if there was one thing to know about you, you absolutely loved to tease your girlfriend. and if there was one thing to know about your girlfriend, aitana, she absolutely hated it when you teased her.

aitana was just the cutest person ever, you just couldn’t help but tease her at any and every possible moment.

she claimed that she hated it but you knew her amused smile and glint in her eye was full of affection, much like your teasing manner with her.

you and aitana played with one another in the spanish youth teams, you were always really good friends but your relationship didn’t really progress until you moved out of spain.

you moved to england in 2014 to gain different skills to adapt to your own style of playing. it was difficult being far from home, away from everyone and everything you knew, but it was worth it.

as it turns out, you moving away caused you to reconnect with the love of your life just two years later.

when aitana saw saw you again in barcelona in 2016, she could’ve sworn she went into cardiac arrest when she saw you. you felt the same, you’d always ogled over aitana over the years and it was no different in the present.

aitana always thought you were gorgeous but god..something about you being in england had made you even more beautiful. to say she was head over heels was an understatement.

when you came back home and aitana stuck to you like glue, you couldn’t help but fall in love with her every day. she was beautiful, funny, caring, everything. you both settled into a relationship quickly after a tipsy night out with the team after a win in 2018.

a stumbling aitana passing your teammates on the way to you and mapi sitting in a booth made you giggle. she was smiling brightly and waving at you, excited to see you in the bar even though she had been with you the whole day.

you watch her affectionately until she reaches you, planting herself sidewards on your lap. she wraps an arm around your neck while you sling one of yours around her waist.

she smiles down at you with a giggle and you can’t help but admire how pretty she looks. she’s a little tipsy, claiming she was on a ‘buzz’ that she was pleased about.

“hola, pollito (little chicken)” you chuckle brightly when she tugs herself closer to your body, basically pressed up against you.

aitana rolls her eyes amusingly and moves a hand up to pinch your cheek, “you’re not that much taller than me, shorty” she teases, you huff out a laugh, “still taller” you sing out.

“i’m older” she mocks your tone, “by two weeks” you say cheekily, you pinch her thigh gently and she lets out a little yelp at the contact, placing a hand over yours and pressing it to her thigh.

you convince her to have some water and she seems a lot more coherent, she’s still perched up on your lap and you don’t miss the smirks being sent your way when you two are in your little bubble.

you both chat about random subjects while she cuddles into you, now resting her head against yours and holding the arm that’s resting on her thigh.

“can i tell you a secret?” aitana whispers in your ear, you hum with a nod, “i love you” she says so softly, you almost can’t hear her.

your eyes are wide when she pulls back to look at you for your reaction, you’re shocked but the heart eyes were evident for both of you, “i love you too” you exhale, “but you’re a little intoxicated and i’m scared you won’t remember this” you admit, moving to grab her hand gently as you look at her.

she frowns a little, kissing your left cheek, “i’ll prove it to you” she demands, kissing your right cheek quickly and looking at you with a cheeky grin.

“okay, pequeña (little) tana” you croon, hugging her tightly before you took her home, a designated driver for tonight.

aitana did prove it to you the next day, arriving at your house bright and early with a bright grin and a bouquet of flowers in hand.

“tana?” you say surprisingly, you were both going to training but it wasn’t for hours. she was here so early you were genuinely shocked.

“hi” she says shyly, handing you the flowers with a sheepish grin. you smile and move forward to pull the girl into a tight hug, she immediately reciprocates and melts into your body, “i remember everything, i love you” she says fulls of confidence as you held her, you smile and kiss her cheek sweetly,

“i love you too” you sigh in relief. “chiquitín (little one)” you say cheekily, she immediately groans and squeezes you, complaints spilling from her lips as you hold onto her tightly while she tries to escape from your arms.

you’ve now been dating for over 7 years, moving in together in a house full of complete infatuation. aitana was fully convinced that your teasing would be reduced to a minimum, but unfortunately for her, it only got worse.

you were both in training, aitana currently in the gym and training with keira while you ‘train’ weights, definition: you ogling her while ona reminds you to lift the dumbbell in your hands every couple of minutes.

it was until ona begged you to just go and flirt with your girlfriend, sick of you sending her longing gazes from across the room.

you went over without a second thought. “hermosa (beautiful)” you sing out, aitana pauses her movements and looks at you with a raised eyebrow, “what do you want?” she narrows her eyes at you, you scoff, “sorry?” you cross your arms over your chest looking down at her with a little glare.

“you’re not mentioning my height or anything and you’ve been standing here for at least a minute” she states simply, almost like it was obvious.

“tana, bebé (baby), why can’t i express my love for you in a sweet nickname without you thinking i’m teasing you?” you smirk, aitana shakes her head at you and analyses your face, truly thinking you wanted something from her, but it was honestly just her attention that you wanted.

“keira, tell aitana that i don’t always tease her” you grin at keira, she laughs in your face while she looks between the two of you, “but you do?” keira chuckles, you gasp offendedly, a hand clutching at your chest as aitana high fives keira, nodding at her with a satisfied laugh.

“see?” aitana grins, you roll your eyes, about to argue back until you needed to go outside for training.

and of course, as soon as you got the opportunity to, your regular teasing routine started, meaning aitana was about to give an oscar worthy performance.

your hands are on her waist as you stand behind her during a water break, she’s sipping her water while listening to some strategies for the next play.

after it was finished, you move your hands and wrap your arms around her waist, pulling her flush against your front. you tuck your face into the crook of her neck, pressing a gentle kiss there.

you grin into her skin when you feel her tense against you, “amor (love)” she breathes out warningly, you map out kisses along her neck and her breath hitches, her cheeks flushing red when you wouldn’t stop.

“you okay, bebé? (baby)” you mumble in her ear, she swallows and holds your arm wrapped around her, squeezing it gently in an attempt to scold you but you knew she loved it.

you laugh softly in her ear and chills travel up her spine, she can’t produce a response, too focused on regulating her shallow breathing as your lips graze just on her pulse point.

then you suddenly pull away from her, leaving her dazed as she watches you move past her to grab your water bottle.

you look at her and wink, “chiquitín (little one)” you smirk, she slaps your shoulder quickly, “you’re so annoying” she grumbles, you look down at her lovingly, kissing her quickly on the lips,

“you love it” you cheese out, she rolls her eyes but you don’t miss the hint of a smile playing at her lips, “no i don’t” she pointed, flicking your forehead quickly and trying not to laugh when you flinched, moving to kiss you quickly before returning to training.

everyone was walking back to the change room after training, you’re walking behind ona and aitana as they chatted, until ona wrapped around an arm around aitana’s shoulder and you knew it was your time to shine.

“don’t touch my ballon d’Or winner” you run behind and sweep aitana into a bridal style hold, she yelps in fear when she’s thrusted into your arms, letting out a slight breath of relief when she realised it was you.

“she’s precious cargo, batlle, the ground doesn’t even deserve her presence, she arrives in style” you croon, looking down at her affectionately, aitana throws you a half hearted glare, “put. me. down” she breaks down the sentence, you shake your head at her and she gives you a stern expression.

you groan and put her down, pushing away a laughing ona as your girlfriend immediately began to scold you. numerous words of: “you’re so silly, stop teasing me, stop bringing it up” etc, the whole works, you got it.

after aitana’s little rant, she looks up to see your reaction to see you slightly pouting, so by instinct, she kisses you gently and you immediately stop walking, gripping her hips tightly and pressing her against you.

she gasps in surprise at the sudden shift, slightly grinning at the thought of you faking being upset just to get a kiss.

you pull away with a satisfied smile with a final peck to her lips, slapping her behind quickly and running off from a now screaming aitana, reprimanding you from afar while you attempt to hide from your girlfriend.

“pequeña (little) tana! you’re hot,” you whistle as she changes into her jersey in the change rooms, preparing for a match.

“stop” she glares, you shake your head with a smile, “no” you tease, “any chance for a quickie in the bathroom?” you whisper in her ear, she gasps and slaps your arm,

“(y/n) (y/l/n)” she closes her eyes and prods her cheek with her tongue, you give her a sloppy kiss on the cheek and she shoves you off her.

“if you don’t kiss me properly, you get none for a whole week” she threatens, pointing a finger at you and you grin at her.

she’d never do that and you both know it, “hm okay” you mumble, pulling her into a passionate kiss, leaving both of you absolutely breathless when you pull away from the protests of your teammates.

while she walks in front of you towards the tunnel, you cheekily slap her behind again and she huffs in frustration, not even bothering to turn around.

barcelona was in the front by 4-0, aitana scoring two of the goals. it reaches towards the end of the match when you hear it, “move, shorty” aitana’s defender pulls on the back of her shirt and ends up making her stumble to the floor.

you run up to her marker and give her a shove to the chest, “excuse me? do you want to say that again?” you emphasised, the marker looks at you in shock, looking down at a now sheepish looking aitana.

“huh? you talk shit about my girl and expect nothing to happen?” you shove her again, aitana gets up now, placing a hand on your chest to gently push you away, “i hear another word from you and you’re in for it” you warn, yelling over aitana’s head as she pushes you further. the ref interrupts your tangent and holds a yellow card over your head and you chuckle.

“stop it” she pleads, hands moving to your shoulders and giving you a gentle squeeze, “okay, sorry” you nod, kissing her cheek repeatedly before moving off from her and back to your position.

barcelona wins and the players are going around exchanging handshakes, you shake the hand of aitana’s marker nonetheless, not without giving her an icy glare, making the girl falter and move off from you as quick as she could.

aitana crosses her arms with a frown as she watches you approach her with a bright grin, “you go to england and come back getting yellow cards” she scolds, you laugh and kiss her cheek,

“hm, years and years ago” you entertain her, your arm around her shoulder as you walk towards awaiting fans. you take pictures and sign things together, fangirling along with aitana’s fans when they’d talk to her.

“i know, she’s so amazing” you say proudly, talking along with a fan while she raves to aitana how great she is, aitana pinches your waist and you smile down at her,

“okay, i need to get mijita (my little child) home, it’s almost past her bedtime” you grin at the fans, aitana gasps and smacks the back of your head. you laugh brightly and smile affectionately at her. you both say goodbye before she walks quickly in front of you and you have to run to catch up to her.

“so annoying” she gives you a gentle shove and you move right back next to her. she rolls her eyes when you kiss the crown of her head, moving to hold your hand and interlaces your fingers together. no matter how much you tease her, she can’t resist you.

“you love me” you grin, “unfortunately” she shrugs, you squeeze her hand and she giggles.

“i love you” she smiles, “i love you” you kiss her quickly before dragging her towards the change rooms. “shorty” you whisper in her ear, running into the change room with an angry aitana hot on your trail.

like seriously unOrdinary has been going on since 2016 while TOG has been going on since 2014, wanna know how long Homestuck was going on for? 2009-2016, what about the god of high school!??? 2014-2022

To the anon who said that the last time they couldn’t connect with Taylor was during the original 1989 era, I felt the same way back then and I’m starting to feel it again now. I’ve been a fan of her music since 2009 but ever since 2014 I’ve had a difficult time calling myself a ‘swiftie’. I think how we both felt at the time was common sentiment brewing among the general public, which is why 2016 happened.

Swifties go on about ‘overexposure’ and ‘misogyny’ being why the world turned on her, but I really don’t think 2016 happened in a vacuum. The general public were already sick of the sight of her ‘girl squad’ and million boyfriends, and her white feminism came across as self serving and out of touch even back then. She was completely silent on the 2016 election, and being a blonde, blue eyed country singer it was easy for the general public to assume she voted red even if it wasn’t true. Kimye just gave people a valid reason to say “oh she’s a liar, playing the victim again, we hate her” because her persona and especially her approach to feminism already was coming off as out of touch and constantly self victimising. If people had any kind of trust in her or saw her as a likeable, honest person it would've never happened.

In 2016 the political climate was different, so people were less able to articulate why she didn’t sit well with them. People deep down felt she was self victimising, unsympathetic and out of touch, rather than the underdog or anti hero she paints herself to be, even back then. Now in a post Trump, post covid world with all of the war and genocide going on (that she continues to ignore), the general public is more easily able to articulate why white feminist billionaire ecocidal barbie is not a good person to support, beyond just ‘misogyny’ or ‘overexposure’. The whole foundation of white supremacy and girlboss feminism/capitalism that her entire brand is built on is something the general public is a lot more critical of now than they were back then. When the public inevitably does ’cancel’ her again, she won’t need Kanye to do it, she will ruin her reputation all by herself. That viral tiktok of someone saying she uses feminism as a defence to say people can’t be mean to her is just the start. People felt that back in 2016 and just didn’t know how to articulate it. I felt that way about her feminism back then and that’s why I stopped being a fan, it had nothing to do with overexposure or Kanye West (also rep was a terrible album).

I came back around to being a fan of her around lover era, because I really thought she was making a start at using her voice for more important things, and she was so private and not in everyone’s faces anymore doing obnoxious pap walks with her current boyfriend or ‘girl squad’ like she was back then. Now she’s doing all that crap again I’m starting to think Joe was the only reason she was tolerable. Now she’s back to staying silent on important issues, only difference is now she’s not just an out of touch millionaire, she’s an out of touch billionaire. I can’t in good conscience call myself a swiftie anymore. Her music will always be important to me, but I refuse to be a fan of any billionaire.

My Personal Favorite Rocket-Centered Media

Rocket Raccoon (2014) — 11 Issues

The one that began the Rocket Renaissance. I don’t recommend reading this one first right off the bat, if only because I think it has a cooler effect if you read the comic after Rocket’s more somber stories, but it is totally a must-read. Rocket has been many different people in many different ways, but it’s important to remember his roots. (He’s so 2014 in this, and the art-style will totally take you out if that’s your type of thing. I know it’s mine.)

Rocket Raccoon (2016) — 5 Issues

Rocket’s been through a whole lot of shit up until this point, but being stranded on Earth is the cherry on top. His first solo-story, where his grand Rocket-esque, State-of-Liberty-destroying journey is narrated through absolutely gorgeous illustrations that get him so well. The story is fantastic as well, and maybe not-so-subtlety + amazingly takes a dump on America, sending an important message in general.

If you need further convincing, Rocket runs around in his underwear for about two issues. It’s hilarious. Check it out.

Rocket (2017) — 6 Issues

His second solo-story.

One of my absolute personal favorites that left me completely shaken by the time I was done with it. I can’t even really begin to describe it without getting too deep into how fucking insane it made me feel.

If you’re into gritty heist/crime sci-fi plots with a healthy amount of crisp, absurdist humor, you’re in luck. If you totally hate that, you’d probably still like it.

Rocket just has that effect on people.

But seriously, go in completely blind and read this. You won’t regret it.

If you need further convincing, yes, this is the one where he dons the infamous Stinger Suit you might’ve seen before on that one puzzle. He does fill out that suit nicely (not a reference).

If you need context, Rocket takes hiatus from the Guardians and gets tangled up in a whole bunch of shit he didn’t sign up for. He’s a bit of a pathetic meow meow. Totally worth. Also, one of the best styles for Rocket, ever.

Guardians of Infinity (2016) — 8 Issues

A really, really cool comic that starts off with Rocket being Rocket, “saving the galaxy” through… materialistic means. His team then runs into another team, who runs into another team. After an obligatory fight, they all find out they’re Guardians of the Galaxy groups from different time-frames.

Then the Collectors swoops in and plans to do something unsavory to our favorite raccoon! Oh no! :D

Really though, the writing for this story is phenomenal, and Rocket’s character is done so well. I love the way he’s portrayed in this one. So badass. So smug.

The comic also features one-shot stories that are a blast as well. He’s so silly. Go check it out.

GotG: Rocket and Groot Steal The Galaxy! (Prose Novel) by Dan Abnett

Guardians of The Galaxy: Collect Them All (Prose Novel) by Corinne Duyvis

Onto the novels that ripped my heart out.

Holy shit. If you’re. Well. Genuinely, right away, these two books are a work of art.

I don’t even know where to begin, but I just have to say that Rocket Man by David Bowie started playing over the radio as I finished Rocket and Groot: Steal the Galaxy and I felt something, like, stirring within my soul. I felt devastatingly. Something.

These two:

1. Are so, so criminally underrated and deserve fame. The amount of fucking heart put into these works are tangible with every word.

2. Deserve their own reviews, but I can’t even really begin to express how important they are to me.

So I’m just going to write their synopsis’s.

Steal the Galaxy!

A raccoon and a tree walk into a bar. The universe almost collapses into a Capitalist Armageddon. C-3PO stars as our narrator and MC. Rocket may or may not need a therapist. Groot is badass as fuck.

…Disguise sequence.

Gamora is also there. Hi, Gamora :3

Collect Them All!

How found and family can a found family get? Do people ask that question? If you have ever found yourself asking that question, and if you’ve ever breathed, read this novel.

A book about Acceptance and Love and all of that stuff. Which is honestly such a challenge to fathom sometimes, much less write about, but I suppose the Guardians always get it right.

Both of these books also certifiably and perfectly capture each character. If Vol. 3 left a big, gaping hole in your heart, this might help you or possibly make it worse. In a good way, of course.

If you don’t read anything else, if you haven’t even picked up a book in years, if you call yourself a GotG fan: read these novels. You don’t even have to know one thing about these characters to feel attachment by the time the journey is over. It’s a threat and a promise.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (Game, 2021)

Some-fucking-how, GotG just. Defies all odds every single time . !

Please for the love of god, if you haven’t played this game, play it.

The tragedy that is the fact it was criminally overshadowed at the time of its release is just terrible. It’s genuinely, outside of my obsession, one of the best times I’ve ever had playing a video game in a long while. And it’s on sale often. Just experience it for yourself. It’s something so incredibly special.

Venom attaches himself to Rocket and it’s fucking awesome. Also, I love the art-style he had under Valerio Schiti. He always got him right.

Get your hands on the comics however you desire, but the method to reading the novels for free is on Archive.org (where you can borrow books). Just be cautious, as only one person can borrow a book at a given time.

A few month ago Antoine made a transfer from Atlético Madrid to fc Barcalona. You went with him, it was a hard decision for you because you lived your whole life in Madrid. Madrid was your city, your whole family lived their and you saw them weekly. But you loved Antoine too much and you couldn't live without him so you decided to go with him.

You had met him in 2016 at a match. Your brother is an Atlético fan so you went to a match with him, it was his birthday gift from you. You two were sitting in the front, your brother had made a poster with 'Antoine Griezmann can i have you shirt'. Your brother was a fan of antoine since 2014 when he joined Atletico madrid. So after the game Antoine saw the poster of your brother and walked in your direction. He jumped over the fence and took his shirt of to give it to you brother, who took it gladly.

Damn, he has a good body you thought. "thank you so much!" said your brother with the biggist smile on his face "no problem bro" said Antoine while smiling back at your brother. "it means so much to him, I don't know how to thank you" you said while looking at Antoine with a small smile "I do know something" he said looking at you with a smirk "what?" you said being confused "go on a date with me" he said while making you blush. And ofcourse you said yes and now you've been together for 3 years.

You finally began to feel more at home in Barcelona and slowly started to like it. You weren't the only one that was struggling. Antoine had a rough start at Barcelona, the fans from Atletico where scolding him out for traitor on social media and the Barcelona fans where saying that he wasn't good enough. He always got hate but never so much at ones and he took it hard on himself. He trained every day really hard to be better but it didn't pay off.

He didn’t tell you how he felt, every time you asked how it was going he said fine. He didn’t want to bother you with his problems because you were already struggling with your own problems. You didn’t noticed it at first but Antoine seemed less happy, he was smiling less, he didn’t made funny jokes and he didn’t did his little dances anymore. Ones you started to noticed his lack of enjoying life you started to get worried. Something was wrong but you didn’t knew what it was. So how where you supposed to help him.

That was until you were watching tv and there was some football show on it talking about Antoine. But they didn’t talk good about him they were making fun of him and saying hurtful things about how bad he was playing and that he wasn’t good enough for Barcelona. You immediately turned of the tv and when to look on Instagram what people where saying and they where saying the exact the same thing. You blamed yourself for not seeing this sooner. You where so coughed up with you own life, you where constantly thinking about work that you didn’t saw how miserable your boyfriend was.

So you decided that you two should have a little date night at home. You knew that if Antoine came home from training that he would be tired and that he just wants to stay at home with you. You quickly took a shower. After the shower you went to the kitchen to make his favorite dish, you hopped it would make him feel better. You set the table and put some candles on the table, it gave a romantic atmosphere. You got dressed in Antoine’s favorite dress of yours. It was a long beautiful red dress that suited you body perfectly. You did the last finishing touches so that it would be perfect.

When Antoine came home it was completely dark in the house and he was confused, he thought you where home. But that’s when he walked in the dinner room, the table was set romantically with candles and his favorite food. His beautiful girlfriend was sitting at the table looking beautiful and in the dress that he liked so much on her. He couldn’t get a better dinner than this. He couldn’t keep his eyes of you witch made you blush. “Are you gonna keep staring at me or you gonna eat dinner with me” you said smiling at him he didn’t say anything and sat down across from you.

“You look incredibly beautiful” he said looking at you lovely “thank you” you said happily. You two begin to eat dinner witch he really enjoyed. He had told you a hundred time how delicious the food was. He forgot everything for a while and was just having a fun time with his girlfriend whom he loved very much. You on the other hand was also having a great time it was a while ago since you and your boyfriend had a fun dinner date, you had missed this.

You had ended the night with laying on the couch. Antoine was laying with his head in your lap and you where going with your hand through his curls. I just read up your post on merc not favoring nico throughout his career. With all the british bias sky/any other medias had against him back in the day, it's definitely interesting when nico decided to join them, always made me wonder how he felt about all of that. Also, did he really sign more than 100 million euros in 2016? That's some insane negotiation skill, considering he hasn't been a wdc 😭

the thing about relationships between sports people and the media is that it's inherently weird. because yes, these people often talk shit about you on the television, but you also often see them more than you see your own family. you share flights with them, and meals, and you see them not just at work, but also in airports and train stations and restaurants and hotels. and both sides need each other. the media need drivers and team personnel to want to talk to them (and sometimes leak them information) and the drivers and teams need the media for coverage, advertising, and to drive certain narratives. and for both sides, the people that you are on camera may not always be who you are off camera, and there is a certain recognition of that.

for nico, while i would say that while the british media treated him fairly terribly during 2014-2016, there were still moments where they acknowledged how good he was. there was this very odd phase in the monza-suzuka section of the 2016 calendar, where it was looking increasingly likely that nico was going to win the championship, and sky were suddenly nice about nico. they wrote articles about how wonderful nico was as a person and said it was a shame that people didn't get to see that side of nico (even though they were the ones portraying him in a certain way), they did a review of the hybrid era and recognised that nico had had more bad luck across the era than lewis, (although lewis had probably had slightly worse luck in 2016) and where earlier race wins like bahrain, china and russia (where he began on the front row and then led all the way to the end) were described as boring and unchallenged, race wins like monza and japan (which were almost identical to the earlier wins) were described as faultless and perfect. even when they were being terrible to him, there were moments that were good.

additionally, a lot of the british hate towards nico only began in 2014. prior to that, coverage was largely positive. nico was driving terrible cars, but he was driving them incredibly well. he dragged some of the shittiest williams cars in their history to places that they should not have been, including onto the podium. i would have to check, but i'm pretty sure that during his time at williams, nico was their only podium finisher. he absolutely destroyed his teammates (the only teammate he never beat in his career was mark webber, who was his teammate during his rookie year, when they were driving a car that spent more time on fire than it did racing), and when he went to mercedes he beat michael schumacher pretty convincingly (only schumi teammate to ever beat him btw). before he became a threat to lewis, the british media were actually quite complimentary about him. so for nico, it's a question of three years of negative coverage versus eight years of pretty good coverage (personally i would still have told them to fuck off).

there's also the fact that nico does triple duty for sky, as he works for sky germany and sky italy too, often in the same weekend. so sky are willing to pay him essentially three times to do one job, which seems like a pretty good deal to me, and i don't think the german or italian coverage of him was ever quite as harsh as the british media, so that might also be a factor. he clearly enjoys what he does, he gets to show up in his little linen beach outfits, say whatever he likes, and leave as the paddock implodes because he's just dropped information that the fia didn't want anyone to know about. truly an icon.

as for the contract extension, yeah it was insane. i think it may have even been for as much as 137 million euros, almost 70 million per year, which is a legitimately insane amount of money for any driver, let alone one who has never won a wdc. as i said, i think nico actually had quite a lot of power/leverage when it came to signing the contract because of what was happening internally at mercedes at the time. also, back then, a lot of merc's biggest sponsors, hugo boss, thomas sabo, etc. were actually nico sponsors, and if he went to ferrari, they would have gone with him, so there was definitely a financial incentive to keep him, but still, georg nolte and gerhard berger definitely earned their money in those negotiations

i first listened to taylor swift when love story (2008) came out. i didn't know she "only writes about her exes" until speak now (2010). so yeah i liked taylor lautner. i disliked john mayer. i hated jake gyllenhaal. liked harry styles. tried to listen to more calvin harris. you get the gist.

but it wasn't until blank space (2014) that i took a step back and thought about what the media has been painting her as. and then the whole kanye-kim thing happened (2016). i already loved tom hiddleston & i hoped for great things which never happened. since then, i've never cared for who she dates. i never googled joe alwyn or tried to watch his movies. i don't care for travis kelce either.

it's not because i dislike them. i love joe's contribution to her albums & that he's an introvert. it's just that we've always just heard one side of the story. the other person never gets to say much (which is fine in some cases). but i am here to listen to that one side. because she writes well & that's all i care about. i decided not to mindlessly hate or love the people she dates. that's her job. i'll just listen to her songs & her side of the story. i don't even wanna speculate about what went wrong. i will read theories but won't spread them or believe them as the whole truth.

i thought of writing this down (for myself) so i could revisit this in april because i see the joe alwyn hate train gaining traction. i refuse to hate him. and i hope the album doesn't change that. because it will again be just her side of the story.

WHB’S Guide To The Loki (616) Comic Canon So You Don’t Have To Slog Through It Like I Did

The chaos, mischief and hijinks Loki gets up to in the Marvel comics run as long and complex as the Thor comics ever did, so for simplicity this starts at the Loki “rebirth” which is where Loki became more of an independent character with his own role to play in the ongoing 616 canon. I will make a separate post for “non-canon” and oneshots and generally good comic Loki content that isn’t part of this arc.

diclaimer: i am Very opinionated and also prone to hyperbolic language so i may insult a comic/arc that you like. it is important that you Deal With It and move on because i cannot and will not be swayed.

“Classic Loki” dies during the Siege (2009) arc, specifically Siege #4. I don’t recommend it as reading personally and if you’re not already reading Marvel, it’ll be confusing and boring to follow. Things to know: Loki cut a deal with Hela to have his name taken from the book of Hel. He caused some Issues and Problems that went way overboard and is killed in the battle.

BEGIN THE KID LOKI STORY:

Thor #617-#619 (2010) - Thor finds the reborn child-aged Loki in Paris using the name “Serrure” (”Lock” in Fench.). Generally recommend this for context reading and understanding Loki’s character “rebranding”

Journey into Mystery #622-645 (2011) - Sometimes referred to as Loki: Journey Into Mystery, this is the bulk of the Kid Loki storyline and spans several story arcs in the Marvel comics at the time. Heavily recommend for understanding of the rest of Loki’s character arc, as well as adorable Thor & Loki sibling stuff and Loki’s goofy little way of talking. The final issues of this storyline are necessary reading for every major Loki storyline after.

The Mighty Thor vol.2 (2011) - some of this happens in tandem to Journey into Mystery. If you’re not super into the Thor comics, this isn’t that important, but it helps inform the events of JiM while you’re reading it. There’s some good sibling stuff and Loki generally being a bit of a scamp, but there’s a lot going on that ties to other major Marvel story arcs at the time that can make this a bit confusing to read.

Fuck Exiled (2012) it doesn’t fucking matter.

Young Avengers (2013) - THE comic!!!! This is prime Kid Loki into Adult Loki content. This is where we got the contemporary Loki design from. This shits gay as hell, it’s full of friendship and drama and Loki shennanigans and I honestly cannot recommend this comic enough. If you never read another Marvel comic, read Young Avengers.

Loki: Agent of Asgard (2014) - OBVIOUSLY THIS ONE! Lots of people made the mistake of reading this on its own without understanding who Loki is in this comic. So much of Loki’s character development in this story hinges on the last issues of JiM. Read the others first THEN this, and you’ll thank me. This one has GORGEOUS art and completely re-shaped Loki’s character for the future Marvel comics. It also spans several major comic arcs at the time, so prepare for more external reading.

Avengers & X-Men: AXIS (2014) - This is a LOT to cope with if you’re not already into the comics, as it has a HUGE cast and a lot of major plots running at the same time. I honestly skimmed this just for bits of my fav characters. Loki appears on only a few, I believe #6-#8. Only read if you’re really interested in the context of the events in AoA.

Loki & Thor: Original Sin (2014) - I am holding this story arc in my hands. I am kissing it. This is PRIME fem!Loki content. This is ICONIC genderfluid Loki matrial. This is PURE fucked up dysfunctional Asgard-fam content. I love this comic series very much for it’s writing and artwork and beautiful moments and please don’t say a mean thing about it or I will cry.

More Loki content happens in Mighty Thor vol.3 (2016). I personally don’t think it’s relevant or necessary reading.

Fuck Vote Loki. Me and the homies hate Vote Loki. MCU will trick you and make you think Vote Loki might be good. It’s not.

The Infinity Quest arc doesn’t do anything useful for Loki imho. It’s one of the many comics in Loki’s current writing that feels like the writers haven’t read any of his previous arc.

Loki: Sorcerer Supreme (2017) - aka Doctor Strange #381-385. Imho the most wasted potential arc they’ve written so far. There’s like One nugget of very good Loki character content and the rest is just a huge waste of time. Would only recommend if you’re feeling comitted to reading as much of the Loki arc as you can.

Personally I think the entire Final Host arc is a complete misuse of Loki given his character development up until then and it simply doesn’t do anything for him.

Infinity Wars Prime (2018) - this is a bit of a Marmite arc. I think it’s setting up for Loki (2019) but it’s very tedious and bland and once again wastes the potential of the multiverse. Good only for ponytail Loki. It may be relevant in the future.

The War of the Realms (2019) - This has a LOT going on, but Loki’s part of this is very integral to how Loki is currently in the canon. This overlaps a little with Thor vol.5

Loki (2019) - This is.... Probably going to be relevant one day. It’s fun dialogue but honestly I truly do not care for this. It’s very slow paced and adds nothing to Loki’s character arc that AoA hadn’t already done. It’s a bit useful for understanding the way Loki has referred to himself since, but tbh... Meh.

Thor (2020) - This places Loki very much where he is Right Now in the canon and his current role. This is the point from which comics will pick up on his story arc, and also takes us back to the end of AoA.

Defenders (2022) - This picks up IMMEDIATELY after the final page of AoA. This is probably going to patch up a few of the issues I’ve had with previous story arcs, so I’m holding out! So far it is a banger.

i'm not really good at writing straight angst i feel like it's normally like. angst with catharsis. but i wrote some explorations on grief in the past couple years that i feel like have the angst factor (what i have of you about nhs after nmj dies, and then when your beard fell out about my sweetie pie kageyama tobio in middle school after his grandpa dies)

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

i have a lot of silly fluffy fics... idk i try to toe the line mostly of like. the joys and sadnesses of human experience but sometimes you just gotta fluff it up. i'll set the table, you can make the fire, which is book verse aziraphale/crowley living in a cottage and being in love, comes to mind....i love that one

8. Do you get hate on fics?

i don't think i've ever really gotten hate on a fic? i have been extremely lucky in that regard. especially since my whole ouvre from like 2014 onward is on that damn site and much of it is very cringeworthy.

not well!

i often will do like kind of a quasi-crossover kind of thing rather than a True Crossover wherein i take characters i like from one medium and plop them into the roles and places of characters i like from another medium. i did a dragon age wangxian fic where lwj was the inquisitor from da:i called we held together the fragile sky that kind of exemplifies this dynamic

not that i know of or that anyone has ever notified me of, but i also don't look that hard. if this has ever happened, it would hurt my feelings, so please don't do it ? lol

not as such but i have one not-intended-for-posting fic which is basically just a transcription of jokes i have with my roommate about haikyuu characters LOL which i think counts as co-writing. she's my co-writer in spirit even if i'm the one at the keyboard

my answer to this changes with every new fixation i have. like right now it's kagehina. if you asked me four years ago i would have said wangxian. You Know?

15. What is a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

SO MANY...i think probably my fullmetal alchemist nie brothers au....i try not to post things until they are done and fully edited now, but that one was a whim-based fic that i lost all strength for as soon as i started thinking too hard about kagehina. i also had a fem nielan sci fi au that was vaguely based off beauty and the beast but nmj was like stuck in a ship and she thought she was its computer and that she was a program but she was actually a person....which i never posted any of except snippets on twitter and i think it was just too sprawling for my current skill level...i just was never able to wrangle it. but i am fond of it nonetheless

16. What are your writing strengths?

based on what other people have told me i would say the way i write sibling / family relationships, and while my prose is not always pretty i do think it can be pretty at times ...

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

i feel like it's often too self-indulgent even if that's what fic is for lol, and i tend to look back on fics and think, i wrote that because i had feelings about it and wanted to say it, but i'm not necessarily sure that This Character would say/do that at this point in time....idk like i fear that when i don't think about it hard enough my characterization can be weak or guided by what eye personally would do vs. what The Character would do. but some of that is because the majority of my fics on ao3 are from years and years ago and i (hopefully) have continued to improve

18. Thoughts of writing dialogue in another language in fics?

i'm picky about it but when it's done well i think it's really fun and builds so much of the world/character. i think when it's bad it's really bad. when i go about it i try to think about like, a) do i know this language myself/do i know someone who does. if the answer is no i try to keep it really minimal. b) how do people who know multiple languages approach speaking those multiple languages naturally in real life. like (IN MY EXPERIENCE) ppl don't tend to switch languages for random words mid-sentence unless those words are like, mom, dad, uncle, aunt, ect...maybe swearing if they're less familiar with one of the languages and don't know slang/swearing in it...but again when it's done well it's really good and i'm not an expert. i just can kinda tell when it feels off when i read it, if that makes sense...(it's the same way i feel about grammar lol. sometimes i can just tell it's a little Off)

19. First fandom you wrote for?

probably either fma or soul eater or the sister's grimm book series when i was in middle school. or maybe doctor who? idk i had a lot of fanfic notebooks that i have since destroyed and then regretted destroying

20. Favorite fic you have written?

at the present moment it's in these coming years my kagehina love letter but again i feel like it changes constantly. like the more i write the better i get and the more the newest/most polished thing i've written sort of Becomes my favorite just by default of my satisfaction level with it. sorry if that's a bad answer

and you know what, I always have to pat myself on the back for two things.

critical thinking and questioning everything.

there are posts on my blog that go back as far as 2014 that were very pro what I happen to be anti now. some I reblogged and said nothing, and some I reblogged and voiced my confusion in the tags. I dont plan on finding them and deleting them bc they're a part of the past.

when you're friends on here with a bunch of people who all had, not even similar mindsets but the exact same mindsets, and you were the only one who thought differently, it was kinda difficult to figure out how to think for yourself. questioning things got me in trouble. I was supposed to think the exact way everyone else did or I was wrong and a bad person.

the pro-porn posts, the pro-prostitution posts, some very specific pro-trans posts, and a lot more, I'd be questioning some of what was said in those posts down in the tags and people either sent me anons or pm's and it was less so about like educating me, and more so "how dare you even question this post". very... hostile.

I was experiencing two different worlds. the online world aka tumblr's brand of feminism, and facebook and youtubes pro-mra bullcrap. and then the real world, with my real friends, who were just... normal. and coming on here was like... going to work. in a job I hated. wondering what I'll be "taught" today. what's the right way to think.

but throughout 2016 I was liking a lot of posts that just made sense. common sense. like normal humans were actually writing these posts. but I never reblogged them.

by the end of 2016 and start of 2017 I'd had enough. and I finally started reblogging them. not even in bulk, just here and there. and exactly what I thought would happen, happened. the sensitive Americans go bye-bye.

it was eye opening bc it justified so many things for me, but also, when I'm close to my friends I'll do anything for them. but never for a friend I could never be myself around. that the friendship was a lie bc I held my tongue. that a conversation could never happen bc I'm wrong and they're right and if I dont agree then end of friendship. no discussions, just... the end.

the unfollows were so immediate, and yet it felt like I could breathe again. and so I continued watching anime at the time, but then I started working, and then moved away, and so tumblr slowly drifted away from me.

and then I'd come back here and there.

but I was always, always wondering, and still do. "was I wrong?", "are the things I reblog actually wrong?", "if 10 people unfollowed me over very specific opinions that they all agree on and I'm here with the opposite opinion, am I wrong?"

but I basically answer my own question every time.

in that, its not about being right or wrong. its about questioning everything. questioning why you think that way. being able to justify why you think that way. being able to use critical thinking and have discussions, not have a fucking cult ass way of thinking and just point at someone and tell them they're straight up wrong for having a different opinion than yours.

and that's why I'll never regret the friendships that died on here. bc they are all still stuck that way, whereas I grow and learn and change.

I'm not telling anyone what's right or wrong.

I defo have a couple of boundaries for sure. there's a few things I have solid ass opinions on that I am adamant about. but for anyone that ever wanted to talk, not argue/want to fight, I'm always open to hearing the other side.

but with people like that, from back in the day, that wasn't possible.

The funny thing is, in my mind I already ruled out the possibility of it being her gender.

Amelia was introduced as a mascot in 2014/15. The first book came out in 2014.

They also showed in a 2016 study that (slightly) more girls played the game than boys.

10% more, but still. I was going to say it could be her race, but they use DJ Saturday Nite a lot in advertising, so probably not.

Not that anyone would know Mya's Asian, cause they didn't change the eyes...

So it's most likely because they believed kids wouldn't gravitate to her because of her personality. Like I said before, it's understandable. Oliver got through his problems before the story even began, and Jorge realized he found what he wanted at the end. Mya was the one that needed the most convincing.

I mean, it's impossible for a kid out there to relate to Mya's character, right?

And maybe, idk, learn something from her experiences. Right?

Mya and Jorge are really the ones that learned something. Oliver was already satisfied with his life, he didn't learn anything.

Now it sounds like I'm hating on Oliver 🤣 I'm not I swear. It's not his fault.

pourquoi pas les trois... actually i think it might boil down to two main things: my frustration at the continued erasure and diminishing of seb's achievements, and my pet peeve of Total Fucking Bullshit.

it's no secret that this sport has a problem with dominating teams. and yes, you could argue that's the point--hello, it's a constructor's championship, the point is to have the best car. and red bull have built beasts the last couple of years! seriously, all my respect to the team as a whole for pulling everything together. i was and remain a red bull fan at heart despite it all, and it makes me happy from an objective standpoint to see so many elements of a team come together in harmony. red bull is a well-oiled machine at work.

but i genuinely don't think there's been this level of domination by a singular driver in a singular team since like, 2013. think: if lewis' era of domination was so much "worse" than this as the dudebros like to say, why hasn't lewis come close to beating 9 wins in a row? the main phenomenon at play is the sport's short term memory--but really, the way fans like to completely forget 2015-2018 and arguably 2019 too really frustrates me. it wasn't like 2014 hit and suddenly lewis was winning everything. nico won the 2016 wdc. seb posed a real fucking threat in 2015, and in 2017-18 the messaging from the sport was that the battle between him and lewis was, quote unquote, titanic. a battle between, quote unquote, titans of the sport. fast forward to 2020/21 and the narrative is that nothing has stood in lewis' way for the last 6 or 7 years, and that his era of domination needs to be ended for ~the good of the sport.~

so seb makes a couple mistakes, fine, but mostly gets visibly cucked by his team for years, and suddenly he's nothing. his four championships mean nothing, his 3rd most wins in the history of f1 mean nothing, he's just ferrari's next failure.

but then the narrative around max. max, who's introduced in 2021 like he's an up and coming driver intent on toppling lewis' throne. it's a great narrative, right? mercedes took red bull's ball. red bull want it back. casually ignoring how max has been in the sport since 2016, max is red bull's new young golden boy, the one who's going to lead them to victory as the youngest driver like seb already did before and wow, wait, sorry for mentioning seb in relation to success there, let's keep on reinforcing that he's an old man who needs to retire. anyway, max is someone who doesn't give a flying fuck about anyone or anything except racing! max is a beast on track! max is [checks notes] our great white hope!

let's put the racism discussion on hold, because i think people try really hard to pin him down as this like, absolutely sociopathic bigot who is the most racist person in the world, and while he's not NOT racist, i don't think the extreme conclusion ppl are reaching is true. plus this rhetoric is mostly smoke and mirrors to try and find a leftist/social justice reason to hate on him anyway. so let's get fucking real: i dislike max for the same reasons i dislike taylor sw*ft. i hate that there's this blatant marketing campaign that fans buy into and perpetuate, that these people are the greatest of their generation, that they're masters of their craft. like, what? max's racecraft is just threatening to crash people out or push them off the track, something multiple drivers have been quoted saying. that's not ruthless, that's just bad fucking driving. that's an asshole on the dvp suddenly merging into your lane without using their blinkers or checking their blindspots and forcing you to pull out your defensive driving skills from that one class in drivers ed just to avoid a massive pileup on the highway. and i'm expected to suck this guy's dick?

max wins a fraudulent championship in 2021 and proceeds, for the next two years, to basically cruise at the front. it's like the second half of 2013, except it's lasting for a YEAR AND A HALF. only this time, instead of the sport trying to diminish this stint by saying it's just the car or that the golden boy has put himself above the team, people are......... celebrating? listen, i enjoy a singapore 2013 moment as much as the next seb fan but come on. get real. if every race was singapore 2013 that would be boring. and that's what we're seeing, but that's not what fom wants us to think we're seeing. it's complete bullshit.

which leads me to my posts. oh my god, i hated the comparisons between max and seb's first championships. the circumstances could not be more different--it was fucking insulting. seb won his championship fair and square, no rulebook bending required. seb's most violent moment on track that year was in turkey with mark--but he didn't park his car on top of mark's head and walk out saying that's what you get. how could people say that seb was anything like max.

seb's 9 wins at the end of 2013 were the culmination of five years spent fighting tooth and nail for his success. even for how dominant he was in 2011, there were still other teams up there! he had to fight his own teammate for so many years! and even with displays like singapore 2013, there were races where he was fighting in the second half of the season! and now we see this current streak of wins from the last two years where everyone else has tumbled behind and perez is contractually obligated to be a doormat. (not to say that teams haven't tried--i had so much hope at the start of 2022 when ferrari showed up with that pussy monster.) so look me in the eyes and say that max has fought with everything in him just to get that #1 spot. the two of them are leagues apart, but people--the same ones who have said seb is washed--are inevitably going to say that max has beaten seb, that max is on par with the third most successful driver in the sport. it's like a slap to the face.

and so we end back with the constant retconning of seb's position in f1 history. it drives me insane. he's nothing when it comes to propping max up, and then he's the benchmark to prop max up. he's a titan of the sport, and then he's just a failure. come on. come on. i'm just tired of my favourite driver never being given the credit he deserves, and i'm tired of having this fictional story shoved down my throat that max is anything like the goats in the sport. tl;dr. get real.

ive been in the pnat fandom since 2015/2016 :) because of this arguably ALL my favorite older fic/art is by inactive users lol, some people are still kicking around though. my fave fics of all time are:

- the many emotions of one johnny jhonny by littledragonprince

umm what horrors were there. oh okay so apparently there was fandom drama a few weeks ago over the prose stuff or writing or whatever idk i wasnt paying attention- anyway i saw people posting about it like it was some massive fallout. literally it was baby leagues. in 2018ish mid-ch5 when isabel and isaac had their big fight? the fandom was in ACTUAL SHAMBLES. the tag was full and i mean FUL of people writing me-length essays on why isaac was right or isabel was right. people tried arguing isabel was gaslighting isaac. one person in the fandom was a psych major and wrote an entire response on how that was quite literally not the definition of gaslighting. several people quit the fandom for this it was their catalyst. also bullymagnets and imaaxes hated each others guts. actually pnat shipping only really got popular around 2016/2017- a lot of the fandom didnt like shipping the kids! we just hung out being like ‘what if max and isabel bet one could shove more cookies in their mouth and then they both threw up’ ‘what if the activity club played dnd’ ‘what if they were wizards’ it was super chill. rarepairs were more common. ppl were a lot more focused and interested in just having fun and trying new things than if those things made sense or if they liked them or not. OH PARASONAS WERE HUGE everyone loved parasonas. wait this is supposed to be about the horrors. ummmm i mentioned it before but there was a lot of isaac/isabel fandrama. by which i mean isaac enjoyers who tended to relate to him without understanding why the writing treats him like it does, woobified the shit out of him and were super obnoxious about it. imo this still happens but not nearly as much as it did in 2014-2019. there was this one guy who like HARDCORE shipped ed and isabel and did it with unabashed gusto. these were the horrors

do I get asks: when there's an ask game going around, but omg there's still some nice day asks haunting me in my inbox, I'm a terrible procrastinator 😭

average hours of sleep: 7-8ish (I use night contacts so the hours I sleep literally dictates how clear my vision is going to be the next day and I hate it when it's blurry so I will always aim for a full nights sleep for that reason only 😂 occasionally I'll sacrifice good vision to read a fanfic late into the night though haha)

instruments: piano 🎹 but the last time I learnt an entire piece was 2009 - my attention span is really shit 😅 it drives my husband mad that when I play it's just parts of songs LOL

what I’m wearing: pj's (tshirt + shorts)
