call it controversial, I'm speaking my mind and if you don’t agree with me then so be it, atp idc what ppl may think about my opinion on this matter but as someone who views mike wheeler as a closeted gay person, meaning mlm, he is a boy who likes other boys and that’s it then I’m also someone who believes mike has never had actual romantic feelings for el at ANY point in the show. I don’t sit around and harass people who believe otherwise.

mike is not even the FIRST person to show el kindness once she escaped the lab, it’s benny hammond. mike is the second person to truly show el some kindness and basic human decency by allowing her into his home and getting her clean, dry clothes. it’s something I hope anyone would do for anyone in that sort of situation BUT don’t forget it’s also mike’s idea to “send her back to pennhurst or wherever she came from” and comes up with the plan on the spot right then and there to have her go out the back door and knock on the front door and his mom will figure out what to do. they never had any plans on keeping el around until they found out she knew who will was, that he was alive and that she had fucking superpowers. I get kinda sick of ppl trying to twist this around. this is factual, it’s not some anti-m1leve3n thing ppl made up, it is canon. to say mike never wanted to get rid of el at first is just a straight up lie, his main priority was finding will, but he wasn’t going to be an asshole and leave a girl outside in the pouring rain.

all mike cares about in s1 is finding will. I find it odd that some ppl don’t believe this, whether you think he could have grew a crush on el or not. he literally starts to disassociate, begs to help look for him, sneaks out of his home at night, bikes home and sobs into his moms arms when he thinks will is dead, is outright RUDE to el afterwards until she proves that will is still alive.

both Lucas and Nancy say things that try to allude to mike liking el, which literally has nothing to fucking do with the plot of s1 AT ALL and they literally have no scenes that I can genuinely go back and look at and be like “aww that's so cute and romantic, I hope they’ll kiss and end up together”

their kiss was never scripted and it wasn’t even meant to happen, it was something millie suggested and its funny that they chose to do it right after she asks if mike will be like her fucking BROTHER and he goes “no, well, I guess it’s sort of the same” like my brother in christ in what world is a date/boyfriend the same as a brother? he’s not stupid, even 12 year olds know the difference between a brother and a boyfriend. I genuinely think it’s because mike has never CARED about that sort of thing before, because he’s just a kid who wants to play games with his friends, uninterested in girls and dating in general.

so, when I say that mike unintentionally uses el as his “beard” it’s not meant to be insulting towards el, because el is also using mike to try and be a normal girl. they are both just trying to be normal when both of them know they AREN’T.

el is the first girl not immediately grossed out by mike, it’s because she doesn’t view him as anything other than a person, she’s not thinking about him romantically at all, she’s a 12 yr old girl that just escaped being in a scientific lab her whole life, romance isn’t going to be on the forefront of her mind, she probably doesn’t even know wtf romantic love even is. you think they’re showing Casablanca in the Hawkins national lab? I don’t think so.

s2 shows mikes lack of interest in girls even more, and ppl using the reasoning that its because he “loves el” like idk how to tell you this, he knew her FOR ONE WEEK and she barely spoke the entire time and mike was focused on will all of s1. be so for real. really. his lack of interest in girls comes in the form of things more subtle like the dragons lair scene, which has mike and will off to the side, blank faced as dustin and lucas sort of duel for princess daphne. then there’s more upfront moments like mike being completely uninterested in max, while even will seems to be at least a little curious about her (ofc not romantically like dustin and lucas)

don't even get me started on mikes monologue to will in s2 being 10x more romantic than mike’s “love confession” monologue in s4 which fell flat on 90% of the audience (on purpose, I see u duffers)

the snowball scene isn’t meant to be a romantic scene for m1lev3n but it gets interpreted as one because of they way they film it, and it’s literally done that way ON PURPOSE. they are tricking you, me, the entire audience into believing mike is so upset because el isn’t there. but his reactions to will getting asked to dance and afterwards (with dustin also being upset over Lucas and max) are clear. then they show us Nancy asking dustin to dance along with el showing up to the snowball to dance with mike?

The ending of s2 solidified mike using el as a cover for his queerness, to be normal, because he was aware that he was DIFFERENT. this is why m1lev3n is so insufferable to people in s3 because its written to be insufferable. they don’t want you to like it. to finally see mike and el as a couple? it’s annoying, ppl don’t like it, the characters themselves are over it and even el herself.

then there’s will and mikes fight scene which is 10x more breakup coded than m1lev3ns ACTUAL breakup? bro had mike sobbing and throwing up as he biked across town in the pouring rain to apologize, meanwhile all mike did was eat Doritos and burp while complaining abt el breaking up with him, calling her a different species and such. he didn’t actually care deep down, it was more annoying and frustrating that she broke up with him than emotional because he didn’t love her romantically, he’s just mad that he lost his cover that keeps him appearing as normal as possible.

the ending of s3 solidifies to me that el is ALSO using mike to be and feel normal, because they’d been broken up for months at this point and she suddenly feels the need to kiss him and tell him she loves him too? while mike literally tries to avoid remembering the shit he said earlier in the season, because he didn’t mean it and if he did, he wouldn’t have acted the way he fucking did in s4. BFFR. el only wanted mike back because she lost hopper.

hoppers letter is meant to be familiar love between el and hopper and it’s meant to allude to the growing romantic tension between mike and will as well, in stranger things, there’s double, triple, quadruple meanings to everything and this is one of them. mike KNOWS he does not love el, he knows this in s2, he knows this during s3, he knows this coming into s4. mike is desperate to not lose her as his cover because as much as mike is “himself” back in Hawkins, he still can’t stop thinking about will because Hawkins isn’t the same without him. he knows he’s thinking about will too much, that he worries about el so much because he’s unable to face his true feelings that he has for will and not her and mike believes that el genuinely loves him (she doesn’t).

this brings me to believe their official split is going to be a lot more mutual than ppl believe. el has come to terms that her and mike are over during nina, I believe el suspects/knows that mike is gay/likes will. their sbp talk paralleling jack and joey from Dawsons creek is almost too spot on for it not to mean something, especially to know will still pining and jealous over them right after it.

in conclusion, im tired of pretending I ever thought mike and el were ever a cute ship, they weren’t. there was no spark between them for me and many others. it was like they were being forced into my face and I think the duffers did this with so much intention. not only did they straightbait robin and steve so well, but them “shoving” a straight ship into our face in the way mainstreams shows get criticized by homophobes for gay ships. it’s no wonder one of their favorite shows is Dawsons creek.

mike wheeler is gay and never liked el. el hopper got caught up in mike’s internal conflict and also latched onto him for a sense of security and to feel like a normal teenage girl.

like yeah eat the rich and all but boy literally was telling fizz he’s the best thing to ever happen to him in his ~6000 years of living. like picture finally having the one thing you never thought you could/should/would, then losing it (even if for valid reasons), and being implicitly/explicitly told you shouldn’t do the thing you never thought you’d do that brought you happiness because of how you exist. doubly so if lilith/sarah are canon. like a pandora’s box. he could never go back to feeling how he did pre-fizz love again.

idk man ain’t perfect and no one’s owed anything including a relationship, but that’s my big hurdle right now regarding blitzfizz. guy seems so happy, but fizz doesn’t always. stolas can choke tho idc about his feelings

God the way people baby this man. One fanfic/AU and everyone wants my head lol. This is all reminding me of how Edward used to be talking about Bella. It’s the same way for Stolas. There’s no happy ending here no matter which way it goes.

Having your first love ripped away by tragic circumstances and kept apart by lies is fine if they’re both imps, but a rich person having to part with their first crush?? Unthinkable. They’ll literally explode and die without them. I just don’t get why rich sheltered characters get so much more gentleness and extra care.

As it stands those two Goetia are basically stans of the two imps with no life outside of them, isolating themselves from the people who’ve always been there for them by ignoring or causing animosity with them, all for the sake of their obsessive secret sex buddy or partner….that’s romance?

How is this show claiming to be in the maturity level of Bojack when you guys can’t even handle a Diane and Mr Peanutbutter level of breakup? You feel that way, because his character is just being obsessed with Fizz. His life spins entirely around him and around sex he’s painfully one dimensional. Also he’s a tragic character no matter when and how they separate. They can’t break up because Oz will cry and cry and never stop crying forever. Doesn’t the fact it’s all based on a lie bother anyone? This is clearly some type of setup going on.

Being implicitly explicitly told that—-stop right there because. False. There is no ‘you should never have that’ Love changes you and just because you break up with your favourite performer doesn’t mean “oh I can never ever love ever again” like damn.

I don’t even think this has anything to do with blitzfizz or shipping in general I wouldn’t even mind if Fizz stayed single at the end as long as he was happy again and his world was more than his sugar daddy.

Some ST Headcanons of Mine <3

- Max let’s Lucas braid her hair sometimes even if he’s bad at it

- Steve and Jonathan secretly call each other but hang up before either one can talk because they are too afraid to say they kinda miss having the other around ( Joyce is the only one that knows and thinks it’s funny )

- Mike secretly thinks Max is the coolest person he’s ever met ( besides Will & El ofc )

- Robin has a key to Steve’s house and let’s herself in with no notice whatsoever as if she lives there

- Dustin also has a key ( he stole Robin’s and got one copied for everyone )

- Moms approach Steve all the time asking him to babysit and he’s just so confused because why are they doing that?? ( as if he doesn’t parade around town with at least 1 of 7 children at all times )

- Max has a seashell from California that she puts up to her ear every night before going to bed because it reminds her of her dad :(

- Lucas pretends to hate having Erica around all the time but is actually relieved because he knows she’s safe when she’s with him and his friends

- Steve has showed up to all of Lucas’s games in hopes that he would get to see him play ( He was SO proud when he scored the winning shot )

- Max listens to all of Lucas’s games

- El and Lucas have a weekly call where they catch one another up on everything and gossip about drama and their friends

- When Will misses home he calls Dustin so they can talk about dnd :(

- Nancy takes Max shopping every couple of weeks to help get her out of the house and take her mind off things

- Max thinks Nancy is the coolest person in the world and actually looks up to her a lot

- Steve picks the boys up after every dnd session because a small part of him is always going to be worried abt the upside down and he can’t stand the idea of anything bad happening to them

- Jonathan has several letters he’s written to Nancy over the last 8 months that he’ll never send ( some are break up letters that he can’t bring himself to send because he just loves her so much but he knows he can’t go with her to college )

- When El misses home Jonathan let’s her go through all the pictures he’s taken of everyone over the years to make her feel better ( Her favourite is the one of her and Max making silly faces behind the boys )

- Will and El have weekly movie nights

- Argyle helps El with her English homework after school and is surprisingly really good at it

- Dustin secretly LOVES cats- he was devastated when Dart ate Mews but he wanted to look brave in front of Steve

- Steve knew he was devastated which is why he bought Dustin’s mom a new cat ( This is literally canon idc- he got Claudia that cat and I’ll die on this hill )

- Jonathan is secretly an ABBA lover ( His favourite is Take A Chance On Me because it reminds him of how he felt when he first fell in love with Nancy )

- One time when everyone was in The Wheeler’s basement Don’t Stop by Fleetwood Mac came on and everyone danced and sang horribly off key to it ( Jonathan and Mike tried their hardest to stay out of it but Nancy outright refused this and made them join in )

- Will is the personalized gift giver of the group… he spends so much time making everyone the sweetest and most personal gifts ( Max cried when she first got one )

- When Max is avoiding Lucas and Will is avoiding Mike they’ll hide out at each other’s houses because the party doesn’t think they are that close ( They are actually best friends they told me themselves )

- Steve thinks Robin is the best friend he’ll ever have

- Robin thinks the same

- When El and Will moved away Max convinced the party to make them a going away present- it was a box filled with comics, pictures, letters and small things that would remind the two of them of everyone ( Max gave it to Jonathan and told him to hide it until they got to California- the two cried when they opened it )

- Steve called The Byers residence the night before they moved and apologized for not being able to be there when they left but thanked them for giving him a second chance

- El has the pictures of her and Max from the mall hung up on her wall in frames that Will decorated for her

- Mike makes Max tell him all about her day at the mall with El whenever he misses her knowing it was one of the happiest days of her life

- Mike also pretends to think Max is a bad influence on El but has actually come to the conclusion that she’s probably the best person for El to be around because she’s the one person who helped El truly become her own person instead of a shell of what other people wanted her to be

- Eddie thinks Max is the coolest out of the kids ( He loves Dustin the most tho )

- Mike cried after his fight with Will, he hates it when he screws things up like that but sometimes ( most of the time ) his mouth moves faster than his brain and he can’t help what he says

- Lucas has a box under his bed filled of pictures with Max and love letters he’s written to her but never given to her ( Erica found it and now threatens to expose Lucas whenever he won’t do what she wants him to do )

- She thinks it’s really sweet though and absolutely adores Max ( Lucas was horrified when they first met because within the first twenty seconds they had already started conspiring against him )

- Eddie secretly feeds the dog outside ( Him and Max ran into each other once and he lent her his favourite mix after deciding she was a pretty alright kid )

- She gave him one back and he was absolutely horrified that he was actually super into Kate Bush ( Max knows this but refused to tell another soul )

- Dustin was the most hurt when Max shut herself away from everyone, it made him feel like he wasn’t doing enough as a friend

- In her letter to him she assures him that there was nothing else he could have done and that she was tired of feeling like she was bringing them down with her and figured they were better off without her

- Dustin cried so hard after reading his letter before he was hit with a violent wave of anger, cursing Vecna for taking away two of his best friends in such a cruel and unforgiving way

- Steve gave Dustin Eddie’s vest

- Nancy knows it was El that brought Max back but hasn’t said anything about it

- Robin calls Nancy every night before bed after Vecna to make sure she’s alright

- Nancy calls Robin every morning after she wakes up to make sure her nightmares weren’t too bad

- The moms try and give Steve money for stuff like gas and snacks but he always refuses because he takes care of the kids because he loves them and not because it’s an obligation

- Karen still manages to slip him some money every once in a while ( Mike literally just throws it somewhere in his car and leaves him to find it )

- Nancy thinks it’s funny that most of the town sees her as some pretty princess that lives in her own little world when in all reality she’s out fighting inter dimensional monsters, saving the town every other day and owns several different guns

- Steve and Nancy take turns driving the kids to the hospital to visit Max

- Steve read his letter from Max out loud to her before bursting into tears. It was the first time any of them had seen him cry ( excluding Nancy and Robin )

- Steve feels extremely guilty and at fault when anything bad happens to anyone- Robin is the only one who knows how horrible he feels about Max and Eddie ( She held him as he cried and softly reassured that he did everything he could have done given the circumstances)

- That doesn’t stop him from blaming himself for what happened

- Mike is fully prepared to fight Lonnie if he so much as looks at Will, Jonathan or Joyce the wrong way ( This is the first time Hopper has been in full agreement with Mike )

- Lucas finds a box in Max’s room filled with pictures of the two of them and notes he never received ( He breaks down and has to call Steve to come get him )

- One Christmas the kids all come together to get Steve his own Walkie-talkie ( it’s always on and set to their channel in case there’s a code red )

- Nancy’s not sure if she was jealous of Robin or if she was jealous of Steve when she thought the two of them were together ( Ronance <3 )

- Will hasn’t played dnd since he left Hawkins

- Jonathan doesn’t take as many pictures anymore ( he’s been so distant from everyone and everything he loves for the last 8 months )

- Dustin thanks the universe everyday for sending Steve his way ( he really does love him so much and sees him as an older brother <3 )

- Lucas misses Will the most ( he would have somehow convinced Eddie to move dnd and then forced them all to go to Lucas’s game )

- Mike wanted to call Nancy after his fight with El because he knows she’s the only person that understands why it’s so hard for him to say he loves someone

- If they can’t find Susan or any other member of Max’s family Steve fully intends to legally adopt her ( Even if it means sacrificing his pride and going to work for his dad so he can afford it )

- Mike goes to visit Max when no one else is there because he doesn’t want anyone to know how guilty he feels ( He cries every time he sits there and talks to her, silently praying that she’ll wake up and he’ll get another chance to be her friend )

- Steve calls Joyce or Karen when he needs some sort of motherly guidance ( The two treat him like one of their own )

- Robin and Jonathan actually get along really well despite their clashing opinions on Steve ( They are also Will’s biggest protectors )

- Steve redecorated the guest room that’s across his bedroom for the kids ( His Father was furious but his mother couldn’t help but be proud that her son cared so much for the kids )

- He never really talks about it but his relationship with his parents really messed him up which is why he makes sure he’s a stable figure in the kids life ( It means the world to Dustin, Max, El and Mike because Steve really had nothing to do with the upside down but he sticks around regardless and is constantly jumping head first into danger for them )

- Erica always calls Robin after she has a nightmare about the Russians ( Robin always takes her out for ice cream the next day )

- Everyone thinks Lucas’s favourite memory with Max is when they first kissed but it’s actually the night on top of the bus because he knew he made her feel safe and at home in Hawkins

- Robin and Dustin have grown to hate Fast Times but they still watch it once a month because it’s one of Steve’s favourite

- Writing Steve’s letter hurt Max the most because it was everything she wanted to say but never could and he would only know how much she truly cared about him if she died

- After Eddie died Dustin started sleeping over a Steve’s house a lot more

- Max thinks Steve is the best person she knows. The comfort and safety she feels with him is one she’s only ever felt with her dad before.

- The older teens love all the kids but they all have their favourites! Steve’s are Dustin, Max and Lucas, Nancy’s are Mike, El and Dustin, Jonathan’s are Will, El and Mike, Eddie’s are Dustin and Max and Robin’s are Erica, Lucas, Dustin and Max ( and eventually Will )

- Dustin is very loved by the older teens!

- They never say it enough but they all love each other so much and despite how they all came together they are eternally grateful that the universe threw them all together as one big ( Hopefully one day- happy ) Family.

Anyways these are just a handful of headcanons I have! The overall message is that they all love each other very much <3

ok ok so i absolutely need to talk about hanpunk’s first impression because because because

IT’S JUST SO FUNNY HOW THEY THINK SO DIFFERENTLY ABOUT EACH OTHER

just so yk that all the things below are head canons so don’t hate me 😬

lihan’s first impression of hobie:

after going on a mission with him, she literally dislikes him LMFAO

I’M NOT EVEN JK SHE’S HELLA PISSED OF HIM LIKE-

she realizes in that moment that she can’t even stand being in the same room with that guy or she’ll explode, especially due to their differences ; personality, beliefs, way of thinking.. they’re just different in every single way possible.

she’s just like that one scene in atsv where hobie introduces himself amd miles goes “this guy is killing me.” IT’S LITERALLY HER IN THAT MOMENT TOO. SHE HAD THE SAME IMPRESSION OF HOBIE LIKE MILES DID AT FIRST

but it’s nothing about jealousy or anything but just because they’re so different.

she also thinks that at some point, he’s not really responsible since hobie is a guy who likes to do things his way and if it doesn’t go the way he wants it he just won’t do it.

though he’s part of the SS and works under miguel, yall know how pissed miguel was just seeing him; lihan feels the same 💀

she doesn’t specifically hates him ?? she just thinks that they would never really get along and thinking of it, she’s kind of close minded since the universe she lives in is very conservative and close minded as well so she’s not very used with new things and automatically thinks if someone is very different to her, they’ll never get along.

but overall, she just doesn’t want to be associated with him or get involved with him in anything at all, she just doesn’t like him 😭

hobie’s first impression of lihan:

actually,

he had no specific thoughts or any opinion about her 😭

i don’t think he’s the type to really care about what people think about him and he probably isn’t interested in people in the first place, nor does he judge people’s first impression

i kind of feel like he doesn’t really believe in “first impression” things because it’s what your gut tells you about a person but it can turn out to be wrong so he stays neutral abt it ykwim ?

no? okay. 😔

also since this man is just ginormous, he’d literally see anybody smaller than him as cute even when there aren’t much height differences and since he’s tall asf he just loves to take this as an advantage to mess with people.

if you’re smaller than him he’d DEFINITELY make fun of how small you are just because he’s a gigantic twig 😰

so yeah, that’s kinda how he sees lihan when she gets mad at him and starts yelling at him, slapping his back (literally like asian moms idc). he’s just having a blast bc it looks like she’s overreacting/dramatizing.

and after going on that first mission together, he thought he could make her loosen up a bit and be silly as usual since she was all tensed and angry that day, thinking she was just stressed being new at the HQ.

so him actually saying hi and trying to interact with her was actually an act of kindness, so she won’t really feel alone and he could help her adapt here to socialize with other spider people (sobbing so hard rn they are so freaking adorable💔).

but ofc doing that only made her even more angry

and ngl,

he enjoys seeing her like that.

it’s just hilarious to him that when she’s actually mad, she doesn’t do or say anything. she just stays silent and is wayyy calmer than when she’s just pissed and would just walk away from him. the only emotion she really can’t hide is anger. it’s literally written on her face and you can see the anger boiling inside of her which hobie loves to see that because it’s so unlike her to not keep her calm.

anw, he doesn’t really have a strong opinion on her like she has on him.

he’s literally chill with anybody whether they like him or not, he doesn’t get bothered or uncomfortable by that he’s really indifferent to her. (he’s the standard yall.)

the only opinion he has on her is that he definitely finds her funny in general and especially when she gets mad bc he likes to get a reaction out of her and that’s literally it. she’s literally his favorite comedian 😭

here’s my list of all my favorite death note ships and y I like them

lawlight: I feel like there’s nothing to say here bc it’s so obvious??? Like they’re so obviously gay and who doesn’t love seeing them be silly gay rivals?? I do think in a canon where L didn’t die they would be end game but idk how we’d go abt it *except* for like just serving time and giving up being Kira and then L and light become a thing (7/10 ship)

Lawlightmane: Shakaoshshhdkd I luvvvv this one bc I luv miss being happy and I also luvvvvvvv poly representation, however I do see light as almost strictly mlm or masculine attracted so I think his and misa’s relationship would be more like “she’s a best friend I wanna protect and keep happy so what better way to do that than being (one of) her bf 🥰” like i think it would be mainly if not only platonic attraction on his side for misa, idk I can just never rlly see light w a girl, anyways I think in all other directions it would be fun and everyone would luv each other and it would be so cute (9/10 ship)

mellodramattic: once again I feel like there’s little to say bc it’s so obvious?? But they’re so cute and I luvv em and I luvv seeing em happy, although I do think they will get w other ppl for fun, I’m not sure if they do it together or if they find sumone one on one, yk however they want to be in their open relationship. I think they both know they want each other more than anything, and I think Matt gets protective of Mello and I think mello probably gets jealous, but they do still work it out and have fun w other ppl as a small thing (10/10 SHIP BBY)

lawtsuda: I luvvv lawtsuda I think it’s so so so cute and I think they’re both just silly lil ace neurodivergent bois who get each other and luv each other, they’re just bois being bois n they luv it and I luv seeing it (8/10 ship but i dont think they’re more canon than lawlight)

mikalight: I think mikalight exists in the canon where L does die, I think he’s almost a dream replacement of L for light. I mean they’re very similar, the black shaggy hair and the sharp attractive figure the strong sense of justice and the (mainly) monotone voice and their grip on controlling their emotions their smarts etc etc, I think mikami is a version of L that light at sum point or another wanted and yet at sum point he realizes he liked all of those qualities on L bc L challenged light w them and light eventually ends up luving mikami for mikami. he still finds mikami to be his type even if he can be a bit of a sad reminder of his dead luv L, but they’ll still grow old together in a nice house (or cell depends on how u see Kira’s reign ending) (8/10)

Loves that you are independent, he likes being there for you don't get me wrong, but.. he's a busy turtle, if you cant handle yourself once in a while, that might be a deal breaker for him. Chivalry is kinda big for him tho, so let him treat you when he can, he likes to woo you sometimes so just let him lol

Ok so i know Raph is like, the gym king or whatever but if you ever briefly mention you would like to use it the one the boys have around the lair, he will "randomly"show up there, Raph will def tease him if he tries to help you out on a machine that you and Raph combined know way more than he ever could lmao. He does asks you if you would like to join him into his training sections at the dojo, he's way more comfortable in there and he swears is not as stinky as their gym after Raph uses it, really looks forward to the day you accept his invitation into teaching you some self defense moves here and there

Ok you didnt mention this like...he loves how you always reply REALLY FAST!! like at first he's taken back cuz? usually april or casey take a few good minutes even hours to respond, humans have their things to do on topside and he gets it you know? he's also relatively busy most days, so when he almost automatically gets a reply from you, Leo def got surprised on the first chats he had with you, he begins to love it how fast you can come back to him with texting, he doesnt have to worry if you are in danger after escorting you to your home, or when you are leaving college, work, yadda yadda, he knows its not extremely healthy to be on your phone 24/7 but when you are away from him, he loves it he can have almost imidiate contact with you

Over-all: Really chill relationship but still has some fire into it??? at the same time?? both of you just gets eachother, and he feels free to show his funny, daring, flirty / teasing self he almost NEVER shows to anyone, so lucky you!

how did you feel about the reveal of din being his last name. i remember basically everybody on twt didn’t realize this until the end of s3. i’ve seen some people try to argue that din is actually still the first name because him and grogu are just a clan of two, and he wouldn’t want, or it wouldn’t make sense, to pass the last name tied to his past/past clan.

i think most, if not all, old mando fics used din as his first name and i feel like even some published after s3 finale still use it as his first. i’m very curious to know if you have a preference and/or any feelings about it, and which way you’ll be using for your new fic

Just to clarify the Sniper one isn't a headcanon, he canonically does shrooms. Him getting high off cane toads though is a headcanon specific to Learnin' the BLUs.

I don't really do headcanons of canon characters except as they apply to my fic because I think it kinda causes some obsessions over who has the "right" headcanon if that makes sense? Headcanon wars. With that in mind this will all be as it applies to the fic. Little pro tip for the future: if I use names, then I'm referring to characters as they relate to the fic. Class titles specifically are in referral to characters in canon. For example, canon Sniper is always referred to as Sniper. My characterisation of Sniper is always referred to as Mundy. Helps to avoid confusion. That out of the way...

RED TEAM

Jeremy: Ma said drugs are bad. Drinks alcohol but only beer and fruity cocktails which he never drinks around the team because he thinks they’ll judge him for drinking a pink Cosmopolitan. They wouldn’t. Only stimulant he uses is caffeine in the form of Bonk. He only drinks Cherry Fission and Crit-A-Cola.

Soldier: Something something war on drugs, unknowingly takes sedatives Luddy gives him so he’ll sleep later in the morning instead of playing the bugle terribly at exactly 4am every morning. Now he wakes up everyone at 6:30am instead. Get drunk on beer with Tav.

Firebug (Pyro): Cannabis. The only person who has seen what he looks like under the mask is Engie and Ludwig. How does he smoke it? No clue. Probably not a bong, most likely a pipe because of the pretty colours of the blown glass. Always keen to share.

Tavish: Scrumpy and (rarely) beer. Only drinks beer when he’s out of Scrumpy and he prefers Blu Streak to Red Shed. Has probably done cannabis with Pyro once or twice but not a stoner in the slightest.

Mikhail: Complete abstinence, not even liquor.

Dell: Adderall and only Adderall. He uses it to keep him awake and focused when he's working on projects at night. Also drinks beer, he too prefers Blu Streak to Red Shed. There’s a running joke here of no one drinking Red Shed because Red Shed tastes like skunk piss. Occasionally drinks Jack Daniels, always pours it into a glass. On rare occasions will smoke a cigar.

Ludwig: Has done everything under the sun at least once. Sources half the shit he gets from Mundy. Ayahuasca? Peyote? Shrooms? DMT? Ketamine? Mundy will set you up. 50% chance Luddy grows his own opium poppies. Doesn't get high recreationally, just does it for the science (except when his Medigun is involved, he totes gets high off that for shits and giggles).

Jacques (Spy): Nicotine and alcohol, everything else is for heathens. He prefers brandy because he's a pompous French cunt that only drinks French shit. Probably smokes fucking Gauloises like the cunt he is. That said he also knows how to enjoy a cigar and probably imports Cohibas from Cuba because he's such a cunt.

Mundy: If it can be naturally sourced, fair chance he's tried it (Mundy does not fuck with anything synthetic). Psychonaut of the team to the point Luddy goes to him for advice. Routinely does shrooms, occasionally travels to Arizona to catch Colorado River toads to source DMT for later. Feral about the DMT and does not share but will share his shrooms with you if you ask nicely. Picks them himself. Has everything from cubes to azzies but hates azzies because (despite being a more intense high) they're still azzies and every time he takes them he ends up paralysed for two hours. ABSOLUTELY HATES CANNABIS. As a bushman and an Australian he has a finely-tuned sense of smell and the smell of cannabis drives him up a wall. Has done everything I have minus LSD and ecstasy. Has done opium in a Bombay den and in Bangkok. The Bangkok one was more fun. Has done ketamine four times (makes it himself) but only once was recreationally. One was to treat pain after he was shot during a job (yes this was the one above his armpit). The other two was accidentally sticking himself with Sleeper darts because he's a dumb cunt. Actually doesn't like ketamine all that much because if he takes a full dose he wakes up with a headache. Probably bumped cocaine off a hooker's arse once and he will take that secret to his grave. Also smokes, obviously. Prefers Winfields (the red pack) but when he has the time he hand-rolls his own durries. Also chews tobacco sometimes. DOES NOT DRINK CAFFEINE. It makes his hands shake. Loves the taste of coffee (he drinks it black with no sugar) but only uses decaf beans so the caffeine level is so low that it doesn’t affect his aim. Also has a surprisingly good taste for alcohol—his favourite beer is VB but the best beer he’s ever had was Emu Export, he can just never find it outside of WA. Favourite cocktail is the old fashioned because he has an affection for whisky. Also spent his life drinking his dad’s bushshine plus is an Australian, so he has the highest liquor tolerance out of everyone on either team and could drink anyone under the table. Despite being VERY INSISTENT on psychedelic safety he's a complete hypocrite when it comes to practice: he never has a trip sitter, he does it when he's depressed or upset, he takes heroic/breakthrough doses even when he's already feeling like shit, and he spontaneously trips instead of planning in advance. Don't be like Mundy (or me). Also a massive adrenaline junkie and this becomes VERY OBVIOUS in Australia.

TIME FOR BLU TEAM!

Jesse: Ma said drugs are bad, but what Ma don’t know won’t hurt her. Isn’t allowed to smoke cigarettes and even Mundy refuses to give any to her unless she promises not to inhale. That said, she’s curious about shrooms but wouldn’t do anything besides that, and would only ever do shrooms with an experienced psychonaut she trusts (cough Mundy cough). Caffeine addict by way of Bonk. Only drinks Blutonium Berry and Crit-A-Cola. Would absolutely fight Jeremy for the last tinny of Crit-A-Cola. Will drink any alcohol except brandy. Has a surprisingly high alcohol tolerance especially for her size (cheers, Ma) and is one of the ~10% of the human population who doesn’t get hangovers. Actually scared of opioids and would never do them because Mikey overdosed on heroin. Had to be physically restrained when Suki gave her heroin in Italy after she was shot because she freaked out over it.

Dougal: Only smokes cigars and drinks Scotch whisky.

Heinz: Hates smoking because it irritates his already-damaged throat. Only drinks schnapps and beer. Doesn’t do recreational drugs.

Liem: Chews tobacco, doesn’t smoke. Alcoholic who only drinks beer. Favourite beer is Blu Streak. Became an alcoholic after Ted’s death.

Bruce: Only drinks beer, occasionally smokes cigars, will rarely let Suki test opioids on him.

Tamotu: Smokes cannabis. Has never done any other drugs but would be 100% keen to do psychedelics with Mundy sometime on account of Mundy being an experienced psychonaut and excellent trip-sitter.

Suki: Doesn’t do anything outside drinking sake and the occasional Adderall. However in the past she once did a bump of cocaine during a 36-hour stint in trauma surgery, and then proceeded to do surgery while high on the cocaine. The patient lived. That said Suki gets very hyperactive and more “aggressive” when she’s off her chops—give her phencyclidine and she’d burn the fucking state down. Has never and will never smoke. Yells at everyone else for smoking.

Yuri: Has never done any drugs ever except occasionally drinking a shot of vodka. You can tell shit’s about to go down when Yuri is getting into the liquor cabinet. Has a liquor tolerance to almost rival Liem. Chews tobacco, doesn’t smoke.

Charles: Chainsmoker and nicotine addict. Drinks Scotch whisky and still has no idea what happened to his $10,000 bottle of 1937 32-Year Macallan Fine & Rare but suspects Liem to be the culprit. Would never do reactional drugs because it’s for heathens. Complete lightweight when it comes to alcohol (Jesse got all of her tolerance from her mother) but also doesn’t get hangovers.

- he realises he has a… thing… for blood

Not to be a hater, Daryl is one of my favs but I personally have doubts he can hold a show by himself and idc what rando they stick him with (probably a woman they’ll ship bait fans with) in it. I don’t think it’ll work.

Like don’t read this if you’re excited about the Daryl spinoff I don’t wanna rain on anyone’s parade. These are just my own opinions

Disclaimer: I haven’t watched the last season but I do know some major plot points and also a lot of the Carol and Daryl stuff

Like I can’t even express my disappointment that the Carol and Daryl spin off was cancelled. I absolutely respect Melissa’s desire for a break. This isn’t about her because she’s valid and I love her. I think they’re just..stupid to go ahead with it without her.

The Carol and Daryl spin off would have worked because they already have this deep rich relationship and it hasn’t been concluded in a satisfying way. (Whether they get together romantically or not)

Also Daryl has arguably always been at his best character wise when interacting with Carol (um prior to the last two seasons at least)

He only started to become a more complex character when his scenes with Carol began. Their shared histories of abuse, his insistence in finding Sophia and grief at failing. The immensely strong bond that develops despite on the surface being quite different at first Comparing s1 and 2 Carol to s1 and 2 Daryl) but they’re really not, they’re both survivors and they find solace in each other.

They both bounce off each other in this really fun way too in more light hearted scenes too. They’re funny together

I genuinely think the episode where her and Daryl are on their own and stay in the woman’s shelter is one of the best episodes.

His relationship with Carol does more for Daryl’s character than any other relationship he has in the show. Merle and Rick definitely play their roles too but she’s the reason most people started liking him.

And Daryl plays a huge role in Carol’s development too of course. (I do think Carol stands in her own as a character way better though and it’s probably because so much of Daryl gets reduced to cool bsdass dude with a crossbow and him grunting in the background for like several seasons)

Carol who goes from flinching at his anger, expecting and accepting what she thinks he’ll do vs Carol eventually grabbing him by the arm while he’s mid rage mode and beating the shit out of guy and telling him to cut that shit out with no fear whatsoever because she knows he’d never hurt her. And Daryl who canonically is difficult to stop when he’s like that stops. For her.

What about how Daryl, the big tough redneck, who once flinched when Carol of all people raises a hand to tend to his wounds because he expects pain. Daryl who covered his scars as quickly as possible so no one sees. And then how Daryl who grows to not only accept physical affection from her but initiate it. The level of trust and love there okay..

But now we have Daryl who fucks random women in the woods and apparently has this grand meaningful relationship with someone he never mentions until now. He then proceeds to kill her and this effects nothing. What even was the point of the Leah arc it was terrible

And don’t even get me started on how poorly their conflict about Alpha and Carol almost dying (and presumably getting Connie and Magna killed due to her recklessness although I’d argue it wasn’t her fault but I digress the show treats it like it is) was handled like it could have been so heart wrenching but no let’s keep this awkward angry tension until we decide it’s better now with no proper resolution.

Also they made Daryl a huge hypocrite in that arc

Like they even say outside of it Daryl is just terrified of losing her but why aren’t you as writers showing that? Why is he just glaring at her and snapping at her over trivial things but we never get him snapping and inadvertently revealing that to her on screen? Give us some kind of emotional catharsis.

Why does he seemingly know she tried to commit suicide and all he has to say about it “thanks for saving her” to Lydia. Also how does he know? did Lydia tell him bc I know Carol didn’t with how she’s been walking on egg shells with him

Canonically Daryl “flips the fuck out when Carol is in danger” would have a pretty damn big possibly explosive reaction to that I think. He’d be angry initially yes because Daryl responds to hurt and fear with anger but at it’s root it’s about losing her. He’d probably say all the wrong things at first but he’d reveal without meaning to how fucking scared he is and how could she even consider…that

And give me her finding comfort in her best friend, finally letting him in like he’s been begging her too and letting out the massive amount of grief and pain she’s been hiding. (She’s lost FOUR children in horribly traumatic ways)
