I think its a rite of passage to make an au at least once, and ive been thinking super hard about how Sonic raised tails lately. So obviously an age swap au had to happen. Aka, the au in which they are both team turbo nerd and Tails needs a Vacation as a dire medical suggestion. (more rambling in tags)

Mirage X Reader - Falling
Description (This was a request but it got sent to my PMs instead of my inbox by accident): When Alison Moyet's song Falling comes on the radio, Mirage is forced to think about you and his feelings towards you.
A/N – Yep, so another Mirage one for all of you desperately waiting for the film to come out on a good pirating site in top quality.
Warnings – None.
Rating – T
Tumblr media
You stood at the sink washing dishes, a tune on your lips that you mumbled quietly to yourself, only half singing with your mind on other things like lost loves, failed relationships, and someone new in your life; Mirage.
“She said something like, I’m tired of me,” You sang Alison Moyet’s ‘Falling’, and then transitioned to whistling part more of the tune which had only come out a year prior.
Then, without the radio to follow, you reset to an earlier part of the tune, singing whichever little bits came to mind.
Little did you know, Mirage was spying on you, trying his best to imitate the stealthy way Arcee moved. Alas, subtlety wasn’t Mirage’s strong suit and he had already knocked over a row of garbage cans, and crushed some kid’s bike; he could only hope the bike wouldn’t be missed. Fortunately, among the usual noise and squalor of New York, nobody had cared about the sound or come out to explore.
Mirage wasn’t trying to be a creep by observing you. He just wanted to know more about your life and what you did. It seemed that in your day-to-day routine, you were obsessed with music. Bumblebee had already introduced Mirage to the concept of human music which was vastly different from the stuff that used to exist on Cybertron and Mirage liked it.
It was different from what he was used to for sure, but there were some songs he just couldn’t resist. The Twisted Sister song ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It,’ seemed to be a great Frag You to any Decepticon scum that attempted battle with him. And there was that one Bumblebee had introduced to him, ‘I Can’t Drive 55’, by that Sammy Hager fella. That was great, but Mirage was more than capable of beating that set speed and regularly did so when he wanted to bait the local authorities into a fun chase.
Still, he wasn’t sure he saw the appeal of this song. It sounded happy and sad at the same time, and he couldn’t decide which it was supposed to be with its New Wave vibe. Was it about falling, like it said? Falling for what? Mirage wasn’t sure, but you seemed to enjoy it. You hummed it quite a lot when you were thinking; he wasn’t sure you realised that you did that. It was one of the things he liked about you. It felt like you were letting your guard down when you hummed along to half a tune, and he enjoyed that you could feel so relaxed around him and the other Autobots.
Mirage might have called on you that night to ask you out on a drive; he liked your company. Alas, he got a message from Optimus telling him to return for the evening so they might meet the humans that Noah had been found by. Apparently, the new humans wished to discuss the possibility of an alliance with the Autobots.
Either way, Optimus’ message ended with, “Return to the rendezvous immediately.”
“Mirage, return,” Mirage mocked, impersonating Optimus. “Mirage, meet the humans. Mirage, I choose you.”
“Did I ask for your backtalk?” Optimus’ gravelly voice came through the radio.
“Scrap!” Mirage hurried to end the communication, having not realised that the line was still open when he had been joking around.
He transformed and raced off to the rendezvous point, any thoughts of you temporarily forgotten.
Tumblr media
The next night, the Autobots stood in a unified line as they stared at their new base, a fully functional warehouse, with technology that they could use, even if it was primitive Earth tech.
“Optimus, can we trust these humans?” Arcee asked, her optics never leaving the building.
“We must try, Arcee. I see now that we have spent too much time working only for ourselves when we should have been working together.”
“Any way you want it, that’s the way you need it,” Bumblebee played from his speakers, using Journey’s immortalised words to convey his point.
Arcee looked past Optimus to catch a glimpse of Mirage, “You’ve been awfully quiet, Mirage. Thoughts?”
Mirage marched himself in front of the trio, clapping his servos together as he began his speech, “Well, I mean, clearly there’s a lot to think about here. There are the new humans we know, we have to check the place for bugs, and of course, there’s the most important matter of all-” He took a few slow steps backwards, “- who gets the biggest room. I call dibs!”
With that Mirage spun on his heel and pelted towards the base. Bumblebee, unwilling to let Mirage have all the fun joined in the race and chased after his ally, though when he had just about caught up, Mirage jumped backwards, crashing into Bumblebee and knocking him over. Before he could sprint off again, Bumblebee grabbed Mirage’s ankle and the two began brawling on the floor.
Optimus walked past the wrestling bots with dignity befitting his position and a dismayed shake of his head.
Arcee took a few steps closer to her allies, resting her servo on her hip as she took in the show.
‘Scouts will be scouts,’ She thought mirthfully.
Eventually, the competition was over, with Bumblebee the clear victor, and after sitting on top of Mirage for ten minutes, he finally let him get up, but only after Mirage admitted that Bumblebee was the best Autobot and the supreme Earth expert.
After that, they raced through the base, checking out every nook and cranny, and wondering which exits they could exploit and sneak out of, should Optimus try to ground them from the drive-in again.
Eventually, Bumblebee and Mirage settled down, each picking out a portion of the warehouse that was just for them. All rooms had been modified with individual entrances so they could come and go as they pleased. Mirage had even been hooked up with some sweet racing posters. He set about decorating the room to his liking, letting his internal radio play as he did so. After switching channels, he stumbled across the song you liked so much.
Curiously, he let it play, trying to really listen to what the lyrics meant.
She said something like I want to go Down where the river's wild He said take me then I want to drown Deep in your violent eyes
Deep in your violent eyes? Was it a love song? If it was, it was the strangest one he had heard before.
He continued listening.
But I want to be sure of one thing That I'm getting into something peaceful I want to fly in on your wing Way, way up here I don't care for anything It's all in, and I'm not afraid I don't fear Falling
There was no doubt about it. The song was indeed about falling in love.
Mirage felt a sharp prick of indignation. Were you in love with someone? He had to assume so, considering that you didn’t seem to sing anything else. It was always this song. Who were you in love with, and why did he care so much?
He wasn’t sure, but the idea of you with someone else made Mirage’s engines rev and his face contort disgustedly. You were his buddy, his pal, his partner in crime. Why did you need some stupid, boring human, when you could hang out with him? Speaking of which, when was the last time the two of you had hung out of late? You hadn’t been together much since he’d been repaired. Well, with his room claimed and little else to do, Mirage decided that tonight was as good as any to get in some bonding time.
He transformed, revving his engine loudly as he waited for the automatic garage door to open for him. His wheels spun on the spot in a move that would have burned rubber on any ordinary car. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the door opened enough for him to slip through and he sped off, ignoring every speed limit he came across; if Prime gave him the third degree about laying low later, he would claim ignorance and take whatever punishment he was given.
When Mirage got to your house, he honked his horn loudly, waiting for you to open your window and see him. He couldn’t transform into his root-mode while a few seedy humans lingered about, so he had to wait for you to get to him… presuming you weren’t with someone lame, like a crush you hadn’t mentioned.
At the commotion, you poked your head out of the window, grinning when you saw Mirage. You held up two fingers, indicating that you would be two minutes and then hastily got changed from your pyjamas back into your day clothes. Grabbing your keys, you ran outside and climbed into Mirage’s passenger seat, buckling up in case he decided to take off before speaking as he was prone to do; buckling up was indeed a wise choice as Mirage took speedily to the streets.
“So,” You asked casually, “Business or pleasure?”
“Have you ever seen me do business? Business is for the big guy, you know, never smiles, never shows me that underbite, the big OP,” Mirage sassed you.
“I dunno, you seemed pretty business when you fought Scourge for me.”
“For you? No, no, no, I was fighting Scourge just for the sake of being the tri-planet champion.”
“Tri-planet champion?” You repeated incredulously. “You only fought him on Earth.”
“Yeah, but he’s from Galvatron, the living freaking planet. He fought on the Maximals’ planet, and he came here. Count ‘em – One, two, three. So, I digress, Tri-planet Champion.”
“Well, technically Noah was the one to face off with him, so-”
“Yeah, while he was inside me.”
“Okay, but Optimus was the one who took him offline.”
“Look, Optimus is always gonna be the champion of frowning and hard stares, a class I can’t compete in, so this is my thing.”
“All right,” You held up your hands in mock defeat. “You’re the champion.”
“Damn straight.”
“…Is the Champion going to tell me where we’re going?”
“Nowhere. Everywhere, Anywhere the road takes us. Just sit back and relax. We could listen to some music,” Mirage suggested innocently, his hidden agenda on his processor.
“Sure, then I can be the champion of karaoke,” You bragged.
“Against my voice? In your dreams.”
“Oh, so you can fight, race, and sing? Triple threat.”
Mirage laughed and turned on his radio. He let a few songs play, letting you sing along while he distractedly kept his inner workings tuned on finding the Alison Moyet hit. It would likely play soon, considering its popularity.
After a few good tunes, Mirage managed to find the song and he switched channels.
“Oh hey, I’ve heard this one before,” He said nonchalantly, “This is that sappy love song, right?“
“I don’t think it’s that sappy,” You defended with a smile.
“Oh yeah? Why? Does it make you think of someone special or something?”
You imagined how easy it would be to tell Mirage the the ‘someone special’ was him; as it turned out, it wouldn’t be easy at all. You clamped your mouth shut, a blush peppering your cheeks.
“So there is someone!” Mirage said all too accusingly. “You won’t be needing me anymore then, when this new person comes into your life.”
“You sound angry.”
“No I don’t!” Mirage replied huffily, proving your point. “You know what? I don’t think I like this song after all.”
He turned the radio off and the two of you sat in awkward silence. He kept on driving, slamming down on the accelerator. There was a lot of noise from honking cars as he sped in and out of their way.
“Just tell me who it is!” Mirage demanded petulantly when the silence finally got to him. “Is it Noah? He’s probably your type, right?”
“Why do you care?” You asked, annoyed and upset by the turn of events from nice drive to speedy interrogation.
“I don’t.”
“Then why are you asking so many questions?”
“I just feel I deserve to know who it is.”
“NO YOU DON’T!” You yelled back. “THEY’RE MY FEELINGS”
“AND I’M YOUR FRIEND,” Mirage countered as if that ought to give him the right to know everything you thought.
“This is so stupid,” You breathed, shaking your head.
“Come on!” Mirage insisted. “Tell me!”
“No.”
“Tell me!”
“No!”
“Tell me, tell me, tell me-”
Against Mirage’s frustrating onslaught, you finally yelled, “IT’S YOU!”
Mirage slammed hard on the breaks and you lurched forward, hissing as the seatbelt bit painfully into your collar bone. Fortunately, you were in an area with no cars on the road, having got off the interstate some time ago.
“What?” Mirage asked.
“It’s nothing, just… take me home, please,” You begged, scared now that you had said too much.
“You like me? Like romantically? You like me romantically? You romantically like me?”
“You done with the combinations?” You said bitterly.
“But I’m- I’m an alien.”
“Yeah,” You threw your hands up. “That’s why I didn’t tell you. Now will you please take me home?”
Mirage transformed his arm, pulling you out of his chassis as the rest of his body followed suit. From his palm, you looked down to the floor, wondering whether it would be better to jump and get a concussion rather than have the embarrassing conversation that was about to follow.
“I don’t get it,” Mirage said, staring at you as if you were a complicated mathematics problem.
“I know,” You said, wrapping your arms tightly around yourself as if it might protect you from the sorrow you were feeling.
“No, but like, I really don’t get it. I thought you were just a friend, and kind of cool but I think- I think I feel the same way, maybe?”
You watched Mirage guardedly, unsure as to why he was asking you when it was his feelings that were scrambled.
“Look, Mirage, you don’t have to pity me, okay? Please don’t test yourself on me. I know I’m not what you’d look for and-”
Mirage pressed his lips against yours then hastily pulled away. You stared at him, too scared to speak.
He nodded to himself, pecked your lips again, and then vented a quick puff of air from his systems.
“Yeah, yep, yes,” He stammered. “That- That was a feeling. A-ha. Yeah, so I just found out I have a thing for you too.”
“You serious?” You asked, making sure that Mirage was alright as he stumbled through a barrage of new feelings.
“Yeah, I uh- I get the song now. Still don’t love it, but I get it.”
“Seriously? You’re still thinking about the song?”
“Hey, I’m thinking about a lot of things at once here (Y/N), mostly how I’m going to explain this to Prime later, a little bit about how this is going to work, and yeah, the song slipped in there. Frankly, I think we need to get you more into Bon Jovi, but I guess this could be our song or whatever.”
You pinched the bridge of your nose and sighed. “This was not how I pictured any of this going.”
“Yeah,” Mirage nodded, pacing back and forth, the motion rocking you on his palm, “But at least we got a song, right? Most new couples got nothing.”
Despite your tiredness, you couldn’t help smiling at his straightforward manner of thinking, “Sure, Mirage. At least we have a song.”

FASTER <3 An episode I liked the first time that I have a new and powerful appreciation for
Wrecker and Omega playing strategy games is so cute. He loses a lot, but I think it's not because he's bad at them, she is just. Better than most people. She's great to play with though because eventually she learns that Wrecker just needs a little extra time to think on his turns, he only makes questionable moves if he's rushed.
Tech is SO unimpressed with the uber eats mission Hunter and Echo went on. It's so funny that they apparently needed to use the buddy system for nerf nuggets delivery. Just in case.
Tech is used to Cid's shit he is the only one like 'security detail needs elaboration' because he's apparently the ONLY ONE that remembers when important details like "target is a rancor" got left out
I just love the Star Wars tradition of 'you know what high speed racing needs? extra ways to kill each other.'
Cid explaining everything to Omega is so cute actually she adores this kid.
TAKE A SEAT SPECTACLED SPECTATOR. TAY-0 is so fucking funny. It's time he prepares for the next race. Which he's going to win. TAY-0!
CIDDARIN SCALEBACK. Top Tier Star Wars Name
I love the moment when Tech and Wrecker both move in to protect Omega instantly. And Cid pushing Omega back behind her when she steps forward. She WILL come through for that girl in season 3 I know it.
Wrecker: "What's he saying?" Tech: [REDACTED]
I adore the red painted battle droid we get glimpses of. Top tier design.
SAFA TOMA SPEEDWAY IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INJURY, DEATH, OR DISINTEGRATION. THANK YOU!
love to take my little sister to the local 'get shot in the stands' race
That is definitely not MOST of TAY-0 Wrecker my dear.
Omega immediately speaking up like I have an extremely impulsive plan to suggest that may get us all killed or worse
"I am ready to... WHEREAREMYARMSANDLEGS?" The delivery on this line is amazing
LET TAY-0 INSTRUCT YOU HOW TO DO THIS PROPERLY
Tumblr media
Tech looks like the most beleaguered customer service person alive right now
INSTEAD OF REPAIRING HIM WE SHOULD BE MURDERING THE GANGSTER <- Wrecker plans in action
"Hustlers like us never change" "I might surprise you." "I doubt that."
Come on you can't have an exchange like that and not have her immediately take her money and try to get Omega back and find Tech somehow
Love TAY-0's face flipping entirely around while walking away to continue talking to Wrecker.
TAY-0 BEING TAKEN OUT IS SO FUCKING FUNNY. THEY ASSASSINATED HIM.
Cid telling TAY-0 to snap out of it and he's literally just a torso... I don't think it's going to work...
DRAMATIC LEAD UP MUSIC TO "I WILL BE THE RACER"
Wrecker's face falling and "He's not joking" he is SO worried about Tech right now (anyway this parallels his calculated decision to shoot out the cable connector in Plan 99 and shows why it is not going to be as simple as him falling to his death, in this essay I will-)
OBSESSED WITH THE GRATUITOUS TECH CROTCH SHOT OF HIM GETTING INTO THE RACER.
The announcer going through every single name is such a great set up to them just ROASTING TECH'S NAME AT LENGTH WHILE THE CROWD MUTTERS DUBIOUSLY. BE NICE TO TECH.
Haxxon "The War Gnome" Trajanix is the red battle droid and I'm obsessed with him.
The other battle droid and the tricked out protocol droids are fantastic too honestly.
TECH YOU GOTTA BE IN FRONT TO WIN
It's called strategy NO it's called LOSING
I'm sorry their banter is so fucking good this episode. I cannot understand filler complaints on this one it's a breather episode and it's a fantastic one that sets up several things including Cid at the end of this season and like into season 3, as well as providing ample evidence of how Tech thinks and evaluates risk.
Cid looking away from the screen when she sees Tech take the death trap route is it because she's scared for herself or doesn't want to see him die right on screen
"You sound surprised" is another good possible callback line
"Well, I guess I owe you one." "Yes. I agree." "I'll make it up to ya!"
If this doesn't come back I will eat a hat. I don't own any so it won't be mine but I will find and eat one.
I still think the best ending to this would have been Hunter abruptly calling and going TECHHHHHH?

My observations and head canons about fighting styles in Rise
Splinter
As per Hamato tradition he learned Karate and Kobudo from his grandfather. Likely a more hard striking style since the purpose of learning was to potentially take down the Shredder demon.
He likely learned to use Nunchaku first as that’s pretty common, using them helps develop a better posture in fighting as well as speed in striking. But my guess is Sho likely focused on more lethal weapons (Splinter looked perfectly comfortable with a pair of axes when fighting Draxum to save his sons)
When he left though I have a feeling Splinter explored different martial arts as self-expression. He picked up Aikido as it’s a softer fighting style.
In a lot of his fight scenes Splinter almost never throws a punch (he might in one of the faster frames but a strike with his hands shown on screen is almost never done). Instead he keeps his hands occupied with weapons or blocking opponents.
That or he tends throw his opponents and use their momentum against them. He even does it to the giant Yokai monsters in the battle nexus. Hence Aikido.
Most of his strikes are kicks (or tail whips as Splinter but that doesn’t count). They are often high or done with a jump or a spin. I’m guessing he picked up Taekwondo as well.
Movies don’t want the same throws over and over, they want cool strikes and some violence. So he picked up Taekwondo to do movies cause a part of him didn’t want to touch Karate again.
Taekwondo is similar to Karate in that it’s a hard striking style, only it has more kicks involved. So he took to it pretty easily.
Besides I personally think it’s a more visually interesting fighting style than Karate, so that’s what he mainly used for his films.
His style quickly turned into a mix of the two. Throws and grapples to keep his opponent off balance with kicks and strikes to knock them down for the count.
Donatello
He adopted the kick and throw style of his father from copying Lou Jitsu movies just as his brothers did.
He tends to prefer the kicks since being in close-quarters combat puts him at a disadvantage weapon-wise.
Half the time his throws are not to take down his opponent but distance them from him.
Donnie was always nitpicked over getting the techniques right. He’d keep practicing until he could pull off a move effortlessly both with empty-handed moves and with his bo.
Mainly because he knew he wasn’t as strong as Raph or as quick as Leo and Mikey, so he worked to have the most accurate technique.
He was bummed about having the bo at first when they were little. But as he learned to work with it he realized that it can be dangerous and powerful. The weapon’s momentum adds to the strength of the strike so it makes his attacks stronger.
Plus it’s length allowed him to fight with some distance and that gave him more confidence in fights.
Before he made his tech bo he was always looking to diversify and expand his skill to have as many advantages as possible. He’d practice some Kungfu techniques he picked up from online. While he’s no expert in this style, Donnie can still use them in a pinch.
He dropped it when he made his tech bo though because the style works better with longer and more flexible staffs than titanium could offer.
Slowly picking it up again after getting his Ninpo and working on techniques for the various weapons he can change his bo into with the mystic energy.
Leonardo
Lou Jitsu style fighter all the way.
Prefers kicks over throws cause it looks cooler and he’s all about that aesthetic. He pulls all the stunt attacks from the movies.
He also started copying Capoeira because it’s cool af and bad ass.
He doesn’t really punch cause his hands are occupied by swords (or sword if it’s during the show cause ODACHI ARE HUGE, seriously boy be waving that thing around with one hand??????).
He's only ever made lethal strikes against origami ninjas, Shredder, the Kraang, and Warren Stone.
He’s very precise about taking out enemies without killing any other time. Splinter drilled into his mind when he was little that he was not meant to be a killer. That they are more than just fighters.
If he is weaponless he goes for quick takedowns.
He prefers not to be weaponless though, and is always the first to grab improvised weapons.
While he tends to stick to swords and sword-style fighting, Leo is one of the best at picking up different weapons. Kama, Staves, Tanto, Tanbo, Nunchaku, Tonfa, really anything he can dual wield he tends to favor.
When he got his Ninpo he practiced throwing weapons more. He’d practice with Shuriken then move onto his Katana. He practiced with his brothers present as well, they practiced catching so he could switch places with them in the heat of battle like he did with Raph during the finale fight.
Michelangelo
Being smaller than almost every opponent, he favors throws to keep them off balance.
He’s a fast striker, preferring to go in to hit then get some distance before any retaliation.
He also incorporates flips and gymnastics so he can maneuver around his opponent and strike in even small openings.
His kicks often come from above, using the momentum of a flip to add power to his strike.
He’s picked up some other martial arts styles, practicing some Kungfu with Donnie, they both do a lot of more Northern styles together.
He also likes to practice Capoeira with Leo too.
He’s damn fast with chain weapons. Two section Nunchaku, three section Nunchaku, Kusari-fundo, Chigiriki, Kusari-gama, rope-dart. If it’s tethered he can wield it. (Also the most accurate at firing a grappling hook, like Leo and Raph can’t even get their hooks to catch on something half the time)
He’s pretty decent with a bo too, but he prefers the movement chained weapons allow.
Is also the most accurate with thrown weapons like Kunai and Shuriken. The boy just has the best sense of spacial awareness out of all of them really. He kind of developed it as not to hit himself with his weapon and it only kept expanding from there.
Raphael
With his strength and size he is the most comfortable fighting without weapons. Kicks and throws can send baddies through walls.
Half his throws are inspired by wrestling, the big nerd.
He's the most comfortable using his fists since the Tonfa and Sai are just extensions of one’s strikes. Without them his style reflects Shotokan Karate despite never having been trained in it by Splinter.
He kind of misses his Tonfa cause he’s not always comfortable being able to stab with the Sai. He’ll really only go full strength against big bads like Shredder, Kraang, and Big Mama (who he knows won’t hold back).
He even pulls his punches on Origami Ninjas cause he feels bad and doesn’t want to really hurt Buddy’s brethren.
He knows how to handle other weapons, he just needs time to adjust and settle in to handling them before he’s decent. Surprisingly good with Nunchaku, finds them similar to Tonfa but with more extension and mobility.
He just isn’t as precise in his attacks as the others. His technique lacks but he makes up for it in strength and ferocity.
Worst aim of the bunch when it comes to projectiles. He leaves the Shuriken throwing to his brothers.

Mutant Mashup Au: Ninpo explanation
Y'all know about the power the Rise boys get once they unlock their ninpo. But in Mutant Mashup, the 2012 boys get some powers too (Draxum Clutch Tm).
Large bodies of text ahead, be warned!
At the moment, the Rise fam retains the same ninpo abilities as in canon (Red: holographic constructs, Purple: mystic tech, Blue: portals, Orange: mystic chains). If you watched the show you know that Orange (Rise Mikey) gets mystic chains and fire, but in the Au he only has his chains. A small but important change.
The 2012 boys are the Rise fam's cousins so they get ninpo too, which is more geared towards the elements. I think I'd be fun if their mystic weapon's amplified their mystic powers to dangerous levels. Draxum likely kept the weapons locked up as they were "too destructive" when compared to the Rise fam's weapons.
DaVinci's ninpo is water/air. When using his mystic weapon (a pair of tekko-kagi claws), Vin can create violent whirlwinds that can throw enemies around. These winds don't affect Vin's family unless he is trying to catch them or himself. The claws grow or shrink depending on how Vin is feeling so if he feels super angry then the claws sharpen and grow longer. Once the claws are destroyed by Shredder, Vin unlocks another aspect of his ninpo which is basically water bending. He can pressurize the water to the point it can cut through anything. When Vin combines both powers he goes full typhoon mode.
Sanzio's ninpo is fire. His mystic weapon are a pair of gauntlets and can shoot fire from his fists or even breathe fire. These flames can be all consuming and Zio can't always control them once lit, but he learns how to temper them over time. Sometimes the flames burn his family so Zio isn't too keen on using them at first, but that changes once the gauntlets are broken. After the gauntlets break, Sanzio can set himself on fire for a limited time, his tolerance builds up as he ages. More importantly, Zio has more control over what his flames burn and how strongly they do burn. (Yoshi doesn't like his ninpo unfortunately, it reminds him too much of what happened to Miwa and Tang Shen)
Niccolo's ninpo is earth. His weapon is a two sided battle axe that can "shatter the earth." (Nico tried using the mystic weapon Purple was supposed to get but it didn't work for whatever reason). If Nico hits the ground, everything starts shaking, kinda like a mini earthquake. This kicks up a lot of spikey rocks that Nico can send over to the enemy, a bit like his family's ninja stars. Due to the near permanent results of his ninpo, Nico doesn't use it all too much which irritates him. Once the axe breaks, Nico can finally do what he always does, create something new. He can still cause earthquakes and force large rocks to jutt out of the ground, but he can also reshape the earth into whatever he needs and even walk through magma, though only for a limited time and with proper mental preparation. Nico starts off by making small lab assists but as he grows, he can create huge Kaiju sized golems.
Simoni's ninpo is electricity. His mystic weapon is a scorpion chain that helps him electrocute baddies from a distance. The first time Simon used his ninpo he took out the entire city's power grid. It was fixed really quick but Simoni's electric current was way too strong to be used around machines (Nico and Purple were paranoid for weeks). Thankfully, Simon got more control over the power output once the his weapon broke. Simon can now use his ninpo to tether things together and keep them in place, a little like a spider web (Big Mama absolutely loves this). The things Simon can do are simple but versatile like creating electric ropes only he can walk on or dangle from. His ninpo can give him a little burst of speed which he exploits a lot when running away from his bros. Maybe Simon can sense things a lot faster then everyone, probably because he can feel the electricity in the air or something.

More Than Meets the Eye #45 — The Scavengers Have a Nasty Gap in Their Employment History and Will Have to Settle for Entry Level Positions
Tumblr media
Guys, this isn’t friggin’ Playbot magazine. Stop trying to look suave on the issue where you all treat each other like shit and Grimlock pisses himself.
Anyway, it’s Scavengers Time.
Tumblr media
Oh, and don’t worry about that crotch— it’s friendly, I swear.
Before we get into the issue proper, I do just want to point out how Roche did one of the variant covers, and boy howdy did he give it his all.
Tumblr media
Roche’s Fulcrum frightens me, and yet, in my heart of hearts, I know this is his true form. Milne is a coward, and Roche is completely aware of it, having given everyone’s favorite project manager-turned bomb a chin you could kill God with.
Okay, so it’s been a minute since we’ve seen the Scavengers; the last time they were on-panel was all the way back in issue #21, in the aftermath of the whole “Tyrest tries to kill all cold-constructed life in an absolutely bonkers attempt to absolve himself of guilt so he can go give Primus a BFF necklace” thing. What have my favorite Decepticons been up to? A lot of shit!
They got stuck in the Musical Mushroom forest, Spinister got some grammar lessons, Misfire was repeatedly threatened with gun violence by Shockwave, the fellas got ahold of holomatter tech at some point, they joined a death match Jenga tournament, Krok and Crankcase learned about perspective in art, and then they had a mixed media adventure.
Tumblr media
Fulcrum couldn’t join us for this panel, as the third-party toy companies hadn’t gotten around to making him yet, and if you think Hasbro— who hasn’t let a toy Megatron be a gun for over 20 years now— is going to allow a bomb into their line, you’ve lost it completely.
So, that catches us up to the present. What are the Scavengers up to currently?
Tumblr media
It was nice while it lasted, I suppose.
Our narrator is Misfire, who reflects on how nasty things got, as he walks past Fulcrum’s corpse and reminisces about how he blasted him in the stomach earlier. Nice shot, Misfire! He monologues as he drinks a space beer with Krok’s name literally on it, adding insult to injury as he moseys past the man’s lifeless body. Misfire second guesses his usage of metaphor as he pays respects to Grimlock’s body. I wouldn’t want to tangle with whoever managed to take the T-rex warrior bastard out.
The only other remaining Scavenger ambushes Misfire, Spinister screaming his own name as he punches the beer out of Misfire’s mouth. The two wrestle, both of their eccentricities clashing together for an impressive comedy of lingual errors, until Spinister manages to cheerleader-kick Misfire away to get a clean shot on him. Misfire accepts his fate, and is promptly shot— but not by Spinister.
Tumblr media
Yes, as it turns out, the opening of this issue was not, in fact, the dissolution and subsequent murder of the Scavengers, but rather a NERF gun battle, which Crankcase just nuked from orbit by butting in.
Misfire’s a bit sour about having been darted, which his crew mates seem to think is due to his habit of running an internal monologue. Spinister says some shit that makes me wonder if he’s, like, okay. Fulcrum rejoins the group, his own stomach darts still stuck on for effect. Krok runs in, interrupting the “rag on Misfire for his fourth wall leaning” to ask who the hell is flying the WAP, though Crankcase says that it’s fine.
Tumblr media
And that’s a series wrap on the Scavengers! Let’s give ‘em a hand, folks!
We cut over to Misfire in Grimlock’s room, trying to get him back up to speed in terms of language and mental cognition. It would appear that Grimlock hasn’t gotten any better since he was found in issue #7, still only able to speak with his vocal tic from the G1 cartoon. Misfire is frustrated, but isn’t giving up yet, having broken out the white board to try to get Grimlock to follow the letters he’s written. His handwriting is very neat.
He also tries to get Grimlock to reconnect with himself, telling him about who he used to be— a fearsome Autobot warrior, who was the stuff of nightmares to Decepticons. They still don’t know what the fuck happened to Grimlock, only hearing from an outside source that he went missing from Garrus-9. We saw this discovery happen back in Last Stand of the Wreckers.
Something happens with Grimlock here, as he seems to be pulling a sad face over his current state. He takes the marker from Misfire and writes a rather fancy “G”, which Misfire is elated over! Things are looking up!
Except Misfire might have pushed a bit too hard with mentioning Garrus-9, as Grimlock’s progress backsteps and he “drains his tanks” all over the floor.
Which, I get the intent. The idea of your body failing you despite your best efforts, despite being repeatedly reminded what you used to be capable of, is horrifying and sad, and this is a decent way to show that. But you’re still making me look at robot piss, James, and I don’t like it. I accept that it’s happening, but let the record show that I don’t like it.
Misfire, frustration mounting, makes a motion to punch Grimlock, before he catches himself and instead wonders aloud who hurt Grimlock. However, I don’t think Grimlock wants to think about who hurt him, as he grabs Misfire by the throat.
Cutting away from what’s likely Misfire’s grisly demise, we catch up with Fulcrum and Crankcase in the T.V. room, watching a standup special starring Skullcruncher, Decepticon-turned-comedian, as he goes through a drawn out jab at the muddled Decepticon “Phases” plan. Really, it’s functioning as a way to make sure the reader for-sure knows that the Scavengers know what the score is for their side and that Megatron is playing for the other team now.
Then we finally see where Krok’s gotten to.
Tumblr media
Krok, honey, you gotta start throwing your weight around as a commanding officer, or this is just going to keep happening.
Knowing his priorities, Krok drags himself over to the mini fridge for a space beer, finding that his VERY CLEARLY LABELED drink isn’t where he put it. Though he knows who probably took it, he just grabs another (no word on if this one is labelled) and goes to find his crew. He quickly comes into hearing radius of the television and goes to see what’s up.
As Fulcrum explains what they’re watching, it’s revealed that Crankcase is suffering from facial paralysis, making him look much more displeased than he actually is. I wonder how often this issue gets him into trouble.
It turns out that Krok knows Skullcruncher, and hates his fucking guts. Skullcruncher, in turn, uses Krok’s existence in his act, as the “incompetent strategist who named himself after his dead pet.” Fulcrum thinks this is hilarious. Krok does not.
Tumblr media
I’m getting “exes” vibes.
Krok is ungodly frustrated with the direction his life has taken since the end of the war, having done nothing but get almost killed by the DJD, desecrate corpses, dick around on the internet, and pick up moneyless losers to stuff in his ship for the last couple years. He’s tired of being the guy on the bottom, while everyone who used to be on his level has become successful and maybe even happy! As he goes on about how unfair it all is, he goes absolutely ham clicking his communicator. When Fulcrum tries to get him to stop, it only further upsets him. Even Crankcase, the de facto pessimist of the group, tries to lighten things up, but Krok is NOT having it. He’s sick of life fucking him in the ass without so much as buying him a drink first.
Then Grimlock explodes through the wall and the conversation is briefly tabled.
Crankcase shoots Grimlock with his backpack cannons, while Misfire— who is riding Grimlock’s back, thus living every eight year old’s dream— screams about it being unnecessary, as the big guy was about to pass out anyway. Krok, still steamed, tells Misfire that Grimlock’s time with them is running out, as he’s only getting stronger, and not more capable of being reasoned with, which is a dangerous combo on a rickety piece of shit like the WAP.
Misfire, likely still full of robo-adrenaline from the dino ride and frustration from Grimlock’s lack of progress, digs in his heels and needles at Krok’s lost squad, who still haven’t shown up, now have they? Fulcrum tries to nip this in the bud, because even he knows that this is a sore subject, but Misfire’s too het up to care about Krok’s feelings, and is done of tiptoeing around the issue. Spinister luckily comes in to let the guys know they have a call, before someone can get shot for real.
It turns out that the planet the WAP crashed on was their actual destination, as they’re meeting a guy named Demus, who Krok met on “The Big Conversation”, a Decepticon-central social media website. Demus, like Krok, is a monoformer and member of Triple M, the Militant Monoformer Movement terrorist group. Demus had frame dysmorphia bad enough for him to opt for the surgical removal of any kibble on his body. Krok does not have this issue, as can be seen by his funky shoulder fins. I like to think that Krok used to turn into some sort of boat, though don’t tell him I said that; I know it’s a bit rude in-universe to theorize on others’ alt modes.
Tumblr media
Crankcase really isn’t all that cranky once you get to know him, is he? I think his surly little face sets a precedent that really doesn’t match his personality. Funny, that.
The boys land on the far side of Demus’s scrapyard, and Krok reveals that the man is making an absolute killing in the scrap business, having a personal collection of moons just for the hell of it. So, whatever the guy’s looking for them to do, he’ll definitely pay well. Crankcase, however, doesn’t really want to work for a living, which, y’know, mood.
Demus calls from a fair distance away, asking that everyone inject an inhibitor chip into their bodies so they can’t transform, as it makes him physically ill to see. They’ll burn out in an hour, so there’s no long-term commitment to the monoformer lifestyle.
Tumblr media
This is why we need more than two therapists on Cybertron.
Demus leads the Scavengers through the labyrinth of his livelihood, showing off the real bread and butter of his operation— Roboids™, delightful little toy pets that folks just can’t seem to get enough of! Collect them all! When Fulcrum asks about pricing, Demus says all his current stock is pre-sold, though Fulcrum’s face tells me he wasn’t asking because he wanted one for himself.
Fulcrum, who, I will remind you, was forcefully reformatted into a bomb during the war. Y’know, just in case we find out something nasty about Demus’s business practices later where that would be a sort of deliciously terrible irony.
The Scavengers file into Demus’s office, Spinister seeming to have grown half a story taller in the process, and Crankcase tries to get ahead of his employment anxiety, demanding a ridiculous amount of break time, company cars, and triple whatever the average income for a ‘Con is. Demus is perplexed as to why the fuck Crankcase thinks he’d stoop to hiring any of their bottom-of-the-barrel asses. No, Demus asked them to meet so he could purchase Grimlock. When the Scavengers react to this declaration dubiously, Krok tells them to shut up so Demus can get to the good part— he’s willing to give them a collective 2.5 billion space dollars in exchange for the leader of the Dinobots.
Demus walks off to take a call, leaving the Scavengers to discuss. Krok, who was the only guy to know what the real point of this trip was, tries to get the guys to hear him out, appealing to each of their desires and vices. Fulcrum, however, is tricky, as it would appear they haven’t really made it to the “talking about life goals” portion of their roommate relationship. Fulcrum was perfectly happy to do fuck all like they have been, considering that he’s technically supposed to be dead twice over by this point.
Krok moves on to Misfire, who is furious that THIS is the reason they’re in this scrapheap. Krok points out that the original plan they had, where they dump Grimlock on Cybertron, won’t work anymore, as King Bitch Starscream probably wouldn’t like it too much. Misfire isn’t sure that this is a better solution, however.
Fulcrum is still a little weirded out with Demus in general, and asks that they put it to a vote, like they did with facing the DJD back on Clemency. Krok, obviously, votes to sell Grimlock, refusing to say what he wants the money for. Misfire, while not wanting to look like he has icky baby feelings, votes to not sell, as Grimlock needs him, and he needs Grimlock. Fulcrum also votes in Misfire’s direction, not too keen on indulging in trafficking. Crankcase really wants a spaceship of his own, so he votes for money, and Spinister just doesn’t like Grimlock being around, probably because it makes him feel short, and he’s not used to that. Krok, ungodly smug, declares the vote counted, and they prepare for their new Grimlock-free, moneyful lives.
As the Scavengers were arguing however, Demus is revealed to be having a bad time, as it turns out that the security detail he hired isn’t doing its job, as he’s chased and shot by a looming figure. I’m sure he’ll be fine, though.
Tumblr media
It’s fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine!
Demus, not completely down for the count just yet, tells the boys to run for it, as he scrambles for his weapon, before his head is exploded by a gunshot. But who could have been after this tiny little monoformer of a man?
Tumblr media
Okay, so maybe I lied about the crotch earlier.

any pokedela dave or ruth hcs :D?
Dave is a professional silly guy in this au! So (if you’re not familiar with how Pokémon games usually work) Dave is the professor of Mandela County, so he coordinates with new trainers to catch their first Pokémon! Since there haven’t been many new trainers, he’s begun coordinating with the MCPD to discuss his findings on his nephew Mark, as he thinks there might be a connection between his death and the disappearance of the Mandela kids. Dave gave Mark his first Pokémon, an Eevee, and helped him catch and train some of his more exotic Pokémon! He tried his best to give the same attention to Sarah, but it hurts him to see so much of Mark in her and is a bit distant from her. Though she turned down the assistant position, Sarah still visits him though, and she gets a lot of her battling skills from him! He has a soft spot for BPS, and tries to keep their name out of MCPD’s mouth when he works with them, he’s pro justice for mark anti cops ykwim? He also still owns the local tech store, and hired his best worker, Evelin as an assistant professor! She helps him with maintaining trainer records, but isn’t allowed to see the old Rotom machines in the back closet.. Dave also works closely with the MCPD’s officers, specifically Ruth and Thatcher, on his own research about his nephew, Mark. He leads the story segment that involves the early wave of alternates, so the Mark Heathcliff incident and Cesar’s disappearance. While he personally isn’t the one investigating, he provides a lot of the necessary background and is instrumental in contacting Mark at the story climax! If they can do it with a cubone in gen 1, I can do it too goddamnit. The relationship between Dave and Mark is important in this au, it’s why Dave went on to be a professor, to reach out to kids and help them feel like someone cares about them. It ran him pretty ragged though, which is why Sarah doesn’t feel as connected to him and Mandela county.
As for his team, it’s based heavily on his friends and loved ones! Luxray and Morpeko represent Ruth and Thatcher, a tough electric lynx and a little mouse with an attitude. He also has an alolan raichu and joltik, who are mark and Sarah, respectively. Sweet and friendly, representing Mark as a child (when he knew Mark best), and small and full of energy, like Sarah! He also has a porygon and a rotom, which represent the windows OS and his tech business! He gives out the Tech Geek badge (which is just a Mandela Tech Daily lanyard) and the TM for charge beam!
Ruth is a little different in this au than my other ones, I think. She’s a little moodier, because her daughter is gone. That’s the main reason she pulled Thatcher from retirement. While the two have been friends since he joined MCPD, her temper is a bit shorter, and she doesn’t have as much time for Thatcher’s adult teen angst. But working with Thatcher, Dave, and meeting the kids on the BPS route reminded her how important it is to value the people around you. If you pick Ruth as your protagonist (between ruth and thatcher) you’ll receive her commentary on the events of each story! Just as Thatcher has more experience with the Heathcliff case, I imagine Ruth takes a greater interest in the missing children and can relate more to Sarah than Thatcher does. They’ve both lost someone close to them, and have the same angry, almost vengeful approach to their investigation into the disappearances. Ruth often teams up with Sarah and Jonah to track down Adam or follow Evelin’s leads. They think she’s cooler than Thatcher, but appreciate him for his sad dad energy. Ruth is the more aggressive, attack-heavy battler between the two. She’s more likely to go on the offensive than thatcher, and most of her team utilizes a high attack or speed stat over defensive bulk, like her ace Arcanine! Arcanine is the classic police poke-dog, and stoutland is another search and rescue dog. She uses a yamper and lucario for Dave and Thatcher! She’s a dog lover, if you can’t tell hehe. She also has an eevee, which she was training for her daughter to use, and a Kangaskhan, a motherly Pokémon whose strength comes from her love of her baby! For missions though, she switches eevee for an Audino, whose bulk and incredible hearing makes keeping safe during an investigation much easier! Even though it’s not the best battler. If you select Thatcher as your protagonist, you battle Ruth in the original victim story, and she gives you the Guardian badge and the TM for Swagger! You would also fight alt!Ruth in the BPS route if you selected Ruth as a protag, with the same team!

Unit Teambuilding - Battle Tower (Alt) Leon
I hate that it’s alt, but I guess “Battle Tower Leon” is a lot more to write out, so they went with Alt Leon.  Sure.  Thankfully, he got the cool outfit, and the cool Ghost Pokemon, so he’s-Dragon type?  Really?  Come on.
General Overview Leon is a Dragon Tech, who really should’ve been a Striker.  Leon’s main selling point is Dragon Darts, an effectively 200BP move.  This is excellent, and is actually stronger than SS Serena’s Core Enforcer.  With just this and a trainer move that performs the standard +4/+3 self buff, and an excellent speed tier of over 500 with +1 speed on TM, Leon really didn’t need for much more.  But he got it, in Piercing Blows.  Not only is his damage excellent, his gauge control is strong, and his damage cannot be stopped.  Adding a Max Move for burst damage makes this even more threatening.  Impervious, while generally inconsequential, does permit Leon some tools that will likely do well in Gauntlet.
So why do I not feel as impressed with him?  I think it comes down to expectation vs reality.  Leon’s a Tech, and his conditions are...painful.  Burn requirement but no Go Viral until 4/5, and needing as many debuffs as possible but only getting maybe 4 at a time is incredibly damning.  His opening sync is very slow acting and kind of a pain, and legitimately I think it’s less worth it to run his Buddy move if he’s the star of the show.  Just throw out Dragon Darts, it’ll do more.  His sync damage is around the standard for Tech, which means a bit better than Lucas and Drasna but not as good as Anni Raihan or C!Iris.
Leon is still really good.  I love debuffs, so I’m kinda partial to the kit, but he’s also really...odd.  He reminds me a bit of SS Cyrus, in the sense of “pick one thing and only do that.”  If he’s supporting another striker, just spam Buddy move.  If he’s dealing damage, just spam Dragon Darts.  There’s basically no reason to ever burn someone yourself.
EX and Move Level? Because he’s a Tech, EX is generally recommended.  That said, I do stand by the belief that his strength is DPS and having a Max Move.  1/5 is likely serviceable.  His sync multipliers are a rough time anyway, and he’s not getting great boosts to DPS since it’s only Burn Synergy 3, which is hard to set up.  I don’t agree with it.  But, there is a strong case to be made for 4/5, sadly.  Go Viral is legitimately fantastic when you’re running Burn multipliers and...*sigh*...Breaking Swipe: Hit Burned Opp Stat Down 9.  Guys, I know these skills are meant to be descriptive so people know what they do, but can be please just go back to using keywords?  You sound ridiculous.
Team 1: Alt Leon, H!Caitlin, Lucas Did someone say caps crit but needs a bit of attack?!  Hello naughty children, it’s Caitlin time!  Truth be told, she’s likely overkill, you can use something lower tier than that, but favoritism.  Lucas is chosen for the Zone, but admittedly, this is an issue with Leon.  He’s physical, and the Dragon Zone is special.  CS demands reallocation of points as a result.  Which isn’t great, but it’s manageable if desired.
Team 2: Alt Leon, V!Agatha/Bugscyther, H!Morty/V!Kiawe If only Bugscyther were real.  Anyway, the focus of this is on Leon’s sync.  H!Morty is a decent partner here, thanks to Spread Burn.  V!Kiawe can at least set up Power Play, and with Defense Crush lucky skill, actually contributes meaningfully to anything.  Bugscyther tops off attack and gets Leer debuffs, but in absence of him, any defense debuffing support like V!Agatha can work out.
Team 3: Alt Leon, Skyla One of the nice things about Leon is that he has Piercing Blows, and the ability to debuff, making him a pretty solid Gauntlet Duo choice.  Skyla in particular is great.  Defense buffs complement his attack debuffs, and the speed keeps gauge rolling.  Potion for survival, and you’re set to go.
Team 4: Alt Leon, C!Iris, Sonia Alt Leon’s debuffs are basically a buffed Leer that deals respectable damage in addition.  It’s a worthwhile consideration!  It’s especially worthwhile when you’re dealing with a partner who can hit for roughly eleventy billion damage on a single target, provided some debuffs are present.  C!Iris is a great partner to Leon.  Leon’s DPS is super strong, but C!Iris is the sync nuking monster that capitalizes on it all.  I actually ran this exact team this morning, with Leon 1/5, and we actually cleared before Iris could sync.  Leon’s spread damage is very respectable, and Iris’ Dragon Rush is more than enough to kill on-type.
Final Thoughts Here’s a question for you.  It’s the month before anniversary.  All of this is bait, and you might be looking at your gem stash, cautiously considering whether it’s really worth it to get any of these new pairs.  What does Leon offer you that doesn’t already exist?  That you don’t already have?  AoE Atk/Def/Spd debuffing?  SC Steven does that while pumping your damage up to infinity.  Burn?  Not until 4/5 he doesn’t, and SS Lysandre is far more significant for off-type clears given the absurdity of his damage and Buddy move.  Dragon damage?  It’s top of the chart, but I don’t think it’s necessary to pick up.
I think Leon is good; very good, even.  If you’re a paying player looking to pick something up this month, he’s not a bad choice.  But if you’re not?  If you’re saving for anniversary?  Why break for him?  What’s he offering that doesn’t exist elsewhere?  Is this necessary?  And if it is...do you need anything beyond 1/5?

So... my pitch for a young, all queer, X-Men Team?
Tumblr media
[ID: a collage of 7 marvel characters including Bling! or Roxy Washington, Morph or Benjamin Deeds, Leo Eng, Cam Long, Escapade or Shela Sexton, Speed or Tommy Shepherd, and Prodigy or David Alleyne]
this is just a silly little idea of mine that I thought to share, I don't know the exact ages of these characters but I'm assuming they are all approximately around the same age at this point, as in, somewhere in between the ages of 17 and 24? I guess? Marvel doesn't do well with ages, or timelines in general.
Bling! is tough, nearly indestructible, she's pretty powerful too. She has determination and attitude, and I think she deserves to be on a team for once.
David is super smart, filled with plenty of knowledge and skills, but he's not just smart- he also has can copy skills useful in physical combat, which makes him pretty useful in a battle as well. Not only that, but he has a lot of experience, he's been on the Young Avengers, as well as X-Factor, where he worked aside very powerful and skilled adults like Northstar, Polaris, Akihiro, and Rachel Summers- I can kind of see him and Tommy taking the lead on this team in an unconventional way.
I know Tommy isn't an X-Men character, I don't know if he's even considered a mutant? Which is fine, he doesn't have to be a mutant (Wasn't Mimic not a mutant? that one guy who was on the team one time back in the day? or was that retconned? i have no idea.), he's dating David, which means he could have a reason to move onto Krakoa, and either way he has a lot of shared experiences with mutants, being born with his powers and all. ANYWAYS he, like David, has lots of experience, and is pretty powerful. I think every team should have a resident speedster. plus marvel seems to be continuously ignoring Tommy lately, so I think he deserves to have something to do for once!
Shela is still learning to control her powers, but she seems to be getting better and better at it! And her powers can be quite useful, plus she has some experience of being a low level thief, which is awesome and could absolutely come in handy. and she has some cool tech that can help her fly?
Benji's powers aren't always useful, but he does seem to have some training from back when he was at the New Xavier School with Cyclops in charge. He and Nate have mysteriously disappeared since 2019, so it would be nice for him to come back. Nathaniel could also be an honorary member of the team who helps with stuff that isn't fighting, like using his psychometry to get information from people. PLUS Benji already has experience working with Bling!
Cam Long is a feral jock, they're currently doing Bishop's War College, but maybe they can be on the team when they get some time off.
Leo Eng is a telepath, which I think is a necessity for every team. She also seems to be a pretty powerful telekinetic? she's honestly giving trans butch lesbian vibes which I think is amazing.
Leo and Cam would be fun characters to have on a team for the first time, since they're fairly new and undeveloped, it would be an opportunity to explore them.

Reading your thoughts on TWSITD and I can’t help but agree that the fact they’re presented as this unambiguously evil monolith instead of like, an actual cult/society/place where people actually LIVE is a missed opportunity. My kingdom for a storyline where there’s an Agarthan parallel to Edelgard and Claude—a revolutionary who knows their people could be so much MORE but the current system needs to burn so they can build something better.
yesss that would’ve been so COOL, there’d be so much room to play with all the complications of taking down a cult/similar. Plus, it grants the opportunity to introduce a wonderfully complex character to the mix—an Agarthan who not only wants their people to prosper, but who recognizes that the Agarthans are being kept from prospering due to their leaders.
Imagine them trying to convince their friends/family to help them in their endeavor (“We don’t have to keep following them, we can leave, life can be so much better for us”) only to be met with mixed responses. Some think they’re out of their mind or just being disastrously naïve, some understand their reasoning but aren’t willing to take the risk (“This life is already good enough, it has to be – it’s safer like this”). The Agarthan character cares about these people, a lot of them are folks they've grown up with; they can’t just lay them all upon the altar to achieve their dream.
Maybe the Agarthan is someone who snuck out of the underground on their own out of curiosity, or maybe they got lost while on an aboveground mission—point is, they started noticing differences between how they’d been taught to view the aboveground world and how it really is. Like a “damn, we’ve been missing out on all this?” sort of revelation. Making some aboveground friends would also be a good way to help change their worldview, get them a glimpse into outside cultures, etc.
Obviously they’d have a lot of internal back-and-forth on whether it’s actually worse Out There, trying to figure out how much they’ve been taught is true, all the while being fed the same propaganda and discouraged from questioning it. The actual topic of leaving would be even harder to work through, especially if all Agarthans have access to some sweet tech like what we see in Shambhala—a lot of them might not have many skills they could use to make a living in outside society. Once the thread’s been snagged, though, there’s little else to do but unravel.
The topside isn’t nearly as dangerous as it’s been made out to be. So why does their government keep saying it is? They’re supposed to be fighting to topple the Church so they can reclaim the surface, but there are already plenty of people up there—some who aren’t familiar with the Church, some who don’t even care. So why do they have to stay underground? Why do they have to keep fighting a battle that is slowly seeming less and less necessary?
Rotating in my brain at a very fast speed is the idea of this hypothetical Agarthan interacting with Rhea, Seteth, and Flayn (assuming they know they’re an Agarthan). Flayn is pretty compassionate and probably the most willing to get along with them of the three, but like…damn, there’s still a lot to unpack there. They might be able to appeal to Seteth a little through a “I don’t want to fight you, I just want to make things better for my friends/family” sort of reasoning; Flayn means the world to him, and though he’s not inclined to trust a descendant of the ones who put them through so much, he can at least empathize with wanting the best for your loved ones. As for Rhea…ngl I don’t see it going well under most circumstances. They would probably need Seteth, Flayn, and Byleth on their side for Rhea to be anything other than 100% paranoid.
Interacting with the three of them would probably be good for the Agarthan, though, considering how Nabateans seem to be viewed by them at large. They go in thinking about all the times they’ve heard the Children of the Goddess described as monsters, how they can’t be trusted, how they’re a blight upon Fódlan, but…dude. These are just people? These are just people. Sure sure they can turn into dragons or whatever, but [waving arm at Flayn] that is a CHILD?
sorry for the ramble but man, that kinda storyline would’ve been both excellent and very compelling considering how well it ties into the overarching theme of “good people can still find themselves on opposing sides of a conflict”

Sonic you're the hedgehog of disaster. You bring nothing but danger and death.
You got your owl 🦉 mum killed because you couldn't follow a simple instruction of hiding your speed. When you fled to earth you caused a blackout by using your power irresponsibly which alerted the government to your presence. While fleeing you hid in Tom's shed, forcing him to hide you from a government agent.
You also guilt tripped him into driving your fugitive ass to San Francisco , causing him to be labelled as a fugitive by the government , over something that was your own fault. This put him in danger of facing serious jail time or worse. You also almost got him killed in a bar brawl you started after you refused to stay in the car like he asked. Your actions put not only Tom in danger, but his family as well. Tom and Maddie almost died in the battle with Jimbotnik all because of you. You're a danger to everyone around you.
Sonic's ears, then his head, then the rest of him seemed to sag with every word the stranger spoke, and he looked to be on the verge of tears. Had he been alone, he probably would've let them fall sooner and sat there hugging his knees.
But he wasn't alone.
Tom Wachowski hated seeing his kid like this, and having heard the harsh words (which upset him, too) decided to take over. He came right over, sat down and put a protective arm around Sonic, pulling the hedgehog close to his side.
"I got this one." the man said. He was met only with a nod and Sonic's face pressing against him. Tom gave him a shoulder squeeze and turned back to the stranger.
"Okay, pal, lot to unpack here. First up, her name was Longclaw, and you seem to forget, Sonic was only 3 or 4, if that, when that happened. You show me a three or four-year-old that perfectly follows every instruction they get 24/7/365. Doesn't exist for normal kids. Now add in the speed. Running. Let me tell you, there's not a kid in the world that could resist running if they had that kind of speed. I know I wouldn't have. I would've done the same thing Sonic did. It's what kids that age do. They run. They run and play and make adults wish we had that kind of energy."
"As for the blackout, it was an accident, because Sonic didn't fully understand his powers. He didn't know what all he was capable of, and he didn't really understand how his emotions affected his abilities. My niece has made us watch Frozen enough times to hammer into my head that someone with powers needs to be taught to control and understand them, not to hide them. Hiding them usually results in something bad, especially when their feelings are involved. That's what happened when Elsa got upset at her sister, and that's what happened when Sonic got upset that he was basically robbed of his childhood. Not saying Longclaw did it on purpose, because I don't think she did. She was half right, that people did want Sonic's power. But she was wrong in thinking that's ALL anyone would want. She was wrong to think someone wouldn't want Sonic himself, to love him for who he is and teach him not to be afraid of himself or his abilities. His gifts."
"As for my shed, that wasn't Sonic's fault at all. That was mine. Maddie told me not to use her tranq gun for anything, but I did. And I pulled the trigger, not Sonic. And you seem to forget, Robotnik was SHOOTING MY HOUSE FULL OF BULLETS. I knew the guy was bad news when he tried to give me that electric company bullcrap. Even more so when he forced his way into my house without proof of ID or a warrant. And as Sonic told me afterward, he sent drones into my house while I was talking with him. I wasn't giving the guy anything. Especially not a living being. I was labeled a fugitive because I did what anybody would when a crazy guy breaks into your house and shoots at you with some kind of high tech probably military drones with intent to kill. It was on that trip I figured out Sonic was just a scared, lonely kid. No way in hell was I gonna let the feds murder a kid. I took him because it felt like it was the right thing to do. And you know what? It was one of the best things I ever did. Bar fight? My fault. I left the doors unlocked with the windows down and I knocked into the person who started the fight. Sonic actually saved me there. And Maddie chose to come with us to get the rings. It was Sonic who made me see that I didn't need to go be a big city cop to make a difference, to be the 'hero cop' or whatever. I was already doing that, I just didn't see it. So, stranger, you might think he's a danger to everyone. But to me? Aside from my wife-" Tom pulled Sonic into his lap and hugged the alien close, Sonic returning the embrace, "-this little hedgehog is the best thing that ever happened to me. And I love him. So if you have a problem with that, too bad and get out of my house. And don't ever talk to my son like that again. And don't try talking to any of my other kids that way either." A little sniffle was heard from Tom's chest.
"I love you, too, Dad." Sonic croaked out, his voice breaking. He then hid his face in his father's chest again. The harsh words couldn't reach him here. He was safe. His dad's love and strong, warm arms made it so.

Looking at the new pairs from the datamine :)
This is JUST looking at the kits, not necessarily stats or grids. Lots of techs this time around.
SS Hilda & Victini
She’s a physical fire striker again... Her moves seem pretty lackluster, but her self-buffing is where she shines. Max attack when entering battle, and then max crit rate and sp.atk after her Trainer Move. Recharging the move gauge after attacking is also nice to help off-set her 4-gauge move. I expect her grid will have nodes for increasing damage against burned and/or confused enemies.
I’ll be honest, I’m not a fan of Downside Up on units that already max their stats; I feel like Downside Up is more interesting as a scaling mechanic to increase a pair’s power as they use moves that would otherwise debuff them. At least on SS Steven, not all of his forms maxed his stats; but on SS Hilda, it just seems like it’s functioning as a slightly better Impervious.
SS Hilbert & Genesect
This is an... interesting way to incorporate Genesect’s forms. Basically: his attack move is bug type, unless the target is weak to fire, water, electric, or ice, in which case his move becomes that type. I saw people predicting Genesect’s forms being similar to SS Steven’s, where you choose which type you want at the beginning, but I think this is actually a smart way to let Genesect keep its Bug strength alongside the other types; the rebuffs and Supereffective Up on the Trainer Move are also nice touches. The major drawback to this pair is gauge usage and set up time, but the right team can off-set that easily, and I suspect he’ll some grid nodes to help.
SS N & Black Kyurem
This took me a bit to parse, but I think it’s interesting overall. You essentially just want to cycle between Freeze Shock and B Noble Roar, with Freeze Shock being a slow but powerful move with a relatively high chance of paralysis and B Noble debuffing the opponents, buffing yourself, and enabling more Freeze Shocks with Free Move Next. And if you don’t feel like doing that, then Ice Beam is there to freeze as well. Lowering the sync countdown by 2 is a decent way to offset the loss from Freeze Shock being a two turn move. I definitely don’t think this pair is for everyone (definitely not for me), but I think he’ll find a niche for Legendary Gauntlet.
Colress & Klinklang
My first thought is that this is an upgraded BP Clemont. I think it’s interesting that he can set up the debuffs he needs on the opponents, but requires his teammates to buff most of the stats he himself needs; somewhat reminiscent of his character in the games. A pretty straightforward pair compared to the previous ones: debuff the opponents and then attack.
Hugh & Bouffalant
I think this matches his character tbh. A somewhat self-sufficient recoil striker with a chance to remove recoil damage overall, and who heals before fainting the first time. Pretty straight forward I think. I like it. Not much else to say.
Lyra & Vaporeon
Love this for her actually. A support-ish tech with infinite rain using her sync. She’s mostly focused on heavily debuffing the enemy and improving team gauge with speed and low gauge moves. Even if she isn’t great at taking hits, that team wide Vigilance at base is nice. The only downside to her rain after sync is that it’s hard to get her sync in during the rain itself (similar to Silver’s issue with Solarize), but that’s minor. The most unfortunate thing is that she doesn’t appear to have an EX, which kind of sucks for a tech that really likes to sync.
Kris & Jolteon
Very similar to Lyra in being a tech with infinite zone after sync and decent team support; I expect Flareon will have Solarize at base. Kris’s less focused on debuffs though, and is predictably built for paralyzing opponents. Tbh, I feel like this kit is nothing special for an electric pair; the best she brings is Team Electric Current, aka a teamwide Impervious during Electric Terrain. Paralysis pairs are always good for Legendary Gauntlet though, so she won’t be bad to have on hand for that.
Lucas & Flareon
Yep, here’s the Solarize. Parallels the previous two pairs, but with a focus on burns. His TM is almost the inverse of Kris’s, boosting his own crit rate and raising the sp. atk of the team. I think he’s somewhere between Lyra and Kris in terms of usefulness. Nothing too special, but I can see him at least having use in the Stadium.
Elesa & Joltik
My hopes are dashed and my life is ruined.
Mostly kidding. Mostly. She doesn’t pair well with SC Ingo and Emmet at all. She’s mostly a self-sustaining support against and with Special Attack focused teams. Not super impressed with her kit honestly, but it seems in line with a lodge unit. Her team buffs aren’t super great, and it’s pretty unfortunate that she can’t buff her own self-healing, outside of maybe crit rate. Having Recuperation is kind of a wasted passive imo; there’s no real reason to sync with her otherwise. I would probably think better of her if she were a bug pair, but for an electric pair she’s pretty lackluster and can’t even paralysis. But who knows, maybe her grid saves her.

Splinterlands Monster Highlight Featuring TRAPP FALLOWAY smashing to a victory
Tumblr media
Featuring Bronze League Summoner and Monsters in Action!
I am back with another awesome monster highlight. This was from a very recent battle in the past couple of days and I'm excited to share it because it's the first time I was able to really utilize and dominate a match with Trapp Falloway.
Tumblr media
Weekly Challenge -TRAPP FALLOWAY
Tumblr media
Edition: GLADIUS Rarity: EPIC Element: DEATH Attack: MELEE Abilities: BLOODLUST Abilities" WEAKEN Health: 5 Speed: 4 Attack: 4 Armor: Reasons Why I like it
I think Trapp Falloway it's very unique card. Having a four melee attack combined with a speed of four and a half of 5 all will only cost you four mana is unique. This means it could be used in Little League games and other low mana matches where you typically don't have heavy hitters like this. The two abilities of both weekend and bluff bus work together surprisingly effectively we can go drop your bullets off of bloodlust means every time you get a knockout you start adding one to your stats. Considering where you start for speeding attack it doesn't take long before you will be delivering to the pretty vicious blows. The biggest weakness I see and no armor makes it a bit prone to getting knocked out before I can get a roll
The Matchup - Where Rules Sets, Splinters and Mana Collide
The Rule Sets
Tumblr media
Watch the Match Here
MANA: 34
Ruleset: Equalizer: All monsters start with the same health, based on the highest health in either team.
Ruleset: Super Sneak: All Melee monsters gain the sneak ability.
SPLINTERS: Fire, Water, Life, Death
Initial Rule Set and Mana Gameplay Thoughts
Rulesets I think the rule sets are probably going to impact this match the most. Having super sneak allowing all monsters Disney tech opens up the playing field to melee card that would normally otherwise be ignored. Make a lot of great teams with fire water and death. Especially water with inspire and really make some of those little memory cards much more powerful with armor. Equalizer also means that some lower mana cards when I will be much more difficult to get through with everyone should have the same amount of health.. Mana Heaven only 16 mana to pick your monsters will definitely limit this matchup. More than likely to fill it a full team it will require a lot of zero one and two men of monsters with a few bigger more powerful monsters. I think the 16 mana still plays well mostly with fire water death Splinters
Not having dragon or Earth is not a deal-breaker in this matchup, although I could see where people would prefer to play Earth with some of their thorns and low mana monsters. I still think this will be a fairly good matchup with anything available splinters.
Summoner OCTAVIA SHADOWMELD I chose Octavia because I wanted to play Trapp Falloway. I've been waiting for a while to find a good magic to play it and chose this opportunity it was unfortunate that I had to spend the extra mana on the summer
First Position CHAOS AGENT Who doesn't love a good Chaos agent after it gets help boost if it's Dodge hoping to keep it around in first position for a while allowing the rest of monsters to attack
Second Position CURSED SLIMEBALL Will not a typical powerhouse, it's very slow and doesn't deal much damage but it only cost one mana so I think it's a great second position card
Third Position CORPSE FIEND Corpse fiend goes in as well since it's a zero mana, so far I'm not really dealing much damage out but I'm pretty happy getting so much health and that line up
Fourth Position TRAPP FALLOWAY This is the heavy hitter of the group, should be first to attack do the most damage and hopefully build some impressive stance of bloodlust.
Fifth Position CARRION SHADE Really turns powerful and equalizer, will only having two speed the flying tends to create several misses and having five health mean to stick around for
Sixth Position CRYPT BEETLE And last but not least, creepy Hill is an amazing place here because it has Shield. It will be only taking half the damage and it has armor Plus boosted health. I'll let all those melee monsters sneak attack on this guy for a while.
Tumblr media
Opponent Lineup & Match Play
Summoner TARSA Typical play, fires a great one since you get a boost to melee damage
RADIATED SCORCHER Another solid play here, having shatter and first position means it cleaning heavily on The fosters
KOBOLD BRUISER A pretty heavy hitting monster especially after the summoner boost. It's a great play
SERPENTINE SPY Military solid play feeling three damage and opportunity means my opponent it is pretty heavily.
URAEUS another great heavy hitting 3 mana monster. With at least one armor.
BATTERING RAM After the summer boost battery around becomes another formidable foe doing two damage with opportunity.
SCORCH FIEND Solid gentleman of monster play. Clearly not the strongest and mostly just to absorb hits.
Round 1
Tumblr media
Just looking at the teams before everything starts I'm feeling a little underpowered versus my opponent who seems to have a lot of damage dealers team, the only good thing for me is that my summoner has taken away one health and Trapp Falloway has offset there's someone who's boost leaving them all with poor health.. But as the round starts I get to attack first and Trapp Falloway knocks out it's first card and gets his first bloodlust. His round one ends I score my second knockout with none other than cursed slime ball, my weakest gets lowest attacker.
Round 2
Tumblr media
It's around two starts my opponent still has more cards dealing more damage, but I have a card that is able to deliver a single knockout blow to everyone of their cards. It's round two plays out I get lucky with a miss on Carrion Shade preventing it from being knocked out.
Round 3
Tumblr media
At the start of round 3 I have more cards, but many of mine are close to being knocked out. Once again speed and power kills and I get to go first. That means that will score another knockout with Trapp Falloway and get to trigger my second bloodlust of the match I get another Miss on Chaos agent before losing another card leaving trap alone at the back.
Round 4
Tumblr media
Ground floor starts and it's becoming almost routine now. Trapp Falloway goes first, get to knock out, and adds to its stats. After this knockout I'm dealing seven damage with seven speed and I'm at five health.
Round 5
Tumblr media
Around five starts and I am close to being knocked out. The only positive thing is given my speed and my attack I will get rid of cobalt bruiser before it can attack me and knock me out. Another boost puts me to 8 damage and speed with three health.
Round 6
Tumblr media
I scored my last and final knockout match as well as the victory knockout and push track to a nine attack 9-speed with for health.
Thoughts - and Chances to Win Again
Tumblr media
Looks like I'm an 89% favorite to win, I assume this has to do with the RNG and the misses I had on both Chaos agent and Carrion Shade. If my opponent hit every attack then I believe I would lose before I had a chance to build up my stats. It looks like maybe I should have had Trapp in third position vs fourth to increase my odds of winning to 100%. I'll have to consider that for the next time and put more protection on the back end to allow it to build more stats.

Russell admits he expected to be a race winner at this stage of the season
George Russell may be on a streak of seven consecutive top-five finishes – but the Briton has admitted that he expected more from the first few races of his rookie season with Mercedes. The eight-time constructors’ champions haven’t enjoyed their usual dominant start to the season, the team having picked up 134 points to Ferrari’s 199 as they sit third in the championship ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Russell said he was pleased with his own performances, even if he hasn’t chalked up a win just yet. READ MORE: Wolff believes 'the pendulum will swing' in Hamilton's favour after string of 'unlucky situations' “I think if you told me prior to the season that we'd be seven races in and I wouldn't have a victory to my name, I would have definitely been a bit disappointed with that. But I think given the pace of the car and given where we've been as a team, I've been reasonably pleased with how I've performed. I think the results have been maximised. “I don’t see many races where we could have achieved better results, but we've definitely got room to improve. You are constantly striving for more when you understand the car more, the tyres more. And, you know, I want to fight for this championship. “We’ve got to go against the likes of Max [Verstappen] at Red Bull and obviously Charles [Leclerc] is doing an extra extremely good job at the moment with Ferrari. But as a team, we just need to keep on pushing – I need to keep on pushing personally. So, more to come.” 2022 Spanish Grand Prix: Verstappen and Russell battle for P2 Looking ahead to Azerbaijan, Russell added that the low-speed Monaco circuit highlighted some of the Mercedes’ weaknesses – the team's Trackside Engineering Director Andrew Shovlin adding that their issues might be similar this weekend at Baku. “We encountered some of the limitations of our car at [Monaco],” said Russell. “But we've learned a lot and can put that to good use in the coming weeks to take another step forward. Overall, [P5 was] a decent result and I'm confident that we've got stronger days ahead of us.” TECH TUESDAY: Why Monaco proved tough for Mercedes – and why Silverstone could be their next best bet Shovlin added: “Certainly, it was a lot harder to get the car to work around Monaco than it was in Barcelona. In Barcelona we had shown that we had good race pace, even though we know there is still work to do to close the gap to Red Bull and to Ferrari but the challenge of Monaco is the low-speed nature, it’s a very bumpy circuit and we were struggling with the ride of the car. “Baku might present some similar challenges; we are working on areas though to try and improve that ride, try and be able to run the car a bit closer to its optimum window but we are well aware that in addition to adding base performance to the car, we’ve got to make it work over a wider range of circuits. So, these are all things that we are busy with in the next week in preparation for Baku but also longer term, because there are other challenging tracks that will come up.” via Formula 1 News https://www.formula1.com

I like to hc that ME3 takes place over 3 years. Which I know is definitely not how it comes across in-game.
The thing is, there’s very little in canon on the timeline of ME3. We know almost exactly when the war starts thanks to ANN Information Partners: the batarian exodus is September 21st and the fall of Taetrus is September 28th, so the Fall the Earth is likely within a couple days of Taetrus, give or take. Aside from that, there are a few implications in-game that the war both starts and ends in 2186. Sometime during or after the Battle of Rannoch, Hackett says that Earth fell only a few weeks prior. During shore leave, someone on the strip mentions it’s still 2186 (granted the Citadel DLC can be played anytime after the Cerberus coup). All this would be the say the war takes place over only a few months.
I just can’t buy this timeline. All my musings are under the cut.
I used to only hc that the Reaper War was 1 year long. The 3-year thought came from a recent interview with Chris Hepler (the “loremaster” who wrote the Codex). The way he envisioned the war, he wanted to set the Reaper’s harvesting rate so that 2 billion of Earth’s 11 billion humans would be processed by the game’s end. He settled on 1.86 million people processed per day, which puts the war at almost 3 years exactly if there are 2 billion dead by the end. Obviously there was never a consensus within Bioware what the timeline was if Hepler was thinking 3 years and the writer behind Hackett’s dialog put Rannoch a few weeks into the game.
The galaxy would definitely be a hot mess after sustaining the Reaper War for 3 years. The game already has the volus predicting economic collapse if the war continues beyond a year. But everything should be a hot mess -- it's war on an apocalyptic scale, and I find 3 years far more believable than 3 months.
First there’s a very mundane reason I’ll get out of the way: the bulk of every ME game’s timeline would be spent in FTL travel. Citadel ships can reach speeds of 12 ly/day (and I think ME:A’s Tempest is claimed to be the fastest at 13 ly/day). Several real life nebulas make an appearance in ME’s galaxy map, like the Eagle Nebula, whose main cluster has a diameter of 30 ly. Even if we ignore that Shepard points out half the journey is spent accelerating and half decelerating (like in The Expanse), i.e. they’re not instantaneously traveling at top speed, it could still easily take several days to bounce between the different systems of a given cluster, if not a week or two.
But that’s not a very interesting reason for 3 years of war. For me it comes down to the Crucible and the Battle of Earth.
The Crucible is ENORMOUS. They had no head start on building the thing. They only just discovered the blueprints at the start of the war. It doesn’t have any canon dimensions, but we know from seeing it dock with the Citadel that each of its “legs” is as long as the radius of the Presidium, which is somewhere in the realm of 6 km (the Codex gives the Citadel an “open” diameter of 12.8 km, so I’m guessing that’s a reference to the circle created by the arms, which is a bit wider than the ring). For comparison, the largest present-day ships (oil tankers) can easily take over a year to construct, and that's driven by the motivation of one of the greediest industries on the planet. That doesn’t count the delays that inevitably come up…the largest tanker in the world, ~450m long, took five years to build. In the case of the Crucible, even with the threat of extinction as their motivation, and even with the mass effect and other future construction tech, it’s still going to take a long freaking time to build based on its size alone.
And then there’s the Battle of Earth. It’s not exactly something you go into half-cocked -- I mean it takes a LOT of planning and coordination for a military operation on that scale and when the stakes could not be higher. It’s a foregone conclusion that if they lose the Battle of Earth, they’ll never have a chance like that again. This is the make or break point in the war, with an apt comparison in the Battle of Normandy. That battle was absolutely crucial to the Allies' future in WWII. And like the Battle of Earth, it was a massively coordinated joint operation between several nations and thousands of ships.
Planning and preparation for Normandy began one year before the invasion. The Battle of Earth would take just as much careful planning, never mind that the variables keep changing as Shepard brings more allies into the fold as the war goes on.
Anyway, that’s my longwinded hc behind the duration of ME3, and why I’m onboard with Hepler’s idea of a 3 year war.

You know, while I could never imagine Tobey becoming a full on hero if he decided to quit villainy (at most he'd be Becky tech guy) the it's of him creating gadgets for the police to use do that Becky would have more free time if actually a really interesting idea. I could see a lot of the villains hating the fact that the actual police start capturing them since I'm pretty sure half of them commit crime just for the thrill of fighting WG.
I totally agree! While Becky helped pull him from villainy, Tobey's still Tobey, and I don't think being a full on hero is his speed lmao. I think the only time he himself might go into battle is if Wordgirl is in dire trouble, but for the most part, Tobey just stays in the shadows building technology to try to make the love of his life's day-to-day easier (especially as the two get older and Becky is trying to pursue college and her writing career).
I'd imagine even with the technology, it would take many many years for the police of the city to get good enough to be fully self-sufficient (especially with more powerful villains like DTB). However, even if they become nearly self-sufficient, Wordgirl still always tries to make a few special fight appearances because she too loves the thrill of fighting the supervillains :)
