I want to dedicate this chapter to @souyaddiction because your post of this morning gave me the hype to finally sit down and end it because it was half-done for more than a month. So thanks, really. your words meant a lot! (and for the rest of you, don't hesitate to comment on the fics you like, it will make an author so damn happy 💜)

Warnings: Angst and hurt/no comfort. Sanzu is having another mental breakdown (once for chapter, seems like a good ratio I guess?🤔). Mental health issues and a lot of self-hate because lil gremlin is not having a good time. I promise the ending will be bittersweet and have some hope on it (but not for Sanzu, sorry blorbo!)

Notes: Okay, I know I said it would change POV between Kisaki and Sanzu, but I don't know how to write Kisaki, his mind is a total mystery for me. So...this is Sanzu's POV again because thank god he's a stalker and I could fit all the plot just with his point of view. I don't feel too confident with the part of Kisaki's dialogue, but I did my best, I hope he doesn't sound OoC! (also, the thought on Kisaki and Hanma belong to Sanzu, not me, I love my HanKisa weirdos)

'This are his intrusive thoughts' and 'This are his regular thoughts'! I was trying to show how broken his mind already is and this seemed like the best way in my head of showing it, I hope it makes sense :)

Also, I did that game with the names again because I love it. I used "Haruchiyo" when he feels more vulnerable, more emotional. And "Sanzu" when he's trying to hide this vulnerability or more close to the edge, to becoming that deranged Sanzu that we saw in Kanto Manji and Bonten.

(Same for "Mucho" and "Muto", since is Sanzu's pov the first one is used in more affectionate moments)

To be honest, Sanzu is bored. He's plan was pretty simple: following Kisaki around until he discovers something he can use. It's also really easy to do it, at least for him. He's too used to being a shadow, to not being looked twice. Something that used to be painful but plays in his favor when he needs to spy on someone. 'Sure, keep lying to yourself, you love being nothing more than a mere shadow for everyone. Always so easy to ignore.'

After more than two weeks of doing this, the most interesting thing that happened was when Kisaki managed to make Hanma a new captain in Toman, pulling off an alliance that apparently impressed some of the other captains. Haruchiyo felt a punch in his gut at this, as if this decision was the same as spitting on Baji's memory. But he shut up, even if he couldn't understand why Mikey did this, at the end of the day, who was he to question the king's decisions?

If Mikey had asked Sanzu about this, he would've said it was a terrible idea. But he didn't, no one asked him, so he just kept his opinion for himself. 'No one ever asks you anything that actually matters, right? Because they don't trust you.' 'That's not true, Baji trusted me. That's why I'm doing this, I can't let him down.'

His own thoughts are starting to go out of control (again) and Sanzu is sure that the cause is this tedium. 'Do something, fucker! Plan a murder, plot some evil shit or whatever!' But no, Kisaki just keeps doing the same routine almost every freaking day (at least that allows him to still keep an eye on Mikey, since Kisaki actually goes to class, that bastard it's so boring). He tries to distract himself wondering why on Earth Hanma looks so amused around the boy with glasses, like he was in some kind of circus. 'What a freak, he genuinely likes spending time with that fucker'.

To be honest, Sanzu actually learned some important things spying on Kisaki. Like how he never locks his window at night, giving Hanma the freedom to sneak in and out of his room. The scarred boy felt like Christmas came earlier the day he discovered that, a maniacal grin under his mask.

He also learned that Kisaki was panicking after the stunt that Baji pulled on him. Haruchiyo loves knowing that Baji left such a big mark, a force of nature until the very end. But that's not all, Kisaki is scared. He doesn't want to deal with another one of Mikey's childhood friends wreaking havoc on his plans. So, apparently, Sanzu is next in line.

Not that Sanzu is complaining (at all). It makes his job easier, actually. No need to be worried about collateral damage if he's the target. The only thing he has to do, is discovering how Kisaki is going to try to put him out of the picture. Once he knows, he'll find a way to mess with that plan and kill the bastard. No middle points, he's not going to risk it (Baji is already dead, he can't risk it).

'Maybe his plan is killing me from boredom. And it's working.' He almost laughs out loud with this thought, but Hanma and Kisaki are close now, he has to keep it quite. Shrinking himself further into the shadows of the alley, Sanzu tries to sharpen his hearing.

“You've been talking for ages about how you're going to take down the 5th Division vice-captain, but you still didn't tell me exactly how. C'mon Kisaki, don't be mean, you know my curiosity is piqued!”

Hanma speaks so loud that it's quite easy to hear, always acting like he was on a theater. Unfortunately, the other boy is more cautious, so he's unable to grasp everything.

“...Toman's traitor. He'll be the key... he should arrive in a few minutes. Be a good pawn and stop whining.”

The taller boy grins at that, but Sanzu is not really paying attention to their weird dynamic anymore, his efforts are finally paying off. And it's better than he imagined, he's going to be able to uncover a traitor in Toman!

If it weren't for the fact that he's being sneaky, Sanzu would jump from excitement right now. Obviously, it would be much better if there wasn't a snake within the gang, but one of the many things he learned from his captain, is that there is always going to be scabs. That's why the task of the 5th Division is to purge them.

So yes, maybe Sanzu shouldn't be this happy about this. 'You definitely shouldn't, are you glad of having to kill someone else?' He ignores his stupid brain, because he knows that's not it. He isn't glad with the idea of having to do that. He doesn't want to become a murderer, he just wants to protect Mikey. And he's willing to pay the cost.

But that's not it. Not all, at least. He's about to find a traitor all on his own, without any type of help (well, with Baji's help to be fair). Haruchiyo is going to prove his value to his captain, he's going to show how useful he can be. He's sure that Mucho will look at him with a delighted smile on his face, that he'll compliment his skills and his hard work.

Yes, that's it. He'll protect Mikey, he'll honor Baji's last will and he'll make his captain proud of him. Mucho will see that he's more than a wild animal that needed to be tamed. His captain will see that he's worthy, he's certain of it. And Haruchiyo will finally be able to believe it, to feel like more than just a nuisance. 'Are you really worthy?' 'Yes, I am. I'm going to be after this.'

The minutes seem to be passing slower until, finally, the three boys catch the sound of someone approaching them. Sanzu makes sure again they can't see him, trying to be one with the darkness that surrounds him. Until the person arrives and he almost stumbles against the wall from the shock. What is his captain doing here? 'Maybe he knows? Maybe he discovered what this two were planning. Yeah, it has to be that!'

He feels a excitement through his body at the idea that they can take Kisaki down together. Like it should be. But something inside his brain is telling him to wait, to evaluate the situation before. 'You say it yourself, you can't risk it. Are you gonna bet Mikey's life on Muto?' Sanzu shakes his head and decides to listen. 'Just in case, right?'

The 5th division captain stamps Kisaki against the wall, fury flowing on his eyes, keeping Hanma away with the other hand.

“What makes you think you have any right to call me here, Kisaki?” The voice is calm but harsh at the same time.

The boy with glasses just laugh and puts his hands up, showing a false submission and calming his lap dog with a gesture.

“Calm down, Muto, I just wanted a few words with you. We have a friend in common, don't we?”

Sanzu ears perk up with this, unsure of what he should think of that. But his captain seems to understand, because he loosens his grip, allowing the bastard to be free.

“Izana.” Muto only grumbles one word, but it's enough for Kisaki to show a satisfied smile on his hideous face.

“I knew we could understand each other. Now that we clear out the issue of your loyalty, there something... Some one, in the middle of the way to crush Mikey like Izana wants, isn't it?”

Muto just clenches his fits, his knuckles getting almost white. But he doesn't deny the words, he doesn't deny that he is... A traitor? 'No, he can't be. No. No' 'Are you sure? He looks like one. Still happy about it?' 'Shut up, he can't be. He can't.'

“Would you kill for Izana, Muto?” Kisaki's voice feels like a poison, rotting away everything Haruchiyo used to know about his captain.

“What do you want exactly? I don't have time for your little games, go to the point.”

“Sanzu. Your vice-captain is too close to Mikey, knows to much. He could jeopardize Izana's plans to isolate Mikey. Sanzu must go, is that simple.”

A fist punches the wall, right next to Kisaki's face. The boy flinches for a second, but keep his composure.

“That simple? No. I know Sanzu, he's loyal to me, he isn't going to do shit without orders.”

The scarred boy wants to laugh at the irony, they both thought they knew each other so well, didn't they? And they were both wrong. So, so wrong.

“Oh, really? Do you think Sanzu would still follow you around once you betray Mikey?” His voice gives off a false sweetness. “After what you saw in that funeral?”

Muto just purses his lips at that, almost like it the first time he has to confront this fact. That he can't have everything.

“I see you understand now. Don't worry, I'm merciful, I'll let you a few days to think about it.”

This are the last words that Haruchiyo is able to comprehend, his mind, his whole world, seems to be spinning out of control. He tries to stabilize his own body leaning against the wall, feeling too dizzy, ends up slipping to the ground. He's shaking, not realizing how much time has passed, but the others are no longer in his sight anymore.

Taking off his mask, he throws up, feeling sick. 'This is too much, this can't be...Mucho... I trusted him.' 'Did you? You kept so many secrets from him, didn't you?' 'Because I promised to Shinichiro, that's different!'

Haruchiyo just wants to scream, to bang his head against the wall, to disappear swallowed by the shadows of the alley. He can't even go back home. 'What home? The one you share with that damn impostor?' But he should, he should pull himself together or he'll compromise his plan.

A pair of dark eyes come to his mind, a reminder of why he's doing all of this. 'Mikey. I can't fail him. He's the only one that matters, Muto can burn in hell.' 'Are you going to be the one sending him there? Can you really do that? After everything he gave you?'

Sanzu steadies his own breathe, trying to focus on his mission, on what he knows it's the right thing to do. He's finally able to start walking, the breeze of the night helping him to come back to reality. 'Yes, I can do it. The only thing he gave me was lies, it means nothing. It never meant anything, anyway.'

He can hear that annoying voice inside his brain laughing at him and oh, he hates it so much, he hates his own brain so fucking much. 'That's it, then? You'll just keep the lies going on, use him to get to Kisaki and kill them both?' 'Yes.' 'And how far will you go with your lies? Are you going to snuggle against him in bed tonight? To ask him for affection like a desperate puppy like you always do?'

He stops on his track at that, unsure of how to handle it, if he'll be able to pretend like this tonight. Maybe he doesn't need to, it wouldn't be the first time that he spends the night out, his captain never asked too much questions before. That's it, he can just sleep in one of his old hidings and think carefully about how to get rid of those two bastards. Face Muto tomorrow, prepare himself before.

'I'm going to use that fucking betrayer to get to Kisaki, they'll regret trying to stab Mikey's back. I'm going to make sure of that.' Sanzu smirks cruelly with this thought, savoring the idea. The punishment. He'll be the one imparting justice in the king's name. And he'll enjoy it, it doesn't matter who receives the penalty. They should've known better. His captain should've known better. 'You should've known better than trust him too.'

When the morning comes, Muto is not in their small apartment. He seems to just left, most of his things aren't there. A shoji board and and old leather jacket that Haruchiyo used to steal from him seem to be the only important possessions his captain left behind. 'Coward, he's a damn coward.'

Sanzu is burning in rage, a renewed feeling of betrayal growing inside of him, staining and corrupting his already broken mind. 'What are you going to do now? You were too weak to face him when you had the chance and he ran away. You failed. Again.' 'No, I didn't, I still know how to get to Kisaki. No more waiting.'

The place feels suffocating without Muto's calm presence, but it doesn't matter, he knows exactly what he needs to take from his own room.

In the middle of the night, a silent shadow climbs until he's manages to sneak through the unlocked window. Stepping inside, he waits until his eyes get used to the darkness of the room.

“Hanma?” A sleepy voice asks with a not-so-subtle insecurity lingering in it.

“Wrong answer, fucker.” Sanzu snickers, before slamming Kisaki's head with the hilt of his katana, knocking the boy unconscious.

Okay so I checked and THERE'S A NEW VERSION UP!!

This version is actually SUPER interesting to compare to the original, I think I liked the other one better? But I will admit CG5 went OFF on this one. I don't think I've ever really heard him scream like that in a song before and it really fit the tone they were going for here!!! Very cool, check it out if y'all want to :)

Since this is a sort of remake of the original (like a month after that version came out?????) I do have some opinions about how this stacks up and, for the first time, I will be getting a bit negative with it so if you don't want to see that I've put it under a read more! If you're interested feel free to take a peek but definitely don't worry about it if you don't want to hear it.

One more thing! This song would not be applicable for the tournament, since the only thing that really changed was CG5's verse and it doesn't really feel substantial enough to me to make it an entirely new song. Sorry! But if you like this one and haven't already, please consider submitting the original instead!

So being entirely honest here, because sometimes reviews can be negative reviews and these are all just my personal opinions, this one felt a little lackluster compared to the original. CG5 performed great and it looks like everyone had a fun time, but from a music standpoint I prefer the original beyond a shadow of a doubt.

CG5's verse was fine, I thought the lyrics were cool, but the chorus...felt a little weird. The original song felt like every part was sung by Springtrap with the exception of the bridge by Kevin Foster, so using the same lyrics and giving that verse to the kids felt really strange to me. I did like the bit where the other animatronics show up and suddenly it's a whole chorus of people singing! But to me the lyrics just felt so weird coming from them that I couldn't really focus on anything else.

The rest of it is a banger, as always, but personally I feel the CG5 verse detracts from the rest of the song and what it was going for. Also, I'm not a music producer so I don't know what that part of it is like, but why come out with a slightly changed version of your song a MONTH after the original came out??? It almost feels like they don't like that version anymore which to me is a little sad considering it's quickly become one of my favorites.

This isn't as relevant but the animation also felt a little forced and flashy in a way that felt uncanny which might have been exactly what they were going for!!! Doesn't vibe with me though, personally.

Lennie loves it when Harry ties his hair up.

She definitely loves to see him with his curls tied up in a disheveled bun, old athletic shorts and tattoos in full view, humming a tune while playing the guitar resting on his chest.

She likes this intimate side of him, it makes her feel like it's really just the two of them at times like this.

"What are you thinking about, love?..." Her boyfriend's voice brings her out of her thoughts.

Then she smiles slightly before answering. "That I'm so lucky to have you and that you look great with your hair tied up." She shuffles her body slowly until the tips of her feet touch his thigh because she is hugging her knees sitting on the couch next to him.

"Oh yeah?..." A smile appears on her face, it's one of those that make Harry's cheeks sink, making the dimples present. "You like to feed my ego, don't you, pretty girl?" He sets the instrument aside so he can stretch his tinted arms out to Lennie's body.

"I like to be honest, H." She lets out a giggle when she feels the curly man's hands take her to pull her on top of him.

She's wearing a The Rolling Stones t-shirt that belongs to him and underneath only white panties that fit her almost perfectly. Lennie never felt she was on par with her former partners but Harry taught her not to compare herself to other people because it was only going to hurt her.

"You look gorgeous in my clothes, you know that, petal?. I love seeing you in my shirts." He mumbled lowering his hands down to her ass covered by the thin fabric of the underwear to squeeze a generous amount of it. "It makes me so hard to see you like this." He leans toward her to kiss her lips shortly.

"Harry..." Lennie murmurs when he pulls away just inches. "You look like a horny teenager trapped in the body of a 22 year old man" She teases.

"It's not my fault you're hot and making me act like a horny teenager."

"Oh, now it's my fault, Mr. Styles?..." She hugs his shoulders smiling with a hint of perversity in her gesture.

"You're definitely playing dirty, love." He growls before catching her lips again in an kiss.

Their mouths move in a constant battle in search of dominance as Lennie from one moment to the next has started to move her hips back and forth feeling him harden beneath her.

"Stop if you don't want me to drop my pants right now and fuck you on this couch." Harry's voice comes out as a command and a plea at the same time.

She can't help but giggle against his lips and slowly stop moving as she breaks from the kiss to see her boyfriend's green eyes darkened probably by the desire inside him.

"You should finish writing, tomorrow you'll go to the studio and you'll probably want to have finished the song by then." Lennie strokes his cheeks as he rests his hands on her plump thighs.

"I can't do that with the image of you naked in bed in my head, bunny." She sighs catching her bottom lip in her teeth.

"Well...maybe if you finish early we can do something in the bedroom." She smiles before leaning down to kiss his mouth.

Harry doesn't waste the opportunity to make the kiss last a little longer and turns it dirty again in a matter of seconds. His slippery hands are already once again cupping his girlfriend's ass. It makes Lennie laugh but he's too focused to notice.

"I love you so much, petal." He says in the middle of the kiss, his breathing slightly labored and his shorts on the verge of bursting. "And you make me so fucking hard."

She can't help but shiver in anticipation of being fucked by his hot boyfriend but she must hold her ground because she knows Harry has to work on the album after a couple of weeks of vacation.

"I love you too..." She gasps reaching for the brown curls but remembers she has them tied up in the black elastic band.

The image of Harry with his hair tied up makes her moan because it reminds her of the times he would do it to shove his face between her legs for hours or for the simple fact that it was too hot but either way he looked fucking hot.

Harry's ringtone makes them break apart as if Anne will walk in the door and see them in this embarrassing situation.

"It's Jeff." He says with his chest rising and falling. "I'll call him later..." He mumbles about to go back to what they were doing seconds before.

"Pick up, honey. It must be something important for him to call on a Sunday afternoon." She laughs in agitation and somehow thanks him mentally because she doesn't think she's resisted another minute without giving in.

The Brit gives in without even grumbling and answers the call, which turns out to be a simple reminder to go to the studio early the next day and ask about her weekend.

"Okay, bye man. Take care" He hangs up and returns his sight to his girlfriend.

"You look hot when you talk on the phone." It's the first thing out of her mouth when their eyes connect.

"And the horny teenager is me, right?" He raises an eyebrow as he smirks.

"Shut up and take me to the bedroom, Styles."

"Your wish is my command, your highness." Harry mutters before kissing her mouth shortly and grabbing her by the thighs to head upstairs.

Lennie loves it when he ties his hair up.

If you're currently taking prompts, I was wondering if you would take one that tackles the above quote from book-Jon's thoughts. While he thinks highly of atypical and unique females like Ayra or Val, his misogynistic views of women who adhered to the rules of his society (by choice or otherwise) need to go! Time period of your choice/doesn't have to be bookverse.

I'll be honest, anon - is Jon actually any more misogynistic than the rest of Westeros? Baseline everyone is, because the society they live in is.

This prompt came in back when I requested them (like half a year ago, oops) and I've come back to it every once in a while, but could never really think of a way to turn this into a story that wasn't just Jon sitting there and thinking the things I'm about to write. So instead, I'm just writing my thoughts lmao.

I'm gonna put it all under the cut, because I don't normally do this sort of thing (aka, give my thoughts on canon in a not-story way. I don't like discourse, so I'm placing this under the cut & not tagging it to hopefully avoid that.)

Now, I'm no book scholar, I haven't studied them and parsed through them, I don't read a lot of metas (sorry!) and I actually read the books years ago, so maybe I'm completely wrong here, but I always took that willowy creature line as Jon being a shitty teen boy and trying to pretend he doesn't want the thing he wants. Jon's other thought at this moment is "a warrior princess, he decided" - which is just him... coming up with Val’s whole personality despite not really knowing her. He’s thinking in generics & story tropes in this moment. Willowy creature. Warrior princess.

I also think Jon's admiration for "unique females" is less active misogyny and more him... sort of taking Arya's side? Because doesn't Arya 'hate' feminine girls, too? Arya doesn't fit into that role and because of that, she ends up resenting it (which, to me, is absolutely something a young girl would do. I did it. I went through my not like other girls faze). So of course Jon, who adores Arya and wants to protect her and feels a kinship with her as the two "outcast" Starks, would also take that on. Plus, if you think about it, the only real ladies he would have ever interacted with would be Catelyn (who didn't love him the way he wanted her to) and Sansa (who at some point, kept her distance). Every other reference point he'd have is either from a distance, or from stories. You also have his role model, good ol' Ned Stark, who is amused by Arya's "boyish" behaviors, then gives his "girly" daughter a doll because that's what girls like, right? No matter she's too old for it. And Robb "My Sisters Aren't Worth Trading For" Stark.

But Jon doesn't actually hate willowy creatures, if we're equating that with feminine women. He thinks of Sansa fondly enough, he wants to give Ygritte flowers from the glass gardens, he loves that Ygritte loves songs. When he thinks about his mother, he wants her to be a lady. He wants to be Lord of Winterfell. He wants a lady wife and children. I think that the willowy creatures line is based less in actual hatred for feminine women, and more a way for him to pretend it's not what he wants, because he thinks he can never have it.

I think we can also look at willowy creatures another way, in that Jon doesn't respect people who don't use their own agency, or are too cowardly to stand up for themselves/others. But that doesn't necessarily apply to feminine women? Look at Cat, who fought off an assassin and helped her son wage a war and 'saws through' a guy's throat when Robb was killed (thanks asoiaf wiki for that description). It doesn't even really apply to Sansa, who is one of the more passive characters, action-wise. But she stands up to and manipulates Joffrey into not killing Dontos, doesn't bend for Tyrion to cloak her, and runs away with Dontos despite not having a guarantee of her safety.

And the fact that he repeatedly denies Stannis because "Winterfell belongs to my sister Sansa" tells me he doesn't actually think less of women who follow traditional roles. If he did, he could easily think Sansa wouldn't be able to handle it, or doesn't deserve it because she's a woman.

Now, like I said, I'm no book scholar, so maybe there's some other point where Jon's like "women are stupid and useless" but I'm not remembering them.

TL;DR: Jon is a teenage boy who grew up in a misogynistic society, who has one negative thought about a generic willowly creature, but when he actually knows women, seems to respect them well enough

Sorry anon, I know this was supposed to be a writing prompt, I just couldn't make it into an actual story. But I still had thoughts about it. clearly lol

now, if anyone disagrees with me on any of this, that's fine! This is just my opinion and conclusions I've come to, all while having a very pro-Jon and pro-Jonsa bias (and as someone who spent most of their child/teen years resenting the color pink and pop music and girly girls, only to grow up and realize I like all of those things, along with my grunge music and horror movies and questionable taste in fashion)

Draw Down the Moon review

3.5/5 stars Recommended if you like: younger YA, magic schools, chosen one, childhood friends to lovers

Big thanks to Netgalley, the authors, and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

So...this book reads very young. And like it was written by someone in middle school. I could go on and on about how young the characters read and how they interact with each other the way no human being interacts with other people, but I'll keep this brief. These characters are all supposed to be 18, yet almost every single one of them reads like they're 12. I had to put the book down several times because of how absolutely ridiculous some of the things they said were. They also 100% do not dress like high schoolers. No high schooler is going to be caught dead in the kind of 'funny' slogan t-shirts these kids wear on the regular.

Another thing that made me put the book down was the fact that there's a Japanese character who...randomly responds in Japanese to people who don't speak Japanese. That IS NOT HOW CODE SWITCHING WORKS!!! Also, Cast gets some of the Japanese wrong, particularly in regards to respect registers, though that's of course hard to fit in when the character 'speaking' Japanese only ever uses one word at a time.

Moving on, the premise of the book rests on the 'chosen one' trope, and Wren is extra special since her powers don't quite fit the traditional categories. For most of the book Wren reads like a middle schooler, which I think she should've been and then the whole book could've been MG instead of YA, but whatever. However, there are certain points in which she acts more mature and behaves like one would expect an 18-year-old to. I'm...not really sure what her character arc is. She's very loyal to her friends, and she wants to solve the mystery of what's going on, but that's about it. While there's not really any character development going on with her, she does have a lot going on and her I'm-actually-12-in-an-18-year-old-body behavior/attitude does make her POV interesting to read.

Lee actually has a more solid character foundation, imo. He wants to uphold his family's high expectations while also honoring his sister's memory. This, naturally, leads him to do things that he thinks his sister would've done, regardless of it's something he wants. These familial expectations have, apparently, turned him from a mischief-maker like Wren into a rule-follower. His blind obedience to the rules gets kind of annoying when it's obvious there's something wrong going on at the academy. Instead, he's just like la-di-da, we should tell an authority figure (even though they're acting suspiciously). At least that's in character for him though, so I can't fault it too much even if it's annoying. That being said, while I think Lee is a stronger character, he's rather boring, and he actually acts incel-y for a portion of the book. He thinks Wren is telling him to date someone else and since she doesn't return his (unspoken) feelings, he decides to ghost her. And then somehow everyone thinks this is her fault.

Sam is really the only other character who gets enough page time for us to know. Luke, Lily, and Ruby are just kind of...there. Sam is Wren's other BFF and also has that weird mix of immature and normal-18yo. Her entrance is literally her belting the opening song from Beauty and the Beast in front of a crowd of people she just met, solely in order to say 'hi' to Wren. Luckily, Sam has smarts to her and that mostly makes up for her entrance. She's able to help Wren with the mystery and is good at making leaps that help. She's also fiercely protective of Wren.

Probably my biggest issue with this novel aside from the immaturity of the characters, is the fact that the dialogue is exposition. It's literally the embodiment of that Tumblr post talking about bad exposition "morning sis, remember how our parents are dead," is basically how things work in this novel. There are moments when things are explained through showing, so I'm not sure why so much of it is told unnecessarily through dialogue.

The ending also did not wow me. The whole book is spent building up to this moment and then after some action, things just fizzle out. Wren I think gets a magical transformation into a 20-year-old (??) and also a hair dye job (??). Somehow Wren leaves the school and I'm just very confused about the whole thing. I think Cast could've easily made this a standalone and wrapped everything up in this book, particularly if the exposition was delivered a little more smoothly.

He wasn't supposed to even be at this wedding, Dane had made that clear as day prior to it ever happening. He'd come to see Terry personally, telling him that if he showed up he was going to wish he hadn't. But Terry knew... oh he knew that there was nothing Dane could actually do to stop him from going. Charlie wanted him there, Charlie wanted him to play his trumpet for at least a single song for some lamenting goodbye. She'd given him options on what to play, options that would fit with everything else-- but she was explicit that he not go off the rail and showed up sober.

Sober.

That was harder than he admitted as of recent... actually since Charlie got engaged. Truth be told he was doing miserable, but he'd been leaning more into Iggy than her. Trying to distance himself, but also try to let her focus on this. She wanted this, right? She wanted to marry Dane and spend the rest of her fucking life with the guy. Good for her. Why shouldn't she? What did Terry have to fucking offer but a long line of drugs that ran through his system? Yes he made money, yes he was successful. But right? He was far from that.

He shouldn't have gone to the wedding.

He showed up after the ceremony despite the invitation and he made sure the bride had no idea he was even there. He greeted the DJ, ignoring the way anyone looked at him. He introduced himself and was told that Terry was said to be a no show, 'Well you know how it is? Music is unpredictable.' It was squared away faster than he thought it'd be, but eventually he was taking to the stage that was setup for the speeches to be made. He walked up to the mic, the DJ giving a quick motion to garner everyone's attention.

Terry, trumpet in hand, grabbed the mic while blues scanned until they found Charlie sat at the table with Dane. He could see Dane fuming from here, but the look on Charlie's face-- the shock there. It twisted something in them. He began to speak, "Charlie, Dane. I know we have differences, I know we don't really see eye to eye at times... but that doesn't change what I have to say about this." He paused, looking around then back to them, "And I'll be honest, I have nothing to say to him-- this is for you, Charlie. Every single thing I have to say is to you, Char. I know what I've done to you in the past, how I've acted and treated you... you don't deserve any of that. I know you cared more for me than I ever deserved myself. You have always been there for me and on this day? This one day where I should be able to support you-- I... "

He swallowed a breath, nervously stuttering out the next part, "I... I want to play you a song because even if I can't say what I have to at the end... I think it'll say it all." Terry brought his trumpet up to play, eyes shutting as he focused on the song playing. The Way You Look Tonight slipping out of the brass instrument like it was made to play the song. He knew he had the room's attention with the words he spoke alone, but this was bringing it altogether in a way that had people murmuring. They weren't blind.

He finished the song after a few minutes, lowering the trumpet and opening his blues to look over at her. He held a somber look as he said his next piece with a near burn to his eyes, "I love you, Charlie. I'm sorry I never said it before." He let that hang in the air, gasps and murmurs breaking out in every corner. He looked around the room before exiting, stepping off the stage quickly to get his trumpet back in its case. He needed to go. He couldn't stay here. Not with the looks and certainly not after that.

Dane would want his blood-- maybe Charlie would too. He couldn't be sure. He just knew he didn't want to risk staying for long.

So this technically isn't me writing a one-shot. But this song came on the radio the other day and honestly. A lot of the lyrics fit them. Hear me out. Come on this journey with me. Warning of NSFW.

Before I start, I absolutely color-coded the lyrics.

"I caught it bad yesterday.

You hit me with a call to your place.

Ain't been out in a while anyway.

Was hoping I could catch you throwing smiles in my face"

This is just Crowley. Crowley had gotten into a fight the day before and got a call from Aziraphale inviting him either over or to dine out somewhere. The "Was hoping I could catch you throwing smiles in my face" part could either be Crowley thinking how he wanted to see his angel smile after their little dinner date or Crowley thinking this as he's driving to Azriaphale's book store.

"Romantic talking? You don't even have to try.

You're cute enough to fuck with me tonight

Looking at the table, all I see is weed and white

Baby, you living the life, but baby, you ain't livin' right."

The first two lines I see from Crowley's perspective. He's, obviously, thinking about Aziraphale and how much and what he feels for the angel.

The third line could be from either side. I see it more as Aziraphale in Crowley's flat and seeing, well, weed and white. Then the fourth line being Crowley's response to the taken aback Aziraphale. Crowley probably thinks that Aziraphale is living the life because he's still an angel, Aziraphale hasn't fallen. But, let's be completely honest, Azriaphale would see the stuff on the table and would try to reprimand Crowley for these things.

The first two lines are obviously Aziraphale. He knows and sees the things that Crowley does and is coming to terms with the fact that he has feelings for Crowley, a demon.

The last two lines show Crowley as unfazed by his living style in comparison to Aziraphale's.

Sectioning off the song by stanza kind of cuts the continuity of some of the lyrics so I put these two together. So the last line of the first stanza and the enitre second one remind me of the times where Aziraphale was worried about what his head office would think about them being together. The lines strike me as something Crowley would say to reassure Aziraphale. Also, as far as I'm aware, it's a recurring thing that Aziraphale calls Crowley a lot. Whether it be for help, or he's bored, Aziraphale's go to is Crowley.

"I wanna sell what you're buying

I wanna feel on your ass in Hawaii

I want that jet lag from fucking and flying

Shoot a child in your mouth while I'm riding"

I'm not going to really make a connection here other than the third line. The "fucking and flying" part absolutely inspired another prompt (it'll come after this one) out of me. No spoilers as to what it is.

"Oh, oh, oh, why me?

A sign of the times every time that I speak

A dime and a nine, it was mine every week

What a time, an incline, God was shining on me

Now I can't leave

And now I'm acting hella elite

Never want the ones that's in my league

I wanna fuck the ones I envy, I envy"

I also put these two together because these stanzas are all in Aziraphale's perspective. He has to report to his head office and is wondering, you know, why him. He probably feels trapped by the expectations of God. Aziraphale has to act all high and mighty around Crowley cause he's supposed to be an angel, someone who is more elite than Crowley. Aziraphale doesn't love another angel, someone in his league, but a demon. Someone he might envy because they have more freedom than him perhaps?

The rest of the song is stanzas I've already covered. But I heard this song and it clicked for me. I had to write it down and I'm hoping it makes sense to other people.

Also, don't take this too seriously. I don't know much of the show because I haven't finished it. I'm halfway through season 1 but I've had spoilers for it already.

Its been awhile since I've been on here but with season 5 starting i have a lot churning in my mind.

Firstly while I can understand peoples love for a friendship between El and Mike theres alot about it that just annoys me. People keep saying that Mike and El arent fit for each other and Mike is holding El back but I dont necessarily agree. Mike knows El's favorite song, food, and generally what she feels however El knows next to nothing about Mike. What little Mika actually likes aboit himself she tears down and makes fun of like his singing. Anyone else notice he doesn't sing again after that. El's letter is also all about hows things are going for her but she necer asks how Mike is, in reality the only people who really ask how he is would be Will and his mom. I find it very interesting that it was never specified whose idea it was to lie about curfew during the summer. Setting aside the fact that El moat likely knows something is up between him and Will, I get the feeling she leans more towards Will liking Mike than seeing Mike's feelings. They would make good friends if they could ever get around to just being themselves together. Mike does have a tendecy to push her concerning her powers when Wills concerned but when he blurted out he loved her i bet he was thinking more about what they palnned to do. El intended to spy on the shadow monster she was doing what Will had done eight months prior. What mosy people forget is Mike was the only kid who was really in the lab when the dogs attacked. Will was knocked unconscious and the rest were adults. To make it worse Mike literally saw people get ripped apart by the dogs on the cameras. Lucas, Dustin, El, Max, Steve, even Jonathan and Nancy didnt actually see people get ripped apart. Im syre somewhere Will has memories of it but Mike saw it in real time, he stepped over the bodies I'm sure that messed him up real bad and here they were planning to do the same thing using El's powers. Mike didnt even looked very surprised when the monster came after them, he probably expected it. No one even asks Mike why he refused they just keep saying he's trying to control El. I would have been more surpirised if Mike didnt snap and yell something to get their attention. He most likely meant he loved her just wasnt in love with her. He lost her once he knew how it felt.

Jonathan's hostility towards Mike was also a bit uncalled for. While I understand his need to protect Will the only thing Mike did that Jonathan knows about is his awkward hello at the airport. Other than that even after Mike and Will make up Jonathan still glares at him. With how close Mike and Will are theres no way Jonathan doesn't know Mike very well. Lets be honest Jonathan was the one to respond with Will's with Mike when others looked for him. Jonathan also knew to use Will's wakey to get ahold of Mike when they were running from the lab guys. Out of all people I believe Jonathan is one of the only people to figure out Mike's feelings for Will along with Max.

When watching the 4th season I noticed Mike was the only one Max didn't fight with or be sarcastic she even chose to stand next to him at the assembly. I also find it highly interesting Max knew where paper and crayons were in the Wheeler household. Lets be honest as many drawings as she made she was most likely up before Ted or Karen, I don't Molly told her and Nancy defentely didnt know considering she freaked out when Max disappeared. I noticed when she handed the letters to Lucas she said Mike's name first not El, she also keeps Mike instead of Michael when saying she wouldnt stay in the basement. Hell she didnt even have to say Mike at all she could have said the Wheelers basement but she specifies Mike. Honestly out of anyone who would understand her feelings and self hatred Mike takes the cake. I'm not saying that their the same person different verse just that their very similar. Max suprisingly enough defended Mike against Lucas over the summer and didnt automatically blame Mike when the curfew incident happened she stated they had been that way all summer.

To be perfectly honest Mike was the only one she went out of her way to be friends with even after he buffed her several times. When Lucas wouldnt tell her the whole truth she got mad and stopped talking to him, when Dustin was mean to her she brushed him off, Will never really had a problem, El completely ignored her and was mean when they first met but she didnt chase her instead El came to her later. Mike was the only one who was completely hostile and she never let up, she wanted to know why he didnt like her and kept trying to talk to him again and again. One of her favorite memories that made her happy when fighting off Vecna was that day in the gym when she got Mike to laugh. Mike chose not to ask her to play DND most likely knowing she wouldn't want to. He doesn't pester her about how she's feeling or whats wrong. He even sat next to her in class and the look on his face when her nose started bleeding. I personally think they grew closer but their natural sarcasm and attitude towards each other makes them seem far more distant than they are. Despite Mikes blatant dislike for Max in the beginning not even he could stop from sming when he saw her note in the trash. I especially love when their a sassy duo.

I love that Dustin and Mike stayed together in highschool even though he had Eddie and Steve while Lucas had basketball but its sad that Dustin completely missed Mike's feelings for Will. Dustin once accussed Mime of being unobservant in the first season but lets be honest he's the most observant not least. Mike didnt even yell at him for what Dart did to his cat while Lucas chewed him out. Mike of all people had the right to be mad at both Lucas and Dustin for breaking the rules but he doesn't yell at either of them he just focuses on Will and losing Bob. Dustin also doesnt ask Mike what he's thinking or hows he's doing he just kinda blames him in his own way but still sides with him.

The fact that both Lucas and Dustin condeem him for being nice to El when he was just showing basic human decency. He also knew she was connected to Will and that was more than enough for him to play nice. I know that Mike drew first blood and many think it was his fault and Lucas had a point but honestly I think Lucas deserved it. Now dont get me wrong I love Lucas but he could be very self obsssed and a genuine jerk sometimes. When El and Mike broke up Mike didnt ask for Lucas's help in fixing his relationship but Lucas volunteered without actually Mike how he felt. Granted Mike was lying about why he lied but he had a tendency to give into what other people tell him. Everyone told him his feelings for El were more than friendship simply because he was nice to her not actually taking his denial into consideration just more proof. Mike and Lucas spent most of their time talking to each other over walkeys because they lived so close thats why he got so jealous over his friendship with El but they never actually just talk. Mike may get grumpy about Max in the beginning but he did listen to Lucas when he talked about her. Mike tries to be understanding for the most part.

I dont even want to start with Nancy mind you she's amazing, strong, smart and for the most part a good person but her relationship with Mike is very strained. You'd think having another person who understood what it felt like to lose their bestfriend in the same house would have lead to more talks and closeness but it didnt even accur to Nancy that Will would be with Mike where he generally is. While i get Nancy is older and has her own ambitions its like shes just leaving Mike to fend for himself. She needed Jonathans comforting when she saw the Demagorgan eating the deer but after the lab and the sheer number of people Mike watched die vetween it and El there was no comforting. Proof of that was when she got out of the car and hugged him because she was worried. Mike wad genuinely perplexed because it wasnt their usual relationship.I'm sure they've gotten better and maybe a little closer since Mike considered asking Nancy to play DND and she gave him a ride to school plus their blantant annoyance with their inability to get ahold of the Byers but theres still distance.

Mike relationship with Will would take a completely different tyraid. What I find concerning is Mime has a perpetual tendency to be sassy both to his friends and family but even more so to the people around him. He was never afraid to be himself in the beginning no matter how that turned out for him but he began digging even deeper into his self after Will's possesion. Eddie even pointed out he had to draw Mike out which probably had to do with Will not being there but he tends not to give into bullying for the most part in the beginning. While in season five we see Will being more open with who he is, El struggling without her powers and her identity, Jonathan not wanting to leave his family, Nancy's distance issues with Jonathan and her determination in helping, Robin and Steve have become very close with Steves uncomfortableness of losing Dustin to Eddie. Dustin has managed to spend time with Mike, have a girlfriend, bounce between Steve and Eddie all while keeping his head on straight. Lucas is desperate to get Max to open up to him and get through the day with horrible bullies. Max is drowning in grief and guilt and then theres Mike who for the most part looks after everyone else and keeps everything about himself hidden away. Man for the most part is the defenition of self sacrificing. He stepped off a cliff ledge not knowong El would save him for crying out loud. Tended to shield both Jonathan and Will during the shooting at the house, was willing to head off a Demagorgan to protecr El and everyone else. Very rarely does he save himself simply for himself its usually to protect someone else.

I'm so sorry for taking another three weeks break. I was supposed to review the Travis Scott album bomb, but I really can't do album bomb week I'll be honest with you. Therefore, I'm going to limit the album bomb for at least the two highest charting songs on the album. And just for this episode, I'm gonna combined this week and the week before because I think it's at least interesting enough to talk about. No number on the chart this time so let's go on with it.

"Bad Idea Right?" by Olivia Rodrigo

When the songlists from Olivia's sophomore album came out I was like "oh god she's getting too cathy with it." Well with this song I was wrong. There's a lot of witty and clever lines with the attitude of your average Gen Z that could fit in the 90's very well. I love the guitar solo too.

"MI EX TENIA RAZON" by Karol G

It's nice that we have a lot of variety in the latin music scene nowadays that we get a cumbia song by the biggest female latin pop singer still working today. Love the nods for Selena. May she rest in peace.

"QLONA" by Karol G ft. Peso Pluma

This is probably the best Peso Pluma has sounded. Who knew that when you have the best reggaeton producer working today Ovy On The Drum that you would mixed better and sounded better than any of your songs.

"Holanda" by Jhayco

Fun fact: the Dutch government has phased out the usage of Holland when calling the country Netherlands because they want other tourists to visit the other provinces. Anyways this song is alright.

"Fast Forward" by JEON SOMI

I think with how absent US is in this chart, we'll get more songs from countries and languages that I didn't listened to as much or wouldn't expect to find. Now with Kpop it's a bit different since Billboard added Melon (A South Korean music app), which means we'll get a lot of kpop songs from less well known act. Like JEON SOMI with her house influenced song that sounded not out of place from late 2019 house.

"Automotivo Bibi Fogosa" by Bibi Babydoll, Dj Brunin XM, KZA Produções

You know...it's a matter of time that the gigachad meme would be sampled...but as a Brazilian Funk song????? That's new.

"Fast Car" by Luke Combs

I think Luke Combs really filled out the space that Hootie & The Blowfish used to occupy but did it better. I think him doesn't care about charting hits is what I love about this guy. Listen to "Doin' This" y'all after you got introduced by him from this cover.

"With You" by AP Dhillon

So apparently there's too many trends happening all at once that the trend of Punjabi music from Canadian artists just flew me by and I can say that I like this trend. I grew up with a lot of Indian movies and idk something about this song really screamed modern while the vocal melody exude tradition.

"Prada" by casso ft. RAYE & D-Block Europe

This is actually my first full listen to D-Block Europe but I can tell that they don't fit in this song. Though this song is kinda hollow.

"Heeriye" by Arijit Singh, Dulquer Salmaan, Jasleen Royal

You know how I said about "With You" that the song sounds like a modern reinterpretation of an Indian movie soundtrack? Well this is like almost the exact same thing but it's actually from an Indian movies. Modern production still works within the context of Bollywood movies.

"Better Things" by aespa

The next three songs are kpop songs with some degree of intrigued. We'll start with the least intriguing one with a new song by aespa. All I can describe from this song is that it's clunky and for aespa that marketed itself with bombastic grandiose stuff, this song just doesn't do it for me.

"Killin' Me Good" by JIHYO

You know, when you are the leader of TWICE, I thought that there's more fan fare for this song. But alas this is not as successful as some people thought. Kinda unfortunate because this song slaps so hard.

"KIDDING" by ISEGYE IDOL

This is the sole reason I'm back making this episode because this is kinda momentus. This is the first time a vtuber idol group have ever charted in any Billboard chart...I think ever? Tbh separate the fact that the singers here are all vtubers...this song is just a standard Gen 3 kpop idol songs but with more higher pitch because kawaii?

"ITALODISCO" by The Kolors

Yeah this song is definitely an homage to italodisco...what I wanna to add here?

I highly recommend everyone to listen to these songs!

Andy's stomach churned when he sees you. In a very good way. It's been a good two years since the break up and he can barely believe that he's seeing you right then and there— in the corner of the cafe that Andy knows you love going to. Your voice made his heart flip. It's so goddamn beautiful and Andy misses it so damn much.

He doesn't even know why he's so stunned at the sight of you. It's the only reason why he's there— why he's always going there almost every weekend, hoping to get a glimpse of you sometime. You're in the fuzzy, furry jacket that you're always wearing on chilly days, your hair pulled up with a claw clip and your laptop right in front of you with a cup of coffee right by the side.

He tried to get over you, he really did. But even after all the women he met after you, no one made him feel the same way you did. The butterflies in his stomach he gets just talking to you like some teenager, or how his heart just flutters when you smiled at him with that beautiful grin.

Andy couldn't help but look at you every two minutes, while he's waiting in the queue for his turn. He's thinking of what to say if he even has the guts to walk up to you and say hi.

The break up wasn't necessarily bad... it was mutual. Kinda. You were in the middle of your studies and you just wanted to focus on doing well and getting your masters. It's not that Andy was a distraction— really, he actually helped a lot. But between studying and trying to make sure you don't abandon Andy, you realised that taking a break would be good for the both of you.

You were young, only 24 while Andy was 14 years older than you are. He's so mature and wise that you just felt that you just wanted to grow as your own person before you and Andy took it any further and got more serious. You thought that you'd work on yourself, fixing up your flaws and make yourself just grow into a better version of yourself. And as much as Andy disagreed, he didn't want to force you to keep being with him. He thought that maybe, you both could just grow as time passes, and that you can change right next to him.

But he just agreed with you, because he definitely does not want to pressure you into being in a relationship with him no matter how much he actually wants you to stay with him. So technically, it was a mutual break-up to you. But he didn't really feel the same.

And unsurprisingly, Andy simply cannot get over you. Two years passed, and he just wishes that you're by his side again.

"Hi! What can I get for you?"

Andy snaps out of his trance, stepping towards the cashier and ordering his coffee to-go with a bagel as well. He takes a quick glance at you before he decides to change his mind. "Actually— I'll just have those here."

Wait— you recognise that voice.

You instantly glance up from the screen of your laptop, watching the familiar back and broad shoulders standing at the cashier. Holy fuck- Andy?

Your gaze turns back down to your laptop, your mind trying to decide between approaching him or just letting him go... again... like you did 2 years ago. He still fits into those polo tees like a glove, the jeans barely doing his ass justice but it really accentuates his goddamn thighs.

Fuck. Two damn years and you still have it bad for him.

"Can I join?" Andy glances down at some blueprint or floor-plan thing you have on your laptop. "Unless I'm interrupting— you look busy."

"Andy—" You turned to him and back to the opened floor-plan on the screen. "No, no. Hey-" You lowered the screen and put it aside, leaving some space for Andy. You gestured at him to join you in the booth.

Andy takes up the offer, setting the cup in his hand and the bagel right in front of you before he slides in. "Hey,"

You let out a breathy laugh as you look at him, fidgeting with your fingers underneath the table. "Been a long time."

"Yeah," He nods, offering you one of his adorable smiles as he rests his forearms on the table. "I stopped seeing you around, thought you moved away."

"I thought you did— till I heard the news talking about one of your cases." You retort, lips curling into a soft smile. "How've you been, Andy?"

"Same old, y'know. Long hours at the office and takeout nights. Nothing really changed." Andy grins, "How's everything goin' for ya?"

Oh— and he definitely isn't wrong when he said 'nothing really changed'. For this 40-year-old man to still look like the Andrew Stephen Barber you met like 4 years ago? Phew.

"Uhm- pretty good! I'm uh- I just signed a contract with Perkins and Will."

Andy's lips curled into a wide grin. "You did it!"

He remembers?

Your head tilts as you look at him. "You remember?"

"Of course, hon. That's your dream firm." He reaches over table and pats your hand. "I'm happy for you, Y/n."

"Thank you, Andy," You brush a hand through your hair, eyeing Andy in his whole polo tee and jeans glory. "I'm surprised you aren't working on a Saturday morning,"

Andy lets out a laugh at your words, "Yeah- I just thought, y'know. Uh- I'm old enough to stop being such a workaholic."

You raised a brow at that, "Andy, you aren't old." You give him a suggestive glance as your eyes trace his whole figure. "Definitely don't look like it."

"I'll say the same thing for ya, Y/n." Andy didn't bother hiding his gaze either, eyes trailing down your body till it's back up to your face. "Two damn years and you still look as gorgeous as ever, sweetheart."

A breathy laugh leaves your lips. "Always as flattering as ever, Mr Barber."

"You know I'm an honest person, sweetheart." Andy winks before he takes a sip of his coffee.

You hum as you run your finger on the edge of your own cup. "I remember you telling me that all lawyers are really good liars."

You love how familiar this feels. It's like nothing has changed and both of you are back in 2019. Good, good days. Letting Andy go was a dumb move on your side, you realised that pretty soon after the break-up. You should've known that you and Andy would've made it work someway, somehow.

"C'mon, honey. Y'know I can never lie to you." The wide smile he has on his lips is as charming as ever and god if it doesn't just make you fall in love again- as if you ever fell out of love with him in the first place. Andy clears his throat, a hand inching to the back of his neck and softly rubbing the spot. You instantly realised that he's a little nervous. "You dating anyone?"

You let out an almost silent snort, scoffing at his question. "Ya think? I just called you hot five minutes ago, handsome."

Andy takes a bite of his bagel, looking up at you through those goddamn long eyelashes as his mouth moves to chew the food and those fucking pink lips making you stare at him like a horny teenager.

"You've got to stop staring at me like that, sweetheart." He warns, but the glint in his eyes is telling you that he really doesn't mind you staring him up like that.

Your brows raised immediately in defence. "Like what?"

You tried your best to fight the grin fighting its way to form on your lips. But Andy is a goddamn lawyer, after all. He knows his shit and he knows that you're just being a tease.

He huffs, brow arched as he looks at you. "Like you wanna eat me." He replies shortly, lips curling into a smirk. "Cause I was planning to take this slow after 2 whole years. And you aren't helping."

You hum, picking your cup up and taking a sip from it, hiding the grin forming on your lips behind the cup. "You can still wine and dine me if you wanna." You set the cup down and lean forward, head tilted to one side with your head resting in your palm. "But y'know, I'm pretty impatient."

Andy laughs, backing away from you and resting back against his seat. "Guess it's good that I've got enough patience for both of us, huh?"

You laugh at his words. "We'll see, Mr Barber."

He takes your words as an invite to ask you out. "Dinner tonight? My place."

You playfully rolls your eyes, ignoring the little flutter in your heart. "Who's impatient now?"

"It's a yes or no question, sweetheart."

"Still that cute little loft?"

"I'll text you my new address later."

You couldn't fight the grin forming on your lips. "It's a date."

He was at the grocery store when he pulled out his phone and goes to your contact to shoot you a text. It has always been there, saved and never deleted. He didn't want to get rid of the hope that he might have you back.

Andy: 242 Warren St [sent 3.24pm]

Andy: See you tonight, sweetheart. [sent 3.25pm]

You didn't reply so Andy just assumed that you read it. He's looking forward to seeing you again tonight and he's excited.

It wasn't till you got home that you realised that Andy doesn't have your new number.

Hey!!! Thanks for giving me the perfect excuse to ramble about my favorite necromancer boy 🥰

Favorite thing about them: Can I say everything? He’s just such a great character! I love his sense of humor, how kind he is, and how smart he is! He can be a bit of a flirty airhead, but that’s what makes him so charming! Did I mention the cool glowey red eyes? He can turn from sweet to dangerous when he needs to. Oh, but he has such a big heart, perhaps a little too big for his body. I both admire him for his strength and just wanna wrap a blanket around him ❤️❤️❤️

Least favorite thing about them: Oh, dear. He’s too giving 🥺💔. I wish he knew that it doesn't always have to be him to be the one to sacrifice and that he could learn to share his burdens. I know it’s incredibly hard for him to do something like that because it’s never been in his nature to let go. He has to be strong. Has to be brave. Has to be always smiling. Always the one to take the blame, always the defender, always going to extremes to fix things. I know this is a product of his upbringing and his surroundings. He was a teenager suddenly thrown into war after the death of nearly his entire clan. I don’t know if there was another way around this, I’m not sure if speculating would be of much use. What I do know, is that at the end of his first life, after everything wwx did, after learning about how he died, I kept thinking to myself: “It’s too much. No one should have to give so much.”

Favorite line: “But from now on, what you say to me, what you do for me, I’ll remember it all—I won’t forget a single thing! I really like you, Lan Zhan. I love you, I want you, I fancy you, I whatever you. I want to night-hunt with you for the rest of my life.” Basically his entire speech from Chapter 100 ❤️

BROTP: Okay. I know there’s a lot of people I could choose who would fit this role better, like Wen Ning or Wen Qing, my beloved. But if I’m being honest! If I'm being truthful! My answer would be Jiang Cheng (Plz don’t throw a pitchfork at me 🥲). And I get it. Maybe these two brothers are destined to just go their separate ways. Maybe there isn’t a timeline where these two can ever be happy around each other. But idc. I just can’t let go of the idea that the love is still there, buried, smothered, quiet, but there. I know that some things can’t be forgotten and things may never be how they once were; there were many flaws in their relationship, so I wouldn’t want them to go back to being the same. But I choose to believe that with time, even if it’s at a very slow pace, wwx and jc can reach a new state of being. Where they can learn how to just talk to each other again. About the small things. About the memories that aren’t painful. About Jin Ling. And maybe then, and only then, would they begin to heal and close the gap, one tiny step at a time.

OTP: Y'all know who it is! I don’t have more to say about them because the book has already given me all that I wanted! They’re the heart of the story and my favorite ship ❤️

NOTP: Any ship that is not Wangxian. I’m not really a big multi-shipper. I find a ship I like best, latch onto it, and then crinkle my nose at the idea of them being shipped with someone else lol.

Random Headcanon: I think he has a music brain and would easily be able to pick up a new instrument! I could also easily see him writing and singing songs :)

WARNINGS: swearing, pretend all the boys go to the same school and they're all friends for plot, normalize not writing serious boys as someone that practically hates their s/o and never opens up to them god bless, also no such thing as ooc since we dunno shit ab him so everything i say is law. SUPER LONG LOL, it's like 2k+ words 😭

A/N: i love my boyfriend and i'm v happy about all the attention he's getting (even if he will prob will b subbed out 👎) this was fun to write bc i think he would b very soft as bf and also i hate the notion that stoic and serious = boring and detached in a relationship. also first post w the new user yayyyy rip yoichisagis an end of an era for realsies.

FOR: fox anon my beloved this one is for u😩

it takes a while for you two to get together, just because niko wants to think things through and be sure he’s making the right decision, as well as him being naturally apprehensive about this whole dating thing.

when you do eventually start going out, keep in mind you're probably his first real anything, so-

niko needs to take it slow for the first month or so because he needs time to adjust and get used to being in a relationship.

when he gets comfortable around you, niko starts to talk a lot more.

niko starts to talk about his interests more-soccer, stem stuff (idc i'll die by my hc that he's a stem boy), etc. and niko's really happy that you're genuinely interested in what he has to say :)

and as your relationship progresses, niko becomes more inclined to share his inner thoughts.

“this song is so bad, i hate it and how it's everywhere,” like, babe that sucks, but what do you want me to do, take it off the radio myself? 😭

you find out that niko’s kind of a hater LOL, but it’s okay, because it means he can be himself around you <3 and the mini debates you have with each other are fun.

he’s someone you can take shopping with you if you need a solid second opinion.

“ikki, is this cute?” you niko as you adjust the shirt you tried on in the fitting room mirror.

“no.” he’s so straight up LOL. “the blue one from earlier was better.”

“this one?”

“yeah, that one. you look really pretty in it.”

ngl though, niko’s not much of a mall person. he'd just follow you around like a little puppy LOL, but he doesn't mind too much because it's for you.

communication is important to niko!!!!! he wants someone that he can have real conversation about the things that matter to him, so he rly makes an effort to have that kind of connection with you.

niko's naturally funny but he isn't aware that he is lol.

but when he does try, i feel like his humor comes in the form of sarcasm and dry wit. likes poking fun at you here and there with a lighthearted jab.

"you're so weird, y/n," is the most common one.

niko’s naturally closed off emotionally (male aquarius 😒) but i, personally, think he’d really try and push himself to be more open with you, especially if you expressed for him to do so </3

he'd be really appreciative of someone patient and understanding of the fact that he doesn't open up easily, though.

but eventually, you become the person closest to him- niko confides in you a lot, which he’s grateful for because he usually holds everything in.

not one for pda or other lovey-dovey things in public, other than the occasional holding of hands but behind closed doors, niko’s so soft around you, it’s like he’s a completely different person.

also, i feel like niko’s real handsy with you, i get the vibe he’s super touch starved 😭

although it does take him a while to get used to physical affection, once he has, niko cannot get enough. he’s always touching you when he has no real reason to.

(and because you're his first relationship, i feel like it’s just natural that niko’s going to be kind of clingy towards you.)

“you okay, ikki?” you ask as niko suddenly wraps his arms around your waist from behind, resting his chin on your shoulder.

“mhm,” he mumbles. “just wanna be close to you.”

niko likes when you sit on his lap when he’s on his computer. you can have your arms wrapped around his neck, your head resting in the crook of his neck, or you could just be on your phone or whatever, it doesn’t matter, niko just likes you near him.

you guys don’t really talk to each other when you do this, aside from niko occasionally checking up on you and asking if you need anything from him.

but other than that, you guys just enjoy each other's touch in silence. it’s one of his favorite things to do with you.

however, if you start kissing him in the middle of whatever he’s doing and keep it up for long enough, niko will drop everything to make out with you right then and there (also one of his favorite things to do with you).

speaking of kissing- you kiss niko first.

niko would try to plan your guys first kiss out because he wants everything to be perfect.

but, he ends up taking forever to execute it because he keeps overthinking and you can only wait so long before kissing him, so you take matters into your own hands.

his kisses are sloppy and juvenile at the beginning, but he’s smart and learns quickly what you do and don’t like.

likes being kissed on his jaw and forehead the most :')

if the team ever happens to see niko kissing you, they're gonna be so annoying 😭

"yooo niko's making big moves ‼️" "my son's growing up on me!😩" "good job *pats on the back*" and niko is red all over as he drags you away from them, muttering about how childish and annoying they are 😭.

but, they're all very supportive of you guys, even if they're embarrassing as hell 🙄.

they even give niko relationship advice- which luckily, he doesn’t follow (most of the time), because, let’s be honest, if you're getting unsolicited dating tips from a bunch of teenage boys, it’s probably bad 😭.

you’re the only person niko shows his forehead to. just know that having the opportunity to see it means that niko trusts you more than anyone else :’)

repay his trust by kissing his forehead lovingly and showering him with compliments whenever you can !!!!!!!!!!

“y/n, why’re you so embarrassing,” niko says under his breath, blushing as you hold his face and litter soft kisses on his forehead, rambling about how cute he is.

always looks for you in the bleachers when he has a game and you’re always the first person he talks to after.

and the fact that you make an effort to come as often as you can means sooo much to him. definitely considers you to be his biggest fan.

real classy with nicknames- uses “my love/love,” and “darling,” the most.

his favorite petname from you is "pretty boy." gives him butterflies each time he hears it.

the first time you call him that, he's confused, but after you explain that being called pretty is basically the highest compliment a boy can receive, he gets all soft on you.

only uses instagram to like and comment on your pictures and that's it 😭.

comments stuff like “you're so pretty” and "beautiful," without any emojis because niko refuses to use them LOL.

remembers the compliments you give him! they help with his self esteem and i feel like he values your opinion a lot.

so, tell him all about how cute and smart and talented and hot and funny he is and how much you love him and he'll replay it in his head 24/7.

i think he prefers to be the big spoon, unless he's sad- then he really wants you to hold him.

niko gives me homebody vibes, so expect relaxed dates, but still nice, yk?

what i mean is niko's not gonna take you out to get gas station food and call it a day 😭 he's classier than that and he always puts in effort towards dates.

he always plans them ahead of time and takes into consideration what he thinks you'd enjoy. and he insists on paying 🤗.

but, niko always does something special for days like your birthday or an anniversary, like go somewhere fancy if you wanted to or buy a nice gift you've been eyeing for a while.

helps you with your schoolwork, 100%. most of the time niko tutors you because he wants you to actually learn the material, but if you're feeling lazy and just wanna get it over with, niko will just give you the answers.

this is a big deal because i love him and all but, niko gives me the vibe he's super stingy with his work 😭.

"this is the last time i'm going to just give you the answers, y/n." niko sighs out. "you have to start doing your homework by yourself."

niko's said that dozen of times but he's still giving you the answers free of charge. can you guys say #whipped 🤣?

LOL speaking of school, if you ever text him during class, i highly doubt that niko would entertain you 😭😭 (it's out of love, though)

"my eyelashes are ... cute?" he questions. niko wasn't even aware that such a trivial thing like his eyelashes could be considered cute.

"yes, oh my god," you gush. "they're so long and nice, i wish mine were like that," you groan, examining yours through the camera of your phone.

"you're so weird, y/n," he says, a blush staining his cheeks. "your eyelashes are nicer," he mumbles as he kisses your forehead.

he's one of those people that prefers to be alone, but you're the exception. you know?

niko likes to keep to himself most of the time, but that whole thing doesn't apply to you, because he'd choose to be with you over being alone anytime :')
