not sure if you allow it, but how does wriothesly react when the reader uses their safe word during an intense session?
tags : fem!reader, smut, crying, use of safeword, aftercare, comfort, +18
It's hot in the room, the constant gurgling of the pipes reminding you that WRIOTHESLEY must have turned up the heating higher than usual. Then why is your body shivering, with goosebumps all over your skin? You can't see him, can't hear him because he has barely talked to you ever since he's returned from his office. Yet you feel his large, intimidating form loom over your body from behind. You can't speak, can barely breathe with his constricting hand around your throat that somehow seems to get tighter by every passing second.
He's immune to your whimpers, to the tears rolling down your cheeks. With each forceful thrust of his, you hear the bed creak and feel your knees get weaker, your body loosing strength until you're nothing but a limp toy for him. You want to get up, push him away, but the grip his other hand has on your wrists while holding them behind your back- He's just too strong.
That's when even the last ounce of pleasure leaves your body and you're left with nothing but dread and panic. "Red, p-please." you barely recognise your own voice, hoarse and frightened. "No more, please, red."
The pressure on your windpipes is gone instantly. You realise it, not by the oxygen that is easier entering your airways, no, because you still feel like you're suffocating. You realise it because his warmth is as well gone in an instant. W-Where did he go?
Rough hands are all over your body, yet they treat you with so much care, helping you turn and lie on your back, soothing down your thighs. One of them at last settles on your cheek, the pad of his thumb caressing it and wiping the tears away. "Y/n? Sweetheart, you with me?"
You sniffle and press the heels of your palms against your eyes, your chest shaking with more sobs that won't stop racking your body. "I'm sorry, 'm so sorry. I-I don't even know-"
"No, no, don't apologise. There's nothing to be sorry for." Your brain still feels foggy as you finally look over at Wriothesley who's crouching beside the bed, giving you enough space to breathe yet still having his hands all over you, not wanting to let you go. Nonetheless, you're able to notice the tension in his posture, in his facial expressions. "Just try to relax, alright? You're okay now." his hand shifts to your hair, fingers combing through the messy strands until they settle on your scalp, soothingly massaging you there. "You did good. It was too much, wasn't it?"
"Couldn't breathe." you whisper and realise that you feel so small in his presence, but not in an inferior way. Wriothesley may look all brutish and intimidating with a strength that could crush any allegedly impenetrable door in the fortress, but you're well aware that he would never use that strength against people that he cares about. "And, uhm-"
Piercing blue eyes watch as you nervously fiddle with the blanket that he has covered you with. But the little peck he gives you on your shoulder tells you that he wants to let you have a breather and take as much time as you need to sort your thoughts. "You seemed a-angry. You were so quiet and, I don't know. It was..."
"Scary?" he finishes for you, a gentle and reassuring smile plastered on his face that alleviates the pressure on your chest.
"Yeah."
Silence invades the bedroom for a short moment, making you forget that you're miles beneath the water surface, that the room which you share with him belongs to a prison, that a few moments prior your body has been in a fight-or-flight mode. The silence reminds you that you're safe and that all of this, all of him, is home. "Will you come back to bed? And hold me?"
Wriothesley's eyes soften at your request and the timid sound of your voice. "Of course, my love." His knees pop when he eventually gets up, pressing a fleeting kiss on your temple before he picks his pants up from the floor and puts them on. Despite the previous events, you can't help but feel a light heat creep up your neck when you get a sight of his naked buttocks.
"Careful with those wandering eyes. I might think you want to continue where we left off." Wriothesley chuckles when you pull the blanket over your head, a futile attempt to hide your embarrassed expression.
"Come here." the mattress dips beside you and you let him tug the blanket off your head. The warmth and smell of his make you sigh in contentment once he wraps his arm around your waist, pulling you flush against his chest. "I'm the one who should apologise. I was not aware of how much I was hurting you."
The teasing smirk and brief leisurely attitude are gone, replaced by a seriousness that you usually only get to see when he's handling work related matters. He kisses your face again and again, further silent apologies that he hopes will lessen the pain inside your chest. And his. "I was a little irritated, yes, but that had nothing to do with you. Some inmates got their hands on a few bottles of wine." he explains. "Those drunkards started spewing lots of nonsense when I confronted them about it."
What did they say?" you inquire quietly, your eyes slowly but surely feeling heavier. With a palm against his naked chest, you notice the rapid heartbeat but decide to not give it any mind, since Wriothesley's tender strokes along your back are truly not making it easy for you to stay awake and think straight.
He stops his movements for a short moment, clenching and unclenching his fist as his eyes trail over the red, irritated skin of his knuckles.
"Your grace has turned quite soft." "Your little mouse must be doing a great job in bed, huh?" "Why don't you lend her to us? I'm sure we could teach her a thing or two?"
"Nothing you should worry your head about." his voice is merely a whisper as his lips move against your forehead before he buries his nose in your hair and resumes to trace more soothing shapes on your lower back.
a/n : thank you for your patience, dear anon! hope you'll see this since your request has been sitting for a while in my inbox-

May I pls request a Yandere! Lo’ak x Metkayina! Reader where she is tsireya sister and lo’ak starts to get feelings for reader
Sounds good, let’s see how I get this done
Only you my girl, only you babe (Yandere! Lo’ak x Tsireya’s sister! Reader)
Tumblr media
General warnings: being a second choice, Lo’ak going crazy, aged up! Lo’ak, since he will be 19 and reader 18. It has been years since the war. ANGST (Sorry) I has been exactly 5 years since the war. Angry and guilty feelings. Death.
Content warnings: as you may know, I don’t usually proofread my writings and this isn’t an exception, English isn’t my first language, sorry. Obviously inspired by the song. Not gonna lie, kind of a mess since I wrote this pretty sleep deprived lol. Lo’ak feeling guilty,
[ 1st Person POV ]
War hadn’t ended but we were having a time relatively close to calmness. We had lost so much during war, I lost Neteyam, my best friend. And we had lost more of our people. As future Tsa’hìk this had me emotionally damaged for so long.
The Sullys, even though they stayed with us, the closed to themselves even more. Our only interactions being with Kiri and Tuk. Ao’nung and I would always come around with Rotxo but Lo’ak would never respond.
I had to guide Neytiri as a grieving mother as my mom was in her own grieve. Working as a Tsa’hìk when you weren’t fully prepared was actually difficult.
Lo’ak would only talk to Tsireya, he closed so much into himself that I though I would never see him again. I did have a crush on him when war started and when they first came to the reef. I though we had fallen in love, but just after the war he changed.
This years I have had to push my pride aside and forget about it. It pained me not being able to see him or contact him in any way. Now more that I didn’t have Neteyam beside me. I was always there for him and he was always there for me.
To my surprise, after everything, my brother became more open and I spent a lot of time with Kiri and Tuk. None of us was the same as before.
Tsireya came back to our marui pod on night smiling softly. “Lo’ak will soon be prepared to talk to all of us” she beamed at me.
I didn’t have any right to feel mad, it was his grieving at the end of the day, but I still felt a soft pain in my heart. It has been five years, five years of only him and Tsireya. None of us could grieve together like Kiri and Tuk did. Hell, even Jake joined some emotional healing sessions.
Lo’ak and I were now 19, old enough to choose a mate. I, as future Tsa’hìk and daughter of our Olo’eyktan, Tonowari, had a lot of pressure on my shoulders. I hated it.
I felt jealous of Tsireya, she was free to do as she pleased, she was always with Lo’ak and she didn’t have the burden I had. But I felt thankful for my parents for always being there for me.
One night, as we were all eating dinner by the sore, a small tradition that Rotxo, Ao’nung, Kiri and I had began doing since the war, the unexpected happened. Lo’ak came towards us, Tsireya’s hand in his. “Hey” he softly muttered.
I smiled at him, moving in the sand just to give him space to squeeze himself in, but he stood still. His eyes frozen and unmoving. He waited until Tsireya sat down to sit by her side.
I frowned but continued eating my food.
[ Few days later ]
Lo’ak had integrated back into the group, as if 5 years weren’t nothing. Except for me, he never spoke to me or even looked at me. I was fuming. The worst part is that I had started hearing that he had chosen a mate. Allegedly another Metkayina girl asked him to be her mate and he refused saying he already had one. My only thought was Tsireya. She was strangely beaming lately. Had the already mated before Eywa.
One day I was no longer accepting this behavior and I walked up to him. “Oi! Lo’ak! What is your problem with me?” I asked, jogging after him when I saw him turning around. I could see he didn’t want to speak with me.
“What problem? I don’t have a problem” he muttered. His eyes scanned the place for Tsireya, but he didn’t see her. I grabbed his hand and tugged him towards my family’s marui, knowing nobody would be home by now.
“Lo’ak please tell me” I sounded exhausted. “ you know what it is like 5 years barely seeing you?” My voice broke.
His eyes widened. “I tried to reach out for you but you were too busy” he said, pushing the fault onto me. “My clan needed me Lo’ak, my people needed me” I sighed.
“I needed you too!” Lo’ak exclaimed. “Aren’t we one of your people?”. “You are but I am the future Tsa’hìk Lo’ak, I have had to take over my mother’s job way to early until she recovered, I had to take care of all of them, as a healer and as a spiritual guide, I had to grow up way earlier”.
“Tsireya was there for me” he said before leaving.
I started crying as I fell to the floor. I didn’t know Ao’nung had heard it all.
In the meantime, I relied on my father, Tonowari was a brave leader with a kind heart. The best Olo’eyktan we could ever had. He held me as I desperately cried all the feelings I hadn’t cried in those 5 years.
Ao’nung on the other side had cornered Lo’ak and pressured him as well as telling him how much I had suffered. Lo’ak then told him the truth. “I was scared of hurting her, okay?!? I lost my brother the day I was expecting to promise myself to her, to tell her that when we grew older she and I would mate. I lost my own fucking brother because of my fault, I didn’t want her to die because of me.” He screamed at Ao’nung, leaving my brother dumbfounded. “You know what it is like to feel the way I feel. How would you feel if Y/n or Tsireya died? Huh?”.
Lo’ak was fuming. He didn’t want to push me away.
Later on, he saw me on the beach and he sat down next to me. “Y/n, can we talk?” He asked me. “ yeah, are you going to blame me anymore for doing the job I was forced to do?”.
He winced a little bit at my harsh words. Silence fell upon us. Nobody dared to say a word. Even the world surrounding us sounded quieter. “Lo’ak…. Have you chosen a mate yet?” I asked, my voice almost a whisper. “Yes”.
My heart broke.
“Who is it? Is it Tsireya?” I looked at him, both of us had glossy eyes, one minute away from crying. “No.” He just answered. “There is only one for me”.
“Who is it then?!” “Only you, my girl” he said, tears breaking free for both of us. I started to cry, not very much understanding the situation anymore. “Only you my girl, only you babe” he continued saying like a mantra, while he kissed me.
Later on, he explained everything to me and even if we would have a long journey before us just to get back to the way we were, now we were together.

I know you’re sick of hearing about shea but there’s no damn way I would’ve been able to keep my cool like some of the girls colby has allegedly dated. With ANY man there’s just no way I’m going to be treated like the friend while she’s treated like the girlfriend. It’s always a red flag to me when a guy has a girl “best friend” bc it’s always more than that.
i think part of the reason nothing major has happened is none of his relationships have been serious. i mean the last girl that claimed to have been his gf was in 2019, and colby himself says the last time he had a gf was in 2016 so i think that's why we haven't heard anything too bad. a lot of the girls have been flings, so they already know he ain't their bf.
minus the small few (like maybe two??) that thought otherwise. one was iris back in 2019 and the only other person that ever said they were dating colby was spookybaby all the way back in 2018. and even then that whole thing was super brief.
i think there was like one other girl in 2018 that he could have actually dated, bc that was the year he started the whole "i don't like girls in la, i don't like dating in la" bs so i think he got his heart broken and that was the end of actually looking for someone lol
and personally, idc if a guy has girl friends, mostly bc i've been friends with guys my whole life. and even when i had a crush on my guy friends, i made sure to never disrespect their relationship. and so have the guys in return (meaning they never crossed boundaries with me that would be perceived negatively by their gfs).
i would like to believe that she comes from a good place, that she's trying to protect colby. however, to me it seems like there is an ulterior motive to why she acts like his watch dog, and it ain't bc she's concerned. i think in her head she believes she's entitled to him in the end. that regardless of who he dates or hooks up with, they are just the placeholder for her until he "finally" settles down with her. idk, but personally if i was with colby, and she tried to play some game like that, i'd fuck him in front of her to assert dominance lmaooo
i kid, but only slightly. truthfully, i would be like my mom when some girl was trying to fight her over my dad way back in the day: smile and say "you can have him". and let the chips fall where they may.
i've said this before but i feel like i need to repeat myself: shea already has colby to some extent. he is best friends with. i do not see him ever leaving her or not being friends with her. clearly colby has made it apparent that he is not interested in her. why is his friendship not enough??? and if he is getting her hopes up (which i pray isn't the case bc that's fucked) at what point do you go "i've been played too many times, so i'm done"?????

Just A Stranger On The Bus
"I had a sky blue ragtop Mustang - 1964
She drove it off into the night - 'till it wouldn't go no more
She caught a ride on into town
Bought some gas and laid the top down
She burned that pony to the ground
On the desert in New Mexico
When Rita leeeaaaves...........Rita's Gone."
Delbert McClinton  - When Rita Leaves
What a great way to leave.  A fantasmagorical "Screw you Delbert!  I'm outa here!"
If Rita had forgiven old Delbert and stayed - who knows?  Maybe they would have spent the next 40 years arguing about the living room thermostat.
After that fantastic flames-to-the-sky-ain't-no-going-back-now breakup - what happened to Rita?
Was she hunted down and brought to justice by a "Mustang Owners Of America" hit squad?
Maybe karma intervened instead, and, a few days later, feeling pretty darn foolish, she died of thirst somewhere on the desert in New Mexico and was found lying there, mummy-like, fully rigor mortigated, thumb pointed to the sky still hitching a ride.
Movies never show what happens for the next 50 years after the 'ending'.
And the tabloids and media make huge money showing us all those fairy tale romances between big stars and celebrities.  Then a few years later make even more money as we watch with jaws hanging open as Johnny and Amber's lawyers present graphical photographic evidence of poop on a bed.
There's always an 'after' even if we don't get to see it.
(me sighing, shivering, taking a deep breath with that picture burned into my brain)....So what happened to all those people we once knew, some for years, others just briefly?
Did they eventually poop on the bed?
Old flames and first loves, old enemies and sometime rivals, once upon a time BFFs, bar crawling brothers in arms, casual acquaintances, even people you allegedly insulted.
Like billiard balls after a break, we spend our lives bouncing off of events and experiencing interactions with other people. And like in billiards, even a slight angled touch can cause a ball heading towards a bank to instead disappear into a side pocket?
I sometimes wonder about those guys my brother and I ran with in South Florida when we were about 14 years old.
They ended up getting caught.  And here are the two of us 65 years later - one of us hardly even shunned by our community.
Don't even remember their names.  Did they turn their lives around and live long and fruitful lives?  Maybe one of them founded a billion dollar Internet company, or, always a liar and thief, ended up elected to Congress?
Like that maniacal butterfly in China creating a tornado in Bugscuffle, Tennessee even very casual interactions may cause major changes in a person's life.
Was I changed by that small interaction with that beer vendor at the 1964 New York World's Fair?  It was the first time I drank German beer.  Might explain the beer belly.
Did every single person who slighted me in even the teensiest tiniest little bit meet a horrible and completely justifiable death?  One can only hope.
I met a guy in a tavern in Barstow, California in 1966 and talked him into having 'just one more for the road'.
Could it be that one more little drinkypoo caused him to stagger and stumble crossing the street where it ended with him flattened and made all squishy like a day old taco....
....crushed by a runaway Peterbilt Semi full of clown costumes on it's way to a Bozo the Clown Conference in Why, Arizona?
Tumblr media
If that did happen, I'd like to think that maybe he at least died laughing.  (If so....sorry about that, whoever you used to be.)
And what about all those people we lightly touched many years ago and later passed closely by but missed touching again?
Famous people, people who later became famous, people who later became notorious.
When Ted Bundy stopped off for a beer there were people in the bar who didn't know who he was.  Maybe he bought a round of beers.  Did one of them narrowly escape death?
How about people you once knew and almost, but didn't, touch again.  Maybe just felt the air move as they swept by unnoticed or, maybe you felt a chill go down your spine but didn't know why.
Or something in a store window caught your eye and as you turned to examine it, your first high school sweetheart passed silently behind you.
Sometimes it feels like life is just one big What If prank somebody or something is playing on us.
"What if God was one of us? Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Tryna' make His way home" Joan Osborne - One Of Us
So keep your eyes open and pay attention.
And, to all those people I bounced off of, however slight the angle and depending on the outcome -
"I'm Really And Truly Sorry!" "You're Welcome!" "Thank You So Very Much!" or, "Up Yours, Bucko!"

Meeting and Dating Auggie Hilderbrandt
Tumblr media
(Not my gif)(Requested by anonymous)
- Mill Valley is a small town, everybody knows who everybody else is and their entire life story, so while you may not have been friends with Auggie your entire life, you both at least knew of each other’s existences.
- You know that summer break between middle school and high school. You know, the one where everything seems to change no matter how much you want it to stay the same? Yeah, that one.
- Well, it went just the way you figured it would but prayed it wouldn’t. You barely talked to your friends over the summer; or maybe you did, and then, when you entered your first year of highschool …none of your friends would talk to you.
- To be fair, the decline was a bit slower than that statement makes it seem. It was more like you lost your friends over the course of the first month of high school when you had no classes with them and they found other, cooler friends.
- Although, you can at least thank the cruelness of freshman year for bringing Auggie into your life, right?
- In the ninth grade, your last class of the day ended up being history, and on the day that you met Auggie, said class was significantly less bearable than usual; on account of it being presentation day.
- Whether you thought you did wonderful or awful isn’t important. What is important is what happened after class ended.
- You were pulling things out of your locker when the blonde boy, politely interrupted and asked if you could move your locker door a little so he could get into his. You apologized and did so, continuing your ritualistic stuffing of your bookbag.
“I-uh, I really liked your presentation. It was really nice.” He said, turning to look at you as he yanked a textbook out of his own locker. You thanked him, continuing to make pleasant conversation as you got ready to leave for the day; though you were soon interrupted.
“Auggie! Stop perving on the chick and come on already!” You jumped as a brown haired boy yelled at the two of you from down the hall. Auggie sent Chuck a look as he closed his locker, prompting the boy to snicker and exit the front doors again.
- Once he was gone, Auggie turned back to you and apologized. You told him that it was fine and he asked if you were sure  because he “can go and kick his ass” if it wasn't. You laughed and assured him it was and he nodded, chuckling along with you.
- Afterwards, he turned to leave, but before he began to walk, he turned back to you and asked if you were heading in a certain direction. You replied that you were and he asked if you wanted to walk with him and his friends. You agreed and before you knew it, you were being introduced to Chuck and Stella and joining the little trio on their walk home everyday.
- You, Auggie, Stella and Chuck become friends fairly quickly. You’re sort of the outcasts of your school but none of you particularly mind, so long as Tommy isn’t around and you’re all together.
- It’s about a year after the four of you become friends that Auggie finally asks you out. Throughout your friendship, you notice little things about him that make you suspect he harbors some kind of feelings towards you; and other times you’re completely sure that he has a crush on you, but you also knew that Auggie allegedly liked “all girls” so you didn’t pay it much mind.
- Regardless, he asks you out while you and your other friends are walking home from hanging out at the bowling alley/arcade.
- Chuck and Stella were a few yards ahead of you while the blonde had silently fallen into step with you, making sure you weren’t left behind. The two of you hadn’t really been talking, merely synchronizing your steps as you listened to your other friends debate about scores and cheating.
- As you were walking, you felt his knuckles begin to brush against yours and you tried your best to suppress a smile as his hand slipped delicately into your own. Neither Chuck nor Stella noticed and neither of you said a word as you continued to walk hand in hand.
- He finally says something after the two of you walk a couple more blocks.
“The theater’s playing a new Elizabeth Taylor movie this weekend. …Would you wanna go with me?”
- You told him that you would and the two of you smiled at each other before Chuck interrupted, whooping and teasing “the two love birds”. Auggie pulled away from you to chase after him, the two of them running down the sidewalk as Stella waited for you to catch up, trying to squeeze some information out of you as you did.
- So, the two of you go to the movies for your first date. You figured that it would be at least a little awkward but it really wasn’t; at least not after the first few minutes of getting used to the fact that you were on a date and not just hanging out as friends.
- You both had a lot of fun and the two of you ended the night looking forward to your potential romance.
- The two of you share your first kiss after a few more dates. You’re walking home after one of them, talking about what you did or whatever random thing popped into your head but all he could really focus on was your face and glancing down at your lips.
- Soon enough, he just couldn’t take it and stopped short; causing you to pause as well. You were going to say something but the look on his face stopped you and before you knew it, he was leaning down and slowly, hesitantly, pressing his lips to yours. It didn’t take long for you to kiss him back.
- The two of you stood kissing for a few minutes before he hesitantly pulled away, your eyes locking as he did so. You were silent for a long moment before he finally kissed your forehead and grabbed your arm, nodding down the sidewalk and telling you that its late and that you should be getting home, a blush finding its way onto his cheeks. You merely smiled and began walking with him again.
- And just like that, the two of you were official.
- Auggie loves pda. He gets a bit shy when people bring it up or tease the two of you (*cough cough Chuck cough cough*), but he likes the distinct feeling of “wow I’m really her boyfriend” that engaging in pda brings. He also likes being able to show off that you’re “his”.
- His hands on your arms or shoulders as he stands behind you. Is he keeping you close to him? Is he using you as a human meat shield? Depends on the context, babe.
- Long hugs.
- Handholding.
- Forehead and nose kisses.
- Soft, sweet kisses.
- Slow makeout sessions.
- All you have to do to cheer him up when he’s in a grumpy mood is stand between his legs; or sit in his lap, and press kisses to his face and lips. He loves whenever you do it and he loves just having you in his lap.
- He mainly calls you by your name or a nickname that comes out of it, but he occasionally hits you with a “babe”, “honey” or “sweetie”. There’s also a chance of him having a really cute, lovey dovey pet name for you that he only calls you when you’re completely alone; but his friends find out and tease him relentlessly for it.
- The two of you cuddle in a bunch of different positions but usually you cuddle facing each other, your head tucked beneath his chin, his arms wrapped around you and your legs tangled together.
- Something tells me that he’d like doing your hair: braiding it, putting it in a bun, etc. He probably learned how to do it for his mother and now just finds it fun to do.
- The two of you do a lot of hanging out at his house. I have a feeling that his parents; or his mother and step father, go out a lot or work a lot so he finds himself home alone for at least a few hours a week.
- Reading magazines together. He’s got a bunch of old science magazines and other similar articles that you can rifle through; and his mom has some more feminine ones if you aren’t into those.
- Listening to him talk about all his “weird” interests and the strange little facts he knows.
- Long conversations. Hours can go by in the blink of an eye when the two of you get deep into something: whether it’s random topics, conspiracies or just small town rumors.
- Occasionally just doing little things to get on his nerves. It’s fun to mess with him when he gets all fatherly with you; telling you that you shouldn't do this or that because of blah, blah, blah. He’ll give you a look and some snarky comment but once you give him a peck on the lips, he drops it.
- Studying and doing homework together; or at least going to his house to do homework/study while he does his own thing. The only problem with it is that you’ve both used the “can you help me study” excuse to have each other come over and make out so now neither of you know exactly what you’re in for when the other asks you to come study with them.
- Him tagging along whenever you want to do something; he just sort of goes along with whatever you have planned most of the time. Wanna go into the woods? Sure. Wanna see a movie? Lovely. Wanna ride your bikes? Fine by him.
- Running errands with him. You’ve usually got nothing better to do and seeing him look at the components of cereal so intently is actually quite amusing.
- Bringing him food or coming over to cook with him. As we saw, his mother can be a little forgetful or just inconsiderate so he’ll occasionally be stuck with an empty fridge and no company, giving you the perfect excuse to come over and play sous chef.
- Spending most rainy or snowy days at his house. The two of you usually get cozied up in his bedroom or living room, have some tea and combat the bleakness of the weather with each others company.
- Board games. I’m not saying that you got into a genuine fight over monopoly …but you got into a fight over monopoly.
- Dancing together. He’ll put on an old record and the two of you will slow dance, his cheek resting against the top of your head and your bodies pressed close together.
- Hanging out with Stella and Chuck. You stay behind with him or try to convince him to come when the two of them want to go do something chaotic.
- Your friends catch him staring at you a lot. He just thinks you’re beautiful and can’t believe you’re actually dating.
“What? She’s my girlfriend.”
“Still weird man.”
“What; how is that weird? We’re dating?”
- Teasing each other. The two of you go back and forth constantly.
- Making faces at each other. He likes doing it while you’re preoccupied with something or someone; he likes watching you try to keep a straight face.
- He’s probably snuck in through your window before; and you’ve probably snuck in through his more than a few times.
- Picnics and walks through the more wooded areas of town.
- Sometimes, he’ll randomly just reappear at your side with a flower for you as you’re walking together and it never fails to put a smile on your face.
- Movie and tv dates.
- Resident spider killer™. He lowkey loves whenever you ask him to do something like that; it makes him feel all tough and useful.
- Having him try to impress you with his knowledge or show off. It’s actually quite adorable, watching him keep glancing over at you to see if you’re watching or listening, or to try and see your reaction.
- He’s always trying to break you out of your shell and help you to achieve your dreams, looking for things you’d like to do or finding outlets that can help you or could be fun.
- The two of you have a little routine where you call him when you get home so that he can make sure you’re home safe and so that the two of you can say goodnight, love you and so on.
- He tries to act like a gentleman for you; which only makes his non-gentlemanly behavior towards others around you incredibly funny. Like he’ll have just helped you down from somewhere and a second later he’ll be chasing and cursing at Chuck for saying something mocking.
- He can be very tender and caring when he wants to be. He’ll always try to help you relax or calm down, getting people to drop subjects that feed into your paranoia or just assuring you that everything's okay.
- Little check ins. Whenever you give him a random hug or grab his arm or anything, he’ll ask if you’re alright, making sure you just wanted to do it and that you’re okay.
- He gets a little grumpy when he’s jealous but he never gets explosive or overreacts. He usually only gets jealous when he has a bit of a reason to or is feeling insecure and usually acts pretty calm, trying to make it seem like he isn’t worried when he definitely is.
- He’s a bit of a coward at times but he usually just talks a big game and hopes for the best. He’s not incredibly protective but he’s always there for you; especially when it comes to little things like spiders or the paranormal (which he doesn’t believe in).
- The two of you don’t get into a lot of serious fights; you mainly just bicker and make up a few minutes later. When things do get serious, it’s usually when he isn’t listening to you or brushing something off or because you’ve done something wrong.
- He doesn’t like not resolving things before the two of you part ways so he’ll try to fix things when he notices you’re really bothered by something he said or did; but sometimes he just might not catch it until the next day when there’s obvious tension between the two of you. He’ll apologize and explain his side of things and the two of you will usually make up pretty easily after that.
- He tells you he loves you quite a bit, usually when you’re saying goodbye or so on and so forth. He likes doing it, it just feels natural and nice; not to mention the fact that he likes hearing you say it back.
- Well, thanks to Stella you’ve got a big storm heading your way; but you think you’re gonna keep holding on hope and hunting for a resolution.

Rumours
Scott McCall x fem!reader
Royalty AU
Summary: Princess Y/N (soon to be Queen) and her sisters have to find suitors by the end of the ball tonight or their parents will choose for them. What happens when all of her focus goes into her small investigation into the rumours of werewolves instead?
A/N: Ok so this is for @demxters writing challenge. Don’t know if it’s too late but I like it so I’m gonna post it. It is a royalty AU so that was fun to right. Also I think Scott is a little cocky in this so you have been warned.

Just to make things clear, you weren't the most fond of being dressed up like a doll and paraded around in front of suitors. You also hated that you didn't have worth until you had a man. Your father and mother, King and Queen of the kingdom, had organised a ball in honour of you and your sisters and had insisted you'd try to find your suitors by the end of the night or they'd been chosen for you. All three of you had been told that in order for the man to be worthy he must have a wealthy kingdom, highly respected and, of course, want to continue his bloodline. Your father had added that you should also feel something for him and that one was really a priority but your mother had disagreed. She was difficult like that. But even though you hated her views and all of this, you didn't have it as bad as your youngest sister. She had a major crush on her maid, Tammy, and it was something she'd only shared with you and your other sister and she was distraught when she found out she'd have to pick someone soon. Said whatever man threw himself at her first would do because she'd never be interested in any.
But back to being dressed up like a doll. Though you may despise it, you didn't look half bad in the lilac ball gown or the small tiara. Actually, having your hair braided in a crown suited you. And with the few touches of makeup, dare say you looked gorgeous. Relaxing your shoulders and shaking out your hands, you took a deep breath. A necklace was placed on you by your maid Charlene, a small gold chain with a circle pendant. Smiling at the girl through the mirror, you watched her curtsy and leave. With nobody else in the room and a good five minutes until they collected you, you reached under your bed and pulled out a box. Inside were papers, all connected with information on sightings of wild dogs though most claimed it to be a creature of the devil, a werewolf. You loved a good mystery and you loved a good secret so you investigating these cases without anyone knowing was thrilling. And though you believe yourself to be rational, the only logical conclusion you had brought up was in fact werewolves. Always on a full moon, always human like dog figures, in a pack and you had heard of someone even calming them down enough that their eyes didn't glow the strange colours they allegedly did. Another thing you had found out was that there had been a link brought up between said werewolves and a prince of a neighbouring kingdom. A Prince who was attending the ball tonight.
The plan was simple, dance with a few other men then eventually him. When you reach him, strike up a conversation about his kingdom then bring up you'd heard faint rumours about wild dogs near there. Watch his reaction and deem whether the questioning should go further. Maybe push a little more even when it seems like he doesn't know. Whatever you could do to get the truth and if you couldn't get it from him, see if there's anyone he looks to or talks to straight after. You liked to believe that over the many years you have spent training to be Queen (being the oldest and all) you'd learnt the art of observation. You'd learnt little ticks and traits most people had and had even been able to pick up on other non obvious ones. I mean it was you who had noticed the last cook lie about the stolen necklace and had managed to make him confess through a few psychological tricks you picked up. Or when you can tell your parents are lying or your sisters' are keeping something from you, you know. So this should be easy.
Hearing the distant echo of heels, you kicked the box carelessly under your bed and rushed to sit in the seat before your mirror as your hands moved to the corset. It was tighter than usual, no doubt upon your mother's request. She'd made it clear she thought you were putting on weight, cutting your meals down and making you walk around the grounds more. Said you spent too much time in your room when in reality you had just snook out to investigate by borrowing Charlene's spare uniform which you always washed after. Your mother disapproved with anything that wasn't related to royal duty and had always shut down your detective side growing up.
Speak of the devil.
"The ball's starting. I suggest you start heading down," you gave a faint nod at her words, not looking her way until she sighed. Your mother raised an eyebrow at you and you rolled your eyes before smiling brightly and straightening out your posture. She nodded before walking away and as soon as she was out of sight, you relaxed with a frown curving your lips down. You paused for a second, debating whether you really wanted to go or not but you had to. You threw your head back with a groan before standing up and leaving the room. Your sisters were waiting outside your room, both slumping against the wall as they spoke to one another. "What are you guys doing? We said we'd meet there," You began to make your way down the hall, your sisters quickly catching up and matching your quick pace as they laughed. "What's got you so paranoid? Worried about a certain someone maybe?"
"No, she doesn't leave this place, how could she be expecting to see someone?" Your jaw dropped at Anna's words, glancing to a laughing Victoria. Rolling your eyes, you reached up to fiddle with your necklace as your sisters grinned to each other. "Very mature. I'm actually more worried about the fact mother is watching over, she's literally the most intimidating when she's staring at you from the other side of the room over a glass of wine and a coy smile," Both nodded as the three of you stopped at the door, Anna sighing as she nodded to the guard who smiled in return and opened the door to inform them of the announcement. "I hate this," you chuckled at Anna, fixing your dress as your nerves got the better of you, "No, you hate men," Victoria giggled at the way Anna's face dropped as you just smirked. The youngest shook her head as she frowned, "You can't say that! What if mother and father hear? I'd be disowned!" You both stopped laughing just as Anna's name was called, the girl entering the hall with an unbelievable amount of grace and you prayed you wouldn't make a fool of yourself when you had to.
-
Walking down the stairs with all eyes on you is scary enough but when you almost trip on your gown, it's ten times worse. Thankfully no one had pointed it out or laughed (minus your sisters that is) and you could pretend like it didn't happen. Now though, you stood to the side and watched the dance take place whilst waiting for a certain Prince to join. Of course, he was too busy talking to his friends and joking around and it did not look like he was going to anytime soon. "Hey loser. How's it spending the night by yourself?" You sent the giggling girl a sarcastic smile before you went back to observing. "First of all Victoria, that was extremely rude. Second, it's only ten minutes in and third, I have to be just a little drunk to handle all this so," you downed the rest of your wine, immediately reaching for another two glasses from the guy who had just walked past with a thankful nod and small smile.
Victoria rolled her eyes as she copied you actions of taking another glass and raising an eyebrow as you downed both glasses one after another. Her eyes scanned the rest of the room and a small snort from her caught your attention and you followed her gaze only to see your mother's disappointed expression and harsh glare. You scoffed, reaching to one of the chocolates on the table behind you and leaving the glasses there, "Oh, is she disappointed? How unfortunate," Victoria laughed at your comment before her attention was taken away and she was waving to one of the guys across the room. She handed you the half finish glass and turned so her back was towards the guy as she adjusted her dress and fixed her hair, "Look good, right?" You grabbed another chocolate as you nodded and she patted your hand that held the wine glass, "I'll leave you with that. Have fun being a disappointment," she commented and you smirked at the words, a light laugh leaving your lips, "Oh, you know I will," you both chuckled at your words, her walking off to the guy as you downed the rest of her wine and continued to observe.
You saw the Prince talking with one of his friends who was nervously glancing towards one of the guards from his kingdom by the look of things and you grinned. Your eyes went to Anna who nodded along bored by the guy in front of her. Her gaze kept going to the maid by the stairs who was taking round some of the foods and chatting away with one of the other maids. You chuckled at the jealousy radiating off her and how oblivious everyone else (except Victoria, of course) was to it. Placing the glass down and adjusting your tiara, you straightened out your posture and made your way to the dance floor, noticing the way the prince was repeatedly glancing at you when he saw. You sent a sweet smile back, watching as he blushed and stuttered over his words, not that you were close enough to hear but you could see from where you were. You began to dance with a guy, some Lord or Duke. To be honest, you didn't really listen to his introduction after hearing how cocky and self-centered he was from the first few words to leave his mouth. You fake a smile, making sure he and anyone else knew that it wasn't real.
At some point, the prince had disappeared from his place at the side of the ballroom and as you stared round trying to find him, you moved to the next guy and sparing a glance to the one you're dancing with now. You continue to look round but do a double take when it finally registers that he's right in front of you. He laughs at your expression, seeming more confident than before after seeing you splutter in shock. Soon enough, you regain your posture and small smirk that he smiles at. "And who may you be?" He grinned at the mischievous expression you had, spinning you before answering, "Scott McCall. No need to ask who you are, m'lady," you scoffed at his words, rolling your eyes at his tone. You shook your head, trying to find the best way to continue the conversation to get it where you needed it. Why not just jump straight into it?
"I think I've heard of your place. Rumours of werewolves, right?" You watched him tense and a small frown form on his lips. He continued to dance with you but he didn’t seem to interested in conversation anymore. “Oh come on,” you chuckled as he spun you out, rolling your eyes at his expression. “Think they’re real?” He rolled his eyes this time, relaxing at the look on your face. With the slight shake of his head, he bowed to you as the music came to an end. One glance over your shoulder and you grabbed his hand to drag him over to a far corner. “I don’t necessarily believe anything without proof,” you nodded, taking in his words and laughed at how he completely dodged answering. The two of you stopped when you were a little further away from everyone else. You leant against the wall, smirk on your lips as you countered, “You’re avoiding the question. So,” you bit your lip, unable to bite back the grin at the fact you were so close to the end of the mystery, “What do you know? Are you the person that calms them down or, even better, are you one of them?” He looked tense, scoffing at the suggestion as he played with a ring on his finger. He was nervous so whatever words came out his mouth next had to be a lie. “I’m not, I’m not one of them,” you saw him look up at the growing grin on your face, the mischief and pride in your eyes. A breathy laugh left you lips as your hand went up to play with the necklace, “Oh my god, you’re a, I mean I thought maybe because when I went out and stuff, investigating’s hard, a lot of people had heard a connection with you and, well I thought that maybe they were wrong but, wow, they had it spot on, didn’t they?” He looked shocked at your rambles and you realised that you let slip you were investigating, “You can’t tell anyone that. My mother will kill me if she found out,” he sighed, nodding and looking back to the ring. He seemed to be figuring something out, face scrunched up in thought, “A secret for a secret,” he smiled at the way you were quick to agree. Shaking his head, he laughed before looking to someone across the room, “Derek’s gonna kill me,”
“Is he the alpha?” You asked, following his gaze to the guard the boy was staring at earlier. He had his eyes fixed on you with a fierce glare and you sent a cheeky smile and wave back. When you turned back to Scott, he was already looking at you. “No, he’s a beta. You can tell from the eyes,” he gestured a finger around his and you grinned at everything you were learning. Practically jumping with excitement, you asked, “Well, what about you?” He flashed his eyes at you, the blood red almost mesmerising and he smiled at the awed look on your face. “Red, alpha,” you giggled making him blush, standing up straight and placing your hands on his cheeks to bring him down for a closer look, “So cool,” you mumbled, eyes flickering between his before you realised he was looking at your lips, the red fading from his eyes. With a slightly forced chuckle and growing blush, you took a step back. “Yeah, I don’t kiss on a first meeting. Try third or fifth,” he smiled at the half smirk, half grin on your lips. He nodded in understanding yet still took your hands in his. “Well, I was thinking, maybe, I could come back tomorrow and we could walk around the kingdom or you know, just the garden,” you tilted your head for a second, pretending to think as he laughed at your antics, “I think I’m too busy learning to be a stone hearted bitch from my mother but I could clear my schedule,” you both chuckled, hands swinging slightly between you.
With a sigh, you glanced over his shoulder at Anna, talking to his friend from before. “Who’s that? I saw you talking to him earlier, he was staring at Derek. Actually, he still is,” Scott spun round and smiled at the sight of the brunet, “That’s Stiles. He kinda has a thing for Derek,” you sighed as you watched Anna stare at Tammy from across the room, clearly obsessed with the girl, “Well, he’d be a perfect fit for my sister. Maybe we should go over and tell them they both have love life problems that could be solved by getting together,” he raised an eyebrow at you so you explained, “She likes Tammy, her maid. Maybe if the two were to court and they married, lived in a castle alone together with said infatuations of theirs, they could be happy,”
He nodded, glancing back to see them both blushing messes and you saw him become slightly more concentrated before he looked back to you with a growing grin, “No need, they’re putting it all together themselves,” you smiled, watching them talk enthusiastically about it all, clearly very happy with the plan they were creating. “So,” you put all your focus back on Scott and smiled at his grin, “What time should I come by tomorrow?”

“I don’t know about him, but I think your cooking is pretty nice”
Requested by @todoroki-waifu !  ❤️ I adored writing this, the idea is so sweet ty again! We do love this sweetheart 🤧💗 I hope you like it!
Tumblr media
“This’ll be perfect,” You muttered to yourself as you opened the oven, filling your kitchen with a delightful chocolate scent. “Well, it should be perfect.”
Your eyes trailed to the fresh, steaming muffins you were struggling to make all morning. All for one person. Well, you did make a pretty big batch of them so you decided to share some with Genya, a dear friend of yours. Nonetheless, that “special person” didn’t leave your mind for a moment.
That crush of yours lived surprisingly close and much to your nervousness, you handed the treats over shortly after they’ve been baked.
“I wonder what will he say.. He seemed happy to receive them!” You couldn’t help but wonder, excitement in your heart. But it was not the time to worry over such matters, after all you were confident he would like them, and possibly bond with you. Right after you handed over the sweet package, you left off to meet Genya in the city as planned.
Such a dear friend he was to you, and you’ve known each other for a while too. A reliable, kind and down-to-earth guy, he never failed to calm you down when you were upset or cheer you up with his sweet gestures. Spending the day with him and joking around was your favorite pastime, and today you had all the time in the world.
As soon as you arrived to your destination, a pair of friendly, familiar eyes glanced at you as you slightly waved towards your friend.
“Hey! Sorry for the wait, I hope you didn’t bore yourself too much haha,” you laughed and took in Genya’s hug, “I brought you those muffins so you can’t get mad at me lol.”
“Yeah, yeah I forgive you,” he snickered as he slowly let go of you, “let’s just go get some tea already.”
It was so relaxing, walking with your friend as he went on about his day, warm sunlight illuminating the wide street. “Heh, no one can help me relax like Genya.” You thought to yourself, small grin formed on your face. It’s something about his presence that makes you feel so at ease, like home. You basically forgot about all that anxiety from earlier regarding your crush, it went away like a small leaf on a windy day. Well, that is before your eyes shifted to a garbage can next to you.
You stood for a second, a confused Genya following suit as you looked at those familiar treats, your blue wrapper still attached to them. Your mind was blank, and before even a thought came in you heard two voices, one of them you knew very well.
“What was that about? They taste like shit.” You hear your crush’s voice somewhere in the crowd.
“Really? They looked pretty good, but looks like looks can deceive then hahaha”
“Who cares about looks when you can’t even cook! Imagine having a wife like that,” he belligerently laughed with a friend, not even noticing you were nearby, trying to process the scenario in front of you.
“This can’t be right. What is going on?” you mutter, tears slowly forming in your eyes as you stare at the discarded sweets, the ones you worked so hard on. Only for them to be thrown away like they’re trash. “I guess they are trash then.. Couldn’t I even do that right?”
As you were on the verge of tears, your friend was standing there, nervously pontificating what to do. You told him about your plan to hand your crush those muffins, and he cheered you on earlier, regardless of his suspicions of the guy. After all, you meant more to him than you even knew. And now, seeing you broken like that despite your kind act made his blood boil. He wasn’t sure whether give that person a beating right there and then or to help comfort you.
“.. The beating can wait. She doesn’t have to.” He thought to himself after a minute and immediately rushed to your side.
“Hey.. Are you alright?” he whispered, worry in his voice as he placed his hand gently on yours.
Clearly you weren’t in a good place, but he didn’t know what else to say to soothe you. He always think his words may come off as too bland and fears they may not help or even make the situation worse. But he didn’t want to let his insecurities get in the way of making you feel better, all he wanted was to see your face light up again as it did before.
“Why do you think he-“
You were cut of mid-sentence and stood there as your eyes shifted to your good friend, who was now eating those same muffins you gave him earlier. Before you even noticed he had took out the bag you gave him from his jacket and started eating those allegedly “horrible” treats.
“W-wait, what are you doing?” you stammered, lightly tugging his arm, but there was no response from him.
“Stop it! Why are you eating them, you know they’re disgusting,” your voice shook, tears still swelling, “please.. I’m gonna make new ones when I come back home, cut it out”
But again, as if your words came into one ear and went through the other, he wasn’t stopping and had no intention of doing so.
“I don’t know what was that douchebag talking about,” he said, innocently looking you in the eyes, “these taste delicious.”
Your tears started pouring out of your eyes as you continued begging him to stop consuming the food, but to no avail. There was nothing in this world that could convince him they were disgusting like you and that guy said they were. To him, they were delightful.
“There, all done,” he sighed contently and took you in a warm hug, “I don’t know what the fuss was about. Seems to me that guy just doesn’t know how to appreciate what’s good. I don’t know about him… but I think your cooking is pretty nice.”
Your mind was blank again. You knew how much your friend cared for you, but this? You couldn’t help but bury your face in his chest, and let out some excess tears that were still bottling up. But this time they weren’t the ones of a hurt person, this time they were tears of gratitude.
If anyone was always there for you, it was him, the man in front of you holding you in his gentle embrace.  You knew that very well, and minute by minute you were slowly regaining your composure. It’s that calming presence of his again. You felt calmer, as if you didn’t mess up anything, contrasting those strong emotions from before. And to him you didn’t mess up a thing.
“Are you still up for some tea?” he spoke after a while, you now fully composed.
“Sure.. Thanks.” You smiled softly and you two departed. He knew it was going to take you a few days to start feeling like yourself again, the least he could do is treat you to some tea and help you relax after all that. He spent the whole day with you, helping you cheer up.
But has he forgotten about the whole thing with your crush? Of course not.
He’s the type to hold a grudge, and this one he can’t push aside just like that. And he most certainly didn’t give the guy a beating the day after. We… do not talk about that.
Your smile is his favorite thing to see in the world, and he’d pummel anyone who threatens it. You’re the light in his life, one he would protect no matter the cost because you mean oh so much to him. And after a couple weeks you found that out yourself

Ch.7: Of burdens and duties (4)
Naruto tries to look like he is not bored out of his mind. But they sure are testing his patience. To go see a lord he already forgot his name when he’s free, to consider sponsoring a new trade route Naruto had already discarded with the council, to lend his power to suppress an uprising someplace he didn’t care to remember.
His father’s hand touching his shoulder almost made him whine in relief.
“I’m afraid I need Lord Naruto for a while, if you’ll excuse me.” His father actually looks apologetic, and Naruto almost wants to congratulate him for being such a good actor. Do whatever you need to do, just get me out of here, he thinks.
And although the lords and ladies surrounding Naruto complain and whine about his father taking him, Minato takes him away amids excuses and apologetic glances everyone else buys.
They are out of earshot when Naruto sighs and thanks his father for his timing, “I was dying of boredom.”
His father snickers, “Thought it was time for you to get stressed out.”
    “Hinata?”
    “With Lord Gaara.”
Naruto raises an eyebrow at him, but doesn’t press further. He’s going to her right now to make sure she’s all right anyway.
There are some people who look at him and make as if getting closer, but Naruto raises a hand in apology and keeps on walking. He has already spent a good amount of time with them, let him leave, jeez.
Temari is the first one to notice him, and she gives him a nod before moving her body to give him a clearer view. Sai is looking around, sitting right beside Hinata. She is sitting straight, all poise and elegance, and her attention is on Gaara, who’s talking and moving his fingers as if counting.
He comes closer, keeping his eyes on her. Kankuro turns then, Sai glances over him and Gaara raises his head as he realizes his siblings’ attention is elsewhere. Then Hinata looks away from Gaara, follows his line of sight and looks at him.
Her shoulders drop in relief, her eyes widen and Naruto has to stop himself from gathering her up in his arms and crushing her against him. Sai stands up the moment he’s close enough and Naruto sits beside her. She stays unmoving and Naruto searches for her hands before bringing it to his thigh. Hinata gives him a small smile and as he rubs circles over her skin she squeezes back.
Gaara resumes his talking when Hinata looks back at him.
“So,” he continues, “only in attendance today are the One-Tail, the Five-Tail, Six-Tail and the Nine-Tail.” His fingers come down as he remembers. “The Four-Tail is allegedly dying-”
“Which him not coming today kind of fans the flames of that rumor,” Kankuro shrugs and Temari nods along.
“And reports have been coming in that the Two-Tail has been sealed already but they are giving time to their Beast Tamer to acclimate.”
    Hinata frowns, “T-the others… w-where are the o-other B-beasts?”
“In the wild,” chimes in Naruto, “being restrained by the clans who want a claim on them.”
    “W-who?”
Naruto shrugs, “We can’t know unless someone comes forward and claims their stake, but so far no one has done so. We don’t know where they are either.” His tone is matter of fact and his stance tells Hinata he doesn’t mind the situation one bit.
She keeps her worries to herself. If it’s not enough to worry a Beast Tamer, then surely they were unfounded. But Naruto presses on her hand, grabbing her attention.
    “Anything else?”
    “Ah, w-well. Isn’t it d-d-angerous?”
“Oh, well, if the Beasts were roaming freely then sure, and we Beast Tamers would have to step up and contain it. But since they are out there doing nothing, it’s better for us not to waste resources on that. They are being taken care of, and eventually a new Beast Tamer will appear.”
    “H-have you h-had to?”
Naruto cocks his head to the side in confusion.
    “T-take care of a w-wild B-beast.”
“Oh, no,” he says, “not in our generation. That kind of thing happened like three generations prior, when we were starting to seal them in ourselves.”
Hinata nods, as now everything starts to come together with the knowledge she had of Beast Tamers before becoming the wife of one. Before the Beasts were sealed in humans the clans either drew them off into the wild and far away from them or tried to seal them in places. A mountain, a cave, a forest. Only when they started sealing them within themselves to draw from their power did the Beast Tamers came into reality.
Hinata wonders, steals a glance at Naruto  who is starting a conversation with Lord Gaara. Would it be so bad to let the Nine-Tail out into the wild again? Tied to a forest far away from everyone? That way Naruto…
He brings her out of her thoughts as he scoots closer to her and lays their intertwined hands over her thigh now, Hinata feels herself blushing and notices immediately the mischievous smirk on Naruto’s face.
    He is enjoying this.
⁂⁂⁂
Hinata spends the rest of the day by Naruto's side. Like his father did before, when people don't accept Naruto's hand wave and leave, he walks to them, away from the group and comes back immediately after.
Lord Gaara and his entourage left a while ago, as soon as the demonstrations started. Each Beast Tamer sits in a specified area around the arena, at the highest part of the structure, in order of the number of tails of their respective Beasts. Lord Naruto sits at one of the edges and Lord Gaara is right in front of his line of sight.
Naruto relaxes the moment the show starts, and it's obvious why. The area the Beast Tamers sit at is off-limits to anyone but the people sanctioned by them, and a quick glance around tells Hinata that the Beast Tamers only keep their guards and a selected handful of other people. Many of the lords Naruto talked with before were not in here and new faces were presented before Hinata with a whole new attitude.
These people he liked, she realized, and by the way they conducted themselves the feeling was mutual.
Most of the lords and ladies that came to Naruto before sit under them, in the next level. Still substantially high up, but incapable of bothering the Beast Tamers. Not that they seem to mind, as they are now enthralled in the fights under them. With their hands intertwined and grabbing their clothes in suspense, Hinata sees some of them groaning in frustration while others clap in glee at the results.
Naruto sits with his hand on her thigh, and he glances back at her every once in a while. Rubs his thumb over her clothes, offers drinks and food Hinata ends up refusing after a while.
Sai sits right beside her, on her other side, and Sakura has come sit next to Naruto instead of Shino. They comment on the fights and some of the lords and ladies they met before and Sakura's laugh fills the room in intervals.
Hinata snickers at some of their comments, harsh and way too honest, and whenever she sits there, confused since she's missing information, either Sakura or Naruto lean to her and add an explanation.
There are few instances in which Hinata had the fortune of visiting a festival before. All of them under the eyes of the Hyuga. The places were beautiful and the people were happy and Hinata could only watch. Her stutter made her keep her mouth quiet and it meant she could never join in anything worth doing.
Naruto presses his hand on her leg, inches closer to the edge of his seat as the fight reaches its climax. One of the fighters uses a flashy fire technique that engulfs half the arena and the people watching hold their breaths as they expect to see the opponent laying on the ground. But he's cocooned inside walls he raised from the ground, and he dashes forward immediately after. His enemy yields the moment he sees him running towards him.
And Naruto laughs in joy. "Did you see that?" He asks, and Hinata can feel his eyes on her. She smiles and can't control the feeling that overcomes her as Naruto looks at her expecting a reaction. Whatever it may be.
She takes her time, as usual, but she doesn't worry, because she knows he will wait. "Went all or n-nothing on that last one, d-didn't he?"
Naruto's energy is contagious, and Hinata can't remember a time in which she was so mesmerized in fighting before. He nods along and shrugs, "You always gotta keep your chakra supply in check."
"Like you've ever had to worry about that," jabs Sakura, and Naruto turns to her with mock hurt on his face.
"I'll let you know I am very conscientious about my own chakra, thank you very much."
Lord Minato rarely comments and spends his time quiet and attentive behind his son, but this time he inches forward, right between Hinata and Naruto, and he says, "You are very welcome, son, thank you very much."
Naruto turns to him and looks as if he's been betrayed in the worst way possible. Sakura keeps on pestering him, now that Lord Minato has joined in, and Naruto waves them away frowning as if he's pissed, but he snickers the second after, and he can't help but laugh as he attempts to defend his position with weak arguments.
Even Sai chimes in, and Hinata can feel herself relishing this ambience, this situation. She is enjoying herself. And she brings her hand to her mouth in an attempt to hide the laugh that threatens to spill forth.
The tremor that rattles their room is enough for the conversation to die out immediately and for everyone to stand alert. Naruto grabs her arm and brings her closer to him.
The sound comes to them from the farthest corner of the arena. The people standing in attention stare at the direction where the sound came from and Hinata can feel Naruto's hand trembling as they realize that it's-
"Gaara," Naruto whispers and he squints his eyes as if that's enough for him to be able to see between the people and the cloud of dirt that stands between them.
"The structure gave away?" Ventures Sakura, and they all remain quiet, still ready for action, aware of their surroundings and everything around them.
The screams are still far away, but it's enough for Naruto to grab Hinata and start walking away from the windows. His eyes still glued to the commotion, glancing around every now and then to make sure that whatever was there was not yet here.
"An attack?" Lord Minato looks dumbfounded, and the lords and ladies inside the room whisper around them with the same tone. Nobody aside from Naruto and Sai have moved and it's clear nobody yet believes there is even a chance for an attack to be happening.
"Everyone, gather your things, your guards and leave this place immediately." Naruto's voice resonates within the room, and he breaks the spell. Everyone begins to stand, looking more and more worried by the second.
And then Gaara's One-Tail comes into view, and Naruto can feel a shiver run down his spine. "What the fuck…"
The Beast roars to the sky. His weight is too much for the wood and metal structure under him, which is why every move he makes make the place collapse. The Beast's body is like a gigantic bear made out of sand, with purple linings running through its body like veins. His yellow eyes are surrounded by black and they lock on the people under him.
Naruto has trouble breathing. He wishes to go and help, make Gaara regain control, but there are so many things yet he doesn't know. He can't put Hinata at risk due to his carelessness.
"I'm going to help," his father states and then runs towards the window.
"Sakura!," Naruto shouts, trying to reign control of the situation and start giving the orders they desperately need. But Sakura is already on his father's heels.
Minato throws a kunai in front of him, breaking the glass before jumping out, with Sakura at his back. They disappear into the sea of people who have already started to leave the premises as fast as they can, making the dire situation even worse. Naruto follows his father’s back for a second before losing them completely. And then he turns around and brings Hinata to his side, his arm around her shoulders.
"We need to leave," he orders. Hinata trembles under him and his brain starts working with one goal in mind: getting her out of here.
"Shino, you guide us out of here. Sai, at my back."
Shino's bugs are already buzzing and flying around them and he starts moving immediately after receiving the instruction. Naruto feels Sai glued to their backs and he allows himself a second of relief before moving.
The people pile upon each other in a desperate attempt to escape, but it only makes it harder to do so. Naruto understands Shino's instructions without the need to voice it. He crouches, places his arm behind Hinata's legs and raises her into his arms.
She brings her arms around him as a reflex, her eyes wide and filled with worry.
"It's gonna be all right," he whispers against her head, "it's going to be all right. I got you."
They jump in between the people. Like many others lords and ladies are doing as well, being carried in the arms of the guards they brought. They keep away from each other, still too worried about the source of the attack.
The One-Tail stops roaring and Naruto feels himself stand straighter. He knows this pattern. He looks at the monster and sees it breathing in.
"Take cover!!" He yells, hoping Shino and Sai hear him. He falls to the floor, covers Hinata with his body and raises his hand in front of him, letting the chakra of the Beast pour out.
The One-Tail shoots out balls of pressured air to the people. In no order. The ground trembles, the arena starts falling apart wherever the attack touches and then it stops.
Naruto lets his chakra die out and looks around. There are people splayed out in ways that no living being could withstand, and he brings Hinata closer to him. The arena still stands, but it's a matter of time before the One-Tail pounds it to the ground.
"Shino! Sai!"
Sai jumps next to him, with his scroll on his hand and a bleeding gash at the side of his head. Shino is nowhere to be found. "He'll find us," he tells Sai, who only nods before following again. Shino specializes in tracking, if anyone will be able to find them after being separated will be him… or so Naruto wants to believe.
The screams and now wails of pain fill the air and Naruto feels his senses heightened due to the danger around them. Which is why he stops before the One-Tail even stops screaming.
The Beast gives out an interrupted yell before disappearing under a flash of light.
His father did it.
He did it.
Gaara is okay.
He doesn't realize he's trembling until Hinata brings her head out of his neck and he puts her on the ground, cups her cheek. His fingers can't stop spasming. "Are you hurt?"
Hinata shakes her head no and hugs him, rubbing her head against his chest. Naruto can't help the sigh of relief that leaves his body.
He has to go check on Gaara.
He reaches the ground with Hinata in his arms first. Whatever happened to Gaara can happen again and it's best for Hinata to get out of here.
Sai will take her. Naruto looks around, hoping to see Shino or Sakura coming to him, but only the people jumping down from the stands are running around. The guards with their clients under their arms, looking around in search of danger while they move as fast as they can. There are whimpers and wails of agony around them, but the thunderous racket from before gave way to a sort of calm that only makes Naruto more nervous.
His father must be with Gaara, tending to him. He will not come back until Gaara is fine, and he’s grateful for it. But that means that Sakura won’t leave his side either and if Shino doesn’t come back soon only Sai will be there to protect Hinata. And taking the current events into consideration, Naruto fails to feel comfortable without sending at least two guards with her.
He takes too much time thinking. It’s the first thing that comes to mind as the tremors come back again and the noise escalates around them. It’s terrifying, the sight before him. Aside from Gaara’s, he has never seen another Beast on the loose. Wouldn’t even think he would ever do so in his lifetime. And yet…
The Five-Tails stands now before him, a horse-like Beast with white fur extending from its face to its five tails. The stands are already in shambles so the moment it appears, his hoofs start stomping in an attempt to stabilize itself.
The wave of dust and air that moves to them leaves Naruto with no time at all, and his only reaction is to cocoon Hinata in his arms and throw himself to the ground, hoping no debris falls to them.
The second the trembling settles they are running away. Naruto coughs as the particles latch to his lungs and he worries whether Hinata is having a hard time breathing as well, but he refuses to stop now. First they need to get out of here.
The dust makes everything harder to see and Sai tries his best to make a way for him to go through, moving people out of their way. They move faster than almost everyone on the ground and yet they are still inside when that distinct trembling happens again.
Naruto knows what’s happening before he even turns around. Somehow, his senses catch onto his surroundings before his brain can have a chance. He puts Hinata on the ground, looks for her face.
There are tears going down her cheeks and he doesn’t know whether it’s because she’s scared or because the dirt around her is irritating her eyes.
It doesn’t really matter.
He raises her head, cups her cheeks with his hands while his thumbs wipe her tears. She locks eyes with him, “Stay close to Sai.”
Hinata frowns at him, confused, but  Naruto doesn’t have the time to explain, so he pushes her towards her guard, who is already right behind her.
Naruto smirks, he catches on quick.
Sai, like never before, latches onto Hinata’s wrist and mid-section to keep her from moving, as she tries to reach for him. “My lord-” she calls, but Naruto walks backwards with growing intensity.
He catches her struggling with Sai, who remains still as a statue. And as if on cue, the Six-Tails gurgles to the sky. Slimy and gooey, the slug-like Beast stands behind him too. Naruto can’t find any explanation for what’s happening. He just fears-
“Naruto!!” Hinata cries and Naruto can feel his heart squeezing. He forces himself to keep on walking. Not now. She has to leave and he has to put distance between them.
Whatever is happening, it’s targeting Beast Tamers. And if there is any pattern to this.
-he fears he’s next.

please forgive me if this is rough. i been outta the writing game for a minute. enjoy!
7:30 am.
The obnoxious ring of my alarm disturbs my peaceful sleep. I groan and move the blankets off my legs, stretching my arms to the ceiling. After my morning stretch I walk to my bathroom and turn the water to the hottest it can go before stripping my pajamas off. I quickly step in the shower, welcoming the warmth on my skin. I let out a sigh as I felt all the tension from my restless night glide down the drain. After a good 15 minutes I finally muster the strength to step out and wrap my towel around myself. I finally dry off and go to my closet to pick out an outfit for the day.
My eyes scan the closet before finally landing on a black pinstripe blazer dress with a zipper slit on the thigh, a thick belt around my waist with a chain in the front, and some knee high boots with black beret. After getting dressed I started on my hair and makeup. I went for a natural but full beat with my favorite pair of falsies and put my hair in a simple French braid down my back. I walked out to meet my roommate Carly.
“Good morning sleeping beauty” I says, she acknowledges me with the wave of her hand and walks back to her room as I smile and start making my matcha latte
I boil some water and grab the oat milk from the fridge. After making my latte I settle on some Oreo cereal for breakfast. I glance up and see my roommate exiting her room, looking ready for the day.
“Whatcha got planned for the day?” Carly asks, I shrug and look at her casually
“I might have a meeting to discuss signing with Arista, and making my own album” I comment casually, watching her eyes widen with excitement
“Are you fucking kidding me right now? Is David hiding somewhere with his camera?” Carly replies, I shake my head and watch her eyes fill with excited tears
“Baby!!! We have to tell everyone” she exclaims, I shake my head and cross my arms in an X shape
“We will tell them when I finish the meeting, I don’t wanna jinx myself” I whine, she nods understandingly
“Alright I should get going, let me know where you guys are so we can meet up after. You can ONLY tell Erin. I’ll see you later” I say, grabbing my work bag and keys from the counter
After a nerve wracking drive to the office I finally arrived. I take a deep breath and walk into the building where an assistant meets me. We take the elevator to a conference room.
We finally finished the hour long meeting. I brought a friend, who happened to be a lawyer to look over my contract before signing it. I shook their hands and said we would let them know in a few hours. After our meeting my friend and I headed out to get some boba and take a look at the contract. I quietly drank my black milk tea and sent a few texts to my friends.
“Looks pretty good, initial here and here... ok and just put your signature here” She said, I nodded signing and initialing away
They called the label and let them know we had signed the contract. My friend went and dropped off the contract while I headed to David’s. When I opened the door I noticed almost everyone was here, except for Jeff and Scott. I took my shoes off and quietly headed into the house.
“Soo.. what’s the verdict?” Carly asked, everyone looked to me in confusion
“Signed, and I’ll be starting my music journey with Arista today” I yell, my friends jump up in celebration and crowd around me
“We celebrating tonight bitches” Zane exclaims, and at this point who cares that it’s a Monday morning and they’ll most likely forget tonight
“Make sure you guys invite Jeff, and we’ll get Sage so drunk she can tell HIM how horny he makes her” Carly says, prompting David to take out his camera again and makes Carly repeat it
“God I tell Carly ONE time that I would get Jeff crush my head between his biceps and suddenly I’m being crucified for being horny” I retort, earning loud laughs from everyone else
“Tell David what you told me last night, after seeing Jeff’s insta post” Carly commands with a wide smile, I sigh and look right at David so I’m not looking straight into the camera lens
“Allegedly when I was a little litty last night, I was stalking his instagram and I saw the picture of him spraying water on himself in your merch… and allegedly I said that I would let him knock my cervix into my lungs and I would apologize for simply being too weak to handle it” I whispered, but everyone heard me anyways and as if on cue the devil himself walked in through the front door
“Jeff come listen to this” Jason says, showing the footage he recorded of me saying what I just said, I stood there in shock, Jeff quickly turned to me and smirked
“Come here baby” Jeff says, throwing me over his shoulder and carrying me to a bedroom while our friends laughed
“Finally, I’m getting the dick I deserve” I yell, Jeff puts me down gently after we round the corner
“Also Todd told me we’re celebrating for you, what happened?” He asks, I tell him the news and he lifts me up again
Jeff and I had been close from the minute we met, it really felt like I met my platonic soulmate to be completely honest. We’re always jokingly flirting with each other for the vlogs and if I’m not with the girls I’m usually with Jeff. Although, lately he’s been too busy to hang out or workout together, on the contrary he’s always free for David and the rest of our friends but when I want to hang out one on one there’s always something. It felt nice, just being the two of us. But alas, as soon as he finished the hug he waltzed right back to our other friends.
“Yea I’ve been doing good, how about you?” I mumble to myself, walking back to our friends as we talk about what to do until the rest of our friends are free to go out for the night
Natalie, Zane, David, and I decided to go somewhere and film some stuff and have a little photoshoot while we were at it. We took some videos of us fucking around in the parking lot of some mall. Zane decided to provide some commentary for the vlog as Nat and I took pictures.
“Look at these whores, won’t take no fucking pictures with me. I’m SAgE anD i’M a FaMoUS MuSICiAn, FuCK YALl” Zane yells, I hand my phone to Nat and walk over to David’s Tesla, grabbing the small paintball gun in the trunk
“Fuck with me again little bitch” I said, walking up to him and shooting him two times in the leg with the paintball gun, he cussed me out on the floor while the three of us laughed our asses off
“Alright let’s get going so we can collect everyone before we go out... or we could have it at  David’s house so I don’t have to worry about flashing my ass to random people?” I ask, making puppy eyes at  David as he reluctantly give in
“Fine, but you’re helping clean up after” He says, I nod eagerly as the four of us pile into the Tesla
“I’ll let Suzy and Jonah know, everyone else will probably be at the house anyways” Natalie says, quickly typing on her phone
We arrive at David’s house as the sun is setting and we start getting ready for everything. Toddy and Jeff go on an alcohol run, while the rest of us started setting everything up. Natalie and Zane go to get more solo cups and some extra things. I’m helping David put away some valuable things while everyone makes the house presentable and work on making it Zane and Heath proof, which could be impossible.
“Can I be in control of the music king?” I ask, David rolls his eyes at the horrible nickname and nods I connect to the speaker while pouring shots for everyone with the alcohol we have at the house
After I was done pouring the shots the ones who went to run errands came back and we all huddled in the kitchen. I put the down the bottle and we all hold our glasses up.
“May we all get absolutely plastered, and some of incredibly high. Maybe both? And may Zane stay away from the hospital for one fucking night, amen” I yell, we all cheers and take shots
After smoking with some of our friends I go back in the house and find it absolutely packed with people. David is multitasking with taking disposables and filming an incredibly drunk Zane and Ilya. And above all the talking and yelling I hear the familiar beat.
‘Do it, baby. Stick it, baby. Move it, baby. Lick it, baby...’
I scream and run to the make shift dance floor, my girls behind me as I start grinding on Corinna as she smacks my ass. I’m screaming the words, someone hands me a drink and I slowly start to feel myself get loose. Everyone making a circle around Corinna, and myself. We switch and I fall on the couch while Corinna gives me a lap dance.
“PUSSY SO GOOD HE GOT MY NAME ON IT” We scream, grabbing each other as  Zane somehow finds himself on my lap too
After the song I make my way to the bar with Zane and Heath, my favorite drinking buddies. After getting a lot more alcohol in me than my entire being can tolerate we go back and start dancing. I was swaying to the music, occasionally dancing with our friends when I feel someone grab me.
“What do you think you’re doing? Shaking your ass for everyone to see” the faint linger of that Staten Island accent makes me smile, but it quickly changes to a frown when my brain registers the words he said
“What do you think Jeffreyyy? I’m-” “Zane what the fuck” I turn and see our friends huddled around the bathroom
“Watch out everyone” Natalie says, backing up and taking a running start towards the door and successfully kicks it down
“Zane why didn’t you say anything? We thought you were dead man” Jeff laughs, I walk into the bathroom and laugh at the sight
After a few more hours the strangers have left the house and our friend group is still going strong. I quietly nurse my water that Jeff forced me to have. David taking some disposables of the rare quiet moment.
“Zane.. I bet you won’t try and fight Jeff right now” I slur, my world still spinning from the poison in my body
“For what?” Zane replies, I smirk and look at Jeff
“Dude I’ll straight up kiss whoever wins” I say, David immediately bringing his vlog camera out and quickly explaining the situation
“Wait I wanna fucking get in on this” Ilya says, the three of them getting up... well Zane and Ilya could barely stand let alone fight Jeff, the most sober one here
The three of them start pushing each other, I’m a little too drunk to really understand what was going on. Before I know it Jeff had them both on the ground and was declared the winner
“Sageee... you gotta kiss Jeff” David teases, shoving the camera in my face as I chuckle
“Oh y’all know I wanna do more than kiss. Come here dumb bitch” I say, turning around on the couch as Jeff stabilizes me and plants a kiss right on my lips as our friends scream and jump around. I pull away and David turns his camera off for the moment.
“Can I pleasee have more shots.. Zane, Ilya get your dumbasses up we’re getting more drunk so David has content” I yell, the two of them immediately getting off the floor and walking with me to the kitchen
“David, come here I have a secret to tell you” I yell, stumbling over to meet him halfway
“Closer, closer..... I’m so fucked up”

Emotion Sickness: Diary Entries from Shadow the Hedgehog (Part 1)
Select entries from Shadow’s diary were found and compiled by Sonic (with Shadow’s permission) as an homage to both Shadow’s development and their relationship together. The entries were made between March 2009 and October 2013. This part of the compilation contains the entries made between March 2009 and December 2010.
10:53 PM - 4 March 2009
Hmph. Another day behind me. I crossed paths with Sonic today and he offered to have lunch with me. The request was somewhat flattering, but I turned it down. I don’t really need to eat.
Why is Sonic always so nice to me? It’s a liability to be within ten feet of him at this point, considering how much trouble he gets into. Whatever. I’m better by myself anyway.
5:02 PM - 19 July 2009
Amy visited me today and said she was here on Sonic’s behalf. Don’t know why, but she wanted me to know Sonic was offering to have me over at his place.
Sonic has a permanent home? Who knew?
I thought about it for a bit, but I declined. Again, I don’t understand why Sonic continues to do nice things for me even though I’m the most miserable being on the planet. It’s not that I hate them or anything, but I just can’t get close to anybody else. What if they reject me? What if...
Forget it.
I can’t think about this stuff. I’m going to take a nap. My thoughts are the last thing I need to be with right now.
6:46 PM - 30 November 2009
Wouldn’t you know it, that stubborn blue hedgehog turned up at my door today and again asked me to spend time with him. I was about to just tell him to piss off, but something about this interaction was different. I don’t know what, why, or how, but... it actually sounded appealing this time?
Very hesitantly, I said I’d think about it but don’t expect me to take you up on the offer. He just smiled, said okay, and left.
Maybe I should at least try to be somewhat charitable for once. I called up Rouge and told her about what had happened and she just teased me over it before hanging up. You know, typical Rouge.
But she did tell me that it was ultimately my decision to make.
Hm. I think I might go after all.
12:25 PM - 2 December 2009
Just got back from having breakfast with Sonic. He was actually surprised I showed up. Honestly? I was surprised, too.
I didn’t talk too much, but Sonic... oh boy, Sonic. It’s like he never ran out of things to talk about. He’s smiling the entire time he’s with me, too. It was almost alluring just how much his bright demeanor contrasted with my moody self.
One of the things Sonic talked about was his friends. I was fully ready to just stop him right then and there (it rubs me the wrong way when anybody mentions friendship), but then he told me I was a “good friend” to him.
I asked him if he was serious. Sonic said yes.
In retrospect, it was certainly more eventful than most days. Perhaps little meetups like this would be healthier for me if I did them every once in a while.
3:59 AM - 28 May 2010
I can’t rest. I keep thinking about Sonic.
We’ve been meeting occasionally like I said I should. The longer I’m with Sonic, the more I begin to see in him what I could’ve been.
He’s a caring, generous man with everything going for him. People like him. He has a purpose in life. He’s coolheaded, rational, and valuable to society.
So why on Earth would Sonic be spending time with me, a reprehensibly depressed alien who is so completely worthless and undeserving of care? How could he possibly like me when I don’t even like myself?
I’m tired and tears are pricking at the corners of my eyes. I need to talk to someone in the morning.
1:51 AM - 29 May 2010
I called Rouge and told her about last night. She wasn’t very vocal, but she did offer a little encouragement. She said I don’t get enough sleep and that a little bit of rest would put me at ease for a bit. But I’m still on edge. What does Sonic see in me that I don’t? Or am I just overthinking this? My thoughts are erratic right now, so I’m sorry to anyone reading if this doesn’t make sense.
Ugh.
I can feel tears welling up in my eyes already.
I’m so weak. I’m so pathetic.
Who would ever want to spend time with someone like me?
All I do is brood in the corner of the room all day and be an asshole to everybody. I don’t understand how anybody could be tolerant of me, much less a “friend.”
Yet... I’m still drawn to Sonic. For whatever reason, he’s just so inviting. He’s nice. Too nice.
11:32 AM - 8 August 2010
Over the past few months, Sonic and I have been visiting each other more often, and not much has changed.
From me, at least.
Sonic has been growing even kinder towards me than before. Sometimes, he’ll give me small gifts like a scarf. Other times, he’ll ask me about myself. If I were ready, I would’ve just spilled my true feelings about myself right then and there.
But I wasn’t ready. So I just talked about the very few things I did find enjoyment in. Gardening, space, and Chao. I begged him to never tell anybody about what I said to him, and he looked at me like I had three heads but vowed to keep it a secret anyway.
I just don’t know. Sonic’s a good guy, but... I can’t bring myself to be friendly with him. If I start growing close with people, they’ll just die or leave me and I’ll be heartbroken again just like last time. I can’t go through that again. I’m not strong enough.
I appear tough on the outside. But the truth is, I’m always on the verge of breaking down. My mental state is so volatile and virtually uncontrollable.
Chaos damn it, just get out of my head already!
3:40 PM - 23 December 2010
The holiday season. A time for joy, reminiscing on the past, looking forward to the new year, and exchanging gifts.
For everybody else, that is.
Ever since I came here, I’ve spent every Christmas alone.
All the others have a big gathering at Sonic’s house, having a good time (allegedly). I was never interested in these and I always declined every single invitation I got from Sonic. Yet, like clockwork, he still sends me one every year. Maybe hoping that I’ll change my mind one year.
After a lot of self-reflection over the past year, though, I’m not sure how much more invitations I can reject before Sonic gives up trying.
I crumble in social situations. Interacting with anybody other than Rouge, Omega, or Sonic for more than ten seconds takes an insane amount of willpower.
Something has to give. Either I go for once or they stop trying.
12:48 AM - 24 December 2010
I’ve decided I need to go. Maybe bring one of my Chao if things go wrong. I’m not necessarily doing this because I want to go. In fact, I’d be a lot happier if I didn’t go because at least I know things can’t go wrong if I’m by myself.
But I can’t stop thinking about Sonic and his friends. It drives me crazy.
9:21 PM - 24 December 2010
Party’s tomorrow. Note to self: don’t fuck this up.
11:17 PM - 26 December 2010
How quickly things can change has always amazed me. Tonight proved that.
Everybody was really surprised to see me showing up, but they said they were all grateful I showed up. Sonic, of course, was the first to welcome me, giving me a hug that admittedly felt like a breath of fresh air after so much time alone. Then again, I have a reputation so I needed to act like he was crushing me to death.
I didn’t spend much time talking with other people, though I did exchange some small talk with Rouge. The usual.
As the party grew longer, I found myself being... complimented by others?
Knuckles said he hoped I was “doing well.” Cream gave me a single flower while wishing me a merry Christmas. Tails shyly waved at me (I put on a smile and waved back). Omega said I was “one of the only creatures made of flesh” he trusted.
I’m sorry. Did these people forget who they were talking to?
Dinner was fine, though I was particularly eager about the sweets. Oh, right, I forgot to mention I have a knack for candy. The more you know.
Of course, then it was time for gifts. I swear you could fill the Grand Canyon with the sheer amount of presents under the tree. I guessed that roughly three of those were for me, ready to be mailed to me if I didn’t show up.
So you can imagine my surprise when I saw eight presents being dropped into my lap and all of them reading “To: Shadow.”
We all took turns opening our presents. I had two presents from Amy (a coffee mug and a Chao toy), one present from Espio (a kunai), one present from Tails (a bag of coffee beans), one present from Knuckles (a Kill la Kill DVD) and... three presents from Sonic?!
The first one was classic Sonic stuff. A sweater with the word “faker” sewed on the chest. He thought that one was really funny. I didn’t really care.
The second one was more genuine. A pair of rocket boosters for my shoes. My old ones are just about dead, so this was welcome.
The third one... subverted all expectation. It was a small box that contained a piece of paper. It read:
“Dear Shadow, stay after the party and meet me upstairs when the others leave. Signed, Sonic.”
The others were curious about what Sonic meant by this. Silver joked that I was being sent to the principal’s office.
Eventually, the party came to a close and people left. I went upstairs as Sonic had told me, and there he was sitting on the edge of the bed.
He motioned for me to take a seat next to him. I sat down and asked him what he wanted me for, half-expecting something stupid.
“I understand you haven’t had the easiest life...”
I instantly got up to leave. No way I was sticking around to hear this again.
But Sonic grabbed my arm and yanked me back to the bed, his face now spelling genuine concern.
“...I know you mean well. Sometimes, you do things that we think are dumb but actually turn out to be smart. Other times, you just do dumb stuff. But that’s not the point. The point is, I want you to know that I’m still here for you. I can tell you’re bothered by your thoughts. But the bottom line is that I, and we, care about you. We love you, Shadow. I love you. Please don’t think you’re not worthy of being cared about. We have our ups and downs, but we always work it out eventually, right? I know your thought process works differently than mine. That does not make you any less deserving of respect. My greatest wish is that you would love yourself as much as we love you.”
I was stunned. That bastard. Quickly losing my composure, I began blubbering about how I couldn’t stand the thought of getting close to someone just to lose them again. How I’m so terrified that I will just be manipulated and used by people pretending to be my “friend.”
Sonic told me that he would never go away and that he would never “use” me.
Fuck. Fuck.
Sonic embraced me and I’m embarrassed to admit that I began sobbing as I wrapped my arms around him. I swore to myself that I’d never show any kind of weakness around them.
“It’s okay to cry,” he told me. “Don’t be afraid anymore. I’m here now. I’m here.”
“And I always will be. That’s a promise.”

“I’m not one to complain, but can’t Appa fly any higher?” Sokka called from the back of the saddle.
“I have an idea! Why don’t we all get on your back, and you can fly us to the North Pole?” Aang turned around, sounding rather agitated.
“I’d love to. Climb on, everyone. Sokka is ready for takeoff.” Sokka pointed to his back, shaking his bum at his companions.
“We aren’t even that far, Sokka.” Y/N lay on her back, staring up at the sky and watching the clouds drift.
“Look, we’re all just a little tired and cranky because we’ve been flying for two days straight.” Katara tried to reason.
“And for what? We can’t even find the Northern Water Tribe.” Sokka argued back. “There’s nothing up here.”
Almost as if on cue, a giant shard of ice formed just in front of Appa. Aang yelled, steering the bison away from the hunk of ice.
Y/N, Sokka, and Katara were all holding onto the saddle for dear life as Appa flew away from the forming shards of ice.
The tip of a newly formed iceberg managed to snag one of Appa’s paws, and he was sent spiraling into the cold water below.
Multiple rafts full of water benders came out from behind the large icebergs, freezing Appa in place.
“They’re water benders! We found the water tribe!” Katara exclaimed, looking around.
~.•*✰
“There it is!” Aang stood, pointing at the massive ice walls ahead.
“The Northern Water Tribe.” Katara confirmed, awe written all over her face.
“We’re finally here.” Sokka said, almost in a trance.
“See! I told you Sokka, we were almost there that entire time.” Y/N punched his shoulder playfully, earning snickers and giggles from the boy.
~.•*✰
A raft was soon leading Appa through the icy river, giving all the citizens of the Northern Water Tribe a chance to see the avatar.
As the four kids drifted through the water, Y/N couldn’t help but find herself lost in the beauty of the structures.
Everything was an amazing shade of blue, ice everywhere.
A boat with a young girl, about Y/N’s and Sokka’s age drifted just past them. Y/N was snapped out of her thoughts when Sokka jumped off the saddle, sliding down Appa’s tail.
“This place is beautiful.” Katara pointed out the obvious.
“Yeah, she is.” Sokka mumbles just loud enough to where Y/N could hear.
It hurt quite a bit, seeing her crush fall for yet another girl so quickly. Another girl, that wasn’t her.
The girl in question, however, was breathtakingly beautiful. She had icy white hair, beautiful tanned skin and these beautiful blue eyes.
Y/N understood why he was so entranced by her, but it didn’t hurt any less. Katara must’ve noticed how sour Y/N’s mood had turned, and gave a sympathetic look to her. She shrugged, standing up and plopping down right next to Aang on Appa’s head.
This was going to be a long trip.
~.•*✰
Y/N watched quietly as four members of the water tribe brought out a large platter of food for Appa. She giggled to herself as Appa growled loudly, scaring the four men off.
“Tonight, we celebrate the arrival of our brother and sister from the Southern Tribe.” The Chief motioned the Katara and Sokka. “We are also welcoming a friend from the Earth Kingdom. And they have brought with them someone very special, someone who many of us believed disappeared from the world until now... the avatar.”
Cheers erupted from the citizens surrounding the main table. Aang smiled and waved, the rest of the gaang clapping along.
“We also celebrate my daughters 16th birthday. Princess Yue is now of marrying age.” The Chief stepped aside to welcome the girl who the group saw from earlier. It all made sense to Y/N now. She looked regal because she was royalty. No wonder Sokka likes her and not Y/N.
“Thank you, father. May the great Ocean and Moon spirits watch over us during these troubled times.” She announced, looking over to the members of her tribe.
“Now, Master Pakku and his students will perform!”
Y/N fell silent again. She disconnected, watching lifelessly at the waterbending show before her.
It was embarrassing to her, watching her crush of many months pine after a girl whom Y/N could never exactly compare to.
Before she knew it, the food was served and everybody was digging in. Well, everyone except for Y/N.
“What’re you doing, Y/N/N? Eat! We have all this food now.” Aang pushes her plate closer to her.
“It’s okay, Aang. I’m not hungry.” Y/N pushed the plate back.
“It’s Sokka, isn’t it? That’s why you’ve been oddly quiet since we got here, and why you’re not eating.” Aang lowered his voice, leaning a little closer. Y/N gave a shallow nod, dropping her eyes.
“I’m pathetic. I just want to leave already.” Y/N said. “But you and Katara need a waterbending master. So I’m stuck here with my stupid crush.”
Aang fell silent once again.
Princess Yue walked over and sat beside Sokka, and the dull ache in her chest grew.
“Hi there.” Y/N heard Sokka say. “Sokka, Southern Water Tribe.”
She cringed, listening to how this boy tried to act cool in front of a pretty girl.
“Very nice to meet you.” Yue bowed her head.
“So, uh... you’re a princess, huh?” Sokka attempted to continue to conversation that was already slowly dying. “You know, back in my tribe, I’m kind of like a prince myself.”
“Ha! A prince of what?” Katara scoffed.
“A lot of things! Do you mind? I’m trying to have a conversation here.”
“My apologies, Prince Sokka.” Katara dramatically bowed, sarcasm lacing her voice. Y/N and Aang snicker from beside her.
“So, it looks like I’m gonna be in town for a while. I’m thinking maybe we could... do an activity together?” Sokka asked the princess.
Y/N choked on the piece of bread she was chewing on. Aang lightly patted her back.
Did he really just ask a princess on a date? Right in front of everyone, right in front of me? Y/N thought.
“Do an activity?” Princess Yue asked, and Y/N could tell she was trying not to laugh at the boy.
Sokka stuffed his mouth with food, coughing in the process in attempt to escape the embarrassing conversation he was so eager to continue before.
“Very smooth.” Katara leaned over to her brother.
“I’m heading back to where we’re staying. Anybody need anything? No? Okay, bye.” Y/N stood abruptly, not giving her companions any time to respond before she bowed at the chief and his daughter.
“What’s up with her?” Sokka asked, watching as Y/N scurried off.
“You did just ask out a princess in front of her.” Aang leaned over the table to speak to him.
“So what? It’s not like she likes me, or anything.” Sokka rolled his eyes. Katara and Aang shared a look, before continuing eating the lovely dinner.
~.•*✰
The following day, Aang and Katara made there way to Master Pakku’s waterbending lessons. Y/N stayed at the small house they were given, along with Sokka.
“I really like that princess, you know?” Sokka said for the tenth time in the past five minutes.
“She’s pretty. You deserve someone like her.” Y/N said despite every cell in her body screaming at her to just say she likes him then and there. She was drying off his coat with was soaked because he allegedly tripped into the ice cold river.
“I get to see her tonight.” Sokka said again, tucking his arm underneath his head as he watched Y/N dry off his coat.
She didn’t respond.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” She answered just as quick as the question left his mouth.
“Are you sure?”
“Positive.” Y/N huffed, laying his jacket on the back of a chair. “I’m going for a walk.” She stood, slipping on her own winter coat and walking right out the door.
Part of her hoped he would follow her, pressure her into telling him what was truly wrong. But the door never opened behind her, and her heart broke a little bit more.
~.•*✰
Y/N didn’t return until sundown. She walked on the icy paths back to where her and her friends were staying, smiling warmly at citizens she passed by.
As she approached the bridge that led straight to where the gaang was staying, she saw two figures leaning over the railing. Y/N stopped for a moment, not wanting to interrupt them.
That was, until, one of the figures ran away from the other.
She could feel the anger radiating off of the other person, and she barely had time to register the small wooden carving thrown directly at her.
There was no way the person on the bridge could’ve seen her, the only light available was the moon above. Nonetheless, it smacked her right on the side of her head, and hard.
“Ow..” Y/N groaned, rubbing her temple. She leaned down to inspect what had just hit her, and it looked to be a messy carving of a fish.
~.•*✰
“Y/N! Oh, I’m so glad you’re back. You’ll never guess what happened- oh spirits! What happened to your face?” Aang exclaimed, standing from his place in front of the small fire.
“Somebody threw something at me and now I have a big goose egg on my forehead.” Y/N frowned, unbuttoning her jacket.
“What hit you? It’s already bruised..” Katara trailed off, lightly touching the side of her face. Y/N winced and smacked her hand away.
“Some weird wooden carving thing. I was trying to get up on the bridge but it smacked me right when I turned the corner.” She pulled out the messy carving to show them.
“Oh, Sokka made this. Maybe he dropped it and somebody tried to throw it in the water.” Katara took it from Y/N, inspecting it.
“Oh, right. Made it for Yue. How could I have forgotten.” Y/N’s voice began to waver.
“He’s just a stupid teenage boy, Y/N. Don’t worry about it, he’ll come around.” Katara consoled her friend.
Aang was confused as to what Katara was implying. “Come around to what? Katara, what is Sokka going to come around to?”
~.•*✰
Y/N was already fast asleep when Sokka returned. Her sleep was light, though, and she could faintly hear them talk about warrior training.
As Aang listened to Sokka ramble about Princess Yue, something clicked in his head.
Y/N likes Sokka. Sokka likes Yue.
This explains Y/N distancing herself from everyone and disappearing every couple of hours since they arrived.
He thought for a moment, about how he could’ve missed this, even after consoling her at the feast. And how Sokka was so oblivious to Y/N’s feelings.
Aang understood completely why Y/N was suddenly standoffish and jealous.
He would just let it be for now, though.
~.•*✰
Y/N had fallen into a deeper sleep, and found herself trapped in one of the worst scenarios her brain could’ve come up with.
After Aang and Katara left to train, Sokka had decided to get some rest along with Y/N. He was awoken by the small cries, and the thrashing of a sleeping bag across the room.
He sat up slowly, rubbing his eyes and looking around for the source of the noise.
Then he spotted Y/N, whipping her head back and forth, her eyes squeezed shut.
“Y/N- hey, wake up- Y/N, it’s a dream-“ Sokka attempted to wake her, shaking her lightly. She woke with a gasp, sitting up so quickly he was sure she was going to have whiplash.
“You were having a nightmare.” Sokka kneeled by her sleeping bag, softly rubbing her back up and down.
“Spirits, I’m sorry.” She whispered out, not meeting his eyes.
“Do you want to go for a walk? Maybe it’ll help clear your head. I noticed you haven’t been getting much sleep, maybe it’ll tire you out a bit.” He offered, standing up. She nodded lightly, slipping out of the sleeping back.
Sokka handed her the soft winter coat she brought, slipping on his own right after.
They walked silently through the icy paths, eyes stinging from the cold breeze.
“What was your nightmare about?” Sokka asked once they reached a bridge, overlooking the entrance of the Northern Water Tribe.
“Don’t want to talk about it.” Y/N mumbled, leaning over the ledge to prop her head in her hand and closing her eyes.
“You know you can talk to me, right?” Sokka’s voice almost sounded offended, like he knew Y/N was holding back.
She hummed lightly, nodding with her head still in her hands.
“I know you don’t like Yue.” Sokka said after a few moments of silence, letting out a breath he seemed to be holding for hours.
“Why would I not like her? She’s a princess, the nicest one I’ve ever met. I don’t have a reason to not like her.” Y/N furrowed her brows, turning to look at him.
“I bet it’s because you want to hang out with me, but I’ve been hanging out with her.” Sokka said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. He was right,
Y/N did want to hang out with Sokka. And as much as she wanted to hate Yue for stealing him away, the princess didn’t know. Y/N was jealous, and it was bad.
“Don’t flatter yourself. I would much rather hang out with her than you.” Y/N smirked playfully, punching him lightly in the shoulder. He laughed, leaning away from her touch.
This is nice, she thought. Seeing him laugh because of her was a really nice feeling.
“Are you okay, though? You haven’t been yourself since we got here.” Sokka said, putting his head in his hands in a similar manner to her.
“Yeah. Not used to being in the freezing cold all the time.” Y/N gazed at the reflection of the moon in the icy water.
“We should go back.” Sokka’s voice snapped her out of the trance she was in. She muttered a soft ‘okay’, following him back down the stairs and to the building they were staying in.
~.•*✰
Y/N could barely comprehend what happened the following day.
Katara challenged the waterbending master to a duel. Y/N knew what was coming and was preparing to console her friend.
But, Katara ended up making an impact on the entire tribe. It was revolutionary, the way she singlehandedly destroyed a major gender norm and tradition.
On the other hand, both Sokka and Katara learned about how their grandmother ran from an arranged marriage. Aang and Y/N were beyond confused, and the day had barely started.
When Yue was brought to tears about the realization, Aang didn’t hesitate to tell Sokka to go after her.
It hurt Y/N to see him care for her so dearly, knowing he would never treat her that way.
The moon was high as Yue sat on the bridge her and Sokka first talked at.
“What do you want from me?” Yue asked through years as Sokka stepped up next to her.
“Nothing. I just want you to know, I think you’re beautiful. And I never thought a girl like you would even notice a guy like me.” Sokka said quietly, avoiding her gaze.
“You don’t understand.”
“No, no. See, that’s the thing. I think I do understand now. You’re a princess and I’m... I’m just a southern peasant.”
“No, Sokka-“ Yue tried to reason, but he cut her off before she could finish her sentence.
“It’s okay. You don’t have to say anything. I’ll see you around, okay?” Sokka turned to walk away before Yue grabbed his arm and pulled him into a kiss.
Y/N watched below in tears. She didn’t know how she kept finding herself watching them together, it just kept happening. What she didn’t hear, was what came after the kiss.
“Oh, I shouldn’t have done that. I’m engaged! And somebody else is in love with you...” Yue’s cheeks took on a red hue underneath the moonlight.
“Somebody is in love with me? What are you taking about?” Sokka’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion, completely forgetting about what was happening moments ago.
“I see the way that girl in your group looks at you. I can’t do that to someone else. I’m sorry. She’s pretty, you deserve her, not me. We can’t see each other anymore. I’m sorry.” Yue’s voice broke as tears formed in her eyes again. Similar to the night before, she ran off, leaving Sokka alone on the bridge.
Y/N... in love with him? He couldn’t wrap his head around it. Then, it clicked. Sokka knew why she was acting weird.
He couldn’t just march right up to her and say he loved her, too. It wouldn’t be a complete lie, considering he had always thought she was a beautiful soul and a strong fighter since the day she joined them on their journey. Sokka was conflicted. He was just kissing Yue underneath the moon, but now he could only think of Y/N, and how miserable she must be, having nothing to do but watch and hear Sokka pine over a princess.
He needed to do something.
~.•*✰
The attack on the tribe was frightening. Y/N didn’t know her place, where to fight. She barely had the suitable weapons for the environment she was in, and she was badly outnumbered.
Escaping to the oasis, she spotted Yue and Katara. It started off as such a beautiful day, the sun shining bright above the tribe, making the ice glitter.
The snow turned black in the blink of an eye. Sokka and Yue came barreling down on Appa, rushing back to the tribe. It was frightening, seeing the once sparkling fountains turn a musty grey.
But, here Y/N was, rushing to the two girls in the warm oasis, moonlight leading her on the path.
“Katara!” Y/N called, sliding as fast as she could along the walls. She crossed the bridge, skidding to a stop when she saw both Yue and Katara standing over Aang. “Oh- Princess,” Y/N bowed clumsily, so out of breath she could barely still herself.
“No need for formalities, Y/N.” Yue said kindly.
“What’s going on? We’re being attacked bad out there!” She exclaimed, pointing over the entrance wall to the oasis.
“The Avatar is communing with the spirits. He’s looking for help.” Yue stated, looking almost solemnly down at Aang.
“He’s fine. We just need to make sure his body doesn’t move.” Katara slid down the base of a tree.
Y/N gave out a groan, feeling just as helpless as before. “He’ll be fine, Y/N. He got out all those people back at that village because of Hei Bai, remember?” Katara reassured her as she sat down next to her, staring at the back of Aang’s head.
“Maybe we should get some help.” Yue began to walk over to one of the bridges. “No, he’s our friend. We are perfectly capable of protecting him.” Katara stated, giving her a hopeful smile.
“Well, aren’t you a big girl now.” A scary familiar voice called from the other side of the oasis. “No...” Katara said, as if it would simply make the figure walking towards them go away.
“Yes.” The banished prince said, stopping at the end of one of the bridges. “Hand him over and I won’t have to hurt you.”
Katara readied herself, getting into a fighting position as Yue ran to most likely get help. Y/N jumped up, putting herself in front of Aang in a poor attempt to guard him. She was defenseless, all her weapons no match against the firebender.
Zuko began throwing punches of fire to Katara. She fought them off gracefully, using water from around the oasis pond to burn off each hit. Y/N drew one of her swords, readying herself as the two fought closer and closer towards her.
“You again, huh? I thought you would’ve backed off the last time you fought me.” Zuko snarled, bringing back a painful memory of Y/N’s, when he burned the side of her neck and part of her shoulder. The scar was faded now, just discolored, but still noticeable.
Y/N swung her sword out of instinct, fighting him off of both her and Aang. Katara brought out a thick pillar of water, slamming Zuko right in the middle of the chest, throwing him back from her friends. “I see you’ve learned a new trick. But I didn’t come this far to lose to you-“ just as he was about to throw another punch, Y/N ran and tackled him, pinning him and his arms to the ground.
“Do you ever stop monologuing, like ever?” Y/N scoffed, keeping her grip tight despite his skin growing almost unbearably hot. He growled loudly at her, trying to fight her off, but it was no use.
Just as Katara was settling down, Zuko managed one hand out of Y/N’s grasp, throwing her so hard towards a wall. She slammed into it, knocking her out. As she rolled onto the grass, Katara watched as blood began to seep from her ears.
Katara couldn’t do anything. She needed to protect Aang, but she was watching hopelessly as her two defenseless and unconscious friends lay far away from her. Zuko began fighting Katara again, slipping past her with just enough time to grab Aang and escape.
“You rise with the moon. I rise with the sun.” Zuko said, holding Aang by the collar of his shirt. Katara watched, all hope dying from her eyes as he dragged her best friend away. She looked around, locking her eyes back on Y/N. The sun began to rise, lighting the injuries she had endured with the small fight.
“Y/N, hey- come on, wake up.” Katara shook her, helping her sit up. “Where’s Aang? Where’s Zuko?” Y/N said after mumbling something incoherent, blinking from the rising sun.
“He took him. They’re both gone.” Katara’s voice was wobbly. Appa landed just as Y/N was registering what had happened before she was slammed against the ice. “What happened? Where’s Zuko?” Sokka jumped off Appa’s head, helping Yue down too.
“He took Aang. He took him right out from under me.” Katara looked at the ground in defeat. “Y/N! You’re bleeding! Oh, no...” Yue drawled, rushing up to the girl to look at the side of her face.
“Are you okay? What did Zuko do?” Sokka did the same as Yue, inspecting her for any further injuries. “He slammed her against a wall just when she had him pinned down. Then he took Aang.” Katara had tears in her eyes.
“Where did they go?” Sokka asked, more to himself than the three girls and flying lemur beside him.
~.•*✰
Y/N was devastated. The moon spirit was dead, Tui and La were no more. The sky was dark, everything surrounding them was now black and white. The moon was gone.
She could see the pain in Yue’s eyes. After being told her life story, Y/N felt so guilty for not protecting the koi spirits as much as she could’ve.
Katara screamed after Aang as he stepped into the pond. Y/N held her back, allowing him to commune with the spirits again and avenge the fallen spirit. Waterbenders bowed down to the water spirit that was protecting their tribe.
~.•*✰
Iroh solemnly placed the dead koi back into the pond.
“It’s too late. It’s dead.” Katara leaned over to look at the spirit. Iroh’s face lit up with an idea, and he looked over to Yue.
“You have been touched by the moon spirit. Some of its life is in you.”
“Yes, you’re right... it gave me life. Maybe I can give it back.” Yue spoke softly, her voice contrasting against the silence that filled the oasis.
“No!”
“Yue, no!” Sokka and Y/N called at the same time. Sokka reached for her hand, trying to pull her back.
“You can’t do this, Princess.” Y/N pleaded.
“You don’t have to do that.” Sokka tried to tell her.
“It’s my duty, Sokka.” “I wont let you! Your father told me to protect you!”
“I have to do this.” She walked, her hand slipping from Sokka’s grasp. Yue delicately placed her hands atop the fish, letting the life it gave her pass back through to it.
The bright light went out just as quickly as it shone. Yue fell limp, one last breath passing through her lips. Sokka caught her just before she hit the ground, and Y/N had to cover her mouth to stop the sobs.
“She’s gone. She’s gone.” Sokka found his voice, hugging Yue’s body close to him.
“Oh, spirits.” Katara whimpered, hugging Y/N close. It was as if all of them had lost a close friend, even though they had all only known her a few days.
Y/N turned to the sound of soft humming, seeing Sokka’s arms now empty and a puzzled look on his face. She wiped the tears from her eyes, sniffling in confusion.
The fish, now alive, was placed back into the pond, allowing the water to glow a bright white. A misty figure rose from the water, and took the shape of a beautiful young woman that Y/N recognized as Yue. She looked ethereal, practically glowing.
“Goodbye, Sokka. I’ll always be with you. Don’t be afraid of loving the right person, ever.” Her voice echoed across the oasis. Y/N watched quietly as her spirit traced the side of his face, before turning to where she and Katara stood.
“Thank you for showing me kindness. I’ll miss you all dearly.”
Her presence was gone as Sokka looked where she once was. Y/N couldn’t feel any more guilty, walking up to Sokka and pulling him into a hug. He cried quietly into her shoulder, squeezing her so tight she thought he might break one of her ribs.
Sokka has just lost another girl he loved, and he wouldn’t be letting this girl go anytime soon.
~.•*✰
Team Avatar now flew on the back of Appa, riding silently as the sun rose once again.
They all recounted the previous couple of days’ events, from the Fire Nation attack to losing a Princess.
Y/N hadn’t left Sokka’s side, and was there whenever he needed comfort. She had come to terms that he needed time, and that he wasn’t going to be okay for a while.
Little did she know, that his feelings for her has resurfaced since they left. Sokka was grieving, of course, and didn’t want to dump his feeling into Y/N in fear of her not taking him seriously. But Yue’s words stuck with him, and he truly wasn’t going to be afraid of opening himself back up for love.
Weeks passed, and he was growing closer to her every night they camped out. Katara picked up on his feelings, and didn’t hesitate to tell Aang.
The first night he kissed her was under the stars. The two teenagers were stargazing, Y/N telling Sokka everything she knew about each constellation in the sky.
She turned her face to find he wasn’t looking at the sky with her, but rather studying her profile. Before she knew it, he surged forward and pressed his lips to hers. Y/N barely hesitated before kissing him back.
“You will be my always forever.”
A whisper, a promise in the wind. And he meant it.

dear no one [q.kun]
⇾ pairing : qian kun x reader
⇾ summary : love is worth the wait, especially when it’s your favourite food store aunty’s grandson
⇾ wc : 2k
⇾ genre/warnings : implied soulmate! au,inspired by Tori Kelly’s Dear No One | mild swearing
+if i may add,i want to dedicate this to @nctream who has always been the writer whom i admired for the longest time.thank you for being the sweetest person i came across this hellsite, though i never actually communicate with you but you’re so incredible and i hope you know that.much love!
Tumblr media
All your life, you’ve wanted nothing more than to meet the one,the soulmate who was allegedly entwined with your soul before your time on Earth even began ticking.Everyone has someone,it was just a matter of time before you meet them. But that was also exactly why you were impatient, counting down daily on the crossed-out boxes of your yearly calendar, most of your friends had met theirs by now. Some married, some even with kids---or just happily dating. All but you.
It sucked really.
Going to work in the wretched company every day was like a punch to the guts when everyone around you was all about love.Mrs Kim on the marketing department always showed off her vacation photos--it was always jolly and exciting, grinning faces of her twin boys seemed to mock you for your lack of relationship. And there was also Mr Lee,a young intern who was at least 4 years younger than you but had already found his one and only.
And how about Mr Park, the old bumbling guy nearing his retirement age?His sweet plump wife never forgets to pack him lunch, constantly reminding him to wear his tweed coat in case he catches a cold in the draughty security room.
What about you?No one to come home to,no one packing your lunch or was there a partner for holidays.Twenty-three pushing twenty-four with no felicity in love.Lady Luck never smiled at you much, you could say.Maybe it’s your resting bitch face,it could probably scare off the fortune bearing deity and leave her quivering in her robes.
The day was cold as it is,heavy rain started its relentless onslaught on the wooden roof of the rickety store off the main road. You were craving hot soup after work and thought it would be a good idea to drive off course to visit the dear old lady who ran the shop on her own.She was an amiable creature, forever ready to offer a radiant smile that let her old beauty trickle through. The granny would probably be one of the few people you were genuinely nice to,which explains your big chunk of discount every time you stopped by.
But it wasn’t a good idea of course.Nothing you ever did was a good idea.
Your engine couldn’t start up after running in the rain for your car.Other than damaging the leather seats of your vehicle, your heels sunk deep into the slushy mud and broke right when you yanked upwards to get it out.Groaning in frustration, your fingers latched onto the tresses of your wet hair, the half-cracking nail getting caught between them. You forgot to cut them last night, and now it had turned its head back to bite you in the arse.
The you that made your way back into the shop shocked the small-framed lady, your disheveled appearance a huge contrast to the sleek you that had left the store a few minutes ago.You probably gave her little heart the dose of pump she never needed.
“Dear, what happened?”She exclaimed, scurrying over to you with two thick towels. “You’ll have to dry off,or you’ll be sick!”
She sat you down on the chair behind the counter, while you attempted to shield your ratty image from the prying eyes of her customers. It didn’t really work though, they still locked glances on you, curious and hushed gossip brewing among the group of malevolent looking ladies who look upon you with their beady eyes.
“Come,”She urged, ushering you towards the baby blue curtains that led into the kitchen, maybe. There was a “STAFF ONLY” hanging above the entrance, and the sound of pans clanging gave it away.
“Qian Kun!”Her frail voice shrieked in Mandarin, “Qian Kun,where are you,you lazy boy,”Tugging you by the arm,she led you further into the cooking area. The smell of cooking was making your full stomach rumble again, and you once again longed for the hot herbal soup with noodles. “Are you on your phone again?”
“I’m not lazy!”Was the reply.A fairly built man emerged out of nowhere, eyebrows furrowed in confusion when his eyes rested on your straggly form. “Who’s this? The new cashier?”He queried, wiping his wet hands on the rag by the table.
You couldn't answer, your usually sharp tongue felt prickly and numb. You only stared back absent-mindedly,but he looked about as enamoured by you like you had been by him.
You knew the old lady told him something, and with the way she was yelling at him,you figured he was too zoned out to concentrate. Both of you tore your gazes away from each other when his grandmother reached up to his broad shoulders to give him a good shake.
“You never listen to me.” She grumbled, huffing indignantly. “All I told you to do is to lend them something to wear, and drop them back.”
The granny gave Kun a small shove, “Naughty boy,and you were so cute back then.”She muttered, retying her apron hastily and hurrying away to wait on the unattended counter.
“I’m still cute now.”He mumbled, looking sheepish in front of you. “I-uh-I apologise, that was embarrassing.”
“No worries.”You let out a small giggle, waving his comment off. “Your grandmother is cute.”
The corners of his mouth pulled up in an amused smile, while he gestured for you to follow him. “I hope you can fit into my granny’s clothes, they are a little old-fashioned but I think you can make it work.”
The door behind the pantry led up to a stairway of wooden steps, and then into a fairly warm lounge. There was a small couch, and a bed accompanied with a shelf of books and board games. You supposed that this could be their resting place of some sort when they closed temporarily for the day, lunch break, or whenever someone feels a little out of it.
“This place looks really comfortable.”You remarked, shifting your black button-up from sticking onto your skin.It clung on like leeches, making this whole ordeal more unpleasant than it already is.The nail was giving you excruciating pain, the shard of the broken end digging vehemently into your fingertips.
“It is,my granny made sure it’s the best condition so all the employees would feel comfy here.” Kun rummaged in the closet to the left of the bed, fishing out a pair of loose black pants and a plain white tee. “Here, she didn’t leave any shirts here, but I hope you’re okay with mine.”
You nodded thankfully, reaching out to take them from him.The shirt smelled nice, your nose picking up on the lavender-scented detergent wafting from the material.
“Then I’ll drive you home?” The warm tone of his voice felt homely, sending hot waves across your body, making you feel like a lightheaded teenager talking to their crush for the first time, tongue heavy with nerves. But yet at the same time, the attraction that bloomed in your chest felt more matured and controlled than the seventeen-year-old you,age muffling the lovesick squeals that you would’ve let out when you’re alone in your room.
You had felt something when you first landed eyes on him,a familiar feeling stemming that made it impossible to wound your mind around.Maybe it was your affection deprived self that was being delusional, and it would pass like one of your many fleeting crushes.
But you couldn’t help but let your mind wander, thinking about what if he was the one you’ve been waiting for?
+
If there was a chance to hit the pause button, you would, in half a heartbeat. The quiet fragments of conversation shared brought you a sense of ease that you’ve never felt in a long time, with white noises and soft tunes of guitar strumming playing from the car radio was almost ethereal. The drizzle of the rain incorporated flavour to the moment like the topping to your favourite dessert,it was the perfect addition that completed the time shared.
“I’ll drop by tomorrow to return the clothes.”You said, unbuckling the seatbelt as he stopped in the lobby of your apartment complex.
“Alright,I guess I’ll see you tomorrow again?”Kun smiled, the kind that made your organs go mushy and all gooey, like someone stuck a ladle in you and began to stir aggressively.
“For sure!Thank you for the lift.” You limped out of the car slowly, careful to not cause more impairment to your shoes. You didn’t fancy going up the elevator looking like someone ran you over with a truck, but there wasn’t much of an option.
All you could think of that night were Qian Kun and his calloused fingers, deep timbre voice and gentle smiles.Maybe you were going crazy, but again, there wasn’t much of an option either.
+
“You seem very happy today.” Mrs Kim from the marketing team mentioned, the cheerful grin almost blinding you.You couldn’t help but spot the striking resemblance of the smile to her sons. Now,it suddenly appeared more kind and less scornful than you thought, and you felt a little bad for always being grouchy towards her.You realised it was nothing but your loneliness coming into play, and you would even admit that you were envious of her happy family life. “Had a great day yesterday?”
“Not really,no,”You told her. “But I guess it wasn’t all that bad.”
So the tales of yesterday’s misfortunes came pouring out of you, from the dreaded engine to the antagonising broken nail,Mrs Kim was more than shocked to see the unconscious tug of your lips upwards.
“And you’re still smiling after all that?”She laughed. “I’m gonna say that you met someone.”
Your eyes widened a bit, trying to cough it off. “I didn’t!It was just the store owner’s grandson.”
“So there is someone?”Mrs Kim waggled her eyebrows at you. “You cannot hide from me,child. That’s the face of an infatuated person.”
+
The bell jingled when you pushed open the glass door.Stepping in,you opened your mouth to greet the granny like usual, but was met with an unknown face gaping at you.It was a boy, around a few years younger, round marble eyes curious yet welcoming. His booming tone greeted you,far too much enthusiasm for your liking.
“Hello, welcome! What would you like today, miss? We have chicken noodle soup for today’s special and--,”
“Lucas, please stop talking so loudly.”Kun’s voice reverberated from behind the thin curtains. “You’re gonna scare all the customers on your first day.”
“I’m here to see Kun.”You spoke to the giant of a human, glancing swiftly at the kitchen entrance, slightly intimidated by his tall stature. He gave you a quick once-over,looking a bit confused.
“Are you his girlfriend?”He questioned, shooting you a broad smirk. “Kun ge is so lucky,I’m--”
“Lucas, what’s taking so long?”Kun appeared again like the first time you met him, drying his damp hands on a small rag. “Oh!”
“Oh,indeed.”Lucas said, mischief written all over his face. “Is this your girlfriend, gege?Should I let granny know about this?”
Kun scowled at him, murmuring something along the lines of ‘if you don’t shut up,I’ll make sure you don’t have a job by the end of today.’
“Hey.”
You passed him the neatly packed parcel, “I’ve washed everything.Thank you again for being so kind to me.”
“I say this calls for a celebration.” Lucas interrupted, peeking from behind the cash register. “Kun,remember that sushi place you wanted to try out?The one near the local university.”
Kun hummed, “What celebration?”
“That someone is finally into you for the first time in twenty-four years? You should appreciate this effort made by this very beautiful individual.”
“Would you kindly shut the fuck up?”Kun hissed, the frown intensifying.
“Well,if you need someone to go with,I know a person who would very much like to.”You interjected, growing more bashful by the second.
“Great! Now you two settle between yourselves.I’ve got work to do!”Lucas said brightly, darting away.
Kun smiled, tucking his phone away in his pocket, glittering irises not leaving yours.
“I’ll call you.” He promised, and somewhere in you just knew he would.
And as you made your way out of the store, the keen sense in your being told you that something very special was about to begin.
Good things truly do come to those who wait, after all.

Prompt from @spiderlondon: "Entrapta starting to feel so much pressure from everyone in her kingdom that she breaks down crying. I could see hordak snarling at her subject and/or hug her to his chest until she calms down some"
Politics had never been Entrapta’s thing. Way back when, her parents programmed a pair of AIs to mimic their own decision making process, and the small nation of Dryl was left to it after their demise. Princess Entrapta had never learned their laws, or the law-making process, or the judiciary system, or really anything that princesses were allegedly supposed to do. There were the bots and there was probably a council of living people to account for those they represented, and Entrapta had never been informed if there was a problem with that.
Apparently, sometime after joining with the Horde, the AIs had been dismantled. A part of her grieved them, the last pieces of her biological parents. The ones she’d constructed were destroyed in a lab accident years ago, at an age where she’d realized she didn’t need robots to read her stories or carry her to bed and tuck her in at night. At a certain point, their doting had become counterproductive to her projects, and just being able to pace herself as she pleased was best.
That was unrelated to the situation at hand. Extraneous data, things that didn’t need to be considered for this particular conundrum. The problem was that at the end of the almost-end of the world, Princess Entrapta was meant to become the Queen of Dryl.
Her return from Beast Island came sooner than she appreciated, frankly. She and Hordak had been doing important work in determining what could be salvaged and what needed to be completely and mercilessly destroyed. They had fun, competing to design the most effective form of annihilation, factoring in environmental impact and showmanship. When the others came to visit, they’d take them up to the best viewpoint to watch as a pile of First Ones’ tech was dissolved in flashing, multicolored flames and spiraling rockets that burst in the sky.
And then the message from Dryl arrived.
Hordak was granted temporary leave from his duties, as Entrapta required her lab partner’s presence, no matter how much people grumbled about his tyranny. And besides, he’d never actually seen her original lab. She was sure he’d appreciate the complexity of the Crypto Castle, though perhaps not the inability to navigate it. The Fright Zone, by contrast, had an efficient layout despite its daunting appearance.
Their ship, reconstructed from salvaged materials and her understanding of Darla, shot over the restored lands of Etheria. Biology wasn’t really her field of interest, but she just may have to take a step into it as she gawked at the creatures below. So many new beasties had woken up with the restoration of magic. The First Ones’ designs especially made her eyes shine, as they were a fascinating splice between the biological and mechanical, which provided all kinds of resources to study with regards to neural integration that could revolutionize prosthetics —
“ — and it’s really a shame that all of Horde Prime’s data got trashed in the final battle but between you and Kadroh I’m sure I can figure out how you integrated ports into your central nervous system.” As she spoke, Entrapta poked Hordak in the back, in the space between those ports. The skin surrounding them was sensitive, according to him.
Hordak’s brow scrunched. He just tended to do that, whenever Kadroh came up. The whole Wrong Hordak thing hadn’t exactly been well received, but she propped herself up on her pigtails to smooth out the crease with her thumb. “Can I? Study you?” she asked, giving him an enormous grin.
Hordak stared at her, his expression flat but his silence telling. From him, the lack of a no meant that — “I suppose that would be fine. Though I would have thought with as much poking around as you do, you would have already figured that out.”
“Not at all!” She gushed. “I’ve only collected sufficient data on how they integrate with your armor, but I haven’t even scratched the surface of what it does with your body. Once I figure that out I could make further improvements to your exoskeleton to boost its sensitivity — I really am going to have to start picking up biology at this rate, hmmm.” She drew her feet up, hair forming a cushion under her legs.
Hordak gave a huff, but she knew he would say something if it actually upset him.
As the first peaks of Dryl’s mountains came into view, their conversation quieted. Most of the nation was formed from spread-out mining operations, the towns reliant on their dig sites. She vaguely remembered issuing money out wherever a dig produced something new and interesting to study, skimming the details to skip right to the good part before authorizing the transfer. Her bots took care of the rest.
Her bots had taken care of most things, before she joined the Horde. It had been a rougher transition than she liked to let on, moving into those sprawling halls.
Entrapta felt Hordak come up beside her at the window, peering down as well. His presence helped soothe her nerves. The Fright Zone had been a home to her, but it only really became that once they started working together. “Tell me about this place,” he said.
Entrapta faltered. “It’s — well Dryl is one of the smallest kingdoms in Etheria, but we built it right on top of a First Ones’ hot zone! Most of it is ore mining — iron and adamantine and such, but on occasion we’d pull up First Ones’ tech, like that chip that infected Adora’s sword!”
A smile crossed his face. “That’s why you were so familiar with First Ones’ technology,” he observed.
“Yep!” She plastered on a smile of her own without real enthusiasm.
The silence stretched out, longer than she thought it was supposed to. Or maybe he was just thinking. It was nothing, probably. She was just getting into a tizzy over nothing.
Hordak cleared his throat. “What was… growing up here like? I know that the Horde did not take interest in your kingdom until you… fell into our grasp. A critical error on my part, though perhaps one made for the best.”
Entrapta could recognize his attempt to compliment her and apologize all at once. Hordak was weird like that, but at least he didn’t act other than how he felt. People would say they weren’t upset when they were, and seemed to expect her to figure out the truth. It was nice, having someone who meant what they said, even if she had to dig a bit to find its meaning.
“Entrapta?”
“Huh?” She blinked, tearing her gaze from the window.
Hordak was frowning at her. “You didn’t answer the question.”
“Uhhhh.” As he opened his mouth to repeat himself, she burst out, “Oh right! Yeah, it was great!” And she got to launch into all the intricacies she’d installed in the Crypto Castle, uncertain why he was frowning through it. As the castle itself came into view she squealed her excitement, tugging on Hordak’s arm and pointing, shouting, “There it is, see!”
She watched him from the corner of her vision, how his frown lingered on her before he slowly turned his gaze to the window.
The ship banked down, landing rougher than she would like, but all things had their quirks. They were in one piece and that meant flight was a success. She hopped down the ramp, taking in a lungful of the air, the scent of metal and dust tasting of home.
They’d landed upon the cliffs above her old castle, and Hordak strolled to the edge to look down upon it. “This is an impressive fortress,” he commented, smiling. “Sturdy walls, even from above its navigational system is unintuitive. Excellent design. Where is the way down?”
“Right here!” Entrapta scooped him up with her hair pulling him over the edge of the cliff. He shouted as she cackled, her hair catching in rungs she’d bolted into the cliff, too far apart for any humanoid arm span but perfect for the length of her pigtails. She pushed off the rock to land on the bridge that connected her tower, only to drop again and corkscrew down its support and onto a rooftop.
She spun Hordak into her arms, dancing him around as she laughed. “That was fun! I haven’t ever brought another person with me!”
His ears were waggling in the way they did when he was dizzy — recalibrating the bit of the inner ear that handled balance, she was sure. “Warn me, next time,” he snapped. Even when he got short with her, he didn’t shout and roar like he used to. Softening, Hordak looked aside and added, “But yes. It was. Fun.”
She cackled and took his hand. “Let me show you around!” Her hair grabbed a hatch in the roof to pull it open and swing them inside, another lock grabbing her pad to pull up a map of the labyrinth. There was so much he had to see.
Her old lab was in a sorry state. Entrapta had almost completely cleaned it out when she was moving into the Fright Zone, and now she had to frown at the disconcerting sight of an uncluttered workbench.
“This is way more disappointing than I thought,” she stated, hands on her hips. Her voice rose into a loud groan, lamenting, “I wanted to show you my cool lab!”
When she sighed and looked at him, she found his eyebrows raised. Entrapta gave a bashful laugh. “When I heard your lab was called your sanctum, I thought it was classy.” She rubs the toe of her boot on the ground, smiling up at him with a blush. Truth be told, she’d gotten a little bit of a crush on him the same day she’d entered his lab. He called it a sanctum and hoarded tech and knowledge of the likes she’d never dreamed of, it was impossible not to get the butterflies.
It makes him smile, a hand lifting. “I am certain that —”
A sharp blip! Interrupts him. The smile vanishes, turning to glower at her pad. Entrapta taps the notification, pulling up a video of a balding man in a spiffy-looking suit.
“Your highness!” The man exclaimed. She saw his eyes flit, how he gave a start when he noticed Hordak at her side. “And — and — o-oh my.”
Hordak growled until Entrapta pushed him away with her hair. “Hello!” She chirped. “Who are you?”
“I — you don’t —?” He frowned, then shook his head. “Nevermind. I am councilman Wren!”
“Uh-huh.”
“I… am the head of the Council of Dryl?”
“Uh-huh.”
“I and the other council members are meant to have a meeting with you, today.”
“Uh-huh.”
“... Could you tell us how to get inside?”
Entrapta gasped. “Oh!” She clapped her hands, squeaking in delight when one of the dusty bots animated. “Go show them inside. Bring them here! No! Bring them to the dining room! Do we have a dining room?” The bot nodded. “Bring them to the dining room! And then bring tiny snacks! From the ship!”
“Your Highness —”
She closed the video feed.
For a long moment, Entrapta stared at the black screen. Then she realized she was being stared at, and looked up to see Hordak’s red eyes fixed on her.
Feeling self-conscious, she hunched her shoulders up. “What?”
Hordak blinked. “Nothing,” he claimed. Then, pausing, corrected, “It is strange to hear them address you in that way.” When Entrapta only cocked her head, he said, “Your Highness. At times I forget…”
“That I’m a princess?” Her mood plummeted. “I’m not, really. It’s just a title.”
She hugged herself with one arm, holding onto her own bicep as she shuffled out of the room, the pad guiding them to the dining room she apparently had. Behind her, Hordak stammered through several false starts, never getting more than a word out.
Entrapta didn’t recognize any of these people. Not their faces, not their names. They all bowed and offered a hand, and only stared at her when she gave them a lock of hair. Bow had kissed it, she remembered, with a pang of first intense fondness and then disappointment. She wished her friends were here. Not because Hordak wasn’t enough, but because the others made it better.
They sat around a rectangular dining table, as the bots brought out the tiny cupcakes and fizzy drinks she’d stored in the ship. Not a single member of the council touched their food, and even though she had no qualms with popping the sweets into her mouth and lounging in her seat, she couldn’t shake the distinct sensation that she was doing something wrong.
They’d been droning on about something for way too long. She’d broken out her tool kit to start fixing up the bot’s blinky eye, mask snapped over her face and hair bristling with tools. These old things were charmingly dated compared to what she’d been working with. Not obsolete, she only scrapped things when they could no longer go on, just adorably simple in their design. Hordak had introduced her to a world of new ideas, one that was only expanding with each day —
“Princess Entrapta!”
The sudden snap made her jerk upwards, yelping as she rapped her knuckles against the metal eye socket.
She looked up, searching for the speaker but only finding Hordak glaring across the table. “Lower. Your. Voice,” He growled, and Entrapta found Councilman Spanner shrinking in his chair. In a steadier tone, Hordak looked to her, asking, “Princess Entrapta, what are your thoughts regarding the deconstruction of Horde Prime’s spire in Dryl?”
The title gave her pause. He never used her title that way. A derogatory princess at times — though these days it was teasing — but the sound Princess Entrapta was alien in his voice. She kind of liked it. And she really liked him.
She curled a lock of hair around his ankle, squeezing it in thanks. “The spire, right!” She chirped. “We are absolutely gonna salvage everything we can. First Ones’ tech is advanced but what Prime was using exceeds even their sophisticated designs. The code they were working with was practically a living creature, it was constantly adapting itself, building and breaking its defenses to an almost unpredictable degree, but as you know true randomness cannot be achieved by —”
“Anyway,” Councilwoman — Bradawl? — Bradawl cut her off, leaving Entrapta to deflate. “Who are you placing in charge of this project? Who are they hiring? How will they be paid? What precautions should they be taking?”
“Uh — uhm,” Entrapta raised a hand, but another voice piped up.
“In addition to that,” Councilwoman Pliyer stood up, hands planted on the table, “What of the towns that were destroyed in Prime’s attack? The refugees in the cities? All of our most critical mines were commandeered in the attack and may be too dangerous to allow citizens to return to work, how do you intend to restore them to functionality?”
“I’m — hold on —”
“We cannot hold on, Your Highness.” It was Councilman Wren again, voice nervous as he wrung his hands. “I understand you are not suited to this job but the unfortunate fact remains that you are the only heir to the throne of Dryl and without the programs the former king and queen left behind, their responsibilities fall to you.”
A cold chill poured under her skin. Entrapta hugged herself, hands rubbing up and down her own arms.
“Your Highness,” Bradawl said, “If I may be frank?” She stared at Entrapta, waiting until she got a nod. “You have not made the best decisions for Dryl in the past —” Her eyes spanned to Hordak, “ — and your citizens lack faith in you. I believe that you must focus on rebuilding your image, while we make sure the cogs are turning smoothly.” She let the words settle.
Entrapta didn’t know what she’d expected to get out of this. She slumped into her seat, staring at her knees. Her nails bit into her skin, dragging scratches up and down her biceps.
“With all due respect, Princess, I would recommend that you cede these decision-making promises to us — your council — and that you fulfill your duty as the figurehead of Dryl.” Bradawl was smiling, now, voice smooth as silk. “After all, it is hardly as though you were their ruler in the past. There is no need for us to throw Dryl into further turmoil —”
“That is enough!”
Hordak was on his feet, slamming his hands down on the table. The council silenced, all eyes on him. Even Entrapta stared. His image was blurred by tears she was barely holding back, but she could see him shaking, the snarl of his teeth, ears pinned back in fury. “Shut your pathetic mouths at once,” he spat. “If I hear another word from you I just may elect to put your tongues to better use as slop for the worms! You. Will. Not disrespect Princess Entrapta in this way. Now be silent, and remove yourselves from her castle at once.”
There was quiet. Then, Spanner squeaked, “But what of Dryl —”
Hordak roared and smashed his hand into the table. His claws tore through its cloth and into the wood, splintering around his fingers. The man went pale as the others scrambled to their feet, making a hasty exit without so much as a bot to guide them.
“Send your requests by message. I see no need for Her Highness to endure the sickness of hearing your voice.” Looming over Spanner, Hordak sent him one scampering for the door. He remained poised over the table — over her — breathing hard and growling with every breath.
Entrapta burst into tears.
It welled up too quickly for her to stop, the tears pouring down her face and sobs hitching in her throat. Hordak was there in an instant, snarling violence replaced with a gentle yet faltering voice. “En… Entrapta.”
Embarrassment flushed her skin, and she reached up to pull her mask over her face. Delicate fingers stopped her, before Hordak spoke again, sounding more certain: “May I hold you?”
She had to consider it before nodding. Touch was good today. He lifted her into his arms and sank into the chair, holding her in his lap. His claws combed through her hair, awkward at first but gaining a smoother rhythm.
“Do you…” He trailed off. “Want soup?”
It caught her so off guard that Entrapta started snort-laughing through her tears. His face went red, ears leveling, his face caught in such goofy embarrassment that she could only laugh harder.
“You said it makes you feel better!” He growled, defensive. Even the fingers in her hair felt petulant.
Entrapta sniffed, then pressed a kiss to his cheek. “It does, thank you,” she smiled. It crumpled in an instant, the good feelings draining away. “I’m just — they’re right, though.”
“How are they right?” Hordak glowered at the door they’d run through. “Nothing they said indicated they possessed the brain cells required for critical thought.”
“I’m really not meant for this,” she said. Entrapta arranged herself more comfortably, sitting sideways across his lap, her temple leaned into his shoulder. “I didn’t learn how to be a princess. I’m just going to mess everything up if I try. And I don’t —!” She sat upright, stopped, and slumped against him again. Quieter, she finished, “I don’t even want to do this. I don’t know why I’m all in a tizzy about it.”
“They were disrespectful,” Hordak insisted. “If ruling is not a position you want, we can figure it out together. Perhaps with… the other princesses.” It came out begrudgingly, and she had to smile. She knew he still felt strange around them. Hordak sighed, then nuzzled into her hair. “We will figure it out. But anyone who attempts to undermine you will be crushed. … In a nonlethal manner.”
The disappointment in his voice made her break into giggles. She slid her arms around his shoulders, content to just be held for a little while longer. They would figure it out together in time. That was what lab partners were for.

has the prettiest, fluffiest blonde hair
and the sweetest smile
can you tell that i find him attractive yet?
has a fear of earthquakes
also supposedly had some sort of a relationship to an underage groupie named sable starr (14)
also has a fear of led zeppelin nowadays
either fear or amnesia
it’s likely that he’s the reason we’ll never get another led zeppelin reunion
though a close friend thinks that if the show went to charity robert would probably do it
robert loved john bonham too much to play in led zeppelin without him
and i respect that a lot
no matter how much he’s offered for a show he turns it down every time
in 1975 he got in a severe car crash and ended up being in a wheelchair
still went on to record zeppelin’s album
once while recording on crutches and started to fall and jimmy apparently zoomed in to save him. robert never saw him move that fast before
his five year old son (karac) died from a sudden stomach illness while he was in america on tour
absolutely crushed him
was deeply upset that neither jimmy page or john paul jones reached out to him during that time of his life
john bonham was there for him though
robert apparently never forgave them for that
a car he was working on fell on top of him and crushed some of his ribs as well
late seventies was not a good time for robert plant
but he got through it all like a champ
hates stairway to heaven with a passion lmao
one time he paid a radio station a shit ton of money just to make sure they'd never play stairway to heaven again
almost didn't sing stairway for the 2007 reunion but ended up agreeing to it after all
he said he breaks out in hives when he has to play that song
he and jimmy made their own symbols. robert’s is the feather inside the circle
in 2007 he won beard of the year
john bonham
Tumblr media
john bonham
born on may 31, 1948
nickname is bonzo
oh boy, there’s a lot of stories about bonzo
he was known as the nicest and sweetest guy ever
unless he was drunk
he drank a lot :/
denied jimmy’s offer to join the group and continued to deny it until robert convinced him
once flew the starship (led zeppelin’s plane) even though he didn't have a license to
hated touring so much
he always missed his family
so he drank
he was so damn crazy when drunk that the other members would book rooms floors above where his was so he wouldn't disturb them
tore about his hotel rooms like no other
he has a son named jason bonham who he loved a lot
bought him a nice drum kit when he was younger
jason is just about led zeppelin’s biggest fan next to jimmy page
one time bonzo broke a girl’s vibrator when drunk
also punched a girl in the face when drunk once bc she waved at him
partly responsible for the famous mud shark story where a girl was apparently fucked with a dead shark by him and zeppelin’s tour manager
liked cars a lot
really really loved his family. cannot stress it enough
was irked that john paul jones got out of playing shows during the christmas holiday and he didn't
punched robert in the face once too
him and john paul jones equals the best rhythm section ever
jimmy would call it magic how well him and bonzo got along
bonzo could handle anything jimmy threw at him
he wasn't really a part of it, but he had to go to jail bc peter grant and two other dudes almost killing a man (long story omfg, but apparently the doctors had to put the dude’s eyeball back into his socket)
was there for robert when karac died
they were really good friends
there’s an interview with them together where bonzo is laughing at robert about his little farm
gave good hugs apparently
played drums like no other could and knew he was good
but still sometimes got insecure and got upset when someone he looked up to said his drumming wasn't all that special
his symbol is the three rings and he picked it out of a book like john paul jones did his
he died in jimmy page’s house (not the crowley house btw)
he had to drink the equivalent of 40 shots of vodka and choked on his vomit in his sleep
led zeppelin died on the same day
nobody can replace john bonham
his son filled in his role for the 2007 reunion show and did an amazing job of it. the whole show is on youtube, go check it out
john paul jones
Tumblr media
 john richard baldwin
born on january 3, 1946
nickname is jonesy
was also a session guitarist like jimmy
they had worked together before
when he found out jimmy was forming a group he called jimmy and was basically given the spot immediately
not only was the bassist but also the keyboardist
and could play the recorder
insanely talented. put some respect on his name
he talks in italics i swear to god
i don't have mainly crazy stories about jonesy bc he wasn't about that life
deadass he would go on stage, perform, walk off stage and go to a whole separate hotel from the other
he would only tell one person where he was at and told them not to call unless for super urgent emergencies
pissed peter grant off so much lmao
wasn't really super close to anyone in the band tbh
but bonzo was probably his greatest friend in the band
jimmy and robert kind of leave him out in my opinion
or they use to
when he found out that jimmy and robert were making their own symbols instead of picking out of a book like he was he said “of course!”  and laughed
was pretty much left out of the live aid show
he had to squeeze himself on the stage and wasn't even able to play bass. he had to play the keyboard
“and thank you to my friends for finally remembering my phone number” -savage as hell john paul jones
he was one of the two people who found john bonham dead
it’s sad to think about
is actually quite funny
he has this kind of dry humor?? idk but it’s amazing 10/10 content
when john paul jones walks into the room interviewers break into a sweat
managed to look like a completely different person every year throughout the seventies or is it just my eyes?
has an Instagram account now go follow it for cute throwback photos lol
that’s all i really have for generic useless information about led zeppelin members for beginners. i hope it was somewhat entertaining. i'll make some more beginners stuff for led zeppelin. i will make y'all stan them lmao. i'm tagging @babygotblueeyes bc i know for a fact you want to get into them <3

Calamity bears human face
These are my thoughts on the first half of 87-2. Spoilers ahead!
I really, really liked the second part of chapter 87. Adachitoka still refuse us Yukine’s entire past, but maybe that’s for the best. If what we’ve been shown so far causes this many emotions in the fandom, I’m scared to think what would have been if they revealed everything at once. But… this post isn’t about Yuknie. Not because I don’t like his character, but because I really want to discuss the first 10 pages of the new chapter.
As I expected, we got some of Father’s flashbacks this time. Except they were about the part of his life that had Yato in it, probably several years (?) after Sakura’s death.
Tumblr media
Yato not wanting to kill people isn’t that strange, since he started “slacking off” because of Sakura’s influence, and we know that by this point Hiiro would take initiative whenever Yato wouldn’t put his heart in performing Father’s jobs, as shown in chapter 47. Interestingly enough, when Yato suggested that Father should kill people himself, the former answered that he “was killing gods, at least” – implying that he didn’t kill humans with his own hands.  Father’s words about killing gods do sound sinister but as we’ve already seen and will see later in the chapter, not all gods are warriors like Bishamon, Takemikazuchi and Yato himself, so I wouldn’t be too intimidated by this phrase.
His line about the uselessness of killing gods without killing people though … The idea is obvious and logical, so I don’t see the point in developing it further, but even now I think that Father did not choose the most efficient way to do it. Even if Yato stayed under Father’s total control, one god of calamity doesn’t seem to be that big of a threat on a global scale, contrary to whatever Nora has to say later in the chapter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The thing that caught my attention on these pages is Father’s words about shrines. Yato already revealed before that someone would always tell him he didn’t need a shrine, that someone being Father. Up to this point I simply thought that this was needed to cultivate Yato’s fear of being forgotten – if he doesn’t have a shrine, it’s all the more easier for him to disappear without any chances to reincarnate. The idea that Father actually thinks that shrines are useless somehow never crossed my mind, although now that I see it on paper it makes total sense.
And since Yato raised the question, I’ll take it from here. He said he didn’t understand why did needed to destroy humans if life would be boring without them. I’ve always asked this question in regard to any character whose end goal is total annihilation – what’s the point? Sure, Father isn’t aspiring to be an evil overlord as to ask him a question “who are you going to rule over if there’s no one left”. But his goal, apparently, is killing all gods and also all humans so that old gods can’t reincarnate while new ones can’t appear. But what exactly is he going to do if he succeeds? Die while feeling the satisfaction of revenge accomplished? It’s just so hard to understand someone whose views  are so different than your own.
I wish I could say that the small local kami that attacked Yato proves that Father’s words about shrines are wrong, but what happens next actually corroborates his statement. Partially.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One the one hand, the villagers’ prayer was heard, and the local kami attacked Yato for destroying the village. But Father just crushed her. So in the end, the kami wasn’t able to so anything about these humans’ problem, so yeah, their wish wasn’t granted.
This scene also demonstrates that yes, Father can actually kill gods. The more important thing about it though is that Yato sees it. We have already seen just how much Yato used to fear death for the majority of the series. However, knowing that Father has the ability to kill Yato by forgetting him is one thing; but witnessing him kill a kami just like Yato really drives it home. And it’s all the scarier how Father simply intercepted Yato’s weapon – he just summoned Chiki, who moments earlier was in the boy’s hands. Just look at Yato’s face, you can see the terror.
And Father didn’t really have the need to kill that kami. What could they have done with a chopstick anyway?  Maybe he god mad at this kami actually answering people’s prayer, disproving his point. Or maybe he just hates the gods so much he couldn’t stand even seeing one of them, so he just had to kill them.
(BTW, does anyone know what’s with the blindfold? I’ve tried looking it up but never found anything).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nora and Hiyori’s dialogue is my favorite part the chapter, there are just so many things to unpack here. First, “Father would praise the god called Yato”. Is it just me, or is Nora jealous? We saw in Yato’s memories that Father actually praised both his children. Then again, we also saw that he punished Nora when he wanted Yato to behave. Considering that Yato grew increasingly reluctant to kill humans, and Nora had to take the lead and finish Yato’s work, this kind of jealousy is unsurprising. Nora was Father’s right hand girl and supported him all the way, but between the two of them Yato would receive more attention.
“But at some point, Yato started mourning the deaths of other people”.  Yeah, we know at what point – Nora must be referring to the time when Sakura was still alive. I’ll just throw in a couple of pics from chapter 47 to remind you why Yato started mourning people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“When calamity strikes, people always become more devout”. This must be one of the most powerful quotes in the entire manga, because it encapsulates one of the foundations of the Noragami universe. Gods exist to grant human wishes, but who would have more reasons to pray – someone who has it all, or someone who’s in trouble? Remember the main reason why people start seeing the Far shore and things that relate to it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course humans would turn to gods if they can’t solve their problems themselves; that’s the reason they exist. I’ve already mentioned it in the post about memory and memories – the idea of a being that isn’t bound by human constraints, is immortal and can help out when there’s nothing else left takes shape of a person, and that’s how a god is born. Although there’s another reason, too – people hope that if calamity is sentient, you can bargain with it. That’s how people started worshiping Tenjin – not to ask for something they don’t have, but to beg him not to take something they already possess.
It may be that, by sending Yato to obliterate villages, Father was hoping not just for thinning out people, but for a somewhat different reaction from them.
“That boy loved people”. This line is just so heartwarming. And Hiyori already said it before. She saw Yato’s past and how even back then he tried to help humans – like making snow shoes for people in need. She understood him and accepted him.
Tumblr media
I don’t really have anything to add to Father wanting “to do something” though. I’ve already said before that Father is done with being the game master and wants to be an actual player. Apparently, he is waiting for Yukine to discover GGS completely before summoning him as a weapon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The line about natural disasters having human faces caught my attention before the chapter was even translated.  When people die because of natural disasters, it’s horrible, but there’s nothing you can do about it. We can say that “we need to build sturdier houses/dams/etc.”, “we need to take better precaution measures”, and we try, but you can’t possibly predict everything. But in a world where the sun, the moon, the lightning, etc. are personified as gods, a.k.a “have faces”, not only there’s a way for someone to direct their wrath at those faces, but there’s the question of why these sentient elements of nature do these things that hurt humans.
Let’s look at some of the examples of gods harming Nakatsukuni, the world of humans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter 7 – Bishamon cuts down a grove to get to Yato
Chapter 8 – Kofuku’s vent releases a horde of ayakashi, which results in rising crime rates in Tokyo
Chapter 60 – Bishamon causes a local hurricane to locate Father
Chapter 66 – Takemikazuchi transforms into lightning to fight Yato
The gods harmed the world of humans, but it wasn’t for fun. Bishamon was guided by her thirst for revenge both times. Kofuku was helping her friend. Takemikazuchi became angry because his guide was hurt. All of them felt very human emotions. Except, since they are gods and their power surpasses that of an average human, the result of their outburst is a dead grove, rising crime rates, a damaged school. They aren’t actually trying to purposefully hurt humans but for those who suffer from these actions that’s hardly a consolation. And like I said, it’s one thing when you don’t really have anyone to blame, because the wind that destroyed your house doesn’t hear you, and another, when that wind has a face.
I think that when Father sent Yato to destroy villages, he hoped that the calamities would make people turn away from the gods. After all, people don’t always become more devout during trying times, sometimes they turn away from religion, which is what happened with Father himself. There’s a phrase going around the Internet – it was allegedly written on the wall of a Nazi concentration camp by a Jewish inmate: “If there is a God, He will have to beg for my forgiveness”. I don’t know how true this story is, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s real.
And even with all this in mind, I still don’t understand Father’s logic. Suppose he doesn’t destroy all of humanity, but does manage to kill all gods. I don’t think it would change that much. Amaterasu, for example, is depicted as the sun incarnate, but… if she’s killed forever, will the Sun go out, too? I understand that I’m going off the rails and into the cosmogenic myth territory here, but I can’t help it. If there are no gods left, but the forces of nature continue to destroy human lives, then Father’s actions hardly change anything. (Look at me, trying to find a reasonable explanation for an unhealthily long revenge plan). Also, don’t forget that gods of other religions canonically exist in Noragami – what is Father going to do about them, I wonder?
As for “someone” being killed by the Heavens, I’ve recently made an assumption that the pock-marked girl’s death could have been a payment of sorts to bring Father back from the dead. I made this assumption knowing that Father’s words in chapter 60 imply that gods were more involved than that. What Nora said here about Father hating attributing gods’ actions to natural disasters makes it obvious that the girl died because of one of such catastrophes. I’ve looked some more at that page from chapter 60, and I still don’t see any visible damage on the girl. However, Adachitoka emphasize a skeleton lying in a field near a dead tree. Also, I’ve turned the page upside down to get a better look, and now this skull haunts me.
Tumblr media
Was it a drought, a famine that killed her? Or the smallpox? If these are her remains, why didn’t Father bury them? Who then helped him return from Yomi? We know it was a soul summoning, after all. So many questions that are yet to be answered.
However, even if we didn’t get all the answers yet, these ten pages did reveal a lot.
-          Nora knows Father’s backstory, but not all of it. Apparently, it’s a thing so painful that Father can’t tell everything even to his most devoted supporter.
-          Sakura’s influence on Yato was even stronger than I thought.  It’s possible that Father changed his course of actions and started giving Yato jobs that involved punishing criminals soon after the scene we saw in this chapter.
-          Father, apparently, thinks of himself as some kind warrior of justice while ignoring the fact that he does as much harm as the gods, and that he is a calamity with a human face.
P.S. that page with the human faces of nature absolutely rocks.
