MIN YOONGI
FAVOURITE:
Yoongi prides himself in being your favourite.
Relishes in knowing he’s your favourite. Yoongi has always carried this certain smugness to him because of it. Yoongi imagines you hold him on a pedestal in your mind. Above Namjoon above Jungkook above them all because Yoongi is your favourite always has been always will be.
Your first.
Your favourite.
Yoongi was 25 when he first realised he was your favourite. You had kissed him the night before you were set to move in with Jungkook on the rooftop of your shared dorm building the sun set and the air cool.
“Yoongi i’m sorry i—”
“Don’t apologise” He tucks a piece of loose hair behind your ear your cheeks dust a pretty shade of pink.
Cute.
Yoongi moves his hand away from your face and turns to lean over the balcony eyes now taking in the view of Gangnam after hours.
“How come you’re here? didnt Namjoon want to speak to you or something?”
“Oh uh yeah!”
You’re flustered by the sudden question.
Cute.
“-he did but uh Namjoon can wait… right?”
You play with your hands as you speak your tone of voice anything but confident.
“Right” Yoongi confirms.
Namjoon can wait.
Namjoon will wait.
Sure Yoongi feels a little guilty on keeping Joon waiting but his ego is way too high right now pride practically overflowing.
“You picked me over Namjoon”
He’s giddy body warm with emotion.
“What?”
Yoongi doesn’t respond. He can’t. Not that he heard you anyways, too many thoughts consume him in this moment. He wishes he could stop time. Wishes he could take a photo of this moment wishes he could replay this scene over and over again wishes he could write down the exact words the exact touches you had just exchanged on a piece of paper and hang it in a museum for all to see. Call him psychotic call him insane he’s way beyond caring at this point because this moment right here means everything to him. So long of silently fighting to be at the forefront of your mind and finally an opening.
An opening you had gone out of your way to create for him.
You had picked him.
Yoongi.
Right now over Namjoon.
But Yoongi knows this is just the start. If he plays his cards right, which he will, and successfully roots himself as your first and your favourite.
In his peripheral watches the way you slightly bounce on the balls of your feet.
He knows you’re nervous and he knows he has to take advantage of that. He knows he has to get you hooked to solidify his place as your favourite. He knows he has to-
“Listen Yoongi, if i made you uncomfortable or…”
He turns to face you again.
“Let me kiss you for real this time”
6 Months after your shared kiss and one or two (definitely more) ‘casual hookups’ Yoongi is aware you’ve slept with Jungkook that you actively sleep with Jungkook.
Yoongi actually found out you were fucking messing with Jungkook from you yourself. The guilt of sleeping with another man behind Yoongi’s back eating you up so bad that you just had to blurt it out over your shared chinese at 3 AM. Yoongi had assured you that it was fine. I mean it was Jungkook…. Jeon Jungkook like loser Jeon Jungkook who had been telling you he loved you since he was 16 yet the relationship between you unchanging.
Oh, right…
he guesses it has changed now you know, you mess around and stuff. But it’s not like Jungkook is your boyfriend or- …okay so maybe it’s not completely ‘fine’ in Yoongi’s mind that you’re messing around with Jungkook he might be a little jealous but admittedly Yoongi sleeps with other people here and there too he can’t be a hypocrite now!
And it was inevitable, well that’s what he tells himself. You’re both the same age, live in the same house and Jungkook is clearly into you and you—
it doesn’t matter because it was inevitable.
Inevitable yet unchanging of Yoongi’s position as your favourite. That he wants to be is sure of. Because from 9 to 5 to 10 3 or 12 Yoongi is the one you call, work hours he’s the one you bother and after work hours he’s the one occupying your time. Not Jungkook not anyone else just Yoongi, your favourite.
When you became close with the members of seventeen Yoongi still stood confident in his position as your favourite. When you went on that date with Mingyu, when those pictures of you and Sungcheol got leaked when you wouldn’t stop talking about that Woozi guy, Yoongi was certain he was still your favourite. Sure he did get into a couple of fights broken a few bones but it was all within reason and definitely not because his position as your favourite felt as if it was being threatened.
Yoongi has always been your favourite
from the moment you gave him the opportunity to be
from the moment you kissed him
from the moments you’ve chosen him over someone else
from Minho to the Seventeen guys to Jungkook you’ve always come back to Yoongi.
Always.
So those 4 1/2 months, not that he was counting, you were with Jaehyun Yoongi for the first time was admittedly worried.
Worried.
So fucking worried.
You suddenly like sand in his hands 4 1/2 months of torture.
Slipping through his fingers.
4 1/2 months of waiting.
Right in front of his eyes.
4 1/2 months of wondering.
Unsure on what to do.
4 1/2 months of doubt.
4 1/2 months of regret.
4 1/2 months of cheap alcohol.
4 1/2 months of unsent messages.
4 1/2 months you sand slipping through his fingers. Yoongi unsure on what to do.
The day you a Jaehyun broke up Yoongi was already one foot out the door but Namjoon told him not go and then Hobi sent a text saying you were with him and then 30 minutes later another saying you were on your way to see… Tae?
You still sand slipping through his fingers but it shouldn’t be like that no not now because Yoongi is your favourite. Your first your favourite and you’re not in a relationship so things should be back to normal but you, still sand slipping through his fingers no- Days pass he thinks about you going to Tae he thinks about you Taehyung and Namjoon, he remembers Hoseok punching Jaehyun sand NO he thinks about valentine’s day you, Seokjin Taehyung slipping through his fingers. Jungkook and you but he is your first so why are you still—
Sand.
Slipping through his fingers.
Why?
It’s not a question of why anymore, is it?
Yes Min Yoongi your first.
But your favourite?
False.
Yoongi was never your favourite
but you,
definitely his.
some overall context this is from yoongi’s pov so if like points contradict and shit if just representation of how his mind is atm and all that like yeah idk if it translated well lmk :3

A/n: 100+ follower special !!
I’ve been doing a lot of headcanons lately so I pinky promise there’ll be some kind of oneshot coming soon 🙏
Warnings: None !! Just some good old fashioned fluff :3
Fluff✔️ Comfort❌ Angst❌ Smut❌
Tumblr media Tumblr media
‧₊˚✧ Alastor ✧˚₊‧
📻𖤐 When Alastor forms a close bond with you (and I’ve mentioned this before), he’d want to spend more time with you. Even if that’s just sitting in silence together and reading your own separate books
📻𖤐 Who knows? Maybe he’d let you lean against him, head on his shoulder, as he reads to you?
📻𖤐 This guys primary love language is quality time for sure. A close second perhaps acts of service.
📻𖤐 Biggest mamas boy ever…. But I’m sure we all knew that already
📻𖤐 LOVES to go on walks with you, especially during the afternoon or at night.
📻𖤐 Would link your arm with his and chat with you as you went on your daily stroll together… you’re not quite sure when it became a routine but it did.
📻𖤐 Huuuggeee story teller
📻𖤐 100% laughs at dad jokes and will also make them from time to time
📻𖤐 Always winning every single IDGAF war because he genuinely, wholeheartedly, just doesn’t give two shits 💀💀
📻𖤐 Can’t swim. I don’t know how to explain why I think this but I just KNOW its true
📻𖤐 Freezes like a deer in headlights (quite literally) when you shine a bright enough light at him
Tumblr media
‧₊˚✧ Angel Dust ✧˚₊‧
🕸️ᥫ᭡ Angel would be the absolute BEST at giving out hugs oh my goddd, he’s got six arms for a reason, baby !
🕸️ᥫ᭡ I feel like he’d have fun dancing !! (I mean “Loser, Baby” was enough evidence for me)
🕸️ᥫ᭡ Competitive as fuck, UNO would actually be so fun with him 😭 (gets so genuinely excited when he wins too, gloating about it and everything like he just won the lottery)
🕸️ᥫ᭡ Biggest shoplifter ever and most of the time it’s not even because he can’t afford it, he just does it for fun.
🕸️ᥫ᭡ Smells realllyyy good all the time, he’s got the best perfumes ever
🕸️ᥫ᭡ Spa-days/Self-care days quickly become a Saturday night thing for you two once you become one of his besties. And I’m talking the whole shabang like face masks, candles lit and snack tray out as he paints your nails for you 💕
🕸️ᥫ᭡ It’s something Angel genuinely looks forward to as well (ᵒ̴̶̷᷄⩊ᵒ̴̶̷᷅)
🕸️ᥫ᭡ Primary love language is most likely physical touch, we’ve all seen how touchy he can get 🤞
🕸️ᥫ᭡ Getting to know his real name and getting to call him by it means he trusts you a lot, he doesn’t give that privilege out to just anybody.
🕸️ᥫ᭡ On a less serious note, he’s definitely a huge show off 💀💀
🕸️ᥫ᭡ Amazing at doing makeup, will do your makeup if you asked him to (might accidentally poke you in the eye or something though lmfaoo)

‧₊˚✧ Husker ✧˚₊‧
🍺🃁 Needs glasses and HAS them but just doesn’t wear them for whatever reason. He looks good in them though !!
🍺🃁 Cheats in any card game ever. Wins 9/10 against you because of that reason (he’s also a gambler so that’s a big factor as well obviously)
🍺🃁 Bros the type of guy to call you “doll” and “baby”
🍺🃁 Primary love language?? quality time 🙏 🙏acts of service and physical touch are both tied for second place (but you only ever really get the physical touch one if you’re his s/o)
🍺🃁 Again, we all saw “Loser, Baby” this mf can DANCE and he enjoys it too
🍺🃁 Jazz is one of Huskers favourite music genres for sure
🍺🃁 You two don’t really have a routine hangout type thing but he does enjoy it when you come around to the bar to just hang out with him while he cleans and whatnot :3
🍺🃁 Trust, you will be given a specialized nickname just for you once he considers you a close friend of his.
🍺🃁 He’s a great listener but gives very blunt advice, doesn’t sugarcoat shit if you ask him for his opinion on something.
🍺🃁 Weirdly caught up with mental health stuff, like he knows a lot about it
🍺🃁 Poor Husker does NOT like the cat noises he makes but he literally cannot control them 😭😭 (believe me, he’s tried)
Tumblr media
‧₊˚✧ Vaggie ✧˚₊‧
🗡️☪︎ Vaggie is NOT a morning person, usually sleeps in until around noon
🗡️☪︎ Would have good fashion taste
🗡️☪︎ Vaggie is also a very competitive UNO player, probably ends up yelling at Alastor for making her pick up all those “pick up four” cards when everyone plays together (yes, he looks smug as fuck while doing it and yes he was saving them just for her 💀💀)
🗡️☪︎ Has beef with almost all of the guys at the hotel but Husker is chill for the most part
🗡️☪︎ Adding onto that last one, it doesn’t really take much for a man to piss her off tbh (she’s so real for this)
🗡️☪︎ Would spar with you if you asked and gets really into it too !! She’s careful not to actually hurt you though and it’s a great way of bonding with her (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)
🗡️☪︎ Verrryyyyy jealous girl, remember when Emily took Charlie’s hands in the heaven episode?? (The look on her face made me giggle)
🗡️☪︎ Hates pickles. She just looks like she’d be a pickle hater
🗡️☪︎ Primary love language is words of affirmation
Tumblr media
‧₊˚✧ Charlie ✧˚₊‧
⭐️☀︎ Charlie is infact a morning person and wakes up at the crack of dawn everyday for zero reason whatsoever 💀
⭐️☀︎ She does her absolute best to include everyone in every activity going on, she doesn’t ever want anybody in the hotel to feel excluded
⭐️☀︎ Biggest shipper EVER. You ever told her you have a crush on someone here?? Oh god..
⭐️☀︎ She’ll silently fan girl from a distance whenever you and your crush are together to the point Vaggie has to drag her away
⭐️☀︎ Charlie can be a little bit overwhelming at times but her happiness is suppeerrr contagious
⭐️☀︎ The best way to spend time and bond with her?? Literally just offer to do anything with her and she’ll do it, I don’t think she’s too picky
⭐️☀︎ Learnt some Spanish from Vaggie and tries to use it with her to be all romantic but her pronunciations are fucked up (She’s trying her hardest guys okay 😞🙏)
⭐️☀︎ Totally asked Vaggie one time as a pick up line if she fell from heaven and she broke out into a sweat (poor girl)
⭐️☀︎ Primary love language is words of affirmation. quality time is somewhere up there too though
⭐️☀︎ Will break out into song a lot and it’s kinda funny to watch
Tumblr media
‧₊˚✧ Niffty ✧˚₊‧
🧼𐙚 Acts a lot like a hyperactive toddler on crack. Has zero chill and it’s pretty rare to see her actually calm
🧼𐙚 I think Niffty lowkey has stage freight, like we all see how she just automatically freezes up when a camera is on (I mean it’s happened twice in the show already)
🧼𐙚 Takes a lot after Alastor, sees him as some sort of older brother figure as well 😞🩵
🧼𐙚 When playing UNO, she’d fucking EAT the cards so she’d win. Deadass just nom nom nom that shit
🧼𐙚 She’s a big giggler, she’ll laugh and giggle at almost everything so it’s not hard to get her to do so
🧼𐙚 She’d probably really enjoy it if you let her just sit with you for a while and braid your hair (But she’d steal some for her “collection” in the process)
🧼𐙚 I’m actually not too sure what Nifftys love language would even be? Perhaps acts of service (she is a maid, after all)
🧼𐙚 Okay 99% sure this is actually canon but she’s a hardcore germophobe, can’t handle when things are cluttered or a mess.
🧼𐙚 Has a collection of cleaning supplies in her room
+ Bonus !!

‧₊˚✧ Vox ✧˚₊‧
📺☆ Whenever Vox is sleeping or thinking really hard about something, the voxtek symbol will bounce around on his screen like the DVD logo thing
📺☆ Not very big on pda, he has an image to uphold, after all. (But he would enjoy affection in private though)
📺☆ Not above watching you through whatever technology you have, he spies on you a lot 💀💀
📺☆ Also guys…… stop pretending Vox isn’t a whiny little bitch, because he is (trust me y’all, read some of @bigfatbimbo’s stuff)

How To Master Witchcraft Even Having Little Spare Time
Tumblr media
When Life Makes Practicing Witchcraft Difficult
Are you finding it hard to make time for your daily magical practice? Do you feel overwhelmed by all the other obligations of life, and have no idea how to fit one more thing into your already crammed schedule? You’re not alone! This is one of the most common things that I hear when I chat online, what’s stopping them from really pursuing the craft. It always comes down to too many responsibilities and too little time.
The truth is that the flashy witchcraft practices you see online are often staged, exaggerated, or even entirely made up. Comparing yourself and your practice to what you see other people doing online simply isn’t reasonable. Why would a mom of three who also works full time have a witchcraft practice that looks the same as a university student on TikTok who has no job and very few responsibilities? The answer is, she wouldn’t! That would be insane!
The thing that is actually causing such a major block in your ability to practice witchcraft isn’t a lack of time, it’s actually a lack of self-compassion. By constantly comparing yourself to other people and getting down on yourself about how you can’t, or you’re not good enough, or you’ll never be a real witch because… you’re adding a huge amount of judgment and shame to your life and your craft.
In all honesty, this kind of negative self-talk takes up a ton of time and energy! That’s time and energy that you could be putting toward literally anything else, like, ya’know… witchcraft. Rather than spending a bunch of time and energy beating yourself up for not being a good enough witch, why not make ANY amount of witchcraft a win?
The key is to start small. Instead of fitting an hour-long ritual into your daily life, try sneaking in a few minutes of magical activity here and there. Regularly writing down your thoughts in a journal that you keep near your bed or planning out a few quick spells can be just as powerful as doing full-fledged rituals. Just because it’s not big or flashy doesn’t mean that it doesn’t count! Start counting absolutely every magical moment, even 10 seconds of tuning into the energy of a room, as real witchcraft and you’ll likely find that you’re already doing way more than you thought.
You can also try to make small tasks magical. Channeling your energy toward something small can help increase the power of your spellwork and ritual work significantly. Even doing ssimple things like taking care of plants or wearing particular colors or jewelry that have special meaning for your practice can add an extra layer of magic to any activity.
Most importantly, give yourself permission to take breaks from witchcraft when needed—it’s ok if you don’t always find time for it! It’s more important that you take care of yourself first—and will ultimately help maintain stability and balance in both your magical and mundane life.
Where to Find Magical Time in Your Schedule
You don’t need to give up on living a magical life just because you don’t have the time to focus on witchcraft. With some creativity, you can find a few moments here and there to fit in magical practices but again, the key is to approach this with self-compassion. You may not be able to find time every day. Even one extra moment of focus on your craft during the week counts as a win!
Start by mapping out your weekly schedule. Take a look at the hours you spend on work and other responsibilities. Think of what small changes you can make in order to create space for witchy activities—even if it’s only five or ten minutes here and there.
For example:
Wake up 10 minutes earlier for a morning tarot card pull
Take a short meditation break during lunch
Spend half an hour listening to an audiobook or podcast before bed or during your commute
Fit in manifestation sessions or spell casting during study breaks
You’ll soon find that you are able to fit in small doses of ritual and these small moments can really add up!
Finally, if even these small moments still don’t seem to be enough, look into creative ways to practice and immerse yourself in the world of witchcraft. From joining online communities to taking classes or workshops, to learning from books, there are plenty of ways to enrich and add depth to your craft that don’t have to take up a ton of time.
At the end of the day, carving out a successful magical practice requires a bit of ingenuity and flexibility. Don’t feel bad if you can’t meet the expectations of a glitzy witchy lifestyle—start with small changes and over time, you’ll be able to gradually create a more grassroots and fulfilling magical practice.
Establishing a Daily Practice
You might not think you can make time for a daily practice of witchcraft, particularly if you have a demanding job or too many responsibilities. But it’s actually easier than it sounds—you don’t need to do something elaborate. All it takes is a little bit of effort and the right mindset.
To establish a daily practice, start by carving out just a few minutes each day for yourself. This could be during your lunch break, when you wake up, or before bed—it doesn’t matter when, as long as it works for your schedule.
Here are some simple steps to get you started:
Choose something that resonates with you—this could be divination, writing, or meditation.
Create an easily accessible space where you can set up everything you need for your chosen practice. Not having to do any setup or put things away every single day takes a LOT of the burde out of this process and makes you much more likely to return to it regularly.
Be flexible. If something in your life changes, let your practice change with it. Consistency requires that you keep the reality of your life in mind! Sometimes schedules change, your energy levels change, and what you need and want from your practice changes. Switch from mornings to evenings when you need to, let yourself do a tarot pull instead of meditation sometimes, and build ease into the practice.
Finally, BE COMPASSIONATE WITH YOURSELF. Did you miss a day? That’s fine, life happens. You missed a week? No sweat, that’s life. Get back to it when you’re ready just stop agonizing over not doing things exactly right all the time. You can become a perfectly good witch even if you get it “right” less than half the time! You are good enough.
What Do You Do If You’re Short On Time And Not Sure Where To Start?
I get it. You’re busy, you have a million responsibilities, and finding time to practice witchcraft is one thing but you don’t even know what to DO with that time when you manage to find it.
Make Figuring It Out The Goal
If you have no idea where to start, the first thing you should do with the time you do manage to carve out is figure out where to start. Literally. That is a perfectly good goal to begin with. This could mean something like spending 15 minutes a day reading about witchcraft or spending a few minutes writing about what you actually want to do with your craft. It’s ok to spend a few weeks or even months just getting the lay of the land and figuring out where you want to focus your energies first. Witchcraft is a huge and incredibly varied subject and nobody expects you to just jump straight in and know exactly what you’re doing.
Start With What Interests You
It’s important to focus on what really resonates with you when it comes to your craft. Pick one thing that speaks to you the strongest and start there—maybe you begin by studying astrology or learning spells—and go from there. This way, you don’t feel overwhelmed with all the options out there and can concentrate on mastering that one thing first before moving on to something else. It doesn’t really matter what you pick as long as it’s something that piques your interest, there’s really no “correct” order to learn things in.
Learn from Others
No one ever said that mastering a magical practice had to be done alone. Reach out to experienced practitioners and those knowledgeable in witchcraft to pick up tips and learn from their experiences. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and to open up about your own struggles—not only will it help you to get perspective on things but it will also create a sense of community among those who have similar interests and goals.
If you want someone to help you learn witchcraft in a more structured way that takes a lot of the guesswork out of it, look on a site like Udemy.
Track Your Progress
Finally, make sure to keep track of your progress. This doesn’t have to be complicated; it can take no more than writing a few words in your journal each day or creating a spreadsheet or digital document to track your spells, rituals, divination, and other activities related to your practice. Write down all of your wins, big and small. In fact, especially write down the small wins! Remember that those little moments add up and they DO count.
By tracking your progress, you’ll be able to easily refer back to your successes, what worked and what didn’t. And on days when things seem to be hitting a dead end, you’ll be able to look at the progress you’ve made and remind yourself of how far you’ve come.
By integrating these tips into your magical practice, you’ll be well on your way to mastering witchcraft despite life’s little hiccups and obstacles.
When life gets overwhelming, don’t forget that you can still practice witchcraft. It doesn’t have to be an in-depth practice or a lengthy ritual – it can be a five-minute positive affirmation every morning or lighting a white candle every night before bed. While it’s important to build a strong foundation of knowledge and practice, a lot of times the simplest techniques are the most powerful.
Remind yourself that you are in control and have the power to shape your life. Invest in yourself and create a personalized practice that works for you, but remember that a little bit goes a long way. No matter how busy or stressed you might be, a few simple steps can take you a long way on your journey to mastering witchcraft.

Kathleen is not a nervous woman—she likes to think she never has been. In fact, most of the time she’s quite calm, quite put-together. She’s a planner, so everything must go exactly as she says, but that just means that nothing goes wrong. Kathleen is not a nervous woman because she plans everything so incredibly thoroughly that there isn’t a reason for her to ever get nervous.
But what she did not take into account in her meticulous prep and planning was Bradley Bradshaw.
She knows it was stupid of her not to. She is his assistant—he’s the very reason she has to make these plans in the first place. But it’s hard to think of your boss when you're juggling all sorts of meetings and training and PR. And it’s especially hard to remember that Bradley Bradshaw is not a morning person. So now Kathleen is pacing in the lobby of a hotel, her heels clicking against the floor urgently as her hair falls out of its once neat bun.
The revolving front door reveals your smiling face and Kathleen finally stops pacing. “Oh, thank god,” she looks as though she’s about to cry from relief. “Mr. Bradshaw isn’t waking up and if we don’t leave in the next 20 minutes, we’re going to be late to a meeting with that non alcoholic beer company that wants him in a commercial—”
You grab onto Kathleen’s shoulders as a way to physically remind her to breathe, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear for her. For a moment, all you do is help her breathe and then you let go of her slowly.
“Hey, listen, we got this,” you smile and fix her blouse. “So you need to stop panicking and take this time for yourself, just do whatever you need to, okay? I’ll take care of Bradley and I promise I’ll have him down here in 10 minutes.”
Kathleen nods vigorously, pivoting on her heels to go fix herself up in the bathroom when she pauses. “I said 20 minutes.”
“I know.” You’re already halfway to the elevator and you throw her a wink over your shoulder.
You take the elevator back up to your and Bradley’s hotel room, rifling through your purse for the key card as you wait for the doors to open. When you got up this morning, Bradley was still sleeping, but it was early and you figured his alarm was already set. You thought surely you could go explore the city, find a breakfast place, and eat at said breakfast place in the amount of time it would take Bradley to get ready. You were wrong.
The key card unlocks your room and you open the door slowly to reveal Bradley still very much asleep underneath the puffy, hotel duvet. You sigh heavily, setting your purse down on the armchair before creeping closer to Bradley’s sleeping frame.
“Good morning,” you whisper, dipping down so your lips brush his ear as you rub his chest. “C’mon, Mic, it’s time to wake up, honey.”
Bradley stirs, letting out a small groan as he stretches, and you press delicate kisses to the shell of his ear. Bradley smiles sleepily, his eyes still closed, “G'morning, baby.” His morning voice should be illegal, the gravely rasp doing more to you than you’d like to admit, and you have to firmly remind yourself that there’s no time.
“Mmm,” Bradley hums happily when he feels you move to straddle his chest, his hands coming up to knead your thighs slowly. “Wha’da doin’, trouble?”
You press a sweet kiss to his lips, giving the bottom one a light nip, and you rake back his curls from his forehead with a manicured hand. “I’m waking you up,” you tell him sweetly.
“Oh yeah?” A lazy smirk makes its way onto his features, his eyes still closed, as he gets more comfortable. “And how’re you gonna— WHAT THE FUCK!”
Bradley shoots up, nearly causing you to fall off the bed as you roll off him, sputtering and coughing. You’re cackling, holding the empty cup that used to be full of water to your chest. Bradley turns so his legs are planted on the ground, finally recovering from his choking and wiping water from his face before glaring at you.
“Jesus Christ, trouble, you fucking waterboarded me.” He pinches your thigh with a grumble and you roll your eyes playfully,
“That’s what you get.” You shove his shoulder with your foot. “You gave Kathleen a near heart attack. I thought you were gonna get up.”
You get off the bed, not even waiting to hear Bradley attempt to defend himself, and look through the various clothes he had hanging in the hotel closet. Moving past the t-shirts and hoodies, you get to his silk, short sleeve button ups, looking through the options with less thought and time than you usually do. Bradley seems to have gotten over your less-than-pleasant wake up call because he wraps his arms around your waist and buries his head in your neck.
“I didn’t wanna go,” he whines, pressing a line of kisses across the bare skin of your shoulder. “I just wanna stay here with you.”
You turn to give him a sympathetic smile, holding up a shirt that a similar pattern and color to the skirt you’re wearing. “Here, Mic, we’ll be matching. Go change please.”
Bradley sighs, but does so begrudgingly, emerging from the bathroom only three minutes later with his signature sunglasses resting atop his curls. You let out a loud wolf whistle—which does manage to get a smile on his face—and fan yourself dramatically.
“Well now look at me, I’m gonna have to fight all the ladies off you in a skirt.”
Bradley laughs, throwing his arm around your shoulders as he kisses the top of your head, and you remember to pick up your purse before you two head out the door. Grabbing the hand Bradley has around your shoulder, you look at his watch. 8 minutes. A grin lights up your face and you press a sweet kiss to the knuckle of Bradley’s thumb.
“What?” Bradley looks at you curiously as he presses the elevator button.
You just snuggle closer between his chest and arm. “Nothin’. I love you.”
“I love you too.” The elevator doors open and Bradley’s helps you inside, waiting for them to close before he speaks again. “But don’t think I’ve forgotten about you dumping water all over me because you are so in for it when we get back.”

You Don’t Go To Parties | R.C.
Tumblr media
Read part 2 here
Pairing: Rafe Cameron x Reader
Summary: Rafe flashes back on moments in your relationship as he looks for you at his party, even though he knows that he won’t find you.
Based on the song:
A/N: This is the longest fic I’ve ever written and I think the one I’ve enjoyed the most. This definitely isn’t canon Rafe but it is the Rafe I dream of. Rafe and Sarah are actually close in this because they deserve that and Sarah and Topper aren’t dating cuz I just don’t like them together. Also it is very very very much not proofread like at all
As I am an adult, all characters I write for are written as adults. Any minor characters will be aged up to the general range of their actor’s age.
Warnings: drug and alcohol use, addiction, arguing, harassment, talk of ward being a shitty dad
Word Count: 6.5k

25 minutes. That’s how long the party had been going on at the Cameron house. 25 minutes. That was how long Rafe had been looking for you at said party.
He hadn’t even realized he was doing it. Scanning the party every few minutes, his conscious mind chalked it up to wanting to know who was at his house and he left it at that. He didn’t want to think about it any deeper.
Take a shot. Scan the kitchen.
Do a line. Scan the basement.
Play a round of beer pong. Scan the backyard.
“Right, bro? Rafe, have you even heard a word I said?” A shove from Topper brings Rafe back to reality.
“Huh, what? Is it my turn?” Rafe turns back to the card table covered with red solo cups.
“We lost like five minutes ago,” Topper deadpans, “which you would know if you had been paying attention.
Where is your head, bro? It’s like you’re not even here. This is your party.”
Rafe just shrugs in response, scanning the backyard again.
“Who are you looking for?”
Rafe turns back to his friend. “I’m not looking for anyone.”
“Yeah, sure,” Topper says skeptically, “You’re just searching the crowd every few minutes for no reason.” He claps him on the back. “Real convincing.”
Rafe starts to make a noise of indignation, but Topper is already walking away, leaving him to his thoughts.
As much as he doesn’t want to admit it to himself, Rafe knows exactly who he’s looking for, and he also knows he’ll never find you in the crowd. You don’t go to parties anymore, and he only has himself to blame.

Growing up middle class in the Outer Banks was a weird experience. You weren’t a pogue and you weren’t a kook, and neither group made any attempt to claim you. You were just you.
You hadn’t wanted for much during your childhood, but you learned not to spend on needless expenses. Your parents taught you the necessity of hard work and they taught you how to budget. You didn’t go to lavish parties, but you weren’t going to bed hungry. As an adult, you worked two jobs, waitressing during the week and bartending on weekends, and your parents pitched in every once and a while to help you pay your rent. You weren’t rich by any means, but thanks to your work ethic and the kindness of your parents, you made it work.
Rafe Cameron grew up in a different world. He splurged endlessly, using up the massive allowance that his dad gave him. He didn’t care about price and he didn’t care about budgeting. Most of all, he had never worked hard a day in his life.
When he comes up to the bar one night while you’re pouring drinks, you don't spare him a second glance. He flashes you that crooked grin and calls you ‘darlin’’, but it doesn't matter. You know Rafe Cameron’s reputation and you don’t get tied up in the games of rich boys. You simply make him his drink and go on with your night.
Rafe on the other hand, is smitten from the moment he lays eyes on you. When the typical smile and sweet talk doesn’t have you falling at his feet like every other girl, he knows he’s a goner. He would make it his mission to catch your eye no matter what it took.
So he puts in the work, weekend after weekend he comes to the bar, day after day he comes to the restaurant. Each meeting is filled with flirty conversations and teasing looks, and despite your better judgment, you can feel him wearing you down.

Two months after your first meeting, Rafe saunters into the bar, just like he did every Friday night, and heads straight for you.
“Y/N.” He greets you, the same crooked grin on his face.
“Rafe,” you reply, the same even tone you always use, “The usual?”
“You know it, darlin’.”
“You’re later than usual.” You note.
He smirks at that. “Worried I wasn’t coming?”
You give him a look. “Not a chance,” you retort, “just thought maybe I had finally scared you off.”
“Impossible.”
You can’t help the small smile that crosses your face at his reply, and you turn quickly so he doesn’t see, playing it off as helping another customer. When you refocus your attention back on him, you realize he hadn’t taken his eyes off you. He scans your face, the look on his face more serious than usual and one you can’t quite read.
He leans in, eyes locked on your face and murmurs under his breath, “Go on a date with me, please.”
Rafe has never blatantly asked you out before. You know that it’s been his intention all along, all his flirting building up to this moment, but you didn’t expect such sincerity behind his words. And you certainly didn’t expect him to say please.
You want to say no. You know better than to get involved with someone like him, but Rafe has a gravitational force that pulls you, and everyone around him, in. So when he gives you a small, hopeful smile, you can’t help that your body leans closer to him. And you can’t help but say yes.
-
He picks you up at 6:00 on the dot Monday night, looking about as handsome as you had ever seen him in dark jeans and a light blue pullover. He hadn’t told you much about what he had planned for the night, just to wear something comfortable and he would take care of everything else.
You aren’t quite sure what to expect from Rafe Cameron on a date, but as he opens the door of his truck for you, looking down at you with a smile and a soft look in his eyes, you realize you aren’t worried.
Rafe drives you to a small clearing that you had never seen. It’s a grassy spot that overlooks a quiet area of the beach, and is just secluded enough to give the two of you privacy. He pulls in carefully, angling the bed of the truck toward the beach.
Once he parks, you reach for the door handle, but Rafe puts up a hand to stop you.
“Wait right here for a second, okay?”
He grabs a bag from the backseat and hops out of the truck, setting up the truck bed to his liking. When he finishes, he jogs over to your side of the truck where he opens your door and helps you out.
You raise an eyebrow at the gesture, a small smile gracing your face. “Quite the gentleman, Rafe Cameron.”
“I was trained well,” he jokes back at you.
As you round the back of the truck, Rafe jumps up onto the tailgate, reaching down a hand to help you up the big step. You’re thankful for the help as you almost fall, not once, but twice in the process.
“Well, that was graceful,” you giggle and Rafe laughs along with you.
When he’s confident you're steady on your own two feet, Rafe takes a seat on one side of the truck bed, motioning you to do the same across from him. Between you, he’s set up a small picnic with a few of your favorite foods and a variety of drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic alike.
“I wasn’t sure which you would want,” Rafe offers at your questioning glance, “I wasn’t sure how much you drink.”
Your heart flutters a little with the thoughtfulness of his words. It’s not what you would’ve expected from Rafe. You’ve heard the stories, and know his reputation. Rafe drank a high volume and often. You’d expected him to want you to do the same. Then again, nothing about your experience with Rafe has been what you expected.
The night was everything you could’ve hoped for. You and Rafe spend hours talking and laughing while feasting on the picnic he had brought. The conversation never seemed to lull, and even the quiet moments between the two of you felt comfortable.
As the sun went down over the water, you let out a content sigh. “It really is beautiful.”
Rafe hums in agreement, leaning back against his hands as he looks between you and the sunset. He can’t believe how lucky he is to be here with you. How he convinced you to go out with him is beyond his comprehension, but he’s going to enjoy it while it lasts.
A light breeze blows across the clearing, and you can’t help but shiver slightly. It was usually pretty warm in the Outer Banks, but considering it was nearing November, sometimes the nights get a bit chilly.
Noticing your discomfort, Rafe reaches through the open truck window and pulls out a jacket. He drapes it over your shoulders gently, and you feel yourself leaning into his touch. You look up at him, the ‘thank you’ getting caught into your throat when you realize just how close he is.
You can feel his warm breath fan across your face, his eyes flickering to your eyes and your lips, gaze intense. He’s waiting for your permission to make a move, so you tilt your head up ever so slightly. Moving so your lips are almost brushing against his.
He takes this as his cue, pressing his lips against yours. The kiss is strong, but gentle, Rafe’s mouth moving in time with yours as if you were made for each other. You feel like you’re floating, and you don’t ever want to come down.

(7 months earlier)
A month into your relationship, Rafe takes you to a party at his buddy Dylan’s house. It’s your first real kook party. Sure, you’ve been to your fair share of parties while living on the island, but none of them have been in mansions owned by rich parents who just let their kids have free reign.
You can tell Rafe feels comfortable like this, surrounded by rich kids in a big house with loud music and expensive booze. You know he’s been to plenty of parties just like this one, but you can’t help but feel out of place, even by the kook king’s side.
Luckily for you, Rafe steers you towards the kitchen pretty quickly, not wanting to share you with everyone the whole night.
“Wow, this is quite the party,” you state, gesturing around the room.
Rafe pours you a cup of beer and then grabs one for himself, tucking an arm around your waist to pull you into his body.
“What do you mean? You’ve been to lots of parties,” he comments.
“Not in houses like this, Rafe,” you laugh, “they have two ovens, and a fridge that looks like a cabinet.”
Rafe chuckles at that. “Fair enough.”
“Yo, Rafe!” A loud, frat boy looking blond enters the kitchen.
Rafe gives him a quick bro hug before leaning back into your side. “Hey man, what’s up?”
“Where you been lately, dude? I haven’t seen you at a party in forever!” He gestures toward you. “I take it this is the girl who’s been taking you all your time?”
Rafe smiles warmly down at you. “This is Y/N. Y/N, Trey.” He gestures back to the blond.
“Nice to meet you,” you offer.
“Yeah, you too.” Trey throws out the quick reply, clearly thinking of you as nothing beyond a fling. He turns back toward Rafe. “Look you didn’t hear this from me, but there’s some of the good stuff downstairs. You know what I mean.” He taps the side of his nose.
Rafe feels you stiffen against his side at the comment. “I’m good, man. Appreciate the heads up.”
Trey shakes his head, giving him an incredulous look. “More for me then.”
He walks away not long after, but you still feel on edge. Sensing your continuing discomfort, Rafe leads you away from the commotion and out onto an empty balcony.
“Are you okay?” He doesn’t crowd you which you appreciate, leaving a few feet of space between you. “I can tell that conversation made you uncomfortable.” For having known you only a few months, he seems to be able to read you pretty well.
You nod. “It’s just not really something we’ve talked about you know? The drug use.”
Rafe nods.
“Look, I don’t want to tell you what to do. And I don’t want to issue ultimatums. But I feel like we need to have a conversation about it before our relationship progresses any further.”
Rafe’s eyes never leave yours as he nods again, encouraging you to continue.
“I know it’s a big thing on the island, coke especially. I mean I don’t live under a rock. But I’m not comfortable around it, and I’m not comfortable surrounding myself with people who do it.” You pause for a moment, preparing yourself for what you have to say next. “Addiction is pretty prevalent in my family, and a lot of people have struggled with drug abuse. It’s a big deal to me and I don’t think I can be with you if that’s something you’re taking part in.” You hold your breath, knowing this could be the end of your budding relationship with Rafe.
He steps closer to you, reaching out to intertwine your fingers. “I understand,” he says with sincerity in his words, “I know I have a reputation Y/N, and I know you’ve looked past a lot of it to give me a chance.”
You look away, finding it hard to meet the intensity of his gaze, afraid of what might come next.
“I want you to feel comfortable around me, no matter what. Would it make you feel better if I told you I’ve been clean since we met?”
Your eyes snap to his at the question. “Really?” Rafe nods in reply. “Why?”
“I knew I wanted to be with you from the day I met you, and I knew in order for that to happen I had to be the best version of myself that I could.” He shrugs. “You’re worth more than the high.”
“Are you sure?”
“Absolutely.”

“I just don’t understand what you’re getting so upset about?”
“Rafe, I’m upset because we’ve had this dinner date planned for weeks and you suddenly canceled on me twenty minutes before you were supposed to pick me up.”
You’re standing on one side of your living room as Rafe paces across from you. Last night, the two of you were supposed to go to dinner at a nice restaurant. A date that had been planned two weeks ago when Rafe had first surprised you with the reservation. You had spent over an hour getting ready when he canceled on you with a text. No explanation as to why and a half assed apology. You don’t think he even realized you were upset about it until he showed up at your door this morning and saw the piercing glare you gave him.
“Look, there was nothing I could do about it, okay?” Rafe runs his hands through his hair. “Something just came up last minute.”
“And you won’t even tell me what it was.” His non-explanation does nothing to curb your anger. “How do you expect me to feel, Rafe?”
He softens when he sees the look in your eyes, realizing you're not so much mad as you are hurt. Hurt that he canceled, hurt that he won’t tell you why, hurt that he doesn’t seem to care.
“It was Sarah, and my dad,” Rafe offers in explanation, “I don’t know exactly what happened, but they got in this huge fight and I just needed to be there for her.” He moves closer to you. “I’m sorry, baby.”
All your anger fades away at his words. “Is she okay?” You and Sarah have gotten close since you started dating Rafe. You know all the Cameron kids have a strained relationship with their father, Rafe most of all. He’s never told you the full extent of his issues with his dad, but you know he’s very protective of his sisters when it comes to Ward.
Rafe nods. “She’ll be fine.” He wants to pull you into his arms, but he hesitates, knowing this conversation isn’t quite over.
You look at him with hurt eyes. “You could’ve told me you know. I would’ve understood.” You love how much he cares for his sisters. You never would’ve stood in the way of him being there for Sarah.
“I know. I’m sorry,” he repeats again, “I wasn’t thinking.” This time you move a little closer, opening yourself up to him. When he reaches out, you allow him to pull you into his body. “It won’t happen again. I promise.”
You nod into his chest. Rafe pulls you back slowly to look into your eyes. “I love you.”
It’s the first time he’s said it, but it’s how he’s felt since day one. When you smile up at him, eyes full of adoration, he feels like his heart could burst.
“I love you too, Rafe.”
-
The Cameron house is full of music, beer, and kooks. At this point in your relationship you’ve been to a fair amount of kook parties with Rafe and while it’s still not necessarily your scene, you’ve come to feel a lot more comfortable in the chaotic atmosphere by Rafe’s side. You understand the appeal more now, even if it’s not entirely your thing.
Since Rafe is hosting this party, you spend a lot of the night with Sarah, allowing him to mingle with his friends, pour drinks, and the like. The two of you are confident in your relationship and don’t feel like you need to spend every minute together. You don’t mind him doing his hosting thing as long as he checks in on you from time to time, as you’re having fun dancing the night away with Sarah.
“Hey darlin’,” Rafe pulls you into him from behind, sliding his arm around your waist while you sway to the music, “Not having too much fun without me are you?”
You turn to wrap your arms around his neck. “Oh absolutely. You know your sister might be more fun than you are. I might just have to reconsider which Cameron I’m dating,” you tease.
Rafe feigns shock with a hand to his heart, looking between you and Sarah. “I can’t believe what I’m hearing!”
“Oh believe it, big brother!” Sarah chimes in, “She’s my girlfriend now.”
He pouts at that, turning to you with over exaggerated sad eyes. You laugh at his expression, but can’t help kissing the pout off his lips.
“Don’t worry, baby. You’re not getting rid of me that easily.”
Sarah fakes a gag behind you as the two of you look lovingly into each other’s eyes. “Okay, you guys are gross. Rafe, leave us alone so we can dance!”
“What, now I can’t even spend time with my own girlfr–” A crash sounds from behind him. “Oh fuck. What the hell was that?”
He gives you an apologetic look but you wave him off. “It’s okay, go deal with the chaos.” You smile and he gives you one last peck on the lips before running off in the direction of the crash.
Sarah takes her place at your side again as you both watch his retreating figure. “I may give him a lot of shit, but I gotta admit, you two are really good together.” She loops her arm through yours. “Plus I got a new best friend out of the deal.”
The two of you laugh and turn back to the dance floor when you feel a hand close around your wrist. You turn with a smile, assuming Rafe has returned after dealing with the mess, but instead you come face to face with a guy you’ve never met.
“Um, hi,” you say to him, a little confused.
The guy flashes an over confident smirk at you. “Hey, babe. Wanna dance?”
“Oh, I’m actually dancing with my friend right now, but thanks.”
You try to pull your arm from his grip, but instead of talking your gentle brush off he just grips you tighter. Sarah turns back looking for you just as he pulls you hard, causing you to stumble closer to him. She gives you a worried look, but you shake your head at her. You’ve dealt with your fair share of pushy men at the bar, so you're pretty sure you can handle this yourself.
“Oh come on.” He speaks uncomfortably close to your face. So much so that you can smell the alcohol coming off his breath in waves. “It’s just a dance.”
“I said no.” You yank your arm stiffly from his grip. “Find someone else.”
Your defiance does little more than anger him as he lunges for you again, this time gripping both arms so tightly you’re sure he’ll leave a bruise.
“Hey!” Sarah jumps in now as this situation escalates. “She said no. Back off!”
In the kitchen, Rafe is finishing up dealing with the most recent crisis when he hears voices raising in the living room. Oh god, what now?
“Yo Rafe!” Topper rushes into the kitchen. “You better get out here man. Some guy is harassing Y/N.”
Rafe charges into the living room after his best friend, freezing when he sees you. Some guy has got ahold of both of your arms while you try to pull away, Sarah trying in vain to get in between the two of you, and the rest of the crowd looking around nervously, clearly waiting for the moment when Rafe finds out what is happening.
Sarah is all up in the guy’s face, practically biting his head off, but you can’t really hear what is being said at this point. You’re finding it a little hard to breathe at the moment, unable to concentrate on anything except how trapped you feel as you continue to pull against his strong grip.
You can feel your eyes welling up as your breathing shallows, but right before the tears can fall the guy is ripped away from you. You stumble back into Sarah’s arms as a tall body plants themselves protectively in front of you.
“Stay the hell away from her,” Rafe practically growls out.
“Hey, I didn’t do anything wrong! She was all over me, man.”
Rafe is physically holding himself back at that, hands trembling with the effort. “I can guarantee you, she was not.” He wants to cave the guy’s face in, but he knows that would just upset you more and he doesn’t want to do anything to add to your anxiety.
The guy stalks forward again, angry at being embarrassed in front of all these people, and gets in Rafe’s face. “You need to back the fuck up,” Rafe barks out.
“Who the hell do you think you are?”
“First of all, I’m her boyfriend.” The guy goes to make an angry retort, probably about you wanting him, but Rafe cuts him off. “And second of all, I’m the one throwing this damn party.”
The guy pales in realization, he may not have known what Rafe Cameron looks like, but he clearly knows this is his party, and he just pissed off the kook king big time.
“Now get the fuck out of my house.” Rafe looks over at Topper who nods and grabs the guy by the back of his shirt, marching him straight out the front door.
Rafe turns toward you, still shaking in Sarah’s embrace. He opens his arms and you bury yourself in his chest as he leads you away from the crowd up to his bedroom. As you walk you can hear Sarah yell behind you, “Alright everyone, party’s over! Go home.”
As he shuts the door to his bedroom, Rafe speaks softly in your ear, “I’m so sorry, baby. I should’ve been there.”
You shake your head. “I’m okay. It’s not your fault.”
“Doesn’t matter. I’m not leaving your side at a party ever again. I promise.” He crawls on the bed pulling you so you're laying fully on top of him. “I won’t let anyone lay their hands on you again.”
You just nod, nustling deeper in his embrace, finally feeling the trembling dissipate as you begin to feel safe again in his arms.

You sat around the fire listening as one of your friends told a story about a terrible first date she went on last week. You plant your face in your hands and groan as she tells you the cheesy pickup line he used at the end of the night, Sarah falling into fits of laughter beside you.
“I honestly can’t believe you didn’t just walk out at this point,” she gets out between giggles.
You nod your head enthusiastically. “Girl, you have gotta start finding better people to date.”
“Oh, I’m sorry,” she says in a teasing voice, “Not all of us can be in the perfect relationship, okay?”
You put your hands up in mock surrender, letting her continue on her rant of first dates being the worst. Your relationship with Rafe isn’t perfect, but you won’t deny that it's pretty damn close.
You and your friends put this bonfire together at the beach as a chance to just relax and catch up. Sarah, Topper, and a few others sit with you on the sand. Rafe coming a little later in the night because he has to run a few quick errands for his dad, but you don’t mind. This is the first time you’ve really had a solid group of friends since you were a kid, and it’s nice to feel relaxed and happy even without your boyfriend there.
A few minutes later, you hear a truck pull up and a car door shut. You turn with a bright smile on your face, excited to see your boyfriend after a long day without him, but your excitement turns to worry when you see the look on his face. He plasters on a smile as he makes it to the group, but you know him well enough to see right through it. You turn to Sarah and the look she gives you confirms that something is definitely wrong with Rafe.
“Hey, let’s go on a little walk, okay?” You give him a small smile. “We’ll be back in a few, guys.”
Your friends respond with a chorus of okay’s and see ya’s and Sarah gives you an encouraging nod.
Trekking along the water line, you take Rafe’s hand in yours. “What’s going on, baby? You seem upset.”
“Just a long day. My dad was a lot.”
You nod. “Do you wanna tell me about it?”
“Maybe in a little while. Can we just walk for a bit?”
“Of course.”
He tucks you into his side, enjoying the way your presence grounds him after the day he’s had. You wait patiently until he’s ready to start speaking. Rafe doesn’t talk about his dad too often around you. He’s told you the basics of how they don’t really get along and that he can be pressuring and overbearing, but that’s the extent of it.
While he knows that you would be supportive and that it’s good to get it out, he doesn’t like recounting their fights. It usually just makes him feel trapped back in that moment. This, however, is the worst fight they’ve had in a while and he just can’t deal with it himself this time.
“He told me I’m a failure and that I can’t be trusted to do anything right.” Rafe rushes out the sentence in one breath.
You stop abruptly, turning to face him. “He said what?”
“He said that I’m never going to be a successful adult, because I can’t even do the simple tasks he asks of me. And that I’m distracted all the time and never spend enough time at home or doing the work he needs me to do.”
“Rafe,” you say softly, but he’s not finished.
“He wants me to break up with you because he thinks you take up too much of my time and don’t respect him or the way he runs our family.”
You can’t help the look of disbelief that crosses your face. “Oh my god.”
“I know.” Then he rushes to add, “I told him no obviously. I’m not breaking up with you because he told me too. I’d never do that.”
“No, baby, I know.” You reach a hand up to his cheek, rubbing your thumb back and forth to calm him down. “That’s not what I’m worried about. But that was a lot for you to hear, Rafe.”
He nods slightly, trying and failing to hide the tears welling up in his eyes.
“You’re not a failure, baby.” You turn his head toward you gently. “If he can’t see the amazing man you’ve become, the capable, confident, happy man that you are, then that’s his deficiency not yours.”
Rafe looks back at the ground, whispering in agreement, but it’s clear he doesn’t mean it.
“Rafe Cameron, you are an incredible man. I wouldn’t be here otherwise. And I will remind you of that everyday until you believe it.” You duck down under his lowered gaze until your eyes meet. “Screw your dad.” You add sternly.
That earns you a little smile and a squeeze of your hand. “Thank you,” Rafe murmurs.
You pull him to sit next to you on the sand. “Why don’t we just stay here for a little while? We don’t have to go back to the bonfire quite yet.”
And there you sit, for the rest of the night, your back pressed to Rafe’s front, his arms around your waist while you rub soothing circles into his arms. Enjoying the breeze, the sound of the waves, and most of all, each other's company, because as long as you have each other it doesn’t matter what else goes wrong in the world.

“Come on, Y/N!”
“Rafe, I’ve told you a hundred times, I can’t go to Jason’s party with you tonight. I have to work. You’ll just have to go with Top.”
You’re standing behind the bar arguing with Rafe, who apparently drove all the way all the way to your place of employment to beg you to go to this party with him, even though he knows damn well that you have a shift tonight.
“Can’t you blow off work just this once?” Rafe tries again.
“No, Rafe, I can’t.” You pace back and forth in front of him, getting dangerously close to being late for work. “If I don’t work this shift, I won’t be able to make rent this month, not to mention the fact that they’d probably fire me for bailing this late.”
“It’s like you don’t even want to spend time with me?”
“Because I won’t blow off work for you? Rafe, I need this money. You know what, I’m done with this conversation. I’m going to be late. We’ll talk about this later.” With that final statement, you stalk inside, not even pausing to glance back at your boyfriend.
You can’t stop thinking about your fight while you work, turning the words over and over in your head throughout your shift. You know Rafe has never had to worry about money or even really about having a job, but usually he was pretty understanding of your life and finances. He knew you needed this job to survive and as much as you wish it could be different, at this point in your life, work had to take precedence over hanging out with friends. You couldn’t afford for it not to.
By the end of your shift, you decide that you and Rafe should wait until morning to talk. You still feel pretty hot about the whole situation, and nothing good would come from the two of you arguing all night. In the morning, you could stop by his place and have a discussion when both of you had clear heads.
You pack up your stuff, saying goodbye to your coworkers and heading to your car when you notice two new voicemails from Rafe. You play the first.
“Hey darlin’, it's me. I was an asshole earlier and you have every right to be mad at me. I shouldn’t have asked you to skip out on work and I definitely shouldn’t have made it all about me. I know how important this job is for you. Just call me back please. I hate it when we fight. I love you, baby.”
You let out a deep sigh, your heart clenching. You hated fighting with him too, but you still think the night would do you both some good. You play the second voicemail while you start driving.
“Y/N,” Rafe’s voice breaks on your name, “I know you’re still mad at me, but I need you.”
You stiffen at the pain in his voice, feeling a little panicked.
“Dad and I got in this huge fight and– It was really bad,” He whispers the last part, “Call me back please. I need you.”
You pull over quickly, clicking on his contact in your phone. Your fingers drum anxiously on the wheel with every ring, but there’s no answer. You try again to no avail. As a last resort, you try calling Topper. He picks up on the second ring.
“Y/N! Where you at?” You can hear the noise of the party in the background.
“Top, is Rafe with you?”
“Yeah, he’s around here somewhere! I saw him just a few minutes ago.”
“Great, I’m on my way.” You hang up before he even has a chance to say goodbye, turning around in the middle of the road to make your way to Jason’s house.
For once, you’re glad you live on such a small island, because it only takes you a few minutes to get to the party. You park quickly and head inside, looking for your boyfriend all the while. It only takes you a few seconds to spot Topper and Sarah in the living room.
“Hey girl!” Sarah gives you a big hug.
“Hey, have you seen your brother?”
She shakes her head. “Last I saw he was in the backyard.”
“No, no,” Topper chimes in, “We saw him a few minutes ago. I think he was heading to the back room.”
“Oh yeah!” Sarah nods along.
“Thanks guys.” You head in the direction they pointed, ignoring their calls to take a shot with them. The only thought in your head after hearing that message is finding your boyfriend and making sure he’s okay.
Pushing through the crowds, you finally make your way into the back room, letting out a sign of relief when you see your boyfriend sprawled out on the couch. He turns your way, catching your eye with a deer in the headlights expression on his face. The relief you felt disappearing as fast as it arrived when you see the white power under his nose.
Before Rafe can say a word, you spin on your heel, heading back the way you came.
“Y/N! Y/N, wait!” He calls after you, but you don’t stop.
It isn’t until you push past your friends and out the front door until he finally catches up to you. Rafe grabs your arm, spinning you to face him. Behind him you can see Sarah and Topper have followed the two of you into the front yard with confused and concerned looks on their faces.
“Y/N, baby, would you stop? Where are you going?”
“Where am I going? Rafe, are you kidding me?” You shove his hand off your arm. “I’m going home.”
“Why?”
“Because you are high out of your mind!” He has the decency to look ashamed at that. “You told me you were done with this, Rafe. You knew how uncomfortable you using drugs made me and you told me you were done, that I was worth more than the high. Clearly that wasn’t true.” You turn back toward your car.
“What the hell was I supposed to do, Y/N? I needed you and you weren’t there! You didn’t even answer the phone when I called.”
You whirl around. “I was at work! I didn’t even have my phone on me, Rafe. I had no idea that you called.” Rafe opens his mouth to argue, but you cut him off. “No. You don’t get to blame this on me. I rushed over here after a long, miserable shift of replaying our fight over and over in our mind, just to make sure you were okay. You made this choice. You chose to throw away everything we had. Six months down the drain for a meaningless high.”
“Baby, please.” The tears in his eyes and pain on his face threaten to crack you in half, but you’ve made up your mind. This is one thing you can’t forgive.
You can barely get the words out, your voice nothing more than a broken whisper. “I’m done.”
You rush to your car, leaving Rafe standing there in shock. Before you can shut your door, Sarah is there pulling you into a hug. “Let me come with you, you shouldn’t be alone right now.”
You shake your head. “No, stay with Rafe. He's your brother. He needs you more right now. He just gave up eight months clean and sober, that’s going to be hell to come back from.”
She just gives you an uncertain look. “What about you?”
“I’ll be fine. I promise.”
You try to hold it together as you drive home, but you don’t make it more than a few miles before you have to pull over, crying too hard to continue. By the time you make it home, it’s been over an hour since the party. You crawl in bed straight away, crying until there’s no tears left and you fall into an uneasy sleep.
-
(Back to present)
Rafe stumbles back into the living room, looking for anything and everything that will distract him from thoughts of you. He makes it to the kitchen, quickly downing a shot before pouring himself another when he hears a noise. He freezes for a moment, thinking the universe is taunting him, then turns slowly.
There you are talking to Sarah, beautiful as ever, with your head thrown back in a laugh, and another man’s arm around your waist.

Illumi x Reader x ??????
Part 12
part 11
part 13
warning: illumi is a LITTLE mean, mostly because he’s trying to push his feelings for you away!! Also slightly suggestive, mention of panty stealing, Leorio is a pervert(as per usual)
Tumblr media
“I’ll teach you, for a price.”
(Name) raises an eyebrow at the man in front of her, who she knows as Gittarackur, but is actually the disguised Illumi.
“Yeah, and what you want as payment?”
The man lifts a hand to stroke his chin. “Two options.”
(Name) leaned against the tree, waiting for him to continue.
“You can pay me back with your… body.”
She jumped, her face heating up. “W-what? My-“
He raised a hand to stop her, shaking his head. “Not in that way. You will owe me a favor, which I may need your future skill to complete.”
She relaxed a bit, sliding down to sit on the ground. “Okay. And the other option?”
He smiled, crouching down in front of her to pull out a picture, one that she had dropped.
“You tell me who the people in this picture are.”
Her eyes widened, and she reached out to snatch the picture back, a hint of anger in her eyes. “Give that back.”
He shook his finger, tutting softly. “Not until your training is over.”
She grabbed his arm, her eyes wide. “That picture is very important to me, please give it back!”
Illumi paused, not liking the shaking that had entered her voice. Was she about to cry? And why was he getting anxious at the thought of her tears.
“…”
He scoffed and let the picture drop to the ground, seeing her snatch it away and hold it to her chest before he turned away, a frown on his face.
“… it’s a picture of me and someone I care about. I don’t remember much about him, but I wanna see him again someday.”
She brings the picture to her lips to kiss the boys face, smiling at his blurred features. Illumi stiffens at this.
“You really care about that person, huh?”
She nods. “He was my first real friend. I hope he’s doing okay, I know he had a rough life, but he’s strong. And was really cute!”
She giggled to herself, stuffing the picture into her bag. Illumi was glad that he was facing the other way, or she would see his disguise trembling, a blush erupting on his cheeks.
“… I’m sure he’s fine. Probably misses you too.”
He calmed himself before turning and offered her his hand.
“Tonight will be your only rest time, so find somewhere to sleep. We’ll start your training in the morning.”
And with that, he was gone. The only thing he left behind was a nostalgic girl that he now knew to be his childhood friend.
When he was far enough away, Illumi’s disguise completely came undone, and the long haired man could only hold his chest as his heart threatened to break through his ribs.
She missed him. Him! She had held onto that picture for over 10 years, searching for HIM! He let out a shaky breath, using a nearby tree to support himself.
“Look what you do to me, (Name). Can’t even stand up straight…”
He calmed down just enough to remember her words more clearly. She had mentioned that she didn’t rennet much about him. Was that just her memory being shoddy, or amnesia? Questions for later, right now he could barely think about her without melting.
“My, my, seems you got the conformation you needed.”
Hisoka shuffled his cards, not even glancing up to look at Illumi’s flushed expression. He could tell by Illumi’s aura that he was beyond flustered, and was there to revel in this new side of him.
“Yes… she is the girl from my childhood. A person that was very important to me…”
Hisoka glanced up, a smirk pulling at his lips. “Was?”
Illumi nodded, folding his arms across his broad chest, steadying his breathing. “Was. I won’t have myself falling for her all over again. The first time it was… agonizing when I realized she was gone. Plus I’m way too busy to play around, I’m not a child anymore.”
Hisoka hummed. ‘Oh poor ‘Lumi, doesn’t even understand he’s still in love with her. Oh well, just makes it more interesting for me.’
“So, what do you plan on doing with her then? You’re going to teach her to be a hunter, correct?”
The black haired assassin mulled over this, brushing his hair to the side.
“Yes. I can sense potential in her. I may…”
A small smile spread across his lips, a smile devoid of good intentions.
“… borrow her after the exam.”
——————
(Name) did her best to create a rudimentary shelter before the sun dipped below the trees. When she finished, she crawled in and lied down, using a pile of leaves as her pillow.
She thought back to earlier, gripping her photo so tight it wrinkled.
‘How did he get this? I’ll have to be much more careful in the future. Someone could use this picture to hurt my old friend…’
She curled up, her eyelids growing heavier by the second.
“Goodnight Gon, Killua, Kurapika, Leorio, and Gittarackur. Wherever you are…”
——————
(Name) awoke when the feeling of water surrounded her, she tried to breath, but stopped when her mouth filled with liquid.
She breached the surface of the water, gasping for breath. (Name) took a moment to breath before she checked her surroundings, seeing Illumi standing on the bank of the stream she had been tossed in. He had an amused smirk on his lips.
“I came to wake you up and you didn’t budge. I pulled you out of your mediocre shelter, nothing. If I can carry you to a stream and toss you into water before you wake up…”
He grabs her sleeve, pulling her up onto the bank with ease.
“We have a problem.”
(Name) pushed him away, coughing up water. She gestured to her soaked clothes, her brows furrowing.
“Okay, cool, but now my clothes are absolutely soaked. What am I supposed to do?”
He shrugged, looking her up and down. “You could just train in your underwear. Don’t worry, I’m not attracted to girls like you.”
He winced at his own comment, but she didn’t seem to care.
“Huh, okay then.” She scoffed and pulled at the hem of her shirt, just enough to expose her pink bra.
He jumped back, his head turning to look in the opposite direction quicker than he would have liked.
“Vulgar girl, I would’ve hoped you’d change in privacy, considering you have an extra set of clothes.”
He tried to ignore the urge to look, biting his lip. She just huffed, throwing her shirt on the ground and waking past him to her shelter.
“You’re blushing an awful lot for someone that ain’t attracted to girl like me, Gittarackur.”
He growled, folding his arms as he waited for her to change.
“Anyone would blush when a woman starts disrobing in front of them. You feel comfortable getting naked in front of men?”
She laughed, exiting her shelter wearing her shorts from the first day and a sports bra. He could feel his pants tighten at the sight, telling himself he’d address THAT later.
“No, only the men I’m not attracted to.”
She stuck her tongue out at him, stretching out her legs.
“Let’s get started, yeah?”
——————
Illumi’s training was tough, partly because training to be a hunter was tough, but also because he wanted to let out a bit of pent up energy.
He was no stranger to seeing half naked women, often being an assassin meant women trying to seduce you into not killing them. This never worked, as Illumi didn’t have much of a libido.
(Name), however, was testing his patience.
The way she bent to watch the fish be picked up by birds and practiced catching them by jumping into the air, causing her breasts to bounce was driving Illumi crazy. She seemed almost unaware of her effect on him, leaning against him during her breaks to offer him food or a drink.
Her scent mixed with the sweat of her hard work was mind numbing. He wondered how he was able to keep himself in check when she loosely lifted the hem of her bra to complain about the heat, fanning herself.
“I’m heading out. Keep practicing, watch how the bird waits to catch the fish and practice the moves I taught you.”
He runs off, hissing at the hardness between his legs.
(Name) watches him go, a bit confused at his hasty departure. “Alright, see you tomorrow.”
——————
By the time Illumi arrived to wake (Name) up, she had already rose and gotten dressed, this time in a t-shirt and shorts. Illumi sighed in relief, glad he wouldn’t have to deal with his “little problem” again after their session.
He would have stayed relieved if he didn’t see her clothes from the last day drying on a string next to her shelter, including a pair of panties with a strawberry pattern.
“(Name).”
He gripped her shoulder, staring down at her intensely. She just lifted an eyebrow. “Yes?”
“Why… why are you drying your underwear out in plain view?”
(Name) just shrugged, pushing his hand off her shoulder. “Why not? I need clothes to wear, since YOU got them all soaked yesterday.”
His eye twitched. She wasn’t exactly wrong but…
“There are dangerous men taking this exam, (Name). I seem to remember you saying that Hisoka would be into strange things. What do you think his reaction would be, seeing your little strawberry panties waving in the wind?”
(Name) blinked, then covered her mouth.
“Oh god, he would get WAY too excited. Do you think he’d steal them? They’re my favorite pair!!”
Illumi glared at the girl, raising a hand to rub his temple. “Men are capable of much more than stealing your underwear, girl.”
She tilted her head at this. “Capable of what exactly?”
He dropped his hand, sliding it to her chin.
“Want me to show you?”
“…”
“…”
“…”
Illumi pulled his hand away, covering his lower face to hide his blush. He was losing control, the power this girl held over him was concerning. He could feel himself throbbing at the thought of touching her, kissing her, bending her over and-
“Are you done being creepy and ready to see my progress?”
She tapped her foot impatiently, a light blush also apparent on her cheeks. He cleared his throat and nodded.
“Yes. Go ahead.”
—————
It took (Name) two days to master the act of hunting, which impressed Illumi immensely. She was proud of herself, jumping up and down excitedly.
“Ahh, thank you for training me Gittarackur!”
Illumi tensed at her arms wrapping around him, giving him a tight squeeze. He wanted to pull away, but his arms hound themselves wrapped around her waste, his head lowering to smell her hair.
“You’re welcome. I have no other reason to be here, so I just leave. I still have to k- find my target.”
He retracted his arms and pushed her off, earning a huff in return. Illumi held back a chuckle.
“You helped me before even you found your target? You’re such a nice guy!”
Illumi paused, turning quickly to grab her by the shoulders.
“You have no idea the kind of man I am. Don’t trust people so willingly, (Name). You’ll only get hurt.”
He squeezed her shoulders before he let go and scurried away. She frowned and yelled after him.
“A BAD MAN WOULDN’T BE SO GENTLE, GITTARACKUR!”
Illumi ignored her, speeding up.
—————
(Name) left her temporary home to explore, having a bit more confidence in her abilities. Illumi had sparred with her relentlessly, and she rubbed her bruised bottom. He’d sent her falling onto her butt so many times you would of though she’d broke her tailbone.
“Man, where is everyone hiding?”
(Name) perked up when she heard Illumi’s voice in the distance, immediately following it.
“I haven’t seen anyone for the past two days.”
(Name) appeared, waving excitedly.
“Leorio, I’m so glad to see you!”
She jumped into his arms, squeezing him tightly. He gasped, his hands hovering around her hips.
“Oh, (Name), you scared me! How you’ve been holding up?”
“Meh, okay I guess. One of the applicants trained me in the “art of hunting.” He’s moody, but I think he’s actually a nice guy under all that doom and gloom!”
Leorio relaxes, his hands finally resting on her hips. “He? (Name) be careful, men don’t just help a girl for no reason.”
“But you and Kurapika have helped me plenty, and I know you two don’t have any ulterior motives… unless…”
She playfully hit his shoulder. “You’ve been using me for my canteen haven’t you?”
He sighed, playing along by holding up his hands in defeat. “You got me. This has all been an elaborate plan to steal your pink water canteen.”
They looked at each other for a moment before bursting into laughter. (Name) pinched his cheek, her eyes sparkling.
“See, now that wasn’t so hard to admit, huh?”
The moment was ruined when the bush next to them rattled. Leorio stood, pushing (Name) behind him and wielding his knife. She pulled out her own dagger, her eyebrows furrowed.
“Who goes there?”
“Oh, hold on!”
Tonpa left the bush, holding his hands up to show he wasn’t armed. (Name) frowned, folding her arms across her chest.
“It’s just me!”
“Tonpa! Don’t tell me your target is…”
Leorio and (Name) tensed, pointing their weapons at him.
“Hey, wait a second! Just calm down you two! Neither of you are my target.”
“Prove it.”
Tonpa reached into his back pocket, pulling out a card with the number 191 on it. The two relaxed.
“Good think I didn’t throw it away. Fighting people who aren’t my target is a waste of time and energy.”
(Name) looped her arm around Leorio’s, glaring at the man. Tonpa caught this and began to back up, pointing at her.
“Wait don’t tell me that I’m your target?!”
“Unfortunately you’re not.” Leorio replied. (Name) shook her head to signal he wasn’t her target either. Leorio held up the card that held the number of his target.
“Number 246. Ponzu, huh?”
“Huh? You know who this is?”
“You didn’t already know?”
(Name) giggled, poking Leorio’s cheek. “You shouldn’t let him know he has an advantage over you, Leorio.”
“Uh, er, well… I wouldn’t put it that way. I just didn’t have a chance to find out…”
Tonpa grinned. “Heh. Want me to fill you in?”
“What?”
“Your target’s appearance, weapons, special abilities, and weaknesses.”
Leorio let him continue, thinking it over.
“I have one condition.”
The two were surprised to hear a wet gurgling sound come from Tonpa’s stomach. (Name) made a disgusted face, stepping back.
“I think I ate some bad fruit.”
“Bad fruit…”
“To be honest, I can barely stand… you want to become a doctor right? Do you have any medicine one you?”
He groaned, holding his stomach as he trembled. (Name) gagged, retreating behind Leorio. He approached Tonpa, holding out his briefcase.
“Wait, don’t soil yourself. I have all kinds of anti-diarrheal and stomach medicine.”
“Oh, thank you so much!”
Tonpa reached out for the briefcase, his hands brushing against it. Leorio pulled it back, scowling.
“First tell me what you know.”
“F-fine.”
(Name) didn’t pay much attention to their conversation, only picking up that the woman she’d met before was named Ponzu.
Leorio instructed Tonpa to step back before he opened his briefcase, which he did quickly.
As soon as the briefcase clicked open, someone descended from the trees and attempted to wack Leorio in the head with a large stick. He barely dodged, the contents of his bag spilling out…
Including his badge number!
“Leorio!”
(Name) launched forward, but before she could grab the badge it was stolen by a monkey. (Name) was so surprised by the monkey that she fell backwards into Leorio.
The two hurriedly stood, (Name) embarrassed apologizing as they did. Leorio paid her no mind, his anger increasing by the second.
“You two are working together!?”
“Exactly so. I didn’t need your medicine. I have my own, and I might as well confess that you actually are my target.”
Tonpa swallowed his medicine, a cocky smile on his face.
“What about the card you just showed me?”
“That’s my target.”
The man with the monkey waved, winking in (Name)’s direction. “This is tonpas, we switched cards. And these…”
He reached into his pocket, pulling out a pair of strawberry panties.
“Are yours, right?”
(Name)’s face erupted in a combination of embarrassment and anger. “Hey, those are my favorite pair!”
Leorio just gawked at the man, his jaw nearly hitting the ground.
“Can I uh… have th-“
(Name) elbowed him in the stomach, and he shut up.
“There you have it!”
He laughed, which only enraged Leorio further.
“Damn you! I’ll make you pay!!”
“Uh-oh!”
He began to chase Tonpa. (Name) glanced between tonpa and the man with the monkey, deciding to follow after Leorio.
“Hold up, I’m gonna kill you!”
“Hey now, I’m not the one with your tag and her underwear!”
“Shut up!”
Tonpa laughed, keeping a good distance between them. “You still haven’t learned your lesson, rookie? It’s your own fault for letting us trick you! Besides, working in teams during the Hunter Exam is common sense!”
“I agree with the latter, but I cannot accept the former.”
Kurapika appears on the path. Tonpa doesn’t have time to stop at the pace he was going, and Kurapika kicks him.
“You shouldn’t be tricking people, in the first place!”
“Kurapika!”
(Name) embraced him, her eyes welling up with tears. She couldn’t get any words out, just blubbers. He pats her head, and looks to Leorio.
“You two wanna team up?”
—————
“Oh dear.”
Kurapika holds a hand over his mouth as they explain their situation. His cheeks flush when (Name) tells him what happened with her.
“What degenerates. How did they even get them? Are you…”
He barely stops himself from asking if they had been taken straight off of her. She was wearing shorts after all, that would be near impossible.
“Probably stole them while I was hanging them out to dry. My favorite pair, with the cute strawberries!”
She started to cry again, shaking Leorio. “What if they get away and keep them?! What am I supposed to do without my lucky pair!! Ugh Gittarackur was right!”
The two exchanged a look. “We’ll get your uh.. undergarments back, (Name).”
Leorio ruffles her hair, which calms her a little.
——————
(Name) waits at an old log, kicking her feet. The two had promised to retrieve her underwear, and she promised to cook dinner.
The two returned an hour later, Leorio with his tag in one hand, and her neatly folded panties in the other. Kurapika was polite enough to not look, instead turning his head when Leorio offered her the pair of panties.
“Oh thank you so much! Ah, my favorite pair!”
She held them up, spinning in a circle before stuffing them into her bag. “I’ve gotta out these on later. Guess they’re only safe when they’re on my-“
“Ahem! Anyways…”
Kurapika stopped her mid sentence, avoiding her gaze. “We have the tags for #16 and #118 as well.”
“So Kurapika, Tonpa was your target? You saved me back there!”
“No need to thank me. I didn’t want Tonpa to notice me, so I stayed hidden while you were jumped from behind. Well that was because there’d be no point teaming up with you if you couldn’t withstand that attack. I suppose that you barely qualified.”
“You really are full of yourself…”
(Name) pointed to herself. “Did I qualify?”
Kurapika smiled, shaking his head. “I didn’t need to test you, I already planned on teaming up with you from the beginning.”
Leorio frowned and (Name) gasped, pulling Kurapika into a hug and ruffling his hair.
“Aren’t you a little charmer?”
“He’s rude that’s what he is!”
Leorio huffed. “Well, I can’t deny that it’s easier to work as a team. Let’s stick together for the remaining four days.”
(Name) released the now flustered Kurapika, putting her hands on her hips.
“Yeah, let’s.”
The three chatted for a bit, discussing their targets and the tags they now had.
“Wait, (Name), who’s your target?”
Leorio glanced at her, only slightly suspicious. She sighed and reached into her shirt, pulling the blank card out to show them.
“I have no target, and I’m not being hunted. I’m the one who drew the blank card.”
—————
Illumi had been watching over the interaction from a distance. Once (Name) had gotten her stolen underwear back, he left.
He didn’t like that another man had held her panties in his hands, but there wasn’t much her could do about it… yet. It was almost night time and he had long since gravely wounded his target, only needing to capture his tag.
Illumi took one last look at (Name) before he was gone.
————
The group of three traverse through the forest, (Name) stopping to pick up herbs and mushrooms she’d need to make dinner.
They all slide down a cliff, (Name) complaining about their nonchalant behavior.
“Do all boys just enjoy getting dirty? I just washed these.”
She groaned, dusting the dirt off of the back of her shorts.
“You can just wash them again later. You can wear my tunic if you need to.” Kurapika offered like the gentleman he was.
“Thanks, but that would barely cover me. I’m not exactly the smallest girl, but any girl with hips would pop out of that.”
Leorio put a hand on Kurapika’s shoulder. “Let her borrow your tunic.”
The younger man pulled away from his grasp. “Did you not hear her, it would barely cover her.”
“That’s the poi-“
Kurapika smacked him over the head with his weapon. “Pervert.”
Leorio huffed. “So I’ve figured out who my target is, but how am I supposed to find her on this huge island? Isn’t walking around aimlessly a waste of energy?”
“Constantly whining and being a pervert would be an even bigger waste of energy.”
“You already have six points, so you’re finished. But if I don’t find my target…”
The three stopped in their tracks, Kurapika gasping. Down the path and causally leaned against a tree was none other than Hisoka.
“Hey.”
He held up a card nonchalantly. The two men stiffened, standing in front of (Name) protectively. Kurapika barely noticed her slowly raise her hand to grasp her hurt wrist, trembling.
“Imagine meeting you here…”
Leorio laughed humorlessly. “I keep running into people I don’t want to encounter.”
“You see, I need two more points. Could you give me your tags?”
“What was that! Screw that, I’m not gonna-“
“Leorio!”
Kurapika cut his eyes to (Name), and Leorio did the same. She was shaking, struggling to control her breathing. It was very obvious that Hisoka scared her, and it wasn’t just because he had a frightening presence. Something had happened between the two.
“You said that you only needed two points, correct? Which implies we are not your targets, correct?”
“I’m the one asking questions here. Will you give me your tags or not?”
He held a card to his lips, his eyes trained on (Name). The two men inches closer, blocking her from view.
“That depends. We currently have five tags. Mine, my target’s, Leorio’s, (Name)’s, and a tag only worth a single point to us. Of these, only two could be the number of your target. Mine, or the tag only worth a single point.”
“Correct. Neither of those is my target. So?”
“That’s leaves the other two tags. If you’re willing to take the tag worth only one point to us and leave, you can have it. But I will not let you have mine or (Name)’s, and the same goes for the other two.”
The two of them throw down their respective bags, readying themselves for battle. (Name) drew her dagger.
“If you insist on taking them by force, you’ll have to fight me!”
Both Kurapika and Leorio raised their weapons, the three men having a stare down. (Name) attempted to join them, but before she could move from behind them the two blocked her with their arms.
“Stay back.” Kurapika whispered. Hisoka’s eyes narrowed, taking in the sight of the three with wicked glee. He covered his face with his hand, laughing into it.
“Mmm….”
He pulled his hand down to glance at them. “Out of curiosity, what is your number?”
“#404.” Kurapika answered, frowning.
Hisoka glared at them for a bit longer, almost like he was savoring the moment. “Alright. You have a deal. I’ll only take the one tag.”
Kurapika nodded. He crouched down to grab his bag, fishing the badge out and placing it in the hollow part of a tree.
“I’ll leave it here.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll be standing here for a while.”
Before the three can leave, he stops them with a smirk.
“Girl, stay here for a moment.”
Leorio and Kurapika began to protest, but (Name) stops them. “It’s alright. I don’t want to anger or… excite him with my refusal.”
“You two, walk away a bit. Don’t worry, I don’t plan on killing her or anything. Just need to.. pass on a message.”
The two glanced at her as they walked away, Kurapika’s hand forming into a fist.
“What do you need to tell me?”
(Name) stand a good 5 feet away, her dagger still out and ready for use. Hisoka steps towards, and she takes a step back.
“Relax, I’m not gonna hurt you again. I really do have a message for you, from your little friend.”
(Name) perks up at this, breaking the distance between them. “You mean it? A message from-“
Hisoka puts a finger over her lips, smirking as she winced in disgust. “You surround yourself with such dangerous men, (Name). Be careful who you say his name around.”
She nodded hesitantly and he pulled his finger away, licking it.
“He said to meet him in York New, September 1st.”
Her heart started beating against her chest, and she gripped the fabric of her shirt. “I’m so glad he’s okay…”
‘Although he could have just texted me instead of getting the creepy clown to play messenger…’
Nonetheless, (Name) shook Hisoka’s hand, smiling up at him. “Thank you so much, I didn’t know you were this nice!”
After that she ran away, chasing after Leorio and Kurapika.
Hisoka watched her go, staring down at his hand for a moment before clenching his fist.
“I’m starting to understand why those two are so… interested in her.”
——————
(Name) made a simple soup for dinner, eating and drinking water from the stream as the two fussed over her.
“What did he tell you, did he hurt you?”
“Why the hell did you grab his hand, he could’ve crushed your windpipe with ease!”
(Name) leaned back against her leaf pillow, stretching out her legs. “I’m fine, aren’t I? And he didn’t tell me anything that you two would need to know.”
She wasn’t sure if she should tell them. After all, her friend wasn’t exactly a… great person. She was okay with that, but she knew others wouldn’t be so lenient.
“We’re just worried, (Name). You seem to have a knack for getting yourself into trouble with dangerous men.”
Kurapika didn’t know how right he was. (Name) pouted, snuggling up under their new shelter.
“I can handle myself… most of the time… I promise if what he told me was bad I would have told you by now.”
“Yeah? Well how about you tell us why you were shaking so badly when he looked at you?”
(Name) was silent at this, looking down at her wrist that had turned purple over the last few days. Leorio didn’t miss this.
“He’s the one that did that to you, isn’t he? That bastard… I’ll kill him!”
(Name) reached out to pull at his sleeve, shaking her head.
“Don’t. He’s too strong for any of us to beat. He… made me promise not to say anything. I agreed, for… your sake.”
She gestured to the two, before releasing Leorio’s sleeve.
The three fell into silence, and (Name) soon fell asleep. Kurapika took of his tunic and covered her with it, brushing the hair out of her face.
“She did that… to protect us?”
Leorio shook his head, gripping his blade.
“We’ll have to return the favor.”
—————
Four days had passed since they saw Hisoka, with nothing to show for it.
“Wanna head back to the starting point?”
“Huh?”
(Name) stopped, placing her canteen back in her bag after they’d all had a sip. Leorio continued.
“It’s possible that people have already finished.”
“No, we won’t be able to find anyone there. This phase is unique because you have a chance to recover your tag if you lose it. On the other hand, you might have six points in tags right now, but that doesn’t guarantee you’ll have them when the phase ends. You can’t finish it quickly.”
“I see.” Leorio grunts out, rubbing his aching legs.
“But it’s worth a shot. Only one day remains, people who already have six points will be inclined to wait near the goal. I would do the same.”
(Name) nods, jumping over the roots of a tree.
“Okay, let’s go!”
————
“Well? Anyone there?”
The three stare out at the place where they first disembarked. “No. No one that can easily be spotted.”
“Damn.”
“Perhaps we should split up to search after we decide on a place to reconvene.” Kurapika and Leorio sigh, (Name) raising an eyebrow at the suggestion. Had they forgotten that there was a Killer Clown on the loose?
“It’ll go faster with four people!”
“Huh?”
The three startle, quickly swiveling around to see Gon jump from a tree.
“Gon!”
“I guess we all had the same idea. I’ve been watching from up above, and a number of people are nearby.”
(Name) jumped up and tackled him in a hug, petting his head. “Gon!! You’re safe!”
“I see, we should search from above.”
Gon wiggled out of her grasp and Kurapika shook his head.
“We can’t, it’s only possible if you have eyes as sharp as Gon’s.”
(Name) agreed, looking at the tree with dismay. “And I don’t think I can climb a tree, not after what happened last time.”
“Last time? What happened last t-“
“Gon!”
Said boy perked up. “Yes?”
“Do you have the tags you need?”
His expression soured a bit. “Yeah, I guess.”
“Damn, so I’m the only one without enough points.”
“Who’s your target?”
Leorio handed Gon his card. “#246, a woman named Ponzu. I heard she used chemical weapons. Gon, did you see any women when you were up there?”
He shakes his head. “None besides (Name).”
“I see…”
Kurapika placed a hand on Leorio’s shoulder. “We can assume that there are four possibilities. She’s I. Good shape and still has her tag. She’s in good shape, but she lost her tag. She’s out of action, but she still has her tag. She’s out of action, and she doesn’t have her tag.”
“Is it really likely that she’d still have her tag if she’s out of action?”
“If she were caught in a sudden accident, or if she were defeated after hiding the tag. If she died after conceiving her tag, we won’t be able to find it.”
“Sounding gloomier by the second.” Leorio whined.
“Hey, do you know anything else about Ponzu? Does she wear a special perfume like (Name)?” Gon asked. (Name) sniffed herself, but all she could smell was soil and sweat. Kurapika gasped.
“Oh, that’s right! Gon can follow her scent!”
“But she might not wear perfume.”
“He can smell the chemicals she uses. She’s known for using drugs, right? Some of them must have strong scents. Well, Gon?”
Gon nodded. “Okay, I’ll give it a shot! That’s why I’m here.”
—————
The group of four travelled under the shade of trees and through hills of grass, Gon inhaling the air as they went.
By sunset, Gon sniffed out a cave where they stopped in front of. Leorio peered at the cave, giving Gon a nod.
“Is she in there, Gon?”
“Yep, definitely.”
“What do you want to do, Leorio?”
“I’m going inside.”
They all looked at him as he picked up a stick and began to approach the cave. “You guys wait here.”
He walked in, tapping the walls as he did. He threw his stick into the dark to test for a reaction.
“I’ll head inside. Don’t renter until I give you the okay.”
“30 minutes.”
“Huh?”
“If we don’t hear anything from you after 30 minutes, we’re coming in.”
Leorio denied Kurapika’s demand with a shake of his head.
“Unacceptable. If that happens, you guys should return to the start.”
“I can’t do that. Since we teamed up, I won’t abandon you now.”
(name) nodded, in agreement with Kurapika. “I still owe you from getting my… lucky pair back for me.”
She winked, causing a blush to erupt on his face.
“Then I quit the team. You don’t owe me anything. It’s selfish, considering all the help you’ve given me, but I’ll do this alone.”
Gon frowned. “No.”
Leorio ran back. “What did you say?!”
“We’re staying here no matter what! Still got a problem?”
He watched the threes faces, all of them looking at him with stubborn eyes. He sighed and pulled out his knife, tossing his briefcase to gon.
“Do whatever you like. Hold onto that for me.”
The three smiled between themselves.
———————
“-and then he bit me, like actually bit me! I was afraid he might be rabid so I ran away.”
“(Name), you attract the strangest people.”
(Name) had begun to tell them about her meeting her mysterious friend, although she kept his name and occupation secret. Kurapika rubbed his temple.
“Yeah, he is pretty strange, but cute in a way. He really liked the rose syrup I made so I mail him some every month. His address changes for work often but…”
She paused, biting her lip. “Sorry, I’m rambling. It’s just…”
“Nervous about Leorio taking so long?” Kurapika asked, a smile pulling at his lips. She nodded.
“It’s been nearly 30 minutes.”
“Kurapika, Gon, (Name)!”
The three shoot up at the sound of Leorio’s shouting.
“Don’t come in!”
The three run forward, Kurapika pushing (Name) back. “You stay here. Don’t move!”
With that, (Name) is alone again. She kicked the sandy ground, her lips forming into her another pout.
“Stupid boys and their stupid chivalry.” She crossed her arms, deciding to gather ingredients for dinner to pass the time. If they weren’t out in an hour, she’d go in.
—————
(Name) was lucky enough to find a nest full of eggs, so she boiled them and made a simple salad to go with it. It wasn’t much, but would fill their bellies enough to get through the night.
She stared at the entrance to the cave as the eggs boiled. She noticed smoke starting to pool out.
“Smoke? Oh god I hope they didn’t-“
(Name) quieted when she heard the d sound of shoes slapping against the cave floor. She gasped when she saw Gon carring the boys, plus Ponzu out of the cave.
“Holy- Gon how strong are you!?”
He let out a great before inhaling loudly. “Strong enough!”
—————
The boys explained what happened over dinner. Gon seemed particularly excited, his stomach growling loudly.
“Thanks for preparing dinner, (Name)!”
She patted his head, putting two one of her eggs onto his plate. “No problem. Here, take one of mine. Young boys need to eat!”
He didn’t argue, only gulping it down and grinning. After dinner the four gathered together to sleep, (Name) telling them stories about her mysterious friend, who they were beginning to wonder the motive of.
“(Name), I think that guy might be in l-“
Kurapika smacked Leorio across the head.
“Goodnight, let’s all get some rest before the big day tomorrow.”

Whumptober - Day Twenty-One: "Polaroid."
TW: William being himself, stalking, heavily implied slut-shaming, mentions of pregnancy, and hints of emotional and financial abuse.
Set in the FNAF movie universe.
Edited: 10/23/2023 - finished and edited it (as much as I could).
--
William is busy (he always is, but it’s nearly the holiday season. And if he wants Fredbear’s to get ahead of the competition, Henry and him need to start planning ahead for the influx of customers). He rushes around the restaurant, trying to dodge screaming children.
Why he ever got into children’s entertainment, he’ll never know.
He’s almost to his office, when someone taps him on the shoulder.
“William?”
He turns around to face-
“Laura…?” He can’t keep the surprise out of his voice. Laura was an ex-fling of his. They broke things off a few months back abruptly. He thought it was because she wanted to move out of state, but-he looks her up and down, noting her swollen stomach and tired eyes-that apparently wasn’t the case. Without another word, William opens the door to his office wider, inviting her in.
She moves past him, not meeting his eyes.
He sits down at his desk across from Laura. “You’ve been busy,” he jokes.
Laura glares at him, a hand on her stomach. “No, thanks to you.” She takes a deep breath, settling down. “I…didn’t come here to fight.”
“Well, that’s a shame.”
Another glare.
William smirks, pretending to read over some paperwork he finished earlier that day. “I don’t have all day you know?”
Laura sighs. “There’s no easy way for me to say this, but I’m pregnant.”
“I would have never guessed,” he snarks.
Laura rubs her stomach, one hand remains there at all times, as if protecting the growing life inside. “And you’re the-”
“I’m gonna stop you right there,” he says, cutting her off. “I don’t know what you’re playing at, but I want no part in it.”
Laura stares at him, narrowing her eyes. “What I’m playing at?” She repeats under her breath. “What I’m playing at!? And what do you, William, think I’m doing here then?”
“Waste my time? Try to scam me? Take my money and hard earned assets?”
“I don’t want your money,” she spits.
“Then, what do you want?” William asks, annoyed. He really hopes one of his employees, or worse, Henry, doesn't come into his office. The last thing he wants to explain is why he’s having a heated conversation with a pregnant woman.
Laura sniffles, wiping her eyes with the back of her hands.
Great, now she’s crying. She does that a lot.
“I,” she sniffs, clearing her throat, “just wanted our child to know his father. I know what it’s like growing up in a broken home, and I wanted to prevent that.”
It’s William’s turn to sigh. “Hypothetically, say I believe you, how certain are you that it’s mine? I mean, you got around a lot.”
Laura shakes her head, looking at him with watery eyes. “I know I used to party a lot, but you didn't like when I did that. So, I changed. I haven’t been with anyone else besides you in over a year.”
He tsks, tilting his head to the side. “And I wish I could believe that, but unfortunately, I can’t.”
“Please,” she begs, putting her hands together, “I don’t have anywhere else to go and-”
“And there it is. The truth.” He laughs, going back to reading over the finished paperwork, using the sounds of Laura quietly sobbing as white noise.
“Two things can be true. This baby is your child. Even if you don’t care about me, you should care about your son.”
“Sorry,” William tells her. “I have to get back to work, but I’ll be sure to send a gift card along to the women’s shelter.”
He watches her leave, defeated.
“That was odd,” he says to himself, flipping through a file to find one blueprint or another.
Despite how cruelly he treated her, William hopes the baby and her stay safe. It’s a scary world out there, and a real monster might take advantage of them.
-x-x-x-
William forgets the encounter. Business is booming and sales are up. Laura and her unborn child fade from his memory.
But then, Henry and his wife decide to have a baby. A little girl, they lovingly named “Charlotte.”
Business slows down, and William is left to his thoughts. He thinks about his ‘supposed’ child. They would be about four or five now. He wonders what they look like.
Do they look like Laura? Him?
He mentally berates himself. None of it matters, because William will never see Laura again. He hasn’t seen her since their last conversation, so it’s safe to say that she probably left town. And it’s unlikely that the kid is actually his. It can’t be.
The next day, because he’s so lucky, William runs into Laura while grocery shopping. He almost runs his cart into hers, but stops just in time. “Laura?” He asks. “Is that you?” He takes in her appearance. She looks put-together, something that she always seemed to struggle with. His eyes linger on the gold band around her left ring finger, and stop on the little boy sitting in the front of the cart.
Laura looks at him like a deer in headlights. Her mouth opens and closes. Before she finally composes herself. She stands a little straighter. “In the flesh,” she jokes.
William keeps looking at the boy. “Is this your-”
Laura cuts him off. “My son. Yep.”
“So, is he my-”
Again, she interrupts him. “My husband’s son?”
“So, you lied to me?” William can feel his blood starting to boil. The thought of abandoning his potential child has taken up more mental space than he likes to admit. Years of trying not to think about it, and she lied?
“No,” Laura mutters. She starts to walk away, but William puts a hand on her cart.
“Then, what happened?”
Laura glares at him. “I’m not talking about this with you.”
William studies the little boy, who gives him a big, toothy grin; his two front teeth are missing. All freckles and dark curls that rest messily against his forehead and big brown eyes.
He sees nothing of himself in the boy, and yet…
“He’s mine.”
It isn’t a question, but Laura answers anyway. “I’m not talking about this in front of Mike.”
“Michael,” William says, tasting the name. “I like it.”
Laura goes to move forward, but he maintains a tight grip on the cart. “Don’t leave, I just want to talk.”
She looks at him, and then down at their son. “I-”
“Laura,” a man says, a can in each hand. “They had a sale on veggies, and I know you’ve been saying we need to start feeding Mike more greens.” He tosses the items in the cart, before turning to greet William.
“Hi, you and Laura know each other?” There’s no accusations hidden in the question, but William feels somewhat offended.
“Of course we do. Me and her go way back.”
The man, who William suspects is her husband (judging by the matching gold band on his finger), raises an eyebrow. “Oh?”
“Yeah, way back.” It might be childish, but he relishes the slight twitch of the man’s eye. The knowledge that he’s getting to him, albeit barely.
Laura’s husband laughs, but it sounds forced. “Hey, honey, how about you go checkout? I’m sure Mikey doesn’t want to hear boring adult talk.”
She nods, hurrying away before William can intercept her again.
Once the cart is no longer in view, the man turns to him again. He pokes a finger into William’s chest, a severe look on his otherwise handsome face. “I know who you are, and I’m warning you, stay away from my family.”
There’s so many things William wants to say, but it’s clear that anything he says will fall on deaf ears. “Okay,” he answers, acting meek.
The man stares at him for a few seconds longer. “Good,” he mutters, leaving to (presumably) go find Laura.
William goes home that night, still thinking about his son. His real, actual son. Laura hadn’t been lying, or trying to pass off someone else’s child as his. They exist.
Instead of giving him closure, the event sparks something in William. He might not be able to talk to or interact with his son, but he can keep close tabs on him.
He buys a polaroid camera, and memorizes his son’s routine. Which is hard, because most of the time he’s with one adult or another. But sometimes William can catch him alone, at the park, or when he’s waiting for his parents to pick him up after school.
He never talks to Michael, not wanting the boy to tattle to his mom or “dad.”
William sticks to blending in with the surrounding crowds, or shadows. In the case of the park, he pretends to act uninterested, reading a newspaper. But in those perfect little moments where no one’s paying him any mind and his son’s doing something cute, like yawning or giggling, he’ll snap a picture or two.
A perfect little memento for his eyes only.
But then, Laura has another child - a little boy. Which messes up William’s schedule, because now Michael spends a lot of time at home with his new sibling. And as much as he wants to spend time with his son, even he’s not stupid enough to commit breaking and entering.
William sits on the park bench, newspaper in hand and polaroid camera at his side. It might take a couple weeks, but he’s sure his son will come back.

Be: She wants to figure it out for herself, don’t tell her.
G: Oh, right. Okay. Um… someone replaced one of my cards with a dorito a bit ago.
Al: Damn. Crazy.
G: Is this some sort of revenge for the dead fish in your room thing. Replacing my cards with chips.
Al: Yes it is.
G: I mean. It was alive at the store. I think.
Ed: You guys are both idiots. Gabriel, I watched you buy a toy fish to put in his room at the store. I… honestly don’t even know where you got the real one.
G: What?
Ed: Did you not know it was a fake fish when you bought it?
G: Um.
Ed: Oh my fucking god. Just… play your card. I don’t care who’s turn it is, just… someone play a damn card.
Al: And what if I don’t?
Ed: Then we’re going to be here for hours. Don’t we have something to do today, as well?
Be: Eh, maybe.
[A door slams open, and the lights are turned on without warning, revealing the full PR office, the recording device seemingly propped up on the couch facing the door.]
?: Which one of you is Gabriel?
[Voice identified: Hetch]
G: [Quietly.] Uh. I am…?
[Hetch holds up a card, they squint at it, look at the box in their hands, look back at the card, then at Gabriel. Who tenses up visibly.]
[Hetch walks towards the PR members with the large box and places it onto Gabriels head carelessly, they then look at the cards he has, and recites each one to the PR members before turning back towards the door. Several visible members giggle, and turn away from Gabriel.]
Al: Damn, looks like we can’t play Uno now. Because all of us had no clue what cards you had before. Especially not Eden.
G: … Eden. Were you looking at my cards the whole time?
Ed: No…?
Be: Oh she totally was.
Ed: You’re not innocent either, Becky! I saw you taking glances!
Al: Whoops.
[The arguing increases in intensity, until Eden stands up and attempts to flip the table, only managing to do so halfway, a few cracks are heard as the bolts holding the table down come out of the floor. The cards fall to the floor, as does Eden, as Becky stands up and punches her.]
[It eventually devolves into a full on brawl, with Alexander off to the side eating chips.]
[Hetch starts laughing, and continues to do so as they leave the room, with only Alexander acknowledging their exit with a small wave. As soon as the door closes, Alexander goes back to watching the fight.]
[Transcript end.]

The Person On Your Mind in April 🐓 2023 - Libra
Whole of their energy towards Libra: 10 Cups
This person sees you as 10 Cups and The Empress, which is a complement. The Empress beautifies and expands everything she touches, is possibly married or has children, has mastered the lessons of all four Queens combined and has grown successfully while growing & nurturing everything else around her. Libra/Taurus energy. Male or female, doesn’t matter, except that she’s more in her feminine & receptive energy than a masculine action-taking one. Everyone has both sides. This could be your spouse, a recent ex, or someone in your family that for them to see you as 10 Cups, that’s peak happiness, you mean a lot to them. Your messages indicate you’ve had some sort of ending with them, maybe the last conversation didn’t go well, or you’re ending/have ended the relationship. This person does not agree with whatever it is you’re doing or have done.
Feelings: Judgement
They’re judging you, flat out, they feel like whatever you’re manifesting is a burden or you’ve already done that. They blame you for whatever is going on and feel pretty irritated about it, I’m sure you know that.
Intentions: 5 Cups
They’re intending to be sad, disappointed, focused on whatever has been lost or ended. Disappointed with you. But they do intend to hold back from saying anything, just sitting in their discontent and acting like they don’t care when they clearly do.
Actions: Queen of Wands
To show up as Queen of Wands is to say what’s on your mind with no give a damn, who knows a fire sign that hides their opinions? 😆 It’s rare! Doesn’t have to actually be a fire sign, they just embody this Queen in this situation. They may outright challenge you. The Lovers rev is disconnect, The World is the end, I assume you’re ending a relationship and this person is pretty pissed off about it. Not so much that the court card is rev, but enough that you’ll definitely know about it. Your cards show you hate the way this ended or is ending, but all signs point to you as the one doing it. Queen of Wands isn’t someone who sticks around long, strong, confident, attractive, they know their worth and they don’t have the patience for it. If all you’re thinking this is, is a break, I dunno…it won’t be long before they hightail it in another direction, that’s what Wands anything does, takes action. They thrive on the “new”. Moves on quickly. You’ll probably hear from them soon, but it won’t likely be the most “peaceful”, at least with how things stand right now. I don’t see them as mean either, they’re just not going to sit back and keep quiet about it. Wands tends to directly confront things, especially if you’re a typical Libra that isn’t comfortable with that sort of confrontation. They embody it, that’s them. Aries energy. This could also be a significator for a lover, moving on to someone else, and for some they might.
Messages:
Their side:
- Get Real 💯
- If I could, I would.
- Soothing Presence 😌
Your side:
- I hate the way things ended between us.
- Knows how you take your coffee ☕️
- I need a BREAK from this.
Possible signs:
Leo, Scorpio & Gemini
If you’re dealing with:
2 Cups shows union, love, marriage, partnership, these things are heavy on your mind if nothing else, especially if this reading is with a spouse/partner. That’s your main focus. You could be talking with others about what you’re going through, maybe you’re focused on your next love or what you want, but you’ve still got love on the brain 🧠
Aries - healing from a burden, might be this person, isn’t speaking…yet, or you not speaking to them is the burden
Taurus - someone you worked with in the past, you could be catching up with them
Gemini - another person you’re likely catching up or reuniting with, someone may be apologizing, or you’re both planning something
Cancer - has pulled Queen of Pentacles for every single read I think 😆 Cancer is BUSY holding down the fort, but could be asking you out on a date or romancing you 🌹 Consider yourself special, you’re the only one getting their time.
Leo - creating something new that they will love, could be getting caught up in details & may ask for your advice on that, or switch it
Virgo - mentally stressing out, can’t sleep, can’t relax because of a conflict with you
Libra - no movement, then a lot of movement, there’s a stall period with them and then things move very quickly, or messages are coming from them
Scorpio - doesn’t want this to end, is avoiding the end, 4 Cups and Queen of Swords came out…could be this person, they’re irritated with you
Sagittarius - shocked & surprised by whatever is going on but keeping their mouth shut…rare 😆
Capricorn - has deep love for you that they’re guarding possessively or are just holding back from expressing how they feel, but they do love you
Aquarius - hopes to celebrate with you, maybe go out for lunch or something, they’re seeing things from an optimistic angle
Pisces - talking about work related things or working together with you on something

notable lyrics.
1.  There is a house way down in New Orleans / They call the Rising Sun/And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy / And God I know I'm one 2.  Future outcasts and they don't last / And, today, the people dress the way that they please/ The way they tried to do in the last centuries 3.  And you'll ask yourself / Where is my mind? / Where is my mind? 4. Ask me if I'm happy / I don't care / Maybe I'd be happy if you give me drugs / Ask me if I'm happy / What does it mean? 5. "Run, run, Lost Boy", they say to me / "Away from all of reality" / Neverland is home to Lost Boys like me 6. And the boys always call, and the girls do too / Because in my world, I'm constantly, constantly havin' a breakthrough / Or a breakdown, or a blackout / Would you make out with me underneath the shelter of the balcony? /  'Cause I don't need anyone, I don't need anyone / I just need everyone and then some 7.  Dreamers are selfish / When it all comes down to it / I hope one of you come back to remind me of who I was / When I go disappearing / Into that good night 8.  I feel like no one wants me/ And I hate the way I'm perceived / I only have two real friends / And lately, I'm a nervous wreck /  'Cause I love people I don't like / And I hate every song I write / And I'm not cool and I'm not smart 9. Don't let those demons in again / I fill the void up with polished doubt, fake sentiment / Surrender yourself 10. Drunken in Seattle / Two more Xans and without a paddle / I don't remember your face / Or your hair, or your name, or your smile  11. The world is a curse, it'll kill if you let it / I know they got pills that can help you forget it / They bottle it, call it medicine 12. Memories tend to just pop up / Drunk pre-meds and some rubber gloves / Five thousand people with designer drugs / Don't think I'll ever get enough 13. I wanna prove my love before I leave / I wanna make you come and scrape my knees / Want you to bite my tongue until I bleed / And you can put these fucking words in my obituary 14. Maybe I need therapy / Maybe we need less of me / I will make myself smaller before / Completely Exploding / Maybe I should get some sleep / Cause i’m Godless Lawless & non-monogamous 15. Just take my hand and we'll abandon this world / We'll wash those tears away / You're young and beautiful, and I'll love you always / We got no time for pain / When it's just you and me in ecstasy 16. Don't want cash, don't want card / Want it fast, want it hard / Don't need money, don't need fame / I just want to make a change / I just wanna change 17. The happiest I've been's at a party / Wasted with my friends and why not / We die, then it's over / So fuck being sober 18. Oh, you clever little things / The sycophantic teens / What a precious basket case / Now shut your dirty mouth / If I could burn this town / I wouldn't hesitate 19. To the ones who never left me, we've been down this road before / I'm so sorry, I'm not sober anymore 20. I'll stay in the pool and drown / So I don't have to watch you leave / I put on Survivor just to watch somebody suffer / Maybe I should get some sleep 21. The truth is I am a toy that people enjoy / 'Til all of the tricks don't work anymore / And then they are bored of me  22. I caught a fleeting glimpse / Out of the corner of my eye / I turned to look but it was gone / I cannot put my finger on it now / The child is grown / The dream is gone / I have become comfortably numb

So, What Am I Up To?
Since I keep talking about my latest series of rabbit holes, I figured I might as well fill everyone in because, well, it’s fun! And I am a fan of these things, so it can totally go on my fan blog, even if it’s not writing fan stuff. So there!
This past Christmas, my parents gave me the gift of a promised dinner at the brand new, not-then-yet-opened magic themed pub The Splintered Wand. Located in Ballard, Washington (a.k.a. Little Norway, a district of Seattle but don’t remind them of that), they have good food, fun decor, and, perhaps most importantly, are home to Balch & Balch Wands.
I did not know about the wand shop when I received my Christmas gift. I did not learn about it until months later when my parents and I fetched up on the same block as the Historical Building that houses it, having just missed the Norwegian Constitution Day parade. (We didn’t know about that either, or we’d have probably tried to be earlier.) Once I found out about it, though, one thing was immediately clear:
I needed a new wand.
Now, in order to really understand that statement, you have to understand that I already have three wands from Alivan’s wands and one mini from a book release party I went to once. If I actually liked the resin movie reproductions, I’m sure I’d have at least one of those. I am a costume hound and a collector of Shiny Trinkets and if you had asked me if I actually needed another wand that morning, I’d have said ‘naw, I’m good, really’, because Restraint.
As soon as I walked up to the second level of The Splintered Wand and listened to the gents behind the counter doing their spiel, Restraint went right out the window. You see, getting a wand from Balch & Balch wands isn’t just a purchase, it’s an interactive event worthy of any big name theme park you care to mention. In fact, it’s even more so because, by necessity, every wand sale involves the customer interacting one on one with at least one - possibly both - of the clerks.
End result? $60 later ($50 wand, plus $10 which was honestly probably low, but I was impulse buying), I have this beauty:
Tumblr media
Mahogany omphalos with an ashray skin alabastron*. Hands down the most Cancerian wand you could begin to imagine.
Oh, and before I forget to mention it - bring someone else with you when you do this. I’m not going to tell you why, but it is rather important.
Of course, if you’re a wood worker and a snob, you’re probably going “Ugh, I could make that for less. I mean, it looks like it’s not even finished.” I know this because a) I’ve met So Many craft snobs and b) my cousin, the non-snobbish woodworker, informed me that if I ever needed something similar, he had the tools and know how.
So here’s why you should plunk down the money, even if you do happen to be a woodworking snob:
When I say this is an event, I do mean it’s an event. You don’t simply point at the wand and say ‘I like that one’. After explaining the magic system they’ve created to you (for free, because this isn’t community college), the friendly clerk picks a wand for you based on your Date of Return (birthday). If you want the exact details on omphalos woods and alabastron materials, see the above link. If there are one or two wands that they like, and there is time, you may even be asked to choose between them.
The next step is choosing the alabastron. I’m not going to tell you how this is done, since it works better if things are a bit spontaneous, but suffice to say it’s not quite random. It’s also not simply imagination. Inside that handle is a little vial containing a bit of stuff and capped off with the Very Scientifically Named Knobby-Bit-At-The-End. What is the stuff in real world, non-magic terms? Search me. I know one of the feathers is actually ostrich plume, but the ash ray skin? Wet looking stuff kept in water. They write the specifics of your wand down on a card so you can remember them and look them up on the above linked website and then.
AND THEN!
THEY ENCOURAGE YOU TO CUSTOMIZE IT!
Yup, the reason there’s no sealers on that wood is because you are encouraged to make it 100% your own. The only catch is that you must customize it with materials that are at least organic, preferably organic and cellular. So commercial paints, Elmer’s glue, and polyurethane varnishes are out. Beyond that? Carve it! Burn it! Wrap bits of non-alloy metal (silver/copper) around it! Make a leather wrap for the handle! Oil it up with natural stains!
GO HOG WILD!
Needless to say, little dye/stain fiend that I am, my brain went immediately to what stains I could use. The next thing it came up with is setting a polished stone in the Very Scientifically Named Knobby-Bit-At-The-End, because that is waaaaaay beyond my skill set and requires learning to make glue from scratch** and my brain has no sense of proportion.
But, one rabbit hole at a time, I am slowly starting to make progress. So far we have:
Tumblr media
Stage one: Very simple. I just put a couple layers of soy sauce on the omphalos to punch up the natural mahogany colour and added a ring on the handle to incorporate the colour a bit better.
Tumblr media
Stage two: Added a ring of copper/vinegar/hydrogen peroxide stain. This was being finicky, so after searching with absolutely no luck for info on how to make your own gel stains, I tried heating it and adding a bit of unflavored gelatin to it. Worked beautifully! I decided to try it with the soy sauce to even out the other ring a bit, which didn’t work as well, either because chemistry or simply because I wasn’t being very scientific with measuring my proportions, I was just kinda shaking in some Knoxx. *shrug* Of course, it wasn’t quite dry when I took this picture, so it’s shinier here than it is in reality.
Currently waiting for my raw linseed oil to bleach (for stain making), my powdered butterfly pea flower to get here (for stain/paint experimentation***), and for the walnuts to start producing so I can get walnut hulls (yes, I can buy them, but I have a Free Source).
*please forgive the typo in the photograph
**this is actually stupidly easy, as it turns out, but I’m still debating which type of glue would be best
***not planning on using actual paints on my wand, but my little once-removeds, ages 9 and 10, are going there as a birthday present from my parents, and I know they’re going to want paint, so I’m looking into that. The Science Princess in particular will probably like the idea of making her own...much to her mother’s despair!

both movie tickets for later
for a group outing and
when did movie tickets seriously become $16
i miss $10 tickets and sneaking into movies for a day
all the things i used to do alone and now
they all become advice for a column/listicle of things to do alone for people who never had to experience that
it’s hard not to re-assess and think
“christ really?”
gas prices are high too,
someone once asked me how i go about where i go to when i just go wherever to check it out
i said; “i just go”
and i could tell they were dissatisfied with the answer
then re-assessed and explained
“we’ll i wanted to get brick toast so i just looked wherever”
and to me, it’s so bizarre how powerless the panopticon society is
i remember starting to journal again and googling “how to journal”
how fucked up is that?
all the shit that used to come so instinctively stunted by an invisible audience of internal critics
but it’s the aftertaste of
comfort society
let’s do away and avoid everybody and everything that reminds us of a “no-no”
people shouldn’t be allowed to grow,
people should function like trading cards,
with a second market value prescribed based on perceive value for the ‘community’
can we walk away from
paper cut ego concepts
everything a fast fashion?
and even the stuff i’m supposed to be a “fan” of
i apparently have to consume so voraciously that every tidbit of information on the topic gets exhausted
why leave space for any communion or communication, when we can solely know everything ourselves?
lately i’ve been thinking about how much
i just want to go bowling on a friday night in a date setting,
i fucking suck at bowling
in fact i’d probably gutter ball the entire time
and get nearly kicked out because i’m throwing the balls too hard
i mean fair enough, like i guess flinging around a heavy ball like that in a way it could damage the floors ain’t ideal but
(also fuck you, i don’t know how to bowl and i’m wearing smelly ass shoes)
(i wonder what fuck just has bowling shoes casually, like i mean i guess if you do it as a league)
i just consider it a low stakes social setting
but it’s like don’t quite feel like downloading dating apps
everyone feels and sounds like a landmine
90% of the time, i wish i could say
“i’m sorry but i really don’t care, i don’t care if you’re emotionally unavailable and you went through some whatever shit, and the last dude wanted you for sex,
can we just go FUCKING bowling?”
christ. i get that i exude ‘genuine’ vibes and that somehow activates a reflex that goes
‘here’s all the things i an using to keeping my emotions distant’
bro; i do not need a goddamn explanation
it shouldn’t be this fucking to go for a fucking walk in a park
get ice cream
and look at a lake or some shit
literally
i will ask for the lowest stakes
but the concept alone is “so REAL” for you
shout out to the person who wanted to keep things super platonic, i came up with some plans and said “i’ll treat you to some ice cream”
and person literally reacted so harshly because it sounded “too much like a date”
my god, i do not know what happened to a lot of you people anymore
it really shouldn’t be so fucking hard to go bowling
and then talk
and see if we even have anything in common actually
at this point,
i feel like my only option is for someone to have a tryst
and i don’t know how much of that i would want to entertain
the touch-starved me would enjoy
but the reality me would reject because i dislike disloyalty
it’s one thing if they know about me and it’s a whatever
but another thing if it’s a sneak around
feels wack,
but sadly i don’t know,
been searching for events that interest me but genuinely there’s not much around here
i really should’ve
been less absentminded in high school and not be searching for “the one” back then
really killed a lot of chances to just go on superficial low stakes dates
can’t do much now,
either way, this is a temporary sadness
we have to acknowledge that,
otherwise we just start to think the worst of ourselves when it doesn’t help to
i wish i could be more open,
like there is a person i know i could probably ask on a date but christ i get fixated on their annoying habits
and it’s not like annoying habits where i can overlook because there’s all this other stuff we established and have in common
it’s more annoying habits, and you weirdly love-bombed me out of the blue so it makes me not want to meet you
annoying habits and when i gave you my number, i thought we’d continue joking around but instead the next two days you just took it in a direction of personal issues i simply couldn’t relate to
so it’s like, the part of me that wanted to get to know you more struggles to exist because it’s like
“man we literally talked for a few days,
how you gonna be like ‘oh i hate how my friend is queerphobic and won’t accept my dead partner’s queerness’”
the fuck do you want me to say? like goddamn if anyone was like that around me, they ain’t a friend and trust
i’d drag that fucker through the ground and make them eat pavement
i cut people off on some of the flimsiest shit sometimes and god i wish i could give that ability to you
talking bout some queer phobic piece of shit friend like don’t give a fuck if you two came out of the same womb, i wouldn’t let that vibe even near my shit
retail workers seem to enjoy my vibe (but can’t be deluded considering it’s their job to be nice and friendly)
but sometimes it’s like
“that it? make myself uncomfortable as all hell fucking putting ppl on the spot at their place of work?”
fucking hell; i miss school for the fact it forces socialization and does away with most of those hangups (mine included)
but person be posting fucking status updates in Instagram, in the space where i’m tryna look at dumb memes me and my friends share with each other,
and it’s the worst possible function of IG, and you’re the only person, and i kid you the fuck not,
like i’m following 1000+ accounts and y’all really be the only one posting daily, and just saying the same thing over and over again

Top 10 Essential Internet Safety Rules Everyone Should Follow
How safe are you when you’re on the Internet? If your answer to that question is as safe as I can be, there’s an important follow-up question you need to ask yourself: Why not be safer? The online world may seem like an alternate reality where anything goes, but that doesn’t mean you should abandon all your common sense and stop protecting yourself in real life. In this guide, here are 10 essential rules that everyone should follow to keep themselves safe and secure while they are surfing the web.
Introduction:
Browsing the internet can be both beneficial and entertaining, but there are also risks associated with using the Internet that you should be aware of. Thankfully, many steps can be taken to ensure your safety while surfing the net. Use these ten internet safety rules as a guide to staying safe while browsing online, and if you have any questions or concerns, be sure to contact your local tech expert!
1) Don't give out personal information
It's important to keep your personal information safe, and that means not giving it out unnecessarily. This includes your name, phone number, address, email address, and school/work details. If someone asks you for this information over the internet (i.e. on an app or social media page) don't feel pressured to give it out - they can often find it elsewhere anyway. The only exception to this rule is if you're chatting with a real person - like a tutor or teacher- through an online service like Skype.
E-safety - Don't reply to emails from people you don't know; never share passwords with anyone; only download files from sites you trust; turn off the computer at night time. Install anti-virus software, check for security updates regularly and use strong passwords.
Be aware of risks when browsing the internet
Keep up to date with technology by reading about new websites, apps, and games to be better prepared for how they might affect you in the future. Cyberbullying is also a big issue these days so make sure you are careful what pictures you post and comments you write on social networking sites as these could come back to haunt you in later life. All our devices are linked so please think before downloading any applications or opening links from unknown sources as this could infect your device with malware which will cause it to crash.
2) Keep your passwords private
1. Keep your passwords private and never share them with anyone.
2. Don't use the same password for multiple sites, or use a pattern that can be easily guessed by a hacker.
3. Change your password often, ideally every three months or so, and don't use anything that can be easily guessed like your birthday or phone number.
4. If you're concerned about someone guessing your password then try using a passphrase of random words instead.
5. Ensure you have up-to-date anti-virus software installed on all of your devices (e-safety) because there's no point in taking all these steps if you're just going to let malware onto your computer! Make sure you have strong security settings on your devices, including web browsers and smartphones (Cybersafety).

6) Tell an adult if something happens
One of the most important rules when it comes to internet safety is to tell an adult if something happens. If you're not comfortable talking to your parents or guardians, there are lots of other people you can talk to like a teacher, coach, mentor, or even the police.
You should also be careful about what pictures and videos you post online because they can live forever. Cyberbullying and sexting (sending sexually explicit messages) are two major dangers on social media networks. It's important that you only give out personal information on sites where it's safe. For example, don't give out any information that would allow someone to find you in people such as your address or phone number.
E-safety means being safe from danger while using technology. Cyber safety means being safe from cyber bullies, predators, stalkers, and those who have bad intentions for others. You should never agree to meet someone in person whom you first met on the internet without telling an adult first; this could put both of you at risk for things like sexual exploitation or abuse.
Cyber safety includes using privacy settings so that your photos and posts are only seen by friends and family members, not strangers. Cyber security includes staying up-to-date with security software on devices so you don't get hacked.
7) Use privacy settings
It's important to ensure you are using privacy settings on social media. It's also a good idea to report anything you see that is offensive or inappropriate because it could be hurting someone else without them knowing. A lot of people also like to use parental control software to keep their devices safe.
Be sure to avoid giving out personal information online, such as home address or phone number. If you give someone your phone number, be sure to choose a non-work one and keep it to yourself until you’re ready for that person to have it. There are also a lot of apps available for phones and tablets that will help keep your devices safe from cyberbullying and other harmful actions.
Cyber safety can also include never talking about drugs and alcohol in chats with friends or over the internet. You should always stay away from things that are illegal and don't feel comfortable sharing what you're doing when you're not with those people in real life. One way to stay cyber-safe is by making sure your parents know what websites you go to so they can keep an eye on what they think may not be appropriate.
8) Don't share personal photos
These days, it's hard to go more than a few hours without seeing someone post a selfie on social media. But before you click that share button and post your own, consider the following internet safety rule: Don't share your personal/personalized photos.
Posting selfies or pictures of yourself in any state of undress can be dangerous, both because they might get out into the public domain and because they may be used as part of an extortion attempt.
Consider these seven pieces of cyber safety advice for keeping safe online.
1. Use strong passwords
2. Install virus protection software
3. Limit downloads from unknown sources
4. Clear browsing history regularly
5. Only use secure wifi connections
6. Use privacy settings for all accounts on social media platforms
7. Be careful what you like or comment on social media sites.
It is always better not to say anything at all than to say something that could damage your reputation in this digital age!
9) Think before you post
Keep your information private. Don't give out personal information such as your full name, address, phone number, or e-mail address unless it's necessary. If you're in a chat room and someone asks for your personal information, end the conversation.
Don't respond to spam e-mails or messages that try to trick you into revealing personal or financial information. Delete these messages without opening them; they could contain a virus that could infect your computer with malware.
Use caution when sharing photos on social networking sites:
Even if you use privacy settings to block other users from viewing your photos, remember that anything you post online is public. You might want to think twice before posting a photo of yourself wearing expensive jewelry or driving an expensive car because thieves might be looking for easy targets like this.
It's important to update your contact information so people can find you when needed. Make sure to sign off from any device and close any open windows or tabs before leaving it unattended - even for a short time.
