okay ONE last hc before i go to work

Post botw link will go on some small adventures on his own and help out with wiping out the last few waves of ganons monsters still lurking around.

He’ll come across ruins like the ones in the Akkala Citadel or Mabe Vilage and find old books that are abandoned, old, and have had their pages ripped out. He would gingerly take out a soft cloth he keeps for this very reason, and bundle up the salvageable pages and bindings in his pack so that they wouldn’t get any more ruined. Link would come home after his week long journey and take them to Zelda for her to rewrite and save. He unties the string holding the small bundle together and lets the cloth fall open to reveal a small pile of stained booked and ripped pages, but legible text of anthologies, her old teachers poetry, rito evolution, and even descriptions of fauna she’s never heard of before.

Sometimes he’ll hit the jackpot with a small box with pages of pressed flowers that haven’t been seen in a millennia made by a little girl, or even a few handwritten books on minish and hyrulean history tucked underneath loose rotting floorboards. Sometimes, he’ll delay coming home for even longer on his journeys because he hasn’t found anything, and even just wants to bring a single piece of paper to her.

Obviously we are aware of the acting genius of Michael Sheen but the monologue of these expressions are pure brilliance.

Like, he’s flustered by being so close to Crowley, annoyed at Mary Loquacious for cockblocking interrupting, and quickly regains his composure with that bitchy little smile and I’m LOVING IT.

One of the most tragic and compelling aspects of Dunmeshi, to me, is that we’ll probably never know (unless Kui tells us lol) how Delgal actually felt about Thistle. I’ve seen people say that he genuinely cared for him as a brother and his journey to the surface was to save him from his madness as much as it was his people. I’ve seen people say that he saw Thistle as nothing more than a fancy accessory or tool that ended up going astray. Others I’ve seen (and personally agree with) say that the truth lies somewhere in the middle. But honestly, I think any one of these interpretations has the potential to be correct… and that’s just heartbreaking.

After all, Delgal is dead. Like, dead-dead. The very first chapter of the manga starts with his spirit leaving this mortal coil, taking that answer with him. And…

How he talks about Thistle here… it’s interesting. He does not ask for him to be talked down, or captured or imprisoned, but instead “defeated”. Which Mithrun interprets as asking for his death… which is reasonable, because that’s likely how the vast majority of adventurers interpreted his words, too. Obviously as he was crumbling to dust he probably didn’t have the capacity to be particularly verbose or explain the complex backstory to how the kingdom ended up this way, but the effect is the same no matter how he may have felt with it. He asked for Thistle to be killed.

But… even in situations where he wasn’t under any such time limit to explain what was going on, he still seemed not to. Most glaringly:

Yaad seemingly has no idea that it was Delgal’s fault that Thistle sought the demon’s power. Obviously he couldn’t talk to him about it because Thistle was, uh, a little out there by that point, but why didn’t Delgal explain? Was he embarrassed? Mournful? Couldn’t find the words?

Delgal was scared of dying. He wanted prosperity at any cost, and how could Thistle possibly refuse? Did he even realize that what he was the one who pushed his own brother— One who basically helped raise him despite being a child himself, and in many ways is still a child— down this path? Or was it like watching an overzealous employee misinterpret directions?

The way Yaad describes things here makes it sound like Thistle simply dug too deep in his studies and fell into madness, but we know that’s not true. Delgal didn’t “suggest” he learn magic, he wanted a mage who could help himself and his people defy death, which he admits to Thistle openly:

So, why? Why not tell his grandson, at least, the truth of the matter? Did he worry it might make the remaining residents more likely to upset Thistle, and therefore suffer the consequences? Did he just not care? For what it’s worth though, Yaad does suspect the truth from Delgal’s behavior.

He “always blamed himself” for his descent into the dark arts. This is just Yaad’s observation, and that’s without knowing that it was quite literally Delgal’s fault Thistle went down this path. So, why? Why was it all kept a secret?

Of course, this made things ripe for the winged lion to manipulate to its advantage. Clearly despite knowing he’d pushed him into using it, Delgal still thought the lion was a force of good that was misused by Thistle as a result of his madness. His face in that last panel is particularly haunting. He looks terrible, gaunt and pale with overgrown hair and missing teeth. Had he gone mad, with grief and sorrow, as well?

Could he no longer see Thistle the way he did when they were younger? No one can ask him, because he died long before the story even began.

To go back to the original question, well, how did Delgal see Thistle? None of the previous points make a definitive answer any clearer, and I think that’s just brilliant. And so, so tragic.

Hold on important Sun Help Wanted thoughts

In my opinion even though Sun is very passive aggressive and spicy in hw2 (beloved) I think it’s interesting that it’s still shown that he does genuinely not want to hurt people

Like in the whole ruin section especially in contrast with the normal section he’s so defeated and sad and self deprecating

Like he clearly knows he’s dangerous and is trying to keep people away

And this applies to both him and moon since you can actually get killed by him here

Watcher!Grian and Listener!Martyn designs :D

Small details I want to point out:

Martyn’s wings are Ender Dragon wings! Don’t really have a reason for giving him them, I just thought they looked nice

Grian’s Hermit wings are parrot ones, his Watcher wings are more equivalent to raven/crow wings

Grian’s eyes are covered in his Watcher design, but visible in his Hermit design, meanwhile Martyn’s mouth isn’t visible in either design :) Take from that what you will

The key around Grian’s neck is just from his shops on HC. Whether it’s the entity, Grain Train, or whatever/ whatever season I’m inserting him in, the key is just to that specific shop

Had a lot of fun coming up with these! Will probably do more, I think Pearl is next on my list to draw 👀

Off-Screen Apologies

Because i saw someone’s reblog saying we missed the opportunity to have a javey apology scene, because Davey deserved to be angry at Jack, and we deserved to see that happen between them, and also because i am possibly working on a little fic about the off-screen interaction.

This small interaction in episode 2 will not leave my brain I need to dissect it and ramble or else I’ll pop

Frame of reference: this is where Aziraphale tells Crowley what drink he wants,

so he gets his attention while trying to spot somewhere to sit obviously not thinking to much of it (he also only turns twice in this moment to look at Crowley, having his main focus being on the seating- thats just Aziraphale for you though) but the way that Crowley looks back at him just makes him seem taken aback by the small gesture of physical touch. Not in a negative way, he doesn’t say anything and kinda just lingers for a moment looking and Aziraphale before getting their drinks. I don’t know how to explain it but this small moment along with details in body language from the whole series just makes these characters so fun to watch, even in the small things they can be so devastatingly human despite their denial,
