i can’t stop thinking about how hannibal took will’s coat in mizumono not fully knowing if they’ll ever meet again. hannibal bringing it to florence and holding it every night until he drifts to sleep where he dreams about will and how they should have escaped together. the aching want he feels everyday to touch will again, to smell him, hold him, feel every inch of him.

It’s so important to me that Hubert has these little tiny slivers of chances to show his soft side, and it’s equally important that Dorothea is one of the people he shows it to

Hubert comes from a lower social standing than the other Black Eagles, like Dorothea; even though his status isn’t as low as hers, it’s very special that he shares some genuine moments with her and they bond as the lower rungs of the group ladder

He does this with Petra too; Hubert experiences an “otherness” that he is happy to share with people he respects and trusts. It’s probably meaningful that he tends to respect women more quickly in his supports too; he’s spent his whole life devoted to respecting a woman after all

But anyway, Dorothea doesn’t take any of his shit and he respects her and it’s wonderful—I don’t personally ship them but I love the idea of them as good friends, very close because they both have so much love (of whatever kind it might be) for Edelgard

And his being so quick to comfort her worry here shows his soft side when interacting with someone who might need a little softness

Hubert is a gentle and sweet guy when he needs to be and this support made that very clear!!

thinking about this moment again:

particularly in regards to this conversation:

thinking about inej, who is actively dying, asking kaz for an apology. inej, whose native tongue leaves no room for triviality here. this isn’t “you were mean to me and you need to make nice,” it’s so much deeper.

this is “promise me you won’t treat me like a piece in your chess game again. promise me you won’t keep acting like i’m replaceable. promise me i’m not just another one of your investments.”

this is the first time we see inej holding kaz accountable, the first time we see her ask him to be more, to do better. this is the precursor to the “without armor” conversation. and i think it’s fitting that we never hear whether or not kaz did apologize. because at this point, i don’t think he’s ready to give inej what she’s really asking for here, and in a way, it’s best that she doesn’t hear him say the words. he’s not ready to mean them yet.
