sithis help him! Who started a drinking game in the middle of an inn frequented by Nords, resumed to drink the last of them under the table and then finish their contract in a alcohol induced stupor!?
The soft but exasperated voice of Vicente drifted through the dark corridors like a thick mist, greeting the Speaker on his arrival at the Sanctuary. "What am I to do with you?" The long weary sigh was interrupted by shattering teeth. "Come now Vic, it was the perfect alibi! No one would have believed it was me after the amount of Ale I downed!" The newest assassin was wrapped in a mountain of blankets, but still held a certain ounce of pride in their voice.
Vicente, after the two previous "solutions" to difficult situations, by now accustomed to the deranged mind of his new charge, ignored the undignified nickname. After all there were far more pressing matters at hand!
"Yes, the perfect alibi! Pray tell, how did you wind up with severe hypothermia again?"
Oh this was getting quite entertaining! Lucien hovered in the Shadows witnessing the mumbled response.
"I am sorry my dear, my old ears seem to have suffered in the last decades. Care to repeat that?"
"I-thought-it-would-be-funny-to-steal-a-imperial-legion-horse-and-ride-into-a-snow-storm... in my underwear...."
"You know, sometimes I am quite unsure if you aren't send by Sheogorath himself. If Ocheeva hadn't found you passed out snoaring in the snow, you'd be dead now! I do not care if you managed to finish every contract without anyone being suspicious- Sitith only knows how you managed that!"
When the assassin opened their shattering teeth to respond, the usual calm Vampire raised a pale hand. "Cease your explanations! Clearly you can't be trusted to fulfill your duties responsibly. So, I am sure the Speaker agrees with me that you won't leave the Sanctuary until you found some sense!"
Here, red eyes found Lucien, the Shadows engulfing him no match for the ancient bloddy stare. Not showing his unease at being spotted like an inept farm hand playing pretend, Lucien smiled. A smile so full of cold steel that even the resident undead had to suppress a shiver.
"Actually, the mother has a new life to bring into her embrace, my child."
His announcement was met by a betrayed stare of Vicente. Who's face had somehow begun to show his true age, with the heavy sigh- also a newly acquired habit- he turned and stalked into the depths of the Sanctuary. The dark welcoming him like a lost lover.
The vampire's retreat was met by a nervous shuffle of blankets and a hollow crash, as the newest recruit and hope of their family, got stuck in the offensive wool and tumbled helplessly to the ground.
Sithis help him!

Oh.. You know what? New idea for tormenting our favorite bard in my “the Brotherhood of Flames and Poetry” AU. Withdrawal, poisoning and subsequent addiction. It's just an idea for now.
(For those who don't know in this AU Jaskier and Rience are friends, almost like brothers and were trained together to be assassins, spies and so on in the future.)
So, apart from other training and things, they used the potion to temporarily gain magic abilities, even without having a natural talent for magic and connection with chaos. (I twist the canon as I please, yes) So for example in battle they can teleport short distances, use magical shields and enhance the weapon into a blade, even if it's just a short dagger. Nothing big, but enough for their work. These are not the same potions as the Witcher. They are theoretically harmless, but they use concentrated chaos as one of the ingredients. So it can "burn" someone who is not used to it. Plus it is highly addictive like a drug. So using it is often an extreme measure because you will be high, but then you will have withdrawal symptoms and signs of poisoning.
And so something happens that Jaskier realizes that he needs to help Geralt (maybe there were others) with a monster or even several, so he drinks a bottle of this potion of his, which he always keeps with him just in case. So he manages to help the witcher (Geralt is shocked by what is happening, of course) by killing everyone like a rabid cat on catnip. It works for some time after (Jaskier is acting strange, even Ciri is a little scared) but then the withdrawal begins with all the accompanying symptoms and this is a nightmare for Jaskier. Rience is furious, especially when he learns that Jaskier has not used the potion for more than 20 years, which means that his body has again become inept to chaos (not completely but still).
He is angry at Jaskier and the others but still stays with his brother and will help him through it. Helping his body heal is one thing (they can't do it with magic though, because in that state it shouldn't touch his body), but addiction and withdrawal is another. Now Jaskier's soul yearns for chaos, but the body will not be able to accept it. So Rience sits with him (or lies down), hugs him and lets Jaskier's soul feel his own chaos. And that calms him down a bit. And in moments like this, even Jaskier can hear Rience's thoughts. Jaskier still feels like crap, but it's easier with Rience, always has been.
These are bad circumstances, Rience is aware of that. But he's not a very good person either. He's a madman after all. So somewhere inside he likes that he can feel Jaskier's soul so close. He presses his cheek against Jaskier's sweaty hair and secretly smiles.

brushing the encrusted teeth in the mouth of the world with all-natural fibers made of words (come sundown)
* at sunrise, revered icons are dropping like flies in this arid, barren wasteland;
today’s talismanned tots are in training, wired impatient countries & citizens who kick like newborns entranced and empowered by the newfound sounds of their digital voice that the world will soon hear in 3D surround.
new leaders are  collective larynxes, a vox populi unleashing tribal yelps of consciousness into a typhoon of change, vented toward the whackxed ears of the ones, percented, lying in quivering lairs of lawyers & tax-shelters, tented.
who be the mauraders who strip away voices packaging aims of world peoples into prechosen choices?
whose messages are muted? premises refuted?
parabolic axes of angst unduly computed?
inept algorithms always miss ‘em - those variables of spirit of a people engaged to rage against the regimes who machine the madness; shown by the beat of stomping feet in the street unwilling to retreat to a quoeful status woe.
come sundown, gonna be a whole lotta shakin goin on & safe houses destined to fall in countries neighborhoods where brotherhood ain’t so good; in an ethic cleansing of their acts on the world stage.
sundown’s comin’. * 5/14 - lebuc -  brushing the encrusted teeth in the mouth of the world with all-natural fibers made of words (come sundown)
