Age Regressor!Hunter Headcanons

He’d always wished he could do more childish things back when he worked for Belos, and yearned for simple things like toys. It was only when he found a book about childhood trauma and it’s psychological affects, did he find the coping mechanism.

He was embarrassed to try it out but it became (almost) easy to him, as it was what he was already doing but with extra steps.

He involuntarily and voluntarily regresses, and started doing it more often when he joined Luz and her friends.

When he involuntarily regresses it’s rough. He has to be held and talk to for at least half an hour, sometimes up to two hours. He rocks back and forth and hugs his knees very tightly while trying to ground himself. Once he’s decent, he’ll still be sniffling for a long time.

When it’s voluntary he loves to giggle and play with everything he can. Although he has a few comfort items, he loves to go explore as that was limited in his time with the Emperor’s Coven.

He regresses to around 1-5 typically.

He absolutely loves to babble when he isn’t shy anymore; when he’s completely comfortable he’ll draw and show his picture to whoever is babysitting him.

His favorite activity is movie nights, even though he loves to babble he prefers to be quiet and be sleepy.

Hunter also loves praise and tries to help his cg/babysitter with whatever they’re doing. Cooking? He’s putting water in the pot. Cleaning? He’s clumsily sweeping the floors.

He has a stuffed bird for when he misses flapjack. But while flapjack was alive? The bird would sit on his shoulder the entire time he was little, and would occasionally bring him small toys.

I think Willow would be his CG while they were in the human realm (along with Camila) but after they return Darius would be his full-time CG and Willow would be his secondary one.

Him and Amity didn’t connect well for a long time, but now they have little play dates together and trade stickers.

Hunter likes to paw at blankets as if he’s a wolf, and curls up in forts he makes like his favorite animal.

✨HCs for that time of the month w/ The Bad Batch✨

warnings: MINORS DNI, only passing mentions of sex, but that’s enough for y’all to stay away. fluffy, loving, caring HCs.

A/N: posting this out of the drafts instead of day 6 for my 30 day challenge. I was incredibly emosh over the movie I saw today, and simply couldn’t. I’ll post later this evening, or double up tomorrow 🥰

I think we all easily accept the HC that Tech has your cycle memorized because ofc he does. It’s a pattern, and he would pick it up easily. And because he’s Tech, he’s accounted for a margin of error, but he can usually tell if it will be early or late based on your eating habits, stress levels, and activity. Things you need to make it through the week just appear in your bunk at the right time.

I also strongly think all of them have it figured out in their own way.

Sergeant “I can sense your imminent migraine before it hits take this space excedrin” Hunter, knows by the changes in your hormones, and subtle changes in your scent. ‘You’re running hot, you smell slightly different, and you just tried to fight Wrecker over a candy bar, let’s get you cooled down and an even bigger candy bar.’ Hunter’s usually soft with you, but you swear his voice is a lullaby when it’s that time.

Wrecker has figured out that around the same time each month, you eat nearly as much as he does, and your fuse is much shorter than usual. Wrecker’s great with explosives, so he knows how to handle you just right to prevent the detonation of your rage. He slides you extra food, asks if you need more, and generally treats you as a temperamental bomb that he adores. Sweets, fried things, salty things, sex? He’s got you!

Crosshair notices a subtle shift in your body language. The nervous, irritable tics that herald the imminent arrival of your period. The light shake in your hand, that wouldn’t be caught by the average person, the way your face twitches towards a frown before you catch yourself and fix it. And there’s your willingness to invade his space. Normally, you leave him some breathing room because he likes his personal space, but when you’re ovulating? Nope. You sit closer than usual, touch him more freely, and you’re damn near insatiable. He’s absolutely not going to admit it, but he’s all too happy to indulge you when you’re like this, and he even dials back on the sarcastic quips until you’re feeling your best again.

Echo knows exactly what’s going on, and he’s the type to quietly fix problems before they can irk you. Quelling arguments before they can get to you, making sure your laundry is done, and even skipping you in rotation for watch, so you can rest. He pampers the heck out of you too. Massages, snuggles, making sure you have one of those face masks you like so much, and reminding you how gorgeous you are, and how much he loves you.

Saw a post in passing about the hexsquad getting jobs in the human realm and op said hunter would be a lifeguard and as a lifeguard op is 100% correct, so here's a drawing [image id below the cut] and my lifeguard hunter headcanons

this boy is a pool lifeguard. trust me, ive worked several pools and beaches, there is a difference in Vibes, he's a pool lifeguard. other lifeguards will Get It

he took the training and the videos Very Seriously and was then utterly bewildered when his coworkers are not following the video instructions To A T

no seriously, he's The Perfect Lifeguard and his coworkers are also bewildered at why he's following Every Single Regulation. He always has the rescue tube in the proper position with the line properly wrapped up; he always stands at attention; he scans the water almost robotically; he's perfectly alert always at all times; he wears sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, and brings a lot of water; he knew where the first aid kit and AED were literally on his first day; etc.

dude always wears his sunglasses and bucket hat - even in the break room - to the utter confusion of his coworkers. they chalk it up to him just being really extra about sun safety, but it's actually to hide his red eyes and pointy ears

his coworkers are also confused because there's just a bird. following him. at all times. hunter talks to it and calls it flapjack when he thinks theyre not watching him and the bird seems to answer??

every time hunter's coworkers think they've seen all of his suspicious and scary scars they're Wrong

he reapplies sunscreen every two hours almost religiously because he got horribly, horribly burned on his first day when he forgot

the more time he spends in the sun, he starts to notice faint dots on his nose and cheeks and luz is very excited to inform him he has freckles!

hunter did not know what a break was until the cert training mentioned it. after that he did not know they were mandatory until his supervisor forced him to take a break.

he nearly blew the hexsquad's cover when the cert instructor asked if he wanted the extra waterfront cert so he could guard beaches and he asked "wait, you can swim in your ocean?"

dude blows his whistle at everything. kid running? whistle. taking snacks too close to the water? whistle. breath-holding contest? whistle. hes almost giddy on the power of the whistle.

he's scary good at getting people to quit fucking around and pushing the rules but only because he breaks out the voice he used as the Golden Guard to train new recruits in drills

sometimes the hexsquad comes by to hang out while he's on shift. luz and gus had a breath-holding contest cause they thought hunter would let them slide. he did not. hunter made them sit out of the water for ten minutes.

First of all,

He's very understanding of your sensory issues,

Wether it be certain sounds, textures, noises, sounds, etc.

Very quick to help if you're experiencing sensory overload,

He gives you thinks to fidgit with to redirect your focus to something else other than whatever caused the overload.

He also pays attention to all your different stims and what they mean.

Like how you twirl your hair, drum your fingers things, or tap your foot.

He also does his best to redirect the more harmful stims,

Like skin picking, tugging your hair, chewing on you cheek or scratching, etc.

Hunter gives you things to busy your hands to stop the picking and tugging,

And giving you a peice of gum to chew on instead of your cheeks or lips.

He's like a tired parent trying to keep up with your chaos,

And he always tries to stop you from doing dumb crap (it never works).

But he's always there to make sure your ok.

At this point the chaos is normal.

You could say the most out of pocket thing and he would not care.

Just answer whatever weird question you asked and move on.

If he's ever upset at you for doing something stupid and you get hurt,

Just kiss him on the cheek and he'll forget all about it.

sometimes reading a book or maybe drawing something or writing

he finds a lot of his hobbies at night when he cant sleep and decides to try something

he finds drawing and writing as the best way to pass the time (besides reading but yk)

he can share it with you and get your praise and compliments and it makes him feel better about himself

she loves it when you run your hands through his hair, play with it, and scratch his scalp

he tries to not fall asleep on your lap/shoulder/stomach/etc but it usually happens anyways

its just the feeling of your fingers softly running across his head that makes him feel all warm and fuzzy and makes his mind start to shut down

she also loves to be your model/taste tester/etc.

whether it be for your drawing, or him acting out your story, or her being a mannequin for you to make clothes, etc

Hunter head canon #2

I feel like we need to remember that Hunter was treated like an adult and was around adults his whole life. Not just any adults but adults in the emperors coven and coven heads themselves. Who are shown to be, to put it nicely, catty. In result, Hunter himself can be very catty even if he doesn’t mean to be. The lack of knowledge to certain social cues and his overall sass can make him seem pretty mean even if he doesn’t mean to be.

I also imagine him being a young emperor coven head (for goodness sake he’s 16 and already the golden guard when we meet him) he was frequently the butt of the joke among other coven heads. So of course he needed to be just as harsh back to not let himself put down like that.

Like the hexsquad will be messing with each other for fun as friends do and he will just insult them and their whole existence and when the others tell him like bro that enough he’s like “oh no, did I do something wrong. Im sorry :(“ and the other have show him a difference between a joke and insult and the limits to a joke. He quickly learns and is understanding of course cause he does genuinely love his friends.

However with that being said, when he does start attending Hexside like he said he was he runs into some issues. For starters, I imagine him being ex golden guard and being a bit different (obvious scarring, weird personality, etc) many aren’t very kind to him. But what makes him hard to bully is that he can easily rebuttal back and do it meaner. He was surrounded by rude, powerful adults, he can handle some measly rude teens easily. Of course he still does get emotionally effected, he’s not a robot obviously. But he can defend himself and has others to help him

I also imagine he knows how to “professionally” insult people. Making his insults sound polite or be very passive aggressive. Like. “Just a friendly reminder…” or “we can’t all have winning ideas, we need people like you to help fill the roster” or “There’s no reason to be so humble, it’s quite indifferent” and other things.

Idk theses are just my thoughts as I feel alot of people make him seem idk… weaker I guess or a ‘pure soft boy’. He can be both soft n sweet but still a sassy lil shit. Their must be balance people

Hc that Hunter just hides in Darius's cloak a lot. Sometimes it's cuz he's nervous, sometimes he just wants to for literally no reason.

Darius knows that if he hides in the cloak and tugs on it a little, that's Hunter signalling he wants to leave somewhere, so Darius will automatically come up with an excuse so that Hunter and Him can leave.

Hunter's actually been doing this since he was young and Darius had just been made Coven Head. He would just randomly hide in it and start giggling his head off whilst Darius complained-

Hunter's sensory meltdowns:

· It's always been Wrecker's speciality to look after Hunter regarding his sensory meltdowns.

· He can usually sense when Hunter is struggling before anyone else (Tech has never seen one. When he catches onto the situation, he worries he is an overwhelming person and would only be a hindrance.)

· He tries to eliminate unnecessary stimuli on the ship or keep him grounded with a firm hand on his shoulder in public.

· It was Wrecker who gave Hunter his bandana. Hunter's main form of stimming was chewing his hair until the ends started to snap off. It used to be a lot longer but now it's as long as it can be without it being able to reach his mouth. He's become very aware of his unhealthy stims over the years and now tries to anchor himself in his body, so when he's overwhelmed or bored, you'll find him very still, eyes fixed on the middle distance as he tunes into his own heartbeat.

· When they can't be prevented, Hunter usually manages to take himself away without suspicion. Wrecker finds him panicking or crying somewhere and holds him in a firm embrace if he needs, or leaves him alone in quiet.

· Wrecker hasn't memorized hand signals, but he knows all the signals created between him and Hunter mid-meltdown when talking is just too much. A squeeze on the thumb for a pillow and blanket, a pat on the hand to be left alone, a kiss on the hand for a tight hug.

· Wrecker will wait with Hunter even when it seems like he's calmed down. This time is spent in complete silence while Hunter recuperates until he sits up and suggests making a cup of tea.

· Crosshair has helped a lot too. Sometimes he will happen to walk in during the peak when Wrecker isn't there and will simply sit with him. If he asks for something, Crosshair will sort it, but most of the time he gives Wrecker the space and makes sure the cockpit is organized and calm before they return.

hunter sucks at hiding his emotions. not because he verbally says them but because he is so used to wearing a mask constantly where he didn’t have to worry about keeping a straight face or holding back tears so he really doesn’t have any practice and experience like most people his age. it is both a blessing and a curse, on one hand his loved ones know when he’s upset so they can help him better but on the other even people who its risky to show emotions around can see it too
