You can't do this (While studying)
Tumblr media
How many times you have told yourself, "I can't do this!"
I can't memorise so many formulas. I can't understand advanced concepts. I can't visualise. I can't solve difficult questions. I can't understand book language. I can't sit for long hours.
You know what! Did you ever study this hard before in your life? Have you ever been dedicated so much to anything in your life before? Have you ever been so mature and serious in your life?
You are doing most of the things the first time. JEE is a difficult exam. You are forced to do difficult things. But ask yourself, "Don't difficult things make us realise that we are more powerful than we think?" You must have at least some good things in JEE. For example, that one chapter, concept, or subject you are an expert at.
We give up easily. We need to give more time to overcome each challenge. When a student says he can't memorise formulas or reactions, most probably, he hasn't worked hard enough on it. He might have tried remembering a few formulas one day. He forgot them, and now he says that he cannot memorise. With this low effort, even an expert cannot memorise.
When you are doing something for the first time, you need to push a little bit hard. You need to give it a bit more time, a few more attempts. Once you crack the technique for yourself, it comes naturally to you. Slowly, you get used to it. For example, the student understood the technique to memorise better. He applied it and did a lot of hard work. It took a few days, but he saw improvement. Then he tried memorising other chapters. Slowly, he became an expert at memorising things. He even forgets that there was a time when he struggled at memorising.
Guys, there might be some things that you feel you can't do. Push a bit more, and you will realise that you are much more capable than you think. Gradually, you will develop confidence and self-respect as well.
I can't You can memorise so many formulas. I can't You can understand advanced concepts. I can't You can visualise. I can't You can solve difficult questions. I can't You can understand book language. I can't You can sit for long hours.
All the best!

will never understand kids who yell at their parents because they bought them iphone 11 and not iphone 14.
because mai nokia ka keypad chala rahi hu.
like some of yall had unconditional love and support from your parents who never made you feel as if you didnt deserve anything and it shows.
kyuki mere ghar pe toh har ek cheez conditional h. marks acche nahi aaye toh bahar se accha khana deserve ni karte, naye kapde deserve ni karte, doston se baat karna deserve ni karte, abey aur toh aur "tution nahi bhejenge kyuki tum education ke layak hii nahi ho" (which is what i get to hear after asking to join a tution for the first time in my life in 11th grade).
like kabhi kabar lagta h ki aisi hii zindagi honi thi toh kyu 1st se 8th tak jee jaan lagake mehnat karke hamesha full marks laayi mai? uski appreciation kabhi di nahi, vo ab ho nahi raha toh sunne ko bhot milta h. saala uss time ye sab chodhke thoda jee hii liya hota, atleast life ka ek part toh khushi se nikalta. ab lag raha h 16 saal ki zindagi toh barbad hii kardi maine. uss time ki mehnat ab matter ni karti, par ab mehnat ho nahi rahi h.
it just...gets unbearable to watch other people living their life after a while ya know? like you look at people who are going out, having fun with their friends, doing what they love, having good relationships with their family, and just, like their problems are so much different? they may not have their life together either, but you envy them because you don't have the privilege to do the same as them, because you know you're the one to blame for the subjects you chose, the life you chose. you see them actually living, and realise that youre still stuck in a loop, waiting for your life to begin, as you have for as long as you have been alive.
a couple days back one of my friends adopted a dog and i had a breakdown over it because....ye toh mai bhi deserve karti hu na yaar. mujhe kab milega ye? kabhi milega bhi? abhi tak toh nahi mila. aur ab toh milne ke chances bhi itne kam hain kyuki dena mujhe JEE h.
you can't help but feel hopeless.
pehle lagta tha jab kuch bhi sahi nahi tha ki....koi nahi, atleast academics ho raha h. atleast acche dost hain ab bhi. atleast ek acche future ka prospect h.
and then you lose it all. nothing to comfort you. nothing to make you feel as if atleast one thing in your life is going right, because it isn't. because your life is just one huge black hole now sucking away your happiness, your sense of identity. mujhe khud nahi pata mai kon hu. ab toh dost bhi chutne lage hain.
like, outwardly yes ill work hard and get out of this, but what then? people say "it's just 2 years uske baad sab bhot easy hoga" but what they don't understand is that it's not just 2 years. ive worked hard my entire life, and im sick of the constant guilt, constant expectations, constant pressure. i dont know if i have it in myself to hold on for 2 years more.
fir agar tumhare coping mechanisms maladaptive daydreaming and internet addiction h then toh hogya bas tumhara.
i could go on for a millennia with this rant. abhi toh family trauma bhi touch nahi kiya h. but then that will just be another proof of "yes, here's another thing going wrong in your life"
like, i have to remind myself each day that i dont have anything to be shameful about, i dont have anything that i dont deserve. love shouldnt be conditional. support shouldnt be conditional. especially if love and support are from your family and if they are based on a handful of figures.
like if at this point if i go and start doing drugs and alcohol to get some relief then can my parents blame me? but i cant do that, because guilt!
when will this end? i just wanna sleep.
par sone ke liye 5 min shanti se letna padta h and mai apne khudke thoughts tolerate kar paane ki ability kho chuki hu.

Prioritize topics based on their weightage and your proficiency level. A balanced approach ensures comprehensive coverage of the syllabus.
Comprehensive Study Material:
Invest in high-quality study material, including textbooks, reference books, and online resources. Choose renowned authors and publishers known for their clarity and accuracy. Additionally, solve previous years' question papers and sample papers to familiarize yourself with the exam pattern and improve time management skills.
Conceptual Clarity:
Focus on building a strong conceptual foundation in each subject. Instead of rote memorization, strive to understand the underlying principles and theories. Practice solving problems from basic to advanced levels to reinforce your understanding and develop problem-solving skills.
Effective Time Management:
Time management is a critical aspect of exam preparation. Allocate time judiciously to cover all subjects and topics adequately. Break your study sessions into smaller intervals with short breaks to maintain focus and productivity. Identify your peak hours of concentration and schedule challenging tasks accordingly.
Regular Revision and Practice:
Revision is key to retention and reinforcement of concepts. Schedule regular revision sessions to consolidate your learning and identify areas that need further improvement. Additionally, practice solving mock tests and quizzes to gauge your progress and simulate exam conditions. Analyze your performance, identify mistakes, and work on improving accuracy and speed.

GUESS WHAT... I THINK I DID IT!!!
It has been so long since I have posted here. I started this blogging so that I can share my thoughts (truest thoughts) of how I feel during this journey of preparing for the JEE exam and its aftereffects. If you see my previous post, it would have sounded depressing as hell. But I am here to update you on my life. And this is going to be LOOONNGGG. so hold yourself up till the end.
So I give my JEE Advanced and when I calculate my score, it is known to be below par. Poor enough to make me forget my IIT dreams. The counseling starts, and I get production engineering from NIT, CALICUT. It is decent but not what I wanted to get. At this point, I lost HOPE in everything. Literally everything. I used to pray to god like crazy but then I didn't bother to pray at all. I thought I was not going to college this year. I will study for one whole year again to give JEE the next year. To see my friends get into the nicest colleges, I felt really really LOST (I am being real).
Though my parents were disappointed, they were still trying to boost my morale. They took me to a temple and I did some rituals and poojas but with literally NO HOPE. Every night I cried about how much of a fool I was on this journey to have wasted my potential.
But then one evening, I think I was watching a series or something. Maybe B99 (which u guys should definitely watch). My parents came rushing through my door only to say " YOU GOT INTO NTU." (In case you're wondering, NTU is in Singapore and is one of the finest universities in Asia). My mind just .... it just FROZE. I didn't know how to react. My mom was crying and my dad... shit even my dad was tearing up. I have never seen him that emotional in my life. But in front of my parents, I just didn't feel like expressing anything. I just acted like KAY, IT AINT A BIG THING. But it really is a HUGE thing for me. I just waited for their emotions to settle, I went into my room and took my laptop to search the god's name to whom I did the ritual and started praying and crying. At that point, I just gave god the credit for my acceptance.
YES. I got into NTU. Hell, I even completed my first semester here at NTU. Oh well, I am studying MECHANICAL ENGINEERING with a second major in DATA ANALYTICS. I think this is my happy place. I just want to say one final thing. Time is the biggest problem as well as the biggest solution (at times the ONLY SOLUTION) in a lot of scenarios. Either you use it or you wait for it to use you. In my case, I failed to use but it used me when it wanted to. It may not be such a big accomplishment for many, but for a guy who let down his parents, who thought he wouldn't go to college that year, who basically lost interest in life cuz his dreams went down the drain... I should say that the guy is HAPPY right now ( I am the guy if you're wondering who).
From here on, I will try to post frequently. and it may not be about JEE every time, but my name still wud be JEEOURNEY, cuz that's where it all started!!!

Back & Neck Pain while Studying
Tumblr media
How many steps do you walk every day?
I walked very less. My routine for many days was to go downstairs, sit in the car, reach the office and sit there. Then come back home.
That was all the walking that I did. Almost similar was what happened during my JEE days. I did not walk. If I went to school or coaching, it was on the scooty. Backpain was bound to happen.
We live in the information age. We work on our table chair—it doesn't matter if you are a student, corporate employee, or entrepreneur. Do you think there was a similar lifestyle 20 years ago? For millions of years, we have been hunters and gatherers. We have not adapted to sitting all day long. Sitting is causing back pain.
Sadly for some students, even their breaks are indoors, sitting down on their chairs, playing games or consuming content. All of these daily atrocities on your back and neck are causing it pain. We torture our backs to study for long hours. But when back pains, we can't sit for long and can't study. I am providing you with some solutions for instant effects:
Know that the torture happens to your back, mostly when sitting. While standing or lying down, your back is mostly relaxed.
Stand straight when you do. Lie down in a straight and relaxed posture.
No matter what, most of your time is spent while sitting, so sitting posture should be correct too. Check your chair table. Your lower back should touch the chair, and your back should mostly be straight while studying. You can also put some books under your laptop to lift it up. This makes your neck straight and relaxed. (There are laptop stands in the market too). At all costs, prioritize posture.
Walk a lot until it heats up your body. I feel relaxation and heat in my back if I brisk walk for a few minutes. Make daily step goals of 7-10k steps. Just by this, I could eliminate back pain in 3 days.
Watch video lectures on a laptop/tv while lying down. This way, you relax your back and sit for long hours while solving questions.
Think of times when you mindlessly sit in the wrong posture. While using the phone, your neck and back are mostly in the wrong posture. Correct your posture wherever possible.
In your breaks, don't sit. Go out on a walk in a park/jungle. Trust me; it will solve most of your back problems.
If you have a swollen belly, you are putting extra stress on your back. Therefore, cut down on fast foods, and do intense physical activity.
Physical activity such as running, jogging, etc., warms up the body, removes stress, and increases focus. All of it increase your productivity manifold.
Take proper sleep. Sleeping properly will give your back enough rest.
Let us know what you think. Don't forget to share this with your friends who gonna need this.

PERSONAL OPINION
I have wanted to say this since a very long time. This is about my feelings towards ICSE/ISC and CBSE Board. Also, I feel it is important to point out that whatever I say is solely based on my experiences.
Nobody asked for this, but my advice to all the 10th graders especially for all of you from India would be to not change your board after you pass 10th. Seriously, do not change your board, no matter what others say. Having said that, if you feel that the teaching style of the teachers in your current school do not align well with how you learn, or if you have any other serious issues, only then should you change your board.
Keep reading to find out why. I am going to share few experiences of mine so bear with me.
I think, the board as well as the school that you are in plays a major role in shaping your attitude towards learning in general. The board decides all of the examination pattern and evaluation schemes which is experienced usually during high school and maybe towards the end of middle school. The environment of the school that you are in has a huge influence on everything about you, be it your thoughts, etiquette, academics or extra- curriculars.
I attended a pre school. After that, I spent 12 years of my school life starting from Nursery in one of the best schools of my city. (IMO IT IS THE BEST SCHOOL). Now, a lot of you might be thinking that the fees were probably very high. Let me tell you, this school has the lowest fees in my town among all the English medium schools. Everything in this school is top notch. It is an ICSE/ISC affiliated school. I have had the best time there. Yeah, during exams I have had stressful times as well, but let's face it, almost every student faces it in school and university.
I am the 2020 Batch of ICSE, which is the COVID batch. 3 to 4 of our Board exams were cancelled midway due to COVID. I used to take lessons from private tutors (one for the Science and Mathematics group and the other for English) before Boards for more practice. One of these tutors was a CBSE Board teacher, who since the moment we met, always told me to change my Board to CBSE after 10th. (There are few schools, where teachers are commissioned for bringing students to those schools, which I got to know later). I was literally brainwashed into believing that if I take Science in ISC then I will not be able to crack any of the competitive entrance examinations for different colleges. When I was a child, I had set my mind into attending 11th and 12th in that school as well. But, so you see how bad the situation had had to be in my mind that I at the last minute decided to change my board all of of this tutor? I fucking hate all of those people who make students believe they cannot crack any exams, cannot do well in Olympiads or anything similar if they do Science from ISC. My school even provides all of the Science students NCERTs along with ISC books so that they can prepare for these exams.
Anyway, after 10th somehow ended during the pandemic I had to change my usual plans and get admission into a CBSE board school in my city. I did it. I took PCMB. Two weeks into attending classes I realised what a blunder I had made. I went to one of those BSF/ARMY/AIR FORCE Schools. Not exactly revealing which place since people, if they know me irl, might understand this is me. These schools are known for having the best discipline. Or, at least I was under that impression due to the answers that I had read on few social media sites. Needless to say, I found the NCERT books to not be beginner friendly at all (except English). I knew few concepts since I had previously learned about them till 10th. Even then, I found the NCERTs to be not-so-good. Especially when I compare it with books of ICSE/ISC Board.
I am a student who learns better with reading books compared to watching videos. But, in this situation I had to watch videos to understand even the most basic concepts. The teacher at this school were not good, at least not for me. I had attended classes in person too, but even then I couldn't understand what they were trying to explain, especially the Physics and Chemistry teachers. There was no proper Mathematics teacher in the School in 11th. So, you can imagine what our condition was like. Also, the CBSE Board is just so fucking disorganised. They bring major changes at the last moment without any prior indication. Lots of unnecessary projects and assignments. I had the worst mental health possible just because of this and that led me to worsen my academics.
My style of learning is very well complimented by my school (the previous school I was in) and ICSE/ISC Board. I should have known better and listened to my parents and school teachers before changing my Board. Right now, because of my own bloody fault, I am forever going to stay with my overly shitty academic record of 11th and 12th Grades.
So, if anyone is reading this post and is in a position where they do not belong to a CBSE Board School but they wish to take the competitive exams, please do not let people fool you into thinking that CBSE is the only Board where you can crack these exams, because they cannot be more wrong. Yes, few exams, especially NEET UG nowadays focusses on NCERT. So, buy NCERTs if your school doesn't provide and read them after your concepts are clear. Focus on concept clarity first. That can only happen at the place where you understand things the best.
Also, in my personal opinion and my style of learning, ICSE/ISC and IB Boards are where you should go if you really want to learn (mugging up and learning are two often confused with each other but entirely different things).
If any State Board student is reading this, I am not much aware of the situation there, but I'm sure it's really good. There are talented people there as well.
