these are just some things that I think, but if you don’t agree that’s cool too - some of these may be self indulgent

you like to help him with cases- eventhough you’re not actually allowed

if you’re walking together arm-in-arm on the street and people don’t move out the way, you say something like “hey! watch it.” bc you hate the thought of them being so oblivious- but Matt loves it when you do that

always caressing you, loves your curves- arms, hips, legs, the lot

likes to trace over your nose bridge and lips

you got him to draw a small heart (it won’t be perfect but that’s the point) and you get it tattooed on yourself

This is decently specific to me: I have a younger dead sibling and idia is just i can relate just so hard to bc of that one fact, (gets out the idia journal) we were around the same age when our siblings died we think we both got them killed through harmless fun comments and just having someone so close to you as your younger sibling die at a young age kinda fucks with you and stuff idrk whats going on but something is

we both have social anxiety i don't think mine is as bad but if i had the option to just talk through a tablet i would, especially in certain situations where i'll freeze up (aka talking to any waiter ever) I genuinely a lot better when im there for someone else that has so we could have a symbiotic relationship for social situations

first of all holy shit im so sorry about what happened to your sibling. i totally get why you'd find him comforting because of that but Oh my gosh. im so sorry.

i think having social anxiety is something a lot of people can relate to with him, even myself. identity actually brought this up but seeing him being pushed into situations where he is ABSOLUTELY not comfortable makes me want to run in there and help him GET OUT. like i may not like this man that much but nobody should feel pressured or panic over entering a social situation they dont want to be a part of.

jipunk things I've been thinking about but I couldn't illustrate for a variety of reasons

streamer au -> minecraft?? au

idk this is rlly more of a crack au cause it's so unserious but I think I mentioned this some while ago but I forgor to add anything else onto it

the general idea is they're both streamers ahhayhah on a totally and definitely original streaming site called Switch hahaha so original hahaha

The both of them aren't overly popular but they have some form of reputation to their name cause for jia some of her stupid clips have gone viral (she does mostly gamer content 🎮💪🔥) where it's either her being real bad at the game or she's getting jumpscared and for hobie his content is a lot moreeee diverse I think, and he also streams a lot less than jia does cause it's just a side thing for him but some of his clips have gone viral for either music related reasons or it's something he's said (HES FUNNY IN A WAY YOU WOULDNT EXPECT KIND OF THING)

but I had this thought where it'd be kind of funny when he's streaming one day (one night tbh they both stream more at night) but he'd be on stream maybe playing his lil guitar and people just casually talking in the chat and suddenly they see the user 'oranjia' send a 'ALSMFNKS' and 'OWJDNJW' in the chat so ofc people who recognise her are all like ARIANA WHAT ARE U DOING HEREE and she gets clipped cause they're kind of two different streamers you'd never see interact

Idrk what happens next cause I haven't thought abt it but they'd probably suddenly have streams featuring the other and mostly gaming cause 🧍‍♂️how else do you collab stream idk

But also not at the same time cause idk the geography and history of England so I'm making shit up and making it MY version of England /jkjkjk but the idea is it's a chinatown

But I was thinking maybe like when he was a kid, he had gotten lost within the chinatown cos he randomly wandered in and it was getting dark and oh nooo I'm lost 😨😨 but wowww he bumps into this girl around his ageeee WONDER WHOOO

but she leads him out there and it's mostly jus them being sweet kids but they then don't see each other for a couple years cause 🤷 but jia grows up to be a singer in this theatre hall and hb ends up working??? Participating??? Idk he's involved with this newspaper company that's basically just. The spider society but in newspaper company form

And so one day he'd probably take a route thru the chinatown and spot her again in the big ass billboard and tbh idfk what happens next cause it's mostly just one sided pining bc he doesn't get to meet her for a good while till he bumps into her again 🤷🤷❓❓❓

i wish tumblr had circles lol

anyway we have a back room in our house that leads to the backyard and it’s mostly a storage room bc my mom is a borderline hoarder. last year the part of our roof over that room caved in during the rainy season and it’s been leaking and my dad put tarps over it and it stopped the leaking but he never told the landlord about the roof. well last week part of the ceiling fell in 🤪 so now my dad is frantic about telling the landlord and that back room is a mess bc it’s mostly storage and also the animals have messed up the carpet which i’m trying to fix but anyway the point is i was asking my dad if we would have to leave while it gets fixed and he said well the landlord might kick us out for letting it get this bad which i guess never really occurred to me before and probably is the reason he didn’t want to tell the landlord. well now they are really counting on me to buy a house for all of us bc i have good credit on account of living with my parents. and now i feel v stupid having spent the past year playing my silly games and writing my silly fics and getting so many commissions when i should have been idk looking at houses or making them clean that room so it could have been fixed and ive spent 30 mins crying about this bc idrk what to do and it’s embarrassing and i kinda sorta want to die but we persist. i guess. sorry.

i guess i'm sorry i can't derive more joy from representation, but i do not now and will never recognize word of god from Activision Blizzard, who have three canonical ages for the cowboy they had to rename after sexual assault allegations against his original namesake. like... they couldn't write their way out of a paper bag.

i categorically refuse to take ovw seriously. i hold up each character and i weigh them against a feather & what i determine is between me, god, and anyone who deigns to read my tags. i understand if you don't want to be counted among them & i wish you well.

what was the end game here? did you want me to reword my opinion to be less ambiguous? "i have always thought of pharah as bisexual, and do not respect blizzard in any capacity, so i will not be adjusting that opinion even though it would afford me direct representation". is this clearer/less hurtful to you?

like you shouldn't be looking to the global paramilitary hired guns for representation of any kind imo (except beloved gorilla), but if my long-standing headcanons about a game i don't even play anymore matter that much to you then like... i don't really know what to say. what stings? why? is there something about that feeling that's more tangible, or accessible, when it's caused by my tags? to me it seems like salt in a deeper wound, & i can't help address either in the course of one ask.

i guess to answer your question... yeah, we can not say that. i never said it in the first place, because it's nonsense. i'm not very into my ovw headcanons at all, as i now regard the franchise with something between ambivalence and disgust, depending on the news cycle. i guess it was kind of a joke bc i was claiming to understand blizzard's characters better than them, but i do think of pharah as bi & nobody is going to sway me on that. could see ace, maybe. but also it's barely a joke bc i really don't think they understand their characters so much as use them to deflect valid criticisms, and like... at least the versions in my head are consistent

Omg thank you so much for asking 🥺🥺🥺 sorry if I don’t get to this ASAP I’m on a film set rn but lemme see if I can recap briefly- edit: i started writing this like two weeks ago, exited out of the ap, and now i have to rewrite it all oops lol

OKAY (under the readmore):

All the main five meet at the same time! In the beginning, Al’s a ghost and Lupa’s been living on her own for a while. They start out on somewhat rocky footing, with Al disapproving of a lot of what Lupa does and Lupa brushing Al’s opinions off. They view the world in such completely different ways that they have no choice but to clash tbh. Al is scared at how unbothered and rough Lupa is, and Lupa hates how much Al stresses responsibility and moral obligation. Of course, at their cores, Lupa is actually very hurt and alone and Al is (very badly) repressing like a million desires and emotions, one of those being an extremely frustrating and all-consuming crush on the werewolf girl.

I don’t know how much I want to spoil tbh but to try and condense it: They find some common ground and an affection for each other during the first season, bordering on potential romantic interest. Unfortunately, they’re separated rather traumatically. Lupa believes Al has died (for good this time), and Al leaves Lupa convincing herself that it’s best she not know the truth. They find other about 6 months later (second season), each having “moved on” (hint: not really). There’s a lot of pent-up resentment for a while, along with some genuine efforts at friendship, but it feels like it’ll never be the right moment, so they’re stuck in this kind of settled state. It’s not until Lupa breaks up with Buster that her own feelings for Al sneak up and like. fuckin sucker punch her. Al still has her own yearning, but she’s matured to the point where being around Lupa doesn’t make her feel like she’s about to have a nervous breakdown at any given second. this time around, it’s Lupa’s hot mess summer. and idrk how to surmise the third season because both of them are really just playing a stomach-lurching game of tug o war, where they feel so much for the other it makes them sick, but they also try to avoid it, but they also know they’d do anything for each other, and maybe it’s best to leave it at that?

so like, duh, they sleep with each other bc they’re both 20-somethings and painfully in love. and then they swear they won’t do it again, and of course that’s impossible. it’s a case of “this is a very bad idea. i love you too much to do this to you.” and then immediately breaking that promise. through this they’re also carrying each other through fights with a terrifying wannabe god (villain of s3), and their own individual struggles with monsterhood.

the thing that solidifies their bond is simply the fact that they can, throughout it all, be themselves with each other. when they’re together it feels like they actually exist as people in that moment, and no part of them is denied. they allow each other rage and grief and hate and all the nasty stuff; there’s a total understanding between them. it’s a little addictive to be so unashamed, essentially. so they do get together, after these years of change and tumult and hard-wrought argument ironed into genuine friendship and a sort of roaring, aching care for the other. in the end, it’s still Al and Lupa, annoying the shit out of each other, but they wouldn’t want it with anyone else.

you know the poem about the tiger that breaks from the cage? do you know what it means to want to be another person just hold them from the inside? like how death doesn’t stop us from loving other people, but in fact makes it possible to love this way in the first place. that’s the relationship between al and lupa. anyways i like them a lot here’s their playlist goodbye <3

Favorite subject but i try to study it where i can. Its important. Mobile gave me bronya finally so its goin well & seele is coming back in 1.4 so maybe ill be able to get her & bronya both. Well, my degree is in Psychology, and while business has never been my area of interest, marketing is the only area I’ve begun taking a slight interest in since it’s just the psychology of figuring out how to get people to buy/spend money on a specific product… I‘ve realized I just like to understand how people think lol. And gaming, tech, music, makeup are all just things that interest me. Music is pretty low on the list though bc I can’t imagine having to market an artist’s music that I don’t enjoy at all 😅

As for gaming, I grew up playing loads of video games, mostly jrpgs on consoles, but my little brother is big into league so I’m not as put off by it since I love him lol. Given that Wonwoo is my ult, and clearly you bias him as well, I’d say we’re similar in being attracted to sweet handsome nerds. Manifesting that for both of us! - 🍃🧋

Idrk what “buffer is suffering” is but i hope ur okay and well always!!! Ty for this blog i read it like a mornings newspaper everyday its so fun lol. Bc i feel like it would be more fun to analyze the media i consume I wanted to ask how you analyze things in stories, do some things just naturally peak ur interest so you try and pick at them? Or do you actively try and find quirks about certain characters and worlds ? Ty again i really do appreciate ur blog

I usually have a queue that’s 1-3 chapters ahead of what you see. Right now I have 3 posts left, hence the suffering buffer.

As for the analysis, I guess it’s something I have life long practice with. My mom was a teacher who paid a penny a page for reading books, and then would always ask me what I thought the author was trying to tell me with their story. Imagine a middle schooler trying to put into words why I thought the last Lemony Snicket book was the both the most profound and frustrating thing I’d ever read.

So I guess that’s always my starting question: What is the author trying to communicate? What is Oda trying to say when he has panels of Usopp and Luffy facing opposite directions? Why did he put that panel of the Straw Hat’s flag there? What does all these masks have to do with the story being told? What was Oda trying to say? Was he successful, and if so, why? If not, why?

(Incidentally, I’m not a big fan of Death of the Author. I think there are reader interpretations that are objectively, factually, wrong.)

Fast forward a couple years and I stumbled across a wonderful little Twilight hate blog @reasoningwithvampires that sadly never made it completely through the series but nevertheless absolutely dismantled the first 2 1/2 books almost sentence by sentence. It cannot be overstated how much that blog helped me as someone who was just starting to write fanfic, both on a grammatical and story level.

Seriously, I never took any English classes in college, but my exit score for English were 15 points higher than my entrance score because of this blog. If you want to know how commas work, go check it out.

It also taught me the real value of that sort of comprehensive analysis of a work, even the reason that analysis existed was hate. Around that time I started writing up my own, more topical, meta posts, and it was when doing research for one of those posts I really noticed for the first time all the cool details Oda put into Dr. Kureha’s castle in Drum. That sparked the question: What other cool details had Oda put into the series?

And thus, opbackgrounds was born.

I maintain that anyone can do this kind of analysis, but it does take time and practice. Then again, I’m also the kind of person who likes listening to 12 hour YouTube videos analyzing a video game Ive never played, so maybe I’m just wired that way.

In any case, I’m familiar enough with One Piece that I already know a lot of the important themes and moments ahead of time. Once you know the big picture, it frees you up to look for the paint strokes that make up that picture. It’s seeing the whole, and then dismantling it to its individual parts.

You read a thing once to enjoy it, and twice to understand it. This blog is me trying to understand One Piece

After a long hard day at your job, a few minutes before you were done for the day a customer at the store you worked at decided to spill coffee all over you. Now of course this wasn’t their fault in the slightest but on top of the stress from your job it was too much and you let yourself off of work a few minutes early. You checked your notifications and realized your boyfriend, kenma kozume (@/kodzuken) and popular game streamer was streaming and wouldn’t be able to hold you when you got home.

You screamed in frustration in your car as you drove away, angry at the bad luck you’ve been facing today. You check to see if kenma maybe got off stream early and give him a call, but it rings a couple times and goes straight to voicemail. You accept defeat and continue driving, until out of nowhere it starts pouring rain outside.

“Why goddamnit! Of all days I had to not bring an umbrella today was the day,” you mutter as you put up your windshield wipers, hoping the rain would go away by the time you got home. It didn’t. After you finally pull up to your flat in Tokyo, you run, taking all of your stuff through the pouring rain making sure to lock your car. Once you hop into the elevator and wait until it stops at your level (sry if this isn’t accurate lmao I’m not rich 💀) you try to pat yourself dry.

“Y/n, get it together,” you say shivering, hoping that kenmas stream wouldn’t see you as you haven’t been shown on camera yet. Not that your boyfriend is ashamed of you, no, quite the opposite. He knows that some of his fans can be a little, overwhelming to say the least, and would rather keep you away from death threats and bullying online. The elevator finally dings and stops at your flat where you collect your stuff and get into the place you call home. Unable to tell kenma you’re home like you normally do you shoot him a quick text:

After heading over to your shared bedroom and changing into one of his hoodies and sweats, you plop down on the couch and check your phone, seeing a video on TikTok. Apparently it’s a trend to go over and cuddle your s/o while they’re gaming and your bf is a streamer/gamer so you think you should try it on him. Remembering that he has a copy of his stream and you can ask for the footage later, you decide to act now, think later. Surges of adrenaline hitting you in waves, your legs decide to have a mind of their own as you make your way to his gaming room.

Doing a quick knock so that he isn’t so suprised and so you won’t chicken out, you tell him, “bub, I’m coming in ok?” in the most innocent tone you can muster, and open his door, finding him staring at you. No, gaping at you as you make your way over to him looking at his paused video game and the stream chat moving so fast you can only make out a couple words. Some of which being “s/o, lying, sibling, and banana.” Wait maybe that last one wasn’t quite right but you get the point and are shocked at the effect you have. He moved his microphone away from his mouth although its a futile attempt as the high quality technology of his headset picks up the conversation just as easily.

“Kitten what are you doing here? I thought you wouldn’t be home for a couple more minutes and you know how I feel about your face being shown on cams,” the last part sounding very possesive but protective on your end.

Realizing that although you tell yourself it’s just for a TikTok, you didn’t need to lie when giving him a reason and you really do want cuddles. “I’m sorry bub I was just having a bad day at work so I came home a little early and I wanted cuddles. “Fine,” he grits out with no malice and you can tell it didn’t take much to get him to agree. As he moves his microphone back to where it was, you climb onto his lap, straddling his waist, as you wrap your arms around the nape of his neck. “Everyone, meet my... s/o y/n,” he tells the stream while chat goes crazy and you start to get comfy. “We’ve been dating for 3 years now and I haven’t shown their face or revealed I had a s/o because I didn’t want them to receive hate. That being said, now that you all know who they are, please treat them with respect and kindness. They make me really happy,” he says looking at you lovingly as you turn your head to meet his gaze at his words. You blush and turn away, busying yourself with putting his hair back up into a low bun and familiarizing yourself with his steady heartbeat as you cuddle him, slowly falling asleep in his lap.

Kenmas pov: (ahaha bet you weren’t expecting that one)

Now that the stream had ended and I finished my game, winning of course, I was getting sleepy as well, y/n already fast asleep in my lap before I even got 15 kills.

I pick her up watching her snore slightly and drool a little thinking they were the most precious thing ever. As I walk over to our room, careful not to wake them, I murmur subconsciously, “I love you so much baby” not expecting them to repeat the same thing to me in their sleep. When I finally reach our room I lay them down carefully, making sure they wouldn’t wake up as I went to brush my teeth and get ready for bed.

After I finished with hygiene (that’s important kids 😀) and changed into pajamas, I tiptoed back to our bed tucking us both in and cuddling with them, already half asleep.
