Duck Prints Press, the Indie Press owned by @unforth, founded by fancreators to help fanartists and fanfiction writers publish their original creations, with an emphasis on works featuring LGBTQIA+ characters, needs YOU!
To help us maximize the amount of money we can pay to creators as royalties, we rely on our Patreon and ko-fi to help pay our overhead costs. As things stand, we need to bring in about $750 a month to pay our baseline monthly expenses…and right now our crowdfunding plus monthly sales only bring in about half that. We have been, and will continue, operating at a deficit as long as necessary to get off the ground, but I’m sure it’s no surprise that if we had more money, we’d be able to do more—initiate more projects, support more authors, work with more artists, pay higher royalties, and more!
In exchange for this support, we offer a bunch of cool rewards for people who choose to back us, with levels ranging from $3 to $25/month. All backer levels include access to our Discord, behind-the-scenes blog posts, voting rights on polls that decide anthology and monthly story themes, and at least one free short story per month. At higher levels, backers get exclusive merchandise, bonus stories, free selections from our book catalog, extras for supporting our crowdfunding campaigns, and more!
We can reach our goals, and you can get lots of excellent stuff, by backing the Press on Patreon or ko-fi now! AND you’ll get your choice of a freebie if you back during the month of January!
Tumblr media
Become a backer of Duck Prints Press, and you get your choice of one of three backer-exclusive extras previously only available to Patreon and ko-fi backers who also backed our crowdfunding campaigns! We have limited supplies of these extras, and we’ll send them out on a first-come, first-serve basis; once we’re out, we’re out, and we’ll never be producing more of any of these! Or, if none of these are to your taste, you’re welcome to pick any one merch item priced $5 or less from the Merchandise section of our website. There, we’ve got bookmarks, stickers, key chains, magnets, and more! Also, all current backers will get to pick one freebie, too, as a big THANK YOU for their support thus far.
Don’t want to be a backer but want to help us spread the word? Well, have we got a giveaway for you! To encourage people to share this post, we’re offering a free copy of our first print anthology Add Magic to Taste, which features 20 sweet, fluffy, queer stories set at magical coffee shops, tea houses, and bakeries. There are only six mint, print copies of this book left, and they’re not for sale—this is the rare chance to get one for yourself!
Tumblr media
Want help a small, fan-run independent business get more support, and maybe win something awesome for your efforts? Then enter the giveaway! You get one entry for liking this post, and one entry per reblog for up to three reblogs! We’ll also give entries for sharing our posts on other platforms (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) with the same limits (one entry per like, up to three entries for sharing/retweeting/etc.). (Note: we will NOT give entries for people making their own posts. We love when people make their own posts, but they’re too difficult for us to track for giveaway purposes).
TL:DR: Duck Prints Press is a small-but-growing indie press working with fancreators. Become a backer on Patreon or ko-fi during January, 2023, and get all the backer rewards associated with the backer level you select PLUS a freebie worth up to $5. Help spread the word, get entries to win a fabulous print anthology available nowhere else!
Stuff for us, stuff for you—couldn’t be better! Don’t miss your chance: this event ends January 31st, 2023!
(And don’t forget to sign up for our mailing list so you can always hear about our latest projects, merchandise releases, crowdfunding campaigns, publications, coupons, and more!)
Thanks in advance, everyone!
(For all legalese related to this promotional event and giveaway, go to this link! Make sure you check it out.)

I’ve got some big news!
See this cool new science fiction anthology with short fiction, poetry, and art that celebrates human neurodiversity? The one called The Neurodiversiverse: Alien Encounters?
Well… It includes a short story written by me!
I’m so proud that my story is part of this new universe. The book celebrates human neurodiversity, with a focus on own voices stories told from the perspective of folks who are neurodivergent themselves, featuring autism, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, synesthesia, anxiety, and more. Representation is so important - I personally can't wait for this anthology to come out!
About 45 creators have worked on this book, including Cat Rambo, Tobias S. Buckell, M. D. Cooper, Ada Hoffmann, Jody Lynn Nye, and my Atthis Arts friends Clara Ward and Stewart C. Baker. It was edited by Anthony Francis and Liza Olmsted, with cover art by Barbara Candiotti.
You can preorder it now, and directly support all of these creators, on Kickstarter. The campaign will run until May 13. Please don’t miss it! Aside from the ebook and paperback edition (with a discounted early bird price!), you can add an original sticker, tote bag, or pin to your hoard, order bundles of books from Thinking Ink Press, and even acquire a special hardcover edition with slipcover that will be exclusive to this Kickstarter.
From the campaign:
“The Neurodiversiverse is for anyone who loves science fiction that stretches the mind!
In fact, when we first voyaged to your planet, we noticed that some members of your species coped better than others with the symphony of thought process found across the galaxy. These beings, whom many of you call neurodivergent, have diverse thinking styles enabling extraordinary responses to mind-bending situations.
Since your species communicates with words and images for enjoyment, we thought collecting stories, poems and art describing neurodiverse encounters with aliens would not only provide entertainment and edification to lovers of science fiction all across your globe, but also would facilitate our attempts to infiltrate your society.
The realized form of that collection is our science fiction anthology, The Neurodiversiverse: Alien Encounters!”

The Kickstarter to fund the publication of my novella The False Sister, and two other SFF/horror novellas by Alex Penland and Max Turner, is live! Pre-order now, if you can and want to-- the lowest tier gets you the e-book of your choice for £6 (about $7.50 US).
Here's the link; the Kickstarter page has more information on all three books, plus a video. If you can't or don't want to donate/pre-order, spreading this post around will also help. :-)

We have a cover, y'all!
The World As It Should Be is available for PRE-ORDER as a Kindle eBook on Amazon here!
PLEASE NOTE: There WILL also be a print edition, but it's not quite available for preorder yet. If you prefer a physical copy, I'll share the link for that order as soon as it's ready! (Of course, you could always order both a Kindle edition AND a physical copy. ;p)
Thank you so much to Maya Preisler, the wonderful cover artist, and to Mocha Memoirs Press, for making this debut author's dreams come true!
What would you sacrifice to change the world?
*Content warnings: suicidal ideation, supernatural horror, gore
Synopsis: Charity Olmstead wants to die. Despite being raised by two self-proclaimed psychics, she isn’t cut out for life in the new magic-ravaged world. When she meets a kelpie on a riverbank in Salem, she believes she’s found her exit. But it turns out the monster is hungry for more than a meal. Sensing Charity’s unawakened magic, he enlists her help in a quest for revenge against the hunters who slaughtered his mate, and in return he promises to grant Charity a swift, painless death once their job is done. As they track the hunters to their base, Charity and the kelpie uncover a terrifying truth: Salem’s corrupt mayor has joined a war that has been brewing for centuries, a battle for magical control that drove Salem's most powerful witch out of her mind and ended the world. Charity must take up the mantle of this fight, grow into her powers, and find a renewed will to live. But the war is not won yet, and its weight may prove too much to bear.

Debut horror novella pre-order now open!
Tumblr media
'What Happened at Hawthorne House' is now available for pre-order on Amazon! (I hate Amazon but I didn't get to choose the outlet) Currently, only the ebook edition is available (we're working on getting the print version up), but please spread the word to any who like gothic horror fiction! The total wordcount is about 30,000, so shorter than a regular book and average for a novella.
'Set in 1926, nine-year-old Rosalyn invents a new game to play with the girls she shares a dormitory with in the Hawthorne House Orphanage. Revolving around a Royal Court, their make-believe game quickly becomes a way to gain some measure of control in their unhappy lives. But when the rules start changing and the stakes start rising, nothing is safe, and Rosalyn finds that she’s willing to get her hands dirty in order to be the Queen.
Rosalyn will do whatever it takes to wear the crown.
All that’s left is to take it.'
The Clover Court is eager to meet you...

There’s no time like the present to back the Duck Prints Press Patreon!
Why should you back Duck Prints Press?
support a queer-owned indie press, founded by fandom creators for fandom creators looking to publish their original work!
help a great, transparent, ethical small business that helps usually queer, often disabled, creators publish queer stories and art!
AND you get awesome stuff in exchange!
Wait, I’ll get stuff?
You will get so much stuff!!!
a free short story every month!
exclusive teasers and previews!
behind-the-scenes access via our Patreon blog and Discord!
voting rights to influence future anthology themes!
a discount in our webstore!
and that’s JUST THE MINIMUM LEVEL! You get all that for ONLY $3 PER MONTH. Higher levels get EVEN MORE!
Why is now a great time?
we will no longer be releasing new short stories to our website! So backing on Patreon will be the only way to get them!
as a result, we just changed how many stories our backers get!
$3/month backers now get one short story per month
$5/month backers now get two short stories per month
$7/month backers now a minimum of four short stories per month
$10/month backers now a minimum of five short stories per month
$25/month backers now a minimum of six short stories per month
when you back, you also get instant access to every single backer-reward story we’ve ever released! As of right now, that’s 30 free stories for backers at the $3/month, $5/month, and $7/month level, and 59 free stories for backers at the $10/month and $25/month level! That’s a LOT of stories!!!
Did you just buy Many Drops Make a Stream by Adrian Harley? People who back us on Patreon will get an exclusive epilogue when we fulfill the pre-order campaign! And, if you back us at the $10/month or $25/month level before October 15th, you can still get our Patreon-exclusive bonus reward (it’s a totally awesome engraved wooden coaster)! We’ll add the extra retroactively to your order, even though pre-orders are now closed!
Did you just buy To Drive the Hundred Miles by Alec J. Marsh? Patrons at the $10/month and $25/month level who back the campaign (which runs until October 20th!) will also get a bonus extra: a snowflake ornament!
and I mean, isn’t it always a good time to support a queer indie press?
So come on over to our Patreon, help us grow our Press, and get lots of awesome stuff for yourself!
Who We Are: Duck Prints Press LLC is an independent publisher owned and operated by @unforth. We work with fan creators to publish their original art and stories. We are particularly dedicated to publishing works featuring characters from across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. Love what we do but aren’t up for backing right now? That’s okay! Sign up for our monthly newsletter and get previews, behind-the-scenes information, coupons, and more!
