Hello!! Of course! (You have no idea what a blast from the past it was to see this fic mentioned in the comments section of between the sheets, lmao.)
Under a cut, because I'm pretty sure most of my followers are not interested in fem!lelouch Code Geass fic, hahaha.
Okay, first, the bit I actually have written for the next chapter (general code geass content warnings apply, particularly those regarding suzaku's poor mental health and passivity regarding his own death):
I will never forget the day that Lelouch vi Britannia came back from the dead.
There are days during my work as a JA where I honestly wondered what the point was, days where the hopelessness of my work filtered out of the subtext and became undeniable. I had been in and out of court for six hours by the time I was representing then-Private Suzaku Kururugi against charges of insubordination – and during that time I had unsuccessfully attempted to argue nine different Honorary Britannians out of a death sentence.
Kururugi’s case had become nothing more than an obligation, and I wasn’t even certain if it were worth the effort to try. He was unwilling to offer even a token defence against the charges brought up against him, and seemed perfectly at ease with the prospect of walking to his own death.
Then, the doors to the courtroom opened.
There are two things I remember most about the following court martial. The first was the image of the woman who walked through those doors.
Lelouch vi Britannia wore death well. In the seven years since she’d last appeared in court, she’d grown into a stunning young woman. She was not made up of curves, or soft edges; instead Princess Lelouch was an angular beauty, with sharp cheekbones, broad shoulders, and cuttingly intelligent eyes. She was dressed in a gown of deep blue, and it hung off her frame like it was made for her.
Everything about her radiated purpose and intent; it struck me, even then, that she was perfectly in control of everything around her.
She was almost alone, with only one military officer as a guard. I recognised Lieutenant Cecile Croomy, who’d spoken to me over dinner the previous night about Private Kururugi’s prognosis.
At first, there was no introduction, simply the sound of measured footsteps on the hard wooden floor. When she finally gave her name, voice crisp and commanding, it felt perfunctory. From the moment she had walked through that door, no one in the room doubted her authority.
The second thing I remember was Private Kururugi’s face.
When I tore my eyes away from Princess Lelouch to take in his reaction, he was pale. He rasped something in Japanese, eyes wide and horrified. His hands were scrunched into fists and his head was shaking, as if he couldn’t believe his eyes.
Princess Lelouch smiled at him. The expression wasn’t entirely kind. I was struck, at that moment, that I had been caught between the sacrifice plays of two young adults, both marked by war, and both desperately determined to ensure the other’s survival at all costs. Princess Lelouch stood as the indubitable winner, the one with the biggest trump card, and the iron-clad nerve to play it.
“My name is Lelouch vi Britannia, Third Princess of the Britannian Empire,” she said. “I was hoping I could clear up some of the confusion surrounding the circumstances of Private Kururugi’s offence.”
It was, in retrospect, a move that would define her political career.
Unaware as I was of who this woman would become, I looked over at Private Kururugi, who still wore his shock like an illness he could not shake. I thought, perhaps with more insight than I knew, that the poor bastard never stood a chance.

“You’re mad at me,” Lelouch notes, watching as Suzaku clenches his fists. She refuses to apologise, though; an apology would imply that she made a mistake, that she didn’t consider every possible action before she made her move.
“Lelouch,” Suzaku says, voice low. “You idiot.” He spins around and for a second, Lelouch is almost scared he will slam her against the wall. He doesn’t, though. Of course he doesn’t. This is Suzaku.
“I saved your life, Suzaku,” she says, quirking an eyebrow at him. “A little gratitude would be nice.” She’s baiting him, playing on his sense of pride that he cannot have completely lost in the journey into maturity.
It works beautifully.
“I didn’t ask you to!” he spits. “I never wanted to—I was fine with dying, Lelouch. It’s not as though the accusations were baseless; I disobeyed orders—”
The smirking amusement that had been simmering in the back of Lelouch’s mind at all this disappears completely. Cold, rigid fury washes over her. Do you really think so little of me, she wants to spit right on back, but she swallows the words and the bitter taste they conjure in her mouth.
“I wasn’t about to let you die for me,” she says levelly.
And Suzaku – he laughs. He laughs and he sounds just like she did all those years ago, when she would laugh at him in bitter contempt, and Suzaku—Suzaku should never, ever sound like that.
“So it’s okay when you do it?” he asks. “The privileges of a princess? Don’t think I haven’t figured out what that stunt with the gun was about.”
“Why didn’t you run, Suzaku? It was the perfect opportunity—”
“Because I couldn’t let you die!” Suzaku shouts the words like they’ve been torn out of his chest. “You have so much to live for, Lelouch. You have Nunally, and you’re brilliant – you could have a future here, if you wanted it. You could do anything you put your mind to, and I’m just…”
“If you finish that sentence with ‘a Number’, I will slap you.”
The silence that settles between them is all too telling.
Lelouch breathes into the quiet, the fight draining out of her frame, and suddenly, all she wants is to put her head down on Suzaku’s shoulder, and feel comforted and seen and safe. It’s a childish desire, made all the more unattainable by the fact that the sanctuary she is imagining doesn’t exist anymore. Not now. Not for her.
“Lelouch…” Suzaku’s voice is quiet. “You weren’t angry anymore.”
“God, Suzaku,” Lelouch says, feeling abruptly very tired. “You idiot.”
He laughs. It doesn’t sound right. “You’re always saying that.”
Because it’s true. Lelouch looks up and meets his gaze. His eyes are still the exact same shade of dull green. “Suzaku, I have been drowning.”
His eyes widen. “Lelouch—” he starts.
Lelouch cuts him off. “Shut up,” she says. “Listen. For once in your goddamn life, Suzaku, just listen to me. Do you think these past seven years have just been—a fucking walk in the park? Do you think it’s been easy to go from hiking across a warzone with my sister on my back to—to this? I can do anything I put my mind to? Don’t make me laugh. The only future I have ever had evaporated the day my mother was assassinated. Anything else has just been—borrowed time.”
Suzaku looks stricken. Some dark part of Lelouch is pleased by the reaction.
“Do you know what I’ve spent the last seven years doing, Suzaku? I gamble. Compulsively. And yeah, I say it’s for the money, but even I know that’s a blatant lie. I do it because it’s the only time I feel even remotely alive anymore. I wasn’t angry? Well, what the hell else is there left of me when you take that away?”
“Lelouch,” Suzaku tries again. She ignores him.
“Your life is not your own, Suzaku,” she says. “Your death isn’t a self-contained event. There is a piece of you in every person you have ever met, whose affection you have ever solicited, who has ever loved you. Death isn’t about you, Suzaku. It’s about what you leave behind. It’s about the broken people who stand by your grave in the rain, choking back tears for the sake of propriety. Your life may seem cheap to you, but to me, it’s—”
Everything. She swallows the word before she can let it out.
Suzaku swallows. “You’re telling me not to be so selfish,” he says, voice hoarse. “That’s a bit rich, Lelouch.”
Lelouch smiles bitterly. “Selfishness is in my blood,” she says. “It’s a part of my character. It’s not a part of yours.”
She wouldn’t have made the argument she did if it were. They both know as much without saying it. For all her flaws, Lelouch has always known exactly where to strike to inflict a mortal wound. Conversational killer instinct.
“I guess I didn’t imagine the vitriol in my memories,” Suzaku says. He sounds hollow.
“It’s nice to know you chose my best moments to hold dear in your heart these past seven years,” Lelouch says. It’s acidic, but far from the worst she’s ever said.
Suzaku’s smile is sad. “I wanted to remember you as you were,” he says. “Vitriol and all.”
Lelouch stares at him, and in that moment, stood in a dress the likes of which she hasn’t touched in years, wearing hard-soled shoes she picked out specifically so her footsteps were audible – covered head to toe in a bespoke mask of royal superiority – she feels stripped utterly bare.
But it’s no surprise. This is Suzaku.
There is a reason she fell in love with him.

Okay, so. Vague outliney things.
Post all this, Lelouch goes back to the capital, and Nunally executes her own political maneouvre to basically scupper Lelouch's plans to pretend Nunally is dead.
Fic then transitions into more political scheming and strategising from Britannia, where Lelouch has to pivot most of her plans, and begins a ruthless campaign for the throne (and also for vengeance for her mother.)
One of the vague, vague shemes I had was for Lelouch to agree to a... I guess, political engagement to Lloyd, mostly for protection from being married off against her will. (Neither of them have any intention of actually marrying.) Lelouch offers Lloyd her mother's piloting data from the ganymede as recompense for this facade.
Suzaku gets dragged along to the capital because Lelouch refuses to leave him behind -- he's employed as a personal bodyguard for her, as part of her agreement with Lloyd. (He still does test piloting for the Lancelot, but Camelot mostly relocates to the capital.)
Okay the next bit is taken from a text conversation I had about how Lelouch and Suzaku's relationship would develop in this fic, so it's a bit all over the place.
"I wanted to remember you as you were. Vitriol and all." <- The single most romantic thing anyone has ever said to Lelouch, which, when you think about it, really says it all.
Side note: At Ashford, Lelouch has a reputation as an ice princess -- she's beautiful, she's intelligent, she's basically everything anyone could want, but she's completely unattainable. Lelouch isn't ignorant to romance. People do confess to her, but she can't accept them for obvious reasons (undercover princess of Britiannia hiding from her family) and she doesn't want to for equally obvious reasons (there are very few people that Lelouch actually respects).
Lelouch wants someone she can respect, and someone who'll love her for who she really is. The issue here is that who she really is isn't really... all that nice. Or, morally upright.
One of the plans I had for later was that Lelouch would have to confront the fact that Suzaku is showing (apparent) interest in Euphemia. Euphie is basically Lelouch's polar opposite -- she's bright, a little naieve, idealistic, and kind to a fault. She's a very caring soul.
And like, the obvious thing here is that Lelouch feels -- inadequate, next to Euphemia.
Like, one of the things I like about Lelouch in canon is that he respects compassion and mercy. Fem!Lelouch is not different at all. She admires Euphie's unfaltering kindness, whilst also viewing it as something she is fundamentally incapable of.
But, you know. It's Suzaku.
So, Lelouch oragnises something that will mean Euphemia can never be with Suzaku. Probably an arranged marriage that neither Cornelia nor Euphie have the politcal prowess or sway to properly extract her from.
Suzaku talks to Euphie, who tells them they cannot continue because of the arranged marriage, and Suzaku just immediately Knows that Lelouch is behind this, and goes to yell at her.
Lelouch basically owns up to it, and explains that she did it because she's in love with him, and she's never not going to be deeply fucked up.
Lelouch: "If you're really in love with Euphemia, tell me now, and I'll get her out of the marriage, but if you're not -- don't do this. You're an Eleven, Suzaku. Loving you -- however privately -- would be damning for someone of Euphemia's stature. Even this -- innocent flirtation, you have now -- it's putting her in an untenable position at court. She doesn't have the wits to survive it."
And Suzaku is pissed, because, damnit, Lelouch, does everything have to be a fucking fight? And he says, "You'll get her out of the marriage."
And Lelouch feels like her heart has been crushed into pieces, but she nods. "Okay."
Suzaku: "And you won't do it because I'm in love with her. You'll do it because she's your sister, and you love her, and even you aren't cruel enough to trap her in a loveless marriage."
Lelouch looks up at this. "I--Suzaku, that wasn't--"
And he says, "You're a piece of work, do you know that, Lelouch? Sometimes you get so caught up in your own intelligence and calculation that you forget that not everyone is built like you are. You don't have to--fight me into a corner to get me to tell you the truth. I don't need the stakes to be high to tell you that I love you, though sometimes--sometimes I really have no fucking idea why."
Lelouch feels like she's being swept away at sea. "Suzaku--"
Suzaku: "Lelouch, I wasn't spending time with Euphie because I was courting her. I was spending time with her because she wants to set up a charity that for Elevens to help them earn Honorary Britannian status, and she wanted the opinion of someone who's been both. She did ask me on a date, but I turned her down, because I'm in love with you, and I have been, for almost as long as I've known you."
Lelouch: "You could have said something, Suzaku, instead of just--"
Suzaku: "You just told me it would make a princess's position at court untenable, if she were dating a Number like me. Unless -- what did you say? -- unless they had the wits to survive the situation. So, do you?"
Lelouch: "Have I ever given you reaosn to doubt my wits?"
Suzaku: "Not usually, but then you do shit like this, when you could have just talked to me."
Lelouch: "I--"
Suzaku: "Save it, Lelouch. I don't want to hear your excuses."
Lelouch: "It wasn't going to be an excuse. I'm--I'm not a good person, Suzaku. You've always known that. But I love you. I love you so much it burns away my insides. I love you so much I threw myself back into an empire I swore I'd raze to the ground to save your life. I love you so much I entrapped the one sister outside of Nunally I actually care about in an arranged marriage simply so you wouldn't be able to leave me for her. I am so deeply in love with you it compromises everything else about me."
Suzaku: "You know I can't be that, Lelouch. I can't be the excuse you use to burn the world down."
Lelouch: [A little bitter, a little self-mocking.] "Oh, I can do that well enough without you."
Suzaku: [After a long pause.] "I can't give you an answer right now, Lelouch. I love you, but I'm so--I'm so mad at you I can't think straight."
Lelouch clenches her hands into fists, then releases them. "Okay. How long do you need?"
"I can't answer that. I need--I need to go."
And then Lelouch almost dies during one of her schemes, and Suzaku decides he can't bear to lose her without really ever having had her, and they begin dating.
A quote from the messaging conversation: "i mean in an ideal world, lelouch gets a lot of therapy, but in the fic world she becomes empress instead"
And then, in brackets: (well, i mean, killing her dad was probably very therapeutic for lelouch)
Anyway, the judge advocate who wrote the extract I posted above would be, like, the afterword to the fic. And he reflects on how obvious it was right from the start that Lelouch was so fucking gone on Suzaku that she'd go as far as to become Empress in order to create a world that he can live happily in.
When Suzaku agrees to date Lelouch, he tells her that if she ever goes too far, he will turn on her and take her down.
And afterwards, Nunally asks him if he meant it, and Suzaku says that the last time he chose what he thought was the greater good over the people he loves, he ended up regretting it forever.
And so if it came down to it, Suzaku doesn't think he could betray Lelouch.
But Lelouch needs to believe that he would.
Oh, as an aside: Lelouch in Pendragon cultivates this, like, rebellious renegade reputation, as like, a younger, cleverer, edgier alternative to the other royals. Like, she builds up this image as kind of like a rockstar princess who very publicly toes the line of propiety. She makes out like she has no interest in the crown -- she's a wild card, basically.
She scandalises the nobility, just as much as she delights them, just a little. She's adored by commoners -- she's seen as this straight-talking no-bullshit political figure. Lloyd finds her fascinating, because she attends parties with him and then just starts shit all the time.
Part of her greater plot to the throne would include throwing her lot in with Schneizel, and serving as a supporter in his camp, before eventually stabbing him in the back.
Here's an extract I wrote that was going to be like, a script of a YouTube video about her, written years after her reign:
When she returned to court in 2017, Lelouch vi Britannia was the last person anyone expected to become the next Empress. Even discounting her seven year absence, the odds were stacked against her. She wasn’t first in line for the throne. She wasn’t second. She wasn’t even top ten. Instead, Lelouch vi Britannia was seventeenth in line to the throne. On top of that, she lacked any significant political base: where her siblings benefited from their mothers’ noble pedigree, Lelouch was instead the daughter of the only commoner to ever become an Imperial Consort. She even seemed resistant to gaining any such advantage: Lelouch vi Britannia publicly snubbed no less than three advantageous marriages, choosing instead to marry not just a commoner, but an Honorary Britannian. She flouted Imperial Propriety at every possible opportunity: she spoke openly with the press, she wore mourning robes to an imperial wedding, she very openly held only passing respect for her father, Charles zi Britannia, the Emperor— So, by now, you must be wondering: what the hell happened?
Anyway, that's about all I have for the fic. It was a while back, I didn't used to outline in as much depth back then, haha.

Pretty much everybody on Tumblr seems to look at Garrus and be like, "Hm, yes, the optimal love interest." And that's fair! Garrus is great. Date him if you want.
But goddamn, have I just always had brainrot for Shepard and Garrus platonically. Their dynamic is just so flawless. I have never believed a game more when it has told me "These two people are best friends." They are the most found family siblings I've ever seen.
Every party member in Mass Effect 1 (who lives) goes on to achieve greatness above and beyond pretty much any party member introduced in subsequent games (except that I do specifically think the human party members are outstripped by Mordin), but you get to watch it happen with Garrus and Tali because they never leave you. Garrus starts off as "That loose cannon cop who signed on to help get Saren." After Shepard dies, he decides he's just going to casually end organized crime and is alarmingly successful. When Shepard shows up again, Garrus' reaction is to fucking shoot them and then joke about it when they finally make it to him. Shepard deflects Garrus' near death experience by calling him ugly. During his loyalty mission, you have the opportunity to have some absolutely raw conversations with him about ethics and morality that you don't really ever see with another companion except Jack, and she basically completely ignores everything you say until you see her in 3. With Garrus, he'll resist what you're saying, but you can see him trying to find the line between justice and revenge, law and chaos. If you put him in charge of the second team during the suicide mission, you can see how much he's grown with you as he effortlessly coordinates his team with yours. And all that is just in Mass Effect 2.
Once you get to 3, you really start seeing it. Garrus has made his way up in the Hierarchy and is leading their efforts against the Reapers, just like Shepard. When you ask him about it, he immediately starts talking about it as the shared work you've had since the first game. No other companion identifies themselves with you through this struggle. Sure, other companions will mention the previous games and what you did with them, but there's always something else. Liara is the Shadow Broker now. Tali has the Geth to worry about. The Virmire Survivor is bound up in the Alliance and becoming a Spectre. Wrex has the Krogan. But Garrus? Garrus is here with you. He's standing right next to you, giving the Reapers his full attention. And as you go throughout the game, he's consistently the one there for you. When you're struggling to get the Council Races to work together, he's there. When things go tits up on Thessia, he's there. Even you're going into the final run, he's there. When the two of you die, if Turian heaven is the same as human heaven, he'll meet you at the bar.
There is no Vakarian without Shepard. There is no Shepard without Vakarian. These two soldiers are bound together with blood, sweat, and the sheer Terminator-grade determination to save the galaxy, no matter how much it kicks and screams. There is no fire they won't jump into for the other one, and they'll make fun of each other the whole way. There's no other relationship like it.
I'm Glory of Dawn, and this is my favorite platonic ship on the Citadel.

four months.
it has been four months since you left miles and you couldn't feel anymore miserable, your entire world had revolved around him and it was like it stopped the motion the moment you broke up with him.
he hadn't tried anything to approach you or even contact you, part of it made you mad but the other part was relieved because you didn't know what you would do if miles tried to explain himself again while you were still vulnerable.
you have tried to go on multiple dates since then, but they turned out really badly since either the person was the rudest one you have ever met or stood you up. you were tired of that, what was wrong with this people? asking someone on a date just to treat them like shit, then never trying to speak with you again or not show at all.
now you were getting ready for a party, almost done with your look. you had spent most of the time stressing out on what to wear because you wanted attention but not that much attention so you had to figure out something fast.
after deciding which dress to wear you did your makeup and hair, before putting on some short heeled stilettos to finish off the look. you sighed looking at the mirror, maybe today you could forget about him for a while and focus on having fun for once.
grabbing your purse and double checking that everything you needed was inside of it, you left your house. breathing in the fresh air, you started walking to the convenience store, wanting to buy something before calling an uber.
however your plans changed when you noticed a group of men standing there drinking, smoking and looking crazy. you turned, deciding to just make your way back home and call the uber. the streets were dangerous ever since captain morales died and you didn't want to fall victim to any of this men.
"hey, sweetheart! where you going?" one of them noticed you and called out.
you cursed under your breath, squeezing your eyes together and walking faster.
"now, why are you walking so fast? huh?" the same one that had talked before had ran towards you and caught your arm in his grasp.
"please, leave me alone." now you were scared.
"and why would i do that?" he eyed you from head to toe. "aren't you a doll, wanna go back to my place?"
it sounded like a question but you knew that it wasn't. "listen, i just wanna go home."
"i can go home with you too." he laughed and the others, who you didn't notice had gotten closer, started laughing too.
five grown men surrounding you. this night couldn't get any worse. the one holding you took out a pocket knife and ran it across your face.
"let go of me!" you said, trying to keep it together and not show any fear.
"i don't think so." the man shook his head with a sick grin on his face, lifting the knife from your face and shaking it as well. "now—"
there was a loud slashing sound and suddenly the man was on the floor, blood pooling around him, four deep slashes across his back.
you knew who it was from and you didn't hesitate to run, it was hard on heels but you made it home, locking the door behind you and putting a hand over your mouth to muffle your sobs.
miles had just killed someone. right in front of you, he just killed him. you slid down the door, your hand still covering your mouth as tears fell down from your eyes.
"don't cry, mami." the voice scared you but you had no energy to jump at the sound or to start yelling at him for what he did. "that man ain't worth it."
"just leave me alone, please..." you managed to say.
"what if someone tries to break in?" miles asked, kneeling in front of you. "what if you get harassed again? won't you want me there for you? to protect you?"
you finally looked over at him, a claw was laying beside him, covered in blood and his suit had some fresh blood on it.
"you killed them all?" you asked.
"of course i did," he nodded with a sweet smile, making him appear so innocent. "one laid his hands on you while the others just watched. they all deserved what they got."
"you killed them."
"yes, and i would do it again to protect you."
"miles, you killed." you took a shaky breath. "because of me."
"no, princesa." he shook his head. "i killed for you. there is a difference."
"what difference?" you asked angrily. "it's all the same. for me, because of me. it's my fault they died."
"no, it's their fault for messing with what's mine." miles corrected. "i was just protecting you, princesa. if i had let them live they could have attacked you again or another person."
you thought about this, he was right. "they could've attacked another person." you repeated and nodded. "you're right."
"of course, i'm right." miles smirked, knowing that he was breaking through. "i always make sure you're okay, even checking in on the guys you set up your little dates with."
"what?" you asked confused.
"well, some of them weren't nice to my princesa so i had to take care of that. and others didn't deserve a date with you." he shrugged.
"but you only did that to protect me, right?"
"of course, mi angelito." he nodded.
"everything that you have done was for that too?"
"yes," miles nodded, encouraging your thoughts of you needing him. "so will you take me back?"
"yeah," you nodded, wiping your tear stained cheeks with a smile.
"good," miles nodded and grabbed your chin with the same hand he used to kill, pulling you in to leave a peck on your lips. "you are never going to leave me again, understand?"
you nodded.
"i asked if you understand?" he said more forcefully.
"yes, bonito." you answered verbally this time.
miles smirked. "good."
he pulled you back in for a real kiss this time, his mouth coming in contact with yours into a blissful kiss. his tongue pushed its way inside your mouth, fighting yours and winning, exploring every inch of the place he missed so much.
"don't ever think about going out with other men again." miles said between kisses. "los mataré, entiendes?"
"yes." you nodded and pulled him back in to kiss him.
you just missed him so much. why were you so stupid to leave him in the first place? all he wanted was to protect you.

To be honest, I think most of them would get along because of the societal demands of mixing and their solid moral base, but here are some predictions:
Best friends:
Marianne Dashwood & Fanny Price, both of them are super into poetry and rhapsodizing about the outdoors. Marianne can stand up to Fanny's attackers and Fanny can teach Marianne some temperance.
Elinor Dashwood & Jane Bennet, they both are carrying the family in times of need, both disappointed in love through no fault of their own. Elinor's clearer-eyed view of the world would help Jane take off those rose-coloured glasses, but Jane's love and hope would be warm to Elinor.
Elizabeth Bennet & Fanny Price, extrovert/introvert adoption. Elizabeth is delighted when Fanny finally starts to talk and it turns out she's super smart, but she would have kept her anyway.
Jane Fairfax & Fanny Price, in very similar situations and similar personalities, they get each other. Fanny is very worried about this Frank Churchill character.
Catherine Morland & Emma Woodhouse, a healthier and more equal version of the Harriet/Emma dynamic. And given social class, this is one that can be sustained long term. Catherine starts by admiring Emma and then catches up with her.
Harriet Smith & Catherine Morland, they would get so deep into novels together it'd be amazing. The fanfics these girls would write together.
Caroline Bingley & Emma Woodhouse, they would enjoy making fun of Miss Bates behind her back... they would make each other worse. Eventually Emma would look at herself in the mirror with disappointment.
Anne Elliot & Anyone, please anyone who is an intellectual equal. Do you see the people that she has to put up with? It's literal torture. I could see Fanny Price, Elizabeth Bennet, or Jane Fairfax.
Mentor/Mentee:
Catherine Morland & Anne Elliot, Anne is the oracle of all knowledge and Catherine admires her exceedingly. (Fanny Price would also work here)
Elizabeth Bennet & Anne Elliot, Elizabeth could learn so much from her! Anne would see through Wickham in a minute. They could play some duets too!
Georgiana Darcy & Anne Elliot... just send everyone over to Anne Elliot. She's the group mentor.
Instant Hatred:
Elizabeth Bennet & Emma Woodhouse, Emma would be too much like Darcy and Elizabeth would hate her snobbiness. They would likely become friends in time, but it would be after a good deal of dislike.
Marianne Dashwood & Emma Woodhouse, Emma is not impressed by the drama and HOW DARE YOU CALL MR. KNIGHTLEY OLD! Marianne doesn't like Emma's attitude.
Elizabeth Bennet & Mary Crawford, they are similar and their personality tends not to like each other. Also, Mary C would probably try to take a mentor role with Elizabeth (as one who knows about town) and Elizabeth would hate her for it.
Catherine Morland & Marianne Dashwood, Marianne is astounded by Catherine's ignorance, because it tends in a different direction than her own.
(Honestly, the most clashing personalities are Marianne Dashwood and Emma Woodhouse, someone like Elinor Dashwood, Anne Elliot or Fanny Price can put up with almost anything placidly)
Bonus: Miss Bates & Mrs. Jennings would LOVE each other. They would totally talk at the same time. Another older lady pairing that would work is Lady Bertram and Mrs. Allen.

DREAMWEAVER ( A DCA AU)
The manifestation of Dreams and Nightmares, two deities that control the Dream and Nightmare Realm separately. Both entities, created by the cosmos to protect enlighten mortals of the reasons for their dreams. One of pure dream essence while the other condensed nightmare fuel. While the two deities are very opposite, they work together on the fine line of balance. The two of them having their own wisps that they send out to do their bidding for them while they discuss more important matters. Usually entering the mortal realm to take in the sights and observe the ways of mortals. Dawn Walker blessing those with wonderful thoughts of dreams and daydreaming fantasies. While Dusk Strider instils anxiety and fear, allowing doubts to shine for nightmares later.
Dawn Walker or Sundrop; is the protector and guardian of the Dream Realm. A positive deity with a love of watching others accomplish their wildest dreams and willing them to pursuit them. Dawn usually has his overly ambitions dreams twisted into partial nightmares when Dusk adds his own touch of terror. Dawn has Dream Wisps that carry onto mortals during the day so they may have fulfilling dreams. Similar to Dusks Nightmare Wisps, they are pure essence of which realm they carry. Sometimes colliding with one another, which is a good explanation for those dreams that take a sudden turn.
Dusk Strider or Moondrop; is the protector and guardian of the Nightmare Realm. A pessimistic optimist who dabbles doubts to one throughout the day so night terrors shine at night. Sometimes his nightmare fuel gets out of hand, bringing stronger terrors to peoples minds than anticipated. When this happens, Dusk feels terrible, usually urging Dawn to bring enlightenment the following night. Dusk doesn't like his purpose as much as one would think, usually instilling the doubts for others on himself so mortals will not have to feel that burden.
The two of them compliment each other very well when it comes to their powers. Dawn doing what he can to soothe the nightmares Dusk brings to himself and others. While most do not like the nightmares Dusk brings, he knows his powers are just as important. Dusk usually works very closely with Dawn to ensure the doubts he instils aren't to much for a mortal to handle. Usually having the Nightmare wisps do most of his work. Hoping it will allow his mind an ease encase the fuel burns to bright and he has to take the pain upon himself.
Dawn hates knowing his partner suffers from his own terrors at times, but always reassures Dusk that his terrors aren't real. He knows he doesn't mean to bring the negativity all the time, seeing the efforts he puts in to bring said terrors to himself so others can rest easy.
While they have their disagreements at times, they know they couldn't live without each other. Complimenting each other as companions and partners. Through their journies to the mortal realm, they often find themselves with piqued curiosity. Choosing a mortal they will follow with the understanding they are invisible to those around them. That is until they encountered someone who can see them and their antics. Interesting the deities, they decided to drop in on the life of the moral more to discover the wonders of mortals. While also discovering themselves in the process.
The two are painfully unaware that others around them can hear and see them, assuming no one can. Which is why Y/N seeing them is such a big deal to them.. maybe someone should tell them? Occasionally through their travels, Dawn Walker and Dusk Strider find themselves running into the agent of chaos who rules over the limbo. The realm in between the Dream and Nightmare realm, where wisps get lost and dreams fall on deaf ears. Twilight Stalker or Eclipse, a deity who sees more fun in what lies in the middle of the realms, than the joys or horrors of either side. While he isn't the most prominent in their lives, he always seems to pop in when you least expect him too.

Toby is known to play tricks on people. While he has been known to steal things for his own amusement, he usually returns them later or pays for them with some form of "payment" like a practical joke back at the store owner. While Toby doesn't have a conscience, he has a sense of right and wrong, but it's based on what is funny, rather than what is morally correct.
Toby takes pleasure in playing harmless practical jokes on people, especially those who have wronged him. When Toby steals something, it is generally for fun and not for personal gain. His motivation is that he finds it amusing to see the reactions of the people who he is stealing from. He usually returns the items later, or replaces them with something else that is equally funny.
On the other hand, [M/N] is more of a thrill-seeker. He love taking risks and trying new things. How do he and Toby met? That's now on you, He's also very creative and can often find ways to get away with things that most people would never even think of. He tend to see stealing as a game, with the goal being to get as much as he can without being caught. [M/N] loves the adrenaline rush he get from stealing, and he often take items he doesn't even really want just for the thrill of it.
Both Him and Toby are quick on their feet and could easily escape into the forest. They might even have a secret hideout in the forest where they could hide out and plan their next adventure. Ticci Toby would probably enjoy the chase and try to make a game out of it, while [M/N] would be more focused on getting away as quickly as possible.
Toby would likely be both impressed and annoyed if [M/N] tried to one-up his game. He would be impressed because he appreciates cleverness and originality, but he would also be annoyed because he views stealing as a competition, and he wouldn't want anyone to be better than him at it. He would likely try to one-up him back, leading to a sort of back-and-forth battle between the two thieves.

Toby and [M/N] had been stealing together for some time now, and they had developed a strong sense of competition with each other. They would often try to one-up each other, stealing bigger and better things than the other had, and would sometimes even bet small amounts of money on who could get away with the most valuable prizes. But despite their competitive spirit, they also loved to tease each other, taking any opportunity to make fun of each other's methods or techniques. This made stealing together a fun and exciting adventure for both of them, even if at times it could also be a bit intense and competitive.
Both are competitive as hell, They're a couple of teens and one of them is a literal killer. Their competitive instincts often led to them teasing each other to an extreme, pushing each other's buttons until all that was left was pure annoyance and anger. In these moments, they would often come very close to physical violence, but neither one wanted to actually hurt the other. Making Toby in a sour mood, He would mumble slurs against his breath whenever [M/N] "wins"

As they hurriedly made their escape from the store, they couldn't help but feel a competitive tension brewing between them. They found themselves in the forest, having just pulled off a daring heist and hiding out in some gross abandoned building. Their nerves were on end and they were both feeling the adrenaline from the excitement of the robbery. As they argued over who had been more responsible for the successful heist, they began teasing each other relentlessly, their words becoming more and more heated.
In the heat of the moment In the heat of the moment, the tension between Him and Toby reached a fever pitch. The air was thick with anticipation, and the dim light filtering through the broken windows cast eerie shadows on the decaying walls. Toby's heart raced as he glanced over at him, Toby's eyes narrowing as he took in the sight of him. The two thieves were standing inches apart, taunting each other, their eyes locked in a battle of wills. They felt the anger and resentment building between them, but neither one could seem to let go.
[M/N] 's breath tickled his skin, his words sending shivers down his spine. Toby could feel the heat radiating off his body, and he couldn't help but be drawn to him despite their rivalry. His mind raced as he tried to think of a clever retort, but before he could utter a word, [M/N]'s lips crashed into his. The force of the kiss left him breathless, him lips tingling with delight. Toby' S hands instinctively gripped [M/N] 's waist , pulling him closer to him as he kissed him back with fervor.
As their tongues danced together, exploring the depths of each other's mouths, [M/N] felt a fire ignite within him. He could feel the warmth spreading through hiz body, his core throbbing with desire. Toby'z hands began to explore his body, his fingers tracing the contours of the man's curves, sending shivers up his spine.
Toby pulled away slightly, his eyes locked with [M/N] as he spoke in a husky whisper, "You may be clever, but you're also right about one thing. I do want to see who can outlast whom in this game we're playing."
They continued to tease and provoke one another, Toby couldn't help but feel his heart race with anticipation. The tension between them was palpable, the air thick with desire and competition. He could see the hunger in [M/N]'s eyes, the way his gaze lingered on his body, and it only fueled his own desires.
As they circled each other like predators, their hands grazed and brushed against one another, sending electric shocks through their bodies as well as both of them grinding on each other. [M/N]'S breath hitched as Toby's fingers lightly traced the curve of his waist, his touch sending waves of pleasure coursing through him. Their bodies pressed against each other, the heat between them almost unbearable.
"Wow.. Ha.. You couldn't get enough of me, do ya?" [M/N] whispered in between the kisses, Toby frowned hearing that and lunged forward, his lips capturing [M/N] once again in a searing kiss. the intensity of their passion was overwhelming. Toby's knees buckled, his body melting against [M/N] 's as he moaned into his mouth. His hands roamed freely over his body, exploring every curve, every inch of his skin.
As their kiss deepened, Toby felt an insatiable hunger grow within him. the kiss came to an end, Toby and [M/N] pulled apart, looking at each other with a mixture of fear and excitement in their eyes. They had both felt something they had never felt before, a connection that went beyond their petty competitions and the rush of stealing, Toby's eyes locked with [M/N]'s as he whispered, "You win this round, Reader. But the game is far from over.."
They have completely forgot about the food and drinks they stole, that was now on the ground..

For Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu:
you've got the founder of the fantasy ancient Chinese CIA and the leader of what is essentially the mafia and then they're soulmates and in love. they're both willing to kill anyone who dares hurt the other while also just wanting a soft domestic life together
Zhou Zishu is an assassin and spymaster who put the current Emperor on the throne, and then quit his job by faking his death (kinda, hes still dying but not as fast as he was supposed to). Had done A Lot on his old job, including murdering children (more than one, and at least one of them in a way I can't even describe without several trigger warnings), exterminating whole families, war crimes (and i dont mean this in a buzzword way, i mean "organized a public execution of foreign diplomats during war time")… btw he doesn't feel particularly bad about any of this, because he believes it was necessary. Like he wouldn't do it for fun, but he thinks the ends (putting a good Emperor on the throne) justified the means (all of the atrocities). As a retiree, he definitely cut down on the amount of morally reprehensible murder, but not murder in general. He still routinely kills ppl, he just doesn't go out of his way to kill more. Wen Kexing, meanwhile, is the Ghost Valley Master - Ghost Valley being a place where the worst of criminals are exiled. Even in such a place, he has reputation as a complete lunatic, owed partially to the fact that he either skinned a man or fed him his own flesh or both at one point, and partially to him having a rule where he would kill anyone who came closer than 3 meters to him. But in truth, everything he'd done was to survive the Ghost Valley and eventually take revenge for his parents, who were brutally murdered when he was only nine. By the start of the novel's timeline, he put his plan in motion - the plan that would drown jianghu in blood, but also deliver poetic justice to all responsible for his parents' deaths, as well as all who'd commit the same crime given the chance. And these two men, these two murderers and schemers, meet - and unexpectedly, find in each other the person who /understands/. The person who is just as ruthless and whose hands are just as bloody, but also the person who knows standing at the top of the world is not worth it, who seeks the same freedom of leaving it all behind, and who is still, underneath it all, a human, with human heart seeking connection. So you have this couple who understand each other with barely a word, and who want the same things - who are so hungry for domesticity and for people they can just goof around with when all their lives they had to measure every step and word - but ALSO where one half a couple is like "i gotta go murder hundreds in revenge" and the other half is like "ok pick you up at 6". (This btw is why I'm submitting novel's iteration of the couple in particular. Show wenzhou with their ridiculous breakups over morality could Never.) Also they were both hiding who they are when they first met, and later flirted about having figured each other out. Finally, I'll leave you my favorite quote that just. perfectly sums up their relationship: "And just like that, they fell asleep in each other's arms, steeped in the smell of blood."
You’ve probably already had submissions for them but I’ll add on. One of them founded an assassin’s guild and killed a staggering number of people. His malewife is the leader of a sect of insane murderous outcasts, and he attained his position by proving to be the most crazy and murder happy of them all. Most of the plot involves him wandering around watching his schemes get more people killed. Together they adopt a kid that was only orphaned due to said scheming (oops). They’re terrible and I love them.
For Legolas and Gimli:
They literally have a running competition between the two over who has more kills. And non-canon my ass, Legolas took Gimli to valinor

I recently had a horrific argument because some people can’t let a ship just be a ship. I genuinely have my fun and love for Cleon and it getting attacked was too much. However the person I got into a fight with also told me to count up 3 reasons why they should work. And I couldn’t believe that I had to think about it and it took longer than it should have. Out of curiosity…if you had to count up three reasons what would it be?

I'm pretty sure I've already answered a question like this at some point, or at least the answer is spread out somewhere in several of my posts over the last 3 years.
But don't worry, I will try to make a short summary of the 3 things about Cleon that would make them work as a couple:
1.They have a lot in common.
Although their work occupies most of Leon and Claire's lives, through the franchise they have shown very similar everyday interests and hobbies:
Such as love for motorcycles. Capcom made Leon and Claire the official bikers of the franchise, always putting little references here and there in games and movies;
Their whole style. The taste for custom leather jackets, obviously, but also many other alternative outfits. Believe me, of almost all of Claire's costumes, Leon has one somewhere to match.
Even the same kind of sense of humor, with similar one liners, bad good jokes and literary references that I posted here many times before;
It would be easy to imagine what their life together would be like outside of work, on a daily basis with so much in common and the banter they have when they are together.
2.They have the same morals.
Despite following different paths in the fight against bioterrorism, Leon and Claire carry the same code on how to act in certain situations:
Like the idea that both have already stated about not giving up the fight in the name of their comrades who died alongside them (Damnation, Heavenly Island);
The strong will to protect those in need, like Sherry, Ashley and others, no matter how impossible the mission seems or what has to be done;
Not blindly believing in something and always questioning and digging deep when something doesn't feel right (Degeneration, Infinite Darkness);
Trying to understand all sides of the situation and even sympathizing with some of the villains they faced (Annette, Rodrigo, Jason, Buddy, Dr. Taylor and more);
Along with many others, sharing these characteristics can bring stability to their relationship. Having them always on the same page, knowing what each one stands for.
3.They can understand each other.
Besides the shared trauma in Raccoon City, Leon and Claire went through very similar traumatic events even on different missions years apart and, in one way or another, felt the same type of pain:
Being kidnapped, infected and subjected to a race against time to save themselves and others (RE4 and REvelations 2);
Having to see their superiors whom they trusted (and are somewhat emotionally involved) become monsters obsessed with power. (Neil and Krauser)
Being used, mistreated and framed... Leon by the government and its corruption; Claire (along with terrasave) by willpharma and later on by Neil and the FBC;
Witnessing friends sacrifice themselves for them... some even in a very similar way: like Gabe and Mike exploding in a helicopter while Claire and Leon can only watch;
Don't get me wrong, a lot of RE characters have trauma and they all can bond through that, it's undeniable. But here, about Leon and Claire, I'm not just talking about "what happened and their reaction", but also HOW it happened and the physical and psychological similarities of each event for them. As if the narrative chooses to create parallels between them.
And this opens the door for a deep interactions (like the one in Degeneration) that can add new layers to their relationship and find comfort in each other.
Now just let me give you a little bonus (because I would like to write a lot more, but that is already too far from the short summary I promised)
4.Their amazing chemistry.
Haters will always try to deny it (and that's expected since they are haters), but the chemistry between Leon and Claire is great.
Not just the way they look and smile at each other, but how they act together and how they care for each other. I mean, Capcom didn't write scenes like Claire's big smile when she sees that Leon is okay, or Leon giving up of himself for Claire's safety, or them flirting cracking jokes in the middle of a zombie outbreak, or running and screaming each of their name in despair as soon as they see the other is injured for nothing.
It's to highlight their chemistry. The chemistry they are writing for Cleon.
Again, haters will always deny it, because it's inconvenient for them, but it's there.
Leon and Claire love and care for each other deeply, they can have fun hobbies, overcome hardships and find comfort together. The entire basis for a healthy relationship is there, written by the devs at Capcom themselves.
We just need to wait and see what they do with it.

camp spiderpine
characters: miguel o’hara, miles morales, hobie brown, gwen stacy
notes: this is a camp au! i love writing these so much. for my AOT followers i promise i will be posting some more stuff soon and hopefully i will get some AOT reqs. as of rn i have one that i am excited to write but i think it might take me a bit as i really wanna take my time with it. sorry i didn’t include pav in this, just wasn’t feeling too inspired with him. might add him later lol. not proofread!

Being a counselor with Miguel is both fun and exhausting. Your campers have a great bond, which is always lovely to see, but they are so energetic that it is tiring. It’s always fun to do it with Miguel though! He is always super helpful, especially with things like putting on sunscreen. His hands are gentle when he rubs it in, though they seem… hesitant? When he pulls away, his face looks strangely pink, but he says it’s just because of the sun. Strange. Sometimes, Miguel will guard at the lake while some of the kids swim. It’s hard not to check him out. Yet, lately you’ve been a bit… tempted by him. His lips look more enticing than ever, his voice is sweeter to listen to, and he seems more eager to be near you. It doesn’t surprise you when you two share a kiss late one night, outside the cabin on the porch. For each other’s sake, and to avoid the nosy questions from campers, you and Miguel agree to keep it secret. You think some of the campers are noticing with the amused smirks that they give you, and the way Lyla, another counselor, giggles when she sees how close you sit together. It’s all extremely exhilarating and lively, but the summer’s ending soon, and Miguel has to go back home…. which is hours away. Will you two stay in touch?
Miguel’s favorite camper is Miles, but he always denies it. He supervises many different activities for each camp season, but the ones he does the most often are diving, paddle boarding, and baseball. He always forgets to put on bug spray, so every night you see new bug bites all over his body. Sometimes, he accidentally spends too much time in the shower. Gets yelled at for it. Loses his only towel on the first day of camp.
Miles is a nervous camper. It’s his first time at Camp Spiderpine, so it takes him a while to adjust. For his activities, he chooses kayaking, basketball, arts & crafts, and mountain biking. His bunk is right above yours. It’s nice to be bunk mates since Miles is super respectful of your space and your luggage. He shares candy with you, tells you questionable stories from his school, and lets you do messy face painting on him. You’re a bit bummed out after you finish your face painting session on him. Not because you don’t like what you painted, but because you wanted to stay being close to him. His warmth is comforting, and so are the brown hues of his eyes. The next day, when Gwen asks you if you have a camp crush, she laughs when you say Miles. She tells you she’s been waiting for you to realize since the beginning of camp. On the night before the last day, Miles finally gains the courage to kiss you, and it is glorious. It’s messy, extremely nerve-wracking, and not perfect at all, but it’s amazing. Miles promises to stay in touch with you to see where the relationship goes. You’re his first girlfriend, and he wants to make it work.
Miles loses his flashlight early into the camp session, so he trips all the way to the bathrooms in the night. During his first time kayaking, he somehow flipped into the lake, and it took him 5 minutes with your and the instructor’s help to get back in. He laughs it off but is super embarrassed. Has so much trouble getting up so early in the morning that one time he just walked around all day in PJs. Kills all the bugs for everyone who is scared of them.
Hobie’s a veteran camper, and he’s been going since he was 6. He knows where pretty much every cabin and building is at camp. He always ends up helping new people get around. For his activities, he chooses BB-Guns, guitar, paddle boarding, and hiking. The two of you meet when your counselor, Miguel, partners you up with Hobie for the first day of camp. He is required to help you find your way around, and answer any questions you may have. Soon, you learn that you get along great, and become great friends. The two of you partner up together for paddleboarding, but he always falls off. He also gets bit by the fish a lot when the two of you are in the water. Your face feels warm when he helps you get back on when you fall off. His touch is so much more… captivating now? You find yourself wanting more. Now, when he guides you around camp, his hand is rested on the small of your back and his other one lingers near your waist. It’s very alluring. At night, you wonder if maybe it could be more? Are you imagining things? Or is this real?
Hobie plans on becoming a counselor himself when he’s older. Miguel rolls his eyes when he hears about it. All of the campers know him. He’s super popular!Always comes in clutch during ultimate frisbee. His team almost always wins just because of him. Knows all of the camp songs and cheers, but his face is deadpanned when it’s time to sing them.
All the counselors know Gwen as “the quiet one”, but that’s just how she acts around them. Around her friends, Gwen is always laughing and doing weird things like “rating people’s feet”. For her activities, Gwen chooses arts & crafts, creative writing, volleyball, and snorkeling. She is the first to help you find a bed in the cabin you’re both assigned to. The two of you decide to do arts & crafts together, where you make bracelets for your water bottles and tie-dye shirts. One day, during a camp game, you’d taken a horrible fall. You tore a muscle in your leg and could barely walk around. Gwen immediately volunteered to help you to the nurse with your counselor, Miguel. Even though you were in agony, the way Gwen’s supportive words were whispered to you made you feel hot. Suddenly, you began to see her in a different way, especially when she still helped you around camp. Her caring hold was so… comfortable, and wholehearted, and swiftly your heart began to beat faster when she was around. Camp’s ending soon, and you desperately want to tell Gwen how you feel… will you?
She smells like sunscreen and sunshine. Has so many stickers on her water bottle, and half of them are peeling. Dyed her hair pink at camp so her dad wouldn’t know. Miguel was too tired to do anything about it. Her hair takes hours to dry, so her clothes are always sopping wet after she gets out of the lake.

Thinking again about the Missing Generation Team between Dick and Tim that Jason should have (instead of stealing his brothers' close friends), and the balance of age-proximity.
A whole handful of the people I think who naturally fit into this team are not from the big families (for instance Ray, Grant and Argent are INSTANT gimmes as far as I'm concerned, down to thematic resonance and useful existing conflicts), but I'm challenging myself to put together a team that DOES use major family characters, but also doesn't just take prominent Titans or YJ members, and also isn't grabbing people 5-10 years older than Jason:-
Bat: Jason Todd (the point of this exercise)
Super: maybe Natasha? Alternatively if you want the disillusioned darker pick, it's Match (lol). Edit: it's been pointed out one of Linda or Mae would also work here, depending on the vibes wanted.
Flash: ...look the closest option is Avery, though she's a bit young. Maybe Jesse but Jesse hates doing the team thing, she's too busy. This is probably the family you leave out. (Dark pick is Thad. Obviously).
Wonder: Artemis was probably the best call of the lot, but I think the age gap's still a bit much. Alternatively, you've got Yara Flor, who I think would also work here. Edit: Galaxy brain suggestion of Nessie Kapatelis is sending me. Why not? Silver Swan on this team?
Aqua: can you say Koryak? Let's all agree Koryak would be hilarious.
Arrow: it hurts my heart to say this, but...Connor. Agewise Connor works and isn't heavily associated with either Dick or Tim's teams. Also then you get an extreme pacifist and that's fun.
Green Lantern: Kyle. Not only the right age (and comes as a set with Connor), but again is both that bit younger than Dick's Titans and never really was a Titan.
Extra: Rose. Rose has been the most obvious gimme to match up with Jason ever since his resurrection, at least they're finally using it.
Conflicted Morality Team: Jason, Koryak, Match, Thad, Rose, Artemis.
Chaos Team (it explodes both in terms of power and fights): Jason, Koryak, Grant, Argent, Ray, Audrey, Rose.
Feelings of Inadequacy Team: Jason, Rose, Connor, Kyle, Koryak, Argent, Artemis, Grant, Ray.
Jason-free Team That He's Not Jealous Are His Missing Peers: Kendra, Cynthia, Natasha, Connor, Kyle, Argent, Grant, Ray. Fuck this team would go hard. Bring my 90s kids back together!!!

Inciting Incident (Thank Goodness)
One of the most popular songs in Wicked is sung by Galinda, and centres around the idea that the society she lives in is corrupt and that she is the only one who knows how it really works. But is she right about that? Does she actually know as much as she thinks?
I think the answer is complicated, and that's the fun of it. I think that Glinda has intellectually grasped that the system is flawed, but I don't think she's emotionally wrapped her head around it. Case and point, the complete and utter cognitive dissonance that is Thank Goodness.
Let me explain.
SPOILERS AHEAD: (Wicked, The Trekkie's Tale)

Thank Goodness is actually two songs. Thank Goodness itself, and a reprise of No-one Mourns The Wicked. So, it's a rehashing of the first act, opening with Glinda conversing with the crowd, the difference is whether or not she is appearing to agree with it.
In the first Glinda tries to argue for Elphaba's morality, and it frames the entire story. But now, Glinda stands idly by and goes along with all that the chorus says while they get more and more worked up by lies that she knows to be untrue.
You would think that the two segments of the song being in agreement would mean that they go well together, but they really don't. Thank Goodness and No-one Mourns The Wicked do not fit with each other at all, in my opinion.

So, what does this mean?
I think that this song shows Glinda lying to herself, and finally starting to crack and realise what is happening.
Glinda spends this song deflecting from the problem, instead of confronting it head on. She relies on popularity and giving the people what they want to distract them.
My ex-girlfriend is being hunted by the masses for something she didn't do, but look over here, I'm getting married!

The obvious thing here is the tense. This is happening now, as opposed to something the characters have lived through and made it out the other side of. It is more immediate.
But the other thing that I want to point out is the wall that the Ozians are putting up. The reason Elphaba can't get through to anyone is because they think she is lying, because who are you more likely to believe, someone who you trust implicitly, or someone who everyone around you says is dangerous?

The song is broken into four sections. The introduction, Glinda's two reflections, and Madame Morrible's story, which prompts her to change her mind a bit.
"When you bowed before his throne
He decreed you'd hence be known
As Glinda the Good, officially!"
The following is an excerpt from The Trekkie's Tale, a Star Trek fanfic first published in 1974.
"Gee, golly, gosh, gloriosky," thought Mary Sue as she stepped on the bridge of the Enterprise. "Here I am, the youngest lieutenant in the fleet - only fifteen and a half years old." Captain Kirk came up to her...
"Here, take over the ship for a minute while I go get some coffee for us."
This is the archetypal Mary Sue story, a format where the protagonist gets all that they want and more. The world revolves around Mary Sue, and as a result, it isn't particularly compelling. She wins everything, then she saves the day and dies, and everyone mourns her.
Nobody online seems to be able to agree on whether this story was a satire of general fanfiction trends or not, a fact that I find rather funny.

But compare that to the story Madame Morrible is telling about Glinda. Allegedly, the wizard gave her the title for... not much actually. In Morrible's version of events, good people get things just because, and nobody is asking any questions.
Essentially, Glinda is getting all that she wants on a silver platter, with no questions asked, no strings attached. Well, one string attached.
"Then with a jealous squeal
The Wicked Witch burst from concealment
Where she had been lurking, surrpetitially!"
I mentioned in my post on Defying Gravity (maybe go check that one out) that the central conflict that ended Elphaba and Glinda's relationship was that Elphaba was prepared to sacrifice everything, and Glinda wasn't. But Glinda did have to give up something to achieve her dream, and I don't think she quite understood that until now. To get the power she craved, Glinda had to lose Elphaba.
This song is essentially bludgeoning Glinda over the head with the fact that this tradeoff was not worth it.
That is the dissonance inherent to Glinda's entire character. She recognises the flaws in the world around her but has convinced herself that it will be worth it when she gets to power.

I don't think that Galinda would have realised this, and I am making a point of differentiating Glinda and Galinda. In my mind, Glinda is the version of this character who fell in love with and was changed by Elphaba. The two characters are incredibly similar, and one is an evolution of the other, but it is the influence of Elphaba that makes the difference.
Galinda was seeking power for the sake of it, a person who got her way because she couldn't understand anything else. But Elphaba changed that and gave her a purpose for seeking to climb the ladder. I think Glinda believed she could make a difference from within the structure of Oz, probably to help Elphaba.
Glinda has got everything she theoretically wanted, but at the behest of the reason she was doing it, and now that she is here, she can't even initiate the change she wanted to change. Glinda made the wrong choice, and is only now realising it.

If you are wondering why I've been leaving Glinda's monologues until the end, it is because they make my case for me, and make analysis rather difficult as a result. I have been saying over and over that this musical is about dreams and reality colliding, and that is explicitly stated in these verses.
The fact that there are two of these mirrors the two sides of Glinda's character. The first is the side that craves the attention and has got everything that she wants, then the song reminds her of Elphaba, and she tries again with a more nuanced perspective.
"Though it is, I admit
The tiniest bit
Unlike I anticipated
But I couldn't be happier
Simply couldn't be happier
Well - not simply
'Cause getting your dreams
It's strange, but it seems
A little, well, complicated"
This is literally what I've been saying. She's got what she wanted, but not in the way she wants. It's complicated, and that facade of hers is finally cracking.

That duality is mirrored by the time signature, which is maddening. The song oscillates between a ton of different signatures, and if someone with more musical knowledge understands anything more about this than me, please give me a hand.

From my, admittedly limited, understanding, this feels like a lack of surety. Glinda doesn't know what she wants or thinks anymore, so she can't decide what she is singing.
It also gives an incredibly informal tone, as the lack of structure matches how a person speaks, almost. There have been two characters who have distinct speech patterns in this musical, Madam Morrible, and Glinda. The script of both of whom is written in recurring patterns and rhythms, making up words to match the metre of their sentence. It's pompous and pseudointellectual.
This is most obvious in how smooth the start of Defying Gravity is. There, Glinda doesn't have to change how she talks to match the song, because she is already speaking in the right rhythm.

Cynthia Erivo's rendition of this song in PBS's Wicked In Concert is phenomenal and I highly recommend you check it out, not least of all because removing the crowd gives the song a completely different vibe.
But here, halfway through a song, she gives up with artfulness and just speaks her mind. It's still a song, so you still get the rhythms and melodies, but that is breaking down, and is gone in the script from this point forwards. That's partially why I say Glinda and Galinda are different people, they sound different to each other.
There are a few almost exceptions to this rule, and I say almost exceptions because they come really close to breaking the mould, but don't.

In this exception, Glinda is trying to convince herself that she is happy. The song is limited to one thought, the idea that Glinda should be happy, and there can't be anything wrong. She has got everything she wanted, and that would make her happy, right? Happy is what happens when all of your dreams... That's the word that throws her off, dreams.
This is no longer Glinda's dream.

This song is a microcosm of Glinda's entire arc in the musical. She follows the story laid out for her, but is changed by the journey until it no longer fits. She has changed, and now she can't do anything about it.
Ironically, Glinda has gained all the authority she could dream of, but she is more powerless and has less agency than she started with, and all of that happened without her notice.

There's a couple of things get, lost
There are bridges you cross
You didn't know you crossed
Until you've crossed."

Final Thoughts
Genuinely, my favourite trope in a story is a character undergoing character development and not realising. For example, the "nobody's that heartless" line in The Emperor's New Groove.
But Glinda is my favourite example of this because of the way in which she reaches her conclusions. She is smart, possibly the most intelligent character in the entire musical, but her biases cause her to make some serious leaps of logic and ignore several things that would change her worldview until she runs headfirst into them.
Also, the stagecraft of this song is simple in order to not distract from Glinda's thoughts, but that means a lot of these photos are remarkably similar. I apologise for that.

im sorry i need to dump all my thoughts about ada x leon somewhere for personal fulfillment reasons,
big disclaimer: resident evil canon/lore is inconsistent and my feelings/thoughts on all this is NOT me stating it as fact. It's 99% speculation and me interpreting context. I'm just having fun!
it's really wild that i started my resident evil experience hating Ada. I did not understand her character and the way she's portrayed is very inconsistent and confusing (probably on purpose) and, like many others, I assumed the choices she made and the pain she inflicted on others was malicious and intentional.
But something clicked recently,,,I understand now that she didn't choose this life. She doesn't WANT to be a spy. She doesn't WANT to be a mercenary. Everything she was and everything she had was taken and stripped from her. She doesn't even have a real name anymore. I think seeing the small insight of her backstory in the biohazard manga really put all the pieces together and brain blasted me with understanding. Her entire character (to me, at least!) revolves around survival and self-preservation. She is a SELFISH character, not because of ego or power, but because of a LACK of power. She no longer has autonomy over her life in a way that matters and so the only thing left for her is to stay alive.
And I just think that ties so beautifully with Leon's struggles. Both of them being forced into this life where they have to live and die at the hands of the people who control them. And, listen...listen...it's overdramatic as fuck and a VERY idealistic/romanticized interpretation of their relationship, but honestly it makes me hella emotional thinking about Leon potentially being one of the few things in life Ada wants to live for other than herself. Him being the only person in the entire series who has ever shown her genuine, selfless kindness and care,,, and the fact that her circumstance and the trappings of her life forced her to betray him and she has to live with that guilt and has to come to terms with the fact that she will never genuinely connect with people because who even is she anymore? She has no sense of self.
And her entire campaign in RE6 resonates me in such a weirdly poignant and impactful way. RE6 has some WONKED UP writing and it's so silly and stupid; but I think if it was tweaked a little bit it would be a genuinely moving story about a woman losing her agency and bodily autonomy to a violent man who wants to own her and her fighting with his fabricated, demented vision of her. It's a manifestation of his greed and possession...and then she kills her clone and immediately after she sees Leon again and his first immediate instinct is to protect her and sacrifice himself again for her and throw himself into MORE bullets for her even after the betrayal of RE2 ........ and then after that she finally snaps and FINALLY chooses to fight for HER morals and HER justice by killing Simmons' bioweapon.
Like, listen, I hate the trope of "woman traumatized being saved by a man" in most cases, but something about the way I see Leon and Ada just makes SENSE man.
The fact that she specifically goes out of her way COUNTLESS times to protect him and save him and none of it is enough to get him to forgive her. None of it will ever be enough but she keeps trying anyways. Like, damn, his entire mission is Spain is only possible because Ada saved his ass like...four times??? And you can make reasonable arguments that she doesn't care about him he's only important for her mission, and to be honest I think that interpretation is also valid, but for me personally I just think she cares about him so much but it's in his best interest to continue believing she doesn't care.
And I just want them to be happy. But it will probably never work out between them, just due to everything...they can't escape their lives. They're both kept alive by two opposing morality systems. Leon's guilt and unyielding need to fight for truth and innocence and to protect everyone he's lost and everyone who depends on him. And Ada to hold onto herself and what whittling remains of self-identity and independence she still has when it was all taken from her, even to the point of someone making a damn clone out of her.
Man I just love them so much I'M SO EMOTIONAL!!!!!!!

been thinking too hard about my batman mob au. so i would like to share it. this is so long im sorry let me put it under a cut
i want to begin by saying that i think the only way bruce could feasibly become a mob boss is if he was able to be swayed to see that "clean" methods would genuinely do no good and in fact succeed in achieving more harm due to how much corruption and crime permeates the system. i think it would take a LOT to convince bruce of this, so he's kind of the hardest character to put in a mob au. however for the sake of fun we will suspend our disbelief a little bit!
okay, moving on, alfred: he's long been proven to be bruce's biggest enabler. i think he would get over it and end up helping him as he does as batman
as for dick: ooh boy. okay. so first of all i DO think bruce would let him kill zucco. however!! i think as dick grows up within the mob his strong code of morals will also begin to conflict with the lifestyle. but he's stuck there because bruce. insert all those posts about how dick grayson loves freedom and he also loves bruce and those things are at constant war with each other and because he loves bruce he sometimes clips his own wings. etc etc. i think he is the talia al ghul of this whole sitch if you get what i mean
speaking of talia!!! i believe her father would still be at odds with bruce bc yes, bruce is in crime, but bruce refuses to join with the league. so they semi-preserve their canon dynamic, except i think there's more opportunity for cooperation between talia and bruce considering talia's lexcorp era. in fact i do believe that lexcorp and waynecorp would become business allies during talia's time as ceo
but jason isn't dead. what his kidnappers hoped to do was turn him against his benefactor, taunt him about how it's been months and bruce still hasn't been able to save him, had refused to save him. but one night the door's left ajar and the sound of the TV drifts in, talking about how bruce is waging a bloody gang war, the first he's ever instigated, and jason... well. :)
as for jason—i think he would be the most loyal of the bunch. the first thing i actually dreamed up wrt this AU was a reimagining of ditf/utrh! in here, he's kidnapped by a rival gang. they demand bruce an impossible ransom, and bruce has no choice but to refuse. so bruce is sent a video of jason being killed.
"but poppy," you ask. "where's babs? tim? steph? cass? helena? jpv?" ok let's be real people aren't usually asking about the last 2 rip my babygirls BUT ANYWAYS—
the most important figure is HELENA. in the absence of batman, guess who's becoming the foremost protector of gotham??? EXACTLY. HELENA BERTINELLI. her whole backstory is that she wants to bring organized crime down SO WHO BETTER TO BE THE MAIN ENEMY IN A BATMAN MOB AU.
also because i love her.
im not biased i swear.
ALSO HER FIRST "ROBIN" (not necessarily named robin i just mean like. sidekick) IS JAMES COOPER FROM CAVALIERI'S HUNTRESS. CHUCK DIXON I HAVE NOT FORGIVEN YOU FROM ERASING HIM FROM MAIN CONTINUITY. he doesn't go out into the field that much bc he's still baby but he's the oracle before oracle. although when he does go into the field he's like. remember in cavalieri huntress where he was scurrying arohnd in the sewers and planting fucking grenades and shit. yeah.
later on he and babs will be best buddies <3 babs is his favorite aunt
ALSO!!! the rest of james' family will still be alive. idgaf. it's MY au and i can randomly reveal that his family has been alive all along IF I WANT TO. comic writers stop killing black people off for shock value challenge 2k24
also, james is ABSOLUTELY the one who wheedled helena into making a lair
babs does join the fray still! her story arc is mostly the same except that she partners with the huntress instead of batman. their ages are closer together so it's a slightly different dynamic
tim will remain a civilian. he will, however, be a very helpful civilian, in that he's the one who's stalking dick grayson & trying to prove that dick's involved in organized crime. him and dick will have the saddest tragickest "we could've been brothers. but not in this life. not ever." type of relationship. like jaderoy but platonic.
also tim & helena will have the same littlebrothernephew relationship that they have in canon 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶
i guess jpv will get roped in in a similar way to canon, but the idea of bane doing what he did to helena makes me so so sad :( however since she is taking batman's narrative space in this story then i think it should still proceed. i will then also insert a little bit of the vichelena agenda here—
in the wake of bane, JPV WILL STILL STEP IN AS HUNTRESS. "but they'll know he's not a woman" COWARDS. just give him a dye job and he'll look like helena. all white people look the same. he can pad the fucking suit or he can get the fuck out.
as for steph, she will absolutely be a vigilante alongside the huntress. her father is still cluemaster, after all, so she'll follow a similar arc to canon except it's helena and not bruce that she'll develop a complex mentor relationship with!!
i think helena can see a little of herself in steph. i think part of helena envies steph's moral compass also. iirc at steph's age, helena still thought her mafia family was okay & that it was just the people who killed them that were bad. yet steph, who's half her age, has no such illusions about her father, and is already fighting to try and bring him down
cass!!!! cass will still come to gotham!!!!! i can't see a way for cass to be on bruce's side in this au simply bc of how strong her morals are. she killed a man and never ever wanted to kill again, even with shiva where it was kill or be killed, she had already made up her mind to let herself be killed in the end. so she is going to be on the vigilante side :]
also, it would be amazing for me personally if cass came to gotham during azbats (...azhuntress?) era. ohhh lord. a situation RIPE for incredible interactions
i still haven't read damian & duke comics properly yet so that's going to have to be added in the future. but that's what's been rattling around in my brain so far!

For as long as Francisco Morales knew you, you loved to dance.
That's how he met you, on the dance floor at a Cumbia night at the local bar Santi dragged him to. You saw him sitting on the sidelines and lured him in with your eyes and sweet smile. 3 years later and you now lived together, and the kitchen tiles were your nightly dance floor. Even with those nightly slow dances, Frankie couldn't shake his natural shy nature when it came to beats swirling around his feet. You encouraged him that he was a wonderful dancer, he tried to avoid public dancing as much as possible, even if you begged him.
So it baffled him as to how he was convinced to attend at the edge of town with Santi. Music was blasting trying to be heard above the cacophany of voices of a hundred people chatting, eating, and dancing. He did not want to be here. At all. What he wanted to be doing was to be on the couch, with you, in his sweatpants, with a pizza and a crap movie on. He had tried all afternoon to get you to stay home instead, but you would not relent. You hadn't gone out in months and when Santi mentioned it to you and Frankie at your weekly dinner, you jumped at the chance. Frankie complaining and moping would not deter you.
The only thing that made this at all worth it was to see that smile on your perfect face. And the tight jeans you brought out for the night. One of your favorite songs starts blaring on the speakers and your eyes light up like fireworks, "Ah! Francisco c'mon! This song was playing when we met do you remember?"
Frankie shook his head, pushing his hat further down on his head, "Mmm no it's ok princessa. I think I'm going to sit this one out. You go on."
You pouted, "Frankie c'mon please? It's our favorite song. Please come dance with me?"
"No baby I'm not going out there."
You opened your mouth to fight with him, but Santi put his hand on your shoulder to stop you, "Hey don't worry muñeca, I'll go dance with you. Get on the floor, I'll meet up with you. I just gotta give Fish some cash for gas."
You nodded and gave a small smile to Pope, not without shooting a look at Frankie. Frankie watched you bounce along onto the dance floor already stealing the metaphysical spotlight. Santi punched Frankie on the shoulder, "It is unbelievable to me that you would let your girl out on that dance floor looking like that with a man that's not you."
Frankie rubbed his shoulder, "I'm not a good dancer, it's embarrassing."
Santi threw his hands to his sides, "So? Fish. You have the most beautiful girl in the place begging you to hold her and dance with her and you say no because you don't think you can dance? Literally all she wants is for you to spend time with you and to have fun with you. What is your deal?"
"You can dance with her! She'll have a much better time with you and won't get embarrassed. You're a much better dancer."
Santi looked at you, who was clearly waiting for him, and then looked back at Frankie. A plan started forming. With a sly smirk he purred out, "Hm. I am the better dancer. Maybe I can also show her who the better boyfriend is too."
Frankie crossed his arms, "What the fuck is that supposed to mean?"
Santi just tapped his shoulder, "Don't worry about it viejo. You go sit down, don't want you to strain your back or anything. I'll take good care of your girl."
And with that Santi waltzed over to you, all too excited to see how the night would play out. Frankie was always very even keeled. Methodical. Rational. Nothing really riled him up and he wasn't prone to jealousy. Unless it came to you. And Santi knew it. He had gone through enough tours and late nights to know what made Fish tick. And Santi was going to press all of them. Whatever it took to make Fish stop being such a baby.
You watched the interaction between the two friends, and it did not skip by you that Frankie clearly became angry at whatever Santi said. Santi on the other hand looked much too pleased. When Santi finally made it to you and took you to the middle of the floor you questioned, "What did you do?"
Santi smiled and whispered to you, "Frankie is being a baby and is shy about embarrassing you since he thinks he's bad at dancing. I'm just... pushing him out of the nest."
As you began stepping in time with Santi you raised your brows, "Pushing him out of the nest by..."
Santi grabbed your lower back, "Encouraging him to take what's his before someone else does."
"Santi I don't play like that."

Maybe it was wrong. No it was. It was wrong to mess with Frankie like this. But you rationalized it by thinking about how many times Frankie refused to dance with you recently. Even in the kitchen. How many times he refused show his affection in public. Because he didn't want to looked whipped. Maybe it was wrong. But you wanted Frankie to want you with the ferocity that he did when you first got together. And if it took Santi being a little mean... well...
Santi spun you around and kept you in beat with the other couples turning around. You laughed and sang with Santi as if no one was watching. But you could feel Frankie’s eyes raking over you. Burning like a hot stove. When you nodded to Santi to look, Santi chuckled and whispered, “Any minute now.”
Francisco Morales was on the edge of his seat. Every muscle in his body rigid as the rage bubbled up. He prided himself on keeping his emotions in check. Not letting passions get the better of him. But this was becoming too much. You were having too much fun. Santi was smiling way too much and holding you much too tight for his liking.
It ended now.
As one song ended and another song started, you saw Frankie stomping over. So authoritative that couples parted away from him and his wake. His face was fixed in a scowl, and you couldn’t help the shiver that ran up your spine. Frankie yanked Santi off you as gently as he could, “Alright knock it off. Get lost.”
Santi winked at you and laughed, “He’s all yours honey.” Santi smacked Frankie’s behind as he looked for another dance partner.
Frankie pulled you impossibly close. Your breath hitching and shyness rising. A slower more sensual number started up, and the butterflies began running amuck in your stomach. Frankie pulled your face to his to whisper to you, “Don’t make me jealous baby. I don’t like having to compete and get handsy.”
Frankie kisses your forehead and nips at your ear, causing you to gasp and giggle. You turn to face him, kissing his pouty lips. “I just wanted you to dance with me baby. I’m sorry if I made you think you ever had to compete with me.”
He hummed kissing you back, “It’s ok querida. I understand. I’ve been letting my pride get in the way of loving you the way you need me to. The way I want to. Just… let’s not play those games anymore yeah?”
You nodded, laying your head on his chest. You let your hands roam his broad back, murmuring, “You did look sexy stomping over here all jealous.”
Frankie laughed, leaning back to look at you, “Was it that obvious?”
You shook your head quickly and dramatically, “oh no… no not obvious at all.”
He laughed some more, pulling you back into his chest. You danced the night away with him. Feeling those same butterflies you felt that first night you met. Stepping all over those two left feet.

Kaishin Reveal and What It Means For You
Okay I need everyone to keep their shit together because I think this is being blown out of proportion. What follows is a quick rant about what the hell is going in the DCMK fandom and what is going on in fandom in general cause I don’t know why I’m seeing so many people lose their shit over something that was most likely going to happen followed by a quick lesson by a ‘fandom elder’ on how to ignore canon and make a ship your own. 
Spoilers ahead and whatnot. 
April 11th the DCMK 27 movie came out and information was revealed about how Kaito Kuroba and Shinichi Kudou are now cousins. Twitter lost its mind, Tumblr lost its mind, Discord servers are being created and now everyone is wondering what the hell should they do. 
I’m going to be honest, if you are a creator for KaiShin, please don’t delete your work. 
Either archive it or orphan it but please don’t delete it.
You put time and effort into this, into something you love, and just because the mangaka is so SO set in his ways of every single ship being friends to lovers does not mean you have to follow the same format. This doesn’t make you an incest shipper or whatever, it doesn’t make you a person who you don’t want to be, it’s just something that you had no idea of knowing was going to happen and I hope that you can look back at it fondly. 
Anyways, for those enjoying Kaishin on the sidelines all I’m going to say is Pick a Lane. 
Ignore Canon 
If you are an old time shipper then this may not be new for you. I mean Gosho literally had another ship that turned out to be cousins like at this point it’s ‘who is my cousin’ being played in the entire Detective Conan manga. You either already guessed it, are an active incest shipper (hi, hello, tis a me) or you are used to your favourites dying. This situation is no fucking different. 
Wolfwood is dead, in my head he is alive and well and treating his Plant husband right. 
Sora is missing, not in my head where he is kissing Roxas and Riku and Kairi and whoever else wants to get at the sunshine of the KH universe. 
Ben is dead, NOT IN MY REYLO FANFICTION. 
If you are a person who actively kept up with the manga or actively kept up with the show it is possible to ignore canon because they do not suddenly go super deep into being cousins and knowing about each other. They both don’t know if they are cousins or else the jig would be up immediately and the manga would be finished. You CAN ignore canon and if Kaishin is a ship that brings you joy and just serotonin production I implore you guys to choose this lane if you still want to enjoy Kaishin. 
It’s by far the healthiest option and teaches you how to curate your own fandom experience. 
Alternate Universes and You 
I was in the Hannibal fandom for a while and I clearly remember the ‘Hannibal is not a Cannibal’ tag on AO3. I thought it was hilarious but I would never dare to make fun of it because that is a prime example of CURATING YOUR FANDOM EXPERIENCE. 
Here are some examples on how you can start tagging:

Pre Kaishin reveal 
Or just make a quick blurb of how you mean this drawing/fic to be perceived. Again, this is your experience and you get to make the space you want to make. It’s up to you to make/interact with the content that makes you most comfortable. Again, if you want to delve into AU’s then that is up to you and I think it’s a pretty good lane for those who just feel weird about the whole reveal. 
Stepping Away
Your moral values are your own, people, and I am in no position or even want to judge them. If you feel uncomfortable about this now, see your love for Kaishin diminishing because of the reveal or just don’t see yourself shipping Kaishin in the future then you are more than capable of measuring your response and stepping away from the ship entirely for your own health. 
Is it going to be sad? Yes, but they are fictional and I recommend having an idea of what you have in your life outside of fandom that makes you happy that you can focus on as you go through this. College, work, whatever hobbies you may have taken up–hell put all your eggs into another ship that you know also brings you joy! 
Do not let this dictate your day or your month or your year. This is just fandom, you don’t have to make a big statement unless asked about it, you do not have to justify your decision to anybody, curate.your.fandom.experience. 
I’m going to end this with a repeat of what I just said. 
This is all fictional. We are playing in a fictional sandbox where we can all make whatever we want in any capacity and as long as it is tagged correctly then nobody’s lines have to be crossed. If you just started enjoying Kaishin, find out how you still want to enjoy it or step away. If you have shipped Kaishin for a while, do the same fucking thing! The east side of the fandom is having a field day with the movie, why can’t the west have some fun too?! 
I’m going to ship Kaishin (however all my reblogs will be moved to my other blog for incest-y stuff and just other content people may not vibe with in general) and hell I might just join the Kaishin Big Bang for the hell of it because I have been shipping this ship since I was 15 years old and I’m about to be 30 so….I’m staying fucking seated cause you aren’t getting me out of this chair, Aoyama, you aren’t getting me to ship Aoko with anyone other an Akako so suck on that.

First of all, Mafia prince meets poor boy whom he makes his bodyguard. They are canonically engaged. Some might say they're not that bad, but not only have both killed people without hesitation, they went into scenarios ON PURPOSE knowing what the end result will be. By the end of it all, power couple to the skies but also 2 unrelenting Mafia heads who can and will kill you if you so much as look at their partner wrong.
look the gun tango scene, when they're in the middle of an attempted coup, and they spin around while holding each other and shooting people, is the most iconic thing ever
For Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu:
you've got the founder of the fantasy ancient Chinese CIA and the leader of what is essentially the mafia and then they're soulmates and in love. they're both willing to kill anyone who dares hurt the other while also just wanting a soft domestic life together
Zhou Zishu is an assassin and spymaster who put the current Emperor on the throne, and then quit his job by faking his death (kinda, hes still dying but not as fast as he was supposed to). Had done A Lot on his old job, including murdering children (more than one, and at least one of them in a way I can't even describe without several trigger warnings), exterminating whole families, war crimes (and i dont mean this in a buzzword way, i mean "organized a public execution of foreign diplomats during war time")… btw he doesn't feel particularly bad about any of this, because he believes it was necessary. Like he wouldn't do it for fun, but he thinks the ends (putting a good Emperor on the throne) justified the means (all of the atrocities). As a retiree, he definitely cut down on the amount of morally reprehensible murder, but not murder in general. He still routinely kills ppl, he just doesn't go out of his way to kill more. Wen Kexing, meanwhile, is the Ghost Valley Master - Ghost Valley being a place where the worst of criminals are exiled. Even in such a place, he has reputation as a complete lunatic, owed partially to the fact that he either skinned a man or fed him his own flesh or both at one point, and partially to him having a rule where he would kill anyone who came closer than 3 meters to him. But in truth, everything he'd done was to survive the Ghost Valley and eventually take revenge for his parents, who were brutally murdered when he was only nine. By the start of the novel's timeline, he put his plan in motion - the plan that would drown jianghu in blood, but also deliver poetic justice to all responsible for his parents' deaths, as well as all who'd commit the same crime given the chance. And these two men, these two murderers and schemers, meet - and unexpectedly, find in each other the person who /understands/. The person who is just as ruthless and whose hands are just as bloody, but also the person who knows standing at the top of the world is not worth it, who seeks the same freedom of leaving it all behind, and who is still, underneath it all, a human, with human heart seeking connection. So you have this couple who understand each other with barely a word, and who want the same things - who are so hungry for domesticity and for people they can just goof around with when all their lives they had to measure every step and word - but ALSO where one half a couple is like "i gotta go murder hundreds in revenge" and the other half is like "ok pick you up at 6". (This btw is why I'm submitting novel's iteration of the couple in particular. Show wenzhou with their ridiculous breakups over morality could Never.) Also they were both hiding who they are when they first met, and later flirted about having figured each other out. Finally, I'll leave you my favorite quote that just. perfectly sums up their relationship: "And just like that, they fell asleep in each other's arms, steeped in the smell of blood."
You’ve probably already had submissions for them but I’ll add on. One of them founded an assassin’s guild and killed a staggering number of people. His malewife is the leader of a sect of insane murderous outcasts, and he attained his position by proving to be the most crazy and murder happy of them all. Most of the plot involves him wandering around watching his schemes get more people killed. Together they adopt a kid that was only orphaned due to said scheming (oops). They’re terrible and I love them.
