flame
*
moth to flame
your destiny wafts,
drawn by an elemental warmth
...no escaping it.
neither dust,
mist nor derelection
serves as a denier
& that wick - eternally bright
burns - though i'd just
as soon say
it bubbles out of you
& i'm entranced very time, flame,
...damn these singed wings.

Alliteration and assonance in Bilbo's Song of Earendil:
he built a boat of timber felled...her sails he wove of silver fair, / of silver were her lanterns made
his shinning shield...to ward all wounds and harm from him...his sword of steel...his helmet tall
From gnashing of the Narrow Ice...roving still / on starless waters...he came to Night of Naught...never sight he saw / of shining shore
The winds of wrath...the living light...with burning brow...the Sea / there strong and free a storm arose...his boat it bore with biting breath
he back was borne on black and roaring waves that ran...drowned before the Days began, / until he heard
with shining prow; now shaven oar / nor sail she bore on silver mast: the Silmaril as lantern light / and banner bright with living flame...to sail the shoreless skies
where softly silver fountains fall / his wings him bore, a wandering light...mighty Mountain Wall. / From World's End then he turned away, / and yearned again to find afar / his home
a wonder ere the waking dawn...in years of yore

A Poem: The Death of Bees
A Poem: The Death of Bees
IN THIS POEM WE EXPLORE,
the similarities between colonies of bees experiencing hive collapse and our planets Eco system. I have worked in a lot of alliteration, assonance, and consonance into this poem as that was originally my goal and purpose of writing poetry that day. I then worked with more chaotic sounding syllables into this part in an effort to capture audible the sound of chaotic…

embodiment of a dream

apprenticeship
preceeds any notion of skill
or its flaunting as an impresario,
a knowing master of the game
gaining influence & accolades
by the pound or bushel,
whichever's apt.
how long,
how many years,
how many lifetimes
must it necessarily take
to attain, to boldly go*
forth & claim the stake
rightly owned by your 10,000
(...hours)
plus the fortitude
to so do for so long
in the strong belief that
one day, you'll live
to see, to be...
the living embodiment of a dream:
your reality
for all the world to see.
how long indeed?

Dan
Dan was a man with a can in his van,
And the can in his van held bananas.
He ate the bananas
And threw out the can,
Then a man with a van is what Dan was.
Dan was a man who had jam on his hands;
He had jam on his hands and pajamas.
He took off the jammies,
And washed off the jam,
Then a man in his tan is what Dan was.
Dan was a man who had sand in his pants;
He had sand in his pants and bandanna.
He took off the pants
In a handy cabana,
Then a man wearing sand and a sandy bandanna,
Who ran to his van is what Dan was.

about your overlord! Shadow au (which seems REALLY cool so far) — Can sonic still run fast? He looks to have kept his knees, so he probably can still move his legs enough to run fast with his prosthetics. but can he run as fast as before ? Or does he have trouble adjusting ?
ALSO also, why didn’t shadow kill sonic when he removed his legs? Sonic was likely both cornered and bleeding out. He was by every means on the losing side, and shadow is smart enough to know that. did shadow spare his life in an act of pity? to humor himself the voices, or a secret third thing?
Love your AUs btw, I’m so invested
Oh, Sonic is still fast even with his prosthetics, he’s just not as fast as he once was. He’s still getting used to using them and used to being able to walk and run again, so he’s a little slower than his original base speed.
As for why Shadow decided to not just end him right then and there? Well, a little voice in him told him to just leave him there, let him bleed out. He doesn’t deserve to die by his hands alone.
