Was just struck by the overwhelming urge to rate Stormlight characters on their driving ability. I have no evidence I'm going off of vibes alone. Here they are in no particular order:

Dalinar- I think he's generally a fine driver now, though still prone to bouts of road rage when someone won't let him merge. Very bad driver in his youth. 5/10

Jasnah- I think she would be a shockingly bad driver. She seems like the kind of person that believes the rules of the road apply to everyone other than her. The type to run a red light because the meeting she's going to is important. Never uses her turn signals because if shes in the left lane it should be obvious shes making a left turn. Despite her lack of care she always arrives safely and without a ticket, somehow. Would fit right in in Northern Virginia. Also the worst backseat driver ever. 3/10

Sadeas- Good driver but employs bad practices. When traffic is heavy he uses the shoulder of the road as his own personal lane. Only person capable of surviving New York traffic. 6/10

Kaladin- Fantastic driver but kind of slow. Won't make a left turn unless there is literally no other car on the road. Always follows the speed limit and uses his turn indicators. Also the type to yell at everyone to shut the fuck up and let him drive when he's in heavy traffic. 8/10

Syl- Cannot be allowed to drive under any circumstances. Bridge 4 let her drive once and she backed the car into a mailbox. 0/10

Shallan- Shes a bad driver but better than Jasnah. Her following distance is atrocious and she frequently rear ends people, but she does at least try to follow the rules of the road. 4/10

Veil- Worse than Shallan but says she's better. Will take a turn at 60 to try and make the car drift. 2/10

Radiant- Fantastic driver who follows the ruled perfectly. Not great at responding to unexpected situations though. 8/10

Venli- Drives like a psychopath. Weaves in and out of lanes to get there 30 seconds faster. If traffic is bad she will dead ass make a U turn in the middle of the road over a double yellow to leave. 1/10

Rock- Great driver, but hates driving. Not much more to say. 8/10

Sigzil- Best driver in bridge 4, only slightly held back by the fact that he knows every obscure rule and expects everyone else driving does also. 9/10

Moash- Believes the rules of the road are stupid and there to hold him back. The kind of guy who will not let you merge in front of him like his life depends on it. Would go 100 in a school zone for fun. 2/10

The Lopen- The guy that tells you he's a great driver but starts playing pokemon go while behind the wheel because he can absolutely do both. 4/10

Szeth- Mediocre driver prone to shocking episodes of road rage. The kind of guy who would slam the brakes to make the car behind him rear end him out of spite if they were following too close. 5/10

Navani- Fantastic driver. Always has the newest lane correcting tech and such installed on her vehicle. 10/10

Adolin- Cannot stay focused on the road. Type of guy who will look over his shoulder for like 15 seconds to carry on a conversation until Shallan yells at him to look at the road. Horrible speeder. Usually manages to avoid crashing though. 3/10

Wit- Shockingly competent driver. I mean he had all that experience with Wax, so... 10/10

Gavilar- The kind of douche who lifts his truck and has his mufflers removed so he can rev his obnoxious engine whole going through neighborhoods. 1/10

Renarin- He's a good driver in small towns and on winding, narrow country roads, but cannot handle big city traffic. Luckily he knows and readily admits this. 7/10

BONUS:

Rlain- I feel like he's just a typical good driver. Follows the rules as best he can, goes a few miles over the speed limit on the freeway, but nothing crazy. 8/10

Kelsier- It's a miracle he's survived this long with the way he drives. He would make a left on red without hesitation. Vin screamed the first time she rode with him. 1/10

Anyone who looked at you could simply see how in love you were with Todo. Chapter 11

Hunter, Wrecker and Crosshair back into the room, closing the doors. "It's gonna get more difficult to get outta here," Hunter says, loud enough so that all of us can hear it. "There are several squads of droids closing in." I hear Hunter and Crosshair sealing the door.

"How long can you hold them off?" General Skywalker asks.

"Tech, how much longer?"

"At least your sense of humor's still intact. Now what our fucking plan on getting outta here?" I ask.

Echo coughs slightly. "There's an exhaust vent that leads to the cooling systems right there," he says, pointing upwards at a circular vent on the ceiling.

"They've breached the front door," Hunter reports. "It won't be long before they're through the second."

I look up at the exhaust vent. How the kriff are we supposed to get up there?

Echo uses his cybernetic arm and plugs it into the control panel, turning some stuff. "That should get it open."

I look up. The exhaust vent opens, revealing an upwards tunnel that's glowing blue.

"Great. Now how do we get up there?" Crosshair asks. Bro literally spoke my mind.

We walk through the cooling vents and Rex and I help Echo walk. Echo says that he can find us a safe way outta here. My fingers are slightly cold, because it's a cooling system, obviously. My gloves don't help much, considering they leave my fingers exposed. It's a design choice. It looks cool.

"Well, there is a way," Echo says, and he's referring to how we're gonna escape this place. "But you're not gonna like it."

We walk through the cooling systems for a while, General Skywalker and Echo leading the way, until we reach a door that opens up to the above of a large metal pipe connecting to another of those floating city buildings. It's windy as we step out. I don't particularly like heights either. Echo was right. I don't like this at all.

"I don't know about this," Rex says as he looks out.

"I'm telling you, there's a landing pad on that other building," Echo says, pointing to the building across the pipe.

"So you think there's a ship there we can steal?" Hunter steps out as well.

"Well, I hope there's a ship we can steal," Echo replies.

"Let's hope this trip isn't for nothing," Hunter says as General Skywalker, Echo and Rex start walking across the pipe.

I follow behind Rex, and Hunter and the batch are behind me.

"Oh boy, I can't even look," I hear Wrecker say from the back.

"Then don't," I reply from the front.

"Just keep walking, Tech," Wrecker says.

"That's fine, but if you fall don't take me with you."

"Uh oh, I looked," Wrecker sounds scared. "I think I'm gonna be sick."

"If you vomit don't vomit on Tech," I tell him.

"Hang on Wrecker, we're almost there," Hunter tries to calm down a currently very freaked out Wrecker.

I hear that familiar sound of droids coming from the front, and draw my knife and pistol, trying to keep my balance on the pipe. To be honest, drawing my weapons makes it easier.

"Turn around! Go back!" General Skywalker shouts from the front, and I see him igniting his lightsaber. When we turn around, we see some more droids coming from the back.

Shit. We're either fucked or very fucked.

I hear General Skywalker deflecting a blast bolt at a droid and Tech shoots another, I throw one of my knives at one of the droids' heads, and the droid falls from the pipe.

I never liked that knife anyway.

I see Crosshair falling from the pipe and Wrecker, despite his intense af fear of heights, literally jumps down and catches Crosshair, hanging by the legs from a support just below the pipe.

Stupid ass. Bro could've died.

"Anyone got a brilliant idea?" General Skywalker shouts.

"I do have a brilliant idea," Tech responds.

"I'm hanging here!" Wrecker shouts from below.

"When the locals attacked us, I recorded the creature's distress call," Tech says, tapping a few buttons on his datapad.

"He records everything. It's a hobby," Hunter says, as I shoot a few more of the droids, not wanting to use my knives because those things are expensive.

"Which allows us to call those flying creatures to us," Tech continues, and presses a button which produces a really high-pitched screeching noise, and we cover our ears to try and block out the sound.

"Ow! Enough with the sound!" Wrecker shouts, and he and Crosshair shoot from below. Crosshair's literally hanging from Wrecker, and he literally puts all his trust into Wrecker not to let him fall while he shoots the droids.

Really wish I had friends like that. Oh wait, I did. Yea, that was Fives. And Echo. But I was closer to Fives.

"There is our ride out of here!" Tech says, pointing at some shadows in the clouds which I could only assume to be the flying creatures that he called, and we all look up at them as they fly up and past us.

"Now how do we get on them?" General Skywalker asks, and I shoot another droid.

"How else? We jump," Tech replies as the flying creatures fly below us, and General Skywalker jumps and lands on one of them.

I can hear my heart pounding in my chest, and I see Hunter looking at me expectantly, and because I have to impress the batch, I use what little strength is left in my legs and jump off, trying not to close my eyes.

I land on one of them, on its back. I'm breathing heavily. That choking feeling when I'm in a life-threatening situation starts surfacing, and I'm trying to calm down, gulping down dust-filled air like I'm resurfacing from a deep dive.

And now I'm starting to get angry. Getting scared like this makes me feel weak in front of the others. I don't like it. I hate this.

Suddenly, a blaster bolt whizzes past my head, and I look back seeing a bunch of droids shooting at us.

Gotta steer this thing. But I don't know how. My legs grip the flying creature tighter, because I have no interest in dying today.

I turn back and aim with my pistol, lining the back sight up with the front sight and aiming slightly below the droid's head, and I shoot. It hits the droid in the head and I shoot at the others.

We fly sideways, and I was just aiming at another droid when I feel a sharp pain shoot through my right hand. It slams against a rock, hard, and my pistol flies out of my hand, and my hand doesn't feel so good. I grit my teeth as I'm almost thrown off the flying creature, and I'm hanging on for dear life on the creature's tail with my left hand.

I can barely move my right hand, it hurts so much. But with one last clench of my fist, which sends jolts of pain shooting down my arm, I shoot my grappling hook at the back of the creature, pulling myself up as I retract my grappling hook.

"Hey ad'ika! How you holding up?" I hear Echo shout from the flying creature next to me.

I take a few moments to regain my sense of surroundings and find out that we outmaneuvered all the droids.

Should I shout back? That could come off as cringe to the batch.

Suddenly, blaster fire rains down from above, and I draw my other pistol with my good hand, General Skywalker ignites his lightsaber. The flying creatures take flight and fly away, and Crosshair shoots at the incoming droids, hitting one and sending it spiraling to the ground, leaving behind a trail of smoke. I manage to hit one as well with my pistol, and as the droids fly away, I keep my pistol in my hand, my other arm hanging by my side as I try not to move it.

"Not good," General Skywalker says. "If I know Tambor, he'll come after us. Us and the Poletecs, with everything he's got."

The Poletec leader starts talking shit to us again.

"What's he saying, Tech?" General Skywalker asks.

"He says that we have broken our word. We have brought the war to his village."

"You're right," Rex speaks up, stepping forward and taking off his helmet. "Tell him he's right, Tech. Tell him we didn't plan to drag his people into war. But look what the Separatists did to one of our people." He points at Echo, and all the Poletecs look at him, all gasping, looking slightly horrified.

"They took away his freedom, his humanity. They tried to turn him into a machine. The Techno Union claim they're neutral, but they have chosen sides. Now your people have to choose."

"Couldn't have said it better, Rex," General Skywalker says.

That was a good speech, Da-Rex.

Crosshair scoffs. "Let's hope it works. Because I see forces coming. More than we can handle alone."

Another great moment though that shows how much Echo already doesn't fit this is when Tech helpfully fills in AS WELL AS EARN A DECENT AMOUNT OF CREDITS ONCE THE JOB IS COMPLETE and Echo sounds so damn downtrodden saying 'yeah, that too' they want to be doing good things for the sake of it not worrying about if it's going to get them paid. Tech meanwhile seems more like. You do a good thing (rescue a child) AND you get a good thing in return (the ability to eat regularly) what's there to be upset about?

and speaking of which oh my god FINALLY someone who also loves salmon run. i'm so enamored with the horror aspect of it. just the whole system of going to war with the honor of accepting a death fought tooth and nail for... a massive swarm of bloodthirsty fish who want nothing more than to see your ink on the walls... and man it is INTENSE. splat3 salmon run is SO MUCH HARDER than splat2. way more mobs and way tougher ranks - the danger percent can go up to 333%. insane. and then of course the lore of the gamemode itself is great too - even beyond splat3's story mode, it's so fascinating to see their culture and the kinds of fish that can develop depending on conditions. and of course the aesthetic of it being much more grungy and dark and industrial than the rest of splatoon is just so very good.

i doubt you have a favorite fish (i mean what kinda crazy guy would! hahah °_ °") but please allow me to tell you how much i LOVE horrorboros. first of all he looks so fucking awesome. very solid design and detail. and he looks like a SNAKE FISH. two of the world's greatest creations in ONE... AND he KILLED it in the first impressions department! like:

HOW AWESOME IS THAT??? i'll tell you just how awesome it is: HELLA!!!!!

secondly, the symbolism of horrorboros' original symbol (uroboros as i'm sure you're aware of) is just SUCH an incredible pick for salmon run. first of all, it's just a very good ancient symbol in general (i'm a sucker for cyclical motifs that embody infinity...) and secondly it is very fitting to the salmonid's culture in general! the strong focus on consumption and a salmon's life cycle in general, with the babies using the nutrients from their parent's corpse (it isn't exactly pretty) to survive, both make uroboros an incredible pick to draw inspiration from for a king salmonid. i love horrorboros so very much. what a great snake fish <3

(if you do happen to have a favorite salmonid... feel free to tell me... :-) i quite enjoy the salmonids if you couldn't tell already)

OKAY SO yes!!! i really love the horror parts of salmon run! usually splatoon handles horror in very subtle ways, like the unnerving sounds hidden in splat 1 + 2 and octo expansion's whole sanitization thing, but salmon run went ALL OUT and i love it

i had stopped playing splat 3 around the time horrorboros was introduced, but the posts i saw abt it were HORRIFYING, especially it's scream! splatoon could traumatize an 8 yr old child...

salmon run has always been very interesting, from the design taking the "octos use scrap for their tech" concept to a WHOOLE another level never ceases to amaze me how much effort the splatoon team put into that mode... especially with the symbolism you mentioned earlier! salmon run has a very unnerving feel to it, i recall it's lore also had something to do with splatoon's religion themes?? although it has a good chance to be another reference, it is very interesting...

also, my fav salmonid is the maws and the big shot!! i dont know i jus like them... ive killed a lot of maws but i think they are growing on me....

I'm in a car rn and It got me thinking, what if I made genshin driving hcs?? I haven't seen one b4,, so,,

THIS MAN WOULD DEFO TREAT IT LIKE BUMPER CARS ISTG,,

HE'D GET INTO SUDDEN RACES W STRANGERS

AND ALL THE MECHANICS IN THE CITY KNOW HIS NAME.

He CAN drive properly, but he wants to scare you. Not to mention he DOES have the money.

He's in line to be the next archon of speeding tickets.

He doesn't drive. Childe doubles as his personal chauffeur.

But not his wallet

He never gives childe gas money.

Though if he had to drive, he'd defo crash the car.

He drives properly. He drives well. A bit too well considering he rarely drives.

Except when thoma is in the car. He becomes childe 2.0

He will stop by EVERY Boba place. And nothing can stop him.

Wdym that's too much boba?? Have you seen the never-ending supply of armpit Boba he has??

Ayato is a law abiding responsible driver for the most part. He IS the head of the yashiro commission after all.

Thoma

He takes the wheel whenever ayato is having too much fun. We can't let him crash the 69th car this month.

He has a mini heart attack everytime ayato sits in the driver's seat.

Thoma drives the kamisato siblings everywhere.

It's his duty as their servant! Defo not bc he doubts his masters or anything! OKAY. MAYBE HE'S A LITTLE WORRIED ABT THEM.

Long drives w thoma would be rly relaxing. There will be a comfortable silence and occasional small talk between you two. Unfortunately, his gentle voice quickly lulls you to sleep, so you can't admire his side profile and jawline for too long.

Jean

Like thoma, she is responsible.

THIS WOMAN IS A RESPONSIBLE, RELIABLE, GOOD AT DRIVING, WON'T CAUSE YOU ANY CONCUSSIONS IN AN ACCIDENT BC SHE WONT GET INTO ONE, OVERALL SUPER DOORMAT LIKE driver.

She doesn't drunk drive.

She doesn't get speeding tickets.

She stops at red lights.

She doesn't get into rando races.

She is a v good driver.

If you want to live another day, have Jean drive you. It's the safest bet and will defo save you from 2 hrs of wap/cocomelon on loop. Unless kaeya and Klee decided it'd be a funny joke.

Paimon

Paimon is physically too small to drive. The only car she can drive is this one

The cart will be loaded w snacks and traveller has to push.

It's alright traveller! Paimon isn't heavy!

Paimon floats even in the mini car :D

She can't drive. Yae miko and Sara drive her.

She doesn't even know how to start a car.

She's great at charging electric ones though! When you tell her it's an electric car, she tries to control it with her powers, but then only realizes that she completely destroyed the car after a very loud "BOOM"

She'll then nervously ask how much it costed... can she borrow a loan from the 3 commissions first?? That's a lot of money! Sorry traveller!!

Do you ever feel guilty when you relax or take a break? I'm trying to learn tech and you know it's always growing so I always have to learn something new… and especially being self taught, it's hard. So when I play a video game, I feel like I'm wasting time I could be learning and then I stop the game & code more. I wish I could follow Jin's philosophy but sometimes I wonder if it helps that he's already so successful, but I know he's human too and obviously he can get burnt out trying to do things without breaks (I mean he wrote Abyss with those feelings and I relate sm). Honestly tho, if I was already successful, I'd feel much less pressure than I do now cause I'm not. *sigh* I don't think I can ever truly relax and not feel guilty until I am

oh i feel this so much believe me T-T i know that guilty feeling very intimately. like on top of working 8 hrs a day 5 days a week, i'm still supposed to learn all the latest features and updates introduced in the languages i work in in my free time or weekends. but tbh after working on it all day long i genuinely feel too burnt out to even look at a piece of code after i log out of work :( and it's really discouraging ngl :(

so i get how u feel, but believe me forcing yourself to code/work all the time with no breaks is not going to take u anywhere. the human mind is built in such a way that it needs to take breaks every now and then to intake and process information efficiently. u cannot learn things properly unless you're giving your mind breaks and doing smth else in regular intervals for healthy brain processing.

so i won't tell u fancy inspirational quotes i read off the internet to make u feel better, i just wanna say that you're doing great as it is, u don't need to overwork your brain to convince yourself that you're being productive. instead of thinking that you're wasting time by taking breaks, think of it as a way to recharge your braincells, like a reward for learning smth new every now and then!

to put it briefly, astrology is a practice of divination (like things such as tarot and numerology are). with astrology, you can basically do/learn/find out any and everything as long as the chart of what your looking at is correct (and sometimes you don't even need to look at a chart). wanna get a job? wanna know how a relationship pans out? wanna know more about yourself or other people? wanna know why a particular book is so successful? astrology can help with that (and millions of other things).

astrology can tell you everything you need to know about yourself. and even if something within your chart doesn't resonate with you at the moment—it will later.

for example—let's say you want to know the profession of your future spouse. using your birth chart and starting from the 1st House (1H—the house of self) count seven spaces until you get to the 7th House (house of partnerships; your spouse). from the 7H, move six more spaces (this is because 6, or the 6th House represents work and career). counting those six spaces lands you on your 12th House (a hidden house, karma, the future, etc—very knowing).

now your 12H will tell you their profession. what sign is your 12H in? let's say your 12H is in Capricorn but is intercepted by Aquarius. your partner could work in tech, engineering, humanitarianism, or spiritual practices (just example—all ruled by aqua) and make a lot of money/be of great status/importance (capricorn) in their field.

For the life of me..I get hot headed internally so dam much. Working out/yoga was never a problem 🧘🏽‍♀️ Meditation is honestly impossible sometimes and I don't get why. The goal for the last 2 quarters of the year, consistency and patience.

Consistency-

Whenever I start something I look at and think "this is compleate garbage throw it away". Lately I give the "garbage" time and literally say "Trust the process, trust the progress." Can I tell you that it actually works! It's a metal doubt thing u gotta uproot from your 🧠.

Patience-

The moment I touch my work I expect it to be great b4 putting in the actual work, crazy right?Move way to fast that I'll skip over important parts just to get to the point. As a 23y/o it feels stupid to say I'm failing at life when I'm literally just starting. Everything is constantly moving so fast rn. U just gotta keep goin. I don’t know about u or anyone else but I personally can’t stand songs with the voices are distorted in anyway and usually can’t even list to a whole song when it’s like that yet with this song I did and absolutely loved it. It’s yet another song of hers I love that’s unreleased. I really really hope they will release it or we can get it without the distort voice. I agree with you on songs with distorted voices. Most of the time it bothers me to listen to them, but not in this case. I don't know if it's because it's Mila, but it doesn't bother me at all.
